Guess who just remembered this really old document they have sitting in their notes. Anyways woe empires smp season 1 dance style headcanons be upon ye
Pixandria: Dancing on sand is hard, so dances are specifically meant to be done on stone. Because of this, Pixandrians started dancing with the intent of making sounds with their feet and dance with a sort of tap shoe. Since the Anthill has the hardest rock of Pixandria, structured dances are done there. The Anthill has the added bonus of being the place closest to the sky, and dance is heavily associated with the winds and the storm. Dances are mostly calls for rain or a celebration of it. They are accompanied by drums, which mimic thunder, and the dance is very percussive and grounded. Wearing copper jewelry is also a large part of the dances, since it is so important to Pixandrian culture, calls the storm, and adds extra noise when it clinks together that sort of mimics rainfall
Mythland: I’d imagine partner dances are a very big part of their culture, and large group dances even more so. A lot of interlinking arms and Maypole style dances, because connection is very important to Mythlanders. This probably stems from the blood magic, and a major theme of Mythland blood magic is feeling connected to those around you. Mythland dances are grounded, and often done barefoot
Gilded Helianthia: Like Mythland, they have a heavy emphasis on partner dances, but group dances are less of a thing there. Duets are a large part of their culture in general. They’d dance a style similar to Irish, and their music is also in that style. Their dancing has two major styles: a down-to-earth, grounded style often done barefoot or with hard shoes, and a more lifted and airy style meant to praise the sun and mimic sunflowers
The Overgrown: The Overgrown dances are incredibly airy, they use a lot of flowing fabrics and include the fabric in their movement. Dances are always performed outside because it’s a celebration of the flowers and magic around them. Dances are often done solo as a coming of age rite. There are a series of set dances that everyone learns that are done on important days. Typically fast paced
Rivendell: Think French aristocracy, court dances. Performed with small steps on the balls of your feet, typically as a partner dance. Slow, measured, and lifted. There are very strict guidelines for how these dances are done, and are often meant to be a display of power. Ornate costumes are an important aspect of the dances
The Crystal Cliffs: Dancing is incredibly informal here, and not done often. Because the Cliffs are mainly a place of study and not a proper sovereign state, there are students from all over the world. So, styles from all different empires mix as the students share their native styles during their free time. The dance styles that have evolved here are short and quick, since students often fit them in between other things the need to do
The Grimlands: Like in Mythland, group dances are important to Grimlands culture. However, instead of dancing together, dances are done like breakdance cyphers where steps are exchanged in a turn based system. The Grimlands style stems from an older, more syncopated version of Mythland dance. It is grounded, and a major aspect of it is the way that their boots scuff across the ground to provide accents
The Undergrove: Shrub doesn’t dance much, but she tried to teach the wolves a gnome dance once. Gnome dances are known for their use of dizzying turns and focus on arm movement. It’s common to sing/play an instrument and dance at the same time, though when that occurs the steps are less complex than when one can put all their effort into just dancing. Dancing together is important to gnome culture
The Lost Empire: There are four very spiritual dances, one for each of the temples. Each has a slightly different style, but they’re not overly difficult so no one dies due to the heat of the jungle. These dances are only done by the emperor and the ones who upkeep the temple, and there are many rules surrounding these dances that apply to attire, where the dances are done, when they are done, as well as the importance of knowing why the dances are done. Secular dances focus on stomping rhythms out with your feet and a lot of improv, as well as up and down movement with the arms and torso which mimics bird wings
Mezalea: Dance isn’t a major part of Mezalean culture, since the entire population is Joel and his clones and Joel wasn’t much of a dancer. Instead, Mezalea focuses on visual art more than performing art. For the scattering of Mezaleans that do dance, dance is a means of creating art by painting the soles of their feet and dancing across a canvas or slab of terracotta with the sole purpose of creating patterns. So, Mezalean dance is categorized by the dancer dragging their feet across the floor and many repeated motions
The Ocean Empire: Dances here are very swing, there are a lot of weight shifts and partner dances where on person spins another around. Since it’s the Ocean Empire, most dance is done underwater, which leads to a very unique way of dancing that can’t be done anywhere else. Vertical height is played with a lot, as well as the use of loose clothes and long ribbons held by the dancers
The Cod Empire: The dances in the Cod Empire are quick and lively. They also use swing rhythms, as well as many dances that are meant to be performed in canons. Cod Empire dancing is very informal, and spontaneous challenges are issued from one person to another which starts off a round of dancing that may last for hours
Bonus, Mangrovia: Mangrovia is the home of refugees from all over, and the dancing reflects that. Like in the Crystal Cliffs, there is no one clear style, and instead an amalgamation of shared dances from all over. It is common for musicians from one empire to start up a song and dancers to match the feel, then another group of musicians will jump in and take over in a sort of call and response. Many people in Mangrovia know not only their native dance style, but also pick up many other styles so they can jump into any dance

