Every time I read a post complaining about Lucille and how evil she is, I just think about how none of you would handle Milada from The Seven Ravens (1993). Not now, and definitely not as a kid.

#you can't convince me that milada wasn't frustrated her whole life that her brother doesn't want to sleep with her #sedmero krkavců (1993)#czech fairy tales #the seven ravens (1993)#crimson peak #there's just something so caring about lucille even when she's planning to kill you #milada will brutally kill your maid before your eyes frame you for it and then frame you for being a witch #and because your husband is a spineless waste of space you will almost get burned at the stake #unfortunately one of these is a fairy tale so it can't end with him dying or at least you leaving him and now that's the true horror #this is joke btw if it isn't obvious #you can't really compare them since one of them is straight up fairy tale villain but it's fun #with how much this particular adaptation leaned into horror #like THEY MADE SOME CHOICES and I love them for it

#the problem with writing an old mond fic that I'm trying to explore Topics with is #it has dwelved from 'I want to write about why Amos stuck with Deca for so long and the messed up love between them'#to. oh boy. googling the life of the last emperor of china of which I am morbidly facinated with.#(terrible spineless self centered coward of a guy. treated as god since age 4)#(but also general chinese emperors and royalty who all really sucked and basing deca and amos both on a lot of that)#to general little morality things bc. its a story of how amos was complicit/supportive of terrible things under deca but still joined rebel #to. reading about the causes of revolutions???? and writing that into old mond's inherit instability and why nb's revolution worked #into now. attitudes on the ethics meat consumption of bc amos is a hunter who grew up outside of old mond and its culture #and forced into old mond's culture (<- my backstory for her)#which also has implications of Amos having to struggle to reconcile her heritage culture with the one she has to live in now #........and though it I keep forgetting that the initial thing I wanted to explore is deca/amos Problematic(tm) love #which means the plot is now a dredged down mess I'll have to fix in a second draft #......uh for anyone who thinks this sounds interesting. no promises on it actually getting finished or being good #this has spirled way out of control from its initial inception #but ya know all art has a political slant to it and boy nothing says political like 'story about revolution' so we'll see how this all goes #(this is also why I don't write fic or stories often lol I take its ideas too seriously and it completely consumes me until I finish it)#personal //

#Im trying so hard not to engage I feel like a bomb #I know his arc was handled badly but the shortening of the owl house should be the give away #And I personally think that the boards weren’t only cut for time!!#People are really mad he was redeemed at all but I think we forget that this guy was intended to portray a victim of abuse #Abuse shouldn’t have to be physical for it mean something #No I am not excusing what he did what he did was shitty but what I am saying is I don’t think he knew that #He thought what he was doing was in the kids best interest and when amity confronted him his eyes opened #I’ve seen people call him spineless and “woobified” and that is lost on me entirely #He stood up to Odalia and broke everything when he found out about her goals #He still has his temper he’s just not lashing out on his kids #Claims of him being turned soft don’t make sense to me because he’s been chasing butterflies the whole time! He was under Odalia s thumb #Until he learned it was hurting his kids and he stood up.#His arc isn’t perfect it’s far from it but the guy was in an abusive relationship for most of his life #I Can see the disconnect some are having but I think we’re really focusing too hard on some cut scenes #I Can see people getting upset with him especially those who relate to amity but I think it’s ironically pushing blame #Not everything can be pinned on Odalia but I think we should let abuse victims grow no matter their age #I guess it just makes me sad to see a character I see so much of myself in being dragged like this lol #Alador blight
