Oracle!Reader Part 8
Masterlist - Part 1, Part 7, Part 9
Gonna be honest, Y/N is not nice in this chapter. Not like abusive but just wanted to warn ya'll. My au is supposed to be dark and cruel in a way. This is yandere imposter sagau after all.
A storm brewed above the ship as the two hydra heads roared toward the sky. Shielding your face with your arms you tried to gaze up at the towering dark blue bodies. The teal markings on its armor-like heads let you know who exactly was attacking you.
Beisht, Avenger of the Vortex. AKA Osial's wife who not only has a grudge against Liyue but Beidou specifically due to her warning Ningguang about Beisht's attack.
The Crux has probably gone hundreds of times to Inazuma peacefully but the one time you go is when they get attacked by a sea monster.
Just
Your
Fucking
Luck
Beidou's laugh rings out as the ship sways from the currents and the crewmembers start running to their weapons and positions. Not missing a beat Xinyan ends her song as she uses her vision to blast fire at Beisht.
Holy fuck, this wasn't an accident. This was planned. Beidou planned this shit and went through with it even though you, a guest, are on this crazy ship.
Anger swells up in you like a tornado and you ignore the blasts of water that try to hit the jumping form of Beidou. You look around in blind anger for one of the ballistae on the ship.
The thought of shooting either Beidou or Beisht with it was making your blood pump faster. And even if you did hit Beidou, you could always lie that you were aiming at Beisht.
You spot the closest one and start running towards it. Firm hands wrap around your waist and lift you off the ground.
"I apologize for the urgency, but this isn't a safe spot for you."
Kazuha's calm voice in your ear has a soothing effect on your temperament. Forcibly relaxing your body, you let Kazuha carry you down the stairs and he sets you down quickly in a room.
"Stay here while we take care of the sea monster. I don't want you getting hurt, it will not have mercy on you."
You clench your hands as your body trembles in anger. It's Kazuha's worried and sad eyes that make you unclench your fists.
"I know it's scary so please heed my words."
Burying your head into your knees a muffled sound of confirmation slips out. If he wants to think you're scared, let him. Some time alone might even be good for you.
Kazuha leaves and it's then that you can hear the sound of the fighting as the boat rocks. Xiangling and Xinyan's pyro make the air sticky as Kazuha swirling the water makes it humid too.
The crackling of thunder no doubt from Beidou makes you grind your teeth. You were right to be afraid of going with the Crux, she may be popular but she's far too dangerous.
That was definitely Beisht, you think back to her boss fight and remember her attacks. Shooting water, slamming her head and neck, water missiles, and wait wasn't there a third head?-
A loud bang echoes as the ship starts tilting dangerously. Yelping you shield your head from the items that start falling onto you. Another deafening thud and you're being thrown onto the opposite wall.
As more heavier items crash onto you, the wall makes a cracking sound. You couldn't be sure that it was the boat breaking but you couldn't risk it.
If you stayed here, you'll either be crushed to death or drown if that wall breaks. The Alcor keeps rocking left to right as you struggle to stand and leave the room. Closing the door shut, you know you have a few more bruises than you came in with.
The hallway is even worse than the room. Harpoons and other weapons are dangerously close to falling and you rush up the stairs to avoid that disaster.
The main deck is a chaotic mess of crewmembers running back and forth. Xiangling is continually setting wooden spears and stakes aflame before different crewmembers shoot it.
Xinyan, Kazuha, and Beidou all work together to attack Beisht's heads whenever she gets close to attack. Keeping a death grip on the railing you watch the incredible yet infuriating display of power.
Finally remembering that you'll need to defend yourself too, you go back down the stairs. Swiftly you dodge the dropping objects and get to your room. Shoving your hand into your bag and selecting the sickle, you pull it out.
The fear of dying is remedied by the weight of the weapon. Sprinting with more confidence you get back to the main deck. Both sides of the deck have one of her heads low and close ready to shoot the powerful jet of water.
Something about the way she looks is... off. Your mind wanders back to the game cutscenes and automatically compares it to what you see now.
What were once toothless jaws were now filled with layers of sharp teeth. The underbelly of her bodies looked less watery and sleeker. The fins on her back looked firmer and seemed to be in a more organized row.
Beisht shoots the water from her mouths, and you can feel how hot the water is. Xinyan is quick to dodge by climbing the stairs while Kazuha leaps using the wind. Beidou uses her skill to defend herself and rack up energy.
As the scalding water gets closer you hold the sickle to your chest and try to back away. You may be crazy but not stupid enough to try what Beidou is doing.
Surprisingly she stops only inches away from you, lifting her heads she shoots the brunt of the attack toward the sky. Hot droplets rain down on the ship as the attack dies down.
Her heads regroup and her third one appears behind the first two. All her heads roar and they slam onto the deck. Instead of slamming onto you as you expected, she boxes you in the middle of the deck instead.
As two heads serve as the walls, her third head opens its mouth. The sight of the teal muscles with holes in them makes you shudder. Would dying to a sea monster be better or worse than dying accused as an imposter?
Probably better, at least this way you would be remembered fondly and missed. Even if it's only for a short while.
"Glorious creator, it is my greatest honor to have lived long enough to meet you."
What the fuck.
The sounds of everyone else attacking Beisht's other heads are drowned out as you look up at her in shock.
"Although my husband could not meet you, he was a devoted believer. These puny mortals are having you travel in such conditions with such little glory. Do these pirates not know your greatness?!"
Her tone gets louder as she speaks about the Crux. How could she recognize you as the creator? Were you right in guessing that the creatures of Teyvat could recognize you? But she's more on the god side so how could she realize but not Ei?
"Beisht, how have you heard of me?" If sea monsters gods could smile then that's exactly what Beisht was doing.
"Your blood, your grace. They bleached your gold blood. They hurt you with violent intentions. Just as the scriptures said, the offenders will pay for hurting you. Teyvat is calling upon your true worshippers to deliver justice."
This doesn't make complete sense. Beishts own arrogance and hatred for Liyue is having an impact on her words. What does seem to be true is that Teyvat was alerted when you got hurt and is drawing strong creatures that it can connect with to you.
"Then this is something we should be talking with less distractions." Choosing your words carefully, you note how everyone has been listening to your conversation with Beisht.
It's a good thing they can't understand her. Whether she's intentionally not letting them understand her or not isn't important.
You motion Beisht to back away with a flick of your wrist. Beisht is expecting you to act like the creator, you need to play your part. This whole situation is a golden opportunity.
Beisht obeys your silent command and moves her heads off the boat. Beidou is the first to run up to you with how close she is. The battle comes to a silent pause as everyone watches your seemingly unharmed form with relief.
"Are you okay?!" The urge to scoff and give a snarky response is strong but you push it down. With a solemn expression, you speak clearly.
"I've been granted a rare opportunity to talk with Beisht according to the creator's will. I have messages to relay to her but I cannot do so with everyone here."
A rare confused expression crosses Beidou's face at your words as you step away from her and move closer to Beisht. With a tight grip on your sickle, you speak calmly to Beisht.
"Come closer so we can speak somewhere with more privacy. The matter of the divine isn't one to always be so open about."
Beisht seems to pick up on the identity you have in the eyes of the Crux and lowers her main head onto the boat. With confident strides, you walk to her head and climb on.
Fear and worry rise within you as you grip the middle feeler on her head and look at the Crux with a smile.
"I'll be back soon, so don't stop sailing. I'll catch up before you know it."
Your grip on the feeler becomes tight as Beisht's head suddenly drops into the water. A scream instinctively leaves your throat from the sudden gesture.
The last thing you saw before the ocean engulfed you was the various expressions of horror and fear on everyones faces. A small part of you smirks at the guilt that paints Beidou's face.
You shut your mouth and eyes expecting the salty water to drown you. Yet not even a drop of water touches you and the sight of the vast ocean surrounds you.
In awe you watch the air bubble around you supplying you with oxygen and shielding you from the water. Fish swim past as Beisht continues to descend into the depths.
Soon enough the only light around is the teal markings on her body. It reminds you of just how frightening the ocean can be. That at any moment Beisht could think that you're an imposter too and let you drown here...
Tightening your grip on her, you push those thoughts away. They will only hinder you, being nervous will make everything worse. You've made it this far, haven't you?
As a distraction, you think about how exactly this air bubble is being made. Was it Beisht, Teyvat, or did you unconsciously do it? Considering that you can only control elements that you accessed from the Statue of the Sevens then it can't be you.
Beisht was connected to the vortex and water. This air bubble wasn't just reusing your oxygen, it was supplying fresh oxygen. She can't control oxygen so that only leaves Teyvat. Then how could Teyvat protect you from drowning but let the electro from Ei hurt you?
Beisht finally stops and you can vaguely see the outline of her main body due to the glowing teal marks. It keeps reminding you of a certain god masquerading as a bard.
"Your grace, I see the false identity you hold in front of them. Yet I do not hold the same wisdom you hold, please enlighten me on why you hide yourself."
Her vocabulary is naturally arrogant but the tone she says it all in, sounds like she's imploring. It's good, you can utilize this and her natural dislike for humans.
"Coming back from that other world has left me very weak. I have little memories of when I was the creator and this body is weak. They see my unmasked face and assume I'm an imposter. Ei was the main culprit. Just a mask would solve that but my mere presence shows my divinity. Quite a few of my acolytes barely believe my words as an oracle, I would be a fool to publically reveal myself as the creator."
Your words are spoken with a sense of coldness as if you're completely detached from the situation. The water around you seems to raise a few degrees. Taking a risk you speak lowly with a mix of sadness and condescension.
"Humans and Archons are not that different. They cannot accept the truth if it's different than what they expect or desire. Greed and pride have always been the downfall of humans."
"Your grace, they do not deserve your attention or words. The Electro Archon will pay for harming you. They will all pay for hurting you. Thank you for teaching me, I will do your bidding. I will make sure that you'll never need to worry about me acting as foolish as those Archons."
Perfect, it's exactly what you wanted.
"We will take over and subdue Teyvat for harming you. We'll lay the Archons, humans, and anything else that dares defy you at your feet. We will make them atone for their sins. That pirate crew will be the first to pay! Not only have I lost my husband and child to them, they even harmed you!"
What child? They had a kid??? Wait that can come later, Beisht going out of control would harm the reputation you've built up, this has to stop!
"Silence." Your command is swift and your gaze is cold as you stare down Beisht. The quiet that comes makes you smile inwardly. Playing hot and cold towards someone who idolizes you tends to make them more attached. More desperate to keep your wavering love and affection.
"Now, now don't get too worked up. Going off and doing whatever you wish in my name is contradictory to what you said earlier."
"I beg for your forgiveness, your grace." Beisht lowers her heads in shame. A kind smile crosses your face and you reach through the bubble to pet her heads.
"I forgive you Beisht, mistakes are part of the learning process. You've already done so well in recognizing me. Why don't you start by answering my questions first? What happened to your child?"
Beisht closes her eyes and bubbles float up as her heads sigh in content over your touch.
"My child, born from Osial and I, fought for days against that pirate ship. In the end, they killed my child and his murderer gained a vision from it. Celestia truly mocks the defeated from the Archon War."
Sea monster, 'that' pirate ship, and a vision from his death.
Haishan is her child.
No wonder she hates Beidou so much. She basically killed her whole family!
"Haishan has lived in my name and with his death, he returned to me too. I can tell your anger is as great as your sorrow. Take comfort in my words and let your anger fuel your devotion to me."
Loneliness is a manipulator's best friend. Beisht is terribly lonely and will cling to you and your words as her only lifeline. And in your situation, a dog like this will be needed.
"I will your grace, someday I too will return to your loving embrace through death."
Gently she nuzzles your hands with her heads. Tracing the glowing marks that adorn her head you ask in a soothing voice.
"Tell me how you came to find me."
"After the battle with Liyue and the human-adepti I retreated to the depths of the ocean to heal myself. I was dormant when Teyvat called us. It spoke about harm coming to you, at how your gold blood had been bleached."
"Who is 'us'? You also referred to yourself as 'we' earlier too."
"I was not the only one stirred by Teyvat. The water has become more lively with strong elemental currents. I do not doubt that there are even more beings awakening on land. We are all being called to defend you and pay back your liquid gold blood. After so long without you, we are regaining our reason for living."
So if many other elemental monsters are being 'stirred' then that means you could get more allies. Guoba didn't even know he used to be a god until he was told so was it in character or not that he knew you were the creator? You'll need to find more evidence on land but this was leading to a favorable situation.
But Beisht's fixation on your blood being gold was not good. You'll have to address that now. If you wait too long and it reveals outside of your control she'll believe that you were lying to her. God knows what she would do to you then.
"On the topic of my blood, there is something I must clear up. My blood is not gold, it is red."
An eery stillness takes over the atmosphere and you seemingly look down at the 3-headed hydra. The feeling of her scales seems to heat up a little, gritting your teeth you continue.
"I sincerely hope that you are not doubting me. The scriptures never said that my blood itself was gold. The true meaning of that text is that my blood is as precious as gold."
Your blank expression and sharp eyes don't leave her. In one hand you hold your sickle above and electro-coats it with a dangerous crackle.
The looming threat of death washes over you as the sickle crackles with more ferocity. Teyvat heeds your silent wishes and hydro starts rapidly spinning around you. Swiftly you thrust it into the water and it hits Beisht as she thrashes from the pain.
"Forgive me! Forgive me! Forgive this arrogant and foolish follower!"
She roars and begs, your heart is as tight as your grip on her but the sickle still crackles in the water. She's a sea monster and that's the only reason she hasn't died yet.
It's only the sight of toasted pieces of sleek flesh on her that you pull the sickle out of the water and back into the air bubble. The electro fizzles out and Beisht's sad wails echo around you.
She's whimpering and begging with near-silent pleas for forgiveness. Your hand is gentle and warm on the head that she is carrying you on.
"Hush now Beisht, this punishment was something you brought onto yourself. Never doubt my words, my teaching is law. Do you see how futile suspecting and denying me of my divinity is? Crimson or gold, my blood is not what matters most, it is I that exist above you."
Beisht's body seems to curl around the air bubble you stand in as you continue petting and soothing her. Your pleasant humming is a sharp contrast to your rapid heartbeat.
You were either going to die to Beisht or die to your electro. But this turned out better than you originally thought. Even though it hurt you to cause the one powerful ally you have pain, it was necessary. You can never let her entertain the idea of betraying you.
If you must play the role of oracle in front of the others then you must play the role of creator in front of the rest. Y/N was the oracle, the creator, and most importantly a liar.
"The fact that you could sense my presence on that boat intrigues me. How could you sense me while Ei could not? The same goes for the other Archons, surely they would have felt Teyvat's call too."
"The Archons accepted Celestia's power which drew them away from you. They worship you the mortal or human method more often than the way elemental beings do. Changing their style of worship may have connected them to other mortals better but it also muddled their sense of hearing Teyvat"
Her voice is hoarse and low, humbled after her punishment. Your smile was kind and your touch tender, but the sly part of your heart reveled in it.
"Tell me the difference between the two."
"Elemental beings worship by sacrificing parts of themselves to you. Some offer up energy, blood, lifeforce, and others give limbs. Only their own, offering up anyone else's would be sacrilegious. As elemental beings, we will always heal and reform. Celestia has possibly blinded them to the consequences of forsaking our worship to keep them away from you."
Now that was one of the most useful pieces of information you've gained thus far. What would happen if you convinced one of the Archons, not counting Ei, to try this style of worship? Would it enhance your position as the oracle, make you more suspicious, or give them the idea that you might be the creator?
Your thoughtfulness seems to make Beisht anxious, that's understandable seeing as you've proven to be volatile in her eyes. With a nearly patronizing pat on her head, you speak with a happy tone.
"As the creator, I require both elemental and human worship. I have many plans and it includes you Beisht. With each nation I visit and interactions with the Statues of the Seven, I gain more power. I will need you to spread the truth of my arrival to those who Teyvat awoke. Can I trust you with that?"
"It is a privilege to serve you, beloved creator. I will travel through the ocean and fulfill your command." She's clearly enthusiastic and grateful. You have her right where you want her.
"Stay quiet and careful, avoid fighting in general. I have much of the world to explore on my own and see to tell who deserves my forgiveness when everything is revealed. No rushing, I have a long life to live. The other elemental creatures will have the information I need too."
"I understand your grace. At this point and time, your main attention is to investigate the mortal's faith. I will stay unnoticed after this point so that I do not hinder your plan."
You had no plan on revealing your status as the creator. These words were only said to keep Beisht calm and peaceful. Beisht has such a terrible reputation as a villain that if she told the truth, it would only make them all think worse of you.
The little pieces of evidence you have acquired, proving your title might be enough if you were in regular Genshin Impact. But in this world with obsession, death, and violence, you could not claim that so easily. Beisht better be prepared to wait a long time, if not your whole life span which might not be long considering your luck.
"Can I really trust your words Beisht? You think lowly of the mortals for harming me but you have hurt me as well. And it's not when you doubted me, I'm talking about how you hurt me physically."
Your words are like a bucket of cold water. The suspicious gaze she receives from you makes her stutter.
"W-What do you mean your grace? The moment I spotted you, I drew away."
'Pathetic' that's what your expression told her. That's exactly what you thought of her. Her lie specifically.
"Never try to lie to me. This is your only warning. When you rose from the water, you spotted me first but you let yourself be distracted by the sight of Beidou. So caught up in the fight, it wasn't until I got banged up by everything that you finally spotted me and remembered your original task."
The words seem to hit the nail on the head as Beisht lowers herself to you. With an ominous air, you swing the sickle back and forth.
"I will not deny my sins. I lied to you and tried to hide it. Whatever punishment you choose is one I will accept wholeheartedly." Her voice wavers and cracks. She's scared and your smile makes her tremble beneath you.
But it seems to wash away as you rest your upper body on her head closest to you. Ignoring the lingering water droplets you pet her softly.
"It's okay Beisht, I know you were emotional after seeing Beidou. The pain and wrath were hard to fight wasn't it?" The forgiving voice you used was almost like a mask as you traced her scales using the sickle at the same time.
Unnerved, confused, grateful, and scared Beisht sounds like she's near tears.
"Thank y-you, your grace. The mercy you have on your creations is not something we deserve yet you give it anyway."
"I've been hurt so many times Beisht. So you'll prove yourself worthy of my trust right?" The sickle gets stuck at the brightest teal scale on her main head's forehead.
"Take this scale off and give it to me. This will be proof of your devotion to me." You whisper the command disguised as a request.
Without hesitation, Beisht's second head comes closer and you move away just in time to see her tug the scale off with her mouth. It's placed at your feet and it glimmers as you pick it up.
"It's beautiful Beisht. I will accept this as proof of your faith in me. It's time for me to be returned to the ship, do not forget what I have told you."
"Yes, your holiness." The attitude she has is much more subdued than the one she held when you first went down with her. You can now safely trust that in a worst-case scenario, you'll go to the ocean and have her bring you somewhere safe.
Fish and other sea creatures swim past you as Beisht brings you back to the boat. It's a lot further than when you left but that's no problem for the leviathan.
The Alcor is above you and Beisht only raises her head that has you on her above water. The air bubble dissolves and the sun shines down on you. The heat of it is welcomed after staying in the freezing deep for so long.
Yet it's the bright flash of electro that you are greeted with as Beidou jumps toward Beisht.
Thoughts bombard your mind on what to do, what to say. Electro, hydro, claymore, Beidou, Beisht, sickle, and defend!
With adrenaline and fear coursing through your veins, you bring your sickle up as a defense. Electro meets electro as the force of the blow keeps you both locked in place.
Planting your feet steady on Beisht's head, you grit your teeth and push harder against Beidou. In mere seconds your electro overpowers hers and Beidou is struck back to the boat with a pained yell.
The crew, Xinyan, and Xiangling rush to where Beidou was thrown. A sense of deja vu fills you as Kazuha jumps to you and quickly carries you away from Beisht.
After smoothly landing and setting you behind him, Kazuha brandishes his sword in Beisht's direction. The multiple cuts and bruises on his body show just how injured he got in the earlier battle.
A small part of you can't help but feel touched by his protection. Even though it's entirely unnecessary. Why didn't he immediately go check on Beidou? They are very close after all...
Letting that thought fade away, you place your hand on Kazuha's shoulder and smile reassuringly at him. Beidou grunts as she's helped out of the mess of broken wood.
A brief sense of vindication enters you at the sight of the multiple wounds on her, mostly likely from the previous battle. Splinters and new scrapes cover her exposed skin and a particularly big one went through her left palm.
The blood mixes with the wood chips as it drips off her palm. She's grabbing her weapon again and tries to head toward Beisht. Quickly you move to stand in front of her.
"It's alright Beidou, Beisht isn't going to attack anymore." Beidou's eyes widen as she takes in the sight of you. Not a single scrap or drop of blood is on you.
Turning back to Beisht, you motion her to leave with a hand gesture. Obediantly Beisht dives back into the water and disappears.
The waves start to calm and the clouds slowly disperse. You think of the electro you used against Beisht and Beidou. The control you have over it has been growing, despite how dangerous it is, you'll need more power.
Eyes widening in surprise you're spun around by Beidou as she checks your body throughly.
"I was so sure you died, I never meant to hit you with my claymore. I'm beyond grateful that the creator protected you." Your earlier spiteful joy at her injuries melts into guilt at the caring way she was handling you.
Smiling sheepishly you pat her uninjured shoulder.
"If the creator wanted me to die by Beisht then I would accept that wholeheartedly. I'm sorry for worrying you and everyone else."
That small petty part of you wanted to bring up how this all could have been avoided by just not provoking Beisht since they didn't know she was looking for you. But maybe you'll do that when everyone isn't injured.
"I'm not sure whether to applaud you or scold you for doing something so reckless but I think that would be counterproductive at this point."
Beidou shakes her head as she speaks before sighing. Turning back to her crew and friends her voice rises above the murmur of everyone else's conversation.
"Listen up everyone! Beisht has fled this area, but we can always be attacked at a later date. Get inside, rest up, and prepare to arrive at Liyue tomorrow morning!"
Multiple "Yes, Captain!" can be heard directly after her words before they scatter to various activities. You still need to talk to Beidou but she beats you to it.
"Y/N, I need to speak to you about the situation with Beisht. I'll get cleaned up in the medical bay and meet you at the head of the ship."
You nod and head to where she was pointing. Kazuha, Xiangling, and Xinyan follow Beidou to the medical bay. Would they be a part of whatever conversation Beidou wants to have with you?
Swinging your legs as you sit on the edge of the boat, the calm waves draw your gaze. What will Beidou tell you? What lies will you spin to protect yourself?
It's the thumps of footsteps behind you that alert you to Beidou's arrival. With a friendly smile directed at her, you suppress the urge to laugh at the feeling of eyes on you.
Xiangling is most likely in the kitchen as Guoba is nowhere to be seen. Kazuha and Xinyan on the other hand may have been instructed to watch or listen while hiding.
You already knew your stunt may have bad consequences if you aren't careful but you didn't think Beidou would make your job so easy. After all, the more people that hear this conversation, the farther your reputation will spread.
"Hope you didn't wait too long Y/N," Beidou speaks amiably as she strolls over to sit next to you. Her mood is hard to read with the way she smiles but you can still guess accurately.
"I'm all good, I would even say that the break was appreciated with how tired I was."
"Then let's not waste any more time. I'm not here to interrogate you as much as I'm here to explain myself. I put the Crux and you into a life-threatening situation and although everyone else knows exactly what can happen, you did not. I'm sorry about that."
Your feet hit the boat at a slow pace as you think about her words. Now that the anger and chaos of that situation has calmed down, you aren't nearly as annoyed. Not up to talking just yet, you simply nod.
Taking it in stride Beidou starts explaining.
"For the past few days, monsters and leylines have been unusual. The leylines are spawning in new areas with stronger enemies than usual. The behavior of the monsters is strange too. They wander around as if looking for something and the boss monsters have become less violent. It's worrying and on our way to Inazuma, I saw the ocean change. That's why I had Xinyan perform to draw attention."
Seems Beisht was right to guess that other monsters were becoming aware. Hilichurls may respawn but you aren't sure if another monster species that canonically don't regenerate will still be alive. You need to speak with the enemies most likely to recognize you.
"Seeing Beisht listen to you was shocking. I mean she has always been hostile towards people. I don't wanna push you to speak but I would like to know what happened."
"When I was forced onto the main deck to avoid being crushed by the boxes I saw a part of the battle. That's when I realized that I could understand Beisht and the creator ordered me to speak with her privately. Who am I to disobey? The conversation was enlightening, to say the least, and what you just told me has confirmed it."
Your dramatic and cryptic words confuse your listeners. Standing up and balancing on the edge of the boat you continue speaking.
"I have been granted a prophecy! Well more like a revelation of the current and future events. The creatures of Teyvat are exhibiting new behaviors due to the creator's will. Of course that doesn't mean we'll stop defeating them, just don't take it as some grand evil rising."
The nearly childlike joy you speak with only confuses Beidou further. She stands up and tries to hold your shoulder but you twirl away from the edge.
"When was the last time we saw sudden differences in behavior?" Your words are spoken with a carefree smile as you continue dancing away.
"That would be when the traveler arrived on Teyvat and leading to the awakening of acolytes of course!"
You playfully tug the white ahoge that sticks out from Kazuha's hiding spot. He doesn't even seem glum at being found so quickly.
"And why did that all start happening?"
The feeling of eyes watching you faded as Beidou moves closer to the spot you stood with spread arms. Xinyan wasn't here but that's fine, the story you've spun will be spread either way.
"Because the creator's return was starting to approach! It may be worrisome because the creatures may harm people more than they did before but that doesn't mean we can't celebrate that the creator is a step closer to coming back."
In reality, you just wanted more allies. Paraphrasing everything to fit the narrative that you desire was easy in this situation. Very few people could tell if you were lying or not after all. In fact, some would even-
"Agreed. At the same time this all has been happening, the wind had gotten stronger. It's crisp and clear, it has become more active in communication too."
Between your celebratory smile and Kazuha's serene expression, Beidou had nothing to refute with. Instead, a wide grin crosses her face and you stumble as she drags you and Kazuha down to the main deck.
"Then what are we waiting for?" Everyone's eyes are drawn to Beidou as she yells. "The creator is a step closer to coming back to Teyvat and we all witnessed it! So let's celebrate like we mean it!"
It's impressive how nearly all of them already grabbed a glass of beer and raised it at her words. Cheers were heard all around as they raised the glasses and drank cheerfully.
Beidou had already released you and Kazuha to grab her drinks. Your eyes linger on the bloodied bandage wrapped around her palm. It was still bleeding heavily.
A familiar tug on your clothes brings your attention down to Guoba.
"Lala? Lalala!"
You don't fight the caramel-colored panda as he drags you toward the kitchen. It also doesn't let you notice how Kazuha was reaching out to you before being dragged into a conversation.
Xiangling runs around the kitchen with a tired but bright smile as you are pulled in.
"Thank you Guoba for bringing Y/N here! You can have this spicy cornbread as a treat."
She's quick to place a plate of food on the table and return to cooking. The sight of Guoba's food reminds you of your last conversation with Xiangling.
Yeah, you aren't forgetting that for a long time.
"Sorry for calling you here after so much went on, I just had another favor to ask you. I was curious if you can bless food the same way the creator can."
Wasn't she the one who fought a leviathan, is still somewhat injured, and went straight to cooking??
"I've never tried to bless food before but I would be happy to try! What food exactly do you want me to bless?"
Blessing food the same way the creator does sounds a lot like how you would feed the characters in the game. The most likely method would be cooking the food yourself and seeing if it had any effects.
The only other way you could think of blessing food would be by putting some part of your body into it. Which would be disgusting and a pain to do so, so hopefully you just need to cook it.
"I want it for Beidou to heal her hand. It's bleeding pretty heavily and she needs it to use her weapon. I was thinking something easy like sticky honey roast."
"Then just leave it to me Xiangling, do you have the recipe?"
"Yep! Right here." She hands you a slightly charred paper before scurrying over to a pot that's almost boiling over. Would you need to cook this manually or just use a pot like in the game?
The recipe consisted of 3 meat, 2 carrots, and 2 sugar. Nothing else was written on it... How were you supposed to cook with only this?!
Sighing you take the ingrains as the young chef runs around the kitchen. With a lingering sense of unease, you drop the ingredients into the pot and light the fire.
You turn around to grab something to stir it and look back to see it cooked.
Standing there stunned, you look at the perfect sticky honey roast sitting innocently in the pot. Deciding to count your blessings, you serve it on a plate and confidently call it blessed food as you hand it to Beidou.
It works surprisingly well, the bandage is unwrapped to see the skin sewn back together and most likely repaired. Beidou whistles as she examines her hand.
"Gotta hand it to you kid, this is pretty impressive. I usually have to wait for the creater to come and heal me up or wait ages for it to get healed properly."
"This was all Xianglings idea, she deserves the praise. I'll be sure to tell her the good news." You leave as Beidou begins drinking faster with her healed hand.
So you basically never need to cook again, what luck! Would giving someone a fried egg, bring someone back to life? Or would it wake someone up from a concussion or coma? That would all depend on whether characters are dead or just passed out when their HP reaches 0.
Walking into the kitchen, Xiangling is busy putting the final touches on the feast she prepared.
"Got good news for you Xiangling. The blessed food worked and Beidou's hand doesn't even have a scar."
"That's great to hear! I was pretty worried she would have permanent damage or something. She always brushes her wounds off if they aren't life-threatening."
Xiangling pouts at the memory of Beidou's recklessness as you take the initiative to help her. The silence is nice but your thoughts keep wandering back to the human remains.
"Hey Xiangling, I've got a question for you but this might be the wrong time to ask." The look she sends you is one full of curiosity.
"What happened to the families of those you killed and made into food? Did they not get a burial, casket, or at least an urn?"
The expression she wears is a mixture of guilt and disgust.
"Blasphemous people like them do not deserve a funeral. They die and everyone will scorn them for betraying the creator. Most families disown that person or act like they were never part of their family."
She stays kneeling by the cart of food and Guoba trods over to her with his usual carefree attitude. She holds him close and speaks sadly.
"They do deserve punishment for what they did but I want to believe the creator would want them to perish with some good blooming from it. At least by cooking them, that person can help another life grow, and my cooking skill improve."
Each time you ask something like this whether it's Inazuma or Liyue, the situations are always so much worse than you thought. To think what you thought Xiangling did from some sick sense of worship, which isn't entirely false, was mostly born from her signature kindness.
Do you condemn her, comfort her, or encourage her?
"We may never know exactly what the creator thinks, all we can do is keep moving forward. For what it's worth, I don't think you're in the wrong. Your intentions are pure and it's not like your actions can make the situation any worse than it already is."
You bend down and place your hands on her shoulders. She looks up at you and smiles happier at your caring expression.
"Enough about that. Let's go bring these dishes out so we and everyone else can enjoy them. We should be celebrating after all!"
The prep she usually has comes back and she's pushing the cart as you follow behind her. Everyone cheers as Xiangling hands out food and people sit down.
Picking a plate of F/F, you sit on a crate next to Xinyan and Kazuha. Beidou seemed to disappear somewhere with Xiangling again.
The taste and texture are like nothing you've tasted before. Whatever she did to make your favorite food taste even better needed to be shared with you.
"Real happy with that dish aren't ya?" Xinyan comments as you basically inhaled everything but the plate.
"If this dish was meant to be savored then she shouldn't have made it taste this good."
Xinyan laughs at your words before continuing to eat the spicy food she has on her plate. By the overload of spices you can smell, it must be one of Xiangling's creations that Xinyan is so happy to try.
"Now that things have calmed down, I wanted to tell you that I loved your music! It was a bit worrisome with all the fire but I understand that you needed it for the battle."
"Aw, that's real nice to hear! Most of my performances tend to burn down the stage but rock 'n' roll is all about that kind of fire."
"Must have taken you a long time to learn how to use your instrument and vision without burning down everything."
Your comment is casual as you start eating one of the desserts Xiangling brought out. Alcohol is starting to be passed around, you aren't sure if you should drink or not.
"I practiced loads with people as the 'audience'. They all died during the test runs but it's fine since they were already known for being sacrilegious. Burning them to death as a sacrifice was the best thing they could hope for."
The dessert gets stuck in your throat at her words. Coughing a little, you keep your head down to avoid showing your face. Kazuha rubs your back trying to help you.
Was it a trend for pyro-vision women to tell you horrible things with complete ease?! First Xiangling with the cannabilism to Xinyan sacrificing people...
"That was legal, right? Do you still sacrifice people like that?" You struggle not to stutter and Kazuha is still watching you with that same worried expression.
"It is legal in Liyue with the right certifications. Not long ago you had that private concert with the burning of a few treasure hoarders if I remember correctly."
Xinyan nods in agreement at Kazuha's words.
Maybe you should stop being surprised and just expect everyone to have committed crimes like this. What's next? Brainwashing?
Kazuha and Xinyan continue to chat about whatever burning they may or may not have participated in as Xiangling comes over with some alcohol.
"Sorry to interrupt but I was wondering if any of you guys wanted some beer, rum, or grog. Grog is the lightest since it's just water and alcohol. I might just drink that since I just became old enough to drink."
"I'll just have a glass of beer, I have another concert tomorrow and the last thing I want is a hangover." Xinyan is quick to take a swing of the beer.
"I'll pass on the alcohol today, I drank enough yesterday." Kazuha glances at you as he speaks with a slightly nervous tone, no doubt remembering his behavior when he first met you.
"Could I have some rum? I wanna celebrate a lot after completing the first major mission from the creator." Discarding your previous thought of avoiding alcohol, you decided to drink to congratulate yourself for surviving this long.
Definitely not because you wanted a distraction from what you just heard from Xinyan. Nor of the idea that Liyue may be even harder to live in due to their dependency on Rex Lapis. That may or may not have also pushed them to be even more fanatic for the 'creator'.
The rum was sweet but it burned as it traveled down your throat. The strong liquor made your head spin for a split second. You're quickly coming to regret it.
"Hey, Kazuha? Can you watch over me as I drink? This rum is stronger than the drinks I'm used to."
You ask Kazuha with a flushed face as you rest on his shoulder. The lights shine down on you as everyone else is up enjoying themselves. As sweet as always, Kazuha smiles down at you and nods.
"I promise to watch over you. No harm will come to you especially as I don't plan on drinking a single drop."
Feeling reassured you thank him and continue drinking. The party is getting louder and messier with each drink given around.
Xinyan is singing and strumming her guitar as a good chunk of the crew sings along with her. Xiangling was passed out on a crate as her tolerance for it was still low. Beidou was the only one you couldn't see from your spot on Kazuha's shoulder.
"You're the work hard, play hard type huh?"
You sway a little as you jump in surprise at the voice so close to your ear. Kazuha peers around you at Beidou who was standing firmly despite the amount of liquor she already drank.
A feeling nags you that Beidou is still as sharp as ever. Someone who drinks as much as she does must have a high tolerance. The smell of alcohol is strong as she speaks.
"You didn't strike me like the type to drink rum, I would have thought you would go for a beer or just a single glass."
You follow her gaze to the multiple glasses next to you. It seems you drank a lot more than you initially planned.
"Don't look so disappointed Y/N! It's normal to want to relax with a good drink after such a long day. This is a celebration too. Let all your worries melt away."
She speaks with a cheer and your hazy mind makes you smile up at her. Your worries, anxiety, and general distrust of everything are the farthest thing in your mind.
The sharp smile Beidou sends Kazuha as he tightens his grip around your waist goes unnoticed. The weird tension that occurs is gone just as fast as it came and the liquor seems to hit you full force.
"I think I need to sleep, it's really hitting me now." Your head keeps falling onto his shoulder as you struggle to keep your eyes open.
"I'll escort you to your room Y/N-" "And I'll join you two with Xiangling, poor girl couldn't even handle the grog."
Kazuha's face is frozen in a smile as you drunkenly nod at Beidou. Xinyan who is still pretty sober waves at you all and you wave enthusiastically back.
Giggling as the room spins you let your body rest on Kazuha as he helps you down the stairs. Xiangling is thrown over Beidous shoulder as she follows you both down the stairs.
"If I ever let myself drink after this, I wanna drink with you next time Kazuha. Wouldn't it be fun?"
"That does sound nice, I'm sure the wind will have us meet again after this trip." Kazuha's voice can be barely heard through the fog in your mind. A crooked smile is on your face as you nod sleepily.
Fears of the future seem far away at this moment. The fear of coming across a statue of the seven and Zhongli appearing is like a distant memory. The mental image of saying the wrong thing, getting caught with the wrong group, and getting a torturous death is comparable to a dream.
As the urge to close your eyes gets stronger and harder to resist, you instinctively adjust your mask.
Your fragile and most important defense against a repeat of the Ei situation. Terror squeezes your heart as you realize just how dangerous this situation is.
All it takes is for Kazuha to remove the mask during your drunkenness. Whether it be out of curiosity of your face or kindness thinking it would be uncomfortable to sleep with it on.
Nothing you think, worry, fear, or do will matter after that. Despite the dismay, your eyes close as the urge to sleep overtakes you. With your consciousness drifting away and your body in the ronin's mercy.
I was really excited to post this chapter. Everyone's reaction to Xiangling's cooking was super funny. (Fixed it up on mobile so forgive the mistakes.) On the topic of Beisht, I have to say that my original plan was to have it be a oc. Haishan's ancestor from the Archon War. But after everyone was guessing Beisht, I started thinking if it could work. And surprisingly it did! All the main points I had with the oc worked with Beisht. Plus Haishan was still able to stay as a kid cause a visionless Beidou defeating a whole sea monster god just doesn't make a lot of sense unless he wasn't full-grown. And I honestly don't want to create an oc if I don't have to. I don't trust myself that much. Xiangling's cannibalism was supposed to be just a one-time thing. But a certain person mentioned Hu Tao and I realized I forgot to incorporate the rest of the world into it. So that's what inspired me to think deeper on it. I'm quite happy with how it turned out! It confirms Xianglings kindness, and the cruelty of the cult, and can help excuse any future plot holes I may accidentally create. So thank you certain person that I will not name in case that's uncomfy. I also wanted to ask ya'll a question. Do you guys expect certain sagau tropes from this series? Like I incorporated popular stuff like healing foods, mentions of gold blood, etc. But the only thing that I've really made set in stone in my sagau is the cult au and imposter au (without a true imposter masquerading as Y/N). I'm asking since I don't want people expecting something like a character to recognize us (like Fatui or acolytes from Khanriah -kaeya for example). Then get disappointed when I don't ever do that. Not saying I won't have interactions with those characters! I just don't want to lead anyone on. If you read this far then thank you <3. I really appreciate ya'll support. Just seeing a notification that I got a heart, comment, reblog or message makes my day. Doodle dump bc I wanted to post something part two (part one here)
Alcor outfit doodles, including my Clown Alcor, and Magical Girl Alcor! (Also him at a mermaid bar (at an embassy) mentioned in chapter two of RB, using @that-ghosts-art mermaid Dipper design) also an Off-Model Alcor from TBOB
Quarantine AU dipper (based on Giving up, Giving in by @toothpastecanyon )
More Clown Alcor
(The ballon was going to be human intestines but I forgot)
I think it’d be cool if Lucy Ann and Dipper sometimes hang out in their animal forms to be less noticeable. I don’t know how TAU vampires work, but for now I’m gonna say that Lucy Ann can only turn into a (vampire) bat, while Dipper’s most common animal forms are a cat, a crow or a raven, and maybe a bat when spending time with Lucy Ann.
I made Alcor a fruit bat (a flying fox specifically) for a few reasons
He’s fruity
They’re cute
Big and scary to a lot of people
Bigger than Lucy Ann’s bat form (I want her to be able to ride on his back)
Dark with golden-ey colors

