*Nikita walks in on Sheela making cereal* *And then Sheela pours the milk first*
Nikita: Did you just pour the milk first?
Sheela: Yeah? What's wrong? Is it expired-
Nikita: NOBODY pours the milk first! It's- It's WEIRD!
Sheela: Um, I pour the milk first.
Nikita: And it's FREAKING WEIRD!
Sheela: WHY are you so offended?!?
Nikita: Because- SERIAL KILLERS pour the milk first!
Sheela: Oh. So. Imma kill somebody, for NO REASON, because I poured the milk first?
Nikita: I don't know, maybe-
Sheela: Why does this matter to you?
Nikita: Why do you even do it that way?
Sheela: So the cereal doesn't get soggy as fast.
Nikita: ...what?
Sheela: It makes sense.
Nikita: No. It doesn't.
Sheela: Listen, if you pour the cereal in first, and THEN pour the milk in after, then all the cereal gets SATURATED by the milk-
Nikita: ALL of the cereal gets SATURATED and SUBMERGED by the milk anyway-
Sheela: NO, not if you pour the milk in first-
Nikita: YES IT DOES!
Sheela: Wait, let me finish, sis! C'mon!
Nikita: Go ahead, go ahead. What?
Sheela: Cause of SURFACE TENSION...
*Nikita looks at the camera like in the Office*
Sheela: ...the bottom layer of the cereal will act as a FLOTATION DEVICE-
Nikita: What are you even saying right now-
Sheela: SHUT UP, LET ME FINISH-
Nikita: But that's STUPID
Sheela: YOU'RE stupid!
Nikita: This whole ARGUMENT is stupid!
Sheela: YOU are the one who STARTED this whole ARGUMENT!
Nikita: Cause you poured the FREAKING MILK IN THE BOWL FIRST!
Sheela: JUST LISTEN TO ME!!!
*Nikita snarls at the camera and says "Gosh"*
Sheela: Now, as I was saying, if you pour the cereal on TOP of the milk-
Nikita: Wait, how do you know how much milk to pour if you don't pour the cereal into the bowl first?
Sheela: If you eat all the cereal and there's still more milk left, either (A), DRINK IT, or (B), I dunno, POUR SOME MORE CEREAL
Nikita: But what if you're not as HUNGRY or as THIRSTY as you thought you were, and now you're just sitting here, with a bowl full of extra MILK-
Sheela, baby voice: Oh. Do you need a bottle? Your ba-ba?
Sheela, normal: Or are you gonna stop being a little BABY and just FINISH IT?!?
Nikita, menacingly: Cereal-milk is tainted milk
Sheela, menacingly: Well that's your fault for pouring too much milk.
Sheela, normal: Plus, there's always room for more cereal! Cereal's like, the ICE CREAM of breakfast!
Nikita: Cereal for breakfast is poppin'-
Sheela: On the other hand, if you pour the cereal first-
Nikita: Oh my-
Sheela: AND THEN pour the milk on after-
Nikita: STOP
Sheela: All the cereal will get soggy-
Nikita: EXACTLY!
Sheela: Huh?
Nikita: It gets soggy!
Sheela: Exactly!
Nikita: That's the best part!
Sheela: You're kidding me.
Nikita: NO. I am NOT.
Sheela: Have you ever had soggy Fruity Pebbles before?
Nikita: Yes. And they're delicious.
Sheela: You're an Asura.
Nikita: SOGGY FRUITY PEBBLES ARE HEAVENLY
Sheela: THAT'S DISGUSTING!
Nikita: YOU'RE DISGUSTING!
*Aiden walks in*
Sheela: YOUR WHOLE FACE IS DISGUSTING!
Nikita: YOU IDIOT! WE HAVE. THE SAME. FACE!!!
Aiden: Hey guys?
Twins: WHAT?!?
Aiden: Just. Heard your argument and I just gotta say...have you tried it, without the milk?
