Working with Collective Spirits: Plants and Animals
UPG Warning: Content is based on personal experience.
Individual vs Collective
The difference between an individual spirit and a spirit collective is pretty simple. Working with an individual involves connecting with a being who has their own personality traits and motives. Some are well-known (like the Witch Father), some are spirits of the dead or specific ancestors, some are tied to certain individuals, families, and locations, and some are Nameless or long-forgotten.
A spirit collective is sort of like a current that runs through all living beings and objects. It can be as broad or as narrow as you wish. For example, you can work with the spirit of all trees or you can work with the spirit of Maples.
This is easy to conceptualize if you're an animist who believes that all life is connected and there is spirit in all things. Imagine the life force that runs through us all is a great river, and specific spiritual collectives are the tributaries.
To put it simply, if you are leaving offerings to the spirit of a dead rabbit that you found on the side of the road, you are engaging with an individual. If you are leaving an offering for all rabbits in your immediate area you are working with a collective.
Overlap
Sometimes a spirit can exist both as a collective and an individual. For example, the spirit of your house or local river may be made up of several different spirits and go by many names.
Additionally, if I'm working with the spirit of Apple Trees, one could assume that I'm working with millions of apple tree spirits formed into a single collective.
Connecting with Collective Spirits
If you're like me, you need to have an emotional and physical connection to certain spirits before you begin involving them in workings. This usually means that I'm working with plants and animals that exist in my own local biosphere.
Here are some ways to start getting to know plant and animal spirit collectives:
Meet them in their own environment: For example, if you want to work with the spirit of Oak Trees, start by spending time where they are known to grow. You can take a walk through a local forest or visit individual trees in a park or your own backyard.
Learn about them: Find reading material about the species you're interested in. Learn about their native habitat, behavior, diet, growth rate, myth and folklore, the time of year that they're present, etc. I find that engaging with a plant or animal on a scientific and material level helps you get to know them more personally and will therefore strengthen any spiritual relationships you wish to pursue.
Care for them: If you're looking to work with the spirit of Lilac, plant and care for a lilac shrub. If you want to work with the spirit of Hummingbirds, install a feeder. If you're interested in the spirit of cats or dogs, start fostering or volunteering for a rescue.
Observe them: If the collective that you want to work with is that of an animal, take some time to watch them from a safe distance in their natural environment. If you're working with a plant, feel free to get up close and personal as long as it's safe and you are not disturbing a protected species.
Veneration
I want to start by saying that veneration is not something that is required when working with spirits and in some cases can actually be a bit of a hindrance. However, it is beneficial if your goal is to emotionally connect with spirits, gain favor with them, and establish highly personal ongoing relationships. My workings boast a higher success rate and rich personal meaning when I am working with a spirit who I have developed a connection with through consistent offerings and acts of kindness.
Physical offerings
The most common form of veneration is a physical offering. They can be left at an altar or outdoors in the natural habitat of the collective spirit that you plan on working with.
Outdoor offerings should be left with great care for the local ecosystem. For plants I usually leave compost or fresh water. I will also drop specific food items in my compost bin as an offering to whatever plant spirit I'm working with that day.
For animals, things can be a bit more complicated. When offering food, it's crucial to be 100% certain that it is safe for wildlife to consume and that you aren't leaving so much so often that animals start to rely on you for food. I usually stick to birdseed, acorns, peanuts, fresh fruit and greens, unsalted sunflower seeds, and cat food for the strays. Keep in mind that food is left only in my own backyard (never, like, the woods) and never in high abundance. When in doubt, a bowl of fresh water is a more than sufficient offering.
Indoor offerings allow much more room for variety. Food items that cannot be left outside (like meat, cheese, confections, and alcohol) can be safely offered this way. You also won't be limited to compostable items and will be free to leave assorted trinkets, jewelry, or whatever you find appropriate.
