Okay I saw some tags and am taking this opportunity to talk a little more about this lol
This is just off the top of my head, but here’s a little backstory. The original five-stage model comes from On Death and Dying by Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, but her book was based on work with terminally ill individuals. A lot of people criticize the model because it suggests that grief is linear and that you move through it in sequential stages, but I think she even stated before she died that she regretted using the term “stage.” And professionally I think it’s unfortunate because I don’t think her work is necessarily too outdated or incorrect, but the work made it easier to do what humans like to do—categorize and organize emotion and meaning.
If you think about anticipatory grief, however, the stages model makes more sense. All grief is unique and universal. Anticipatory grief with a fairly predictable timeline changes how you move through the stages because you’re trying to make sense and meaning of your experience before the loss, and there’s a defined timeline and certainty that isn’t present for all grief.
Of course there’s no way to break it down into stages, but that’s a bigger discussion about how we deem things “evidence-based” (and my personal belief is that having “evidence-based practices” is often a component of what makes therapy ineffective), but to an extent, it makes sense that there’d be five relatively sequential stages. But then those stages were taken and applied to all different types of grief, so of course it wouldn’t make sense—the situation in front of someone who is terminally ill is wildly different from someone who has experienced a sudden loss. The components of grief she defined are pretty solid, I think—just not sequential.
I personally find this sort of model useful, especially when someone isn’t well-versed in emotional discussions and talking about feelings. And David Kessler, who worked with her and co-authored books with her, still seems to use the five stages with some added stages, like “meaning.” Making meaning of the loss. But we move between stages, skip stages, revisit stages, etc. because grief is never ending. And it’s just unfortunate that the five stages model stuck because that’s no longer the best professional understanding of grief, but it’s still very much a part of our culture. Again, there’s much more to this (this is literally just me pouring all my thoughts out in bed lol) but that’s a little bit of what I was talking about.
i know this is very specific to me being a therapist but god I wish the stages of grief weren’t written into the album storyline this way 😭😭 it’s not her fault people think they’re sequential of course but just thinking about how things get perpetuated in media and the massive influence she has (“in my ___ era” is just… so normal now?) and I can already see the five stages becoming some sort of meme… miss swift I don’t need my job to be any harder
#nerdy fact I’m subscribed to several grief websites#I thought about specializing in grief and still might honestly#also I just feel bad that her name is associated with this#because I’ve read her books and I think she captured important things#just that the terminology blew up#anyway sorry that was a lot lol I get excited to talk about grief#one of my absolute favorite therapists (and yes I am that person who is startstruck by therapists snejdknddl)#specializes in grief and has some good info#her name is Claire Bidwell Smith

SV Mary Poppins-ish AU.
So lots of protagonists and antagonists and etc have tragic backstories. Turns out that this can present something of a logistical nightmare for systems in cases where the stories become "real", because there are many instances where an author overestimated how survivable certain angst-ridden circumstances actually were, and without some kind of intervention, a lot of characters actually don't make it anywhere near their intended power-up and revenge/villain/hero/etc arcs.
In cases where this is happening, the System deploys a special agent to go make sure that plot-crucial characters actually survive to the plot.
Enter Shen Yuan, case worker for tragic backstories. His job, basically, is to sweep in during the points of the backstory where the story isn't paying attention and provide actual care. Most of the time, the system ensures that his clients forget about him when he's no longer present, so he can't impact the plot or their character development. But that also means he gets to be as nice and supportive as he wants to be while he is there.
He hates it, though -- knowing that he has to leave his little charges behind to suffer, and that they'll all forget him, and that some of them will grow up and meet bad ends (because they're villains, or tragic heroes, or doomed mentors, or fridged love interests, or so on). However, he can't beat the system, so he just tries to compartmentalize it. Focus on the here-and-now, steadily accrue points, and get to where he can afford to buy a proper reincarnation.
He works in this fashion for a long time, although it's difficult to keep track of it when the System is constantly bouncing him from relevant backstory moments to pending non-canon catastrophes. Sometimes it's stories he knows, sometimes it's stories he doesn't, or is only peripherally aware of. The first time he arrives in PIDW, he doesn't even figure it out. Partly because it's not backstory info that actually made it into the novel, partly because he has by that point kind of stopped trying to figure out where he's going, and whether or not the cute little kid he's helping is going to get their limbs all chopped off someday.
He likes Xiao Jiu and Yue Qi, but given the sheer number of times he has to go save them from dying and try to comfort them in their misery, he doesn't foresee them meeting good ends.
And then there's Luo Binghe. Treating a baby for hypothermia, helping a lost little orphan reach a faraway mountain on his own, bringing him food and treating his wounds in the woodshed, whisking him away to brief (always so brief) magical escapes to just give his brain a chance to rest and recover from all the grief and struggle, even if he won't actually remember the reprieve. Shen Yuan can't pretend he doesn't know that Luo Binghe's story is going to take him to some rough places, can only console himself with the idea that he'll be able to intervene at the worst of times, and that in the end at least, Binghe will live.
At least, until Shen Yuan realizes who Binghe's scum shizun is after he accidentally crosses paths with Shen Qingqiu, and Xiao Jiu recognizes him. Remembers him.
Then he figures out just what exactly is going to happen, and who it is going to happen to, and suddenly all that compartmentalization fails him.
Nanny Shen goes rogue.

some thoughts and theories on abh so far
Both Raphael and Mikael's touch is said to be cold while David's is hot
If anyone has any theories about who the guys' superiors could be, please share because I have no idea.
I'm 1000% certain that the guys don't really live at the agency.
The mansion possessed a most unusual trait: if its residents weren't actively seeking you out, it was nearly impossible to find them yourself."
Moreover, I think MC was going somewhere and mentioned again that the house was empty.
"Our father went missing. I believe he's dead" - this actually makes me think the father they talk about isn't God.
This could be a red herring but the man who approaches MC at the club could be involved in the murder. His glassy eyes ("but he didn't look drunk") are definitely a hint and his hot-tempered personality make him very suspicious. "He looked around quiclkly," his outfit is rather out of place at this club, he's pushy and insistent. I found some info that glassy eyes could mean lifeless eyes and when you look at this dude, it's.......plausible (kinda kidding, kinda idk. He just looks suspicious)
I believe they all don't truly grasp the concept of emotions. Mikael doesn't really care about the clients + don't understand the concept of grief, David has no empaty for the deceased. Idk about Cas, and Raphael could be the one able to understand emotions (or he's just good at pretending and/or he feels the emotions his interlocutors do)
As for MC - I think the guys had sth to do with her patient going beserk and her ending up at Astrea. It's just a hunch, I don't have any proof, but they obviously need her for something, and I wouldn't be surprised if Mikael already knew she lost her medical licence.
Mikael:
Cheeky if you pay attention - even during the interview in ch 1 he laughs at MC's poor attempt of touching him under a really weak excuse (can't blame her though); "a playful spark flashed in his eyes," "sly smile" so he's not as stuck up as it looks at the first glance lol
Physically: a picture of Renaissance beauty, it is constantly stated he's very graceful and charismatic. MC also says he's very fit and has prominent muscles (which is surprising "for someone in his position); "stately figure"; statue chiseled out of marble".
He's Not a doctor, but yet heals. In ch. 4 he 1000% sucked the poison out of MC body, and I believe so not only because of what he says but also from the way his eyes look. He also says "I've never had a chance to heal mental wounds" which implies he's been healing for a long time.
David:
Could be far reaching and I formulate this theory mainly because I've been watching too much Supernatural lately, but I believe he's some type of a demon.
He's very confident and he "never loses" as a lawyer, so he's either very very good or able to influence people somehow.
MC obviously didn't end up in Astrea by accident, and she's the MC so she must be somehow special, so it makes me think David constantly calling her a witch isn't without a reason. Ch. 3: "don't admit to anyone in the village that you're a witch, either." Could be just a joke though.
Also the fact he was extremely friendly towards MC is suspicious, almost as if he tried to influence her to stay at all cost.
"It's impossible to get enough of me"
After the murder: "he's like a doctor who has seen death so many times that he hardly feels it anymore"
We learn his father lost his mind because he sold his soul. I've yet to come to any conclusions on this ngl.
Raphael:
I think he takes people's emotions onto himself and makes emotions come to the surface in people. Ch. 3: "Raphael approched the man, and the man's eyes filled with tears."
General:
Felonia emphasising that the guys treat MC differently, kindly and friendly. During the meeting in chapter 3, Mikael is cold and impartial when he talks to Fel
David: "You're so hash, Mikael"
"Only constant effort can attract his attention and make him believe that you deserve another chance" so the question is - who's he?
Felonia: "They're not villains, but they're not exactly heroes either. They have a mission and will go to any lengths necessary to complete it"
Mikael knows about the nightmares MC has and the dream we saw at the beginning of the book is definitely an answer to one of the big mysteries of the book, imo we'll learn what it means at the end of season 1 and it'll be the first supernatural thing we witness (although I'm not entirely sure because of how the last chapter ended)
Mikael: "Everyone's terribly worried about you" - why? They're not that close. They're worried because she's crucial to their plan.
