genuine question would yall be interested if I made a master doc of all of the cultural references in wotww (or at least the ones I can recognize) complete with links to name origins and visual comparisons for locations and architecture. I <3 doing deep dives into the references behind the character names and the real world locations and time periods each area is inspired by

Ayreontasiatober days 19-20: Song Outside Ayreontasia That Reminds You Of A Character

!! Content warning for fire imagery (and possibly eyestrain because I did go a little crazy with the colors) !!

Hear me out. Hear me out on this one please it's kind of odd I know

Okay so I wasn’t originally going to do this prompt, I was just going to draw @stormylewirmy’s John Prophet for the fanon character design prompt. Then in my ritual looping of Prophecies by Blind Guardian (normal about that song I swear) (I'm really not) my brain was like. Haha hold up.

This one’s a bit of a stretch - the song is called Prophecies, I thought “what if the ‘nine’ could be in reference to the OTHER nine characters from the Source, and “once upon a dream ago” reminds me of the Dream Dissolves and everybody off having wild dream sequences during cryosleep. And then I thought … so what if, while dreaming, Prophet feels guilt of not being able to save his friends from their fates (as he’s the only one who’s aware)? What if, in a dream, he sees the specters of his friends en route to becoming soulless fish, and they accuse him of leaving them all to stagnate alone beneath the waves? …

…anyway I can’t pick just ONE favorite fanon character design (I love them all) but Stormy's Prophet was super fun to draw :) fire imagery due to Beyond the Red Mirror having a lot of fire imagery as a whole, plus funky neon green and cyan overlays are fun for sci-fi atmospheres. Okay that’s more than enough rambling enjoy

Post going around about a new app launched by the Mexican consulate to help people in danger of deportation quickly garnering thousands of notes; 15 minutes on google and google translate shows the app was meant to go live a week ago and has since been very rushed, is only available on android, and every Mexican in the reviews is saying you need to create an account, it's not easy to understand or use, and the coding itself is buggy and broken.

Sharing this not to be dismissive but as a case study- your heart being in the right place and thinking 'any information is helpful and counts toward mutual aid' < asking yourself 'who is this materially helping rn'