hi kiri! i really love your works they never fail to amaze me
may i request sick kazuha with a reader who takes care of him and feeds him soup and stuff?
take care and stay hydrated 🫶
₊˚ ᗢ sick! kazuha x gn!reader.
⤷ taking care of him when he's sick.
⤷notes; thank you so much for the support! and of course, I’ll fulfill your request!
Sick! Kazuha coughing into the back of his hand despite your protests to do it into his elbow. He weakly smiles at you, saying that it's a lot of work and that it was instinctive, but he will eventually listen to you. Only if you press a few soft kisses on his forehead. You would roll your eyes for the hundredth time, yet nevertheless, will give in to his whines and begs.
For him to get sick because he stayed out in the cold night… how foolish. When you first heard the news from Beidou, you almost choked on your drink and left your seat in a hurry, looking for the blond-haired man. You scolded him first for not wearing anything warm during the night, to which he would blurt out any sort of sweet excuse that might sway you. He would say that he was reciting poetry for you. However, you knew that he could do it at any other time, and at the very least, wear a sweater or scarf to stay warm.
If he were to catch a fever, and you have to place a towel on him, he would take the time to brush aside your hair when you lean over him. Even in his sick state, he doesn’t miss the opportunity to leave you as red-faced as him. You find it rather sweet, albeit a little worrying whenever he starts to tell you that he feels faint. You would be careful as to handling him, only requesting that he sit up slightly so that you could feed him.
He notes that while he can’t taste much of the flavor, he’ll eat everything you give him. He appreciates your efforts more than anything and it would be a shame to let the food you made specifically for him go to waste. If you still have leftovers after he recovers, he’ll be sure to continue eating them until there is none left. He’ll complain or bark up a conversation with Beidou if he finds out that she had stolen the rest of the porridge from the fridge.
You work tirelessly to keep him from feeling any sicker than he already was. You were popping in and out of the room once in a while, busying yourself with your duties on the Alcor alongside his. He notes that on occasion, you would fall asleep at the edge of the bed with a towel in your hand, and a wet bucket beside you. He thinks that in the process of waiting for him to wake up, you had too fallen asleep. He would quietly laugh before combing through your tangled hair, smiling at your peaceful figure.
“Thank you,” he says, “I hope that when I recover, you also don’t end up sick. Otherwise, I’ll have to call off all my duties to take care of you.”

