Temptation never really goes away

As we grow into adults and become mature (physically and spirituality) we begin to abandon many bad and sinful habits we had when we were younger. When we look at the past we see the things we were able to overcome, we might feel assured that those things no longer have power over us, but we can’t let that happiness become overconfidence.

The Bible says:

“Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.”  (1 Corinthians 10:12)

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” (1 Peter 5:8)

Temptation is inherent to us humans in our falling state and we will have to fight it until we are able to enter our rest (Hebrews 4:11), knowing that “For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted” (Hebrews 2:18).

Rook: I really don't have a word for it. Solas: No, you do not. Elgar'nan destroyed that emotion. He burned it from the mind of every living being. There were spirits of that feeling, just as there are spirits of joy, or fear or despair. I begged them to fight. Rook: What happened to them? Solas: they waited too long. Without the emotion in this world to focus on, they faded until nothing remained. When you grow quiet, it is a part of your soul reaching for a feeling and finding emptiness, because I failed.

Elgar’nan’s destruction of this emotion was an act of physical and spiritual warfare - a direct attack on the foundations of Solas’s rebellion. By erasing this emotion from the mind of every living being, Elgar’nan eliminated the spirits tied to it, severing their connection to the world and ensuring they could not fight alongside Solas.

If Elgar’nan targeted one emotion and its spirits, it is almost certain he destroyed or corrupted others, systematically dismantling the nuanced concepts that could inspire resistance in Solas's rebellion. Each erased spirit was a potential ally lost to Solas, leaving him increasingly isolated in his fight against the Evanuris.

Just Keep Swimming

I often look around and see many people whose faith is much more amazing than mine, then I feel lacking and start thinking “There’s even a point in what I’m doing?”. I don’t know if you’ve ever felt the same, but I’m here to tell you those are not thoughts God wants you to have.

Jesus told His disciples that nothing would be impossible for them if they had faith as a mustard seed  (Matthew 17:20), but what does that even mean? Well, Jesus also use a mustard seed analogy in Mark 4:31-32 when He says that Kingdom of God “It is like a mustard seed which, when it is sown on the ground, is smaller than all the seeds on earth; but when it is sown, it grows up and becomes greater than all herbs, and shoots out large branches, so that the birds of the air may nest under its shade”.

I think having faith as a mustard seed means a faith that doesn’t stagnate. Even if now we’re as unimpressive as a mustard seed, we’ll keep going while “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1:6).

And never forget that “The end of a thing is better than its beginning” (Ecclesiastes 7:8a). So one day, if we keep going without giving up, we’ll finally be free of all weakness, doubt, anxiety and fear.

Me when I don't like a movie: Ugh I can't stand when people say shit like "If you didn't like this movie, you just didn't get it." I understood it just fine. It was just a bad movie! People are so goddamn condescending.