My take is that Raph and Mikael are (arch)angels. Possibly fallen angels or at least angels who fucked up and are being punished. I'm not sure about Raphael, but if Mikael is the Angel Michael then he's the God's commander - his strict, controlled character, the fact he's the director of the agency then it kind of makes sense he;s so harsh to Felonia who seems to have seriously fucked up? He doesn't like disobedience.
Quora (don't judge me lol): "His power is believed to come from his closeness to God and his unwavering commitment to righteousness and the defeat of evil."
"The sword and shield are used today to represent a cutting of cords or energies that no longer serve and protecting us from harm. Michael can help in healing and repairing our energies where trauma, grief, past lives or karmic debts are holding us back from our true potential in this life. He will then work with Archangel Raphael to replace the negative energy, emotions, worries, doubts, physical ailments with positive vibrations. Michael will cleanse your entire being both the physical and spiritual."
@agattthaa mentioned that God is kind only to humans, he's not a good father to angels because he isn't present or forgiving to them; God forgives humans, but when angels make mistakes they fall from grace. Just a food for thought.
I'm curious about others' thoughts and theories. I just wanted to put all this together to sort it in my head as well.

ok so i beat dragon age: the veilguard 🐉⚡💥 here is my report 📰‼️
tl;dr: i really enjoyed it as a player with zero context for the dragon age franchise! additionally, i saw a reddit comment that said something like: "where bg3 revels in its complexity, da4 revels in its simplicity," and i am inclined to agree 👍
minor spoilers ahead! i don't go into specifics about the plot, characters, and romances—but if you're trying to avoid any info at all, do not click in!!!
alrighty so first off, some basic details about my rook:
her name is honoria "rook" ingellvar, and she's an elven member of the mourn watcher! as a warrior with the reaper specialization, she primarily relies on sword-and-shield combat, alternating between bashing enemies up close and tossing her shield from afar 🥏
i really liked playing a mourn watcher! my rook was able to offer more nuanced advice in scenes discussing death, grief, and funerary rites which was really interesting and meaningful to me personally. it's going to be hard for any other backgrounds to compete with this one for me!!
the party 👥
also, the character customization was really nice :') i tried to make my character an elfish version of myself, and honestly it was really nice to see my short (lol 🧍🏻♀️ height slider in the negatives HAHA) asian elf girlie running around the screen with ANOTHER asian elf girlie (bellara)!!! the kinship was nice :')
i do like that my rook has a set background and general demeanor too! she felt very much a part of the world/story and it was cool to hear NPCs acknowledge her background 😯 there was even one point where a character had a line based on my rook's lineage (elf) AND background (mourn watcher), it was crazy!!!!!
my team went heavy on necrotic damage, HAHA >:) that's what happens when your team is composed of two mourn watchers ig haha
lucanis is my morally dubious boyfriend w wings and schizophrenia and emmrich is my ethical necromancer peepaw 🥰 yay 🩷
i chose all the necrotic/necrosis-focused abilities and gears for the team; i don't know if it was "optimized" or not, but we were slicing through enemies like butter by the end (on storyteller mode, LOL)
i romanced lucanis and... man... he got me good, not going to lie, i'm somewhat possibly a bit madly in love... i've seen some ppl express disappointment with his romance (most criticism found it lacking, too minimal, etc) but i actually like that it's more of a slowburn subplot—poor dude has been through a lot and it makes sense that he's not exactly rushing to make out with Team Leader LOL
i didn't really swap around my party, so i was just listening to lucanis and emmrich's banters with one another, but they challenged one another's moralities/worldviews in interesting ways!! (they were also incredibly snobby, there were a few moments where i audibly groaned, LOL 😭✋) overall, there was definitely a lot more environmental banter in da4 than in bg3. i like that a lot and it made the team generally feel close to both my rook and to one another!
the playstyle 💥
i feel like the best comparison for this game is like... little big planet and the lego wii games LOL (i am not the world's hugest gamer so this is my point of comparison haha)
in the sense that you're unlocking and learning abilities/tools as you go (very lbp3), the "open" maps are really just corridors (lego/lbp), you're collecting treasure (lego), you're spamming buttons in combat (lego), there's a decent amount of emphasis on puzzles (lbp)... etc etc...
it's all very streamlined, from how you navigate the world to how you get gear to how you fight 🤔 so there's not as much complexity or creativity as in bg3, but i don't think that's a bad thing! i like the challenge of tactical combat and learning all the spells and when to use them (bg3), but it was nice to be able to pick up da4 and understand what i was doing within the first 20hrs HAHA (i don't think i mastered bg3 until i had 150hrs under my belt 💀)
also i like sprinting and leaping over things in my sick flowy armor and long elf hair 🩷 she is so graceful 🩷
it was also really, really nice to play and encounter ZERO bugs :'D again, i think this is a result of the game being fairly simple and straightforward, but also EA being a massive company lol
the story 📝
ok, necessary disclaimer that this is my first DA game so i don't know any of the lore!! ;;
BUT i do like that the lore was so easy to pick up! the writing team did a good job of introducing concepts, it never felt overwhelming and i didn't have to wiki/google anything to understand it 🫨
that being said, the overall plot was also very simple, LOL—two BBEGs with minions try to take over the world by corrupting it with a fantasy monstrosity, lol, where have i heard that before haha...
final remarks 🗣️
BUT the companion subplots were quite good!! the tension between tradition/past and "progress"/future (and the fact that there is such a binary! 👀) that can be found in all their stories was really interesting and i liked how many meaningful spins they were able to get out of that tension!!! i feel like there's so much to say, but i will refrain as to avoid too many spoilers haha
i will also say that the ending was a little abrupt 😅 but it was nice overall and i miss my rook already ;;
dragons are scary 😭
storyteller mode was too easy and now i need to try underdog haha 🐶
i've already started a second playthrough as a human grey warden mage >:) she will romance davrin 😁
bellara really grew on me and honestly she is literally just like me fr!!!!!
i'm really going to miss being a mourn watcher 😭
...i need to play da:o expeditiously tbh

rvb for the hyperfix ask!
📃 what is the plot of your hyperfixation? and is it a movie, game, show, etc? 📌 how did you find your hyperfixation? ✨ what draws you towards your hyperfixation? what is interesting about it? 🎥 do you have any favorite scenes from your hyperfixation? 💕tell us about one of your favorite characters and why you like them!
