Mine if I info dump about the start/lore of an au I made 4 hours ago?

Good, anyway…

Let’s start with the uncertainties, it might be cannon up until s5? Not sure. And I don’t have a name for it yet, so far I’ve got:

As for what happens:

After a while of MK obsessing over Red Son he decides that if Red Son wasn’t noticing his obvious (seriously obvious, like even Wukong noticed) hints then he would MAKE Red Son need him. He cursed/poisoned Red Son’s tea that day. After drinking their tea’s MK, Red Son and Mei went to the anti-gravity arcade for some fun. Red Son began to feel woozy, Mei and Red Son thought it was because he had never done anti-gravity or super energetic stuff before but we all know the real reason why. :)

But in the morning it had only gotten worse and now Red Son had a bad fever and a cough. When Princess Iron Fan (PIF) finally figured out how to use Red Son’s phone, she called Mei demanding to know every detail of what they had done the previous night to find out who had gotten Red sick and to obliterate them.

After a thorough investigation they found out no one who had been in the anti-gravity arcade in the past 48 hrs had been sick, so how did he get sick?

So you know how earlier I said that the tea was ‘cursed/poisoned’ well the longer Red Son is away from MK the more sick he will get… until he dies.

A few days later MK and Mei go to visit Red Son and he’s REALLY not doing good… he is super tired, drowsy and drained and is sick a lot but after a couple hours with MK and Mei he starts to feel better. Which Red Son’s parents take as a good sign and kick MK and Mei out so Red Son can recover properly without interference, which props Red Son to start getting worse again. PIF and Demon Bull King (DBK) notice this and conduct their own little experiment over the next month. Having Mei and MK round at their house separately or having one of them distracted out side the room to see how far each of them can go from Red Son before he starts to get worse.

(btw MK has the antidote in a glass vile in a necklace that he always wears under his shirt :3)

They figure out that something to do with MK is keeping Red Son well and stoping him from getting more sick. They keep MK there for a bit longer until it’s night and Mei had already gone home, and MK says the night at the Demon Bull family’s home, though he is guarded all night by bull clones so he can’t try anything to do with taking advantage of Red Son’s weakened state.

The only other bit I have is that once Red Son is better he basically go’s where ever MK go’s and sleeps in his apartment, he also start to get more comfortable with MK and is a little clingy, which is what MK wanted to happen, now Red Son can’t even leave his side >:3

Monkie Kid Season 5 Feelings

[SPOILERS AHEAD]

Okay, I will be brief about the animation, cause I would like to leave that topic be for a while. I wasn't happy about the drama it stirred, nor am I happy with the fans that made the drama worse. The most I will say is I liked it, I can live with it, it's not bad, it's just different. Next season I'm more confident it will be polished mote.

Now onto more serious matters . . .

This season was a lot. A lot of good, but a lot. The last few episodes especially were the most to digest with how fast some of the issues resolve or reveal themselves. It's most definitely feeling rushed and I wish it had more time to breathe. That being said, I can live with how they ended it.

MK and Wukong's relationship has been through so much and they do such a good job at keeping that as a priority. Every step has done it's job to make it so good and get people invested into it. Ima admit, I'm never gonna recover from MK using the circlet/fillet/crown thing on Wukong. That bit is gonna stung for a good while. And them just being there for each other during this whole thing is amazing and I wanna see more of them being friends/bros. I expect fans to make angst fics of bad endings for them to make my depression worse!

I also wanna say, huzzah for more Red Son and hinting at him becoming a part of the group! Finally he can be with em! My son is my favorite character of the series, and I love him like a mother would love him. Also, dragonfruit is always welcome! Sorry spicynoodles, I like this ship more, but I am a Chimera shipper as well.

Dadsy moments were perfect. There is nothing more to say. I adore it.

Now to talk about the Nine Headed Beast in the room . . . if I had a nickle for every Chaotic character I loved, I would have two nickles. Which isn't a lot, but it's gonna be a pattern at this point. Yes, I think his reveal was rushed. And yes, the fact they never forshadow him, it threw me off. But I am pleased we got him. Though I'll admit, I thought the 100 eyed Demon would be the big bad and the 9HB would be lower. Guess they pulled the wool over my eyes. Again, I cannot complain, cause I'm already liking this guy. If I get no mayor, he will just have to do for a replacement. Also, yes, toxic Nine and Mac will be something I wanna see. Fanfic writers, to your keyboards!