hello hello!!
congrats on 100 followers, many more to come hehe
i wanted to req 15. “look at the moon.” with kazuha !!
(see in my mind this prompt reminds me of "the moon is lovely isnt it" thing and im a hopeless romantic for kazuha)
✎ the moon.
ft. kaedehara kazuha x gn!reader
prompt: "look at the moon."
w.c. 619 words
content: fluff, confessions, flustered reader, childhood friends to lovers
notes: hehe thank u aly !! here's some more sickeningly sweet kazu content !!
the night sky has long held importance to the two of you. together you have been under many stars, many moons glowing on your skins and reflecting in your eyes. kazuha would rather stare upon the moon through the mirrors of your eyes, wide and fascinated as if you have never seen the moon before. it's a kind of solace he will never attain anywhere else, with no one else other than you. even as kids, you was his muse - calm like the ocean he desperately craved for and filled with a love never-ending for him. to him, he considers you'd never find this love romantic.
the moon tonight is no different to every other moon the pair of you have gawked at in awe. it's full and bright, reflecting in the sea before you. your feet are buried in the sand, fingers tracing shapes and letters in the sand as you ponder how many constellations you can spot above you. kazuha has spotted most of them before you even remember their names but he doesn't say anything, after all he is the one who took the time of day to teach you the constellations in the first place. he taught you the importance of every star in the sky, insinuating the importance of every soul in teyvat at the same time. you admired his wisdom and his knowledge of the stars but he humbly shrugged you off, putting it down to needing the stars to navigate the sea.
although the moon may be no different other than its phase, kazuha wants to make this night different. he's been pondering it for weeks, months now - his attachment to you. you've been inseparable and joined at the hip for as long as the two of you can remember, your mother says it's been this way ever since you were babbling your words. you had a specific children's poetry book as a kid seeing as your father is a poet and kazuha had taken instant interest in it one day.
kazuha has three days before he's back onboard the alcor, his second home. he grimaces at the thought; you will always be his first home.
"look at the moon." you sigh dreamily, eyes half lidded as you gaze up at where the stormy clouds have drifted by, revealing the moon once more as it comes out of hiding. kazuha smiles, glancing from the moon to you. he'd much rather look at you.
"the moon is beautiful, isn't it?" the words fall from his lips in the softest of tones as if he wasn't sure if he wanted you to hear it. yet your eyes widen, darting around and looking anywhere but kazuha or the moon - odd, they're your favourite things in teyvat. there's an unreasonable amount of heat in your cheeks, your mouth becoming dry as you splutter and stumble on words and wonder how to respond. did he think this through? you question but there'll be no response. maybe in a few months.
"yeah, it is." you reply quietly, almost drowned out by the waves but kazuha catches it on the wind, his smile widening as he leans back on his hands, staring up at the moon. in a spark of new found confidence, he finds his hand wandering to find yours, cold meeting warm as you lace your fingers with his bandaged ones.
your smile is forever familiar and warm to him, your presence a safe place that he refuses to leave for as long as he can take a breath of air. kazuha would do anything for you, be it crossing oceans or climbing mountains and he's going to be sure you know that, "you're more beautiful though."

