Misc. Peeta Mellark Headcanons
warnings: fluff, gender-neutral reader.
length: 1k || read on ao3 || join my taglist
notes: just a lil something to help me get back into the swing of things after not writing for a while! hope you enjoy ’em, even though it’s a bit short.
Never hesitates to give you his jacket or sweater if he sees you’re cold. He pretends not to notice that the clothes he gives you never return to his closet.
When he kisses you, he always cups your face in his hands, thumbs stroking your cheekbones.
You had no idea just how much one person could bake before you met him. It seems like you get a new baked good every other day. Cupcakes, themed cakes, loaves of sourdough bread, muffins, pasta, you name it, and it’s probably on his list to bake for you.
Peeta loves teaching you how to draw/paint!! He’ll sit outside with you on a nice day and walk you through how to draw a frog or something else simple. By sunset, both papers are filled edge to edge with stick frogs, flowers, hearts, and sad-looking deer. Peeta dates both sheets and leaves cute little notes next to some of your drawings for you to find later.
Most of his own paintings are of you. Some are posed, and some are candid. The candid ones are Peeta’s favorite. You get his favorite portrait framed as a birthday present, and he nearly cries when he opens it. Before you could ask if he liked it, he kissed you, then kissed all over your face, where you both erupted with giggles.
This boy is so stupidly adorable it has to be some form of disease. You’ll catch him sitting across from you with a lovesick smile, his blond hair illuminated by the setting sun he loves so much. You tease him about it, making him blush, which only makes him all the cuter.
At the start of your relationship, Peeta had little self-worth/confidence in himself. He didn’t have much to offer you in terms of money or pretty clothes, but he soon realized you didn’t care about any of that. You like him for him, not for what you could gain from him.
If he’s forced to pick just one thing, Peeta’s favorite part about your body is your hands. Why’re they his favorite? Because that’s one of the main ways you show your love for him. Holding his hands, cupping his face, cooking meals, smoothing them across his chest, that kinda stuff.
He would hug you all day, every day, if he could. This man is a hugger to beat all huggers.
Peeta wants to start a family with you, whatever that family ends up looking like. Just you, him, and a few pets? A-okay with him. A child or two? Count him in! As long as Peeta gets to spend the rest of his life with you, he’s happy, no matter what it looks like.
Definitely uses pet names like “honey,” “sweetheart,” and “my love.”
This man never not has a smile on his face. You’ll catch him staring at you from his seat in the living room with the stupidest, lovesick grin spread across his features as he watches you do whatever it is you’re doing.
When Peeta plans on proposing, he organizes an entire day of fun activities for both of you. He knows exactly how he wants to propose: in a gazebo, hidden by the blanket of night, illuminated only by the mood lighting he set up the day before. But it never ends up happening. The two of you were dancing in the living room to your record player, nose to nose, pressed so close to one another he couldn’t tell where he ended and where you began. As he swayed, Peeta whispered, “will you marry me?” It wasn’t what he had planned, but the outcome was exactly what he had hoped.
He’s not the biggest partaker of PDA, but he’s not averse to it. He’ll hold your hand, kiss your cheek, that kinda stuff, but he won’t make it obvious or rub it in other people’s faces.
Peeta’s very hard to anger, so he’s great to vent to. He’ll always be up for listening to your problems and helping you fix them if that’s what you want. If you just need someone to listen and not try to resolve whatever you’re upset about, he’s perfect for that too.
Peeta starts a garden full of your favorite flowers. Once they grow tall and bloom, he picks them to make a bouquet for you.
At night, he has to be touching you in some way or form to be able to fall asleep. Holding hands, you sleeping on his chest, spooning, you name it. He needs to know you’re still there so he can allow himself to relax enough.
Peeta gets up before you, so he loves to wake you up with kisses. Rapid fire against your cheeks, forehead, nose, the palm of your hand, up your arm, basically anywhere he can reach.
