What would your inquisitor and warden think of what happened in Kirkwall? Would they have supported Hawke’s decisions?

Would your warden or Hawke have actually accepted the role of inquisitor if Cassandra had located them as she’d planned to? Would they have been a good leader for the Inquisition?

If Origins and Inquisition had the 3 personalities (Diplomatic, Sarcastic, Aggressive) which would your warden and inquisitor have predominately been? And what one did your Hawke have?

What would your inquisitor and warden think of what happened in Kirkwall? Would they have supported Hawke's decisions?

Yaviel Amell: 100% supported Winter Hawkes decisions (spare anders, side with the mages). She’s a mage and she watched what the circle did to Anders and again to Jowan. Her initial thoughts on the circle are conflicting at best (my HC is that prior to being in the Circle her mother had taken her from Kirkwall and ran from the templars to Fereldan. They lived in the slums and barely scrapped by. No feeling of security or safety) because of where she was when the Templars inevitably took her from her mother. But by the time the Blight is over she’s been anti-Circle and Templar. In fact it is well known that Carver Hawke and Anders were taken in before the Grey Wardens of Fereldan “disappeared”.

Keira Lavellan: Keira is first and foremost Dalish and then second a mage but she never had the experience that circle mages do. As a Dalish she believes everyone should be free. So I do believe she would have sided with the mages but I think she would have banished Anders. For her own safety and the safety of those she cares about. She would know he was right but she couldn’t condone what he did. But she cares for him as well even then. So she tells him to leave and they both know where he goes anyway. She’s very much a “save whoever you can” kind of person. (sometimes to her detriment)

Would your warden or Hawke have actually accepted the role of inquisitor if Cassandra had located them as she'd planned to?

Yaviel Amell: Yes. And that’s why no one would tell her. Vie is very fatalistic and has a huge Death Wish. Danger is never an issue. She would have also accepted it to keep the weight of gathering such an army off of someone else’s shoulders. Several people go to great lengths to keep her away from it. Until the giant hole in the sky. (Sidenote I have never thought of a Vie as Inky AU but I am now)

Winter Hawke: Nope. No. I’m like 99.99% sure Varric wrote her telling her what Cassandra wanted. And it’s an instant Nope. She would have stayed in hiding if it had been anyone/anything else other than Corypheus.

Would they have been a good leader for the Inquisition?

Vie: HMMM. That’s a harder question. I do see her as a strong leader, she’s been leading her Wardens for years. Even when she disappears on some secret mission for a few years. So I’d go with yes. But maybe I’m biased. The decision on who to leave in the Fade would be hard however. (wish we’d been able to kill the spider honestly). But they would beat Corphyeus rather soundly.

Winter: No. Would she have tried? Also no. She would have dipped out quick and the crew would have willingly helped her hide. But besides the controversy that would just from her being the Inquisitor (It would have bitten you in the ass Cassandra) she really wouldn’t be able to handle it. What happened in Kirkwall was something that just seemed to snowball down a hill and she could do nothing but watch as it grew to a monstrous size. She disappears for this reason. She never wanted any of this fame (or infamy) so as soon as she can she’s gone. Winter leading a chantry led organisation is also hilarious in the aspect that she hates them.

So Winter is definitely my sarcastic child. Purple Hawke 100%. And behind it all is a very distressed woman.

Vie is a little harder to decide because I have this problem with never being mean in video games and sometimes the origins choices can be a little basic so it’s hard to kind of get a tone. I’m gonna say a mix of diplomatic and aggressive?

Keira: definitely diplomatic with some sarcastic/charm thrown in. She’s Dalish but she also knows what’s at stake. The main reason she agreed to be Inquisitor is because of Solas telling her the orb is of Elvhen make. Maybe he did it on purpose but it was an instant, “This burden is on your shoulders now. And the safety of our kind also depends on it.” Worked like a charm.

Hello! How great was S2E1?!

I am lying awake (amusingly) pondering this so flight I’d ask you as I’m sure you know & could put my undresming mind to rest & your username is so fitting for my question too… which is…

Do vampires dream?

I found all the talk of Claudia dreaming or not very interesting, because in the books, vampires do not dream, do they? Or have I got it wrong?

