Now I'm curious about the 2cp thing on overwatch. Please talk about it I love reading your takes on those

2cp was an awful gamemode for a bunch of reasons that primarily boil down to stuff about how spawn points work. so in 2cp you've got two points, point a and point b. defenders spawn right by point b, attackers spawn closer to a. if attackers take a, then attacker spawns move forward and they can try to take point b

the practical effect of this is that holding point a is extremely difficult -- you spawn a good map distance away if you die on defense, so if the attackers can get a pick they can almost always take it (overwatch is an incredibly team-dependent game, numbers advantages in teamfights are enormous and trump nearly everything else unless there's major ult or skill disparities).

now the thing is that the winners of a fight probably did more damage and healed more during that fight, so it's very common for the attacking team to then simply be have an ult advantage and be able to run over to point b and roll over the newly respawning defending team. this is a brutal snowball effect that is really oppressive and miserable to play against as defenders.

& now the absolute worst thing that can happen here--especially common at lower levels of play--is for one defender to be 'staggered' (ie, die a while after the others) during or immediately after point a being captured. this means that on top of a probable ult advantage, the attackers have a numbers advantage. very frustratingly this is very likely to happen when one of your teammates decides they are going to heroically go and 1v6 the enemy team while the point is 99% captured--unless you're communicating and coordinating there is no way to stop someone from dooming your team with a play like that. even in higher level play where nobody would do something so silly there's ways for attackers to deliberately stagger enemies (a very famous one is popping dvas mech and slowly meleeing baby dva to death)

HOWEVER, if this snowball doesn't happen, the fact that point b spawns are right next to the point leads to another very obnoxious play pattern--stalling. it is nearly impossible unless you get off ap erfect 6-man ult combo to wipe the whole defending team in such a way that you can take point before one of them respawns and jumps on it. there's no point capture progress at all as long as one defender is still on the point, so (and this was true at higher levels, where people were better at stalling, and at lower levels, where people were worse at killing stallers) the defending team will all swap onto heroes with strong defensive or mobility-heavy kits and just run around the point like headless chickens trying to stall capture until more teammates respawned--and because the attacker spawns are so far from the point by comparison, getting even one kill during the staling process can swing a decisively won fight back around into a loss. i've seen games where the attackers win a fight on point b with 2+ minutes to spare and then the defending team stalls until overtime. just truly mind-numbing tedious toxic play patterns encouraged by the map design

and to top it all off, point capture progress only 'counts' for tiebreaking if you get more than 33%--which means that if you, as the first attackers during the first or any tiebreaker rounds, don't manage to get to 33% capture progress on point A, you can be left in a situation where it's impossible to win and you're playing for a draw--truly the most demoralizing experience imaginable, some of the least fun i've ever had playing video games. im so glad they blew it up

and then when the first main plotpoint was basically Michael going "SAVE MY DAD" my FIRST thought was that one Puss In Boots: The Last Wish scene;

like. gnawing on this au rn. i gnaw on all of your aus. this one and the Lee Lives/Apollo Becomes Mortal/BotL Au are officially my favs (Eclipse at this point is basically canon to me lol)

but yeah. I know this au has a BUNCH of beloved characters die, which would have admittedly upset me like, three years ago, but now?

Ah yes, this AU! Not one I've thought about in a while, but still a fun one!

Fun fact, for you if you missed the origin of it, and also for anyone else who might be reading this and hearing about this AU for the first time - this is an AU spinoff of my AU fic Tears Will Not Wash Away Your Crimes, where defeated!Kronos from canon timetravels back to the start of TLT to take Michael out before he could become the threat that saves Olympus (see: my long rants on how by being the one to realise Williamsburg Bridge needed to break, Michael stopped Kronos winning on the first day of the siege). In that fic, he succeeds in making Luke kill Michael, and while the fic never goes on to state it, it does become an alternate timeline where Kronos does, in fact, win (due to various factors such as Luke's betrayal not being discovered because Percy wasn't there to survive being poisoned and reveal that he was the traitor, etc. and also Kronos knowing how the demigods/gods operated and basically having the cheat code of being able to squash anything they try before they try it).

But also I am a perpetual Michael!lives fan, so with the enabling of @fearlessinger, as you mentioned, another AU spawned off of this, whereby when Luke carelessly mentioned Apollo by name, he caught Apollo's attention and the god himself turned up to whisk Michael away to safety. In the end, though, it doesn't stop Kronos from winning, because no-one knows enough to trump what Kronos knows. Hence, Kronos wins!AU.

But then!