First of all, thank you for indulging me in this, I very much appreciate the chance to info-dump with my nonsense, you are a wonderful person~
So... RVB. More than 2 decades ago, some guys figured out how they could play Halo, sort of use one character as the "camera", make the other characters bop their helmets up and down, then dub their voices into it and make that a show. There is the vague background-plot of the actual Halo lore happening, but the ACTUAL plot of RVB? The first few seasons are just 2 groups of guys, standing around, talking, arguing, and trying to kill each other. Red Team has been told to kill the Blues, and Blue Team has been told to kill the Reds. Why? Because. One guy dies, but comes back as a "ghost". This will become a pattern. There is a theme through the series about how some people are unable to let go of grief, and it eventually destroys them, the message of learning how to see enemies as real people, learning to accept flaws in yourself and others so they can become strengths. Over and over again, there are multiple groups of soldiers who have been told "you are the good guys, they are the bad guys, you need to kill them", and sometimes the most difficult thing is to finally accept the truth and try to live with yourself. There are highly advanced and unique AI, once all part of one system together, forced into being singular Fragments, tortured into forgetting what they were, but unable to stop missing what they don't have. Despite being data and treated like tools, they develop their own "humanity"... for better, and for worse. Through it all, the same group of Red and Blue goobers keep talking and arguing. They win against highly trained special agents with incredibly advanced equipment, vicious mercenaries with back-up from a corrupt military group, and a reality-breaking "god". These clowns even got their own circus music (the Warthog Polka)
Waaaaay back in the day, when I was like... 15? A friend of mine had a brother, who had a friend, who let him borrow some DVDs of Red VS Blue, and I watched it at the friend's house. I had never played Halo (still haven't), but I got a chuckle out of it. I occasionally watched it when another friend would pull it up on their computer, and for a while, that was it... in 2021, I randomly thought to myself "Oh yeah... Red VS Blue was a thing". I hadn't thought about it for a decade. So I decided to watch it up to the point I remembered, somewhere in season 5. Some of the jokes... did not age well, but it was a nice little stroll down memory lane. Then I realized they made MORE after that. This show, at that time, had 18 seasons. So I kept watching, and now it has FILLED UP MY BRAIN
There is this fun aspect of very casual, conversational dialogue in the middle of absolutely bonkers situations. The characters will be doing the most extreme, dangerous sci-fi nonsense, and they still just bicker and chit-chat like regular dudes. It will also randomly sneak up, and hit you with EMOTIONS. There are incredibly sweet and sad moments, and others that have no business being so IMPACTFUL and MEANINGFUL, but they are. The characters are all so stupid, yet full of potential and depth, everybody is just perfect fuel for imagination
I have a few favorite scenes! In the episode "Long Time No See", the characters Epsilon and Carolina are shown working together, gathering information on a shady organization. In the middle of this, they are threatened by a group of security soldiers, and we get see how Epsilon, as an AI with the memories of the other Fragments, can assist Carolina; time slows down as the AI work at bullet-speed, with Epsilon running calculations, making a plan for how Carolina can fight back and escape. The memories of the Fragments can interact with Epsilon, and give suggestions or feedback based on their skills. It is just so AWESOME to see how far the characters have come, the teamwork they share... and it is also a little bitter-sweet, because seeing the Fragments like this is how it could have (should have) been with Alpha. It also shows Carolina, who was once determined not to get close to anybody again (after losing so many people she cared about), has really bonded with Epsilon, and it helps her realize she misses the rest of the clowns. Another favorite scene has some background context; the intro to the series, the very first scene of the very first episode, is Grif and Simmons having a conversation- "Do you ever wonder why we're here?" "It's one of life's great mysteries". As the show goes on, that becomes a reoccurring conversation, sometimes as a joke, sometimes as something more relevant. In season 15, the main characters meet another group of Blues and Reds, who all resemble them in some way, but are also kind of "mirror opposites". The characters have the same armor color, but different voice actors... except for Simmons. His look-alike is Gene, and they have the same VA (Simmons insists they don't sound similar at ALL, Gene is totally annoying). When it is revealed this group is EVIL, there is a moment when we see one soldier in maroon armor pull a knife and attempt to stab another soldier in maroon armor. This is Simmons and Gene, but which is which? Grif arrives, and has that same problem. Both Gene/Simmons insist "I'm the real Simmons, shoot him"... so Grif asks- "Why are we here?". One maroon soldier says they're here to stop the bad guys. The other one says "We don't know why we're here. It's still one of life's great mysteries". HECK YEAH, THAT'S YOUR SIMMONS. There are like a thousand other moments I like that are pure comedy, but those are the big emotional moments
I've rambled about Grif and Simmons a stupid amount, I've also gone on long tangents for Church and Tex, so I'll talk about one of my other favorites, Tucker! In the beginning, he doesn't take any of this seriously (but who does). He's there to be an annoying, shameless flirt, and does so with ease. The thing is, even when he's acting obnoxious and immature, there are moments when you can tell he's actually capable of a LOT. He's smart, when he lets himself think without getting distracted, he's a strong fighter when he's not showing off, and he's genuinely got a good heart (when he's not complaining). As the show goes on, he becomes more important... whether he likes it or not. What do you do when all your big-talk about being the coolest dude ever turns out to be TRUE, but that also means you're responsible for keeping people alive? Tucker also easily fits into any combination of characters, whoever he is with, they get a fun dynamic going (even Sarge, the Red who claims to hate the Blues with an endless burning passion, will do some back-up beat-boxing for Tucker when he sings a taunting song at mutual enemies). He'll tease the others and be a little jerk, but is also incredibly protective of the people he cares about. Tucker once got attacked by a space alien that left a parasite baby in him, and years later, he carries around pictures of Junior in his wallet so he can show off how much he loves his son. Tucker is incredibly clever, and has a lot of emotional depth... he just wishes he didn't have to worry so much, all he wants is to stand around and talk to his best friend. Through all the bravado, the insecurities, and the bow-chicka-wow-wow jokes, Tucker is just very interesting AND entertaining~ (also, thanks to one off-hand comment another character made about his "metro-sexual good looks", all the fans kind of just agreed that under the helmet, Tucker is the prettiest)
Thanks for asking! (and sorry for rambling so much haha)

𖡼.𖤣𖥧 𝑒𝑛𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑙𝑦 , a private blog for valentine "allie" fleur, an original character set in city of ruin. written by rora, 23, she/her pronouns.
˗ˏˋ (wip) carrd with more allie info than one can ever need, pinterest. ˎˊ˗
name. valentine “allie” fleur. occupation. part time employee at Tūmatarau Apothecary + 205 Drive-In. age. 21. sexuality. biromantic, bisexual + polyamorous. species. witch; half-ancestral, half-human. coven? none (for now...). hometown. clausste, oregon. relationship status. single. personality traits. kind, caring, affectionate, charismatic, gentle, hopeful, optimistic, enthusiastic, gullible, insecure, clingy, naive, dependent on others, lonely, bubbly, talkative, ditzy, people-pleasing, curious.
+ bonus things that are important to me: loves plants and nature and animals, is very sparkly (both metaphorically and physically (not in a twilight way she just loves glitter)), prey animal coded beyond belief, on her main blog is half fairy instead of witch (so that's why she gives that vibe), cottagecore princess, would die for anyone that held her the right way + more tba.
allie deals heavily and only in the land of the living. she has intentions to befriend and care for every living thing on this good green earth. she calls herself a "green witch", which does not mean anything officially or specifically, to her, it's just what she calls herself. she has never received any great training for being a witch, or any training beyond what her mother told her -which was purposefully limited and withholding most truth about allie's identity or power. as her mother came from a long line of well-trained and educated witches, allie has a lot of potential that has gone unpracticed.
allie's mother specialized in potions and plants- many of which were used against allie when she was very young, providing several physical long-term consequences -, so allie has much extensive knowledge about these things.
one of her specialities is the ability to make living things flourish. this ability is most practiced with plants, the easiest level, even when bringing them from the brink of death. less practiced and harder is animals, and then humans.
because of her limited ability in other areas of witchcraft, allie is especially sensitive to magical and supernatural sensations. she will never know exactly what species someone is, or what their magic is, but each supernatural individual carries their own feeling(most similar to an aura) and allie often calls this 'special' and why she feels magnetized to some individuals over others.
she may or may not be actually able to talk to animals and plants, but she does have a deep enough connection to them through magic that she can communicate with them on some level that they can understand.
short version/tdlr for some the potential triggers of child neglect, maltreatment, and mental abuse: allie is a witch focused on the natural world, raised by her mother with the same focus. her mother is very neglectful and manipulative, putting allie in dangerous and inappropriate situations for her young age as well as erasing negative memories with memory loss potions. (she also uses potions to erase fatigue, hunger, sickness, and sleeping potions on her young daughter since infancy. allie is not aware of this presently.) with no present parental figure to show her right from wrong, as well as an effect from trauma, allie is frequently manipulated and keeps an innocent naivety throughout all ages. after her mother permanently leaves when allie is 14, she uses risky and illegal behavior as a clutch to distract herself from the grief, and is hopeful (and delusional) that her mother will return to her even 6+ years later. after she graduates high school, she wanders from town to town in search of anything that can make her stay and eventually finds port leiry because of the strong supernatural energy that pulls her there. she is a newcomer of all of one or two days. / full carrd is linked for All the allie info. please disregard the fae mentions that is her default state, you can replace them with witch in your mind for me <3 also always feel free to ask questions!
born into a secluded cottage in the woods, allie had always known the art of green witchery. she'd lived amongst the trees and the world of all living things, breathing in the magic there, singing the song of the wind. she made friends with the plants and animals, played games in the forest, talking to the natural world like she might a playmate. it had always kept her safe, and she tended to what she could with her little hands. bad things don't happen here. not all the time. allie only fell down a well once, because she's clumsy, and it was her fault. three and she can't swim and she was so, so very scared but it's her fault. it's just how it is.
things are like that. it's just how it is. but she's a witch! how could she ever be sad? her mother- oh, her mother -furthered this growth with step stools up to the kitchen counter, watching her pour potions with names she couldn't say, smelling things so poignant it would send her spinning with dizziness. magic. she knew it. she couldn't wait to blossom into her own. her mother told her stories about witches, about the secret family allie was never allowed to see. but she knew the stories, embedded them deep into her mind. she just didn't understand. witches were supposed to have covens, have families, where was hers? it was just her and mom, forever and always. she was selfish for thinking otherwise. silly, stupid. why couldn't she just be happy here? it always made allie quiet and her mother ... mean wasn't right, mom said so. she wasn't being mean, but it hurt.
mom liked her better quiet. allie learned that fast. mom didn't like when she asked so many questions while she was working, so allie was quiet and nice and pretty. she could dress herself, and braid her own hair, and cook her own food, and hold up her whole age on one hand. be a big girl, allie means mom's going away for awhile. she does that a lot now. but it's okay! because allie has the woods, and she doesn't remember much of her alone time. she just waits for her mom, and tries so hard to remember to do the big girl things that moms do for little kids. but allie doesn't need it, because she's just fine on her own.