Overall, I think this season was great! I'll possibly post more thoughts in the future, but for now I wanted to get my general feelings out before I drown in my sorrows.

Summaries:

Based off this au, Sun Wukong is sealed inside a topaz monkey statue by the Camel Ridge Trio before they attempted to conquer Heaven. Their attempt fails and Wukong is left trapped in the statue for hundreds of years, until it falls in the hands of Qi Xiaotian.

Red Son and Iron Fan find themselves going to war. DBK and Qi Xiaotian are in the middle. Hinted at smut with Spicynoodles and Ironbull.

After Mirabel moves out of Casita, Abuela realizes that Mirabel is the next candleholder and tries to get her to move back in. Mirabel just wants one thing: an apology.

Qi Xiaotian gets a cheerleader outfit from Sun Wukong. This becomes a problem for Long Xiaojiao and Red Son.

Spicynoodles adopt a cat when they move in together. A few months later the cat refuses to leave Xiaotian alone.

AU where the Camel Ridge Trio were never sealed away, the trio end up playing as uncle figures for Red while DBK is sealed. Red ends up following Azure's lead when he falls for a pretty delivery boy.

AU where Qi Xiaotian and Tang move into an old castle to renovate it. The father son duo soon find it's haunted by three ghosts: one by a young prince Red while the other is haunted by sworn brothers Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie.

MK is visiting Pigsy’s grandmother out in the country, unaware of the local demon lord and dragon lord fighting in the background over who gets to court him.

Don't you find it a bit hypocritical to be preaching the respect of celibacy/asexuality/sexual and romantic disinterest of characters from - let's be honest here, a fantasy adventure novel that was quite biased towards the theology of Buddhism versus Dao/Taoism and not religious text or scripture as you seem to imply, where romance and sex weren't the focus to begin with so weren't going to be focused on anyway in any character driven narrative.

When you yourself are head-canoning/playing out your own romantic views on characters who - despite their marked difference from the source material - also have given no canonical showing of romantic or sexual interest in others?

Ohhh boom, professor, you totally burned me. Oh how will I ever recover? /s Look kid, you clearly think having a keyboard and an internet connection means you're some kind of high-and-mighty literati with an IQ the rest of us can't even comprehend, but I'll try to break this down for you:

Romance and sex are major points within Journey to the West, specifically abstaining from them. Zhu Bajie's biggest struggle is in not chasing after women every five seconds. It's what his whole arc is based around.

Not only that, but the Tang Priest himself was nearly raped and was sexually harassed several times throughout Journey to the West by several female demons. So what do you mean "romance and sex weren't a focus to begin with"?

The entirety of JTTW is about Buddhist principles and the path to enlightenment, and part of that is abstaining from worldly pleasures, the most dangerous of which being sex or getting married.

And to get to that second point you must have been so proud of yourself for typing: Lego Monke Kid is a children's cartoon that's clearly adventure-focused. They're not going to spend time showcasing every single character's romantic/sexual preferences. We can make inferences based on what the writer's Tweet or hint at in their show, but to expect them to outright display their preferences when extremely popular LGBTQ+ kid shows like Steven Universe and Owl House have been cancelled for doing less is downright foolish and shows just how ignorant you are.

Some of those tweets, by the by, have included creators lamenting that they can't make SpicyNoodles canon. Pigsy and Tang have already been as close as they can be to a canon MLM couple without saying "We're gay and in love". By "canonical showing", I think you mean you're one of those people that thinks if the characters don't do exactly that you refuse to count it as canon. If any of the characters were confirmed by the creators (onscreen or off) to be aromantic or not interested in romance, I would not write for them. LMK is already severely inaccurate with writers intent on distorting basic historical facts, and not only that it's not meant to be taken as part of the Buddhist mythos.

That's like saying Hercules is part of Roman mythos (or if we go with the inaccuracies- Greek mythos). "As I seem to imply"? Well, smartass, have an excerpt from china.usc.edu (and, as I'm certain you need pointed out, that .edu means it's from a verified educational source):

Because you need everything spelled out for you...my grief was with people who take the Buddha himself Sun Wukong and try to erase the fact that he is celibate, and that as a Buddha he continues to be celibate. Doing otherwise would show a lust for earthly connections, something all Buddhas are meant to shed and all enlightened beings have shed.