There are some key changes that go down because of Kronos' prior knowledge... Change #1: Thalia is not restored by the Golden Fleece. Kronos did this because he wanted her as his host, but he tried that last time and it failed - he won't try again. Change #2: The di Angelos do not leave the Lotus Casino. No Thalia in the running suggests that Hades may not have bothered to pull his own children back into the prophecy race - if he really wanted them to be feasible as prophecy children, he'd have brought them out when Percy was claimed, as that would make Bianca a similar age to Percy and therefore viable as an alternative. Bringing them out a year or two later makes his kids younger than both Thalia and Percy and doesn't actually make sense, unless it was a response to being the only Big Three god with no kids involved... Change #3: Daedalus doesn't die, because Nico isn't around Change #4: All our Greek Hero demigods (and the Hunters) are dead, barring the above, and Michael, who was kept safe on Delos the whole time.

And these changes all line up quite neatly into a ridiculously large plot, based on the following consequences:

Consequence #1: the gods are thrown down into Tartarus Consequence #2: the triumvirate's deal with Kronos for their support involved getting Apollo as their prize so Caligula can still claim the sun god spot and Commodus gets his revenge. Apollo is passed to them, instead of Tartarus Consequence #3: Michael is rather pissed off about all of this

What happens after that, well. Imagine Michael, no longer trapped on Delos because the twins aren't there, making his way to Delphi. Imagine Phoebe initially reclaiming Delphi, before Kronos realises she was never on her side and instead release Python to reclaim it; Michael has enough time to speak with his grandmother, but only very little before he's forced to flee into the Labyrinth to hide.

Imagine Daedalus trying to atone for all the deaths he's caused by keeping this one demigod still alive, hidden in the Labyrinth while Michael tries to work out how the fuck he's supposed to save the gods, but never even considering not doing it ("the gods", of course, meaning "Apollo, mostly").

Imagine Apollo weakened, but still able to make dream contact. Apollo not being able to dissuade Michael from trying to save him. Apollo with nothing left to lose except his one son he can't protect himself, so he gives Michael knowledge, things to help him stay alive.

Knowledge, like how the daughter of Zeus is a tree but isn't dead, can be healed by that golden fleece (Percy, Annabeth and Grover retrieved it still, but the tree was not sick and so it was never hung upon it). Knowledge, like how there are two more Big Three kids trapped in a place where time doesn't move.

(Imagine Apollo chained up and forced to be his own oracle as his divinity is drained away. Imagine a little girl with sickle-rings on her fingers being drawn to him anyway, this captive god of the Beast. Imagine the god that still wants to save a child, if only he had the chance)

Imagine Michael healing Thalia with the fleece, the pair of them fleeing from the remains of camp (the remains of Michael's home) as Kronos realises he's there. Imagine Michael and Thalia edging into a casino that's too bright, too jovial compared to their broken world, and pulling two younger demigods back into the timestream. Imagine lurking in the Labyrinth, in the Underworld and discovering a dead girl who still remembers when she shouldn't.

Imagine these demigods plotting, scheming, desperate, and the power of three children of the Underworld combined, pooling their powers together until they can go anywhere the shadows touch.

Imagine them rescuing a god, and the little girl coaxed along with them.

And when they've got one god back... it's only a matter of time before they get the rest.

(And when Kronos discovers it's Michael, again, that foiled him in the end... Well. Some Fates can't be denied)

HxH: A Kakin soldier, Borksen, is captured by the Heil-Ly; Morena tries to recruit Borksen through a complicated and clearly rigged card game. Welcome back, Cipher Academy.

Yozakura: Tsubomi tells the twins how they can save Kyoichiro from sacrificing himself; the key is Rei's heart, which is only present because Hifumi previously spared Nii; Momo and Taiyo are freed of Asa's control. Hifumi's kindness is retroactively proven to be objectively correct, trumping any strategy or logic from the rest of the cast

Undead Unluck: Fuuko activates Remember, successfully upgrading the entire cast and allowing Julia to steamroll all of the Master Rules. Seems rushed at first, until you realize that Soul still hasn't been dealt with, and Julia just taught him a new facet to his Rule...

Roboco: Roboco writes her own relationship chart and can't help but ship herself with JJK's Gojo and Blue Box's Taiki. Watching Roboco fall into her delusions in real time is certainly a ride, and I'm really hoping that this chapter spawns a new meme template

Sakamoto: Tenkyu pulls off some sick tricks with his bow; Atari saves Shin with one of the most romantic displays of fate I've seen in Jump outside of UU. After all of that, it's going to be so funny when it turns out that Heisuke is her soulmate

EluSam: Kojiro's cousin, Kojiro, arrives to aid the team, but Uesugi sends Nagao to aid Sadamune. It looks like we're going to wrap up Kojiro's character arc soon, since his family and nemesis are converging

Witch Watch: The flashback continues and we see the rivalry between Moi and Kanshi's dads forming. All of the comments are suspicious of the kappa guy, Taiga, but I don't remember enough of the story so far to understand why

Blue Box: Chinatsu comes clean to her dad about her relationship with Taiki, and he tries to take her way; to compromise and make things easier on Chinatsu, Taiki volunteers to live with her dad in her stead. Chad move, honestly, props to you kid