I have a slight random question to ask you. How do you view the Sculk? I’ve seen some see it as a fungus of sorts or mold. (Hehe mushrooms). But I’m wondering if you see as something different?
If this goes into spoilers for anything it’s fine if you don’t answer :)
Also watching your Sovereign SMP and I love it so far :3
It acts like a mycelium system! its all connected and can retain memories and information that it can share through the system!
There's worldbuilding ive made that isnt going to be talked about explicitly, BUT its has spoilers for the last 3 chapters. so I'll have to wait until the comic is complete to tell you guys the jist of it

Horizon to Horizon AU Masterpost!
(And some Saints of Eyes and Ears AU too!)
*this is a work in progress, updates will occur sporadically as I find motivation in drawers and under my bed*
A guide to my fantasy worldbuilding alternate universe built around the Hermitcraft, Empires, Evolution, and Life Series SMPs.
Questions are always welcome, and my ask box is open!
The elevator pitch:
The sun rises, and the moon rises, and the sun sets, and the moon sets, all between the Four Horizons of the world. One to each cardinal direction, and each with it’s own continent: Equinox to the North, Solstice to the south. Sunrise to the East, Sunset to the West. Civilizations rule the Land of the Sunrise, the Birthplace of Day and Night. Empires rule the Land of the Sunset, the Resting Place of Day and Night. Hermits and Emperors make peace and war, trade and explore, live and die and make merry in this First Dimension. The Second, the Nether Below, and the Third, the End Above, are lands of danger ripe for discovery. The lands to the north and south, however… who knows what’s over there, leagues past the vanishing point of plain sight?
More in-depth stuff below the cut! Fair warning, ‘tis very long.
What is the Horizon to Horizon AU?
The Horizon to Horizon AU, or more simply Horizons AU, is an alternate universe fusion containing the characters within the Hermitcraft SMP, Empires SMP, and Evolution, or Evo SMP. It is a high-to-mid fantasy setting, with some sci-fi elements when it comes to redstone.
Fics set in this au, in-universe chronological order:
- Among the mountains of everlong, a story about the Stronghold War (3,451 words, unfinished, on hiatus)
- Cracking like a dry branch in a westward wind, a story about newcomers and old debts (24,980 words, finished!)
- A kindling, of sorts, fluff and banter and all that jazz (3,423 words, unfinished)
- Legend has it that the moss grows on the north side of the trees, or, 2023 Hermittober Chapters, a story about crime and conspiracy (12,875 words, finished but I haven’t uploaded them all yet)
- Give me back my heart, you wingless thing, a story about prophecies and past tragedies (25,025 words, unfinished, a good ways along, currently working on this one)
- We’ll sing a song of days gone by, a story about the forgotten history that ties Horizons to the Saints of Eyes and Ears (unpublished, hammering it out in private at the moment)
Who’s who in this universe?
Between the Horizons, there are two major groups: the Hermits of the Sunrise, and the Emperors of the Sunset. This AU was made during Season 9 of Hermitcraft and Season 2 of Empires, and more specifically was born from a question that came into my mind during the crossover event: What would happen if the Hermits were tasked with ruling nations, like Emperors?
The emperors are pretty much doing the same thing they usually do: ruling empires. But the hermits are split into two main camps: those active in the crossover, who I arbitrarily chose to rule their own civilizations (as having a civilization for each hermit would be… some nonsense), and those not active in the crossover, who live among the civilizations, but do not rule. A full list of Hermits and who they are in alphabetical order follows:
- BdoubleO: The Lord Bee Double Oh of the Moss Throne, moss-faerie, ruler of Livingstone
- cubfan135: The Sovereign Cub Fan Voidstars of the Red Rock Crown, half-vex infected with sculk, ruler of Climbing Spires

- Keralis: The Mayor Keralis of the Blue Ice Crown, wolf-folk, ruler of Iceberg Metropolis