Their sleep is the sleep of The Dead. See it as horrifying as Louis describes or as the tabula rasa, infant’s sleep; new start every night Armand describes. Either way, there are no dreams in their death-sleep, no?

And I wonder if that’s part of why they are frequently haunted by hallucinatory visions & struggle so deeply with existential traumas in waking hours… their subconscious doesn’t get the chance to dream-out any of the mess that is existence when they sleep & thus their psychological battles can only be wrangled while awake…?

So, is this intentional? Or, do show-vampires dream? Or do I have it wrong?

Vampires (in the VC) do dream.

Sometimes they even catch the transmissions of other vampires in their dreams, too, as happening in QotD.

I think them setting the dreaming up already pays both into the QotD and Amel arc later, where dreams do carry weight. And information, so it makes sense to make a point about them already (in a truly heartwrenching way, damn).

Wrt hallucinations or visions - I think it is important to remember that their minds have more... reception.

Like, the mind and spell gifts (as well as the other gifts too of course) have to originate somewhere, right, and their physical links to the vampiric body.

And so for me it is only logical - in universe - that they would "catch" more of the other frequencies, to put it that way. Hope that makes sense?^^

dead winter in the forgotten land

This is Alistair/Amell, tracing back a relationship that has fallen apart, between two people who can't let each other go:

His lips are a little dry, and his chest is solid, and she can feel his breath against her cheek. She blinks sleepily, her hair messy.

She wants a life of this. Warm and sleepy and boring. Arguing over dishes and dinner. Alistair’s arm slung over her stomach, heavy and relaxed. She used to have trouble sleeping with weight, but now, she finds she can’t sleep without it.

Recently, Amell has found herself wondering if she would be better off had she never heard of Jowan’s plan, if she had never become a Grey Warden. She would be dead, most likely, but she would be ignorant before it. And perhaps happy. She’s been talking to Wynne and thinking of sacrifice, and it’s left her feeling wrong. Wardens live to sacrifice. So do mages.

She watches him breathe lightly in sleep. The light catches his hair and he looks… different. Shiny and clean. Like a king’s son. There’s a hollow in her chest. There are many ways to sacrifice.

NAME: Gwydion Hawke

NICKNAME: Hawke, of course - the firstborn can take dibs on the family surname. And then Gideon, since 1. that's how most people misspell his actual name and 2. Varric uses it in his stories (it's “more suited for the hero”). He doesn't mind.

GENDER: Male, although he takes it easy. In a modern AU he would be the Hakwe sibling most likely to experiment with gender presentation - and in every universe he just knows he'd look good in a dress/corset.

STAR SIGN: Libra

ORIENTATION: Gay

NATIONALITY/ETHNICITY: Literally a random human born on a ship – 100% conceived in Kirkwall though.

FAVORITE FRUIT: All the citruses

FAVORITE SEASON: Early Spring

FAVORITE FLOWER: Forget-me-not, snowdrops, zagare (orange blossoms).

FAVORITE SCENT: Crushed elfroot, rain, lyrium potions - and why must lyrium be toxic when it clearly smells like raspberries and tangerines? UH? Templars are gatekeeping it. He is literally the only one saying this. At some point he’ll think fondly of sewage.

COFFEE, TEA, OR HOT CHOCOLATE: Tea, preferably cold.

AVERAGE HOURS OF SLEEP: Around 7, but not consecutive.

DOGS OR CATS: Dogs AND cats AND also every single animal willing to be pet - why would you deny a centipede some love? And did anyone actually tried to raise a baby dragon? Cowards.

DREAM TRIP: Antiva, or Rivain – it sounds fun, from Isabela’s stories, and he is intrigued by their religious customs (and generally different approach to magic). Not without 50+ SPF though, have you seen Anders' skintone?

NUMBER OF BLANKETS: Just a few, he doesn’t particularly suffer the cold – and he’s a cuddly sleeper.

RANDOM FACT: Extremely tactile, hands must be occupied (almost) all the time. He makes his own bows and then whittle silly little figurines with the scraps of wood - usually they all end up looking like chunky animals of debatable identification.

NAME: Maren Hawke

NICKNAME: Mari (used only by selected people – Bethany can, Carver may or may not find nettles in his bed the next day) and various epithets by Varric (he finds her difficult to pin down, to his extreme annoyance). When she’ll get into Kirkwall’s politics people will start to call her Lady Amell, to everyone amusement.