Akane-Banashi: Issho and Shiguma approach Kiroku Kashiwaya to become his apprentices, but are initially turned away until they make amends with the soba shop owner; they learn of Kiroku's past in the army. I don't fully understand what made Kiroku accept them, but I was certainly touched by their apology scene

Kill Blue: The Butler/Maid Cafe uses underhanded tactics, selling idol merch, wearing cat-ears and sending scummy dudes to harass Noren; Noren awakens a femdom fetish in said dudes. We have yet to establish any real stakes aside from pride in this battle, but at least it's funny

Nue: Gakuro is revealed to have done some extra training off-screen with Hakutaku and manages to beat Rido with his new move, Massacre Gear. Not only is that a bad name for a move inspired by Gakuro's friendships, I truly don't understand what it does or how he acquired it; the presentation of events is sloppy, and the exposition of the power system is coming at an odd time

Kagurabachi: Billy Samura explains his motives to Uruha, claiming that he's going to use the Hishaku to eliminate the Swordbearers and then personally wipe out the less experienced Hishaku once they have the Enchanted Blades; Uruha understands his reasoning, but opposes his methods; as Uruha is killed, Hakuri manages to summon Chihiro. Compelling, but Samura seems kind of shortsighted here, since his plan is to ALLOW THE HISHAKU TO HAVE THE BLADES! They will definitely hurt more innocents before he gets to them!

Chojo: Kirara challenges Lily at the arcade and loses at everything, but they form a friendly rivalry. Every comment I saw agreed they should kiss.

Astro Royale: Kinpa takes a page out of MHA and realizes her invisibility can be used to refract light into a laser. I like that she was able to find an alternate use for her Astro, but it felt really sporadic; at least it suggests that other Astros can be upgraded too

Kiyoshi: On the brink of despair, Kiyoshi remembers Yamada's advice to breathe through his fears and gains the upper hand against Asuta. This definitely looks like an axe, but Asuta could escape OR it could turn out he's not the strongest enemy available afterall

Hima-Ten: On the bus to the school trip, Tenichi and Honoka lose at bingo and are forced to sing bad karaoke, but get to go to a coveted date spot as a consolation prize; Himari gives out lip balm that brings good luck in love, but ends up with one left over for herself. I appreciate that we're not dancing around Honoka's feelings, but if Himari is going to be competition, I wish someone would tell her that

Ichi: Shirabedonna suggests revealing Ichi to the world, but the Silver Snow Witch, Togeice, counters that Ichi needs to be taught proper manners first; Shirabedonna proposes that Togeice and Ichi compete to see who can capture a mushroom Magik first. Most of the comments seem to expect Ichi to lose to force a school arc, but I'm expecting this to show off Ichi's style a bit more

Shinobi Undercover: Hachikuma is revealed to fight with strings; Aoi is weirdly calm and keeps talking about fun upcoming events until she gets knocked out; Yodaka manages to take her back, and the fight intensifies. I assume that Aoi's positivity is her coping mechanism for losing her family, and she's not actually as calm as she appears to be

Hakutaku: Hikuma and Noto convince Zenji to help them make their next game; two months later, Noto very creepily convinces a bunch of kids to download what turns out to be an AR game. Wasn't this...supposed to be about dodgeball...?

Syd Craft: A master detective turns out to just be a savant at observation who just wants to know love; despite constantly finding out his love interests are murderers, Syd never realizes that his plucky assistant, Elio, is actually a girl in disguise or that his rival inspector, Souffle, is actually his childhood friend, both of whom are in love with him. Love the premise on its face, but right away it's another harem manga with no clear leading heroine, so time will tell if it's me or Tsutsui who truly Never Learns

Of everything this week, I'd say that Sakamoto Days was actually my favorite; Tenkyu's bow stunts were very cool, and Atari invoking impossible probability to make a gun out of scrap metal is a fun image that will stick with me for a while

UU would have been my favorite if not for the character moments it unfortunately skims over, most notably Tatiana and Billy's reunion. I still have faith that Tozuka is building up to something great, but that moment at least has been lost

Syd Craft's introduction is a lot of fun, I just hope that Tsutsui actually goes the poly route this time, or at least includes one if he does the multi-ending trick again

Supposedly next week or the week after we're going to be seeing a manga by ONE, Bug Ego, moving in from Young Jump; I don't know if it's going to start over or just pick up where it left off, or even if this is only a temporary move, but I'm worried about whether it will necessitate that something else gets the boot. At the moment it's looking like Kiyoshi, but I really hope not

Here’s a sentence I never imagined I’d need to write: It would be a bad idea for the U.S. to go to war with Mexico. And yet here we are. The thing about a candidate as historically dangerous, impulsive, and incompetent as Trump is that he routinely proposes stuff so off the wall that it would tank virtually any other campaign. But because of this, some of his nuttier ideas are overshadowed by everything else he does. In a previous post, I looked at one of these under-the-radar ideas — Trump’s catastrophic promise to deny federal funding to any school that requires kids to be vaccinated. Today, we’ll look at another — the Trump/Republican vow to bomb or invade Mexico. Trump has repeatedly threatened that, if elected again, he will bomb drug cartels and fentanyl manufacturing facilities in Mexico. He has also proposed sending assassination teams or special forces units into the country. He vowed to take these actions with or without the consent of the Mexican government. The Mexican government has been pretty clear about where it stands on this: They would not consent. So let’s be clear about what Trump is proposing: He’s proposing an invasion of Mexico. Which means he’s a proposing a war with Mexico.