For Your Safety - TAU Fic (pt 1)
Hello! This is a quick deviation from my normal utmv posting but uhhh Gravity Falls transcendence AU my beloved. This fic specifically focuses on the Drift AU, (Mabel can't see Dipper).
main blog for info about the AU is here: @transcendence-au
AO3 Link
Read below the cut: I hope you enjoy!
“…story tonight covers a breaking tragedy at the Michigan State Department of Demonology and the Supernatural regarding famed demon most commonly addressed as Alcor the Dreambender. As of now 167 have been identified as dead, however some of the bodies are mangled too far to be recognized and identified as individuals. The estimated death count sits at around 340. No survivors have been discovered currently. Developments are currently being made so stay tuned for…”
“Grunkle Ford, can you turn that off please?”
Stanford Pines exhaled heavily in response, slinking further in his chair. “I’m sorry, but this is extremely important to me. I’ve studied these creatures all my life, and yet now…”
The woman on the TV kept talking.
“…in an attempt to bind the creature with a variety of binding circles and other holy paraphernalia. Experts from across the country had been brought in, in an attempt to cage the demon for good. The project was initially classified and was worked on for months before eventually summoning the creature, but evidently it was not enough to keep it contained. All of the details have not yet come in about what exactly happened during the incident, but the resulting scene was gruesome. The demon Alcor has gained a reputation for being impossible to contain or bind, with very few limits regarding ability and power. It has been labeled as a double S class demon, the highest ranking in regards to magical capability, although many experts claim it meets the qualifications of a god. Some argue it could even be beyond that. Any attempts at summoning or researching this demon is highly advised against, as all movements and actions are unknown and severely dangerous, and there is nothing you can do to guarantee yourself protection from it. Stay away from-“
“It just shouldn’t be possible,” he muttered to himself. “Demons shouldn’t be able to do things like that - their link with the physical world and blessed objects are usually massive obstacles and limiters on ability and-“
“Grunkle Ford.”
“…Alright.” Ford shut off the television, the woman’s voice dying as the picture compressed itself into a thin line, eventually swallowed by the blackness of the empty screen.
“I’m sorry Mabel, I know you don’t like that stuff being put on the TV.”
“I don’t,” Mabel replied. “There’s a new tragedy every day, you can tune in tomorrow when I’m gone. But not today, Grunkle.”
“I know. Have you decided on the flowers yet?”
“No. I was trying to research flower symbolism last night but I gave up halfway through. I might just go with something blue.”
Mabel rubbed at both of her eyes and took her half-eaten bowl of cereal to the sink, washing it out as she spoke. “I have a movie date with all the girls tonight and I’m going to spend the night at Pacifica’s place, it’s not too far of a drive. Will Grunkle Stan and all the others meet us at the cemetery at noon?”
“Nothing would stop Stanley from being there, you know that. Did you make arrangements with your parents? Are they going to make the drive up here?”
The wiping motions came to a slow. Mabel gently set the bowl down. “I don’t think they’re coming this year.”
Ford leaned forward to stare at her.
“I think they’re still sore from last year, and the argument with Grunkle Stan. Mom called me this morning. They might come later on their own time.”
There was a grandfather clock in the adjacent room, ticking loudly. Taking up the silence.
“I see,” said Ford. He settled back into his recliner, trying to ignore the rise of unidentifiable emotions in his chest. Either that or an oncoming heart attack. At this age he couldn’t tell.
Mabel stood hunched over the kitchen sink, her hands gripping tight against the countertop. Long strands of hair fell in front of her face as she inhaled raggedly. Ford said nothing.
Ford stared blankly at his reflection on the television screen, observing his surroundings mirrored back at him, yet difficult to distinguish through the black. His copy stared back at him, eyes wide and searching for something to pretend to look at.
Eventually Mabel straightened herself out, brushing a sleeve against her eyes before turning around. She met her great uncle’s gaze.
“Happy birthday, Mabel,” is all he can say to her.
She smiles, but it doesn’t reach her eyes. “The number that I’m supposed to be celebrating right now is twenty years, but the only one I can bother to count is eight.”
“Eight years since…?”
“…I’m going to go upstairs,” she muttered. “We’ll all say happy birthday to Dipper when we see him.”
Ford nodded. She didn’t see it.
----------~*~*~----------
Everyone showed up to the cemetery. They always did.
Except her parents. This year, at least. They had gotten into a massive blowout last year with Stanley, blaming him for the incident and for the death of their son. It got ugly pretty fast.
Wendy, Soos, Melody, Stan and Ford, Robbie, and many others who were close with the family had been present. Mabel was hugged tightly by every single one of them, and she could feel Wendy’s tears soak through her sweater. It was a private affair; They didn’t want it made to be a spectacle for the public. They had all changed since that summer, some more dramatically than others. Soos still ran the shack alongside Melody and Stan, but it was slowly being converted into an informational center (Because who would care to see a taxidermied monkey sown to a fish when droves of real mermaids would show up at the beach?) while Wendy had taken up demon hunting. Gone were her long locks of fiery red hair, chopped off for ease and convenience in combat. Despite only having been serious about it for around five years, she had already racked up an impressive kill count, along with a name in supernatural defense. It didn’t take a genius to figure out her inspiration for going into that field.
The gravestone they crowded around was wreathed in flowers, with a beautiful bouquet of baby blue roses in the center, set by Mabel. Bushels of half-wilted blossoms and cards had been there long before Mabel and the others had arrived, however. The entire town had gone to visit the gravestone just a few days earlier. To honor the hero that had killed Bill Cipher, and in the process changed the entire world.
But Mabel didn’t like celebrating the day of her brother’s death.
Not when his birthday had been so close.
To put emphasis on his death would kill the part of him that lived within them. He deserved to be wished a happy birthday, to have existed for twenty years. Because he may have died when he was 12, but he lived on in their memories.
He would forever. ----------~*~*~----------
The visit had been nice. Everyone had gone around, recounting their adventures to the tombstone, and telling it how badly they missed him. It was a bittersweet day - people cried while they laughed. But eventually, after an hour, it was time to leave. Those not a close part of the Pines family wished them well and departed, knowing most of them would see Mabel later that night, but the rest of the Pines (plus Wendy) stayed together, electing to get Mabel a birthday lunch at Greasy’s Diner - as per tradition.
The diner was sleepy, but Lazy Susan was overjoyed to see Wendy back in town again. She ushered all four of them over to a booth, wishing Mabel a happy birthday and letting them have all of their food on the house. Both Stans got a stack of pancakes that went up to their necks. Mabel wasn’t very hungry, and instead tried to strike up some conversation.
“How have you been these days, Wendy?”
The redhead shrugged, stuffing a sausage in her mouth. “Eh, things have been slow. Most of the stuff I’ve been called in for is for out-of-control sprites or other annoying pests. There was a case with a rogue angel a few weeks ago which was cool - I had to use completely different equipment and tactics but I enjoyed the challenge.”
“Did you win?” Asked Ford.
Wendy snorted “‘Course I did, dude. That thing was glitter by the time I was done. Opened up a lot of sick job opportunities.”
“Incredible…” Ford put his chin in his palm, and Stanley rolled his eyes, ready for his brother to launch into a tangent. “The dichotomy between angels and demons as they are in the real world is obviously different from the way they’ve been portrayed in a decent amount of religions when it comes to multiple factors, yet what does remain consistent is their alignment with good and evil. From what I’ve observed angels are set on order and will take any measures to achieve it which results in the occasional incidents we hear of, however demons are naturally aligned with chaos and maleficence, and thrive upon sowing chaos.”
“I think you mostly got it right,” Wendy said, waving her fork in Ford’s direction through a mouthful of eggs. “But there’s also the fact that angels are rarely summoned and don’t bother much with mortals. When they do is when we get problems. Demons, on the other hand-“
“Demons bite at the bit to interact with humans. It’s their source of power.” Ford finished.
“Exactly.”
Stan scratched at his stubble and rolled his eyes. There was definitely syrup on his shirt. “Eugh. You two should get a room or somethin’. Better yet, talk about your demon baloney someplace else. I don’t think Mabel wants to hear about any of this right now.”
With a mention of her name, Mabel finally tuned into the conversation, blinking in surprise. She put down the fork she had just been mindlessly passing over her fingers. Had she been this sweaty when she first sat down? “Uh, no it’s fine, don’t worry about it. I asked about Wendy. Wendy hunts demons for a living. That’s kind of - her thing!” She gave her Grunkle a big smile, but it didn’t seem to convince him.
“I know sweetie but today-”
“Today is mine and Dipper’s birthday. What killed him is long dead, so I don’t care if you want to talk about demons.”
Ford shared a glance with his brother. “This morning, you told me-”
“That was about a mass tragedy , Grunkle Ford! That wasn’t just some report on an imp getting loose from a binding and eating a cat like usual, this was over 300 people dead trying to bind a demon that has transcended all known limitations.” She could feel herself starting to get worked up. A small part of her mind warned her about raising her volume too high but she paid it almost no mind as she rambled over all of her own thoughts. “It wasn’t just any demon it was the demon with the most connections to the transcendence and its origin, it's the demon who’s been making nonstop headlines globally, talking about its latest massacre. It-”
She stopped midway through speaking, the words dying in her throat as she looked at Wendy’s crestfallen expression.
“Alcor,” she said. Mabel nodded.
Wendy looked pained. “You saw the news this morning then?”
“...Grunkle Ford was watching it on the TV this morning.”
“I figured. My phone’s been blowing up about it nonstop since this morning. After I finish visiting here I’m probably going to make arrangements to try and head to the wreckage and take a look at what I can. Whatever I can learn about Alcor the better for when I finally confront him with the intent to kill.”
“You can’t possibly be thinking of going after the Dreambender. That’s just… that’s suicide, Wendy!” Ford’s glasses began to slip off his nose. “He cannot be bound, he cannot be wounded, there has been observably no limitations to his power - Wendy I’ve been looking into him as much as you have since the transcendence occurred and the supernatural went widespread, and I know you know there’s something off about this one. He’s not just powerful, he may be at a level that even Cipher wasn’t.”
“You think I don’t know all of this already, old man? I’ve seen him personally, I’ve stared him in the eyes. His touch burns and freezes your skin all at once. He’s stolen kills from me, I’ve watched him grin at me with a mouth of fangs and bits of a heart of the demon I was commissioned to kill stuck between his teeth. He laughed at me, told me that an “ice bag” such as myself ought to stay away from the heat. Do you know what color the fire that comes from his hand is, Ford?”
Ford clearly knew the answer. He said nothing, staring at her with wide eyes. Stan and Mabel were both dead silent. Mabel felt a horrid wave of nausea wash over her . “He called you…?!?”
“You were right when you said the Dreambender has connections to the transcendence, Mabel. I hate to say it, but I don’t think Bill Cipher is dead.”

“Come on buddy, don’t ya wanna make a lil deal with lil ol’ me?”
I’ve been on a bit of an equivalence high recently as anyone following me may have guessed haha ^-^
For anyone who’s interested I’ve written some of my thoughts on demon!Mabel below the cut :3
First things first let's talk about her style and general appearance, cause I feel like I’ve deviated a fair bit from the previously established fancy suit she’d been portrayed as having like Dipper.
My logic for the change (outside of wanting to try drawing something that isn’t a suit haha) is that I feel she would have more varietyin the outfits she wears compared to Dipper. Looking at the show Dipper was out there wearing the exact same outfit for an entire summer while Mabel (admittedly wearing the same type of clothes) had significantly more variety, wearing a different sweater every episode, some episodes even having more than one, and I feel this would continue to reflect here.
Dipper has his suit and doesn't venture much further then that if he can help it (obviously not to say he doesn't but you know what I mean). Mabel mean while would have a new outfit every day, multiple per day sometimes!
Most of the time I think she would default to a more punk, diy aesthetic because of the inherent creativity of it (which for a typically detail averse artist such as myself was certainly a decision haha), not to mention I can imagine Mabel being like “I’m a literal demon Dipper I gotta go for the outfits with the spikes and chains!”
At the same time she would definitely enjoy trying out a whole host of different styles (to a point though. Some just aren't comfortable, not any more at least, a part of her stolen away with the Transcendence).
I'd need to do some research into clothing styles to say specifically what else she would enjoy, but I can say it's a lot of black with small splashes and highlights of colour. She's also, regardless of style wear lots and lots of jewellery and piercings cause I think she’d like them :3
Switching things up a bit I wanna quickly go over her pins (ie, her queer identities). My hc for demon!Mabel is the same for normal Mabel, being bisexual with a masc preference, and a demigirl (she/her/they/them exploring and trying out various neo pronouns as she encounters them, rotating through them depending on her mood).
Slightly serious tangent, but I know the previously established lore for EAU was that she would be aroace, but in all honesty that never quite sat right with me. Like the only reason she, or subsequently Dipper in the main TAU canon, are aspec is because of the demon-ness, and while I love demons and the demonic as much as the next aroace person, and I adore representation of my identity, the implications aren’t my favourite in the world. Obviously no disrespect to the people behind that decision, (in fact I applaud them on exploring how a character like Mabel might react to people assuming she wants that in this lil fic here :3). Only the maddest of respect to the people who make characters the identities they want them to be :) I just wanted to address it for anyone who like me has read every bit of eau content they can get their grubby lil hands on and noticed that particular difference :p
Besides, this way we get to explore the logistical and moral implications of a character being allosexual while also being an incredibly powerful and immortal being, especially when you get into questions of how she ages herself compared regular humans :3c (I think I'll leave that for another post though haha)
On a different note, another design idea I had was that it'd be really cool if she had a dynamic and moving tattoo that would constantly change and show new (typically pig and star related) designs :) this definitely wasn't inspired by my own inability to come up with and stick to a particular singer design, definitely not.
I also thought it would be neat to differentiate the demonic aspects of her and Alcor's design by giving her feathered wings, rather than the typical bat wings. I mostly just thought it could be nice to try drawing something different, and while Dipper and Mabel are very close and have a fair amount in common they are still very different characters, so it would make sense for their demonic features to differ, even is only slightly. On that note I also gave her a pink outline to her pupils as inspired by this art cause I thought it was neat :3
Anyway I accidentally posted this before I was finished so Imma just take that as a sign to stop and put my other thoughts in a different post haha 😅
#art#my art#equivalence au#ghost chatters#tau#demon!mabel#mizar#I had perhaps too much fun with this pose and colouring haha#if you saw this in the seconds before I realised I has posted this before I was finished#no you didn't

Backstory for my character for a modern Death House game of D&D where my character has Alcor the Dreambender as their warlock patron.
Morgan Helsmoortal grew up playing baseball with their military father and learning guitar from their conservative mother.
They always liked the occult growing up, especially different runes and spell circles. Their parents did not approve, so they hid this from them. This was not the only thing they were hiding from them.
The day they graduated high school they packed grab bags filled with some fruit jerky, nuts, water, clothes, their phone with a new SIM card, their guitar and their laptop. They set the bags with their bike and helmet at the end of the driveway d then told their parents that they were non-binary. In his fury as they were walking away, their father threw the baseball bat he had bought them for their birthday at them.
They kept the bat.
They train hopped for a little while, going from city to city, busking until they landed in the outskirts of a cozy little town.
They found an abandoned shack in the woods, sturdy, sealed enough from the elements that they won’t die and there’s a fire place that has a stove top.
They rode their bike into town, and picked up odd jobs to be able to afford a PO Box and a phone bill. They are super tall and pale and dress mostly in black, so some local kids have taken to calling them “Slendy” after Slenderman. They started working part-time at a coffee shop by the local community college who recently got a boost from the local theater. They get a deal through work to take a class in sound design and then decide to make a podcast about the occult.
They make it like they’re a tavern keep after-hours telling the stories of adventurers who came through their tavern as they stoke the main fire in the tavern hall.
While doing research on an entity of knowledge specifically on the occult they dropped some of their research notes and a bag of gummy worms onto a summoning circle they had drawn on the floor.
In a burst of bright blue light, Alcott the Dreambender emerges. He takes one look at the shocked face of Morgan, then at their surroundings (the dingy shack, thin camping cot tucked in a corner as Morgan sat their entire 6’10” frame on a five gallon bucket with a pillow on it, empty energy drink cans scattered about) and decides, nope.
“NOPE no way in hell is someone strong enough to pull me from my home dimension going to live like THIS. Give me three days. You can keep the notes, but I’m taking these gummy worms.” And then disappears.
On the third day, when they get back to the shack after a shift at the coffee shop, Morgan comes back to the place with two cords of wood outside, electricity, and running water in the formerly decrepit bathroom. There’s two comfy-looking chairs and a TV with what looks like a Boku box hooked up to it and a couple board games on the shelves under it. A book shelf with all the books and journals Alcor found scattered around the shack. Two small tv tray tables and what looks like a salvaged countertop in the corner with a microwave, some coffee mugs, a box of tea and Morgan’s mess kit on it. Behind a thick curtain that held the side of the room with the fire place, the piece de resistance, a bed with an actual frame that fits their full height with a super comfy looking new blanket and two new pillows on it.
Morgan stepped inside and was startled by Alcor appearing right behind them.
“So, what do you think? It’s the best I could do with the time I had. Honestly with a little more push I could probably get you ownership of the land too. My mojo seems to work a bit different here, but I still have a few tricks up my sleeve. By the way, what was your name again?”
Morgan stared at him, eye level with them because he was *floating*. “Hello, my name is Morgan Helsmoortal, they/them. I never found your name or title in anything I had translated yet, how should I address you?” They spoke formally, so as not to give the unknown and powerful entity and grip upon them.
Alcor smiled a fanged smile. “Oh I like you, know the rules of magic do ya Slendy? Well you may call me Alcor, my title is Dreambender and I believe my classification is that of a deity of knowledge, specifically on arcane magics. I usually stay in my home dimension, so most of the magic here I am unfamiliar with.” He took a moment before straightening himself out and settling on the floor. “I would like to make a deal.”
Morgan crossed their arms and leaned most of their weight on their back foot. “I’m listening.”
“I would like to read through all of your currently accumulated research and have journals provided for me to make notes myself and also for you to find me rare grimoires, tomes and scrolls for me to research and read, and as long as you do that, I will give you the ability to do magic.” He paused for a breath. “I would also like to hang out with you and maybe research with you. In return for that, I will tell you some of my story.” He said in a softer voice.
Morgan took a moment to look at the entity before them and then immediately stuck their hand out to shake. “I agree to both deals. It would be nice to have a friend for a change.” Alcor smiled an understanding smile and then stuck his flaming blue hand out.
“This is the start of a beautiful friendship.”
Alcor forgets time at one point and doesn’t check in for six months and somehow in that time, Morgan has found themselves in Barovia picking up on a lead about some occult artifacts.
I did rewrite some of the original backstory, but I feel that it fits better this way. I also have Alcor as a Seeker patron from UA material because I felt it fit better from what I’ve read of him and how he was as Dipper as well. In the original I had it so Alcor had personal beef with Strahd and so when he found out in game that Morgan was in Barovia he flips his shit and then asks them to collect a book he left there the last time they played chess together.

