Allies in The Last Dam Job

There's this fun bit of attention to detail In The Last Dam Job when they're discussing how to get Dubenich:

This isn't quite the full gif but what it is is that Sophie says that Dubenich is going to know every friend, every person that they would be expected to go to for help. And Nate looks at Eliot and goes "we find someone who is not a friend" to Sophie and Parker "someone who is not in the game" to Hardison "someone we do not trust." And that's exactly what happens.

i think one of the most flustering and flattering things to hear is someone telling you that you’re fun to tease.

not only is it incredibly flustering but it’s also comforting in a way?? i struggle a lot with people pleasing and feeling guilty for being given affection and attention because there’s times i feel like i don’t deserve it or i worry that i’m subconsciously like demanding the person give me attention. which is silly and i know it’s silly but my brain still has those irrational fears y’know?

so getting that reassurance that the other person is also getting enjoyment out of it?? that they like to make me feel this way and are doing it because they want to, not because they feel like they have to?

it’s nice for us chronic overthinkers to hear

I'm working on an Eliot-centric OT3 fic set soon after the end of season 5, with Eliot pining like an idiot. The 'spanner in the works' comes in the form of a young man who claims to be Eliot's biological brother - and, of course, bringing more drama on his heels than intended.

I've got 5 complete chapters so far with about 20k words, and I'm thinking I miiight be half way through (I find it hard to judge as I tend to write long novels). This has been an easy writing fic for me so far. It's easy to pick up, easy to put down, so I'm planning to complete it before posting - I'm paranoid that if I start posting too soon, I'll never complete it.

But here's a little snippet just to whet your appetite 😉

Eliot wasn't ready for Parker to see too deeply into his heart right now. It would expose too much, leave him too vulnerable. And it would run the risk of ruining everything. Eliot couldn't bear it if he ruined everything.

What was this? Am I crazy or was there something here

Spencer doesn’t like hugging I think we’ve established by now. The team seems to be a expectation/ any one on the teams partner or kids. But Stephen Gideon who I think was brought up MAYBE 3 times or so as far as I know has no relationships with anyone in the BAU besides Rossi or Hotch. So when he herd about his estranged fathers death the last thing I expected was for SPENCER of all people to give him a hug. Sure you could argue that Spencer was trying to be nice or he’s been so overcome with grief over the death of his mentor (even though the only time Spencer had actually let his emotions show in front of the team was when Maeve was kidnapped.)

If I had a nickel every time Spencer showed affection towards a guy with great facial hair I’d have two nickels.

This smile lives in my mind rent free.

Actually screw it, I will say it: if CM downright confirmed Spencer Reid was on the autistic spectrum they would be confirming that over half of his inner circle (and others) gave him blank stares and were overall mean to him for shit he COULDN'T help.