Trump’s history with this threat suggests we should take it more seriously than the typical bluster he spouts during one of his campaign rally monoglogues. Rolling Stone reported last year that even then he had already asked his advisors to assemble a “battle plan” to enact shortly after he’s elected. He also reiterated his promise in an interview he and running mate JD Vance did with Fox News last month (Vance is also all for it). The origin of the war with Mexico idea dates back to the end of Trump’s first term, when, in response to rising fentanyl overdoses, he attempted to designate drug cartels as Foreign Terrorist Organizations, despite the fact that they don’t fit any reasonable definition of a terrorist. He apparently thought this would allow him to bomb the cartels as if they were ISIS cells. It turns out that it isn’t that simple. You can’t simply call people “terrorists” and immediately start bombing the countries where said “terrorists” are operating without first consulting with the leaders of those countries. Mexico’s president promptly and resoundingly dismissed the idea. This apparently irked Trump enough to take the position he advocates today: Just bomb them, anyway.

[...] Destructive, counterproductive policy that treats foreign lives as disposable has long been the hallmark of U.S. overseas drug interdiction. We’ve funded the extra-judicial execution of drug offenders in Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines. We partnered with South American governments to shoot down suspect drug running planes without regard to the possible loss of innocent life — that is, until the policy claimed the lives of a U.S. missionary and her daughter. In Panama, the CIA (specifically, George H.W. Bush) propped up and facilitated the drug-running operation of brutal dictator Manuel Noriega. When Noriega was no longer useful for fighting communism, the U.S. then indicted him for said drug running, then (specifically, George H.W. Bush) invaded and bombed his country. We killed hundreds of Panamanian citizens in the process.

As for Mexico itself, in the mid-2000s the U.S. incentivized the country’s government to enlist its own military in the drug war. That policy toppled some cartels, but also spawned destabilizing turf wars and violence as rival factions vied to replace them. The winners then and the military have since been fighting for nearly two decades. The death toll is now approaching half a million people. When asked about the carnage, then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton basically said in 2011 that tens of thousands of dead Mexicans was a price the U.S. was willing to pay to keep harmful drugs away from Americans. (It did not keep illicit drugs away from Americans.) The arguably most destructive U.S. overseas anti-drug program was Plan Colombia, Bill Clinton’s drug eradication program that poisoned farmland, fostered rampant corruption, and pushed that country into a civil war that has killed tens of thousands of people. This too did not keep illicit drugs away from Americans.

It will backfire

Even drug cartels have a code. They go out of their way to avoid harming U.S. law enforcement, and they don’t target U.S. citizens. When underlings have violated this code, or when U.S. citizens have suffered collateral harm, the cartels have bent over backwards to make amends. The last thing they want is to bring the full force and weight of the U.S. government upon themselves. This of course doesn’t excuse the times drug violence has harmed American citizens. We should naturally seek justice in those cases. But while what Trump is proposing won’t end the illicit drug trade, it will create an existential threat to the current cartels. It will back them into a corner. Cartels avoid U.S. casualties because they want to remain in operation. If they know the United States is sending its military to kill them, there’s no incentive to adhere to the code. They’re likely to lash out — against U.S. law enforcement, U.S. citizens, possibly U.S. politicians.

Mexico isn’t our enemy

Depending on how you measure it, Mexico is either our first, second, or third biggest trade partner. Any military action taken without consent of the Mexican government would bring most of that trade to a screeching halt. That risks about $855 billion in annual commerce. It would threaten millions of jobs, particularly in California, Texas, Louisiana, and the industrial Midwest. When Trump threatened to completely shut down the border during his first term, economists warned it would result in a shortage the goods from Mexico, including computers, cars and car parts, gas, chemicals, and produce (goodbye avocados!). Mexico is also a big consumer for U.S. agriculture. So corn, soybeans, poultry, pork, and dairy farmers would also take a hit. We’d also see major interruptions in supply chains that flow through Mexico. When the Border Patrol shut down just one official crossing in San Diego for just a few hours in 2019, businesses in that city lost $5.3 million. All of this economic damage would come in addition to the calamitous economic effects of Trump’s other disastrous campaign promises, like across-the-board tariffs and mass deportations.

I was just listening to some sad music while thinking about q!bbh and… the eggs changed him. They saved him in a sense. All of them.

When Bad first arrived at the island he was aimless and much like Foolish, looking for the next subject of entertainment. He was only out for himself and couldn’t be bothered to lend a helping hand to anyone.