Theory about @somerandomdudelmao new comic #Marbelsky.
So in one of the asks answers, I remember that Cass mentionned humans as being seen as the "goblins" of space.
That means that almost every specie that travel in space a lot must know about them.
But we know that humans don't know about alien life yet, as in the first chapter when Ward and Oscar get captured by the Mamors, Oscar told Ward that he saw a giant space-ship, to which Ward replied that he should just take his meds.
Now of course their own space-ship must have been pretty far from earth, as they were clearly not in our solar system, and from what doodles and flashback of Oscar and Ward back on earth, things didn't seem so futuristic.
Knowing that currently being capable of sending people to Mars, one of the nearest planets to Earth, is still impossible, I'm gonna assume that they're not from our time, but not too much into the future either, let's estimate something between 40 to 50 years, since we've seen how fast technology had evolved, or it's just a different universe.
Now, when Ecliptica asked Sculptor about whether or not Ward and Oscar were the "tasty" one he confirmed it, which probably mean that they're kind already came across humans before.
Since it was revealed that Oscar was basically not at all qualified for space and that Ward was supposed to go alone, I'm gonna assume that in this universe humans have a much more advanced space travel, perhaps even reaching other solar systems, so while they were far from Earth, they were still close compared to how far humans were capable of reaching.
Which means that humans who ended up getting lost in space must be more common, which led to their capture and their eventual death or enslavement by other species such as Mamors.
Like I said, humans aren't aware of aliens, since I don't think that aliens who strand far from their original planet are simply looking for a vacation, they're most likely searching for new land to conquer like the Mamors, so they most likely killed the humans they came across.
That must be why they are known as space's "goblins", their technology is probably primitive compared to what we've seen, or because they always find them in small number, just wandering with no goal other than discovery, since we've seen that an entire tribe was basically living in the ship of the Mamors, with children such as Alcor, and princesses or 'Moons' such as Ecliptica, a ssimple crew of 15 persons must look ridiculously small in comparaison.
But at the same time, Ein (I think that's her name) the guardian of the cell compared humans' and Mamors way to calculate how intelligent a specie is, which mean that they must know about how human civilization works.
So perhaps one of the humans they captured told them that, or that they've just been observing Earth.
Now, Earth have not been taken over yet, but why? It has been explained that the Mamors make this thing called the "Marbel Sky" to basically give them a boost in everything, because of Earth's special atmosphere, it must be impossible, but Mamors are already far stronger than humans, they could just launch an invasion and probably win.
Which leads to one thing, I don't remember seeing a 'Sun' on the planet we've seen, and while Mamors don't have eyes, I'm gonna assume that the light must hurt them in some way, especially the unfiltered U.V lights that they would be exposed to before being able to enter Earth's atmosphere.
Despite everything that we've seen, I believe that Earth must be a very special planet compared to other, in which the conditions are wrong in every right way to make it impossible for the Mamors or other aliens to survive there, with the 4 seasons, climate, and all.
There's also a dumber thing : Nuclear Bombs, only humans hate eatch other so much that they'd make a weapon that would only kill any being in a wide radius, but also make that specific radius impossible for any form of life to take place in it for decades or even centuries to come.
Knowing humans, they'd probably not waste a single second before launching nuclear bombs if they spot the Mamors ship, and even if the ship resists, the Mamors wouldn't be able to resist the mere explosion and radioactivity of the bomb if it was to fall on them, so they kept away.
Or, perhaps humans just...amuse them?? Like, they find it curious how a kind could be at such war and hatred towards itself so they just watch?? After all who wants to get involved in such drama.

@orchideae sent: "Fontainians sure are something else. Do you know what they celebrate today?" The heels of her boots tapped against the wooden boards of the Alcor perhaps a little too loudly when she finally boarded, the grin kept tightly lodged behind closed lips that instead, lingered in a smile of both judgement or growing gaiety. But only slightly so. Claiming her spot aside the ship's captain, the box she'd held in hand seemed almost too intentionally held on display, rested on the railing as it was, a temptation to any of curious nature. Heart-shaped, enveloped in a wrapping paper so vibrantly golden that even Ningguang would surely grow envious of it, and tied with about three different vibrantly colored ribbons of which one was even sparkling radiantly due to the sun hung overhead. "It's the day of love. They've been leading up to it for days now, the city's been impossible to navigate." The box was turned from one side to the other a time or two, as if a moment was taken to scrutinize its design. "But I think I managed well enough." A little nod in the distance showed a much smaller boat slowly approaching them, one pretty obviously at full capacity, drowning the two individuals on it amidst all the bags and boxes around them. "There's some in there for your crew, too, and— oh, before I forget, careful with the containers on top, I may have stopped by the Hotel Debord to pick up some local delicacies for a feast tonight." And just then, Yelan held out the box in offer, accompanied by a wink of relative sly nature, and a chuckle she could no longer contain. "Happy Valentine's day, captain Beidou." She would have a field day with this every year, from this day forward.
(As for the gifts? There's numerous boxes in there holding all kinds of delicacies for the crew, but most of it is for Beidou, of course. The same delicacies for her and then some, there's also numerous packages containing trinkets for in her hair that are typical of Fontaine even if the color scheme is lightly off, because sorry Beidou, Fontaine likes its blues! There's also a larger, but thinner box in which she will find a beautifully intricate Fontainian dress in her trademark red [Yelan may have insisted on the color], with a note on top that says: 'Do you think this will outdo hers? Don't keep her waiting', because if you don't think she doesn't tease Beidou about Ning ESPECIALLY after seeing Ning in that specific dress once? Yeah, okay. But the main present is hidden within a gorgeous mahogany box that has Beidou's initial carved into its top in relatively decorative calligraphy, and there's golden accents lining it throughout. Inside of the box is the gift: a beautifully adorned gun, lined even more intricately than the box itself with the same accent colors, and if you look at the handle, it has Beidou's initial engraved into it in a similar fashion, along with engravings of vicious waves along the gun's barrel, and if you really look at the details [Yelan is a woman of detail, come on]— you might even see a recognizable ship. And lastly, is the note, which is simpler than any of the gifts: 'Happy birthday, Beidou.')
“ The day of love? ” Beidou's brow arched as Yelan joined her on the Alcor's quarterdeck, a map of the sea connecting Romaritime Harbour with Yilong Wharf spread open on the table in front of her. She'd been learning all sorts of things about their northern neighbours over the past few months — and though she'd taken particular interest herself in the unique quality of the water in Fontaine, and the geography of the huge waterfall that lifted the nation above sea level, she'd learned plenty about the culture from the aforementioned friend and esteemed colleague beside her. She should be flattered, really, that the Fontainians had picked her own special day of the year to celebrate love in all its forms, though she hoped the trend wouldn't spread to Liyue and truly overshadow it. At least there, the day still belonged to her and her alone. The heart-shaped box placed in front of her quickly piqued Beidou's curiosity. “ And you've forsaken your so-called Duke to spend it with me? ” After that, there was no way that Beidou couldn't tease Yelan, just a little.
Though she quickly regretted her flippancy at the nod over Yelan's shoulder to the shallow waters over the railing, where a small dinghy approached the Alcor completely overloaded with crates and bags. Her eyes went wide, and before she knew it her boots had carried her over to the railing itself, watching as the poor sailors on it attempted to secure the craft to the hull of her ship so that they could begin unloading. Any hesitation one might have gauged in their captain's demeanour vanished as quickly as it appeared. “ Have it taken below, Juza, and see to it that anything personally addressed — ” she cast a pointed look in Yelan's direction, “ is taken to my cabin. ”
As always, Juza and the rest of the crew sprung into action, and Beidou's attention once again swung back to her friend. “ Seriously, Yelan, there was no need to go to all this trouble on my account. I don't even know what to say. Thank you. ” Sure, the Alcor never forgot their captain's birthday, but Beidou was always grateful no matter how small the gifts she received. Members of the Crux were paid fairly, but she never expected their income to go towards luxurious gifts for her. This was something new. She smiled, and slightly clasped Yelan's shoulder. “ This feast'll be one to remember. ”
Little did she know that this feast would be the perfect opportunity to test-run the dress that would soon find its way to her living quarters.
#orchideae#* / answered ( beidou. )#sae this is soooooooo cute#i actually can't#also yes yes - she's wearing the dress to this impromptu alcor feast#i figured yelan would approve ;)

Alcor NPC Headcanons
So while I've been writing and planning Lulling Waves and Empty Skies over the past year, I've also been compiling a lot of headcanons about the main NPCs I've been writing about.
There have been a lot of original characters that I've had to make throughout the storyline since it's set in Fontaine, but I still have been obsessed with the members of the Alcor and Crux Fleet specifically. So like I did a lot of deep diving into Juza and Little Yue because they're more important to the plot in Lulling Waves and Empty Skies than in Genshin itself.
Juza
So much time has been dedicated to thinking about him because he's just so cool :( there is no other reason for me to have so many thoughts about him tbh I just want to be him
Acne scars because I say so, I feel like he's a very weathered person in general. He definitely has scars from fights and ship accidents too, as well as some moles from the sun exposure
He's also very tan, I imagine him both with a darker complexion than in game in general as well as tanned from being on the ocean so much
Grew up with Beidou in Liyue Harbor (I don't care if Beidou's backstory says otherwise, this is canon in my brain because I wrote it down long before that was released)
Can wield most weapons to a certain extent, but he seems like he'd fight most with either his fists or a claymore (that or similar to the treasure hoarder who fights with a hammer!) this goes along with him growing up with Beidou
This one makes no sense whatsoever, but he's definitely unable to flirt with anyone, he absolutely just clams up and can't speak to anyone
Adding on to the previous, he's the best wingman of all time by the grace of the archons, the whole "coaches don't play" thing is his motto
Basically Little Yue's second parent (first is Beidou), but is still called uncle instead of parent, he would do anything for his little man I swear on my life
Little Yue
A lot of headcanons about him are absolutely just about him growing up tbh, so a lot of it is just ideas of him when he's grown up, but there's a lot of stuff that I kinda have for possible future works too.
Like the most important one is I personally believe he has a pyro vision as an adult, he's a very passionate person which is what reminds me of a lot of pyro characters
Takes over the Crux Fleet after Beidou retires! I know this is pretty much his canonical continuation of his life from his pieces of story, but I don't care he's the next leader of The Crux
He definitely eventually persuades Changchang to also join the fleet after a short amount of time, I also have a crazy idea for a continuation of Lulling Waves and Empty Skies based on this idea that I probably won't have the energy to write
Okay I pinkie promise I'm done with adult headcanons omg I didn't realize I had that many for his adulthood
One of the nosiest kids you will ever meet, he's the kind of kid who constantly plays the why game
He also basically refuses to listen ever! He's constantly sneaking onto the ship, probably a criminal in the making if not for Beidou teaching him morals
Yue is also incredibly street smart, I don't think we think a lot about how those who aren't rich enough to have personal tutors are able to learn, he's probably not the best educated when it comes to classical things, but he's a genius on his feet
Along with that, Ningguang probably ends up getting him some sort of tutor but he's a menace (Yue not the tutor) he doesn't seem like he'd be a fan of standard learning anyway
The Alcor as a whole
I don't have that many headcanons for the Alcor, but I can say that all of them are the epitome of it takes a village, especially when it comes to Yue
I tend to focus the most on Beidou and Juza (I may or may not be biased toward them a little) but every single person in the Crux Fleet, especially The Alcor, is imperative to shaping Yue's personality, goals, and life
I love them all so much

