I just think it’s so funny that like… six years ago (and even up until totk was released), people were goofing off in the Faron region and elsewhere of botw and being like “whoa look at these statues and hints at an ancient civilization” and then theories every five minutes about the zonai and who they were and what they were and their whole deal and all that good stuff. and everyone was like “man I hope the sequel does something about this bc it’d be pretty cool to have this all in canon”

and not even two minutes into gameplay and Zelda is like “ZONAI ZONAI ZONAI LOOK AT ALL THIS ZONAI STUFF LINK DID YOU KNOW THE ZONAI ARE A THING AND THAT THEY MINGLED WITH THE HYLIANS TO CREATE HYRULE AND THEY LIVED IN THE SKY AND HAD POWERS”

Szarr palace exploration!

The chamberlain (who I assume is Vilhelm?) has a suite of rooms on the upper floor, an office and a bedroom. The first thing we see in the office is an "Elegant Robe" which feels like it should definitely be SOMEONE'S camp outfit - I'm taking votes on who:

Also in the office is a desk with some documents:

Hm. I'm assuming the vampire spawn level is the area downstairs, and the ballroom door is the "Sinister Door" we saw before, so we need to search downstairs to find out how to get in. Easy peasy. I'm so good at this detective stuff.

In the bedroom, we find a book called "The Quarta Sune" on the bedside table, which is a sex manual. We also find out that Vilhelm is NOT the chamberlain:

Interesting. Investigating him shows him as a vampire, so it's not clear if the fact that he is dead here is meant to be undead instead, but he sure seems to be dead-dead. His body is giving off a weird fog that is not explained in his detail notes, and neither he nor his casket are carrying anything.

Hector's perception pings the man's diary under the bed:

Aha. This guy meant to fake his death so he couldn't be forced to take Astarion's place. Don't think it worked out for him; I suspect he accidentally drank the lookalike one, though, because there was a full vial of feign death potion in his office desk with the documents.

Intriguing. The weird magical energy is labeled as "Sinister Seal" and inspecting it gives no information about what it does. Trying to open it causes a condition called "Vitality Drain" that causes 8-28 damage per turn.

The condition on the girl's body is a curse, which leads me to believe Hector should be able to just run in and use a scroll of remove curse on her and we'll be able to look around. Right?

The book he referenced in the note is in a closet, and I'm wondering if it might be related to the book that the note in the chamberlain's study mentioned, as Leon said she would need it to move freely around the place.

Hector the history nerd is trying SO hard not to get distracted by geeking out about this.

I'm assuming somewhere else we'll find the book that instructs how to use these words to properly open the Ballroom, and we need both in order to proceed. So next we'll check out the other lower floor rooms.

ocarina of time and majoras mask r really good! i have them both on ds and love them soooo muchhh but im fairly certain u can emulate them and loads of other zelda games on the switch if u have the right subscription... theres also a skyward sword remaster on there which was also REALLY good. I AM SO GLAD U LOVE BOTW BY THE WAY... ive bawled my eyes out over the story too many times to count esp the zora... mipha just makes me so sad. BUT IM REALLY EXCITED YOU LIKE IT

honestly if nothing else i figured out how to use emulators recently so i can probably just play them on my laptop lol

i think my little brother has the skyward sword remaster and he fucking hates it LOL i don’t remember if he has a physical copy or not but if he does maybe i’ll borrow it from him when i’ve finished botw 🤔 we tend to have different taste in/ways of playing games so maybe i’ll like it more than him