Then he was given a little egg with a top hat and everything changed. He had someone vulnerable to look out for, to provide for, and suddenly he was given purpose. All of these little eggs were precious beyond words and everything was perfect until it wasn’t.

Charlie tried to murder Dapper right in front of Bad. That was the first time Bad felt fear in a long long time then a deep sadness settled in when he learned Juanaflippa had died and that’s what sent Slime on his rampage and everything suddenly felt so much more real. The illusion of perfection broke and Bad realized, truly realized, just what Dapper meant to him.

Juanaflippa was brought back but then a hat trick of tragedy strikes and Bad is forever changed. Bad has a chance to walk Tilin home but she chooses to go with Slime who accidentally kills her. Juanaflippa chooses to stay with Mariana and he accidentally kills her - again. And Trump dies of neglect alone in an empty house. (Cc!Bad mentioned on stream a while back that the admins had asked him if he could do Trump’s tasks but Bad didn’t realize how dire the situation was- he blames himself)

Within the span of 24 hours, three eggs died and Bad could have saved each of them. This is when everything changes for Bad’s character. This is where Bad vows that no egg was ever going to die of neglect again. This is when Bad started grinding to become the richest person on the server and ensured that all the eggs had maxed out armor at all times. These eggs dying the way they did is what created the Badboyhalo we knew.

Bad created the warp plate system in the sky so he’d be able to reach just about anywhere near spawn to save an egg if they went down. He is the one who discovered the true utility of warp stones and spread that information across the server. He is the one who informed everyone of the autoeat and XP pump functions of the backpack and set up all the eggs with infinite XP so their armor would never break.

He was so incredibly damaged by these eggs dying that he turned all his hyper vigilance towards protecting the remaining eggs even if he barely knew the parents or the eggs themselves. He would never say no to someone asking for help ever again.

Bad went from selfish and out for himself to the most selfless person on the server. He was a demon seeking entertainment in the wake of eternity and transformed into a servant of the people who gave his life again and again for others without question.

Getting Dapper primed Bad for change. Dapper was the crack in the stone that allowed the walls within him to shatter when Juanaflippa, Tilin, and Trump died. Ever since that tragic day, all of the eggs became part of Bad’s family.… and now they are gone.

Dapper and their siblings brought out the best of Bad. They saved him from a cycle of chaotic indifference. And now he’s alone again. Everything he’s done to protect them has been for nothing. Everything he’s changed, the steps he took towards healing millennia old traumas… all of that was for not.

Some wounds cut too deep to heal. Even with all the progress Bad made, he still valued his entire self worth on how useful he was to others, on protecting the eggs. Every time something happened to the kids, he took it as a personal failure. When Bobby died, he blamed himself for not going with them on the adventure. Now they are gone gone. They fled. They are somewhere Bad can’t follow. He failed them. He had one job and he failed.

It doesn’t matter what happens to him now. Getting them back is all that matters. Bad’s world has lost all vibrancy and he’s physically fading away. He doesn’t notice because he can’t let himself. It doesn’t matter. All that matters is getting them back. But even if he does… it’s already too late. He failed. He couldn’t protect them. He failed.

When the eggs come back changed (hatched?) all he will see is his failure. If he lives long enough to see his babies return, will they give him the strength to come back from this? Or will their presence give him the reassurance that… it’s okay. He doesn’t need to fight anymore. They are safe now. He can let go. One last goodbye.

Fuck man. I’ve been here since the beginning. Since the second day Bad had Dapper. I’ve watched almost every single stream since. I’ve watched Bad change in real time. I’ve watched Dapper and the other eggs change him. I stayed up until 3 am watching Bad bargain with god to save his son from an unfair death. I’ve watched Bad chase desperately across the map only to arrive moments too late to find Ramon’s corpse. I’ve watched him sit silently weeping while waiting for Jaiden and Roier to say their last goodbyes. I still remember his screams for Dapper when they were killed by pillagers. I remember them stranded in the snow tens of thousands of blocks from safety with no items no food Dapper couldn’t even speak. Terrified that it could end then and there.

The fact that this whole journey has lead us here. Bad is literally dying because he failed them. He failed them in a hundred different ways but this was the big one. This failure broke him. If Bad does end up dying dying at the end of this arc… that would both be the most narratively satisfying yet heart breaking thing that could possibly happen. The eggs saved him in a million different ways. It makes sense that they would also be the death of him.

Bad’s a demon and a grim reaper so I doubt he’d stay dead but I could see Dapper and friends going on a quest to bring him back from where ever demons/grim reapers go when they die. Maybe he’ll finally get some closure from the tragedies he’s left in his wake all throughout history. Maybe he’ll get a chance to truly start over with a clean slate.