allie wanders too far away from home when mom's gone, and she finds kids. real ones, human ones, they're not as different as mom says. they like her. they smile at her. they talk about things like school and allie wants to go to school. so she goes, and nobody tells her no or asks questions. mom doesn't ask about school, not for years. allie tries to remember, even when she starts to give her potions that make her head goes all fuzzy, she tries to remember just in case, but she gets really, really bad at it. she tries to remember everything about mom because she's never home anymore. there's different kinds of school. elementary, and then middle, and then just before high school was when things changed. her mother left. bid her goodbye before allie's first day of high school with warning to not have children, they ruin your life. but she had to come back. all on her own, even with school friends who looked out for her, allie was fourteen and there was plenty of time to get into trouble. she just wanted someone to love her, and all her mother ever taught her to do was grow up.
boyfriend after boyfriend and words like he's taking advantage of you, and drugs and you're just hookup material, not girlfriend material, and drinking and then she was eighteen. grown up and graduated. her memory got worse and she missed her mother and she just had to go. just like mom did. being a witch didn't matter, because she was all alone. she just wandered, for years. wandering from town-to-town, anywhere that wanted her, setting up loosely placed roots just to abandon them when they fell flat. she just had to go, she couldn't stay. now, twenty one, nowhere to really go but home. yet all the wandering leads her port leiry, a strong pull reminiscent to the one she feels to her magic-ridden cottage in the woods. but this pull is times a thousand. there are gardens to tend and people to meet and adventures to be had, she just has to learn how to live, and how to stay.
flings - flirty friendships, lil situationships, anything. she’s a lover girl, but will absolutely settle just to keep someone in her life.
grumpy/sunshine dynamics - right off the bat i must declare how much of a sucker i am for this trope especially with allie. you can call her sunshine even if you are not grumpy.
witch friends - !!! never had a coven before!!!! never!!! and had always heard of them. she thinks she's defective she just needs to be taken under some wings :(
just in general come show her around. i write her as a newcomer, as in, Right Now came to port leiry. she's incredibly friendly, no biting at all, she'll be good, pinkie promise.
vampire bait - listen, she's just not immune. she will be your snack.
werewolf friends (???) - she's also not immune but like. listen to me. she wants to give you a little kiss on your snoot and give you a snack idk. come frolic with her.
party/adventure buddies!!! - what it says on the tin, she loves to party. she love to adventure. she's quite silly and quite charming and has had a tendency in the past to get people out of their shell and comfort zone because she's,,,, cute and has 🥺🥺 eyes

Hello! Requesting an info dump.
Can you give me a general overview of the setting for age of sigmaur?
Ok, so I’m not the most well versed in this but I’ll try.
We need to start in the old world aka the warhammer fantasy.
So you have the skaven who are evil rats who worship the great horned rat and use warp stone for almost everything from machines to making flesh abominations.
One day they decide to take over the world because they hate everyone (and probably for other reasons), and this is called vermintide.
During vermintide they blow up the moon and everything goes to shit and the world ends.
After all this the realms sort of reform I guess (I don’t know anything about the forming on the realms) but some powerful figures survive the old world and go on to shape the world I think (these include Sigmar and Nagash who became gods as well as arkhan the black who went on to be one of nagash’s mortarchs)
From here the realms were formed with their different realmstones, of which there are:
Shysh, realm of death with its gravesand.
Azyr, realm of heavens with its celestium
Hysh, realm of light with its aetherstone
Ulgu, realm of shadows with its falsestone
Ghur, realm of beasts with its amberstone
Aqshy, realm of fire with its emberstone
Chamon, realm of metal with its chamonite
Ghyran, realm of life with its cyclestone
Connecting all of these are realmgates which are scattered across the lands and connect from one realm to another. There are some special realmgates, known as all-gates, to a place called the eightpoints, which has its own realmstone called varanite.
There is also the realms of chaos which I don’t understand too much which has warpstone.
Each realm has unique properties and things such as the nadir of Shysh (result of Nagash fucking around and finding out) and some interact with others.
There’s also the aetheric void which I am only aware of.
I’ll also explain the gist of all of the armies.
Stormcast externals are the poster boys of AoS (age of Sigmar) and are the personal enforcers of Sigmars will, made from the souls of fallen champions and lightning.
Cities of Sigmar is just the generic boring people.
Lumineth are stupid fucking high aelves.
Idoneth deepkin are an interesting lot though. Tormented by slaanesh, they hid in the oceans and stole souls from beneath nagash (god of death)‘s nose to keep themselves alive until the skaven drained all the water from where they were hiding and Nagash found out where all those souls went (he was not happy)
Syvaneth are wood aelves.
Seraphon are an ancient race of lizardfolk and frog dudes who are theorised to have created the realmgates but are a fraction of their former glory.
Fyreslayers are fire dwarves
Kharadon overlords are dwarves who discovered a very floaty gas and are now airborne.
Daughters of Khaine are murder aelves and medusae.
These are all in one big alliance and are the order factions.
Then there’s the death factions which are very fun.
Soulblight gravelords are generic vampires and also general undead with zombies and skeletons. ( most boring one). They also have the mortarchs of night and blood.
The flesheater courts are a group of nobles led by Ushoran who loves Nagash and caused his noble followers and their knight and serfs to go become delusional and view the world as though they are being very good people while devouring a family of 4. Many kill themselves if they are freed from their curse of delusion. Ushoran is the mortarch of delusion.
Then there’s the nighthaunt who are an army of ghosts with cruel punishments, such as blinded assassins who will never know who they kill, or the souls of the drowned, stuck in their last moments of flailing forever as they madly swing their swords. They are led by Lady Olynder, mortarch of grief.
Finally for death, the ossiarch bonereapers (my army). Using sorceries to shape bones and the ideal parts of souls (eg, a knights swordsmanship) trapped in gems made of Grave sand from their home realm of Shysh Nagash forged the ossiarch legions. During the peacetime when the pantheon of gods (Sigmar, Nagash, Khaine and others) were all chill, Nagash built cities for his allies, but underneath were vaults containing sealed legions of the ossiarchs to be deployed should they turn on Nagash. Their weapons are forged from nadirite, a material found around the Nadir that Nagash made on accident while trying to do something, I forgot what exactly but that also created endless spells and some other shit, anyways, nadirite can sap the soul of its victims as it strikes making it a very powerful weapon. Anyways, Sigmar was a bitch and turned on Nagash and started stealing his souls for his stormcast bitches so Nagash unleashed the ossiarchs, and their leaders, Arkhan the black, mortarch of sacrament, and katakros, mortarch of the necropolis. Katakros served Nagash in life and his soul continued after death. His will was so powerful, Sigmar had to seal him in a vault to keep him from wreaking havoc with his amazing skill and intellect (yes I’m hyping him up he’s cool), and he was then saved by Lady Olynder. He’s considered a demigod of war tho he’s cool af. Anyways, Nagash unleashed his prized creations upon the world who quickly started expanding due to coming up from within cities, however not everyone got the wake-up call so sometimes the legions have to be freed. Anyways, they posses tactics that are unusual for the dead, such as letting settler groups build a settlement in their territory before using it as essentially a bone farm and forcing a tithe upon all occupied settlements and bordering regions. These are used to make more and more ossiarchs. Also, the bone they’re made from are very important, as during the age of beasts (previous period of time) the beasts of Ghur were powered up by realmstone in their bones which caused some legions to go mad and become violent and dangerous due to their more durable bones, but the ivory host (legion) figured out how to stop it. That’s all for the ossiarchs, they’re my favorite c:
Next we have the destruction armies who all worship an aspect of Gorkamorka (sometimes 2 separate entities of Gork and Mork which may be familiar for 40K fans).
The Gloomspite gitz worship the Bad Moon, a moon of which it is said gorkamorka took a bite out of (stories vary due to goblin shit) which retains some of its power. It’s presence empowers the gitz to a fiendish frenzy and causes them to go into a git WAAAAAAGGGHHHHHH (a form of war waged by gitz, orks and orruks where they’re whipped up into a frenzy) where instead of becomeing violent maniacs they begin spiteful tricks and ploys. There’s also the spider fangs and spider god but I don’t know too much about that. They’re also always tripping their minds out on shrooms, and don’t ask what the loonking’a staff does, trust me, it’s fucked up.
Then there’s the orruk warclans. I don’t know them well.
Then there’s the ogor mawtribes which you may recognise from old world/fantasy. They worship the great maw which I can’t remember the origin but is thought to be Gorkamorka related. They show support by eating as much as possible and getting fat as well as making sacrifices of food to the great maw. The ogors hunger makes them violent and brutish but also considerably fast. Ask my friend @ogor-tyrant if you want to know more.
Then there’s the sons of Behemat. I don’t know anything about them either aside from that they’re mercenaries and also giants.
Finally, we have chaos. I’ll only really cover skaven because the others are already explained enough but I’ll give a brief overview. Even then I don’t know much about skaven.