*Twins stare him down*
Aiden: I actually, uh, I prefer to eat my cereal dry.
*Twins breathe in*
Twins: BOI🫱
Sheela: DO YOU ALSO PREFER TO BRUSH YOUR TEETH WITHOUT WETTING THE TOOTH BRUSH?
Nikita: I BET YOU USE THE TOILET AFTER YOU SHOWER! YOU'RE PROBABLY SMELLING LIKE A STRAIGHT SEWER!
Sheela: RIGHT NOW!
Nikita: OL' BROKE LOOKING, JOHNNY LEVER LOOKING BOI
Sheela: IF YOU DON'T GET YOUR WHOLE "Ara Ara" APSARA LOOKING FACE OUTTA HERE BOI
Aiden: Guys-
Nikita: WHO ARE YOU?!?
Sheela: WE DON'T EVEN KNOW YOU ANYMORE
Aiden: But guys-
Nikita: WHO INVITED YOU?!?
Sheela: WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE?!?
Aiden: But guys-
Nikita: HOW DID YOU EVEN GET IN OUR HOUSE?!?
Sheela: 👈EXIT STAGE LEFT!
Aiden: But-
Nikita: YOU POMPOUS HEATHEN! I TAKE MY SPOON AND I YEET!
*throws a spoon at Aiden*
Sheela: YEET! *throws the bowl at Aiden*
Nikita: MILK YEET! *Throws the milk jug at Aiden*
Sheela: RUSUSUSPUFFAS YEET! *Throws box of Reese's Puffs at Aiden*
*later*
Aru, bandaging Aiden's wounds: And this is why I don't go to the Jagan's anymore...

Bathurst Supercars: Van Gisbergen completes victory clean sweep at Mount Panorama 500
Tumblr media
Shane van Gisbergen completed a Bathurst clean sweep by comfortably winning the second heat of the Mount Panorama 500.
Starting from pole, the Kiwi ceded critical track position by being out-dragged by Cam Waters into Turn 1.
Van Gisbergen was clearly able to match the leading Tickford Mustang for pace, but, facing aero wash, was unable to find a way through.
That made the stops crucial, van Gisbergen opting to take his first service on Lap 14. Waters followed suit a lap later but his Tickford crew unable to get him out fast enough to stop van Gisbergen from charging into the lead.
Once in front it was a flawless display from van Gisbergen, who pulled 4.2s over Waters across the second stint.
He and Waters then pitted together on Lap 23, before van Gisbergen eased his advantage out 6.1s by the finish.
Tumblr media
Speaking post-race, van Gisbergen said the middle stint was one of the best he’s ever done – as well taking a cheeky jab at Waters’ Monster Energy backing.
“It’s a team win, a strategy win,” said van Gisbergen.
“Unfortunately you can’t battle on track so we had to try to win it in the pitlane, and we did.
“That middle stint was just insane, it was so good to have such a good car and just push in clean air. It was qualifying laps the whole time and I was watching a sub-par energy drink get smaller in the mirror. It was awesome.”
Chaz Mostert made it two podiums for the weekend with a well-crafted third place. The Walkinshaw Andretti United driver had to pass a pair of Dick Johnson Racing entries along the way, charging by Will Davison in the first stint.
He then pressured Anton De Pasquale into a mistake on his out-lap after his first stop, a moment at The Chase on cold tyres for the DJR driver opening the door for Mostert to get by.
De Pasquale went on to finish fourth, while team-mate Davison slipped back down the order in the final stint. First he was jumped by Mark Winterbottom during the second round of stops, before locking the rears at the last corner a few laps from home, which let Jamie Whincup into sixth.
Scott Pye finished the race eighth ahead of Andre Heimgartner, with Nick Percat rounding out the Top 10.
The only non-finisher was James Courtney, who backed his Tickford Mustang into the wall at The Cutting on Lap 9.
Van Gisbergen now holds a 33-point lead over Mostert in the standings.

Our Favorite Wedding Dresses with a Pop of Color!