Acts of Kindness
Personally I feel that acts of kindness are the best way to venerate plant and animal collectives. Not only are you building real-life relationships and connections, but you are making an active difference in the lives of actual living beings and this will always be well-received from a magical perspective. In my practice, how I interact with the physical world is in direct relation to that of the spirit world, so this is an important step for me.
Some acts of service can overlap with physical offerings such as leaving bowls of water for the wildlife on a hot day, filling a bird feeder, or watering a plant, but there are countless other options to choose from, including activism, rewilding, rescue, volunteering, and habitat restoration.
For example, if I want to work with the spirit of Monarch Butterflies, I may start a monarch waystation full of milkweed and nectar-producing native plants. If I'm venerating the spirit of Black-Eyed Susan, I could scatter some seeds on the roadside. If I'm working with the spirit of domestic dogs I might feel compelled to volunteer at a local shelter. Perhaps the spirit collective that I want to work with is fresh-water dwelling and I opt to help clean a local river.
In addition to physical offerings and acts of service, some ideas include constructing miniature altars and spirit houses, creating devotional art, and wearing devotional jewelry.
Working with Collective Spirits
There are many benefits to working with spirit collectives. They can be involved in spellwork, called directly during divination, and petitioned to help advance certain skills. This is where knowledge gained through study and observation are put to use. Plant and animal collectives come with their own folklore and symbolism, natural skill-sets, and physical and behavioral qualities which are useful in magical workings. Once you have a handful of spirit types that you're familiar with you can start putting everything into practice.
One way to begin choosing which collectives you incorporate into which workings is through divination. Break out your cards or bag of charms, call upon the spirit of your choosing, and ask them what their skills are. If you have researched the plant or animal in the past or already have a rough list of correspondences, you can compare the answers to your existing notes.
Petitioning spirits in magical workings is a great introduction to spirit work and can be easily executed by beginners. For simple workings, it's enough to just call upon the spirit, leave an offering, and ask for assistance. Here are a few simple ideas for getting started:
Divination: Call upon a specific plant or animal collective that corresponds with your question or possesses skills related to the subject at hand. Ask for them for their wisdom and guidance.
Spellwork: Before casting, call upon the collective spirit of your choosing and ask for them to assist you.
Glamours and Ambient Spells: Ask for the collective spirit to lend you some of their qualities, features, or skills, or ask them to bless a physical space or personal astral location with characteristics of their native environment.
Celebrations and Rituals: Invite the collective spirit of certain animals or plants to your ritual. For example, the spirit of Rabbits could be invited to join a Spring Equinox celebration.
Blessing or Enchanting Objects: Ask for the corresponding spirit collective to charm, enchant, or bless an object.
These are just basic concepts. Feel free to get creative and fine-tune some of these ideas to your personal practice. Working with collective animal and plant spirits is extremely rewarding and I've found that my magical skills have grown exponentially since doing so. My awareness of and connection to the natural world has also improved and I find that I notice and am able to identify significantly more plants and wildlife than I used to.

THE GIRL IS A SWAN : THE SYMBOLISM OF BEAUTY & MAGIC. BEAUTY TIPS & MORE
Every girls dream is to be as pretty & elegant as the swan.
I want to go in deeper about the perception and symbolism of the swan, which is my inspiration for this post I'm making.
The swan is a symbol of beauty through the enactment of gentleness, creative expression, femininity and grace. In this post, my focus is based on the spirituality of beauty, grace, and the prospering of the divine feminine code. The beauty that is Venus, and that Venusian power is full of love, compassion, & understanding. It is imcomparable to other forms of its nature. And has been a blessing to humanity for ages.
The beauty tips I want to express to everyone is through the art of creating a new look and flow for yourself. How the divine essence that you carry can express itself through the power of grace, and doesn't need to be tainted by outside forces.
The swan is a symbol of methamorphasis. Have you ever seen a baby swan grow into itself? Or have you ever heard of the story 'The Ugly Duckling?' Transformation is a theme when dealing with our looks because it's always growing, changing, and trends around beauty are constantly moving. Always on to the next big thing, but one thing that will always stay true is that vibration and energy never lies. And even if beauty and the standards around it change, it doesn't mean that you have to.
