She still haunts me.

And i know, what an awful way to put it, but her influence should not be this persistent.

Yet there it all is,

Mixed in with all that I’ve imagined and what i actually remember, down to all that i couldn’t possibly know.

This feeling has never once been reciprocated by her,

Its called taking a hint and reading a room.

But in This existence , shes still here.

One text away, a few words in any order.

A final rejection could be exactly what i need, i need to hear her tell me there was never anything there.

Nothing worth saving.

Im not referring to being in love with her,

Im talking about us

Our friendship;

Because i need to know whether it was real or not.

Whether she cared for me the way i thought she did.

The care that made me fall in the first place.

It grew inside of my very core, shaped so many of my actions and challenged me as a human.

It still does,

It still does.

That, right there, as if life’s not linear and we have already shared words that are screaming to get out.

As if those words mirrored something of 2 parallel lines crossing for the second time.

Im not sure what that would look like,

I think a part of me wants to hear those words;

Those words that will break my heart for the last time.

Words she could have already said, but hasn’t.

We are so young and i don’t know if this is just a wave of insane loneliness, but it felt good to finally get this out.

To say for the first time in a very long time,

When you realize how little you mean to someone..how much they value all the wrong things & how much they value all the people that got in the way..it becomes a little easier to let go of them & the fantasy of what could’ve been.. When you take off your rose colored glasses & finally see the amount of disrespect done to you over the years, how unfairly you were treated, how much you were wronged, how they justified continuously hurting you & how hurting you never hurt them…that’s when it becomes crystal clear..letting go is all you have left even if it’s the last thing you want to do.. Let them lose you. You deserve someone who cares, someone who’s afraid of losing you, someone who goes above & beyond to keep you, someone who values you first and foremost. Someone who chooses you over & over again. Someone with no hidden agenda & no mind games of any sort. Someone who can offer clarity, reassurance, certainty, communication, mutual trust & balance. Someone who acts on love & acts with love. Someone who values what matters & aligns with love. Not someone who leaves you for others, leaves you behind, leaves you alone, leaves you for everything & everyone that came after you..that’s not love.. That’s not love.

UNDERWATER

A Drop of water hits the tub and pops a bubble

A lifetime ago I was in that bathtub

I tried to tell her

But hands that had always been kind to me, held my head under the water

I tried to get some air into my lungs..but the water ran into my throat and gagged me..

I kicked out and tried to grab her arms..but she was stronger than me.

I was only ten and she was my Grandmother.

She drowned me in the bathtub when I told her what my father was doing.

I died for awhile until I was brought back.

The memory still hurts when it comes back to haunt me, despite the EMDR.

I don't like to go underwater and hold my breath.

It takes all I can to breath in and out.

To this day..

Years later, I remember everything.