Every story in the Bible is just that- a story. The same for things relating to the Greek, Roman, and Norse gods. However, you don't seem to be dogging after them for being "fantasy stories", hmm? I suggest you take a look at your biases.

The overall point: JTTW shows us the origins of two Buddhas, an arhat, and a Celestial Immortal while also showing us lore relating to other gods. LMK is a kid's cartoon that doesn't even get the fundamentals right and is out-and-out fiction. If I were writing for Sun Wukong the Victorious Fighting Buddha, I can assure you it wouldn't be within the context of a yandere blog. But I'm not, I'm writing for the goofy children's show Sun Wukong that's so inaccurate I feel no qualms about calling him a character and writing scenarios where he gives the reader a kiss.

70/75 with one of Spicynoodleshipping getting deaged and forming a little kid crush on the other?

I don't think I have seen a fandom have so much de-aging fancontent at once since... MCU? While I was happy to write the concept itself, writing stories focused on little kid crushes is not something I’m interested in (sorry anon). It's still there, though, just mentioned in passing so this is more Gen than anything. A short exploration of the concept itself and some little "what if" ideas that I personally don't hold as headcanons but I thought could be interesting.

But hey, this is also INCREDIBLY LONG. Why was I so inspired???

Mild warning: mentions of a character being ill. Nothing is described and it’s only mentioned in passing, but I know some people don’t like being hit with that with no warning.

Was this supposed to be a romantic gesture?/It might be a little silly, but I still like to believe in fairy tales.

"Well..." Tang said with a sigh of relief as he entered the kitchen of his shared apartment with Pigsy. "Xiaotian seems to be alright now. Red S-Red BOY insisted I let him watch over him and get myself something to eat."

Pigsy nodded, handing Tang a finished bowl of simple noodles. "He, uh, ain't exactly what I was expecting when you came running into the shop with them shouting 'they're babies help me'. ya know?" He turned back around, carefully mixing some medicine into another smaller bowl of mostly broth. He wasn't sure how well Xiaotian would take medicine without feeling sick again so this would be the easiest way to hopefully help him keep it down. "Kinda pictured him a lot louder. And angrier."

"I didn't picture Xiaotian so..." Tang trailed off, sitting down turned away from Pigsy so he could look out of the entrance to the kitchen to keep an eye on the two now-children covertly and frowning as he sipped his broth. "Did you know?"

Pigsy sort of knew, before all this.

Before Tang ran into his shop with Xiaotian and Red Son held under each arm screaming, both unconscious and shrunk down in equally shrunken outfits, which would have been adorable if it wasn't confusing and terrifying, to what Pigsy could only estimate as ages 5 and "whatever the super powerful demon equivalent of 5 is". That was the last thing Pigsy ever expected to happen but this was his life post Monkie Kid now. Weird shit happening. This weird shit just happened to be closing his store for the day to start taking care of two grown men de-aged into children as Sun Wukong went off with Xiaojiao and Sandy to find the offending demon and undo whatever magic they had worked to make this happen.

They weren't exactly their 5 year old selves, though, not directly. The magic had left them in some kind of semi-muddled limbo, physically and mentally 5 but with some of the knowledge and memories of their adult lives mixed in with their age appropriate memories. And this left both of them incredibly confused and scared when they woke in the apartment and Red Son insisting on being called by his old name Red Boy and Xiaotian...

Xiaotian had become so scared and worried he had made himself sick. Pigsy knew that as a kid Xiaotian wasn't the healthiest but he had never elaborated past “I got sick a lot”. He hoped that it was the anxiety he developed as he got older mixed with his weaker stomach as a child making him so ill so suddenly and not an indication of anything else, even though he also wished it wasn’t anxiety at all. Mostly he just wished he wasn’t sick at all.

Luckily, it seemed that just enough of Red and Xiaotian's friendship was mixed into their memories that the small fire demon child immediately took an insistence on making sure his friend was alright in that single minded determination only small children could possess, not leaving his side for a single second unless absolutely necessary.

"Sort of," he answered after a moment, ladling in another helping of soup into a second bowl for Red as well. "Didn't think it would be this bad. Hopefully that’s the worst of it.”

Tang hummed, drinking the last of his broth and smiling once again. “They seem to be settling down, at least enough that they’re not scared anymore.”