So with that being said, let's get into some beauty tips and embracing some swan magic !
Start slow.
There is never a need to rush, darlings. The gentleness that is needed to pamper ourselves is to simply bask into every bit of experience that is left throughout the day. When we force ourselves to rush into an experience, we are taking away from its pure beauty. And that itself is exhausting. If there is one thing that I've learned throughout my years, is that to fully comprehend the energy that is displaying itself all around us is to simply stop, and enjoy the show. The swan is never seen rushing.. even when flying it shows forth its magnificence through its slow burning movements. Its wings carry a force by simply taking it's time. Not trying to speed through anything.
When it comes to beauty, and applying makeup or putting on our clothes, what's the rush? Do you take your time to put things together? To find something worth meaning, authenticity or do you occasional rush from time to time. This works for some but not everyone, being spontaneous is sometimes out of the swan's reach. But for you, it's not always bad. However.. it needs a little bit of thought. And that shouldn't be a problem.
When it comes to our hair, our clothes, our skin, and anything in between we gotta first come to terms with what is it that makes us feel good. The art of taking your time is a sensual grace that can become a powerful force.
Expressing your divine femininity.
Okay, so first off. Let's talk about divine femininity not always being about the most girliest things. Dresses, makeup, lashes, heels. All these things don't make for a feminine individual. It simply has no filter.
So what those this mean? When it comes to your self expression, the power of your creativity is through the act of emotion. The way you flow into the room and make your presence known is your feminine flow. But again, it has nothing to do with being 'girly', you simply just have to walk the walk.
When expressing our divine femininity, it can be through an outlet of some form. If its fashion, cool. If its dance, great. If it's your speech, even better. All in all, practice expressing your femininity through what you love most. That's how the world see's your beauty, through embracing your divine feminine energy in the way you see fit is all that matters.
Always. Stay. Calm.
Swans are notorious for being peaceful, and aren't too prone to being aggressive. Now I'm not saying you can't tell a mf off, but please be discreet. Not everyone deserves it. It's time to start easing yourself into a more relaxing aura. Be cool. Be smart. And stay to yourself. If someone tries to get you out of character just know its them and not you. Some things are better left unsaid, and to be honest with you, some things are just beneath you. It is what it is.
Enjoying The Experience
Being in the now is always perfect timing. You could've been anywhere else, but you're right here. Where you need to be.
Enjoying the moment is all we have in this lifetime, not getting too caught up with whatever is outside of you, and focusing on whats within and around you. It's an art to being in the present, and just taking in the joy of the reality you set foot in. How more magical can it get? It starts with you.
And now, my favorite part of the post. Is getting into the metaphysics of this animal symbolism.
If you believe in animal spirits, and the energy they symbolize then hey, this is for you. Glad you could make it :)
The Swan's Magic
So what I want to start off by expressing is that everything has a vibration. Energy is everything and nothing at the same time. And what I want to express to you guys is that with swan magic increasing into the forefront it means to creatively express your unique senses in every part of your finger tips. Your presence is an authentic source of creation and the flow that you carry is an artform in itself. I said this before but differently, I just need y'all to get it into your school. You are a masterpiece, a canvas, an ocean of art, life, & beauty. You gotta feel that. And own it.
So when I speak about the vibration of swans, it's more of a dark force that can be deeply felt but not easily meant to be explored.
We're not meant to be fully perceived in all our glory. A Muse's beauty is meant to be on a pedestal and to be seen in all her light, what's most alluring about her always stays in the shadows for the right people to see. Most will never be able to see her true light, its a treasure. That's what being a goddess is primarily about.
The vibration focuses on etherealism. A remarkable essence that is built off inspiring others into a calmness, delightful magic. That is the aura of the swan magician. <3
This is a little post on my thoughts on swan magic, and overall embracing the energy that is divinely feminine. I hope you all enjoyed!