Blades of Khorne are worshippers of Khorne, the god of blood, war and skulls. They REALLY hate sorcery. Their number is 8
Disciples of Tzeench, worship Tzeench, god of trickery and magic and definitely the smartest of the gods who totally knew what they were doing when they chucked one of their best servants into a giant magic hole and totally won’t turn you into a chaos spawn for funsies. They REALLY love sorceries. Their number is 9
Maggotkin of nurgle, worship nurgle, god of plagues and disease, very chill guys actually (except festus, stay away from festus). Their magic is magical plagues. Their number is 7
Hedonites of slaanesh, worship Slaanesh, horiest god and god of excess. I really fucking hate Slaanesh, fucking bitch. Not even gonna say the number cuz I fucking hate them so much (/silly)
Skaven, worshipers of the great horned rats. They snort their realmstone (warpstone) and are the most advanced race aside from the dwarves using warpstone for everything. They have their own unique way of speak-talk (example) and are very silly guys whose abilities regularly involve killing themselves for more buffs. Best number of any chaos god with 13 (chaos god’s numbers are used for things like aura effects as well as other silly things like lore so bigger number is better but it’s like how 666 is the devils number or something I’m not religious). They’re split into clans, the general masterclan (basic and generic), clan Eshin which is sneaky assassins, clan skyre who make the mechanical machinery, clan moldur who makes the flesh abominations, clan verminus who are the war wagers and very violent and clan pestilens who like to be nasty and spread plagues (good friends of nurgle).
There’s also slaves to darkness. They’re the neutral chaos faction. No number because they’re neutral.
Beast men are going to cease to exist and I don’t know anything about them but rip to the beast men players
That’s all I can really remember, I may have misremembered in some areas and I’m not the most well versed in the lore of factions my friends don’t play. Thanks for the opportunity to infodump!!!
If anyone else reading this has any corrections feel free to mention them and I’ll rectify them.

Pale Live Read Part 1. Blood Runs Cold + Brochure
Just finished the prologue plus brochure thing of Pale, and these were my thoughts. I kind of took screenshots of bits that stuck out to me as I read then am going back over those in chronological order as I write this. Also, gonna do bullet points for now because I think they're convenient and an easy way to structure this, but I'm open to suggestions. Beware of spoilers for Pact ahead if you havent read it, because I love it a lot and this is set in the same universe, so I assume knowledge of it is going to affect my reading of Pale.
I'm immediately a big fan of Louise. Very relatable to me, I too am frequently unsure if I've taken my meds. She just like me frfr.
Gonna go ahead and predict the moon bleeding isn't good. But this is the Carmine Beast thing I've heard other people mention in relation to Pale right? Also I love the way he described the bleeding moon here.
The Otherverse/the stories set in it are maybe so compelling to me because I too come from a fucked up small town? Like Jacob's Bell and Kennet aren't special, small towns are just like that actually. The way everybody knows everybody's family even if they don't know the individual person is so accurate. I'd be surprised if Wildebeest wasn't from a place like this tbh.
So are the chimpanzee shaped things Goblins? Actual hallucinations? Something else? My money is on goblins because we did see one in Pact fucking with a chronically ill girl so it would be in character for them to pretend to be a dying woman's hallucinations.
Louise would be a great practitioner. She very skillfully has omitted key info about what she's doing in her convo with Lincoln.
The grief she feels when this thing disappears is so palpable, and no one around her shares it, no one even realizes it happened. Idk I think it really captures the feeling of being alone with your loss in just that tiny section.
Okay so at least two practitioners are here now, along with what I'm certain is a humanoid other with a messed up face. Like her face was hidden three times, which matters in this universe. Then there are some kids?
It sounds like something has gone wrong with the Carmine Beast, and these people are trying to deal with it, but don't want the outside influence of what I assume is the lord or council members of a nearby city.
Is this theoretical nearby city Toronto? That's kind of what I'm hoping for. I'm curious what happened to the Astrologer, the Elder Sister, Paige, Fell's niece, and Jeremy. Like I assume the Eye is still just hanging out, and the shepherd is obviously not in the picture, so those five are the ones I have questions about. Isadora is presumably dead based on what the demons said, but what's Paige up to? She was drawing power from Isadora while fighting vestiges, so can she still do that? The Astrologer was nice and I want good things for her. How's tending to his former demesne going for Jeremy? Have the Sisters managed to keep lordship? (I'm gonna guess no since I assume their clout took a big hit after abandoning the fight in Jacob's Bell) How's Fell's niece's training going? Tbh she's the one I think is most likely to appear in Pale out of this group, but I want answers about all of them.
The little notepad thing in the brochure is like a shopping list for an Awakening right? Whoever L, V, and A are, they're gonna try awakening at 5:30. The knife, the thread, the time piece, the skull, and the coin all being doodled on there along with wine and stuff (presumably to offer the spirits) make it basically impossible to imagine it's anything else
It being in a brochure also makes me think these three are new to town.
#sorry in advance to the mutuals for doing this#pls feel free to block the 'pale live read' tag#pale live read#pale web serial#pale wildbow#wildbow

Dear Quality,
I found myself thinking of you today! Everything going good for you lately?
I actually prefer to write to people anonymously under emojis (-🛵🌻 etc.), but I'm starting to think that it's not really necessary. I just love the vibe of being a secret, ykyk? There are questions I would like to ask to get to know you better. If you don't mind answering, I will try to write to you more often and keep your inbox busy. However, if I do not, know that I must be studying. 😪 I would be happy if you could also let me know what type of questions you don't want to be asked about so that I don't overstep any boundaries unknowingly.
I thought you might like this question. Here is the question I wish to ask you today:
What do you like about Fyodor? Since you said you will write mostly about Fyodor, I am assuming that he is your favorite character as well. What makes his character so fascinating for you? I would like to know why, in your own words and thoughts. Feel free to write as you like.
Have a lovely day and take care of yourself! 🤍
Dear Berry, (Can I call you that?)
Hello! Good day (or night), and all the lovely greetings that exist on Earth. Lately, I’ve been doing surprisingly well. I’m happy Christmas is around the corner, so I can give gifts to my loved ones. :> Today, I decorated the tree with my little brother, played outlast trials and bought some gifts for my Secret Santa at uni
I had a feeling you were 🛵🌻-anon! I’m glad you confirmed it, and I’m so happy you’re feeling more comfortable. <3 It makes me proud to know that I’ve created a space where you can push past your anxieties (that I think most of us have) and just exist in this corner of the internet. I completely understand your love for the anonymity; it’s liberating in a world where everyone’s eyes are on you
I might be totally wrong in what I’ve said, though—sorry if I read too much into it! oof—
I absolutely love getting questions, though! I was actually thinking about making an introduction post soon, where I share some general info about myself, my blog’s dos and don’ts, etc. It might make it easier to interact with me, so I’ll probably work on that in the near future
Generally, my ask box is open to most things—questions about BSD or anything else: my hobbies, music, philosophy, poetry, animals, fashion… really, anything as long as it’s respectful and doesn’t try to stir up drama or bring in politics. I try to keep things SFW, though I don’t mind NSFW content (I’ve written about cults and brainwashing, so it’d be hypocritical of me to mid it). If I don’t respond to something, it’s either because it made me uncomfortable or doesn’t feel relevant to my blog. I do like to communicate, though, so if something ever bothers me, I’m ready to type it out and vent. (I promise I’ll try to keep it funny! /j) I will probably include this a second time in my introduction post
---
Now, prepare THE ramble:
There are many characters in BSD that I cherish, like Atsushi, Louisa, Nikolai, Sigma, and Ango, to name a few. But you’re right—Fyodor holds a special place in my heart. His complexity makes him my main focus in my writing. I may write about other characters in the future (I have drafts sitting on my PC collecting digital dust, poor things), but Fyodor’s nature is just so fascinating and so fun to write for
When I talk about Fyodor, I can’t help but also mention Atsushi. I love both of them because they’re two sides of the same coin. They’re both trying to find their place in the world while striving to make it a better place (though their approaches are very different). Atsushi represents what Fyodor was before grief consumed him, and Fyodor represents what Atsushi could become if he succumbs to despair. What I find especially interesting is that Atsushi is, in a way, a part of Fyodor that he buried deep inside himself to achieve his goal—the untapped goodness, the desire to save everyone, the deep empathy and care. I’m sure Fyodor has these traits too, but he’s so consumed by sorrow and grief that he feels the only way to make a real change is to force the world to change
I’ve always loved anti-villains. Just give me a well-written one, and I’ll fall in love. Characters like Undertaker from Kuroshitsuji, Viego from League, and Snape from HP come to mind. Fyodor is similar in that regard. I think what first drew me to him was his gentle, almost otherworldly appearance in the manga (don’t get me started on the anime version; I will not forgive bones for taking my dainty prince away). His presence is soft and delicate, and even though his actions are dark, there’s something about his demeanor that keeps me intrigued
What really hooked me, though, was how misunderstood he is. He’s often portrayed in fanon as cold and calculating, but I think that oversimplifies his character. Sure, he’s serious and sometimes condescending, but there’s so much more to him than that. After rereading the manga and looking at what Asagiri wrote about him, I feel like I’ve discovered a whole new layer of Fyodor
I also love his politeness. Honestly, I just really appreciate politeness in people, and Fyodor’s refinement only adds to his charm (even if his actions don’t exactly match his manners)
Another reason I love him is that I can relate to a lot of his traits: his desire to change the world, his loneliness, his trust issues, his reserved nature, and even his nervous habit of nail-biting when stressed. And I think that’s why I’m so drawn to him: beneath all his guarded behavior, there’s a humanity that’s carefully concealed
sigh—I just want to show him some emotional vulnerability and let him rest, feel safe
---
Know that you matter! Always!