wanna join the (new!) tag list?
✧ — 🍁 — ✧
something’s... off about you.
it's no secret that nature often lends kazuha a hand when observing other people. he can hear the faintest things and pick up on the most minute details with ease -- especially when it comes to you.
for example: shortly after you two first met, after only three rounds during your first sparring match, he knew that you'd injured your wrist a few years back and gave you specific pointers on how to relieve the pain. now, even after going an entire day without seeing you, he somehow knows how you're feeling with no more than a simple glance and knows how to treat you accordingly. kazuha adjusts to things very easily, but he quickly became attuned to you without thinking; the breeze that follows close behind you is one he's familiar with, one he's grown to love deeply.
but for the past couple of days, however, something's been polluting the air you usually carry about with you. it feels like... tension, to say the least.
kazuha isn't too sure if you've realized this yet, but your smiles are thinner and looking a little forced. you're holding him closer at night (he didn't even think it possible, yet here you were) and your shoulders look tight from what he can see. you've also started working your jaw whenever you're quiet. it's not as obvious as he's making it seem, but as someone who trained himself to know all that makes you you, he can spot any oddities from a mile away.
you, on the other hand, are busy wondering why kazuha is so fucking dense.
you didn't think it possible what with how scarily observant he can be at times, but as he chats with some girl aboard the alcor (jiang -- you found out her name against your will), you wonder how he can't see what's right in front of his face.
right now, jiang is giving kazuha the "eyes" -- you would know, because you do it to him as a joke. she's got her head tilted to the side like some curious puppy, and she practically melts every time he smiles. (which is all the time, by the way. this is making you sick.)
you're also standing right next to him as he speaks. you'd think jiang would be more subtle about this.
kazuha turns his head to the side suddenly. he must've heard someone calling his name. "i'll be taking my leave," he tells the two of you. he looks at you and you feel your breath catch. for a second, you damn near forgot why you were so upset. "i'm sorry to leave you alone. beidou seems to need me."
well, fuck.
"it's no problem." you half-lie, mirroring his smile. "go before she gets impatient."
ever the charmer, kazuha takes your hand and brings your fingers to his lips before departing, leaving you with your heart reluctantly racing in your chest. god damn him.
a very uncomfortable silence descends upon you and jiang. you can feel her eyes boring into the side of her head. don't speak to me, you think. don't say a fucking word, don't speak, just stay quiet--
"you're so lucky." jiang sounds so dejected that it makes you look at her. you have to school your expression into an even one -- god forbid you show her just how much you loathe being near her. "he's such a good guy."
at least she knows he's taken. you feel your chest swell with a little bit of pride. "he really is." you have to swallow back the urge to brag.
jiang sighs wistfully. "must be nice..."
it is, you almost say. you bite your tongue. maybe it's best if you leave her to her own devices for now; you should be the bigger person. you say a quick goodbye and head off to find some work to do. the further you are from her, the better.
unfortunately, the universe has other plans.
a question: why is it that when you're trying to avoid someone, you keep seeing them everywhere? because you see jiang everywhere. not only that, you're often tasked with being near her.
like now; you're mapping out some stuff before you send it over to zhiqiong for finalization, and who else but jiang would come by to keep you company? she's helpful, surprisingly, but somehow, kazuha keeps coming up in conversation.
"where did we last see those remnants of osial's wife?" you ask her softly, your eyes fixed on the sheet. you point to a place near the compass in the corner. "was it here?"
jiang hums and points to an area closer to land. "more like here," she says, "i remember someone saying to stay on high alert because of how dangerously close it was to that fishing village."
"right, thanks. now, where did that cargo wash up? near ritou--?"
"kazuha likes fish, doesn't he?" jiang asks. her question takes you off-guard. it must show, because she apologizes, her face flushing. "i'm sorry, that was really off-topic. it's just-- i noticed that he gets a little excited whenever the chefs grill fish, so..."
you keep your expression as even as you possibly can and try to give her the benefit of the doubt. kazuha isn't very subtle with information like that. everyone knows that he likes grilled fish -- it was one of the first and only things people knew about him for a while. "yeah, he's, uh," you shift your eyes back to the map, "very particular about it. it's a hassle sometimes, but if he's happy, he's happy."
jiang nods -- maybe a little too eagerly for your liking. "i see, i see."
"right. so, ritou. did beidou say we lost stuff near the docks?"
"yeah, apparently some tenryou commission defectors or something took some stuff that was supposed to go on the ship and tossed it into the sea."
"dammit," you swear, "there was some valuable wood in those boxes. the tianquan wanted high quality maple wood for some construction just outside the harbor."
"there were reported sightings of some floating boxes..." jiang is quiet as she marks up places where shipment boxes had been spotted. as she does, she asks: "kazuha... wears a lot of maple leaves, doesn't he?"
you say a silent prayer. whether it's for you or her, you're not sure. "he does." your response is clipped.
"did he ever tell you why?"
you have never wanted to not talk about kazuha before. this is new. you don't like it. "something about his family. i don't know all the details." you're lying. annoyed, you add, "and even if i did, it wouldn't be my place to share them."
"oh." jiang murmurs. "i thought he would've told you. i guess i'll ask him sometime later."
"...right. you do that." you take a silent breath. you try to start working again, but--
"would he be in the crow's nest?" jiang doesn't look at you, but you can see her ears flushing and her lips curling into the most smitten smile. "just so i, uh, know where to find him and ask."
you're not sure what possesses you, but you give her the answer she's looking for. you're being the bigger person, you remind yourself. that's all. you're just doing as any good person would do. thankfully, you work the rest of the time in silence.
sure enough though, later that day, kazuha and jiang are nowhere to be found. xu liushi said something about them being in the crow's nest together talking about their hometowns. you don't like the pit that opens up in your stomach.
now, don't misunderstand; you don't feel threatened by jiang. not at all. you're not worried about her taking kazuha from right under your nose. no, no, that's not the problem at all.
the problem is that she keeps using you as kazuha information bank of sorts. all you two end up talking about is him, and when you don't give her a straightforward answer, she just goes and asks him directly. and kazuha, being the absolute sweetheart that he is, just goes with the flow, blissfully unaware of the lovesick fool jiang is making herself out to be.
the worst part about all this is that she knows that kazuha is your lover, yet she acts this way anyways. right in front of you -- both of you! does she think you're stupid? it's infuriating!
kazuha catches you mulling over it one night before bed. he's already laying down, ready to sleep, but you're still sitting up, rubbing at your temples. you've been nursing a headache for about a week.
"is everything okay, dove?" he asks sleepily. you twist to look down at him and see his eyes already half-lidded. "are you not going to sleep?"
you comb your fingers through his hair, which has been freed from its usual ponytail. "i'll sleep soon, love." you murmur, chuckling when he yawns. "you've had a long day, no?"
kazuha hums his assent. "you didn't answer the question. is everything okay?" he looks a little more awake now, the beginnings of a frown forming on his face.
this is why you've been sitting back and taking jiang's shit these days. because at the end of the day, you have kazuha beside you. you lay down and laugh a little when he immediately wraps his arms around you. kazuha buries his face in your shoulder and you keep running your fingers through his hair.
"i'm fine, kazuha. promise." you tell him.
kazuha leaves a butterfly kiss on your skin. "are you absolutely sure?"
how could you not be? you kiss the crown of his head as his breathing slows. "absolutely."
you want to say that all your troubles were over after that, but things come to a head by the next morning. the alcor docks in liyue harbor during a routine visit for the sailors to spend time with their families. comfortable as you may have been last night, you can't seem to stay asleep. you struggle out of kazuha's arms (he's got a firm grip, even in his sleep) and get ready for the day, stepping out the cabin to breathe in the fresh air.
before the people wake, liyue harbor is one of the most peaceful places on the planet. it's nothing but you and the gentle slapping of the waves against the sides of the alcor. you take a deep breath, refreshed, and head off the ship for a walk. when you return with some trinkets from an early rising vendor -- some matching tassles for kazuha's sword and your polearm -- who else would you run into but jiang.
you would have walked past her, but she was standing just a little too close to your cabin, turning something over in her fingers. "uh..." you narrow your eyes at her, suspicion hardening your tone. "do you need something?"
"oh, good morning!" jiang spots you then and she lights up, her face red. it's too early for this. "hi, i'm sorry, i just... well... i wanted to give kazuha something."
you don't bother fixing your expression anymore. "it's too early for that. he's probably still asleep."
jiang deflated. "o-oh... then can you give it to him for me? please?" she holds it out to you. it's a little furin that looks handmade. she must've really put some thought into this. "i figured since he was so far from home while the rest of us were here... i-i thought maybe he'd want something to dull the homesickness..."
under any other circumstances, this would be cute. endearing, even. but this is your last fucking straw. you breathe harshly through your nose, your irritation showing through. "jiang, do me a favor and back up, first of all." you shoo her away from your door. she inches back, but you keep gesturing. "back. up." you seethe.
"is something wrong?" she asks.
"for the love of-- you're in front of my cabin at ass o'clock in the morning trying to give my boyfriend a gift." you put special emphasis on 'my boyfriend'. your voice is low and your anger is palpable. you inhale sharply and give her the fakest smile you've ever given anyone in your life. "hold onto the gift and maybe try giving it to him later."
jiang has the audacity to look shocked. "oh! i-i didn't realize, i--"
"of course you didn't." you scoff. "please leave. now. don't wait out here." you don't even wait for her to respond; you walk inside your cabin and slam the door shut with a groan. only after you shut it do you realize that you may have woken kazuha but thankfully, he's already up.
he's just about ready for the day -- fully dressed, save for his scarf. his eyes were already fixed on the door. you feel your face burn; he definitely heard all of that. "good morning," you mutter. you place the tassels you bought on the dresser.
"did jiang do something wrong?" he asks. straight to the point, no cutting corners -- that's just like him. "you seem so upset."
"she was standing in front of the fucking door waiting for you to wake up." you pinch your nose bridge. you don't think you can handle anymore stupidity today and the day has barely begun. "you tell me if she was doing something wrong."
kazuha frowns. "why would she do something like that?"
he seems genuinely confused, but you can't take it. you snap. "are you serious? you haven't noticed the way she's been looking at you?"
"what?"
"kazuha," you laugh bitterly, "there's no fucking way that someone as observant as you couldn't pick up on her obvious crush on you." when he raises his eyebrows, taken aback, you sigh harshly and sit on the bed. "so you're telling me you had no idea."
"is that why you've been acting so strange these days?" kazuha sits beside you and rests his hands over yours. your hands twitch to move away, but he holds them in his own, keeping you in place. "you've been wound so tight lately, but i couldn't put my finger on why. it was because of jiang this whole time?"
you blink at him. "so... you knew something was wrong but you thought it was just me? you weren't paying attention to her at all this entire time?"
kazuha shakes his head. "if it involves romance," he smooths his thumbs over the backs of your hands, "the only person i ever pay attention to is you."
you... don't know what to say.
kazuha keeps talking. "it sounds to me like you've been upset because jiang has been trying to pursue me despite our being together." the smug bastard has the gall to smirk at you. "were you jealous, dove? is that what this is about?"
you slip your hand out of kazuha's and slap his shoulder, embarrassment burning your cheeks. he's not wrong, not in the slightest, but there's no reason for him to say it out loud. "so what if it is?"
kazuha takes your face in his hands and presses a flurry of kisses on your face despite your complaints. "my little angel-" kiss "was so whiny-" kiss "all this time-" kiss "because they were jealous."
"would you shut up?" you give up your fight and just let him chuckle and keep kissing you. this is the kind of affection you really needed, but not at the cost of your pride. it feels so good to be doted on like this after being so high strung for so long. "and i was not whiny. i was angry. get it right."
kazuha kisses your nose. "yes, yes, whatever you say, dove." when he pulls back, he's all smiles, mirth dancing in his eyes. "why don't you tell me why you were so jealous?"
you frown. "don't make me say it."
"i'd like to hear it."
"kazuha, no." when kazuha gives you a faux wounded look, your heart tugs against your will. he even pouts a little, really trying to sell the act. you sigh, defeated. you put your hands over his and mutter your response into his palm.
kazuha leans in close. your face feels like it's on fire. "what was that, dove? i couldn't hear you. will you say it again for me?"
"i said," you raise your voice and quickly lower it, "because you're mine. and she didn't get it."
to make up for all the teasing, kazuha kisses you sweetly and you can't help but kiss back. he guides you through the kiss slowly, like you two have all the time in the world. kazuha breaks the kiss and pecks your lips once, then twice. "that's all i wanted to hear." he murmurs against your lips. "i'm all yours, dove. no one else's."
cheekily, you ask: "promise?"
kazuha kisses you as an answer. you're like putty in his hands; he speeds up the kiss this time, laughing under his breath when you sigh, frustrated. you tug at his bottom lip gently with your teeth and he inhales sharply; that always stops him in his tracks. you pull back to look at him and see a blush quickly crawling onto his face. "you're cute," you mumble.
the blush creeps onto his face faster. kazuha averts his eyes for a second -- he's flustered. "so you say."
rather than answer, you kiss him again, this time licking at the seam of his lips to deepen it. kazuha gives way immediately, sighing into the kiss. his hands drop to your shoulders and his fingers twitch each time your tongue meets his own. he makes a small noise when you cup his jaw with a hand and pull away. kazuha's eyes are hooded and his brows are drawn, likely with irritation at you having broken the kiss. he's so pretty like this, barely hiding the desperation that glitters in his eyes.
kazuha moves to kiss you again but you move down, kissing a path from his jaw down to his neck. kazuha inhales sharply and brings a hand to your head as you plant warm kisses against his skin. "it's a little--" he pauses to sigh. "a little early for this, isn't it, dove?"
you can barely hear him. there's only one thing on your mind besides the lingering irritation. you start to suck on a spot just beneath his jaw and feel his fingers curl in your hair. "'m not gonna do all that today," you mutter. "just hang in there. can you do that?"
kazuha hums shakily and swallows, his adam's apple bobbing in his throat. you move along his neck and suck until purples and reds bloom against his skin. all that can be heard in the room is the sound of your kisses and kazuha's broken sighs. he hisses when you bite him particularly hard; he tugs at your hair when you laugh.
"must you bite so hard--?" kazuha's words are broken by a small sound when you suck at a particularly sensitive spot.
"i told you," you kiss your way to the other side of his neck to make fresh marks, "just hang in there."
it doesn't take much longer before kazuha has matching marks on both sides of his neck. after soothing your final one with a few kisses, you finally pull back to admire your handiwork. suddenly, you don't feel so irritated anymore. even better, kazuha's breathing is a little heavy and his cheeks are flushed pink. he won't even look you in the eyes.
you can't help it; you laugh. "are you alright, kazuha?"
kazuha glances at you. you must be looking at him some kind of way, because his cheeks darken and he averts his eyes again. his hand comes up to his neck, covering a few of the marks. "it stings." he mutters. he sounds a little upset, but you can see the satisfied glow in his eyes.
"good." you kiss his forehead one more time before getting off the bed and heading to the mirror to fix your hair. behind you, kazuha takes a second before grabbing his scarf and pulling it on. normally you'd be a little upset about that, but when he stands beside you in the mirror to get a better look at the marks you left, you grin while he squints at you. his scarf isn't hiding much from view.
"you're devious." kazuha says. "and what do you suppose i say to anybody who asks what happened?"
you think for a moment before you shrug. kazuha rolls his eyes at you. you head to the door and open it. your boyfriend tugs his scarf up higher and steps outside. "how does breakfast sound?" you ask him as you walk.
kazuha -- whose ears are red you notice -- sighs. "it sounds nice." he sounds resigned. not upset -- he just knows that he's been beat. it's not often that he's on the receiving end of this. he slips his hand into yours as you walk.
and when you walk past jiang, you relish in the way her face falls. she hides the furin behind her back and walks away, and you don't feel an ounce of regret.
✦ yeah... yeah this feels good. feels good as fuck. i feel strong. yeah.