GENDER: Female

ORIENTATION: Official not-so-mean lesbian

STAR SIGN: Scorpio

NATIONALITY/ETHNICITY: Human, born in Ferelden, even if she doesn’t feel a strong national connection to it.

FAVORITE FRUIT: Pears, quince, pomegranates

FAVORITE SEASON: Autumn and Winter

FAVORITE FLOWER: Wild violets, daisies

FAVORITE SCENT: Parchment and ink, ambergris, wild roses’ oil, metal.

COFFEE, TEA, OR HOT CHOCOLATE: Black coffee in public, hot chocolate with lots of spices (and something sweet to eat on the side) in more private settings.

AVERAGE HOURS OF SLEEP: Better not to ask. Around 5, to avoid dreaming – she will slowly get better during the years.

DREAM TRIP: For political reasons, all the cities of the Free Marches. And Weisshaupt/the Anderfels to pester the Wardens about griffin’s eggs – because what Merrill wants, Merrill gets.

RANDOM FACT: Does she care about fashion? Not particularly, but she is highly aware of the power of appearences, and how to convey certain messages through clothes. She prefers small and significant jewelry over flashy one, but absolutely loves a nice statement headpiece, especially with some kind of drapery or veil – so she can literally put behind a curtain annoying people with a subtle turn of her head.

NAME: Malva Surana

NICKNAME: Irving’s pet, Surana, debatable variations on her name when Jowan wanted to be annoying – after the Circle, she is just Malva and then the Warden Commander.

GENDER: Do you have a gender if the circumstances of your birth make you less than a person in the eye of society? Ahaha, anyway, female.

ORIENTATION: Very queer - preference for women, but willing to experiment for the sake of it, if she fancies so. In another world, her and Gwydion would be the monsterfuckers, let’s be real.

STAR SIGN: Aquarius

NATIONALITY/ETHNICITY: Definitely a city elf (the tattoos are random lines, made by someone who wanted her to remember but had no idea how a vallaslin really looks like, or how and when they are done) – maybe from Denerim’s alienage? But as far as she knows, there is no past before Kinloch Hold.

FAVORITE FRUIT: Blackberries

FAVORITE SEASON: Spring

FAVORITE FLOWER: The kind of question that would trigger a half-an-hour-long aswer. For brevity sake: nightshade, hellebore, wisteria, ivy (not a flower, but impossible not to mention), and mallow.

FAVORITE SCENT: Burning wood, moss and damp earth, rosemary, wildberries.

COFFEE, TEA, OR HOT CHOCOLATE: Definitely tea. She is the mistress of the most absurd herbal infusions. They are great and they'll cure your cavities and other various ailments - but you don't want to know the ingredients. Don’t.

AVERAGE HOURS OF SLEEP: Between 6-8, can wake up every day at the same time without any alarm of sort.

DOGS OR CATS: If really pressed she'd say dogs (“They are great traveling companions”) but immediately regrets it because of all the fond memories of Ser Pounce-a-lot.

DREAM TRIP: The Thirashan forest, Arbor Wilds, Arlathan Forest – pretty much an elven history roadtrip to try to reclaim that part of her identity.

Sometimes spending too much time with Loghain will make your fave wrinkle unhappily when you hear the word “Orlesians”. But genuinely she’s ambivalent at best or finds them annoying at most. The very few times she’s interacted with someone from Orlais she’s walked away with a headache. Leliana is a bit different.

Winter Hawke:

“Worshipping the Maker and Andraste isn’t inherently bad. Until everyone not like you is a villain in disguise.” Mostly ambivalent however she’s not ignorant to the chantry and doesn’t like the organized side of it

11- what are her religious beliefs, if any?

It’s a begrudging kind of belief. The Chantry/Circle has been her main enemy for years. She knows what they think of her. But at the same time she hopes that this isn’t what either of them wanted when Andraste died.

Keira Lavellan:

12- attitude towards Mabari?

Very meh. It’s a very Fereldan thing and she’s not Fereldan. Cullens gets special treatment considering how happy it made him.

16- does she get sentimental about her weapons or armour?

Not particularly! Armor is armor, when its use is done time to move on and same with the weapons. Besides she prefers her spells anyway.
