really strange how you can be almost at peace with something that happened to you but it will continue to be a defining moment of your life for the rest of your life. you wont think about it much anymore but in a conversation about a film someone will mention the year it was released and you’ll think to yourself, “that was before it happened” and you’ll see an old photo and think how strange it is to have existed before it happened and somehow it’s like living a life in two acts

still constantly rotating the 'mithrun is like if kabrus poor treatment of himself in pursuit of a single all consuming goal was taken to an extreme/its logical conclusion' thing i cant remember if it was from a specific post or not but it compels me. like kabru spending more time with him and maybe being forced to reckon with the fact that even while hes chiding mithrun for not eating or resting properly he himself is pretty bad at keeping up with that. & maybe mithrun seeing glimpses of his pre dungeon lord self in kabru in turn with all the fronts he puts up to please people. important part of the kbms dynamic to me. get tricked into forgiving/caring for yourself by seeing echos of yourself in the person you love idiottttttt 🔨

in my mind the kabumisu dynamic works out like kabru keeps his living space a mess -> mithrun tries to clean up a bit to do something nice for him -> mithrun gets fatigued before he can finish -> kabru notices and helps him complete whatever housework task he started. rinse and repeat. so in a round about way kabru does start taking care of his space better. thank you for coming to my ted talk

thinking about the parallel imagery of kabru butchering the barometz and kabru butchering mithrun's backstory and how evocative it is of who he is at his core, and what he'll do so casually and readily out of love. his willingness to do the dirty work for someone else, out of love and care and consideration for them—as a show of his love for them. his presentation of what should be consumed or processed (after having labored over hacking and trimming and cutting away everything from the fat to the auxiliary or gristly bits) to mithrun, practically on a silver platter. his act of reciprocal intimacy being to put himself elbows-deep in the flesh and blood of it all, all in order to protect and care for what he has been both entrusted (mithrun) and trusted with (mithrun’s backstory), and all to keep that intimacy that was shared with him from being taken or twisted or compromised.