And the Emperors of the Sunset, too:
- fwhip: The Duke Fwhip of the Icicle Throne, polar-bear-folk, ruler of Glacier Way
- Jimmy Solidarity: The Trailblazer Jimmy of the Throne of Dust, horse-folk, ruler of Frontier
- Joey Graceffa: The Lord Protector of the Petal Crown, sniffer-folk, ruler of Paradise Mountain
- Katherine Elizabeth: The Maiden Queen Katherine Elizabeth of the Powder Snow Throne, human, ruler of Skytouch
- LDShadowLady: The Lady-Defender Lizzie Shadow-Lady of the Glowing Crown, firefly-faerie, ruler of The Waterways
- MythicalSausage: The Guardian-Emperor Mythical Sausage of the Underthrone, human, ruler of The Thicket
- Pixlriffs: The Emperor Pixl Rifra of the Verdant Crown, parrot-folk, ruler of The Emerald Lands
- Scott Smajor: The Emperor Scott S. Major of the Gilded Crown, half-husk, ruler of Solis
- SmallishBeans: The King Joel S. Beans of the Ivory Crown, goat-folk, ruler of Undermoon (an Emperor in this AU)
- Shubble: The Great Librarían Shubble Shade-Stander of the Copper Throne, fox-folk, ruler of Great Aurora
- TheOrionSound: The Marcher-Lord Oli Sounder of the Crown of Grasses, llama-folk, ruler of Cross-Country
Also kicking around are the members of the Evolution SMP, who are not hermits or emperors, most of whose characters are not entirely fleshed out as of writing. Their descriptions will be updated later, and all are parrot-folk:
- MiniMuka, technomancer
- InTheLittleWood, diplomat and brother to Grian
- Nettyplays
- bigbst4
- SalemsLady, Sensor Systems Operator
- Tomohawk
- systemzee
- Taurtis/Joeyish, Shrieker Systems Operator
And what is the Saints of Eyes and Ears AU?
The Saints of Eyes and Ears AU is… sort of its own thing, and sort of a part of Horizons. It is a retelling of the events of the Life Series SMP through a semi-historical, semi-legendary lens as the cosmology/history of a religion known as Livolutionism. It is mostly based on the history-legends of Christianity, more specifically Catholicism, as that religion is the one I am most familiar with.
The elevator pitch:
In the time before time, when the world was small and the gods were close, an endless line of descendants of descendants lived and died under a sky full of eyes. Saints and sinners, lovers and enemies, bitter rivals and soulbound comrades have lived a thousand lives beneath the watchful gaze of the angels above, and demons below. But what an angel or devil is up to interpretation, as are their opaque intentions.
This will probably get its own post later down the line.
Okay, what are those legends?
The events of the various installments of the life series are collected into various books, which are self-contained tales that each follow a specific Saint, the winner of that particular installment, and the world and people that grow and flourish and crumble and die around them. The books and their Saints are as follows:
- The Book of Thirds, surrounding the life of the Saint Grian of the Desert Sun and the Red Winter War
- The Book of Lasts, surrounding the life of the Saint Scott of the Endless Stars and the Trickery of the Boogymen
- The Book of Doubles, surrounding the life of the Saint Pearl of the Shadowed Moon and the Bonds of the Soulmates
- The Book of Limits, surrounding the life of the Saint Martyn of the Stained Mars and the Chaos of the Clock
- The Book of Secrets, surrounding the life of the Saint Scar of the Blooming Earth and the Keeper’s Whispered Words
- The Real Book, a disputed scripture, surrounding the life of the Saint Cleo of the Fading Comet and the Repeating Lives

You know what's my biggest pet peeve about empires smp?their empires aren't even empires
They're kingdoms
Empires definition "an extensive group of states or countries ruled over by a single monarch, an oligarchy, or a sovereign state."
Yoooooo, that's so true! Them theatre kids really wanted to be silly and quirky and decided on the name they thought had more pizazz

This is Felix, he’s the little guy I have been playing for a year now on the Valence SMP, a mc rp server. Drawing this I really realized how both of us have grown in the past year. Felix whent from Felix Oleander, the little nerd archeologist who kept his head down and did his best. Into Warden Felix O. Stellamaris, Gilded Guard Captain, The royal tailor of Stendhal, the holder of the chisel of life, royal sovereign holder. He has worked so hard and has grown so much. And then there is me, this past year on valence has given me new skills and outright confidence in myself. It’s given me so many new friends and I don’t know what I would do without them all. It was my 19th birthday yesterday and I couldn’t help but look back at all I’ve done and be proud of me, my art, and how far I’ve come. Here is to another year of life and silly block game RP.

“Do you really think Technoblade will come help us? Someone he abandoned? I bet he doesn’t even remember your name.” “That’s not true,” Tommy all but whispers. “He answers my letters sometimes.”
Wilbur laughs humorlessly. He takes Tommy by the arm and drags him to the balcony, pointing at the ten foot marble Wilbur Soot. “Who is that? Who do you see, Toms?”
“You. It’s you!” Tommy says, pulling his arm away from Wilbur’s vulturous grasp.
“That’s right, Tommy, it’s me. I’m the one protecting L’manberg. I oversee it and love it and protect it."

