SVSSS Au where Shen Yuan has been visiting the world of PIDW as a spirit-like being before said book was even written.

It all starts when he is a mere child, only 7 years old. His illness takes a truly bizarre turn as he commonly falls into these mini comas. None of the doctors know what's going on, it's a true medical mystery.

Except Shen Yuan is loving this new turn of events because everytime he falls into a coma, his spirit visits another world so very different from his own. A place where he is unburdened by sickness, where he could wander and roam as he pleased, a world with the most magnificent of plants and creatures.

Not to mention he's grown quite attached to the people he often bumps in to while visiting this other world.

Featuring binghe and Shen Yuan becoming childhood friends (And Binghe totally turning Shen Yuan into a godly figure in his eyes but hush), ZhuZhi Lang incredibly confused by the wayward little spirit that seems so fascinated by him, Shen Jiu speedrunning his way through motherhood induced therapy and one very confused Airplane bro.

This would follow Shen Yuan growing up (Much to everyone who thinks of him as just a spirit's confusion) while being pulled between two entirely different worlds. The time between each of his visits can be anywhere from a few hours to literal years apart, even if nowhere near as long had passed in the modern world. Though in recent years as his health only declines further in the modern world, it seems that his visits are getting longer as well as the maximum time between each visit getting shorter and shorter.

Sword Spirit AU - Xiu Ya (pt.1)

Hello hello! This is going to be a very very casual AU with the first half being dedicated to Xiu Ya(jiuyuan) and the other Xin Mo(bingyuan), so sit tight, relax, and maybe put on some Soul Eater in the background, because this is basically it.

This post is going to be VERY LONG, so sorry in advance ^^;;

It's finally time for Shen Jiu to go to Wan Jian Peak and get his spiritual sword, one of the final steps for his Shizun to finally, oficially, name him Head Disciple, even if the rest of Qing Jing will most likely fight Shizun in her decision.

It would be no surprise, ever since SJ stepped foot there, rumors have been spreading about him, usually about how he only got in so late due to Yue Qi's influence, or how he paid his way in as a young master (as if the rest of the disciples hadn't done exactly that) and thinks he's better than everyone, or how he never fights fair and uses underhanded methods during spars. All rumors don't hold a drop of truth in them of course, but SJ has better things to do than trying to clean his image to a bunch of spoiled brats.

It's not like any of them would believe him, anyways.

In all honesty, he'd rather not be Head Disciple at all, but this is the best way at getting to a secure enough spot that he won't have to worry as much about his safety, even if he will be forced to look after a bunch of children he couldn't care less about. Anyways, SJ's only hope now for something to go marginally right his way is for him to get a good sword.

He gets to the sword wall and, as luck would have it, he feels a pull, calling him to a beautiful sword: elegant, refined and everything SJ desperately hopes he can be.

SJ carefully pulls the sword out of the wall and immediatelly he can feel a connection forming, his slugish qi rushing into the blade and in exchange, a flash of bright, almost refreshing qi runs through him. For a moment his muscles relax as he feels the sword gently humming in his hand.

He walks away from the wall, a few of the other disciples that also had come to retrieve their spiritual sword already holding their own blades, but the only person that SJ cares to show his own sword stands a bit further away. His ever aloof Shizun and... Yue Qi, who was not invited, but decided to come anyways. Great.

YQ wastes no time in praising his sword and how it's a perfect fit for 'Xiao-Jiu' (which only earns him a nasty side-eye), but SJ controls his urge to bite the other boy and focuses on his Shizun. She merely send the sword a glance, unimpressed, and instead says "Disciple Shen has now a spiritual blade of his own. He will get to know his blade, which will aid him with his... cultivation problems, but also raise his cultivation to new heights."

SJ grinds his teeth, not wanting to be reminded about his shitty cultivation, but thankfully, Shizun doesn't dwell on the topic. "When Disciple Shen fully becomes one with his sword, the blade will reward him and show it's true self. It is only then that Disciple Shen will become a truly honorable cultivator."

True... Self? With a subtle glance, SJ confirms even YQ looks a bit surprised, apparently also never haven heard about a swords 'true self', but Shizun doesn't ellaborate any further on it, instead moving on as if she hadn't said anything special, and turning to head back to Qing Jing, uncaring if any other disciples weren't done getting their swords yet.

She unsheathes her own spiritual sword, intending on letting her disciples walk all the way back, but before setting off, she turns towards SJ. "Disciple Shen, the name of your sword."

SJ huffs but brings his sword closer, and reads the engraving on the base of the blade. "...Xiu Ya."

Just as SJ finishes reading the name out loud, the sword starts violently vibrating, catching SJ and his Shizun off guard, and it flings itself off of SJ's hands, flying a short distance before it stabbed the ground.