When it comes to Valentine’s Day (objectively his favorite day, minus your anniversary), he surprises you with breakfast in bed and fresh homemade muffins. There are fresh-cut roses in a new vase on the dining room table, and the entire house is deep-cleaned from top to bottom. Lunch is a picnic under an old weeping willow tree, followed by cloud gazing. He cooked you your favorite meal, making enough for leftovers. Later, he gifts you a portrait he painted of you in secret. It showed you, facing away from the viewer, sitting on the porch swing, watching the sun set below the rolling hills of District 12. When it’s time for dinner, Peeta cooks a classic romantic meal: spaghetti with meatballs by candlelight. The day was the definition of perfect; everything he surprised you with made you fall in love with him all over again.
Throughout Valentine’s Day, Peeta kisses you almost every chance he can get. You look too damn beautiful not to kiss. You don’t look any different than yesterday, and you won’t look any different in the days to come, but none of that matters to him. Your beauty never fails to floor him, and today was no exception.

ARC 1: 01
IMPORTANT: To get the best reading experience from my novel, please read with Light Mode ON.
The bakery was quiet, save for the soft hum of the ovens. Warm light from old sconces brushed the walls, softening their worn appearance.
It was charming, in its own way, though the cracks in the tiles and the peeling paint proved that charm didn't always pay the bills.
She leaned against the counter, chin in hand, and stared at the clock for what felt like the hundredth time that hour.
Tick.
Tock.
Each second crawled by as if the universe had decided to toy with her patience. Her braid was a mess, and her apron—full of flour and smudged chocolate—hung loose over her faded hoodie and leggings.
"Romantic baker" was the image she'd once imagined. "Tired and overworked baker" was the reality.
"Why did I think opening a bakery would be a good idea?" she muttered to herself. Her voice was low, almost drowned out by the ticking of the clock.
No one was here to answer her anyway.
She sighed, letting her gaze drift to the display case. Four croissants sat there, lonely and unloved, their crust now a little dull under the lights. Beside them, muffins and cookies waited patiently, but were just left to rot in the corner of the display case. Even the sourdough loaf looked sad.
She'd baked less and less recently, trying to save on ingredients. But it didn't matter; no one came.
Her chest tightened as she stared at the pastries, imagining them whispering their disappointment. "No one loves us," the croissants would sigh. "We worked so hard to look this good," the muffins would whimper. And the sourdough... well, it didn't need to say anything.
With a soft sigh, Y/N stepped forward and leaned over the display case. She pressed her cheeks and forehead against the cool glass, letting her breath fog up a small patch as she stared at the pastries from above.
"I'm sorry," she murmured, her voice quiet. "I know you were all made to sit pretty and be eaten... but, it's just us again tonight, huh?"
She imagined the pastries responding in small, sad voices. "It's okay, Y/N," they'd say. "We'll go home with you again."
"I don't know how much longer we can keep doing this," she whispered, her lips twitching in a bittersweet smile. "This relationship won't last... (◞ ‸ ◟) "
Out of the corner of her eye, she caught movement outside the window. Startled, she straightened up quickly, her hands smoothing down her apron.
A customer?
She glanced at the figure passing by, doing her best to act casual.
But the shadow didn't stop. It just kept walking, disappearing down the street as if the bakery wasn't even there. Her smile faded just as quickly, her shoulders slumping in defeat.
She leaned back against the counter, propping her elbows on the edge for support, her eyes drifting back to the display case.
"Well," she said softly, her tone more resigned now, "looks like it's just us after all. Again." Her fingers brushed against her cheek as she dramatically wiped away an invisible tear.
Get a grip, Y/N.
She gave herself a small shake. It wasn't like sulking would make customers appear. Her gaze flicked to the garbage bag near the back door. Normally, she waited until closing to take it out, but tonight, she was bored out of her mind.
Grabbing the bag, she shuffled toward the door. The soles of her sneakers scuffed the floor, the sound oddly loud in the quiet bakery. The doorknob was cold under her fingers as she pushed it open, stepping out into the narrow alley behind the shop.
"Just toss the bag and go back inside," she murmured, her breath forming tiny clouds in the air.