Hickory,
The Sovereign of Creeperwoods.
The being known as Hickory is truly ancient, having been born into a shattered and broken realm before creation itself. They are the first of the Mossfolk, a race of sentient creepers, and founder of countless civilizations. Yet for all their efforts, no realm of their's shall last eternal. This is because they are stricken with a curse from their primordial homeland. This curse is an instability of reality which causes the ancient tyrant to randomly be dragged into new and unpredictable world. Without their guiding hand their masterworks all fall to ruins and memorials to ages long forgotten eventually.
Currently they reside deep within the northern woodlands of a world called Chronicle. Here is where their current story unfolds. They by chance have taken on stewardship of a young drake, and now find their days consumed with ruling their territory, caring for the drake, and navigating the confusing web of gods and mortals that exist within this world.

Dream SMP Recap (May 18/2021) - The L’Sandburg Deal
A “lore stream” from George takes an unexpected turn, and Foolish finally confronts L’Sandburg, taking up Bad’s offer to meet about a possible sale to end things peacefully.

- George starts walking to the prison. Tommy tells him in chat to turn around as he asks why the prison is so big to contain only one person
- Tommy says George told him he wanted to do this today, asking if he still wants to
- George starts following Tommy down the Prime Path and Tommy tells him to take the blood from the path. He says this is real, not a time for primes
- Tommy tells him they need to go get the Nightmare armor from Tubbo and asks how George is feeling. George isn’t feeling well
- Then he tells George no armor, then tells Tubbo to prepare the battle stations
- They run to Snowchester, Tommy says “nukes” in chat
- Tubbo is standing there holding a rosebush. George asks why he’s holding them, but Tommy says there’s no time as Tubbo leads them to the Snowchester vault with Dream’s armor. George takes it
- George looks at the camera and says it’s time to go and kill Dream
- Suddenly, Tommy joins VC and pulls down the green screen to reveal that this wasn’t a lore stream but a meetup, and Jack, Tubbo and Niki are also all there!
The stream immediately ends.
- Later, Sapnap and Karl hang out with Drista for a bit
- Bad hangs out with Sapnap and Karl (in VC) in L’Sandburg. Sam comes over and accuses Bad of smacking his butt
- Bad and Karl talk some more before Karl eventually leaves the call and Foolish arrives in L’Sandburg. It’s time to do some lore to decide the fate of L’Sandburg!
- Foolish orders Bad to tear down the walls and Bad says he wants to sell L’Sandburg to Foolish. Soon, though, Sam comes over to interrupt. As the warden, Sam is here to oversee the conflict.
- Foolish tells Sam to put Bad in prison for taking his land, but Sam reminds Foolish that Bad is one of the guards. He was just coming over to tell Bad he’s on duty tonight
- Bad shows Sam L’Sandburg, and Sam likes it. Karl interrupts in VC. Bad explains to Sam the extent of L’Sandburg’s territory and Corpse Husband joins the call to apologize that he can’t make the lore stream
- Foolish tells Sam he built the obsidian walls to restrict their expansion, but Sam says by doing so, Foolish sanctified L’Sandburg’s status as a separate territory, and Sam is the keeper of law on the server. He believes that L’Sandburg is independent
- They push Foolish out of L’Sandburg territory and Bad explains to Sam and Foolish that he wants to sell the toll gate but keep the L’Sandburg tower
- Foolish offers a stack of leather and a stack of bamboo, but Bad doesn’t accept the offer. Sam considers buying it -- he’s making a bank and needs a steady form of income for it
- Sam offers Bad seven diamond blocks. After much bargaining, Foolish offers seven diamond blocks and steak. Sam offers steak for free, then Foolish increases to eight blocks, then ten.
- Sam backs down, and Bad asks Foolish what he would do if he bought L’Sandburg. Foolish would tear it down
- Sam would have to enforce the tollgate, but he says he can divvy up his time between the prison and watching L’Sandburg. Bad would rather take Sam’s offer, and Sam says he wants to make it much bigger -- all the way to block limit
- Foolish protests. Bad asks Foolish to reimburse him materials and they accuse Foolish of vandalizing signs.
- Bad says he’d be willing to accept Foolish’s offer of ten blocks if Bad owns the tower. Foolish says the tower belongs to Foolish and not Bad, and Bad disagrees and rejects the offer. Sam says the toll will be a diamond block now
- Foolish walks around the wall and Sam attacks him, saying he bypassed the toll
