🤠🥀 (hi it's metal-dads 👋)
Hello @metal-dads !! Thank you for sending this! 😊
🤠: Are you more of a City Person or a Country Person?
Oh, definitely a City Person haha! I don't think I could ever live in a rural community or somewhere out in the country just because my biggest fear would be how long it would take to get to the hospital in case of an emergency. I can't help but think that any time I see a beautiful farmhouse when we drive to see my inlaws, 'BUT HOSPITAL?!'
But I've also lived in a big city my whole life so I don't have the experience of country living.
🥀 Your Favourite Animated Movie?
This was a way tougher question because I have so many caveats, are we talkin favourite animated movie from my childhood, my favourite now as an adult? A favourite claymation, digital animation, hand drawn? Because I love so many animated movies honestly.
IF we are talking, favourite from my childhood, that I could recite verbatim now as an adult? It would be The Lion King -hands down.
But also maybe Nightmare Before Christmas - I watch that every year and have to sing along. Tis a must every Halloween!
(This was very fun to think about and try to answer, thank you!)
#afewproblems answers#thank you for sending that in!!#i think i could talk about animation all day honestly#like into the spiderverse also as an adult? probably one of the best animated movies to come out recently#fantastic mr fox? one of my fav Wes Anderson movies#you got me started and i cant stop#ooo not to mention anything don bluth#secret of nihm#i probably should have done a top 10

I wonder why there's so many children stories about mice and other small critters behaving like people.
I mean, on the top of my head, I can name the Redwall books (I was OBSESSED with Martin as a child), Don Bluth's An American Tail and The Secret of Nihm (with their sequels), Disney's Basil of Baker Street, and the absolutely adorable Brambly Hedge series (I had the one about the four seasons as a child and the illustrations are so absolutely charming).
Like, when you think about it it's SUCH a specific trope. I am sure the anthropomorphisation intrinsic to many classic tales and parables is partly at the root of it, but it goes beyond it because it's not just speaking animals, it's speaking mice and rats specifically behaving and dressing like tiny people.
Dunno I just find it cute

Mhhh... I doubt right now.
PG 12 = PG7 in 1982
On a side note - how necessary was to show the rat was a guy?
No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no what do you mean the movie is going to be pg-12!?!?!? no no way nope nu-uh it's got to be at least 15 or 16!
Someone literally got shot and I am not leaving the Cinema without seeing my dead Maria!

Movie night!
Hey everyone! So last week I wasn't feeling well and couldn't host. But this week I'm back! And we're doing an animated mouse double feature.
When? In about two hours Where? Right here! We're usually talking non-stop in the chat, but if you just want to quietly watch along too, that's just fine! We'll be happy to have you either way. ^__^ At the end of every movie night, we discuss what to watch next week. So if you have a suggestion you want to put forward, you gotta be there! =p
#The Secret of Nihm#The great mouse detective#movie night#G/t#Not all of the movies we watch are#but tonight sure is

Watched Secret of NIMH the other day and then put on Secret of NIMH 2 on right after. How the fuck did I like that movie so much as a kid???? I know all Don Bluth movie sequels are just Like That but that one felt especially egregious in how deep the quality fell
#Secret of NIHM is one of my favorite childhood movies#NIHM 2 used to be... but oh god. oh god oh fuck.#and the thing is... the story? the story would actually work really well as a follow up to NIMH#i like Timmy going to thorn valley and discovering that NIMH still has Shit Goin On with the lost mice#i just hate every fucking decision made with that story#anyway this has been me bitching about a 30 year old movie that no one likes#go watch Secret of NIMH its on tubi for free with like 1 commercial at the start#crazee talk

This started from an old iAnimate exercise from 2020. I wanted to improve and expand upon the original 7 second project, and still had a couple months left on my old student license for Maya 2019. All character rigs provided by iAnimate. All animation done in Maya 2019 and 2023, and rendered with Arnold For Maya.
Audio sourced from The 5000 Fingers of Dr. T, directed by Dr. Suess
#3D animation#hans conried#dr suess#mouse#rat#I'm pretty sure that rat rig is based on Johnathon from The Secret of NIHM

Why would you do this to me, OP?! It’s like making me pick my favorite non-existent child.
THIS IS NOT A COMPREHENSIVE LIST. I just wanted to highlight some beloved and underrated nostalgic classics.
I am NOT counting: Studio Ghibli, DC, Marvel, Scooby-Doo, sequels/prequels, and most other franchises. I made an exception with MLP and Care Bears because both films were produced at the beginning of their franchises, as opposed to the G.I. Joe series, Transformers, etc. There's a LOT to cover in the 80s-90s, hence why I split the two polls. This is basically Don Bluth's Era lol.
90's Poll
Happy voting! ❤
#oh fuck yeah these are more my jam#this was super hard but honestly? Secret of NIHM won out#the fact that Justin existed at such an important stage of my developmental era and I DIDN’T turn out to be a furry is a minor miracle#the last unicorn is a close second

#my actual view is live action and 2d animation are equally good and both generally better than 3d animation#but that's mostly because 3 animation is a reletively new medium#like for a third of its existance creators were still figuring how to do basic stuff like reflections#and a lot of the time movies haven't bothered to stylize#so if you picture like#3d animated secret of nihm it looks like absolute shit#it's annoying that execs act like 2d is obsolete but that's not 3ds fault#also society if 9 had had a better story#I guess I do have strong opinions after all it's just that they're not simple

Stray thought's about Burrow's End before I go to bed
I strongly suspect that Brennan with his character Tula is deliberately channelling Mrs Brisby from The Secret of NIHM, the single mother mouse who's very timid socially but extremely brave.
I like the way Erika plays an elderly character, other Dimension 20 PCs who are supposed to be old, I.E Timothy Goose in Neverafter, don't really feel old but Erika's voice and body language and mannerisms are really rich with character
I'm not familiar with Jasper but I am tempted to check out Three Black Halflings based on how charming he was here
Aabria continues to be a really absorbing DM, compared to most of the other popular DMs, Aabria gives me the vibe of reading a book.