The alley was dimly lit, the flickering streetlamp casting jagged shadows across the uneven pavement. Y/N quickened her pace, the garbage bag swinging lightly in her grip.
She just needed to get to the dumpster, and then—
A muffled sound stopped her in her tracks. Her heart stuttered. She froze, clutching the bag tighter, her ears straining. The alley had always been eerily quiet at night, but now the silence felt heavy, almost suffocating. She swallowed, trying to convince herself it was nothing.
Probably a cat.
Definitely a cat.
Her pace quickened, her footsteps echoing against the walls, amplifying the quiet in an almost unsettling way. The tension in the air made her feel breathless, as if the night itself was holding its breath. Her mind wandered to those moments when you would turn off the lights in a hallway, and the irrational fear that a monster might be lurking just behind you.
"Toss it in... Toss it in... ," she chanted to herself, her grip tightening on the garbage bag as she approached the dumpster.
The alley felt thick with silence, and her heart sped up as she swung the garbage bag toward the dumpster, eager to finish the task and head back inside.
But instead of the expected thud of the bag landing inside, there was a muffled thwack, followed by a low, pained grunt.
"Ow..."

I need some healthy snack ideas if you don't mind.
Mhmm, a really good one is roasting your own nuts! I've done it with cashews and almonds but lately I've been into pecans - soaking them in a bowl with water and salt for several hours, up to 12 hours, then leaving them in the oven at 150 or as low as yours will go for at least 8 hours. Or you can just buy nuts "raw" or "dry-roasted" and add your own salt and/or olive oil whenever you can't roast them yourself.
I also really like MASA chips - they're fried in tallow. Whenever I let someone try them they like them! They're a bit of a pain because they're rare in stores, you have to order them, and they're not cheap, but I find it worth it to subscribe.
Another chip brand that you're more likely to find in stores is Siete, and I like to get their avocado oil-fried blue chips.
For crackers, I'm starting to exclusively use Rustic Bakery sourdough olive oil crackers, they're delicious and extremely simple, lacking a lot of the ingredients that make most crackers (such an innocuous-sounding snack, we've been so deceived!) really unhealthy. Stonewall Kitchen also has some crackers that are seed oil-free.
I also like to try protein balls whenever I see them at a coffee shop, everyone seems to have their own recipe, they're a good satisfying snack. I've been trying to copy them on my own but (to me at least) they're more challenging than they look. Lately, I've been making muffins using bananas, apple cider, whole organic spelt flour, copious amounts of cinnamon (and the standard egg, baking soda, baking powder, salt, vanilla extract, butter) and getting very positive responses! I've also been making gluten-free, incidentally vegan cookies with pure peanut butter, coconut oil, and oatmeal.

I had a batch of sourdough sandwich bread go horribly wrong, and the worst part was: it was a double batch. So for days, I suffered the fear that the second loaf would likely have the same issues, also knowing that each passing day reduced the sourdough's liveliness.
After the second loaf turned out disappointingly, I needed a win. I needed some quicker satisfaction. I decided to try sourdough discard English muffins with instant yeast.
This was my first time making English muffins (and first time eating fresh, non-commercial ones). I wasn't quite sure how they were supposed to turn out: dense, airy, tasty, bland, dry?
I used a mix of whole wheat and all purpose -flours (about 1/3 whole wheat), which resulted in a somewhat dense muffin. I'm not entirely sold on the idea of cooking these on a griddle: I'm certain they'd bake more evenly in an oven--but I think the instant gratification would be reduced.
Anyway. The muffins turned out well enough. But I really liked them toasted: the exterior became crispy while the interior remained fluffy--even if torn apart before toasting!
So to convince my (spartan, minimalist, definitely-not-a-morning-person) partner to do the extra step of toasting them, I made a cute sign.

