i'm watching Star Trek while I am working and I just got to Journey to Babel (s2 e10) and I'm absolutely losing it at the fact that Sarek is beefing with his son cause he chose to join Starfleet instead of the Vulcan Science Academy.

Sir. Maybe if your people hadn't been so shitty to him while he was growing up hw might have had more of an interest in staying there HELLO???????

imagine amanda watching how mothers on vulcan share a telepathic bond with their children and not being able to do this for spock

imagine how it would break her heart, how she might worry they'll never connect when she sees a mother touching her daughter's face or holding her son's hand with purpose, without words

imagine spock melding with her as soon as he's able, showing her he loves her because he can't say it, he'll never be able to say it

imagine her being so proud of her little boy for researching and teaching himself to meld with a non-telepath just for her, all for her

holding him after when he's so exhausted he goes boneless in her arms and she strokes his hair and thanks him

and he mumbles something about it being illogical to thank him before falling asleep and she holds his little hand and feels the tiniest sparks of love still there, so small she might've imagined them before he's snoring softly

If Journey to Babel was more chill I'm sure these two would've found time to go over Spock's baby pictures.

I know that some things get omitted from the story because they aren’t relevant, but if you tell me that Jim Kirk’s apartment has a wall of ancient weaponry, he knows what vegetarian meal to order from the replicator for Spock, and Spock just lets himself in, and there’s no mention of where Spock lives, I’m just going to assume they live in the same apartment.

the reason bones and spock are always arguing is because every time they agree on something the universe will make jim do something completely reckless and stupid just to fill the old married couple bitchiness deficit in the space-time continuum. (also psst if jim hadn't interrupted his husbands in panel two spock would totally have worked his way up to resting his hand on bones' shoulder lmao)

i already said how hard this one is in my previous reply, but if i have to think of something, it bugs me when people aren't nuanced about sarek and amanda. they're WRITTEN as flawed characters so it's frustrating in either direction- erasing/excusing the bad things they've done, or making them out to be irredeemable monsters. the truth is somewhere in the middle but i've been seeing a lot of the latter lately (probably by coincidence tbh, but still)
