I only know Mexican Spanish, so I can only speak for myself and those I grew up with but "mami" and "papi" are not the equivalent of mommy/daddy as used in sexual or intimate relations.

We use mami and papi with our kids. It's what our tíos and tías call us that affectionately. It's what the lady from the corner store calls us when she's sweet on us and can't quite remember our names. It's what our grandparents call us as they fix up a scraped knee. And they bring out papito/mamita when we're either in deep shit, or in need of comfort that can only come from someone with more knowledge, power, or experience than us. It's a diminutive term of endearment.

I'm not saying it's never used as mommy/daddy, but it's hardly ever a title. The context of it is so wildly different, because it's usually what we call someone we're responsible for.

Thank you so much dear anon for bringing this to my attention. I have to flag how this fits into the whole Max and Charles PR narrative we're seeing RBR starting to build. Charles has featured or been mentioned or alluded to on RBR social media in the past 24 hours almost as much as Checo himself, the actual RBR second driver. For all intents and purposes, RBR social media are not treating Charles like a rival competitor, rather they seem to be happily reminding us all of Max and Charles's shared history, and complimenting Charles right, left, and centre. There is no reason for RBR to give this PR to a driver of a rival team, there's no such thing as free advertising. So the question remains, why is RBR building a Charles social media campaign? And why are they building this idea of Max&Charles in the heads of their audience?

I still don't watch yellowjackets, but based on my approximate knowledge and asking for the wisdom of a beloved mootie who DOES, I think its kind of weird that some fans are saying Mari is "Indigenous" & that Shauna taking her hair is racist & specifically racist to Native Americans.

Mari's ethnicity is never specified, and even if you go with Mari being Mexican/Latina because her Actress is, idk how many times we have to go over this, but someone having some Indigenous ancestry doesn't suddenly make them Native American, including Mexicans. As far as I've been made aware, the show has made no effort in showing Mari as Indigenous or Native American, so there's no reason to believe she is. As far as I can tell, Alexa Barajas has also not identified herself as Native American.

Also "Scalping" isn't just cutting off someone's hair & taking it as a trophy, its specifically cutting away the hair ALONG with the scalp (aka, the skin attatched to the hair, its flaying them), usually while the victim is still alive, but not always. You could argue this is still racist maybe for the writers to add this in since its a White character doing it, but personally i don't think I'd say its specifically racist towards Native Americans if it's being done to a character who as far as we know, isn't Native American.