It’s a party in the U.S.A. with star-spangled banners set to wave and fireworks ready to burst in air for Independence Day next Thursday, July 4th. What better way to celebrate the land of the free and home of the brave than by supporting our regional farmers and local food producers this weekend? In keeping with this patriotic spirit, here is a foursome (naturally!) of iconic Fourth of July holiday dishes to serve up using a bounty of fresh, seasonal ingredients from your Down to Earth farmers market. Creamy, Tangy Potato Salad Classic potato salad pairs handsomely with just about every Fourth of July main dish from hotdogs to burgers to barbecued chicken and everything in between. This tasty recipe delivers plenty of creaminess, savory crunch and a dash of brightness via a soupcon of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Ingredients
3 lbs Great Joy Family Farm Yukon Gold potatoes, cut into 1/2" pieces
1 small Lanis Farm red onion, finely chopped
¼ cup chopped Dr. Pickle dill pickles
4 hardboiled SOVA Farms eggs, chopped
¼ cup thinly sliced Great Joy Family Farm chives
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
1 ½ cup mayonnaise
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
½ tsp paprika
Freshly ground black pepper
Kosher salt
Authentic Greek Salad Now is the moment to indulge in salads galore to squeeze every juicy drop out of the growing season while it lasts. Thanks to the ongoing heatwave, an abundance of summer produce–including field-grown tomatoes, bell peppers and traditional cucumbers–has matured a couple of weeks early. These sun-ripened goodies are arriving at farmstalls in droves just in time for the July 4th holiday.
This authentic Greek salad captures the irresistible taste of summer in a bowl. Plus, you can easily source the bulk of its ingredients at the farmers market:
1 medium Lanis Farm red onion, thinly sliced into half moons
4 medium juicy Newgate Farms tomatoes, sliced into bite-sized pieces or wedges
1 Newgate Farms English cucumber, partially peeled to make a striped pattern and sliced into half moons
1 Lanis Farm green bell pepper, cored and sliced into rings
1 handful Dr. Pickle Kalamata olives
¼ cup Kontoulis Olive Oil extra virgin olive oil
1-2 tbsps red wine vinegar
1 (7 ounce) block Maplebrook Farm feta cheese in brine, torn into slabs
1 ½ tsps Kontoulis Olive Oil dried oregano
Kosher salt
Smashing Smash Burgers Smash burgers have become all the rage in recent years! A smash burger is made by smashing a ball of ground beef onto a grill or skillet with a spatula to produce a thinner, crispier patty that fans proclaim to be far tastier than a traditional burger. Patties are often double- or triple-stacked and served with melted cheese and caramelized onions. Make your July 4th cookout a smashing success by picking up sweet onions from the farmstalls and pastured ground beef to give this smash burger recipe a whirl. Don’t forget to grab some classic burger buns from the bread vendors too. Patriotic Puddings It’s a berry good idea to top off your holiday with a red, white and blue-themed fruit salad made with locally grown strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries and apples from the farmstalls. This patriotically fun recipe features star-shaped apple cutouts, mixed berries and a honey lime poppy seed dressing. And now, a Berry Important Holiday PSA: Black raspberries are currently available from Newgate Farms so scoop up some of these deliciously hard-to-find, dark flavored beauties while you can as they have a very short-lived season. Of course, our baked goods vendors will bring plenty of ready-made treats for your festivities. Catch Little Bit O' Love Bakery’s July 4th vibes with their gluten-free, dairy-free blueberry muffins and their regular favorites including sourdough, focaccia, and pain au chocolat. Plus, they now offer gluten-free bagels so be sure to try this newly launched menu item that comes in plain, everything, and cinnamon raisin. And that’s a wrap on our all-American holiday edition. We wish you a very happy Independence Day and look forward to seeing you in the markets this weekend.

i am not my body
being this weird. meeting of so many disabilities and being queer on top of it has done some really fucky things to my identity and concept of self.
My thoughts on what makes someone who they are as an identity is that it's all choice. You are who you CHOOSE to be. You decide if you like or dislike something, from things as simple to taste in music, all the way up to where you stand on global current events. (I'm not getting into any of that right now, that is not the point of this post.)
