Parker Guilt Complex
The MCU's Spider-Man has an insane guilt complex. "When you can do the things that I can, but you don't, and then the bad things happen, they happen because of you" is the one of the most morbid ways of saying "with great power comes great responsibility"
In Homecoming, Peter had demonstrated that he would take on more than he can even after asking for help. Tony didn't have the best level of communication with Peter.
In Infinity War, Peter sees the aliens and immediately climbs out the bus window. He manages to get himself onto the space ship and readies himself to fight against Thanos.
In Far From Home, Tony's death removes Peter's safety net. Tony, who was ready to take the blame for Spider-Man's mistakes, had died. Peter wants to be the child he is. He wants to be able to grieve the loss of his mentor. Then Nick Fury steps in and makes Peter take a more active role leading to Beck tricking Peter. By the end of the movie, Peter blames himself for putting his friends in the line of fire.
In No Way Home, Peter definitively blames himself for his friends being denied entrance to MIT. Peter takes on the task of saving the villains from other universes. Peter initially blames Goblin for May's death. By the end, Peter blames himself. He sees his friends hurt after the battle at the Statue of Liberty. He decides that they are safer without him in their lives.

If I had a nickel for every time two very gay-seeming male teachers took a bunch of school kids on a Europe trip and became one of the best ships in that piece of media I'd have two nickles, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The one from heartstopper is canon they are a couple, the one from far from home is a ship that probably only exists in my own head.

Rewatched Far From Home the other day and gotta say- also if you havent seen it- spoilers ahead-
- knowing what I do about Fury and Peter and Tony and everyone that I didn't the first time around- its so obvious to me now that Fury is not actually Fury. Because Fury talks to Tony like… frequently. They’re good friends. Father-son. If it was really Fury, he would have probably remembered Beck from one of his and Tony’s chats- a dude who invented his therapy tech that he then fired for being unstable is probably not something Tony doesn't share. Also, Fury never talks someone down- especially not a teenager. Not to that degree at least. Hes a little harsh, sure. And he doesn't mince his words. But he doesn't criticize. And he doesn't lash out. (also he measures his words. Dude impersonating him spoke wayyy too much. Fury is more careful with everything he says) And when Beck said “fury sent me up here to talk to you, he felt bad” i seriously believed that shit because it is something Fury would do. Anyway maybe its all just hindsight speaking now that I know its not really him but yeah.
The only thing is the star wars reference and his threat to shoot the next person who interrupts him and peter. That was something i could actually see Fury doing.

Did anyone reading TBH get instant flashbacks to Spider-Man: Far From Home at the mention of Prague in Jameson’s plot? Because I did. It’s so ironic how some of the events that happened are uncannily similar; something big happens at night, there ‘s some kind of fire, their injuries, a big revelation on something previously unknown (aka Mysterio and Alice Hawthorne), and they can’t tell their loved ones (subjective but okay) but they find out in the end anyways.

One of my friends while we talking about spiderman: ATSV said "of course they make one of the black guys punk 😒" (she's not black btw) so I asked wtf she meant and she said "they always stereotype black people with the "darker/edgy aesthetic" HUH? Black people literally created the punk scene?? Also black people are part of the alt scene and seeing black alt rep on screen is probably amazing to see. Also, ONE OF THE GUYS WHO MADE SPIDER PUNK IS BLACK???? 😭