I’m bored and tired and procrastinating on what I should be doing. So here’s a list of random First headcanons
Orville was his best friend ever since he could remember. Their families were neighbors, so they knew one another well. When First’s parents died (he was about ten) Orville’s family took him in and the boys became like brothers.
First always had a strong sense of morality and a whole lot of bravery. He frequently stuck up for Orville at school and was known for helping random people for no apparent reason.
He entered the army as soon as he was old enough and fought courageously for Hyrule as captain of the royal force for multiple years before his imprisonment.
His loyalty made him a favorite of the royal family until…well you know
He is generally quiet and serious (though he never hesitates to speak his mind when he feels it’s necessary), but around those he is close to he can be quite outgoing and even silly (Hylia loved that side of him)
Hylia gave him the Master Sword long before his final battle. He was the first mortal Fi ever knew. They worked well together, though their conversations were always rather snarky. (“There is a one hundred percent chance this will fail.” “Why thank you Fi, I appreciate the confidence you have in me.”) Despite their banter, they cared deeply for each other. Fi thinks of him as her very first friend.
When he and Hylia’s relationship got serious, First thought long and hard about how he might propose to her. The final plan included a ring he discovered in the depths of Death Mountain (he beat a mogma to it), their favorite little nook in Faron Woods, and a speech pledging his loyalty to Hylia for life. Orville teased him about the speech, saying that Hylia just wanted him, not his dramatics.
He was obsessed with loftwings as a child. Then, they were mainly mythological creatures, as the gods took an off-hand approach and no one ever saw them. But he always believed they were real. His side of he and Orville’s bedroom was covered in loftwing drawings. When Orville learned to carve, he would make little loftwing carvings for him as birthday presents. One was small enough that First could wear it on a cord. He wore it until the day he died.
Everyone pretty much accepts that his spirit animal is a lion. But First’s spirit longs for freedom as much as it fights for what is right. So when he touches Twilight’s shadow crystal he becomes a griffin.
#I went back and forth between making his spirit animal a lion and some kind of bird#so in the end I compromised#and just combined the two#griffins are cool anyway#and it kinda feels symbolic#for the first hero to become this mythological creature#first meets the chain au#hylink#lu first#first hero#linked universe#loz#hyrule historia#trin rambles

New Moon Totem Animals
Photo of the owl by Agto Nugroho on Unsplash
Roughly all nocturnal and watery creatures can be symbolically linked to the Moon in one way or another. But some totem animals reach their highest power precisely during the New Moon.
If your animal is one of those, New Moon may be the most resourceful time for you too, no matter how exactly you prefer to work with animal symbolism and spirits.
Here’s the list of "typical" New Moon Totem Animals.
FLICKER
Flickers are known for their drilling behavior. They make holes in trees to extract food. During the New Moon phase, flicker’s energy can encourage us to persevere in our endeavors and to remain focused on our objectives.
In search of food, these birds also tap and drum. It connects them to new rhythms coming into our life with a new moon cycle. Flickers even have a black crescent pattern over their breast area. The black color of the moon reflects the New Moon phase and ability to experience emotions more intensely.
Keywords: initiation, renewal, persistence, new rhythms.
HAWK
Photo by Shinta Kikuchi on Unsplash
To the Ojibwa, the red-tailed hawk represented leadership, deliberation, and foresight. Just as hawks soar high above the earth, gaining a broader perspective on their surroundings, they inspire us to rise above our own limitations and see the bigger picture of our lives and goals. They remind us to trust our instincts and intuition as we set new intentions during the New Moon phase.
Keywords: intuition, insight, vision.
OWL
Photo by Erik Karits on Unsplash
Owl is the bird of magic, darkness, prophecy, and wisdom. It is associated with «dark» feminine energies, Lilith, the first wife of Adam who refused to submit to him, and goddess Athena. In some belief systems, owls are seen not as evil incarnates, but as wise and knowledgeable beings. Much like the symbolism of the New Moon, which is a time for introspection, reflection, restrategizing and accessing inner wisdom.