Like, who I am in as much as who I have decided to be is someone that tries really hard to make a positive impact on the lives around me. I try to compliment people if I see something worth complimenting, like an outfit or makeup or how they've done their hair. I try to smile when I accidentally meet eyes with a stranger. I try, very hard actually, to be a force of what I perceive as 'good' in the world.
Take that, and wrap it up in also all the choices that make up taking care of myself. I want to be able to have a positive impact on the lives around me, and to do that, I have to be a minimal type of functional. I need to eat or my body breaks down. I need a social life or my mind breaks down, etc etc.
But then you throw in these things that people see as me but are not choices: I did not choose to have adhd. I did not choose depression, or anxiety, or ptsd or the events that lead to it, I did not choose to have a body so full of errors in the code that it is literally falling apart.
So I have this disconnect from who I am and what my body is like. My body isn't me because my body wasn't my choice. There are things I can do to change parts of it, but I can't fix that I have a genetic disorder that said 'hey fuck your connective tissues.' or that my body will attack my intestines if I eat gluten.
I accept that my body is mine, in as much as it is the only way I have to interact with the universe, but it isn't me. I use it to move around, I use it to converse and create, but it's a tool. People see it and assume they see me, but I really don't feel like they do.
I look at my body and see something to hate, something that hurts and moves incorrectly sometimes and does things it shouldn't. I see an identity that people have assigned to me, but not myself.
I feel like other people look at my body and see things that they assume is me. They don't feel the way it malfunctions, they don't know that I can feel my knees grinding together with every step, they aren't in my head when the brain fog kicks in.
It's infuriating because they're using the same senses as me to determine the correct and polite ways to address me, but it really does feel like they're talking to the body, and not me. They see the body as part of who I am, and that's not their fault.
But I am not my body. I'm just the pilot. I don't understand what makes people feel like a gender, fuck, I don't even understand what gender is. I know it's an important part of identity and that people feel very strongly about it, but I have no real way to work the idea in my head. Gender feels like such a body thing.
It feels easier to think of it as a meat mech I have to keep functional as my only point of interacting with the universe at large, something that enables me to take in information.
I didn't really have anywhere I was going with this other than 'im agender because i identify as literally anything other than the meat of my physical form, because i am the choices i've made and the actions I commit myself to and not the broken down form that is my only way to interact with the world' in this weird overlap between disabilities and queer-ness.
and it can't even eat normal bread. like. c'mon. you're going to make me deal with all that AND take away sourdough english muffins? what the fuck.
#disability#lgbtq#rendom thoughts#hrhrhrhrhghrgh im so tired okay#between the heds and fibro and adhd and depression and anxiety and pcos and celiac#it's just a lot and i kinda had a total mental breakdown abt it the other day#i have to finally admit that no i cannot do this i cannot be a normal human person#because my body is falling apart and fucking up its signals and i can't do a goddamned thing about it#and my brain is full of fucked up wiring and shit too so it's not like i could even say my thought processes are normal#anyway it's fine im fine (i am not fine)

Wood Fired Pizza with Tomato Base: A Classic Recipe with a Modern Twist
Pizza is one of the most popular and beloved dishes in the world, and for good reason. It’s versatile, customizable, and delicious. One of the most traditional ways to make pizza is with a tomato base, and cooking it in a wood-fired oven is a classic method that’s been around for centuries. However, as times change, so do our tastes and preferences, and modern twists on classic recipes are becoming increasingly popular. In this article, we’ll explore the art of making wood-fired pizza with a tomato base, and how you can give it a modern twist.
First, let’s talk about the history of pizza. Pizza originated in Naples, Italy in the 18th century, and was made with a simple tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and fresh basil. It was traditionally cooked in a wood-fired oven, which gave it its signature charred crust and smoky flavor. Today, pizza is enjoyed all over the world, and there are countless variations of the classic recipe.
When it comes to making wood-fired pizza with a tomato base, there are a few key things to keep in mind. First and foremost, the quality of your ingredients will make a huge difference in the final product. Use fresh, ripe tomatoes for your sauce, and opt for high-quality mozzarella cheese. If possible, use a wood-fired oven to cook your pizza, as this will give it the best flavor and texture. However, if you don’t have access to a wood-fired oven, a regular oven will do just fine.