Exam season is coming up for me too, so I totally get the stress. But it's important to remind ourselves that in the grand scheme of things, that exam grade won’t matter in 5 or 10 years. The long nights of stress and anxiety are only going to make us unhealthy. So please, do take care of yourself! (And please don't feel obligated to keep my asks busy) Drink water, eat your comfort food, get the sleep you need (I’ll find you if you don’t), and maybe take a moment to step outside and breathe. Every emotion and feeling is valid, and if things feel overwhelming, try holding an ice cube—it’s helped me more times than I can count
And hey, if you need to talk, my DMs are always open. We can cry together. :))
Sending you kisses and good vibes! Good luck on your exams <3

My friends love to cook and to eat. They love going to different restaurants and trying different foods. It's a huge part of their connection to each other and to the world. It's something that brings them joy and for some of them it's how they connect with and share their culture. But to me, food is just food. They could spend so much time discussing the texture and flavor of each meal together, but I can't answer the simple question "how is it?". It's good I think? It hasn't made me feel sick yet. Thats good. It took me a long time to put into words with them when it felt like they were frustrated that I didn't engage in the discussion of the intricacies of every bite. I told them "you guys experience food, I just eat it. I'm trying to figure out how to do that. I physically can taste it, but I almost immediately forget it after. Food holds a lot of trauma for me and my body doesn't know how to live in the present in general so I just very disconnected from it. But I'm trying"
This has always been true for food. But now the more trauma I go through, it feels true for everything. I don't experience anything. I just do it.
Going to the movies used to affect me so profoundly. I always left the theatre with a change in perspective and with my mind spinning. If I loved a movie I'd think non-stop about it and engage in fandom things. Nothing really feels like that anymore. Now when I see a movie, it ends and I leave the theatre. Thats it.
At concerts I'm in the wheelchair accessible area and its usually seperate from everyone else. Everyone's having fun and I'm away from them all. I try to dance and enjoy it, but for a long time it came with a lot of grief and longing to be able to jump around in the pit again. But now I feel nothing. I don't feel the excitement of seeing even my favorite bands. I just go and then barely remember it.
Musicals used to bring me to tears and now they feel so long.
I used to love lyrics and pour through them on lyric genius reading and seeing what they meant to the artist and to other people. When I was a kid I even used to print them out. When I bought a CD I'd be so excited to read the booklet, hoping the lyrics were there. There are lyrics that would blow my mind and I'd feel so inspired. That's why I'm a songwriter now. But no lyrics can penetrate my brain anymore. They just bounce right off.
My own songs even. After each concert I perform people ask how it felt to finally get to play my own music after I was sick for so long. I don't know. It just happened and then it was over. I thought I'd cry tears of joy if I ever got here, but now I'm here and I can't even feel it.
I used to love making new friends. I wanted to know everything about them. I wanted to hear whatever stories they told. If they had a special interest I wanted to hear them info dump. I wanted to know what their favorite song was and why. I wanted to know what movie, TV, or book character they related to the most so that I could understand them better. I wanted to know what they were like before meeting me. I wanted to support them as they healed from trauma. I used to handwrite every birthday card. I spent so much time making so many cards personal. I wanted to know them and make them feel seen and heard. Now I want to feel seen and heard so badly that I can't see or hear anyone else. I'm never present and I can't seem to listen to anyone. I'm too selfish now. My brain is just screaming "ME ME ME" so now I know nothing about new friends. And for a while I'd dump so much on them when I got a chance to speak. So now I avoid talking about real things and feel very surface level friends with everyone. And that feels safer because it feels wrong to not feel their friendship if its deep & meaningful for them.
And my love feels broken. I feel disconnected in my relationships. When I was younger I wanted to be held and loved loudly. Now physical affection feels so wrong and uncomfortable. I hate it. When someone looks at me with love in their eyes I want run and hide and bury myself alive. It feels like I'm being attacked. Stop stop stop, please stop. And someone complimenting me, especially how I look, especially in public feels insulting. I don't like it.
The magic is gone, nothing feels right. There's not even anything to daydream about because every fantasy just hurts or is boring. I never thought I could take things for granted after all I've been through. I thought I'd be so grateful to have survived. But now I take everything for granted. I don't care. I don't even want to be in my favorite places. Everything just happens. Nothing comes from it and everything feels pointless.
But I continue on. Because when I write my songs, a lot of heavy things come out. I can't feel them right now, but they are there. I'm curious to know this version of me. I'm trying to bring her out of hiding. She's very angry and I was always taught to shut that off. But now everything is off. I don't even feel like I'm real.
But still sometimes when I'm scrolling and see a gentle poem about feelings that I wish I could feel, I don't really *feel* anything but I notice tears in my eyes. Sometimes I see something wholesome and my heart beats again, just once. Maybe twice. Sometimes my puppy licks my face and I catch myself laughing. Sometimes I see my friends and my soul reaches for them. There's a wall, but it's still reaching. I cheer for my girlfriend's accomplishments even though I feel like a zombie and I try to encourage them when they need it. I'm not great at it anymore, but I always try. Which means the desire to support and connect is still there. I go to therapy and I keep creating things. But why? Why would I do that if nothing matters?
I think the fire that used to be in me is still there. It's just very faint right now. And I am trying my best to keep it safe in hopes that someday it'll shine brighter than ever and I'll feel everything, good and bad.
If you've read this far, your fire is probably dim right now too. There are tears in my eyes as I write this specific part, so I think my fire cares about yours. And yours probably cares about mine. Please continue to try to find little ways to fuel it and I will do the same. Keep going. Stay alive please and someday we will live and thrive. Your spark is so special and so important and someday maybe we'll have the biggest, brightest fires this world has ever seen and we can help other to keep their fires burning too and burn down all of the systems that put out our fires and rebuild this world. Or maybe, our fires will be normal sized and we will feel things again and we will save only ourselves and thats just as important.
I wish I could live and this doesn't feel like living. But I will try my best.

SPECIES INFO: Undead
🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦
INFO: If You manage to cheat death herself, you become one with the dead. Of course, this sounds great at first.. but there are some consequences to cheating death.
ANATOMY: There are two main types of Undead. Corporeal and Incorporeal. Which is fancy terms for whether or not the undead is still attached to their body.
Corporeal undead, are essentially walking corpses. They usually have to eat, and are still somewhat “alive”.. except for the lack of a heartbeat..
Incorporeal dead, are essentially walking souls. They do not have a physical body and tend to show up as more of a fragment.
Incorporeal Dead have to deal with the five stages of grief, until they reach acceptance their form will be fragmented and completely glitched and disturbing. Some Corporeal dead have to deal with this as well but it’s less often, or if they do it’s more of an emotional thing than a physical one.
POWERS: Most undead have the ability to turn others into the undead.
Usually an undeads powers is less about magical capacity but more about what their physical body can do.
STRENGTHS: It’s really hard to kill something that’s already dead. Usually in order to get rid of an undead creature you have to do or have something specialized.
They also are stronger than the living since most weapons don’t do much damage to them besides slowing them down.
WEAKNESSES: Having a body that’s constantly decaying or not even physically there SUCKS. One of the biggest weaknesses of being undead is simply the upkeep of your body.
Especially since allot of undead have a specialized diet as well, and that can be hard to have a constant supply of depending on the circumstances.
🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦
SUBSECTIONS:
INCORPOREAL:
Ghosts: One of the most common types of undead. If a human dies and has unfinished business on earth or died a traumatic death, they will become a ghost. Once Ghosts reach acceptance they are allowed to pass on whenever they wish, some Ghosts chose to stick around even if their business is finished.
Ghosts are slightly transparent, and depending on the level of acceptance can look more uncanny/scary. However they usually look like how they did when they died, wearing the same clothing. They usually also have evidence of how they died depending on the death. For example a ghost who drowned being dripping wet or someone who was murdered still having the bloody wounds they died of. Ghosts also tend to not have pupils or irises.
Ghosts can possess people, and can fly through walls and possess objects. They can also turn invisible and teleport. Most ghosts also tend to float instead of walk or run.
A ghosts main weakness is that it can’t physically interact with much. Making it less of a physical threat than some other undead. However it can do allot of psychological damage.
You can get rid of a ghost by either getting it to move to the other side, or an exorcism.
Yurei are a regional version of ghosts native to Japan, They can also refer to “Spirits” which is explained further down this list.
CORPOREAL:
Zombies: Zombies are made in one of two ways. One is easier than the other. The first way is necromancy, taking a fully dead person (no ghosts attached) and reanimating their corpse.
And the second way is the Zombie Virus. Which you can get by being bitten while you are alive or via government experimentation.