Fuck now I’m thinking about Dapper having ti live through their dad sacrificing himself for them and their siblings. before i explain the bitb guys and their powers i think i need to explain the queen!! i think she triggers in like 1970, and she's just a normal parahuman who gets insanely powerful trump/changer/master powers. she can control people trickster style but that’s a lot harder to do and usually limited to just one or two people. her main power is making bug clones of real people. she makes people nilbog style but they spawn like a parasite directly out of the person they’re trying to mimic. like mitosis!!! except it usually kills the host and turns them into goop <3 the clones retain that person’s memories, they’re like minions that she can control that usually have brute/changer powers, but some can also have trump powers (like becky!!). making clones that are more human and much closer to their real counterparts takes a lot more time, eventually she does get to the point where she can just make clones really fast but theyre sooo buggy and usually have mostly just brute powers and that's when the events of bitb would happen <3 ok here r the boys

rand hero name - conspiracy powerset - thinker: has the ability to ask any yes or no question in his head and get an objectively true answer. his power does not always work--for example, he can't ask about the endbringers and get answers, and if the answer to his question is nuanced, it often just won't give him one trigger event - seeing rachel at the galloway border right after the car crash

kian hero name - widow powerset - changer: he can turn into the goopy version of himself from when he was plastered to the tree!!! it's less liquidy and more sinewy, a bit stronger and tougher than normal human skin, and it almost looks like webbing. he can typically spread this webbing in about a three metre radius, but he can stretch it further if he's panicking and/or in danger. when becky temporarily enhances his powers with her own, he gains the ability to stretch his webbing really far, probably over a city block, and his body changes further, gaining a hollow in his chest with fleshy guitar strings over it, extremely elongated limbs that disappear into just webbing at the ends, and he is unable to speak in this version of his changed form, only sing with very vague syllables trigger event - he didn't trigger like most parahumans!! he bought a cauldron vial to get superpowers and thought he was going to get super speed or strength and got this instead

rolan hero name - tithonus powerset - brute/changer/mover: he's one of the queen's clones and has the ability to turn into a buggy mantis/cicada like form of himself. this typically consists of his legs getting longer and gaining more joints, his left arm morphing into a mantis-like scythe, and his face changing to have mandibles and four eyes. he has enhanced eyesight, strength, and speed. when fully in this form, he often loses the ability to speak, and has a voice box on his hip with prerecorded messages so he can press a button and relay some basic information if he needs to. trigger event - he ALSO doesn't technically have one!!! his bodies in the water moment goes much the same as in canon, and he is one of the queen’s first clones. she put a lot of effort into making him!!! she was very proud of how well he turned out ^_^ such a perfectly good clone who looks acts and thinks exactly like his original!! she’s so proud of him that she doesn’t immediately suck him into the hivemind because she wants to see what he does and watches him go through his life like normal!! he survives at the end because she cuts her connection with him before she dies because he's such a perfect clone and she wants something of hers to survive after she dies <3

becky hero name - stinger powerset - changer/striker/trump: she's also one of the queen's clones!! her changed form is a little similar to rolan's, although she doesn't change nearly as much and prefers to keep it to a minimum with antennae, mandibles, hard chitin on her body, and a couple extra sets of eyes. she can fire a long stinger out of her mouth, getting hit with this stinger would have either infected the target and caused a bug clone of them to form and spawn from their body or turned them into gross fleshy webbing. since the death of the queen, it can no longer do that, but it does hurt like a bitch to get hit with!! her main power is temporarily enhancing other parahumans' powers with a sort of pseudo second trigger. the effects are not permanent and typically last from ten minutes to a couple hours. she can typically only do this to one person at a time trigger event - like rolan, she didn't have a natural trigger!!! she went back to galloway to visit her parents maybe five years before the events of canon and got replaced by a bug clone then. the queen was also very proud of becky and managed to cut her connection with her just before her death to ensure she survived

We need more Slaughterhouse Hybrids.

Cape hybrids were probably the most interesting part of the 9000 slaughterhouse. But there were so few of them. We weren't even shown everyone in the battle, and these aren't even the most interesting possible combinations. If the spawner interestingly combines the abilities of the originals, then for example the Tyrant simply has several separate weakened abilities of the originals.

But I would like to see more interesting combinations and ideas. For example

Depression and PyroMania. (Cherish/Winter) and (Cherish/Burnscar) Depression suppresses people's emotions by paralyzing their will. More specialized but more effective than the original. Pyromania uses fire as a vector for emotional power. Being close to her fire causes in people the same change of emotions that the original burn scar had. Causing them to spread the fire.

Dead Moroz (Hatchet Face/Winter) [Дед мороз This Russian Santa Claus can be translated as Grandfather Cold] Stops fire and bullets. Disables superpowers. Hard to kill.

Fire axe(Hatchet Face/Burnscar) Fire as a trump power vector can burn power.

Firebird(Shatterbird/Burnscar) Controls molten glass. Flies in a bubble of hot air.

Politics in the Toilet

Lots of graffiti in one of the toilet stalls at work recently . There was a running Biden v. Trump argument. The Biden side was hampered by ink vulnerable to whatever chemical the cleaner uses against graffiti. The Trump side was probably using a Sharpie which remain unphased by it. The Trump side seems to have won, at least a temporary victory, writing: "Since you hate America you damn Communist."