SJ's hands are left hanging in the air where he once held the sword, frozen stiff in his shock. It certainly doesn't help that is Shizun, who is never phased and now looks visibly shocked, mutters to herself: "I... didn't know a sword could do that."

.........Great.

A week after the whole... situation on Wan Jian, SJ is now convinced his spiritual sword hates him.

It just... doesn't do anything he wants it to do! If his Shizun orders him to spar with another disciple with it, Xiu Ya could randomly just fling itself out of his hand, or physically pull him in another direction when he is speaking with another disciple, and no matter how Shizun instructs him to send his qi to the blade, to 'connect' with it, Xiu Ya refuses to cooperate, one day even straight up denying his qi.

Unbeknownst to SJ, his sword is no longer a regular spiritual blade, and actually a host for a recently deceased Shen Yuan, who woke up from his sleep to his new owner pulling him out of the wall and promptly panicked when he heard his name be declared Xiu Ya, which could only mean his new owner was none other than the scum villain himself, SQQ.

It was then and there that SY decided it would be now his life's mission to stop any evil wrongdoings a teenage SQQ must get up to. (It translated to him flinging himself out of SJ's hand any time he felt himself getting too close to another disciple's skin, or vibrating angrily when SJ started to insult someone.)

SJ takes Xiu Ya to his Shizun, and even to Wan Jian's Peak Lord, to check if there's something wrong with his sword, or if he had done soemthing wrong, but both reassure him that the sword is fine, and it must be testing him, urging him to 'clear his heart' to better connect with it.

SJ, feeling like his chance at being Head Disciple is slipping through his fingers the longer he can't get a hold of his own sword, it's supposed to obey him, tends more often than not to... argue with it. It, of course, only creates more rumours about him and his 'cursed sword', but he doesn't have time for this, and he won't let a piece of metal ruin his chances at rising up the ranks.

Everything starts to change one fateful day where everything just seems to go wrong all at once for SJ: His Shizun goes away in a three-day long mission, which leaves him the responsability to look after the peak, and none of the other disciples are willing to make it easy for him, constantly getting in his way, purposefully waisting his time and straight up insulting him to his face.

Yue Qi even tries to grace SJ with his presence, but it takes him no longer than 5 minutes before he manages to say the wrong thing, and it takes even less for it to snowball into SJ expelling him from the peak unless the whole Sect is set on fire. It gets so bad even SY, usually happy to mostly daydream where he sits sheathed at SJ's waist, takes note of it, and gets a bit concerned for the boy.

SY already notices SJ's spiritual veins where all sorts of messed up, but it only becomes relevant when he notices his qi heading straight towards a qi deviation, and no matter how SY tries to vibrate and wiggle, it only seems to upset SJ even further and by the end of the day, as SY suspected, SJ hides away at the bamboo house and falls to the floor, gasping through a qi deviation.

He'd usually just tough his qi deviations out, or pass them at the Warm Red Pavillion, but now he isn't even afforded the mercy of being to suffer alone, as some disciple might come looking for his 'help', and he'd be damned if someone snitched on him to Shizun for not doing his duty as (unnoficial) Head Disciple.

SY, as much as he doesn't really like SJ, for once understands SJ's constant state of frustration when the moment the Peak Lord leaves, his peers treat him like this, and no matter how shitty SJ is- or, rather, may become in the future, SY can't stand being idle as he watches the boy shaking on the floor, gasping in pain.

It's a bit awkward but SY manages to make himself float over towards SJ's trembling body, trying his best to project his own energy outward and reach towards SJ. It's there for only a second, but SY manages to feel a similar connection to when SJ first picked him up, and SY can feel, in a weird flash, the mix of emotions swirling in SJ's soul: his anger, his frustration, but most importantly his deeply rooted sadness, and fear.

It's not really an explanation for why SJ acts the way he does, but SY can understand when a child lashes out in fear when that's all they know. He reaches into SJ's qi, carefully patting it down and soothing it until SJ finally stops trembling and slumps onto the ground, knocked out.

Maybe... Maybe Shen Yuan was in the wrong, and Shen Jiu deserves a second chance.

AU where SJ ends up becoming Xiu Ya after SY transmigrates into his body… but he’s also got amnesia and can’t remember anything but being a sword (aside from some vague impressions/fragments). SY just assumes the System used the amnesia so that Xiu Ya wouldn’t reject him for not being the original. SJ, now Xiu Ya, thinks that they both got amnesia due to the same qi deviation (he can’t see the System — yet).

part 2 of demonic cultivation teachers Shen Jiu and Shen Yuan (warnings are in the tags: they're nothing big, but i just wanted them to be there as an option) (This doesn't include lbh yet, though my boy will be part of the shen's minor sect. I think I'm gonna progress the story linearly and we'll get to him in due time, once everything else is fleshed out ) After some thinking, I've realized that sj and sy wouldn't really have the resources to take care of a newborn, so they leave Ning Yingying in the care of the brothel jiejies and visit every month to give them money. Shen Jiu plans to let the child grow up there, but in a rare act of defiance A-Yuan demands that he buy a house and that they raise her together. Jiu refuses to consider it at all, stating that Shen Yuan's plans lack foresight and logic. At least, until the rumors of some cursed ruins reach his ears.