“Thank the heavens,” Pigsy muttered as he grabbed the bowls and made his way into their shared living room. “Alright you two, time f- what are you doing?��

He heard Tang laugh behind him, clearly finding amusement in being aware of what was happening while the pig was oblivious. Red Boy was sitting on the arm of the couch with his hands wrapped around Xiaotian’s forehead.

“He said he had a headache so I’m helping!” Red Boy exclaimed proudly, voice low for his usual volume and little bull tail swiping the air behind him in his pride. “Heat’s supposed to get rid of headaches, daddy told me so when I started growing in my horns and my head hurt all the time.” They were so used to hearing Red Son call DBK by the formal “father” that hearing him refer to him as anything else felt odd.

“Did he now?” Tang smiled, keeling in front of Xiaotian. “Is it working?”

“Yeah,” he answered softly, much softer than he would have as an adult, with a small smile on his face. “I still don’t feel good but I feel less bad now.” The simple answer seemed to bolster Red, the very tips of his hair sparking as his face lit up in clear delight and victory.

“Well, hopefully this’ll make you feel even more less bad,” Pigsy chuckled, holding out the bowl he had prepared. “There’s medicine in here that should help, shouldn’t even taste it.” As Xiaotian took his bowl from his hand carefully Pigsy held out the other one. “You are not eating on the arm of the couch, sit down please.”

Red Boy looked like he was about to protest with Xiaotian looked up at him with a nod and a smile, apparently being just enough to make him let him go and clamber over the back of the cough to flip down right next to him. Again, doing things in a way that only a kid would do.

The two thanked Pigsy for the food and ate their bowls slowly. The adults watched and noticed that Red seemed to gulp down his food and wait to watch his companion eat a few sips before returning to his own bowl and repeat the cycle, not finishing his bowl until Xiaotian’s was completely downed. Honestly, it was adorable. Much like most of this situation, if peppered with lots of worry and anxiety at the same time.

After they finished and Pigsy gathered their dishes he watched as Red and Xiaotian whispered about something and raised an eyebrow as Red jumped off the couch to ask Tang something before running off farther into the apartment.

When he returned the two were curled up on the couch again, this time with Red reading an old book of fairy tales Pigsy didn’t even know Tang owned softly under his breathe so Xiaotian would be the only one who could hear him.

“OK, Red’s never been this attentive to anyone before,” Pigsy muttered from behind Tang and hoping the demon was distracted enough that he wouldn’t hear. “What is-” He tensed as Red Boy sparked his hands on fire ever so slightly, relaxing and stopping from telling him to put them out only when Tang nudged him.

“Watch,” he said in explanation, and Pigsy did. He watched as tiny little figures started to form in the fire, presumably little people to act out whatever was happening in the book they were reading. Red was being so careful not to hold his hands close to the book or the couch or his friend. Xiaotian’s face was one of awe and delight, and When the figures dissipated he laughed and Pigsy watched as Red blushed and smiled wide as he returned to the book and scooted closer, his tail wrapping around his companion’s wrist and purring so loud they would be surprised if he wasn’t actually shaking a bit with the force of it.

“Oh,” he said softly in realization, piecing together Red’s behavior with some things he had noticed before this entire fiasco started. “Oooooh. Red has a crush on Xiaotian, doesn’t he? Was this supposed to be a romantic gesture? Does he even know what he’s doing or is this just kid logic runnin the show?”

“I’m not sure,” Tang replied. “But it’s sweet, the way he’s making sure Xiaotian feels better. If they remember anything when this magic is undone I hope this is something we can tease them fondly with.”

Pigsy couldn’t help but chuckle at that. “Watch out, you know Red’s gonna have his temper back. And what makes you think they’ll remember anything? They may forget all of it, you know, they only kind of remember little bits and pieces of everything past their age right now.”

“It might be a little silly,” Tang said with a shrug. “But I still like to believe in fairy tales. Like the ones they’re reading. Seems appropriate to think maybe something like one of them may happen I guess.”

“You’re a nerd,” Pigsy said with fondness in his voice as Tang wrapped his arm around Pigsy’s shoulders.

HIIIIII!!! Read through your entire shadowpeach parents au in a day and I'm OBSESSED!!! The latest comics with Red Son and MK were gorgeous, tbh I think the song Fantastic by King Princess is a perfect match for those scenes!