When I got home I stumbled upon a author event with Kohei Saito and listened in. Saito"s 2020 book, Capital in the Anthropocene, became a surprise bestseller in Japan.

My experience in the USA, being called a "communist" is a lot like being called a "faggot," both epithets imply that such a person deserves violence meted out. I'm not sure that's the case in Japan, but Saito remarked that he used the term "degrowth communism" to emphasize that the climate and environment crises demand radical responses.

I can't view anything on YouTube that's remotely"left-leaning" without first some stern words from Victor Davis Hanson or something of that ilk. Saito's unexpected popularity has spawned lots of critical reviews as compared to Jason Hickle's book Less Is More: How Degrowth Will Save the World. There's some traction in having an unexpected bestseller. I enjoyed listening to Saito and my sense is that sudden or perhaps fleeting fame isn't going to phase him much.

Some of Saito's critics are from the left and a recurrent criticism is over the politics of achieving degrowth, or more broadly a politics of eco-socialism. One reviewer suggested reading Vincent Bevins's book, If We burn along side Saito"s Slow Down. Bevins's book sought to answer why a decade of protest has resulted in so little political change.

I'm a very commonplace person who looks to the writing on the toilet stall wall for a feel for the political pulse. But I noticed that Bevins previous book was The Jakarta Method. That book chronicles the American policy of mass killing in countries over the globe during the Cold War.

Seeing that book reminded me that it's not just everyday bullies who want to beat me up because the think I'm a faggot, a communist, or a faggot-communist, the violence is baked into the slow movement of history.

The climate crisis is moving faster than expected. The politics leading to positive change are very hard, and the stakes existential. I feel encouraged by Kohei Saito and Jason Hickel courage and good humor. I'm convinced that kindness is essential to politics now.

Progress and Regress

I've been reluctant to say this, but... well, republicans actually just plain want to make the world a worse place.

I've tended to buy that their leadership wants to live in a feudal society; and that their followers want a hierarchical society as well, but they think it would be better than what we have now. And that they legitimately believe the world would be better if we didn't offer so much compassion to those in need, if we didn't protect the weak from the strong, &c.

But I think the Trump shooting proves otherwise. I hate to say it, but there it is.

Okay, first: yes, it was timed such that it would give attention back to a particularly needy narcissist. However, the idea that it's a conspiracy just doesn't hold water. All the evidence so far suggests that the shooter was, well, the archetype of a shooter in America: a young white man, emotionally disturbed but not actually victimized, who had access to weapons of war and decided to make his life notable by ending the lives of many other people. According to the FBI he was considering going after Harris or Biden, and it just so happened that Trump was more available. In spite of the rightwing jumping immediately to blame him on leftist communist woke transgender activists, he was a registered republican and he didn't leave any particular manifesto. The only salient thing about him seems to be, he had the ability to do this and probably shouldn't.

Now, if this were Democrats - if the shoe were on the other foot - this would be a significant moment of reckoning. If, for example, a hitter for a Colombian Cartel tried to take out Kamala Harris, Democrats would be having a serious conversation about tightening border controls. Even though the actual motive would indicate she was doing a good job, it would make Democrats rethink their policies a little: "Hey, the stuff I'm doing is actually make us less safe, maybe there's another way we can do this?"

But not republicans. That is not their way. As one commenter noted: when Trump gets shot, they wear a bandage on their ear to show solidarity with Trump; when schoolkids get shot, they wear an AR-15 pin to show solidarity with the gun.

So you'd think they'd maybe care, right? In spite of never giving a single solitary fuck about little kids getting killed, in spite of mostly being motivated by a primal urge to hurt the Other... you'd think they'd at least care when there's a direct demonstration that their policies tangibly put their own guy at risk. This isn't even a case where you need empathy or compassion. One doesn't even need imagination. It's a thing that happened: young man had ready access to powerful weapons, young man used one of those weapons to try and kill the rightwing leader. It's very direct and simple.

And they are unfazed. It's horrible that Trump got shot, but wow how fast they switch to the passive voice on that. He wasn't shot by a person with a knowable motive, there wasn't anything that could have been done to keep it from happening. The shooter just spawned on that rooftop, the Secret Service failed to stop him, and that's it.

In fact, if anything I'd say the republican response has been one of glee. Their guy got a chance to look strong and be a martyr! They can fling blame around like a monkey with poo! Zero introspection, just blatantly exploiting a tragedy to claw onto more power. Even when the target was their own guy.

The truth is, they don't mind. They want the world to be a more violent, crueler, harsher place. They want people to suffer more. Themselves included. So long as they can have more power, they are perfectly pleased with this - even when it hurts them, just so long as The Other Guy is suffering more.