I'm tired of hearing the argument that MCU Spider-Man doesn't have consequences. It's a bad faith argument that ignores half the events of his story. I think a better take would be that not all of his decisions have immediate consequences, which I find more interesting because it leads Peter into a false sense of security in which he makes bigger mistakes with more immediate and disastrous consequences. Here's a perfect example: Peter is WAY too trusting around the Avengers with his secret identity
Tumblr media
Peter reveals his identity to the other heroes in Infinity War and Endgame almost immediately. And to his credit, these are good, trustworthy people. They all keep his secret. But this experience teaches Peter that he can trust other heroes, something that's going to backfire in a big way. When Peter meets Mysterio, pretending to be another hero, Peter trusts him with his secret identity
Tumblr media
Peter's past experiences inform his decision-making. But he doesn't know that Mysterio isn't who he says he his. And because of that, Mysterio ends up revealing Peter's secret identity to the entire world. Already, a massive consequence for Peter, which he was led into because of his experience meeting the Avengers. But that's not all. Peter still feels like he can trust other heroes, so instead of facing the consequences of his actions, he goes to Doctor Strange to fix it
Tumblr media
Strange does his best, but the spell is disrupted by Peter's desire to STILL let other people know his secret identity. The spell goes wrong and because of Peter's indecision, it leads to the death of his only remaining family and a threat to the entire multiverse. This is Peter's fault, these are the consequences of his mistakes and it happens because he learned the long lesson from revealing his identity to the Avengers. But it's not over yet
Tumblr media
Peter is forced to say goodbye to his best friend and his girlfriend before erasing the memory that he ever existed. It's the only way to fix the damage he's caused at this point. This is the sacrifice his actions have lead him to. He didn't just lose his Aunt May, in the end he lost everyone. All his friends and loved ones, his academic achievements, his home, his identity. And in the end, Peter is alone by himself in a run down, studio apartment. He's lost everything and everyone
Tumblr media
Not all of Peter's actions have consequences in the MCU. When Peter abandons his little mathletes club in Homecoming, he's embraced back with open arms. But those times he doesn't face consequences, teaches him the wrong lessons, which result in bigger consequences later when his decisions actually matter. Peter abandoned his team to do work as Spidey, and because he got away with it once, he thought he could do it again. But this time, when he abandons the team, he ends up placing his friends lives at risk at the Washington Monument, he's scolded by his friends from abandoning them, and has to face his punishment at school once they get back to New York
Peter faces plenty of consequences in these movie. And the few times that he doesn't face immediate ramifications is because it's setting up bigger stakes later down the line

My review of Spider-Man: far from home so far:
This movie is morally ok. (Flashback to Beck saying ‘fine. I’ll just kill these kids myself.)
Happy: ‘I’m in love with Spider-Man’s aunt.’
Me too, happy, me too.
MJ: kisses peter
Me, out loud: oh snap. You just got romanced.
*the end scene happens*
WELL ITS NOT LIKE THATS THE ONE THING WE DIDNT WANNA HAPPEN
kinda edit: istg I posted this but found it in my drafts. Whatever.

Edit: Apologies, I didn't realise Jason was only 2/3 years older than Tim (who is eternally 17)! I have never read the comics, sorry, my only exposure to most of the BatFam at this point was Spiderman&BatFam fanstories where the ages were much more skewed. But I've recently read many, many more BatFam fanstories now so I've finally worked out all their ages (except for Duke's, how old is he?). So, if Peter is 17 and Jason is 19, then it's OK for you to ship them - just don't have them do anything until they're both legal. (Technically speaking, I'm British and the legal age of consent here is 16 so they'd both be legally consenting in my country but, since I am aware the vast majority of readers are American and Peter and Jason are American, let's stick to the American age of consent at 18.)
But definitely do not ship Peter with Dick!
Fanstory Prompt
Short prompt:
Bruce Wayne's butler Alfred Pennyworth is Peter Parker's great-uncle and, after Tony Stark and May Parker pass away in the aftermath of Endgame, Peter is sent to be under Alfred's care.
Peter Parker's Genealogy:
Alfred Pennyworth & Peggy Carter (marries Steve Rogers) - Howard Stark (marries Maria Stark née Carbonell)
|
Tony Stark (marries Pepper Stark née Potts) - Mary Parker née Fitzpatrick (marries Richard Parker) & Ben Parker (brother-in-law, through Richard Parker) - May Parker née Reilly
|
Peter Parker & Morgan Stark (half-siblings, different mothers)
Long prompt:
Seventeen-year-old Peter Parker, secretly the Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man of Queens, New York, has lost family and had to restart his life more times than the average kid (even one with superpowers!).
His parents Richard and Mary Parker died in an aeroplane crash when he was five. His Uncle Ben, who - along with his Aunt May - had taken him under his wing in the aftermath of his parents' abrupt passing, was shot and killed right in front of him when he was only fourteen. His Aunt May had a young stroke and passed away during the five year gap where Peter was busy being dusted (thanks Thanos!). And Tony Stark, who had only just found out he was Peter's biological father the year before Thanos attacked, when Peter was sixteen, but hadn't wanted to disrupt Peter's civilian life so had left him with his aunt, sacrificed himself to save the world, but more importantly Peter, in the final endgame battle against Thanos.
Now, Peter has blipped back into being five years after being dusted only to find he has lost family and has to restart his life all over again. This time with a great-uncle he hadn't even known existed! (Most likely due his not knowing Tony was his father and so Peggy was his grandmother until a year - six years? - beforehand.) Worse still, Peter has to move away from his friends and everything he's ever known to the world's most dangerous and crime-ridden city, Gotham. Who is Alfred Pennyworth and how has he ended up as a butler slash pseudo-grandfather to so many young people? Why do those very same young people keep on disappearing and then reappearing hours later from inside Wayne manor? What's up with those vigilantes hanging around Peter so much?
And why does everyone say that Batman has such a problem with mutants (also lesser known as metahumans) like Peter? He can't not be Spider-Man, even in a new and dangerous place like Gotham, so is Batman's prejudice going to be a problem... Or will Peter find himself an unlikely new family in the shape of bat and bird themed heroes as he builds himself a new life in Gotham city?
Prompter's note:
Lately, I have read a lot of Spider-Man&Batman crossover stories where Peter ends up in the DC universe - even ones where Dick Grayson was Richard Parker (adopted into the Parker family) in the Marvel universe before dying - which is fun but I wondered what would happen if it was somehow the same universe? Let's say the Justice League existed longer but were quieter than the Avengers and then the Avengers came crashing in, loud and proud as can be, and they refused to have anything to do with the Justice League, who they saw as nothing more than vigilantes. That's why the Justice League has never involved themselves in Avengers battles. Only now, my thought process went, the prompts above start pushing the Avengers-Justice League status quo when Spider-Man starts superheroing in Batman's city (particularly because a lot of the Avengers are gone). And the batfam find themselves unwittingly adopting a lost and lonely Spiderling.
P.S. I think Tim/Peter would be cute! They're both smart, compassionate, overly hardworking heroes; I think they're a perfect besties-to-boyfriends couple. Or an aged up! Damian/Peter could be a fun enemies or rivals-to-lovers storyline. If neither of those work, go ahead and do what inspires you instead, just don't couple him with up with Dick or Jason (which I have seen) because minor/adult couples are never cool. A better idea would be to ship Peter with no one at all!
I know I set a lot of this story prompt up for you already but that's just because I had a lot of thoughts on it. Feel free to make it your own!