Genshin Kazuha x Transmale! Reader
Plot; Reader and Kazuha are out on a supply trip in Liyue for the Alcor, and someone misgenders the Reader. Que Kazuha's boyfriend fluff to the rescue
Warnings; Misgendering, slight dysphoria, As someone who's trans myself, I have a good amount of experience with being called the wrong thing, and man it's a pain in my ass lmao.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Regular P.o.V
------------------
Liyue was always especially gorgeous, but when night fell, and all the lanterns lit up and filled the stone roads with glowing brightness, the city truly became magnificent. Having traveled all around with Beidou's crew on the Alcor, you've come to appreciate the scenery many different cities and towns have given you. The City of Freedom, with towering walls and a carefree atmosphere, Liyue, with rocky cliffs and trade merchants from all over Teyvat. Even the harsh airs of Inazuma, where it seems like the entire region is halted in time. Ironically, it was in the cold lands of the electric nations that you've met your -now-boyfriend, Kazuha. It was a tough start at first, both of you were very new to dating and relationships, both of you dealing with inner tribulations of your own. You had come to realize shortly after going to Inazuma that you were transgender, and Kazuha was still struggling to find a way to re-light his late friend's vision.
When you had come out, the entire crew was all very supportive, some of the younger men offering you advice on your stance or how to get your voice to sound deeper, Captain Beidou was generous enough to find you some more masculine clothing as well. All around, it was very well perceived, and according to Kazuha, it didn't deter his romantic feelings for you.
That's how you ended up with him here, strolling through the harbor on a night stroll, looking for a place to sit down and eat. "Do you think Captain Beidou is gonna wonder what's taking us so long?" You asked quietly, enjoying the serene tranquillity that Liyue offered. Kazuha smiled, "I'm sure she can already piece together what's keeping us," chuckling lightly, he pulled you a little closer so that his arm was resting on your lower waist. After walking a bit more around, you both settle on eating at Wanmin Restuarant. "What're you interested in ordering?" You ask, glancing up from your menu as you skimmed over the pages. Kazuha hummed, "perhaps something light, though, if they have anything new I'm almost inclined to have a taste," you let out a small laugh. "Usually you're very specific with your food, what's got you wondering?" The white-haired male merely shrugged, "Captain said I should try to broaden my tastes when we visited Angel's Share last time we arrived at Mondstadt, I figured Liyue would offer the perfect opportunity to do so." You nodded in agreement, "Liyue is known for some excellent delicacies, they're completely different from other regions too." After that, it wasn't long before someone came to take your orders.
You and Kazuha kept talking about recipes and the food you both have tasted on your travels when the waiter had come around with the food. "For you, sir," he said as he placed a plate down in front of Kazuha, "and for the lady," you froze on the spot when those words left the waiter's mouth, stiffly throwing on a smile and a quiet 'thanks.' Kazuha had also picked up immediately and went to correct him, "Thank you, My boyfriend and I will surely enjoy our meals." He had put a lot of emphasis on your title as his boyfriend, and while the waiter was nice enough to utter out a "my mistake, I hope you gentlemen both enjoy your time here," the damage was already done, and Kazuha could already sense the dread that seemingly crawled up your spine out of nowhere.
The walk back to the Alcor was quiet, you couldn't stop thinking about your appearance or how un-masculine you presented. Kazuha could sense your destress from miles away, and while he did his best to offer comforting words and caresses, he knew it did little to actually soothe the tsunami of thoughts in your head.
It was fairly late into the night, and you and Kazuha and gotten ready for bed, sitting with Kazuha's arms wrapped around you as you lay facing I'm, the same detached look on your face from when the waiter had made an error. He felt his heart tug, watching as you struggled to find it in you to forget about the day and close your eyes. "Y/n? My beloved," you turned up at Kazuha's calming tone. "I know you are overwhelmed, but please remember your worth. You are incredibly brave and talented, a wonderful boyfriend, and an amazing partner that I am grateful to have." A blush crept onto your cheeks, you snuggled closer to his chest in an effort to hide it. "You are so handsome, my love. So full of passion, and eyes so full of light you outshine even the brightest star in the galaxy. You may not view yourself as such, but please know I view you as the light that shone in my time of darkness. You are the beautiful man that pulled me to my senses and kept me steady, who encouraged me to do my best even if you weren't feeling the greatest yourself." He smiled down at you, hugging you a little tighter as a hand snuck around the back of your head to massage it. "I hope you know how much I hold you dear, and how proud I am of you for coming this far, I won't ever stray too far from you, beloved. Not while the wind blows and the sun keeps rising, I will always be right by your side whenever you may need me."
By the end of his speech, you had grown a little more drowsy, the calming tone and the gentle touch at the back of your head along with his warmth had done more than enough to calm your nerves and aching heart. "Kazuha.." you spoke quietly, as said man locked eyes with you. "I hope you know how much I love you as well, and how thankful I am to have someone as supportive as you by my side." A yawn broke through the end of your sentence, only making your boyfriend ever the more fond of you. "Of course, my love."

ohhhhh my . OHHHH MY. your yan venti headcanons were… MMMMMMM
may i propose to you… yandere thoma?? i’m interested in how his dynamic would play out specifically, since his top priority SHOULS be the kamisato clan (aka ayaka, ayato)
i wonder how he would react when darling (presumably not from inazuma) leaves to and from inazuma? i don’t really imagine thoma as being a dominant yandere, but more a needy, pining one… (like we discussed a couple asks ago >:))
content warning: yandere themes, unhealthy relationships, helplessness/dependence
notes: glad you enjoyed the venti hcs! took me quite a while for thoma as I’m not too familiar with him! I just finished his hangout and oh my god, mihoyo actually had the courage to make a malewife character?? standing ovation for their boldness. and the fact that their hangout touched on issues like xenophobia and misogyny is just. wow. stunned. his and ningguang’s are two of my favourites.
i'd agree that thoma doesn’t seem to be the… forceful? type. very subtle yandere. very mild as a yandere. how could i ever think that he was similar to childe??? blasphemy. i have truly sinned. as for character priorities, even though i give them yandere qualities, i try to keep them as in character as possible. so yes, i definitely agree that he’d be torn between darling and the kamisato clan. i think for thoma, loyalty wins above all else... but he's called a fixer for a reason :winks:
funny sidenote, but when you said yandere thoma, after playing through that one ending with the windwheel aster, my thought immediately went to a darling that’s from mondstadt visiting inazuma hehe. big brains think alike (or is it just thirsty ones?) anyway, as always, this turned out longer than i expected. after this, i think I’m done with yandere thoma for a while. he takes actual brain cells to write, and the booster shot fried too many of mine.

i. alight
Carefree wind. Feathered wings. Scattered wishes and dandelion seeds. To Thoma, that is who you are. Whenever the Alcor first lowers anchor in Ritou, the first to greet you at the docks is always Thoma.
"You're back," he says with a friendly grin. You always smile back, and it makes the waiting all the more worth it.
.
.
.
ii. settle
A customary offer of tea at the Komore Teahouse, and you accept. A careful slip of his hand at the small of your back. A rustle as his fingers sink in fabric. Thoma guides you toward the teahouse with a gentle force. You’ve been here enough to know the way, but he likes to make himself useful. He sees you so rarely, that any touch he could steal, he does.
Warmth seeps into his fingertips from your skin. Burns like Pyro. Your clothing has always been too light for his liking—but also a blessing. In more ways than one.
You never comment. Perhaps you never realized the intimacy. Perhaps you don't care.
“Seems like you had a difficult journey,” he says when you yawn, the corner of his eyes crinkling at how adorable you look. He wishes he could capture it, but you’ve always shied away from Kameras.
“The weather was as awful as ever,” you say, shaking your head. “Always so turbulent, with that raging storm. The Raiden Shogun should learn how to relax. I have some advice if she needs it.”
He laughs at your nonchalant, irreverent words. You never did have the fear of the gods instilled in you. Perhaps it is the Mondstadt in you, but he wouldn’t trade it for anything else. “Maybe she should. I have some teas for recommendation then,” he jokes, drawing a chuckle out of you. Good thing the Komore Teahouse is known for privacy. “How long are you staying this time?”
“Only a few days, if all goes well.” You blow gently over the tea before taking a careful sip. “I’ve got this letter I need to deliver for a commission. After that”—you hum, eyes closed in thought, and Thoma wonders if you ever think of him—“I think I need some photos of the Narukami shrine and a fortune slip for a merchant. As though me drawing it will transfer the luck to him somehow,” you scoff. “But you know merchants and their strange superstitions.”
“Nothing major then?”
“Nope,” you say with a pop of your lips, and then sprawls over the table, one cheek flat on the table. “Boring, easy commissions are all I ever get. The most excitement I’ve gotten was probably the ship ride here.”
Thoma glances and notes the sallowness of your skin. He’ll get you something to eat later, he decides. But for now, he ruffles you hair, mussing it into tangles entwined in his fingers. You squawk in protest, one hand already trying batting him away. Like a cat, he thinks, amused. “Wanna go feed the strays with me?”
You sit up, eyes sparkling. “Strays?”
For the briefest of moments, Thoma allows himself to feel self-satisfied at your unrivalled attention on him.
.
.
.
iii. root
You are a wind of nostalgia, storming through Thoma’s heart every time you come. An adventurer, always in search of the unknown. An adventurer, always flitting from nation to nation.
Mondstadt is so far away; yet in you, it is so close. Stories of places he only remembers in hazy memories long ago, of people he’s only heard in passing, all of it falls from you lips and settles in his mind. Were he not tied irrevocably to the Kamisato clan, he thinks he would have liked to be an adventurer accompanying you on your travels. Or at the very least, a home for you to return to.
But an adventurer never stays in place. The wind never stills, and the dandelions is never far behind.
Thoma balances pros and cons in a mental account book, tallying up debts and credits in columns in hopes of arriving at an answer. In hopes of having you stay. But despite his skills, the calculations never succeed.
So when he sends you off, the Alcor raising anchors, spiriting you away from him, Thoma always smiles. Carefree. He hopes that’s how you’ll remember him.
Even if he feels anything but.
.
.
.
iv. entwine
“Is that…” Thoma sniffs the bottle in your hand and wrinkles his nose. “Dandelion wine?”
“Bingo!” you slur, wrapping one hand around his neck and pulling him close. You press your face into the crook of his neck, always so casually intimate when you’re drunk; he should be used to it, but fires burn every time. He stills at the feeling of your breath on his throat, at the scent of alcohol so heady around you. “Dandelion wine, straight from Mondstadt! Want some, Thoma?”
“You know me and alcohol," he says hoarsely. His heart is racing, but you’re too drunk to hear its rabbit-fast rhythm. "We don’t mix well together.”
“Come on! Shouldn’t wine run in at least half your veins? I'll drink for both of us then.” You laugh softly, and Thoma thinks of the quiet rustles of small lamp grass. A swaying glow, disturbed by pattering feet. Something in his chest clenches, and for a second, he’s left breathless. Dazed at the power of you.
It never lasts long. Just like how you never last long in Inazuma.
.
.
.
v. imbibe
There’s one time that you do stay. Like Furuya, you’re prone to illness. As luck would have it, you fall sick in Inazuma. You can’t handle the rough journey back. Captain Beidou fusses over you, saying that the Crux is more than willing to wait, but you dismiss her concern with a weak wave of your hand. I’ll be fine, you say. After all, Thoma’s here.
Thoma becomes your crutch, and when you lean on him, there’s something right. Like sweeping away dust, leaving behind shiny, lacquered wood.
Like making a home.
“I’ll take good care of her, Captain,” Thoma promises, and Beidou lets you go reluctantly.
It had definitely been an ordeal, getting you back into the Kamisato Estate. Halfway through, you almost collapse. Thoma sweeps you up in his arms, and you don’t even protest. Curls up in his arms like a kitten, murmurs nonsensical things in your feverish state as he carries you back home. Questions about the sky, about the stars, about the unknown abyss, and how you wish to visit them all.
It’s too bad that you’re too sick to do it. Too sick to leave. Unfortunately.
For three days and three nights, Thoma watches over you as the illness runs its course. Housework needed to be done. Deals needed to be made. Messes needed to be cleaned. Later, Thoma tells himself. Later, he’ll make up for it. He’ll apologize to Master Ayato and Lady Ayaka. They’ll understand.
Because how can he leave when you’re like this? When you’re so weak, you can’t dress yourself, can’t eat, can barely even breathe without him.
He wishes you could stay like this. Wishes on a dandelion that you could stay.
Sometimes, when you’re in another fever dream, Thoma lets himself help you drink water—lets himself to you. He sips the cool fluid into his mouth and then slants his lips over yours. The water trickles from him to you, and you greedily gulp it down, as though he were your life source.
Needy. Helpless. Dependent. That’s how he likes you best.
.
.
.
vi. flower
It is inevitable that you would leave. You have the heart of an adventurer, too mercurial for the eternity of Inazuma. So on the last day, he gives to you a parting gift.
“Thoma… you shouldn’t have!” You murmur, one hand gliding over neatly stitched wool. A determined look sweeps over your face. “I’m going to put it on right now!”
He laughs at your enthusiasm as you tug the knitted sweater over your head. Just as he expected, it’s the perfect size. Sharpness snags on his throat at the way it molds to your body. His work wrapped around you. Him around you.
“It fits so well,” you say in astonishment. “How’d you know my size?”
“Oh, you know me,” he says easily, voice with just the right amount of cheer. “I’m not a housekeeper for nothing. My eyes are pretty good at guessing stuff like this.” A lie, but you didn’t need to know that he had taken measurements while you were feverish. Feverish enough to not remember his touch.
“You didn’t have to do something like this," you fret, wringing your hands.
“It’s nothing much! I finished it yesterday.” Another lie. He’s had it finished before you even arrived. But he didn’t want you to have before you left. Perhaps he had hoped that the chill of autumn...
He sweeps those thoughts off aside, before they clutter the rest of his mind.

vi. flight
Before you board the ship, as you always do, you press a dandelion seed into his hand. A gentle grasp of his still hand with calloused fingers—you always did push yourself too hard when training.
“A gift to remind you of Mondstadt,” you say, and he doesn’t say that he’d rather you than all the dandelions in the world. Instead, he forces himself to smile as you relinquish him and leave. Waves goodbye as the ship fades into the distance, hiding his clenched fist with the small seed behind his back.
As a child, Thoma remembers chasing flying dandelion seeds, small fist snatching at air as he races through the grassy fields. But dandelion seeds were meant to glide far, far away, his mother had said with a laugh. They carry your hope within, so that your wish can be heard by Barbatos, even when afar.
Thoma’s loyalty to the Kamisato clan does not waver. He cannot leave Inazuma. He has decided his path. But when you’re here, he doesn’t miss Mondstadt so much. You’re a dandelion seed that’s braved tempest and storm to arrive in Inazuma. To grant his wish. He used to want to go home to Mondstadt, but now… he’d rather have you.
He’s not a child anymore. He’s grown older. Taller. His arms are longer. His hand bigger. Maybe now, he’ll finally be able to snatch one of those flying dandelion seed.
Maybe next time, he’ll learn how to keep you.