Zombies have to take good care of their bodies or else they will lose themselves to the virus, meaning they lose their humanity and only care about eating.
The less a zombie takes care of themselves the more rotted they become. It’s very important in the beginning stages to make sure to take care of your body so you don’t lose your mind to the virus.
A Zombies rot will start from their bite mark and then spread throughout the body.
Zombies are carnivores and mainly eat brains and sometimes other organs if they are desperate enough. Their teeth are very sharp, and their saliva contains the zombie virus.
Even if a zombie takes care of themselves. There will always be some form of decay on their body due to them being a corpse. However as long as they take care of themselves they can theoretically preserve themselves forever.
Mummies and Skeletons are variations of Zombies.
A Zombies main weakness is that in order to keep their humanity they have to make sure they’re taking care of themselves, and two, destroying the zombies brain will kill them. Zombies are able to take blows from guns and knives without dying but if their brain is damaged they will die.
Some people will cut the zombies head off and then destroy the brain that way.
Vampires: Vampires, a classic. Vampires are made by being almost completely drained of blood by another vampire, Usually via the neck or wrist, and before you die, you are given some of the vampires blood.
This infects you, and turns you into a creature of the night. A vampires main diet is blood, they grow sharp fangs in which they bite their prey with. Their fangs act as both a piercing device and a straw which sucks the blood into their mouth.
Vampires can eat normal food as well, however it does not satisfy hunger.
Vampires can shapeshift into wolves, bats, etc. and also are incredibly fast.
Vampires are extremely nocturnal. Usually choosing to sleep during the day and wake up at night, due to the sunlight burning them due to their thin skin.
However vampires are able to go out in the daytime if needed usually choosing to have umbrellas, jackets, and covering their skin head to toe. They can also try and stay in the shadows, so the direct sunlight doesn’t hit them.
Vampires also sometimes have wings. Though this is a bit rare.
Vampires have two forms, their human form, and their vampire form. Their human form looks pretty normal for the most part, vampires don’t tend to show their true form unless they are starving.
Vampires can sleep in normal beds and can sleep normally. But it’s more comfortable to sleep in a coffin. It’s more cozy.
Holy Objects from any religion or sacred places tend to hurt vampires psychically. It does not hurt the vampire physically. But bright shiny objects or things that have a holy aura (which is also bright) tend to confuse the vampire and hurts their head.
There are also several plants that Vampires have grown allergic too. For example garlic, mustard, roses, hawthorn, etc. it’s unknown why Vampires are allergic to these things but it’s theorized it’s because of genetics.
Vampires are not able to be seen in mirrors due to their body being more of a illusion. Their human form tends to be shapeshifted to look more innocent and less menacing.
Vampires need permission before being let in to a house. Which humans can use to their advantage. “Can I come in?” “I don’t know, CAN you?” *insert vampire sulking off*
If you want to kill a vampire for good. Staking them through the heart is your best bet.
Dhamphirs: One of the only creatures of the dead that is born into this world. You cannot be made into a Dhamphir, they are only made when a human and a vampire have a baby.
Dhamphirs look almost fully human, except for the lack of heart beat. They also tend to have unnatural eyes like gold or silver.
Dhamphirs are essentially vampires but without any of the normal weaknesses. They can walk in the sun, have a pretty normal diet not needing to feed on humans as often, usually if a Dhamphir has enough meat in their diet that’s enough blood for them.
Dhamphirs make fantastic vampire hunters as they are able to sense the occult allot better than their human hunter counterparts. Though sometimes emotions blind them to seeing the occult properly.
A Dhamphirs main weakness is their heart. Like their vampire counterparts if they are stuck through the heart they will die immediately. Though good luck trying to catch them to do that-
Lich: Also nicknamed Phoenixes. These are a unique type of undead, as they are the closest you can be to being alive as an undead. Liches don’t have as much problems with decaying as other undead do.
Their main ability is that they cannot truly die. When they die, their body turns into ash, and they rise up again completely alive. So they can die over and over again with no consequences.
Another way a Litch can’t die is by simply… not.. dying… Anything you do to this kind of Litch simply hurts them, there’s nothing you can do to truly put them out of their misery.
The mental toll on liches is very high. And they tend to not have other powers like the other undead do.
WEIRD GREY AREA:
Spirit: Spirit is a term used to describe people who are of the undead but don’t fit into the other categories of undead. Like a person who became one with the dead but didn’t really “die” per say. Like for example, Princess Hana who became one of the dead by spending allot of time in the underworld.
Spirits go through the 5 stages of grief just like ghosts and tend to have different forms for the stages like ghosts. But their body is usually corporeal.
Reapers: Also called Psychopomps. This is a term used for people who guide spirits to the afterlife. Angels of death, Deities of Death, The Grim Reaper, etc fall under this category.

Micah Coleman (Ghost)
James DuPont (Lich)
Aspen Quinn (Zombie)
Phillip Helsing (Vampire)

ALRIGHT ALRIGHT I'LL POST ABOUT THEM even though no one asked
okay so i've been gone for... a bit. But it's cause I have a hyperfixation on this fuckin' cod oc that I made cause my friend also made one that is his special interest and we wanted them to be gay and we wanted to rp them. so yeah, that's where i've been and thats where i'm at. Okay, so i assume cause i'm doing this my friend will post his as well, so im gonna mostly focus on fly (his life) and his relationship with shark.
DISCLAIMER: we fucked these guys up, like big time, they are so mega traumatized and not just cause of the military. a lot of the stuff in fly's backstory is stuff i have experience with but honestly he just kept getting more fucked up over time cause the issues kept building on eachother and woof. damn. anyway, tw for sh, suicide, addiction, and just like, unhealthy shit.
Pt 1. FLY
okay so, his name isn't actually fly, its Jamie Flynn but that's his callsign. The callsign came from 3 things, his speed/difficulty when it comes to getting caught, his perspective on situations is a lil different, and his last name is Flynn so its that shortened.
RAPID FIRE INFO: Alright, so he's irish, hes got the ginger goin on cause i had to yk. he was raised in Dublin but his voiceclaim is hozier (normal speaking voice) cause i cannot be that stingy about accents rn. He is currently a Sergeant in the 141, youngest member according to hc and canon calculations. He's 25 and only recently joined, prior to that he was in the Irish military from the end of highschool till now. He's gay, he's cis, he has ADHD, he had a rough childhood (we'll get into that later), he is also 1 inch taller than ghost (6'5") and he's a demolition's expert amogst other stuff.
TRAUMA SHIT - so he has more recent issues but i'll start from the beginning, growing up he was in a not terrible family but his parents mostly ignored him and he sort of raised himself most of the time. He didn't have a ton of friends but he did have one named Ben. now, the issues REALLY kick in when he witnessed Ben get shot. This fucked him up and he didn't really have a support system and his parents weren't involved in his life so that grief and confusion and loneliness just sort of manifested as anger and poor behavior. he got in a lot of fights in highschool, he was a really tall kid back then but he got his ass beat a lot and his parents just made it worse cause they didn't want to deal with him and just yelled at him and stuff for it. eventually this became larger, criminal problems. he did do some drugs in highschool but nothing super super serious, but he did start hotwiring cars and going on joyrides, which got him arrested at the ripe old age of 16. His parents had just had his twin brothers at this point and didn't want him around or have to deal with him anymore after this so they passed him off to a family friend named Sean who was actually really good to Jamie. The first few months were rough and it almost seemed to get better but then Jamie's parents disowned him fr and he realized he was never going to be with his family before and it broke him. and here's were that tw comes in cause he did attempt by overdose. after that his relationship with sean improved, he went to therapy, he started boxing as an outlet, and he improved. He was by no means perfect, he was a C average student in school and he still got into fights but not nearly as frequent as before.
tldr: he's got abandonment issues, anxiety, depression stuff, and he turned out sort of okay? maybe? no that's a lie, you'll see.
MILITARY AND MORE TRAUMA - He joined the military out of highschool and after he had been there for a bit he decided to try training for demolitions cause Sean did construction demolitions and he always found it interesting. all was well for a while untill when he was 19 there was an exercise and things went VERY poorly, another trainee's device went off behind Jamie, it killed the trainee and left fly with a lot of very severe burns and scars on his back and other injuries that left him in a hospital for a few weeks. This left him out of commision for a while but he picked up again 6 months later and got back right where he left off, unfortunately he had developed a new issue. Oxycontin. it was perscribed to him for the pain during his recovery and they never stopped his prescrption because of his claims of long lasting pain. he was absolutely an addict for a couple years but he tried to quit and now while he still does take it, it is far less frequent and generally only when hes having some really really bad mental health issues, unfortunatley it does mean he combines it with alcohol. Anyway, he continued where he left off (just with some more issues) rising the ranks and gaining a rep until eventually he was recruited by the 141 task force.