Did you happen to catch last month’s round-up of our favorite black wedding dresses? We thought it was about time to add a pop of color! And, for those that are curious as to why wedding dresses are typically white, well, that’s all Queen Victoria’s fault. We kid, we kid, but almost ALL wedding dresses worn before 1840 were actually colorful, not white. Blue was a popular choice, and many brides opted for dark colors—better for hiding stains + imperfections, so the dress could be worn again.
Whatever the reason—whether you want to stay away from trends and traditions, or simply because you want to incorporate your favorite color into the big day, we’re all for mixing things up and rocking a colorful wedding dress! From those that are dip-dyed, made of airy tulle, or simple and striking in all yellow, we’re sharing our favorite colorful wedding dresses! Oh, and make sure you don’t miss the hand-painted rainbow gown (the most popular gown we’ve ever shared!!).

Thumbnails 1/14/19
Thumbnails is a roundup of brief excerpts to introduce you to articles from other websites that we found interesting and exciting. We provide links to the original sources for you to read in their entirety.—Chaz Ebert
1.
"OUT 100: Emma González, Newsmaker of the Year": The phenomenal young gun control activist spoke with our own Monica Castillo for Out Magazine.
“Not everyone celebrated the arrival of a bold and confident queer Latinx woman on the national stage. Almost immediately after González’s first public appearances, trolls began attacking her online. In a Facebook post, Congressman Steve King’s campaign (R-Iowa) linked her to communist Cuba for wearing a patch of the country’s flag on her jacket. González, whose father is Cuban, defended herself and cited the elected official’s racist comments. ‘If somebody’s trying to challenge my Cuban identity, they are usually — if not obviously — racist,’ she said. ‘Look at the things he said, and what he called me. What he said was bottom-of-the barrel. He was not even trying. He went out of his way lots of times to call out various people and say things about minority groups.’ To González, identity is fluid and more encompassing than basic labels. ‘Identity to me means the way that you describe yourself when someone says, ‘Describe yourself,’’ she explains. ‘If I were to describe my identity, I would say that I am half Cuban, I’m bald, I’m bisexual, I’m 5-foot-2, I like to write, I like to partake in the arts, and I like to crochet. I would hope that if I were introducing myself to somebody, through those things, they would be able to get an understanding of who I am.’”
2.
"Does Erasing Cyber-Reality Erase Our Actual Reality?": A personal essay evocative of "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," penned by Emma Olsson for Eileen Kelly's excellent site, Killer And A Sweet Thang.
“I think social media provides us with this peculiar way of storytelling, and perhaps it’s narcissistic, but the story is our own. I want to one day be able to look back at those odd little squares and read their stories of a time when I was 19 and 20 and 21 and in love for the first time. They hold deep connections to a memory, but they don’t necessarily signal a longing for a person. At least not for me. Something about the mourning of deleted pictures feels like a parody of our times. It’s impossible to imagine this scenario outside of a modern, digital context. In a time when online and offline lives are rich enough to be distinguished from each other, the act of removing little pieces of evidence from this online space feels particularly jarring. A deleted photo translates into something much deeper in meaning, to the deletion of proof of our existence together. I’d always tried to hold myself to the doctrine that one day, after the hurt had softened, I’d be able to look back on photos and relive the memories with gratitude. That I’d be able to see the soft things, the beautiful and happy things, not only the sad. Photos are potent in that way, and I hoped (and still do) to feel neither removed from this person nor bound to him. I hoped to just feel grateful, and it hurt me to think that he didn’t feel the same. That he wanted to cut me out of his memory — even if just on social media.”
3.
"'What 'Moonlight' Gave Us Was the Confidence to Execute Our Ideas Without Fear': Writer/Director Barry Jenkins on 'If Beale Street Could Talk'": A wonderful interview with the Oscar-winning director conducted by Jim Hemphill for Filmmaker Magazine.
