I know it’s more commonly said that he can start fights and not finish them but let’s be for real, the boy was raised by two mafias and is scary as hell (I think i’ve seen someone ask this a while ago but i’m not sure if there’s an updated list) Mainly wondering for like post-canon fics, but au’s are cool too!

He was hard on the team—way harder than anyone had been before—and he wasn't even the captain. He was just some rookie striker from South Carolina. Most of the time she forgot he was anything but a rookie striker, but then someone would ask about his scars or call him a different name. Those were the few moments she remembered he wasn't just an asshole. He was an asshole with a past. So when The Event happened, she was terrified, horrified beyond all reason, but she was not surprised. Or, Neil is a badass motherfucker.

Imploring. Her face softened, if infinitesimally, and those beautiful brown eyes gazed into his with so much ill-concealed longing he was ready to get on his knees and beg. Beg for her forgiveness. Plead with her to give them another chance. To forget he ever said those senseless words. He was ready to get on his knees and repent ceaselessly like he were a wicked sinner and she his altar. Her brows pulled into a soft frown, and she faintly shook her head. “I'm too much for you,” she said in a broken whisper, almost desperately. He didn't know who she was trying to convince of this—himself or her. “I don't” —she looked away, swallowed— “I don't regret you, Neji. And I can only hope you think back fondly on what we had, because—” Her voice wavered, broke, and she took a shuddering breath to compose herself, her eyes going skyward to stop the tears collecting on her waterline from flowing.

Still the One

happy day 3 of @sjmromanceweek, everyone! I originally was going to do something super cute and romantic for Elucien, but then I stumbled upon a prompt from @plinys and I had to do it because Elain with a gun in her hand is chef's kiss.

Prompt: “it’s our honeymoon but we’re spies/secret agents/whatever and bad guys keep appearing to ruin everything.”

Summary: Elain and Lucien were supposed to have a nice, relaxing honeymoon, but their jobs keep getting in the way.

Lucien sighed as he kicked the closest body to him just to make sure they were really dead. “You think we’ll have time for dinner before we get attacked again?”

“We better,” Elain replied menacingly, the tight grip she had on her gun really doing it for Lucien. “I planned this honeymoon for three months, Lucien. I refuse to let these dickheads ruin it.”

They’d gotten married in a huge, beautiful ceremony in Mehrnaz, his father more than happy to bankroll whatever Elain wanted. Most of the day had been a blur, but Lucien would never forget how radiant his wife had looked in her white dress. They’d been so excited for their honeymoon – an all-expenses paid trip to a private beach in Adriata, courtesy of Rhys and Feyre – until reality had come crashing back, courtesy of the probably-dead goons at their feet.

He’d crossed paths with Elain early in his career, on a mission gone just wrong enough outside Spring’s capital that forced them to spend time in a safehouse for a few days. Despite her doe eyes and slight frame, Elain was a force to be reckoned with, and he’d fallen head over heels for her from the first time he saw her shoot a man perfectly between the eyes. It hadn’t been easy coordinating their missions across two Courts, but they’d made it work considering how close Day and Night’s ruling families were.

Maybe he’d been foolish to think whatever enemies he’d made running missions for Day’s Special Forces would leave him alone during his fucking honeymoon, but they’d learn their lesson soon enough. Crossing Lucien was bad enough, but thinking they could get the drop on a woman trained by Velaris Intelligence was practically signing a death warrant.

Especially where her honeymoon was involved.

“Let’s go get freshened up,” Lucien suggested. He pulled out his phone and fired off a few quick texts to the family group chat, knowing between his brothers and his new brothers-in-law someone would be able to organize a proper clean up. “We deserve more drinks on the beach.”

“Fine,” Elain agreed with a sigh. She pulled at the fabric of her sheer coverup so she could slide her Glock back into her thigh holster, and he had to force himself not to reach out and touch all that exposed skin. “Keep it in your pants, Luce.”

“You know I can’t help it,” he replied, reaching out to tangle their fingers together. He kicked a black-clad leg out of the way to clear their path back to their villa. “Seeing you fight has always gotten me going.”

“You’re getting even worse than Cassian,” she teased him.