I had a kinda (actually make that very) stressful day so would you have any cute/fluffy headcanons about spicynoodles? Or hints about what to expect in the future? If not no worries I'll read the comic for the tenth time lol

I was born for this moment *clear throat*, I can't say too much but since this comic wont divulge too much on spicynoodle after the end I might as well.

MK will climb that man whenever he can, even when he's working on a project you can bet your ass he will be clinging on his back like his life depends on him.

Red Son still has some self awareness over his true form and MK is just there everytime to remind him he's beautiful.

Red Son is typically the one who would go on to even write poetries for MK, or start an absurdly long list of complex compliments for him to get flustered and embarassed for. In the meantime MK just needs to call him "cute" and Red Son.exe will stop working.

Red Son tends to work all night someday but you better bet his monkey bf will force him to bed (MK lifting a 6 feet bull boy like he's a bag of chips is an image that have been haunted me for weeks)

The entire fortress knows these two bitches are together, everyone would open the door for MK and guide him to Red Son door, but the fucker will always, ALWAYS, just sneak inside to Red Son room just to give him surprises kissed while he almost burn him alive from the jumpscare.

During winter MK is even MORE clingly bc the man is just a fucking living furnace

N°1 reason why Mamacaque approved him was bc he knew his son would never be cold again

N°1 reason why Wukong DIDN'T approve of him at first was because he was afraid he would accidentally burn MK.

hm, well.

my next long plot post about it is gonna be the Event that replaces the new years special, which will include Tang, Pigsy, and Sandy finally making their full appearances in the AU.

ummm MK still hasn’t met Red Son’s parents now that I think about it. there’s absolutely like a family dinner MK and Mei get invited too and Mei is just chillin’, completely vibing in this scenario while MK and Red Son are just pa  n ick i n g

of course Red Son’s parent’s are completely fine with MK- up until MK drops the fact that he’s Wukong’s successor and DBK proceeds to LOOSE IT

“I HAVEN’T SEEN THE SIMIAN IN OVER 500 YEARS AND THEN HIS SUCCESSOR IS RANDOMLY DATING MY SON??? HELLO?? LITTLE THIEF, TELL ME WHERE YOUR MENTOR IS NOW.”

(yes DBK still calls MK little thief despite the fact MK didn’t steal the staff from him in this AU, no i don’t feel like explaining why he’s still called that)

MK rambles out Wukong’s location and the entire dinner party is cancelled in favour of DBK hunting down Wukong and calling him out for just Vanishing for 500 years.

Wukong, who was hanging out with Macaque, keeping an eye on the smoothie truck, literally jumps with terror when he hears DBK call his name, and tries to run away

he’s stopped by literally EVERYONE ELSE grabbing on to him, and then DBK just like. gently grabs a hold of him and lifts him up like “Brother, why have you hidden yourself for all of these years?”

“That’s for me to know and for you to never find out you over grown cow.”

Wukong proceeds to get thrown into the nearest lake (he’s fine he’s just sitting on the bottom of the lake, pouting, to avoid interaction).

Red Son asks DBK why he doesn’t question Wukong further and just gets a response of “If he doesn’t want me to find out, it’d require something strong enough to break a mountain in order to change his mind.”

DBK fishes Wukong out of the lake after a few minutes and proceeds to just tease him for a) looking like a drenched cat, and b) having started dating Macaque and not even having the decency to come out of hiding to announce this fact-

Imma be honest, Belos was a goddamn PURITAN, so if he managed to keep the fact he was a WITCH HUNTER from the public, I guarantee you he was hiding homophobia and possibly skin-based racism too in cannon.

So he’s just dumping those homophobic beliefs out on his grimwalkers in this AU with the warning of “Do not mention these talks, EVER, those who live in sin would ABSOLUTELY attack you should you even mention it”

And Hunter would’ve 100% believed every word.

Red Son- Monkie Kid Soulmate au

More Monkie Kid soulmate au!

This time: Red Son!

Red has five soul marks: the stylized monkey on his palm (MK), the green dragon on his wrist (Mei), a purple bull head on his left shoulderblade (DBK), an iron fan on his right shoulder blade (two guesses as to who that is), and finally, a skull with glowing blue eyes on his spine (Sans the White Bone Spirit).

The scar on his wrist is from his time as Guan Yin’s disciple. The bracelets were pretty tight and were on for a pretty long time (about 50 years in this au), so they ended up causing some scarring.