Now how does all of this trauma affect him today? - welp. he doesnt maintain any close relationships, hasn't taken off his shirt in front of another person (unless forced or sedated) for 6 years, he has some pretty major anxiety problems, abuses substances to get through his hard times, severe intrusive thoughts, and has some genuinely awful intimacy/attachment problems. by that i mean he is still a virgin, never had a serious romantic relationship and keeps anyone (even sean) at an arms length. this includes shark, at least for some time.
see, he panics and has severe anxiety about allowing himself to get close to anyone, mostly cause he's got some past experiences that convince him that they'll leave again. so lets get into Shy.
SHY (shark and fly)
Shark, or Andy Lane, is another member of the 141, hes 29 and a Lieutenant. He is much closer with soapghost and everyone else in the 141 and has been there for a lot longer and has a romantic/platonic relationship with soapghost as well. He's autistic and hes got a lot of problems. he also has a service dog named Thresher who fly loves. anyway, so right off the bat, their relationship is gonna be genuinely awful for a very long time. We rp this, so no specific outcome is guaranteed but, yeah things are gonna be really bad i'm not gonna lie to you. they both have so many problems that collide in the worst ways possible. Fly has abandonment issues, Shark pulls away when things get super bad. Shark avoids his relationship problems, Fly cannot let things slide. Both of them are very secretive about their problems and its just not a healthy relationship.
So whats happened so far? well, honestly not a ton ig, they met, got off on the wrong foot cause Shark doesn't do well with unexpected meetings. they flirted a little bit, trained a tiny bit together, and then got sent on a really short mission. after that they sort of just saw eachother around, found out that both of them refuse to shower unless they're alone in the showers, and that's sort of it for the first couple months. After that they got sent on a extended mission, not goin into details of it cause truth is we just wanted to make them live in a house together for an extended period of time cause otherwise they prob wouldn't get to know eachother very much. so we put them in this house, they have a bunch of funny little quirks in their friendship that i'll talk about sometime in the future, and yeah. They chill. at one point fly gets a lil high on the weed and shark flirts with him which was a terrible plan cause it just makes fly a bit gay for shark. Then they watch the conjuring and fly is surprisingly terrible with horror movies so shark makes fun of him and then lets fly hold his hand for the rest of the movie which is cute. (this is just about as wholesome as their relationship has gotten/will get) and then more recently they went to a bar together, shark flirted with some people and a very drunk fly got real jealous and then they had a little confrontation in the bathroom and fly ended up kissing him :D so after that happened they talked about it a super tiny bit and then left it for weeks cause fly didnt know what to do and he was sort of confused by the whole thing. now, MOST RECENTLY and ongoing, fly was acting weird and shark noticed, he got defensive and then shark demanded some sort of explanation for why he was being a dick. fly sort of broke down and started getting really freaked out by the whole thing cause he genuinely has no idea how he feels about it and how to move forward. anyway, he cries, tells shark whats goin on, and shark talks to him, then flirts with him, then kisses him, and now they're making out in the kitchen. both of them trying not to freak out. So we have an outline, but i figure ill just give a monthly update on them or something cause this post is SO LONG OMG.
ill do another post with art cause i've been drawing them and i am way too proud of this borderline gay porn that i've drawn. anyway. yeah, i love them, i'm obsessed with them. i would love to be asked about them. i literally listen to their playlist all the time and yeah. swag. thanks for listening to this true nightmare of formatting.

Yes I agree with everything you said! Now that I think of it..I always read a lot of summer romance type books or set during the summer. Haha with the name thing..for a while it just felt like the book was following me or something. With these books..I guess maybe it just felt like I read it at the right time in my life or like this book was for me..which made it special and it was something I could relate to in my real life which maybe usually other people can't. One of them tells a full story which helped me grieve at the time and the other one is like getting thru the loss..and I read it at the right time for that too. I get why some people wouldn't like them..I didn't think it was perfect either..but I could just relate to it. Like with the Stepping Off Place..it had more characters and somehow I felt like I was every character..then I started making up headcanons or extra scenes or references to other things in my life too..sort of putting myself in all the characters. I remember reading a quote on your blog in the grief tag that said..it helps you heal to see characters go through something you went through so I always think of that too. I also think Stepping off Place would make a great movie..kinda similar to All the Bright Places or Looking For Alaska. Ever since Taylor said she was writing a movie..that inspired me and ive been thinking about this lol but of course this is specific to me and other people might not like it or disagree with stuff I added idk. My sister has been kinda working on her own movie too so we have been bonding over that lately lol. I'm not sure about If He Had Been With Me..if it would translate as well but I would want that too. It has more of an old fashioned vibe to me I think cuz it reminds me of Flipped maybe..so maybe like that and the other is more modern..and that might influence which one you like more and they're kinda similar. They both also fit the Folklore love triangle in a way more with liking two people at the same time..which is something I also relate to so I appreciate that perspective lol. This is just to give you more info why I liked it or what it meant to me..and if you are interested..but I'm glad you care about my recommendations! Please recommend me some good books as well!
I love when it feels like you read the exact right book at the right time for you and it's as though the author has put your feelings into words — for me a couple like that were Writers & Lovers by Lily King (fairly recently) and All the Bright Places and When We Collided back when I was a teen. It's always interesting to know why people enjoyed with a book beyond just things like good writing, I'll have to read both and see which one I connect with more. Also that's so cool that you're thinking about movie writing (with tour and rerecords going on I keep forgetting that we've got Taylor's movie coming up at some point!) I think when it's with ideas that feel really specific to you those can often be the kinds of stories that actually resonate strongly with someone else who's had a similar experience or feeling!

I started and finished this show in one afternoon and I am going absolutely feral over it.
First of all it is AWESOME and getting full text romantic love between two female leads that other characters see and recognise and support instead of having them hiding in the princesses villa like it's a special thing just for them that would have them otherwise shunned was so far beyond my expectations I'm dizzy.
It did have one wild moment of cognitive dissonance where literally right after we got a fade to black on Euphie pinning Anise down of the bed to go in for another kiss we got a scene with the king saying "Anise as Euphie's new older sister you have to look out for her" that slammed me right back into the fact that as much as things have progressed this is still an anime and the industry has a reputation. Like guys, buddy's, friendos, just fucking marry them, or declare them engaged. Euphie is literally becoming queen to tear down an age of tradition and the monarchy along with it. The nobility is gonna be crying pissing and shitting themselves over the changes anyways, might as well throw out the "royals have a responsibility to produce more royals" tradition with a gay marriage to mark the occassion.
But the thing that has me going well and truly feral is that if the show was this good at twelve episodes how much better could it have been with 24, or 50?
I'm not saying it has the material to be as long as something like My Hero Academia but I reckon it could have comfortably had a run as long as something like Death Note or even Code Geass.
These fuckers cover story lines that would have been covered across 5 episodes at a bare minimum in a rush in older series in one episode a piece and somehow still made a decent product because as much as they distilled everything down to the absolute tiniest margin of spacetime and used every god damn shortcut for conveying or glossing whatever information they could, they managed to make a compelling web of relationships.
Technically they aren't covering 1 arc in an episode it's that they set up ALL of their arcs and have them ALL in motion basically from moment one and then just resolve each one just before it can tangle up the possibility of resolving the next. Which means we get episodes devoted to burning through and resolving the vast majority of each arc in quick succession. And it works but fuck if it doesn't say some very depressing things about the culture we've built about churning out constant and fresh content as quickly as possible.
The folks that made this very clearly loved the story or at the very least really really wanted to flex their story telling abilities to have managed to make the condensed concurrently developing arc thing work THIS well, because a lot of shows just don't.
Even then though twelve episodes is SO few for how much this story has to offer and the dramatic emotional reactions required to carry that pacing do at times edge past "oh well it's anime" and right into "everyone in this show is having a manic episode for plot convenience."
The emotions make sense when you look at the info and context being presented to you but sometimes it feels like they change before you actually get the time to process the info being given to you so it's only after the characters have cycled through like the 5 stages of grief or whatever that you get a chance to puzzle through what the fuck just happened and go "yeah ok, that's an unhealthy but convincingly human reaction to what the fuck is happening here."
This show feels like it has done things to rewire my brain but also like it's totally possible I will have no memory of it a week from now because it was built to be consumed quickly and leave space for whatever morsel the studio pumps out next.
Anise and Euphie be cute AF though.
Watching The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady and the whole vibe is Anise fell first but Euphie fell harder.
Also it goes from 0 to 60 so fucking quickly, like I get that they had to fit a lot into a 12 episode show but damn bro.
#the magical revolution of the reincarnated princess and the genius young lady#tensei oujo to tensai reijou no mahou kakumei#algard accuses euphie of attempting an assassination and then anise immediately swoops in and aligns herself with euphie#can you imagine the show where the political ramifications of those disparate actions have a more tangible impact?#they wouldn't even have dropped the light hopeful tone they try to maintain for the show to do it#it would have just meant we would have gotten to see more Cheerful On Purpose Anise#establishing how she is far more contientious that people give her credit for due to her recklessly kind attitude even more firmly#thus making the showdown with algard even more dramatic and her response to being made sole heir even more emotional