The interesting thing about cursed ruins, is that if treated with the right combination of rituals they become optimal places to cultivate demonic energy. Naturally, it's land like this that demonic sects build on. Shen Jiu decides to scout the location and its potential for such use.

The twins travel to the village, but as they get closer and closer Shen Jiu's chest starts to tighten, sights and places stirring long-buried memories- it's at the last stretch of the journey, talking to an old woman who sets the story straight for them, that he fully realises they are headed to the burnt husk that is the qiu estate. Shen Yuan shares a few of his memories because of that unfortunate sharing of life-force. He stares at Shen Jiu and quickly turns them around. "We're leaving, right now!" he declares.

Leaving .. can he, really? Shen Jiu remembers being afraid of this place as a slave- he remembers longing without end to leave it. Resenting it.

Weren't the Qius a cultivator family? Hadn't he- almost- ended their clan? If so, what was the next logical step of his revenge ?

Desecrating their property. "No, Yuan," he says finally. He turns to the old lady. "We are cultivators and wish to take a look at those grounds. Is there anyone we may ask?"

"There isn't," she croaks. "The ruins have been all but lost to the forest around it. No one will stop you. I for one, do not think those lands can be cleansed, but I won't stop you from trying."

Shen Yuan waits until they have walked a good distance away. He follows behind Shen Jiu and tugs at his sleeve. "What do you want? What do you intend to do?" "Wait and see," he responds curtly.

The estate is both less and more than he imagined it would be. He remembers the massacre- killing all the men after the women and children had been ordered away by Qiu Jianluo. Not a single witness had been left but Haitang, and he would be happy to demonstrate his experience in murder to her if she was still around. He approaches the supporting pillar of what used to be Jianluo's bedroom. A burst of qi dislodges it from it precarious postion and it falls into the debri around it. His resentment rises- manifests in his qi and mixes with the resentment of those who died there. It is a powerful loop, two streams of water flowing into each other eroding the sand around it. He breathes and slips into meditation. Focuses on the resentment. Slightly, but surely, he feels it strengthening his qi.

Shen Jiu opens his eyes and cuts off the flow. Turns back to A-Yuan. "Well?" he asks. "Isn't it suitable for cultivation?" Shen Yuan stares at him, mouth agape. "Yes, but- don't tell me you're seriuously considering it? This is a great cursed ground, true, but it's also- also!!"

Shen Jiu recognizes that words to express human suffering elude the elegant plant spirit. It marks the difference in experience between them- that no matter how much he is taught and learns, he will never understand shen jiu for what he truly is. A monster. "It's also the place I grew up imprisoned in, you mean? That's what makes it an optimal cultivation area. My resentment is mine to control." Shen Yuan still looks unconvinced. The next thing he says makes Shen Yuan drop his fan on the ground and stare at him with disbelieving shining eyes. He is so easily distracted, Shen Jiu thinks distantly. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fox finds, fox keeps.

Yue Qi was taking care of the baby he found in a ditch one day, trying to get enough money to buy him some milk when a fight breaks between some of the other children. He sighs and lets the baby out of his arms so he can go and stop the others.

What a surprise it is that his little charge is not where he was supossed to be.

A gratting noise -something akin to the raspy laugh the old tavern lady has after years of lung issues- directs him to the alley a little bit to the left of where he was begging. There, he almost has a heart attack.

A fox. A normal, if bigger than usual, red fox is dangling Xiao-Jiu from it's maw by the back of his tattered clothes, making that horrible sound again before bolting into the forest just behind the alley.

Yue-Qi naturally gives chase without even thinking about the severe punishment he'll earn from the slavers, all that he can think about it's his poor Xiao-Jiu.

Along the way he collects sticks to fight the fox with, droping the ones that wouldn't work and yanking a new one from the trees he is forced to weave trough. Trying -while running- to give them a little point or otherwise edge.

But when he finally reaches the fox it proves to be unnecessary as the creature is comfortably laying on it's side and letting Xiao-Jiu... drink? from it's tits, completely uninjured and not even crying as Xiao-Jiu is prone to do when anything, absolutely anything, bothers him.

Another cackle and the fox pushed the apple that was next to it's head in Yue Qi's direction, as if the fox wanted to feed him too.

