I was looking at a voice actor bio for an oc voiceclaim and the SHOCK when this mf was credited as Kirio????

Anyways. It's actually quite nice, specially for a Crunchyroll dub. Except for the Iruma VA. Love her other work but she is constantly trying to deeper her voice to sound like a young boy. It isn't bad for a background character, but for the MC of 3 seasons it just doesn't cut it 💀

(I described it as someone in a fandub trying to voice a male character but their voice is very fem, and, figures, she actually used to do fandubs).

All others are quite nice imo, you just neet to get used to them. The Kirio VA had some bills to pay because he gave everything in the end of the batras arc. And Balam and Henry got the DILFIEST voices ever, all adults characters did, but them... I love them. Most my complaints goes to audio mixing, timing and dub direction, the audio quality is quite wonky at times and some lines could've used a re-takes, together with some diferent approaches to certain characters, but that's not up to the voice actors to know.

Also funfacts, Opera is referred to by male pronouns (note: I don't think we have an oficial Manga translation yet, so I was unsure how they would refer to them). I think it's funny how I see them with a different pronoun set every translation, the unofficial Manga translations flip-flop between She and He depending who's doing it, the pinnacle of gender. They also nailed the voice, very androgenous, love to see it.

They don't dub any of the songs as far as I saw. Including the school anthem or the Clara family songs. Might be wrong, I'm just skimming through.

I might watch all 3 seasons and do a detailed analysis of how it was, I still a bit obsessed with M!IK after all. I didn't expect it to have a dub since it's not a very know anime here, but ig Crunchyroll will dub anything.

Varona. it killed off my traditional art kick when i was done with it, but i had fun. i used very faint watercolors for this one just to see how well i'd do with them and pencils together. my favorite part of it is this tree, love how it looked in this WIP pic i took:

The love I hold for Haikaveh being thematically parallel to Nabu Malikata and Deshret is ever abundant and I have Thoughts on it all. I just wish I would ever decide to try and write my thoughts down when I'm in a reasonably awake state to have a shred of sense and not after spending the whole night staying up and pushing myself into sleep depravity.

Anyway, the basic idea is that I think both Kaveh and Alhaitham mirror certain aspects of both gods, but probably are meant to be the happier endings of that type of dynamic/character types. It's not just Kaveh=Nabu Malikata, Alhaitham=Deshret, Alhaitham has certain similarities to Nabu and Kaveh has a lot in common with Deshret (I would even say he is a more narrative foil to Deshret than Alhaitham ever could be). I understand that it's easier to just pick one pair for comparison and be done with it for simplicity's sake, but I'm already neck deep in overthinking, might as well go fully out on it eventually.

Even if I really wanna write this out, I don't know how comprehensive it would be. I make sense to myself, but the moment I try to put anything into concrete words, it suddenly feels like I need to fill in 5 different topics to make any sort of sense and bring the whole conversation to the same page with a common understanding.

Maybe I'll take a nap, that could fix everything.