Now, let’s talk about some modern twists on this classic recipe. One of the easiest ways to put a modern spin on wood-fired pizza with a tomato base is by experimenting with different toppings. Traditional toppings like pepperoni, mushrooms, and olives are always delicious, but why not try something new? Some unique topping ideas include:
Arugula and prosciutto: Top your pizza with fresh arugula and thinly sliced prosciutto for a flavorful and elegant twist.
Grilled veggies: Grill up some zucchini, eggplant, and peppers, and use them as toppings for your pizza. This is a great way to add some extra nutrition to your meal.
Pesto: Swap out your tomato sauce for pesto, and top your pizza with fresh tomatoes and mozzarella for a deliciously different flavor.
BBQ sauce: Use BBQ sauce instead of tomato sauce, and top your pizza with grilled chicken, onions, and peppers for a smoky and flavorful twist.
Another way to modernize your wood-fired pizza is by playing around with the crust. While the classic Neapolitan crust is delicious, there are many other types of crusts you can try. For example:
Cauliflower crust: Use cauliflower rice instead of flour to make a low-carb and gluten-free crust.
Whole wheat crust: Use whole wheat flour instead of white flour for a healthier and heartier crust.
Sourdough crust: Use sourdough starter instead of yeast to make a tangy and flavorful crust.
Gluten-free crust: Use a gluten-free flour blend to make a crust that’s safe for those with gluten sensitivities.
Finally, don’t be afraid to get creative with your presentation. While a traditional round pizza is always delicious, there are many other ways to serve your pizza. Try making mini pizzas in muffin tins, or cutting your pizza into fun shapes like hearts or stars. You can even make a pizza roll-up by spreading your toppings on a sheet of dough, rolling it up, and slicing it into bite-sized pieces.
In conclusion, wood-fired pizza with a tomato base is a classic recipe that’s been around for centuries, and for good reason. It’s simple, delicious, and versatile. However, by putting a modern twist on this classic dish, you can take it to the next level and create something truly unique and exciting. Whether it’s experimenting with different toppings, using high-quality ingredients, or adding a new flavor profile, there are many ways to make your wood-fired pizza stand out from the crowd. So, next time you’re in the mood for pizza, why not try a new twist on an old favorite? You may be surprised at how much of a difference a little creativity can make.

Omg I love this! (And sparked an idea that helped jostle out some writers block so THANK YOU OP! you have no idea how much this helped!)
And ty @orangekittyenergy for gathering us Galemancers so we can weight in!
So, here we go! My HC for Gale's breakfast in bed 🥰
Blorbo: Gale, of course
He definitely prefers Tea, with a touch of honey and a splash of milk or cream (he doesn't want to mask the tea's natural flavors too much.)
Juice? I imagine he would have something like orange juice, or grape juice. IF we are going by the meta that Gale is Greek-coded then Waterdeep is at least some sort of Mediterranean which means these fruits would be local to the area, and this would be something he prides himself on. Sure, it's only juice, but everything from Waterdeep is superior to anything else in his mind.
I think he'd like his eggs poached with a side of toast. Like a seedless rye or a sourdough. The eggs have to have the delicate, ribbony, custardy yolk (not runny and snotty looking lol). Perfect for dipping his toast into.
He would also want that with a large muffin (blueberry perhaps? Idk why) or even a croissant. I think he'd also have a side of bacon. Everything has to be a perfect balance of sweet and salty.
Most of the time, he'll eat at the table or out on the terrace, but on those special occasions (or just when Sagora has the itch to do it...which becomes like a weekly affair lol) she'll serve him breakfast in bed which he LOVES. then he not only gets to cuddle in bed and watch the sunrise, but he also gets a nice meal to start his day.
making breakfast in bed for a blorbo
whomst?
tea / coffee? how do they take it?
which juice?
how do they like their eggs?
what "entree"?
do they actually eat it in bed or do they take it to the dining table
'Hey, How do you like your eggs in the morning?' was the first thing I thought of. 😭
Okay! Thank you ❤️❤️ and I actually love this and put way too much thought into this. And want to steal this and ask everyone else the same thing.