And that's how Yue Qi decided to go back for the rest of the slaves and, together as a familly, began calling that fox A-Niang and living in the forest.

A-Niang teaches them how to find fruit and when to pick it. A-Niang also teaches them witch plants to pick that can be sold in the town to make good money. How does the fox do that? A mix of deranged cackling, well placed nips and pushing with it's nose insistently until they figure it out.

Years latter, after the devastating loss of one of their siblings they all collectively decide to try for Cang Qiong discipleship.

Yue Qi gets picked up by Qiong Ding, Their 3rd sister for Xian Shu and Xiao-Jiu for Qing Jing. The rest of their siblings are devastated but with the promise of funds from the ones in the mointain and their own skills picked up from A-Niang they get a big farmhouse and make do as farmers. All festivities are celebrated in this family home and the ones in the mointain have a home to go to when it's vacation season.

A-Niang stays with Shen Jiu in Qing Jing because that's it's baby and it gets very anxious if it can't see him. The fox gets to see it's other children when disciples go home so it's not like they never see their mother anymore.

Do the other Qing Jing disciples make fun of Shen Jiu because his mother is a literal fox? Of course. But Shizun knows that was his condition to join and it's not like the fox disturbs the peace or anything. It just likes to sleep in Shen Jiu's room and hunts and forages for food in the bamboo forest. Sometimes it brings him a frog.

Naturally the same day the Qing generation ascends A-Niang manages to cultivate a human form, aided by Qing Jing's high natural Qi and watching it's children cultivate for years (It sneaked into Qiong Ding and Xian Shu every other day to see it's other children and give them kisses and a frog it found).

And that's how the next sect leader and his second in command (3rd sister didn't make head disciple but it was cuz she was too busy being a lesbian and QQQ is scary) find out their mother was male all along.

Well. A-Niang is still very proud of them and being a humanoid fox spirit is weird so they are more preoccupied teaching him to use hands than to be shocked by his being a him.

Next family gathering is filled with tears and love that autumn.

Next thing they know, all of their martial siblings are trying to seduce their mother. And how DARE-

I like the idea of Shen Yuan being a tiny spirit that was found by Shen Jiu when he was a disciple, and ever since then Shen Yuan has just stayed with him

Maybe he guides Shen Jiu into making good life choices and even getting help, anything to avoid SJ's fate tbh (SY is attached, sue him)

Or maybe SY found SJ when he was still a little kiddo on the streets?

Either way, SY is a loyal companion and wants to protect the guy

Oh my staaarrsss, maybe one day someone finds out about SY and chaos ensues?

Ahh, I love your Sword Spirit AU! Also like, every of your AU's. The endless abyss and the Gun-Yuan... just like, everything. But I wonder, will SY take a human form from Xiu Ya? And how would that go?

Hello!! Thank you so much, I really like writing these AU’s, so I’m glad others also enjoy it ^^

To answer your question: Yes!

In actuality, when a cultivator first bonds with their spiritual sword, the sword in turn starts to act like part of their body, or more specifically, it shares its owner’s cultivation. When its owner continues to improve their cultivation, the sword will also be improved, and after a certain threshold, the qi infused in the sword mixes with the blade’s inherent traits and transforms into a physical manifestation, aka, its ‘true self’.

Usually a sword’s ‘true self’ usually manifests into animals or mythical beasts with one or two personality traits (example: a happy dog/ grumpy cat/etc), but because of the System’s interference, Xiu Ya gets to be a bit special and have its ‘true self’ from the start (SY). In fact, SY works more like SQQ’s Shizun believes ‘true selfs’ work: a sword already has a physical manifestation inside it since its forged, and only when a cultivator ‘connects fully’ with a sword (aka, manages to trust their sword enough to share their source of power with it) can they ‘unlock’ their sword’s ‘true self’.

Note that: This bond is not as severe as YQY and Xuan Su’s, where the owner’s life force is connected directly to the sword, it’s mostly harmless where the sword’s power depends solely on its owner and if the sword is broken, there are no life altering consequences to the cultivator.

So, long story short, it’s going to be very fun when SQQ discovers his sword’s ‘true self’ or not just a little creature, but instead a fully formed human being who he has connected a very intimate part of himself with and in turn gained access to very intimate but intangible parts of a person (aka their memories and feelings)

Btw, SY’s ‘true self’ form has gained a slight redesign since the doodle collection post:

shen yuan transmigrates into pidw as luo binghe’s harried guardian spirit with the goal of stopping him from merging the realms as an adult. luo binghe can’t see him, and shen yuan can’t stop any canon events from occurring (like the abyss), but binghe isn’t the protagonist for nothing. he can tell something is different when medicine, warm blankets, and fresh fruits start showing up in the woodshed
