I'm bad at math, but is Bruce theoretically 38 years old when he goes into the time stream?

Hear me out (and canon likes to fluncate their ages, so this is my best guess without trying to account for birthdays):

Bruce becomes the legal guardian of 9 year old Dick when he's 23. That's a 14 year difference.

Jason becomes Robin when Dick leaves at 18. Jason is 13. That's a five year difference.

Jason dies at 15, and Tim becomes Robin at 13. That's a two year difference.

The age difference between Tim and Bruce would thus be 21 years.

Tim becomes Red Robin to find Bruce at 17.

That means that Bruce had to be 38, right? Why was I imagining him closer to 50?

Chilchuck analysis speedrun: As a hardworking half-foot who grew up poor and discriminated against and had his gullibility taken advantage of multiple times in his early adventuring days, Chilchuck thinks optimism is a dangerous flaw. He’s stressed and strict all the time because his job is noticing details like traps that could get everyone killed before anyone knows it, he takes the lives of everyone to be on his shoulders, and with the way he speaks about it that probably partly reflects how he felt about taking it upon himself to provide for his family too. His life’s always been pretty centered around work and has become even moreso now that his wife left and everyone is independent, and due to past events he’s very iffy with bonding with coworkers. He thinks feelings and job are a disaster mix. Like with his wife or with parties hiring him as sacrifice, being open or having good faith is vulnerability which can get you hurt, so he processes and shows all his stress as anger instead of worry. Doing strict dieting probably isn’t helping the irritability what with hunger, and on top of being a hunger suppressant alcohol might be the main stress reliever he has.

hello my fellow autism havers I have a favour to ask

so I've discovered one of my special interests is "people in extremely niche video game communities with extremely specific skills who do insane things with limited technology that was not designed to do the insane things they're making it do"

FOR EXAMPLE:

the 13 year old kid who just beat Tetris by reaching its killscreen for the first time in 35 years of Tetris history

Tim Follin, who made ridiculously good video game soundtracks for the most mediocre NES, SNES, and arcade games that all pushed their soundchips to their absolute limit

the half-A-press mario 64 guy who talked about parallel universes, does anyone remember that guy??

the guy who used Super Mario World's code to overwrite itself with a fully playable version of Flappy Bird

the guy who made Pokemon Red (also fully playable) inside Minecraft

I do not understand what any of these people do or how they do it, and I have no interest in doing what they do. but every single time I find out about some absolutely bonkers hyperspecific accomplishment like this, 500 million neurons fire in my brain all at once and I am enveloped in such rapturous joy that I feel like I'm going to fold up and transform into a giant mech and blast the sun into smithereens. I love these people and their achievements so so much. I love trying and failing to understand the logistics of what they did.

so basically what I am asking is if anyone knows any more about ANYTHING like this - any pro gamer, speedrunner, ROM hacker, etc, who's devoted inordinate amounts of time and energy into breaking games, pushing primitive machines to their limits, setting records I didn't know existed, and accomplishing things that have very few real-world ramifications but are cool as hell within their respective communities. the types of things that make bystanders sneer "imagine if they put this much energy into curing cancer" but make ME go "yes! yes!!! I love you for achieving your deranged goals!!! do it more!!!!!!"

be it videos, articles, or your own infodumps, I'll happily devour any information you have. thank you in advance my compatriots

Realized that in my Immortality Speedrun AU, even though Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing likely wouldn't have had the opportunity to get thrown from Heaven since they'd be working overtime at their posts, Ao Lie very much would still have the opportunity to land himself on death row as a prince, so.... The Dream Space

Promises are painted in red in the Monochrome World, the only color that exists besides black and white and occasional grays.

The Monochrome World exists just below the reality and coexists with fiction, a dream of a dream that wasn't meant to be made up of lies.

Not meant to be, but lies can be made into truths too. A never ending change.

The red dragon; dragons are usually imagined to be red aren't they? If not red, then green.

Red is the color that represents promises in the Monochrome World. A dragon entirely made up of promises.

Eksval sees a colorless world; not colorless per se but it wasn't exactly the most colorful.

It was a dull, monochrome world of black and white.

He saw it in his dreams, and his many other dreams. He never dreamed until he was an adult. This colorless world was basically all he ever dreamed about, nothing else.

In the same dream, there would be a red dragon. The only thing to have color in his dreams.

Even as the monochrome dream started to drown in the awakening waters, the dragon would stay and whisper repeated promises.

Even as the awakening waters started to fill the dream and suffocate his consciousness, the red dragon still showed him visions of broken promises and calling him a fool.

As the dream ended, with the awakening waters fully engulfing the nightmare, Eksval would wake again to live out what little of his life he actually had.

In the far future, he might drown to the awakening waters itself and never wake, or perhaps he'll die another way.

In the Monochrome World, promises come in the color red. In the monochrome dream, broken promises are colored in red.

Once Eksval seals his fate, the monochrome dream he always sees might just become a vermillion dream.

If only there was another way. But there isn't, is there? For the sake of his constructs, he'll sacrifice himself a little to let them see the true Earth, to let them experience their hard work paid off.

Even if he's not fully there with them.