Blorbo: Gale
Coffee: Black with a tiny touch of sugar. No juice.
Eggs: Hard boiled. (Don't ask me why. Just vibes.)
Food: A croissant or some kind of fresh pastry. Cantaloupe sliced up on the side.
Since Gale is a night owl, he would not be up for breakfast and would be woken up by his partner most mornings (unless they wake up together). He would get flustered and all "oh my love, you didn't have to go to the trouble!" Every. Single. Time.
And then take a few bites, while simultaneously constantly offering some to share. Gale strikes me as the type to get so into stuff he would forget to eat so someone cooking for/serving him food is a big act of love and I would imagine he'd actually be quite hungry in the morning so, despite feeling a little indulgent, he'd enjoy every single bite still in bed.
Afterwards he would insist on laying back in bed for a bit more and enjoying coffee together.
Galemancers! Weigh in here. How would Gale take breakfast from your Tav?

These are similar enough that I combined them into one prompt. Hope that's cool. They're divided into sections so each of you gets their own little piece.
Narrator with Reader Who Bakes (broken into two categories)
Normal:
The Narrator visits you in the kitchen and is bowled over by the delicious scents coming from the oven. Freshly baked bread, cakes, pies- is that a souffle? He doesn’t strictly speaking need to eat, but for you, he’ll make a glad exception.
It takes all the self control he has to not sigh wistfully every time you preheat the oven, because he knows that he’ll have to wait a while for something to be fully cooked.
He finds the whole concept of baking utterly charming. Could you- Could you let him read your recipe out loud? He loves it when you follow his instructions.
“And so, reader put in half a tablespoon of cinnamon, mixing the batter as they poured.” He loves it. He loves the idea of doing things in a precise order, and you produce such wonderful results.
The narrator is astounded at the amount of food you can produce. He watches as the table becomes overloaded with croissants, cookies, muffins, donuts, and more all within the space of a few hours. How do you do it?
He finds everything you cook very tasty, but he does start to develop his own preferences after being your taste tester for a while. He prefers desserts with fruit, like apple pie, or blueberry muffins. He can’t say why this is, but he hopes you’re willing to abide by his preferences if he asks.
Apeshit:
Sometimes, you’ve just had a really stressful day. So when you bake, you go absolutely ham in the kitchen. The narrator is mildly disturbed as you slam on the dough over and over while making bread. At least you’re getting your frustration out in a healthy way?
“Reader, are you alright? Uh- hehe…” He laughs nervously.
Food and tools get thrown around the kitchen, but you’re still producing excellent baked goods. The narrator is very confused by this. He bites into the crust of some particularly fantastic sourdough bread and decides that as long as you’re happy going wild in the kitchen, he’s not going to stop you.
You grin like a maniac and start smashing candy canes for peppermint bark. Candy pieces are flying everywhere, the narrator steps aside and narrowly avoids getting hit by sharp sugar shrapnel.
“Good lord, reader. We should call you the “Monarch of Aggressive Baking.” Should I make you a crown? Hmm…” He looks into the idea while slowly backing away from the kitchen.
He’s happy to leave you to it.

I bring fluffy ideas!
What about a the pillar men with a bf that loves cooking and baking? You always catch him a few hours before eating time preparing something tasty lol
-🥯
This is such a cute idea I love it 😭
They get so excited when they see you prepping to bake something or cook
When you go off to work in the mornings they check the kitchen to see if anything is set out for dinner
(I dunno if they eat meat?? Cause of how kars is, I’ll just say they do cause it’s an important source of energy/protein imma just saying it’s ethically sourced!)