Keywords: mystery, omens, wisdom, intuition, transition, renewal.
PANTHER
According to Amazon legends, the roar of the jaguar is the roar of thunder, and the black panther is the god of darkness who can cause eclipses by swallowing the sun. Panthers are associated with the New Moon phase due to their nocturnal nature and their ability to move through the darkness with grace and precision. They are often seen as mysterious and elusive creatures, much like subconscious mind. Panthers symbolize the ability to dive into the depths of the psyche and uncover hidden truths.
Keywords: renewal, intuition, transformation, the mysteries of the unseen world.
TIGER
Photo by Donnie Ray Crisp on Unsplash
In the Hindu tradition, the tiger was sacred to the goddess Kali, which is also connected to the New Moon. Mighty and resilient, tigers symbolize inner power and the ability to overcome challenges. New Moon is a time for turning inward, tapping into inner resources, and renewing one’s strength. Tigers are excellent swimmers, unlike other large cats, which connects them to water and moon even more. In China, the tiger is both a symbol of darkness and the new moon, as well as brightness and the full moon.
Keywords: inner strength, passion, power, devotion, sensuality.
SPIDER
Photo by Dirk Ribbler on Unsplash
Spiders are associated with the cycle of creation, destruction, and rebirth. They are constantly building and weaving new webs, which is also a lunar cycle symbol. The act of weaving also symbolizes creation and manifestation of dreams and desires. Spiders are patient and persistent in building their webs. They encourage us to be patient as we plant the seeds of our intentions and persist in our efforts towards our goals, even when progress may seem slow or uncertain.
Keywords: creation, transformation, patience, intuition.
OYSTER
Photo by Marcus Lange on Unsplash
Oysters reside in the ocean, which has a deep archetypal connection to intuition and the subconscious mind. These molluscs hold the potential to create a pearl. New Moon phase as well symbolises hidden potential and possibilities waiting to be discovered. Oysters are also constantly filtering water, which brings up the idea of New Moon cleansing rituals and «letting go» practices.
Keywords: hidden potential, the cyclical nature of life, renewal.

#I really like the “We're the bad guys' enemy” line. For someone I generally despise Dazai has all my favourite lines in this show…#Idk I can't really vibe with the unbalance that there is between s/kk.#Like when push comes to shove‚ Dazai has the power to keep Chuuya alive or let him die.#I understand why they make a compelling dynamic in their complexity‚ but it just doesn't do it for me.#I'm a little sad my opinion on them hasn't really changed since I watched the anime for the first time...#Also; I really can't vibe with Chuuya allowing Dazai to kill Q. Yes I know Chuuya cares about his comrades deeply.#Yes I know it can be interpreted as Chuuya seeing himself in Q as a living weapon and being disgusted by it#(though I honestly don't think that was intentional of the author).#Yes I know Chuuya is a mafioso and kills people. No I don't think your personal issues justify you being a dick to other people I'm sorry.#Back to my main annoyance with the episode: I must have already talked about this but I hate hate hate the narrative#“the mafia works for the city” “the mafia deeply loves the city too” it's so so sickening and insulting please stop I'm begging.#Please visit any actual city with a rooted mafia presence for once in your life (signed: someone whose hometown was destroyed by the mafia.#The writers really don't know what they're talking about and‚ politely‚ it's offensive.)#Also b/sd keeping being extremely nationalist with Mori (who's largely depicted unsimphatetically for the first part of the episode)–#bringing up western thinkers and subtly mocking Fukuzawa for not knowing them–#and Fukuzawa (the righteous man. the noble spirit and just soul in this episode and Mori's antithesis)–#stepping forward to say that he knows strategists from the east (because who else would he need?)#I don't know if it's meant to symbolize the conflict with an hostile and invading foreign power (the Guild).#But it does come across as. A very isolationist way of thinking.#I know it's subtle but it's really evident for me. And I didn't want to talk about this any further…#But by bringing actual examples of this I hope I can better explain why I think that b/sd holds nationalist views–#and that I'm not just making it up out of nowhere. Otherwise I fear I'd only come off as pettily hostile to b/sd in everything#That's it. I feel like I've been losing a lot of mutuals over my main recently due to not shutting up (sorry)#so I suppose it's only fair I lose them on here too pffttt.#Tune in next week for more bad takes#random rambles