Lucien snorted at the long-running joke. “I don’t care how good you look shooting people. I’m not licking anyone’s blood off your face.”

Lucien loved his wife, but even he had to draw the line somewhere. Cassian and Nesta had gone through the same rigorous training as Elain and all bets were off whenever they were together. Lucien point-blank refused to do anything with the two of them without Elain at his side just because he couldn’t handle the sheer amount of sexual tension radiating off them at all times, but thankfully he didn’t have to worry about that here.

He wasn’t supposed to be worrying about anything, but as long as he had Elain at his side, things didn’t seem so bad.

They made their way back to their villa hand-in-hand, Lucien keeping an eye out on the surrounding area so they wouldn’t be surprised again. Thankfully no one tried anything, and he sighed in relief as he locked the door behind them. 

“God, I need a shower,” Lucien said, gently tugging Elain toward the bathroom. 

“You’re not the only one,” Elain replied. She let go of his hand so she could start the shower, providing him with a nice view as she leaned over to mess with the temperature. “See something you like?”

“Very much.” He took a few steps further into the bathroom so he could plaster himself to her back, leaning down to press a kiss to her sun-kissed neck. “Hurry up and get naked.”

She giggled before slipping out of his hold, her hands making quick work of her coverup and matching pink bikini. He only had a moment to appreciate her in all her glory before she turned around to open one of the cabinets underneath the sink, and a slew of variously-sized knives came crashing out onto the tiled floor.

“Lucien,” she said calmly, “why are there so many knives where there should be towels?”

“I was in a rush!” he exclaimed, trying to defend himself. After they’d gotten surprised yesterday, he’d just wanted to go to bed and had thrown most of his collection into the first secure-ish place he’d seen. “I know knives and humidity are a bad idea.”

“You sure about that, agent?” she asked, turning around so she could roll her eyes at him. She stood and kicked off her flip flops before getting into the shower, motioning for him to hurry up and join her. “I don’t know what they’re teaching you in Day, but they need to revise those training methods.”

“Maybe you could teach me something new,” he told her through the glass door. He kicked off his clothes as fast as he dared before joining her, leaning in close to wrap an arm around her waist and pull her tightly against him. “Agent.”

“You’re lucky you’re my husband,” Elain responded, lazily pushing back against his hips. “Otherwise I’d have to write you up for subordination.”

Lucien nipped gently at her left ear, heat already pooling in his gut. “No one’s stopping you from doing that.”

They spent so long in the shower that they almost managed to get caught unawares for the second time that day, but married sex was so good that it was more than worth the extra bruises.

OK...but also....what about Mav being a Super Talented Special Agent who constantly gets in trouble but always solves his cases (granted yes, there is usually a body count and just a little property damage - also he offends politicians all the time)

and Iceman being his handler (who basically becomes his partner) at the agency who gets headaches on a regular basis because of him but can't deny how good of an agent he is, and fights for him against the higher-ups all the time

and when their bosses see how unbiased Ice is becoming, they try to reassign him and give Maverick another handler, but the new guys can never stand Maverick (whether Mav gets that reaction on purpose so he can get Ice back or it's purely just how he is is no one ever knows :P) , so the bosses just keep Ice and Maverick together for the sake of everyone's sanity and so the employee turnover doesn't get any worse

you guys I am SO excited to introduce you to the AU that started the friendship between myself and AJ! I was watching TMFU for about the billionth time in january 2023 and as usual my brain was in Make It About Your Blorbos mode, so I wrote up a bullet point summary of how a 3zun AU for the film's narrative could work. I knew I didn't have the historical research chops to pull off what the story deserved, but then I remembered there was someone in the fandom who not only was very comfortable writing long-form fic, but also was excellent at writing fic with a really vivid sense of the time period it's set in - so I sent the AU plot outline to AJ with a message that was more or less, to use The Old Tongue, "free plot bunny to good home". if I remember rightly I think AJ actually went and watched the film that very evening and enthusiastically accepted custody of the AU - since then, they've done the writing, and I've been delightedly cheerleading and drawing art for it. I really hope you enjoy reading it as much as we've enjoyed working on it!