“We treat the sound the same way we treat the cinematography, which is with the idea that it should be a reflection of the main character’s consciousness. In terms of the cinematography, when Tish is remembering the more beautiful and tender times with Fonny, those scenes are overly lush and overly saturated because they function as memory — when we remember things, we don’t remember them as a documentary. There’s more light in the flashbacks, and much more shadow in the present-day scenes, where Tish and Fonny are in a kind of purgatory. As far as the sound goes, when I’m making a film, I’m not just considering the screen — I’m considering the house, the actual environment where the audience is going to watch the movie. One of the things we decided right away was that the voice-over narration in the film needed to be experienced in a different way than the dialogue, so if you’re sitting in an auditorium it feels like you’re inside her head. Her voice is coming from all around the room, whereas the dialogue is coming from the front channel, and it’s a very different effect. In other scenes we would stoke up the reverb and things like that, just to reflect what the characters are feeling.”
4.
"Becoming parents completely changed who we are": A beautiful letter from Mary Barnes to her husband, published at Motherly.
“These are the parenting trenches. The baby years. These years can make or break us. And can I be so bold as to say: I think they're making us. They're making us learn how to communicate better. How to find common ground when we disagree about real stuff, like the ways we want to raise our children. We're invested in not only the outcome but the short term effect. We're a team. They're making us think about the future. Not just the fun stuff, but the difficult stuff like estate planning, life insurance, and college funds for the kids. They're making us challenge ourselves to provide our children with comfort and opportunities. We've always worked hard but the stakes have never been this high. You know I'm the optimist, the dreamer, while you consider yourself the realist—but I think we can agree on this: going through some of the tough stuff with you by my side has shown me that we are stronger than the tough stuff. We can get through it. We can get through anything. As long as we hold on to each other. Motherhood transformed me. Fatherhood transformed you. And having kids completely transformed our marriage. We'll never be who we were on our wedding day again. Time marches forward—only forward. I miss the carefree version of ‘us,’ but I love this version even more. Because we know what we're made of now, and in so many ways we didn't before.”
5.
"Independent films screened at Oakton College's annual pop-up: 'The festival is all about broadening horizons'": Our contributor Donald Liebenson reports on Michael Glover Smith's indispensable festival for the Chicago Tribune.
“Josephine Decker’s ‘Madeline’s Madeline’ that was screened during the film festival is the type of film that Smith says he envisioned when he launched the free event. ‘I wanted to show independent and experimental films that are exciting and a little bit challenging; movies that are different from what typically would play (at the local multiplex),’ Smith said. ‘The festival is all about broadening horizons.’ Smith, himself, is the author of ‘Flickering Empire,’ which chronicled the untold story of Chicago’s silent film industry, and the film blog ‘White City Cinema.’ He has also directed two film festival award-winning productions: ‘Cool Apocalypse’ and ‘Mercury in Retrograde.’ The filmmaker and instructor said he was inspired to start the ‘Pop-Up’ festival after inviting Harold Ramis’ wife Erica to speak to his student about a documentary she had produced on The Joffrey Ballet. ‘She is the daughter of the late film producer and director Daniel Mann, and she talked about growing up in that household, her life with Harold and being on his film sets,’ Smith said. ‘But it was in a classroom of 12 people, and I thought this was a conversation that should be held in an auditorium and open to the public.’”

Not only did Glenn Close's acceptance speech for her surprise win in the Best Actress (Drama) category for her brilliant performance in "The Wife" bring the Golden Globes audience to its feet, it could also very likely help the actress win her very first Oscar. And boy is she well overdue for one.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009)
Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi |
X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics fictional character Wolverine. It is the fourth installment of the X-Men film series, the first installment of the Wolverine trilogy within the series, and a spin-off prequel to X-Men (2000). The film was directed by Gavin Hood, written by David Benioff and Skip Woods, and produced by Hugh Jackman, who stars as the titular character, alongside Liev Schreiber, Danny Huston, Dominic Monaghan, and Ryan Reynolds. The film’s plot details Wolverine’s childhood as James Howlett, his time with Major William Stryker’s Team X, the bonding of Wolverine’s skeleton with the indestructible metal adamantium during the Weapon X program and his relationship with his half-brother Victor Creed.