Once Red gets the marks on his palm/wrist, he starts wearing fingerless gloves. He despises the mark on his palm, believing that anyone who’s soul is represented by Sun Wukong is his enemy. He’s very insecure about his soul marks, and refuses to let anyone see them (he doesn’t even let Iron Fan see them).

It’s only after he switches sides that Red Son starts letting others see the soul marks on his hand and wrist, and even then that’s limited to MK and Mei. Still, Red has some days where he hides his palms and wrists, because he can’t bear to be reminded of his parent’s betrayal.

The only mark that Red Son always feels right about is the skull on his back: he knows the Baigujing is his enemy, and he’s perfectly fine with that.

Red ends up dating MK, and has a platonic relationship with Mei. The three end up becoming very close with each other, and would 100% die for each other without hesitation. Mei and MK both become very good at bringing Red out of a panic attack, and while MK might not understand any of Red’s technical jargon, he is still willing to listen to the fiery demon go on for hours about his latest invention.

Red and Mei have a sort of rivalry going: the two are very competitive when it comes to racing, and they will try to out do each other with how cool they can make their vehicle. MK knows better than to intervene, and has relegated himself to the sidelines as a cheerleader. Outside of that, Red and Mei are incredibly close, and have bonded over their less than stellar relationship with their parents, as well as the crippling expectations they hold themselves to. They will often talk about blueprints to each other, and have been known to spend hours pouring over them together.

Once Red joins the gang, he becomes... fiercely protective of Mei and MK. Now that he’s actually gotten to experience a positive relationship, he refuses to allow anyone to take it from him, and is TERRIFIED of the idea that his parents may go after MK and Mei to get back at him. Whenever the three go out together, Red Son is there’re with a 1000 yard state that deters almost any demon. (Spider Queen makes one attempt to kidnap MK again. She vanishes a day later, lair burned to a crisp. Demons of all shades avoid MK after that.)

After a while, word gets out that Red Son is courting the Monkey King’s successor. This leads to several instances of other demons attempting to court MK as well, in a desperate bid for power, and to get into Wukong’s good graces. MK is completely oblivious, and Mei and Red both agree to obliterate anyone who tries to take advantage of MK.

Red begins courting MK about two months after the switch, but most of his efforts either go unnoticed or end up being misinterpreted. Mei ends up joining forces with Jin and Yin in an attempt to get these two idiots together, but these effort usually end up making things more complicated.

Red ends up full on confessing to MK after a really bad fight against Macaque. MK ends up badly injured with a stab to the gut, and in a moment of desperation and terror, Red Son yells that MK can’t leave yet, because Red still hasn’t had the chance to tell him that he loves him. MK, with quiet tears in his eyes, tells Red Son that he knows, that he loves Red back, and that he has for a while now but could never work up the courage to say it.

Mk ends up in the hospital for a bit, but he survives, and once he wakes up Red asks if they’re a thing, to which MK, of course, says yes. After that, Red stops wearing the finger-less gloves entirely.

Red and Pigsy... don’t get along. At all. The only time they ever work even remotely well together is when they are protecting Mk and Mei, and even then they still butt heads.

Red Son ends up getting possessed by the White Bone Spirit for a short time before he joins the gang, as Iron Fan decided that it was the best way to keep control of him. 

DBK and Iron Fan are much quicker to turn on Red in this au: They sent him on the weather station mission in an attempt to get rid of him. They are also much more overtly abusive here: think Ozai’s treatment of Zuko in ATLA. 

Red Son is an insomniac, and will often stay up all night with Mei.

Red and Sandy end up forming an unlikely bond: Sandy and Red have a tradition where they will spend two hours every Thursday meditating together. Sandy ends up giving Red a therapy cat named Jinhu. 

Wukong is very suspicious of Red Son at first, and spent about three months constantly monitoring him before he realized that the fire demon was head over heels for Mk. After that, he begins to watch Mei and the Gold and Silver bros try to get them together. He finds this absolutely hilarious.

Red Son has sleep paralysis. This has led to more than one occasion where Mei walks in to find Red Son staring in awe at her because, when he is stuck in sleep paralysis, he sees Mei as a huge ass green dragon. This also applies to Mk, who shows up like this .

After he gets more comfortable with showing his soulmarks, Red gets into the habit of rubbing them whenever he’s nervous. It comforts him, knowing that at least there is someone out there who cares about him.