2024 reads / storygraph
The Gilded Crown
slow building fantasy, start of a duology
a young woman from a small village who can talk to animals & nature spirits, and can go into death and resurrect people
when the princess and sole heir to the throne is assassinated, she’s made to resurrect her - and forced to move to the city and remain by her side in case it happens again
she makes a deal with Death to bring him magical items instead of losing a piece of herself each time, and must search the city for them while navigating the rising civil and political unrest, and her attraction to the princess despite the power she has over her
#The Gilded Crown#aroaessidhe 2024 reads#sapphic books#okay firstly. IGNORE THE COVER this is not at all that kind of book#(the arc cover is better but I couldn’t find a HQ version..)#I enjoyed this!#I loved the way magic is woven into the world; almost subtly with all the nature spirits and talking animals#(that most people ignore but she notices them)#I like a complex death character who is NOT a love interest. makes it actually interesting#and there’s a love interest but it’s not really a romance. the princess is pretty terrible. (but also clearly very fucked up also)#definitely more of a personal journey among Too Much Stuff Happening kind of narrative more than anything#no idea where it’ll go in book two#why do eels have to be the symbol for the evil religion. justice for eels :(

Indian Chameleon Prophecy And Symbolism
The Following Channel is from higher powers, Divine, the ancestral plane and is prophetic through Quornesha S. Lemon|
Whether the Indian Chameleon appears in dreams, visions, waking life or synchronicities, it is a sign and message that you should listen and take heed to your intuition and/or instincts. As it is very strong right now. It is ok to be spontaneous and see where it leads. Learn the power of detachment from specific people or outcomes and enjoy the entrance of specific blessings into your life. The Indian Chameleon is a sign that someone is seeking you out. Someone has a strong desire for you on the romantic level. You do not have to force anything to happen in any particular way. Learn to adapt and go with the flow. Free your mind and relax.
The Indian Chameleon is a reminder that you do well in any environment you choose to be a part of. Pay attention to the attraction you receive from others. You're wanted more than you realize. The Indian Chameleon is also a reminder that you have manifested huge abundance and you have activitated soul mate energy in the realm of spirit. You are manfiesting big things and soon you'll enjoy the fruits of your 'labor'. A windfall is imminent, and so is a relationship with a newcomer. Love and happy times are here. Your home and family situations are due for improvement. Rest assured in the signs and synchronicities you have received as they are very real. Your dreams will become more vivid and your energy/gift of clairvoyance will heighten. Use your discernment and choose wisely who you allow in your innate circle. As someone is very good at hiding their true intentions. A friend is not really a friend but an enemy in disguise.
It could just be that they're jealous and could create blockages for you. Beware of who you tell your dreams and ordeals to. Luckily, at this moment the road is opened and you do not have harsh blockages to overcome. You are entering a breakthrough and a season where what you've once struggled with is now beneath you. Be wise in your business and personal dealings. Move strategically. Listen to your gut feelings. Even if those gut feelings make no sense at all. Be open and receptive to the affection and compliments from others. You deserve to have your due 'rewards'. The indian chameleon is also a reminder to take rest as needed. You are a unique person with very rare gifts and talents. So take heed to what your body and mind needs. Call upon your angels and guides for assistance whenever you're in need. You are also reminded that you are a clear channel for which divine uses. So, allow the sacred spirit of divine to utilize you for whatever outlet you deem necessary and that which is aligned with your purpose. As whatever you need is being provided right now. Enjoy the pleasures of life. You will not be alone for too long If you're single. As this foretells of a suitor choosing you. Especially if you are female. This also prophesies of a debt being paid in full or cancelled and your name cleared.