In 1845, James Howlett, a boy living in Canada, witnesses his father being killed by groundskeeper Thomas Logan. Anxiety activates the boy’s mutation: bone claws protrude from his knuckles and he impales Thomas, who reveals that he is James’ birth father before dying. James flees along with Thomas’ other son Victor Creed, who is James’ half-brother and has a sharp claw-nails and healing factor mutation like James. They spend the next century as soldiers, fighting in the American Civil War, both World Wars and the Vietnam War in 1973.
In Vietnam, the increasingly violent Victor attempts to rape a Vietnamese woman and kills a senior officer who tries to stop him. James returns to Victor upon the commotion, and ignorant of his brother’s intent, he rushes to defend him. This results in the pair being sentenced to execution by firing squad, which they survive due to their mutant healing abilities. Major William Stryker approaches them in military custody and offers them membership in Team X, a group of mutants including expert marksman Agent Zero, katana-wielding Wade Wilson, John Wraith, super-strong and invulnerable Fred Dukes and technopath Chris Bradley. They join the team for a few missions, with James using the alias Logan, but Victor and the group’s lack of empathy for human life causes Logan to leave.
Director: Gavin Hood
Writers: David Benioff (screenplay), Skip Woods (screenplay)
Stars: Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber, Ryan Reynolds, Will.i.am, Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, Danny Huston

The 41st installment of the Mill Valley Film Festival, presented annually by the California Film Institute, will screen 204 films representing 46 countries from Thursday, October 4th, through Sunday, October 14th, in Marin County. Two of the festival’s 24 premieres will kick off opening night, with the U.S. debuts of Matthew Heineman’s “A Private War” starring Rosamund Pike and Peter Farrelly’s “Green Book” starring Mahershala Ali. At 11am on Friday, October 5th, RogerEbert.com publisher Chaz Ebert will host a special screening of Antonio Méndez Esparza’s Spirit Award-winning drama, “Life & Nothing More,” a harrowing and richly human portrait of a struggling single mother and her teenage son.

Nearly half of all films at this year’s edition (45 percent, to be exact) were directed by women, including Marielle Heller’s “Can You Ever Forgive Me?“, Karyn Kusama’s “Destroyer” and Sara Colangelo’s “The Kindergarten Teacher.” The festival’s gender equity initiative, Mind The Gap, is committed to reserving 50 percent of films screened at the festival for female directors by 2020. On Saturday, October 6th, Mrs. Ebert will be presenting USC Annenberg associate professor Dr. Stacy L. Smith the Mind the Gap Award for Visionary Leadership. She is the Founder and Director of the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, the leading think tank globally studying issues of inequality in entertainment. Some of her most recent work will also be screened as part of the Mind the Gap Summit scheduled throughout the day.
Prior to the award presentation, Ebert will moderate a panel on Consciously Independent Producing featuring Oscar-winner Anna Paquin and producer Cerise Hallam Larkin (here at Mill Valley with their film “The Parting Glass”), as well as Michelle Cameron, producer of this year’s Sundance prize-winner, “Nancy.” Ebert will also participate in the festival’s annual State of the Industry panel scheduled for the following day—Sunday, October 7th—along with Jonathan King of Participant Media and Ed Arentz of Greenwich Entertainment.
Other highlights at this year’s festival include a centerpiece presentation of Alfonso Cuarón’s widely celebrated “Roma,” a spotlight screening of George Tillman Jr.’s “The Hate U Give” featuring rising star Amandla Stenberg, a tribute to “Ida” director Paweł Pawlikowski (here with his latest black and white marvel, “Cold War”) and a closing night screening of “If Beale Street Could Talk,” the latest work from “Moonlight” director Barry Jenkins.