They see a pack of meat and they spend the day guessing what you’ll make
They’ll see dough in the fridge and play the guessing game with that as well
When you get home and work your magic they’ll frequently walk past you
Not wanting to bother you but still trying to get a look
You keep a little notepad on the fridge for grocery lists but the men will also write what they’d like for you to make
It’s really helped you expand your cooking/recipe rotation to include different countries
Though you do get the occasional “garlic bread” “muffin” “sourdough” etc
They praise your work to no end
The bread is always so soft
The baked goods are so sweet and melt in their mouths
And the actual food keeps them full and happy
They’re big guys so they eat a lot but with your food, you need to make even larger potions cause they’ll get up many times for 2nds and thirds
They sleep well after having a big meal and cuddling their boyfriend

Writing/Art Update 2/14/2023
Welp, the great "don't force myself to write when I don't wanna" experiment is over. I got real heckin' depressed and it was bad, so I started making myself write again, and it lifted. Perhaps it's a coincidence, I don't know, but this sort of holds with how the last four years of my life have been going. Trying to scrape dregs out of an empty jar isn't exactly fun, but it's what I gotta do, I guess.
Anyway, the good news is that I'm not being too mean to myself. I stole @bleachbleachbleach 's method of requiring myself to write one sentence on my WIP every day. I've managed to make it every day. One of the main things that happened (and this sort of thing always happens when I set goals) is that I realized that if I did only one sentence a day, it would take me forever to finish, which has pushed me to do more than the minimum. For the first few days of the week, I was doing about 100 words a day, which is still very paltry, but I think I've done more than that the last few days.
The thing I am working on is a story I started in 2019, which I have always been very fond of, except that it's a mess. The first paragraph is in a difference POV than the rest of it. It's mostly written in the present tense, except where it's not. Most importantly, it just sort of stops where I ran out of ideas. It's possible this was not the best possible project for me to dive into in my current mental state. I've been working on it, but I feel like it keeps getting worse 😂. Like, I re-wrote that first bit, and I just don't like it as much. Also, even though I know I should never, ever, never ever write in the present tense...I... think it works better that way? I'm seriously considering switching it back?? Also, it is primarily a world-building story, and as soon as I started on it, I realized that there were a bunch of holes in my world-building and it's been so hard to make any kind of decisions about anything. (I spent a week trying to figure out if this one guy has a wife or not. It seems like a thing I should just be able to decide except that it's also sort of the entire crux of the story)
At least I didn't have to start from nothing. The original story was about 2900 words, and my intuition is that the final product is going to end up between 5 and 10k. This is a great size for a story, the easiest size of story to write, and I'm honestly just mad that I'm so bad at all of this, and I'm worried that at the end of the day, the thing is gonna suck because I've lost my touch. Anyway, right now, it's 1768. It's nowhere near what I know I'm capable of when I'm on (when I'm really fucking on), but I'm faking it 'cause I have to, and it's going okay, I guess.
I don't know what's up with my art, either! I just don't really have any ideas I'm excited about! I did a tutorial this week with some pastel brushes, and then I turned around and did a Valentine's Day art project with the same brushes. I feel like it's probably a good time to do some skillbuilding, but, man, skillbuilding kinda sucks. 😂
The one good thing that did happen this week is that I finally made a decent loaf of sourdough! Look at these guys!!
They were so springy and good in the middle and nice and crusty on the outside! The secret turned out to be a combination of getting my starter more active generally, and actually following an every-six-hour feeding schedule the day before I baked it (the last feeding was ten hours because it was overnight and I had to get my kid off to school in the morning) It was 100% naturally leavened (no commercial yeast at all). I followed this King Arthur recipe.
The discard recipe of the week was Little Spoon Farm Blueberry Muffins, which were every bit as good as the recipe promised, if you like sweet, cakey, grocery-store style muffins. Little Spoon Farm is becoming my go-to for discard recipes, they haven't missed yet.

So in case you aren't aware, I probably have Celiac Disease and therefore for the last several years have been avoiding products with gluten in them as much as I can.
But soon I'm going to be having an endoscopy and therefore need to be eating much more gluten in the days leading up to it! So please! Help me and give me some ideas for foods with gluten in them to eat during this time where I actually have a good excuse to be eating it!