- Bad makes his offer again. If he owns the tower, he would get all vertical space included in the chunk, and he wants nothing less than full ownership
- Sam positions himself as a neutral third party. Foolish shows Sam the books. If Bad owns the tower, he would put a toll on the chunk of land
- Bad is concerned that since Foolish would own the land outside his tower, Foolish might box him in. Foolish agrees that he wouldn’t disrupt Bad’s line of sight from the tower and Bad gets a buffer zone
- They agree on the deal and Bad gets the ten diamond blocks, Bad confirming L’Sandburg is a country. Bad gives Sam his “cut” of five diamond blocks
- Foolish asks what Bad means, his “cut.” Sam was supposed to be a third party! Sam says good day and leaves Bad and Foolish to start taking down the walls, Foolish unhappy
- Sam whispers to Bad:
DON’T BACK DOWN ON THIS YOU WANTED TO DO IT. REMEMBER QUACKITY SAID THIS WAS A GOOD THING FOR BUSINESS.
- Bad agrees with Sam and continues to work. He’s pleased. Every nation has to start somewhere, and he now has what he wanted the most: acknowledgement as a sovereign entity
- Bad wants there to be no hard feelings, so he gives Foolish the five remaining diamond blocks he has as payment and apologizes for everything. He explains that on that one day, when he was standing on that one spot...he realized he just really wanted it
- The problem, he goes on, is that you can’t just “pick up a spot” and carry it to “a chest in a secret location.” Now he has it!
- Foolish asks what happens when somebody else decides that they too can claim it. Bad says when that day comes, they can fight together as neighbors! L’Sandburg is like an embassy
Foolish: “Wait wait wait a second -- am I talking to former Eggboyhalo or is this a slightly different Badboyhalo?”
Bad: “No, this is past the Egg arc.”
- Just then, Bad gets a message from Skeppy. He’s confused that Skeppy is messaging him that Foolish took him prisoner and won’t release him until he gives up L’Sandburg. Bad demands Foolish explain, and Foolish lets slip that there was a plan to kidnap Skeppy
- Foolish tries to explain that it was just backup in case Bad had an evil plan up his sleeve. Bad shouts at Foolish, asking where Skeppy is
Foolish: “I should tell you something...Skeppy said he was getting tired of living with you.”
Bad: “...”
Foolish: “He said he needed a break, so I was gonna offer him a vacation.”
Bad: “...You take that back.”
- Until Foolish returns Skeppy to Bad, Bad declares war. Foolish doesn’t know where Skeppy is, as it was an unmarked location. Bad is horrified and immediately goes searching all over for him
- Foolish reminds Bad that Bad tried to kidnap Finley, but Bad says he gave Finley back safe and sound
- Bad gets another message from Skeppy saying he’s cold and hungry. Foolish says it’s just a prank, and he has Tall Mama instead. Bad goes to leave
- Foolish asks if they’ll still be able to be friendly neighbors
Bad: “I hope so, Foolish...”
- As a token of friendship, Foolish hands Bad the decorative button from the now-torn-down L’Sandburg tollgate
- Bad heads back through the Nether, looking down from the bridge into the lava and calling for Skeppy. He walks down the Prime Path, saying he was sorry for going off and making L’Sandburg
Bad: “I know things didn’t go the best with the whole Egg thing, but come on...”
- He makes it to the mansion and sees the poster of the shark with its butt out. It’s the ransom note
- He searches through the mansion. L’Sandburg was supposed to be a place where he and Skeppy could hang out together...
He keeps calling for Skeppy but there’s no answer, and the screen cuts to black.
---
Afterwards, Bad does a brief lore QnA:
- L’Sandburg canonically takes place after the final Egg stream, which Bad says is going to have “a doozy of an ending,” and he “doesn’t want to make you guys too sad.”
- All the L’Sandburg lore was on the fly. Nothing (except for Skeppy getting kidnapped) was planned, it’s all unscripted and fun
- People will either love or hate the next Egg lore stream. It’s going to be crazy
- There is one more stream that will wrap up the Egg lore and “set everything in motion.”
- He says you do not want to miss it. Bad will announce the date before it’s time
- A dono asks, if the Egg lore is setting stuff up, is it taking a break and coming back later?
“Coming back later? You’ll see. It’s gonna be interesting. You’ll see.”
---
Upcoming Events:
- The final Egg lore stream
- Foolish’s date
- Quackity’s business opening
- Quackity’s next lore stream
- Tales From the SMP: “Space Race”
- Ponk’s lore stream
- Dream’s lore video
- Sapnap’s possible lore stream
- Awesamdude lore stream