Every once in a while I'll sit down with mates and we'll watch something with a vague socialist ideal behind it. We don't search out specific media, but sometimes an actor just walks up to the 4th wall and starts talking like a Ted X talk. Simple shit like; "Maybe we shouldn't let everyone starve in these countries when food overproduction is a legit thing." "maybe killing the homeless is not a good idea?" or "just try to be nice and don't tell people who are doing something harmless that you don't enjoy to kill themselves." And I half zone out on these messages because I already learned these like 20 years ago and I don't need a refresher for something I already uphold. I have that sometimes. If you try to explain something I've had in my belief system for like 25 years and you talk to me like a child, I zone out. I'm not gonna stop ya because I know some peeps need to hear basic shit, but goddamn. Which really puts me in such a weird spot when the neo-libertarian conservative next to me has his world view shattered about addicts not just being addicted for the sheer fun of it or something. I just have difficulty trying to explain some of these basic human rights things to people of the same age group sometimes. Like, fuck, how did you not start thinking or learning this shit at least in your early 20's. What the fuck. How the fuck did you get through life up to this point while legit thinking you're the main character and we all de-spawn when you leave the room. I used to try, but I got tired of the endless bad faith arguments, "lol u made a typo so I won" and the slurs. At this point, it really ain't my job to educate you unless you pay me. Just read some shit NOT made by people who do shout-outs to StormFront or by the name of DerUnteidigeKriegMan88 if you wanna learn. But that means people would need to understand Google and it's fun way of leading you to garbage. Alright, here we go again. QSMP Day 26 Lore Update, based on what I saw and what I gathered from other people's summaries on Twitter:

First of all, I'd like to address the fact that Census Bureau seems to be more active these days, since Cucurucho was already spying on Vegetta before warning him about the no diamond rule.

Early on not much happened, Wilbur and Philza were introduced to each other's eggs and they had some family bonding time. It is now canon that Wilbur is Philza's son and Chayanne's brother, as well as Tallulah being their granddaughter and niece respectively. When things start to go downhill is after they log off, at Slime's stream.

At first Slime was just gathering resources, running away from mobs and trying to invoke angel!Rubius. Since q!Slime didn't know about Flippa's death at that point, he just kept finding stuff to give her whenever he sees her again (pain).

Everything would change with Cucurucho's visit while he was mining. They started asking him a bunch of questions about Flippa, and Slime started suspecting something had happened to her and demanded they told him. Cucurucho told him to "figure it out yourself", but in the end they did show him the clip of Mariana killing Flippa again.

Slime then enters a state of denial, refusing to believe his daughter is dead and hallucinating with her, however he seemed to finally accept her death after invoking angel!Rubius. Rubius addressed the fact that he had promised him an extra life for Flippa, though he said he had to "ask his father and other people" (aka he most likely promised him that in the first day of the event without knowing if he was allowed to do that lmao). He told Slime he had to choose between bringing back Flippa or Tilín, and Slime ultimately chose Flippa, but asked to give the life to Tilín if she didn't want to revive a second time. He also asked Rubius to not tell Quackity he was given the option to choose.

We now move on to Bad and Foolish, who learn about Leo's "friends": a platypus called Perry, Cucurucho themself and a mysterious black creature called Dark. This creature looks very similar to the monster Quackity drew according to a vision he had after Tilín's death, and according to Leo it protects her, though Foolish isn't very sure of this.

On his part, Maxo was getting drunk due to his grief over his egg's, Trump, death until he meets up with angel!Rubius, who accidentally tells him about Flippa's possible revival. Maxo confronts him about his own child's death and Rubius makes a deal with him to revive Trump if Maxo builds a church for him. However, soon would appear Cucurucho, who tells Maxo not to trust Rubius, and instead tells him that there's a chance that Trump can revive if he is online the next day, during the funeral for the eggs that have died. Maxo threatened then Cucurucho if they didn't actually bring back Trump, and they just... Laughed at him.

He then goes to visit Bad and Foolish, who by this point have had to fight a bunch of Withers Rubius spawned, to tell them about the deal and ask them for help. However they get interrupted soon by the binary code creature as well as more dragons attacking them. They are able to run away and get shelter though.

Maxo, Bad and Foolish start discussing and theorising some stuff, with Bad and Foolish agreeing to help Maxo if Cucurucho doesn't help him after all. Maxo also expresses worry that he's going to be turned into a robot like Luzu, as he was also told to go visit him by Cucurucho.

Turns out: Cucurucho was spying them, which they realised, and they followed Maxo as he ran away from them to make sure he actually believes them and tells him to trust the Census Bureau of the QSMP. The other two went their separate ways, with Bad going out of his way to check up on all the eggs and make sure no one would die out of neglect again.

And I believe that is all. Take into account I had to gather much of this from other people's commentary + the official update accounts so I might have left something out, but hopefully this is good enough.

Also, it seems something will be happening at the funeral, and since someone said "the worst is yet to come" my bets are Dark is gonna appear and won't be as kind as Leo believes it to be, but that's just a theory.