omg i hope all goes well with your kidneys!!! sending well-wishes 😭💗
as for miguel thirsts: mentions of dubcon, noncon, edging, overstimulation, abnormal uses of webbing, fangs, and venom, vague kidnapping reference(?)
1) him going after an anomaly! darling, and instead of doing the usual ‘catch and release’ back to their original world, he just .. keeps them at hq. initially it’s just for observation, but over time he just gets closer and closer (“for research!” he tells himself), and one day, he finds himself moving their cell into his monitor room (“for observation!” he tells himself). so far, he’s been able to keep the fact that he jerks himself off to their presence quiet. he just doesn’t know how long it’ll take for him to want more.
2) i’m also thinking of some kinda predator/prey dynamic where there’s a chase scene where it does end up with him tackling darling down to the ground (he does put his hand around their head so they aren’t concussed when their body hits the ground <з). he accidentally does the knee thing and then just rolls with it, and that’s what kickstarts the fucking. is very much so like “why are you squirming?” while Very Much Knowing what he’s doing.
(he does probably put his fangs around their neck at some point just bc i think that’s super hot of him to do.)
^ also may i please add - edging while you’re paralyzed where he does the whole “i’m not hearing you say please” and is just edging for hours on end, or the same concept but with dubcon overstimulation, “i’m not hearing you say stop” while giving you the nth orgasm of the night and tears roll down your cheeks.)
3) the third thirst of him that’s been bouncing around my head like a horny version of the window’s screensaver is essentially the noncon hate-fucking version of #2; you’re fighting about something ultimately unimportant, and at some point it transitions from just slinging words to each other to physical fighting [yes he does chokeslam you against a wall a la train scene] and now you’ve got nowhere to run (maybe somehow webbing got involved and you’re stuck to the wall, essentially at his mercy)
tw - spiderverse spoilers, non///con, imprisonment, obsessive behavior.
sjkfdsjsdkfdklfj combining all of these in my head for a scenario wherein miguel captures an anomaly who, while not dangerous enough to be locked away indefinitely, isn't the kind of upstanding citizen who'd be sent home immediately. you don't manage to hurt him, but you waste enough of his time to earn a second glance every time he passes your holographic cell, a nearly imperceptible half-smirk every time he gets a chance to push your name just a little further down their ever-growing list. eventually, after some 'if you like the new anomaly so much why don't you marry them'-esque probing from lyla, your containment chamber is moved into his personal lab, and y'know, exposure breeds familiarity, familiarity breeds affection, and affection for someone like miguel breeds obsession, whether or not you see him as anything but the creepy, cyber-punk spiderman who likes to leer outside of your cell for a few minutes every day.
so, when there's a minute-long power outage and you get a chance to put as much distance as you can between you and the man that doesn't know you've seen him palming himself through his suit outside your cell when he thought you were asleep, you take it. of course, miguel's on you in a second and of course, it only takes him a few minutes to chase you into the unpopulated sub-levels of his spider society, to dig his teeth into your neck and leave you paralyzed but very awake and very aware that you're at his mercy. it was a mistake to get his adrenaline going, to spark his aggression then try to smother it before he's really had a chance to burn. you should be thankful that he uses his webbing to bind your hands rather than breaking your wrists, that he only wraps your fist around your neck rather than crushing your windpipe underneath his heel, that he chooses to edge you on until you're begging him to fuck you as roughly as he's been dying to for weeks. when he's done, you don't get taken back to his lab, but to his claustrophobic apartment, and you aren't put back into a cell, but into a collar - to stop you from glitching without letting you so much as hope that you'll ever be able to leave his dimension.
without letting you hope you'll ever be able to leave him.