I forgot to add 🤦♀️ That I'm requesting for a oneshot heh!
A couple more details, I promise!
- Reader avoids everyone, specifically Kazu, like the freaking plague (how?? On a ship too?? Kazu is an expert in finding people?? idk) and after the fight, she goes dead silent. She doesn't even communicate with Beidou, her childhood best friend. She tells herself that she has no rights to speak. She still does her work though, just.. really quietly. Until one day (weeks after? Days after?), Kazu catches her, per say. (Yk, the classic.. wrist grab, kabedon.. I'm a sucker for clichés I'm so sorry)
- I don't remember if I mentioned this but she left her comfort space (Liyue) for him, so...
Also if this is too complicated for you, just any simple angst to fluff will do!! So it's easier for you if you find it difficult to write. ((: My apologies again if I'm all over the place.
Scent of the Earth
pairing: Kaedehara Kazuha x Fem!Reader
genre: Hurt/Comfort
words: 2.9k
summary: A few words won't be enough to undo what he said, but he will spend a lifetime making it up to you.
a/n: Stan Beidou
part 1
Kazuha doesn't need to hear the wind taunting and berating in his ears to know that he messed up. He has become aware of that fact as soon as he leaves the Alcor, but the maelstrom of anger and worry and disbelief still swirled in his mind, preventing him from going back to you less he says something he doesn't mean to.
A low sigh escapes his lips as he remembers your reaction, unable to get your stunned and shell-shocked expression out of his mind. His gut twist when he thinks about the things he said to you. He shouldn't have been so calloused, he should have been gentler and calmer.
But just thinking about it makes him remember seeing you on the ground with the Whopperflower looming over you. He remembers how a hole had suddenly open up in his stomach and how his heart stopped and became nothing more than a lump as fire burns around him. He remembers feeling the wind urging him forward, but a darker part in his mind whispers into his ears and telling him he will never make it in time.
Bile rise to his throat, and Kazuha clenches at his kimono, feeling the erratic thumping of his heart against his bandaged hands. He doesn't even want to envision what would happen if the Traveler hadn't been there.
He takes several deep breaths in and out to regulate his breathing and let the sounds of nature calm his nerves. As soon as he gets his thinking straight, he will go back and hopefully talk this out with you, unwilling to let this argument simmer.
He wants to make things right, especially when it comes to you.
The first thing Kazuha notice when he steps aboard the ship is the look on Beidou's face as he glares at him. He unconsciously gulps at how stormy her ruby eyes have become, arms cross over her chest and lips a thin line as she stares him down. Surely this is what the sea monster Haishan had witness before it was slain by her great sword.
"Captain." He tries to keep his voice even.
"Kazuha," the stoic way she says his name makes his heart skip a beat. "I need to speak with you. Now." She emphasizes the word and turn on her heels, not even sparing a glance to see if he is following her. She leads him to the bow of the ship, where there is no one on deck except for Liushi on the crow's nest, but he is too high up to listen to their conversation.
"What in the name of the great dark sea were you thinking talking to (Y/N) like that?" Beidou half-yelled as her eyes narrowed. "I want you to explain to me this instance, and depending on your answer I'll decide if I'll throw you off this ship or not."
Kazuha swallows, knowing full well that she isn't making an empty threat and will throw him overboard without hesitation.
He recounts the day's events to her, faltering when it comes to the part where you were almost burned by the Whopperflower. There is only silence as he finishes, and when he meets her eyes the storm is still there, although he now also sees hints of resignation.
She sighs heavily. "Look, I don't know how much you think your words affected her, but when I came in, she was having a panic attack. She couldn't breathe, Kazuha."
It feels like the pit in his stomach has open up again, bubbling with anxiety as his eyes widen. "What? Where is she? Is she okay?"
Beidou lays a hand on his shoulder to calm him down. "She's fine, I got her to calm down and she's currently resting. Kazuha, how much do you know about her family?"
"I know she doesn't have the best relationship with her parents and siblings." His eyebrows furrow. "She told me that they're going around Teyvat adventuring while she stays in Liyue."
Beidou purse her lips. "I'm afraid it isn't as simple as that. I don't want to get into many details, but (Y/N) didn't have the best childhood. Her family has never made her feel like she's enough, and it only got worse when it turns out she's the only one in her family without a Vision. Growing up, I remember (Y/N) coming to me crying whenever her parents would tell her she's worthless. A burden." The brown-haired captain tightened her hold on him as the faint sound of lightning crackle in the air. "She didn't chose to stay in Liyue. Her family abandoned her."
Kazuha's blood boil in fury while simultaneously feeling sick to his stomach at the thought of you being treated that way by the people who were supposed to love you the most. He has half the mind to track them down and show them how amazing you are without them.
Then, he remembers everything he tells you during your argument and it's as if though a lightning bolt has struck him down.
Beidou inwardly sighs at the look of horror and realization on the young man's face. "Now you see how your words have affected her. It may have been things said in the heat of the moment for you, but it wasn't like that for her. (Y/N) is currently resting in my cabin for the night, and I don't want you to disturb her. See to it that you make it up to her in the morning."
Before she leaves, she smacks him on the back of his head and gives him a hard look. "And Kazuha, if you talk to her like that again, I will throw you off overboard myself without letting you explain yourself."
Kazuha has all the determination in the world to apologize for everything he's done to you and more. He'll even get on his knees if he has to, filled with guilt at how he treated you.
The gods, unoblivious to his determination or wanting to mock him, makes the task extra hard for him.
One of the crewmates of one of the smaller ships of the fleet has gone down with a contagious disease, and you were called in the middle of the night to take care of her. Since the risk of the disease spreading is high, that entire ship was quarantined and he had to spend days not being able to see you.
No holding you in his arms. No sneaking around and making excuses to slide into the same hammock with you to cuddle. Not being able to see the way the corner of your lips curve into a beautiful smile that makes the world seems brighter. No whispering cheesy lines of poetry and musings into your ears and hearing your laughter that makes his heart melt. Not being able to walk around hand in hand with you or kiss you on the lips and see that gorgeous shade of red splashed across your cheeks.
The other crewmembers notice how listless he has become – the carefree Kazuha always with an easy smile on his face now performs his task methodically and robotically. The poetry and flowery words that used to flow easily from his lips have essentially ceased, his wellspring of inspiration have dried up without you, his muse, around.
Kazuha finds his eyes directed towards the ship where you're at a couple of times a day, even in the middle of doing his work.
Are you faring all right? Are you eating and sleeping well? Please don't get sick.
Please come back to me.
He is lost in thought until he hears Juza scolding him for neglecting his duties.
Finally, when everyone has recovered from the sickness thanks to your efforts and the period of quarantine is over, Kazuha feels a flicker of hope in his heart. However, that hope is quickly dashed when Yinxing tells him that you're at the Bubu Pharmacy, occupied with something. And even before he could ask if he can go, Beidou and Juza have began to pile duties and tasks on his shoulders.
The Crux is preparing for another trip to Inazuma to deliver some important shipment, and all hands are needed on deck to arrange everything. The captain works everyone to the bone, to the point where at the end of the day all he wants to do is slump down and sleep the night away.
Before he drifts away, however, he notices the empty space of your hammock and curls into a ball, aware of the cold chilling him to the bone without you there.
"Please, Captain." Kazuha entreats for the second time, standing ground against Beidou's stare. He woke up that morning with even more conviction than before, doing all his work with time to spare by using his Vision to boost his speed. He will talk to you today, no matter how much the gods want to make it hard for him.
Beidou, not oblivious to the dark circles under his eyes and the forlorn expression on his face that he only shows when he thinks no one is looking. It makes her shudder to be reminded of how much it is similar to how he used to act when she first take him on.
"All right," she acquiesces. "You can go, but I don't know where she is."
"She's at the Bubu Pharmacy," Yinxing joins in. "I think (Y/N) said something about a job offer."
Beidou's eyes widen, this information new to her as well. She's just about to say something when a breeze blows up her hair, and when she turns around all she sees is the faint image of autumn leaves drifting down.
Kazuha has never run so fast in his life, even faster than the time he has to escape the Shogun's forces. His Vision shines and rattles as he concentrates Anemo energy onto his feet to boost himself forward. All the while, the wind – or his own mind – sneers into his ears.
Will you make it this time, wanderer? Or will she too slip through your fingers?
He sprints through the streets of Liyue, stirring up a gale wherever he passes, but he disregards the surprised shouts and yells of the people. He only has one destination in mind, and he has to make it. He has to.
Even when his legs beg for him to stop and his heart is just about to beat out of his ribcage, Kazuha does not stop running until he finally arrives at the flight of stairs leading up to the pharmacy. He halts to catch his breath, and when he lifts his head he spots a familiar head of (h/c) hair.
You stare at him like a prey being cornered, and before he can even say anything you have already dash down the stairs and sprint toward the path leading to Mt. Tianheng.
"(Y/N)!" Kazuha screams and run after you, not even minding the curious looks the others are giving him. He silently curse under his breath, wondering how he doesn't know you can run that fast. But he still does have the blessing of the wind on his side, and soon enough he is able to catch up to you.
"Wait! Please!" He grasp onto your wrist as gently as possible, but not loose enough that you'll be able to run away from him, as even now you're struggling to escape from his hold. "You don't have to say anything, but please, just listen to me." His eyes are pained as you turn your back to him, obscuring him from being able to look at your face.
"I know what I said was wrong. I shouldn't have snapped at you like that, no matter how angry I was. I should have been calmer, should have been gentler with you. I was just–" Kazuha feels like a lump is caught in his throat. "I was so scared when I saw you there on the ground. Almost everyone dear to me has been taken from me right in front of my eyes, and I couldn't bear the sight of you being in danger. Losing you would mean the death of my soul, and the world will become dull and gray."
He keeps going, briefly noticing how you have become still for a moment. "Even so, that does not excuse my behavior. I made you feel like you are less than your worth, and for that mistake I can never forgive myself. You are enough. You are more than enough. No matter what people say, you are brilliant, remarkable, extraordinary, that and more. The other crewmembers would not have recovered from that illness if not for you. After every celebration everyone would have been hungover until the end of time if not for your miraculous hangover cure. The soldiers at Watatsumi is thankful for your help in tending to the wounded. Even I would not have gone through that fever without your caring touch."
You still don't say a word, but he is more than willing to pour his heart out to you. "Do you want to know one of the reasons why I love you? It's these hands." His fingers leave your wrist to hold your hand, his thumb caressing the back of it. He breathes a sigh of relief when you don't flinch away from his touch. Kazuha shivers at finally being able to hold your hand after days without you. Your hand is small in his, but he knows the hidden strength behind them.
"These hands that have picked and plucked flowers and dug into the ground for roots. These hands that have pounded and mixed herbs and ingredients tirelessly until they became paste. These hands that have soothed and wiped away sweat and tears. Countless wounds and injuries have been dressed and tended to by these hands."
He holds back the desire to raise your hand to his lips and kiss each of your fingertips. "You are worthy. You are irreplaceable. No one can compare to you."
There is only silence as he finishes, and Kazuha's stomach twists into knots the longer you remain quiet. "(Y/N), you really don't have to say anything. You don't even have to forgive me if you don't want to. But please, will you look at me?"
Another moment of silence pass, this one making him even more anxious than the last. He opens his mouth to say something when suddenly he hears your voice.
"Those Duskblooms are said to have cooling properties that can treat burns," you say softly. "You've been telling me that your burn has been bothering you lately, so I was hoping that I can develop a new kind of ointment that can help with that."
His mouth drops open and his heart skips a beat, not only from finally being able to hear your voice, but also due to the rush of guilt overwhelming him.
"By the Archons," his voice shakes. "I really don't deserve you."
You finally turn around, but your eyes are still downcast. "I'm sorry."
Kazuha shakes his head vigorously. "I should be the one saying sorry to you. I'm sorry for making you feel like a burden. I'm sorry for comparing you to the Traveler. I'm sorry for implying that I don't want to travel with you anymore."
You raise your head to meet his eyes and is immediately struck with the sincerity and remorse swimming in them. But there's a far more important emotion that you see.
Unbridled, unrestrained, ardent love.
You choke back a sob as you let yourself fall into his chest, letting yourself be swathed in the warmth that you have missed so much. He immediately wraps his arms around you, feeling like he can finally breathe normally again.
"I was so scared–" You tremble in his embrace. "I was so scared you've finally realized I'm not worthy to be by your side. I was so scared you realize you can do much better than me."
He holds you even closer, completely enveloping your small form with his. "Never. Never, never. You will always be the one for me. There will never be anyone else that I want to fall in love with. You are my muse, my inspiration, the light of my life. You help anchor me to the ground when I find myself lost in the clouds, but you never hold me back." He's aware of the fact that your tears are making his kimono wet, but he doesn't care. For tears too, are falling from his eyes. "A place is not home to me if you're not there."
Kazuha let you empty out all your emotions while he run his fingers through your hair and occasionally whispering affectionate and reassuring words into your ears.
"I promise I won't place myself in a position of danger so recklessly again," you say once your crying dies down.
"And I promise to always protect you and never make you feel anything but less than yourself." Kazuha kisses the top of your head. "You are, and forever will be, truly wondrous in my eyes."
"And perhaps, if need be, some people say running is the best thing to do."
He laughs lightly at your attempt at a joke. "You, my dear, have certainly proven yourself to be a fast runner indeed."
The Alcor's crew's ears perk up at the sound of your laughter, mixing in with Kazuha's airier one. Some of them peer overboard to see the two of you walking along the shore hand in hand, lost in each other's eyes.
And all seems right with the world.

MORE TRANS READER AS PER YOUR REQUEST! it's a bit of a mess but it's super fun and fluffy.
warnings: cult behaviors, dysphoria, lots of fluff :))
Nicknames and constant compliments.
They'd call you Prince/Princess, I don't make the rules
some of them start to get the whole dysphoria thing and will give you small compliments that mean the world
like "Your hands are so masculine/feminine!" "Wow your voice is so cute/handsome/hot/pretty!" "You've got a little fuzz on your face."/ "Your face is so smooth!"
stuff like that. the compliments that cater to your weird dysphoric needs.
I STILL WANNA STAY ON THE OUTFIT THOUGHTS OKAY?
Ningguang buying you literally anything you want.
Taking your kins or characters you find aesthetically pleasing to help you pick out outfits
Imagine buying a really masc/fem outfit and strutting around with the boys/girls in town acting like you own the place (because you do)
(Fem) imagine a flowy dress or skirt and flowy sleeves. Or a cute kimono from Inazuma with cute earrings you got from your favorite character. (Imagine getting cat earrings from Diona)
(Masc) Or a hoodie like chongyun has, a dress shirt, chains, rings. That necklace thing that Thoma wears.
PIRATE. APPAREL. A PIRATE HAT. pirate apparel is not gendered but imagine a super masc/fem version of pirate wear and boarding the alcor with Beidou i'm-
The amount of euphoria!
and if anybody ever misgenders you on purpose literally the entirety of teyvat will sneer at them
like wtf dude? that's basic human respect dumbass. you're creating a problem from nothing.
you'll never see whoever did that again :)) (childe took the "boil the homophobes" too literally)
Comfort from Dysphoria
as far as we're aware none of the characters are trans and understand dysphoria. But if there is anybody that would understand it would be the gods. Specifically Venti.
They can change forms, surely they understand that if they're in the wrong form everything feels wrong.
Whenever you approach Venti about this he understands. Not to the extent you do since he's not trapped in one body, but he does get it.
"It was such an awful feeling." Venti grimaced, "I changed my form as soon as I could to get rid of it. Is that what you go through everyday?" His eyes shone with pity. Sadness that his beloved god feels so awful all the time.
Venti, being the cutest dumbass bard that he is, sings a song praising you using your name and pronouns (think "He's a Jolly Good Fellow" but you and your pronouns. really dumb but cute)
It's so goofy that you can't help but giggle uncontrolably. Any thoughts of dysphoria or self hatred pretty much gone with the wind.
-Venti jokingly making his voice higher/lower to show you how masc/fem you are
-Zhongli giving you masculine/feminine jewlery custom made by him with pretty stones
-Ei doesn't know how to be comforting so she'll probably just be your supply of sweets on those really rough days. She'll also personally m u r d e r those that made you upset.
-IMAGINE Beidou and Xinyan helping you look like a masculine girl and Venti and Xingqiu helping you look like feminine guy. Like imagine for my trans mascs, looking like a boy but wearing a skirt!! Or wearing a tux and looking like a girl for trans fems!!
"Razor, what do I smell like?"
"Like...Lupical..."
"No, like, does my scent give away my biological sex?"
"Sex? Your scent... like lupical?"
"Razor I-"
"..."
"T-thank you Razor..."
":D"
-Someone is misgendering you and the traveler gets more and more pissed off while Paimon not-so-sutbly corrects them, her voice getting higher and higher everytime they use the wrong pronoun.
TransMasc!Reader: My chest is so big :(
Beidou: *proud* Not as big as these honkers *slaps her chest*
Transfem Reader begging the women of genshin to spare some boobage.
Aether and Lumine being the best older siblings:
Aether helping transmasc reader with his wardrobe and daily routine.
"i have long hair so you shouldn't worry about how long yours is"
He helps you do masculine makeup, "My sister taught me how to do it, i'll try to make is as masculine as possible :))"
if your hair is short but grows back super quick and you don't wanna get your hair cut every week Aether will jokingly put it in a tiny ponytail to match his braid.
You teasingly steal his sword and he just stares at you with his hand to his chin, humming, "You look very masculine with a sword."
Lumine dresses transfem reader all pretty everyday with fancy and cute dresses and jewlery.
Going shopping with Lumine and she points out every item she thinks would look good on you.
"Here take these dresses and model them for me!" She grinned.
The two of you had a whole fashion show in the dressing room.
Lumine puts flowers in your hair whenever she can because you just look so cute! (it was originally Venti's idea but Lumine beat him to it)
Lumine doing your makeup super fem and pretty. Matching makeup!! The two of you sitting at the vanity staring into the mirror, "What kind of look are we going for today?"
STYLING. YOUR. HAIR. doesn't matter how long or short it is, it's Lumine's to style! now She'll have a blast with your hair, she has lots of experience with Aether's hair and her own so she'll have fun and you'll definetely like the results.
