Jake grinding down on Bradley’s thigh in the Bronco!! that’s the vision

Seeing it SO clearly

I know we all love them in the Bronco with the top down, heat of summer, etc etc etc

But what about when they head east and spend part of the winter in the mountains? In the snow, chains on the Bronco’s tires, outside the little cabin that’s been in Bradley’s family for years. The both of them heading into town for some groceries, coming back and talking quietly in the cab of the Bronco, stealing a few more moments of warmth in the cab before they brave the winter winds on the way into the cabin.

One thing leads to another and then Jake’s grinding down onto Bradley’s leg and the windows are fogging up and Bradley’s cheeks are ruddy with windburn and the heat in the cab and arousal and Jake’s just staring bc it never stops. He never stops wanting Bradley. He’s always grown bored with things, with people — but Bradley’s his constant and Jake’s so in love that it’s terrifying.

Yes! He was! Because Hermes never expected anything from Odysseus. Odysseus was entertainment to him, yes, but he wasn't a game. He explained the rules. Aeolous dealt in riddles when Odysseus asked. Hermes told Odysseus exactly what would happen if he opened the bag in Dangerous. Hermes provided aid and didn't ask for anything in exchange, and was the only god Odysseus met that he was never at odds with. Plus! Hermes rescued him! Gave him a chance to get home! Hermes is the only god to give him a straightforward way home with no strings attached

how can i write close friendships in a way people wont ship them?

In all honesty, if this is an original work, people will inevitably ship them. This is the nature of fandom, that people ship whatever they want.

And, truthfully, I don’t really know. You’re asking a question with a lot of angles to consider. Angles that I don’t feel fully qualified to cover.

It’s also important to note that I am an alloromantic person (only asexual) so I’m coming at it from an alloromantic perspective. And I’ve realized recently that I’m a little romantically in love with all my friends, and I think that’s good. I love the way her hair falls down her back and the way his freckles catch the light. I love her laugh and I love their hands. I love them, and if one of them kissed me I don’t think I would mind it. But I don’t want an actual romantic relationship with any of them. I won’t initiate one and if they tried to initiate one I would very likely shut it down.

That was one big rant, but what I am getting at here is (if this works for the kind of story you’re writing) it’s ok to let them blur the lines a bit, because humans are messy and sometimes the lines get blurry.

When i write close friends (which. I don’t do that very often. I should do that more) I tend to model it after my own close friendships, shifted and molded to fit the characters I’m working with. And yknow what? My friends and I joke about making out and having sex with each other all the time. The most common joke between me and one of my closest friends is that she’s my military husband and I’m the housewife at home making brisket. I’m a very touchy person, and I cuddle on top of my friends all the time.

The thing is, romantic relationships are just really close friendships that also have kissing and sex, and sometimes they don’t even have that!! The line between ‘close friendship’ and ‘romantic relationship’ (or at least something that resembles a romantic relationship) is very thin. And I know the question was “how do i write it so that other people won’t ship them” and not “how do i write close friendships” but I think my point still stands. And my point is, people just love each other. What you need to do is figure out how your characters experience love, show that, and then make it explicitly clear in narration that they are just very close friends. And that feels like a no brainer but I think it might just be what you have to do.

And circling back to my original note: in fanfiction you can tag it however you feel fits best with what you’ve written. But with original fiction, people will inevitably ship the characters that you don’t want to be shipped together. It will happen one day. So rather than focusing on making it so that other people don’t ship your characters, I think it would be much easier to just develop them as you want to, and then saying that there’s nothing romantic there. Or hell, maybe there is something romantic there and it’s something neither of them want to act on. It’s your story, and that’s the beauty of writing. Only you get to pick what goes on the page.

How Would Bucky React To His GirlFriend Getting Pregant?

My man would spiral.

He’d get so broody. And Girlfriend would get stressed thinking he was mad, or didn’t want the baby, or whatever.

But he’d be panicking thinking he’d ruined her life. That he’d gotten her stuck to him for the rest of her life whether she wanted it or not.

After lots of talking and patience on both sides I think he’d eventually be thrilled.

It’s my own headcanon that he’s always wanted kids he just never allowed himself to admit that. He’d be terrified and likely second guess things a lot, he’d need reassurance. But I also think he has deep empathy and the ability to understand and connect with people in a way most can’t because of all the shit he’s been through, so he would know when he could let himself panic and know when he needed to get his head on straight and help his baby momma.

Pre serum Steve didn’t. I think he was too bitter about life and circumstances to humour the idea of ever getting to have kids.

Also he was in love with a man so like 🤷🏻‍♀️

Post serum Steve, in the war really didn’t have time to think or worry about any of that. And after he lost Bucky he lost all his will to really want anything.

After defrosting I think Stevie was really numb for a long time.

He had a lot to deal with and work through.

I think most of his time was spent aching for Bucky still.

A healed Steve I think would very much want kids. With or without Bucky. I think he’d want them with any partner. I just think it would take him a LONG time to get there.