anti-symbiotic
pairing: insomniac's/ps5 peter parker/reader
warning: marvel's spiderman 2 spoilers! summary: Peter almost killed you last night under the influence of the symbiote, and you have the pleasure of dealing with the aftermath. tags: reader is mj, angst, anger, all that jazz.
author's note: loved spiderman 2 but didn't really feel fulfilled with how they don't address this particular scene. crossposted on ao3.
Tumblr media
Peter Parker's antics never made you scared. Broken bones, gunshot wounds, mystical villains, or masked demons, it never felt particularly "hard" being Spider-man's girlfriend. Aside from some missed dates and late bills and being generally overprotective once upon a time, things were generally great. Handling anything with him felt so easy in spite of the pressures that were put on you.
But since Aunt May died, it felt as if Peter was somewhere far away that you couldn't reach. Ever since he almost died, even further away. He was already hardly home, and when he was, he was obsessively working on something to use as Spider-man. You knew he needed time, but you also knew he needed to talk about his feelings--even though you knew he wouldn't. Weeks of attempts piled up in the corner of your mind, endless replays of asking him if he was okay and trying to lure it out of him. After the fiftieth failed attempt to coax him to bed, with the sun already high in the sky and him still working on his iron spider legs, you found yourself wondering just how much distance lay between the two of you.
But it was never something that felt tangibly tested until now.
Last night was spent desperately trying to wake him while hunters gathered around the area, swarming Peter and losing track of Miles in the process. Your palms still felt the pebbled gravel of the road embedded into them, and the damp coldness of being trapped in that tunnel. Peter's voice, if it even was Peter at that point, rang in your head all night.
He could've really hurt you, and could have even killed you.
The thought made you acutely aware of the cuts and bruises that littered your body from last night; your bandaids felt itchy and your hand started gently nursing at a scab that was on your knuckle. Thankfully, Harry and yours' fresh tea demanded more importance to distract you. Until you walked into Peter in Harry's room, where the intensity of their gazes made you immediately aware of the context of their conversation.
"Pete!" You never said his name before like you did now. There was an honest attempt to hold your gaze steady at him, before it eventually fell. The bags under your eyes felt much more apparent suddenly, and your eyes defocused themselves on the ground as you set aside the two cups of tea occupying your hands. Your skin felt prickly, like it didn't fit right over your body, and you couldn't help but wonder if this is what the symbiote also felt like.
"Uhm," The words drowned in your throat and sunk back into your chest. A long pause takes over the room before you're able to find your voice. "What do you remember about last night?"
Your body betrays you in full, arms frozen on your sides and lifted up ever so slightly as if you were prepared to sprint out of the room at a moment's notice. It takes everything in you to look at his face, and he isn't looking at you so much as he's looking at the floor trying to recall.
"I... just remember feeling tired..." Peter's brows are knitted together to form an expression that feels foreign to you. For some reason, a look of betrayal for your suspicion clears over his features. Peter's sharp brows and tensed jaw warned like a snake about to bite. Comparatively, Harry's eyes darted over to you, with eyebrows raised ever so slightly--a wordless sentence that made itself clear to you from expression alone.
You okay? You could see his face asking. It took a slow nod from you before Harry's attention moves back to Peter. Your words are careful by the time you open your mouth next. "Pete... you're not yourself. That suit is changing you."
"This suit is the only reason I'm still alive." He didn't have the slimy black tendrils he did last night, but he didn't need that for you to step back with the tone he sported.
"Yeah, it's pretty great, isn't it?" Harry speaks up.
"Why don't you pop some more pills and say what you're really feeling?"
A fly buzzes over their heads. Harry is standing up with his cane, and you can't fathom why. Their words are too quick for you to react, but they replay in your mind again for good measure. It makes heat rise in your face and a cloud dawns over your usual good judgement, making you feel almost jittery. You take a sharp breath inwards to stable yourself on the tightrope of their conversation--and then you willingly fall off.
"Stop Pete, what is your problem?" Your tone rose significantly, anger replacing whatever hesitancy you had before.
"I'm busting my ass out there trying to save you, and this is what I get?" Peter continues on at Harry, and you realize he made a conscious choice to ignore your words. Which pisses you off even more.
"I said stop, Peter." Your eyebrows raise over the word 'stop' and your mouth enunciates every single word, dragging him away from the attention of Harry. Peter turns to you wordlessly with those unfamiliar fixed brows you've been studying. You could push the envelope more.
"I saw your story." Acknowledgement. Peter's fangs are bared towards you now.
"I tried to tell you." Indignance defies the fear that made you back off, and you find yourself closer to him as you speak. The intensity of his gaze means nothing when you're made acutely aware it isn't Peter Parker you're speaking to anymore, or at least, not the one you knew. As far as your mind was concerned, this was a near stranger.
"Yeah, but you didn't, did you? Your job is to write the truth." Peter retorts angrily. This provokes another sharp inhale from you that makes you almost dizzy. A laugh echoes through the room, and only afterward do you recognize it as your own--it serves as your own kind of warning.
"I did. Nothing I said in there was a lie. It was kind of prophetic, really." A slow shake of your head emphasizes the contempt you bare towards him in response, your tone even and sharp for good measure. It felt agonizing to write those words last night, but when Peter nearly kills you and treat Harry like this? Whatever empathy you held in your chest dissolves entirely. Who gave a shit if you didn't have powers?
"The truth is, I'm the hero here. Not you." Peter shot back. It may have been the paranoia, but it feels as if those familiar tendrils were going to spout out of him again at any second.
"Yeah, real hero you are, huh? Real heroes almost kill their girlfriend because their suit was doing their bidding for them? Is that what you tell yourself?"
Everyone in the room stopped breathing. You were in Peter's face now, close enough that you were looking up at him. Peter's face freezes in time alongside his breath, and the expression is no longer so terrifying to you now.
"What are you-"
Stop. Don't say anything you can't take back, you thought, but something in the back of your mind wanted to take it further. You study his features again and the words boil over.
"What? Are you gonna try and kill me again?" You exhale into the tail end of a laugh, and you can feel it hit the both of you. Your hands are shaking. Peter's hands are clenching and unclenching in a repeating cycle. His gaze doesn't even meet yours anymore.
"I-I didn't know. I don't remember that." There's a flicker of the Peter you knows in his eyes, and a shadow falls over his eyes when he looks down. His expression read as... shameful, embarrassed, or torn maybe. You're curious if he remembers, but it doesn't matter either way. It was clear his feelings were hurt, and your words were a bucket of cold water over his head. But you weren't going to budge.
"You should leave. Harry doesn't need this right now." Peter's eyes snapped to you to read your expression, but there was nothing displayed on your face. Your eyes met his to prove a point, and then trailed over to look at Harry, who was staring at the both of you with wide eyes.
"I'm sorry." It's the last thing he says as he exits the room, his head hung downwards and his shoulders hunched inwards. It's only after he leaves that you can finally breathe again, your shoulders slumping and eyes squeezed shut. Harry looks at you with an expression you're not interested in finding out.
"Are you okay?" Harry asks, with a tone that read almost like he was approaching some sort of wild animal. It made you snap out of your anger and finally look at him, your lips thinning into a line.
"Yeah. It's fine, sorry, didn't mean to get into that in front of you. Or use you as an excuse." Your hands were still shaking, and you were starting to take deep breaths to take yourself down a notch. Not wanting to have Harry try and comfort you when he was the one who was sick, you look towards the towards the door and back at him. "If you want to check on him, you should."
He nods slowly and makes his way out of his room, his cane hitting the ground rhythmically as he walked out. It was the only sound you could hear as you sunk back on Harry's couch, the cold leather being of no comfort.
You didn't open your eyes as you sat back. You didn't want to see Peter waiting by the elevator or see Spider-man swing across the city skies or have Harry comfort you. A wave of regret washes over you in full, whatever feelings you were holding back in your anger coming back in full swing to puncture your chest. You knew you weren't right for your outburst, and it feels as if every word hung on to fear rather than love. It's hard to imagine what Peter would have done to you if he did catch you, your mind involuntarily running through vague daydreams of dismembered limbs or becoming a tendrilled monster yourself.
But it didn't matter when all those thoughts lead back to Peter's face as it fell when you spoke, anger dissolving into sadness and shame.
