Hello again! đ This is part 13! It contains violence, angst and horrible descriptions of horrible things (why can't I word things better you ask? I'm tired af, my brain is done.)
You may find lots (and I mean it, lots) of grammatical mistakes and inconsistencies (me translating a sentence in spanish to english even tho I don't know if it makes sense xDD upsi).
Get out of my way đ
You remembered everything at once, their faces, your own feelings of agony. There was an essential question waiting to be answered. Are these little D.âs here because of your corrupted soul or, maybe, have you been corrupted because of them? Does it really matter? You looked at your hands and then at Lilith, she seemed angry.
âFive times this week!! You couldn't be satisfied with any of them!â You didn't like the sound of that. âWhat are you implying?!â you asked. Lilith didn't hold back, too emotional after having remembered her brothersâ faces of anguish. âYou want to hurt them!! That little demon of greed appeared because you can't get enough, no amount of suffering can satisfy you!! You want to hurt them to the point of no return!!â Each word pierced you more than the previous one, you felt caged between the wall and the sword. You had no shield and Lilith was merciless.
âThat's not true.â you said, your voice barely perceptible. âOh but it is! I begged you to stop!â The former angel wanted to say more but noticed the eerie silence and lugubrious atmosphere. She looked at you and guilt washed her over, you had paled and tears streamed down your face. âMc, no... I'm sorry. Mc I-â
âIs it true, Lilith? Did they try to hurt our brothers?â Both you and Lilith looked towards the voice, Lucifer's voice.
You hadn't noticed how the Little D.s' chattering stopped, now all of them stood up impersonating the brothers. They were looking at you from their place, a few meters away, standing still in complete silence, with their eyes looking through you. âIt's getting cold, we should go home.â You tried to ignore them but something felt wrong.
They seemed dangerous, you felt like a prey under their gaze. âGo home? I thought you didn't want to be part of our family? You don't have a home, do you? Not here.â Lucifer said. You knew he wasn't the real one, but it was getting harder and harder to tell. âHey! Shut up and go back to your nonsense!â Lilith put a brave front, even though she felt weaker than ever before. âThey tried to kill Belphie, Lilith!â Beelzebub said. âI Would never do that, Beel!â you replied. Lilith's eyes widened in desperation. âNo, no, no!! He's NOT Beel!â
You couldn't even think about moving, your figure engulfed by darkness on a night with no moon. From behind you felt Mammon's breath and his voice whispering in your ear. âMc? Is it okay now?â You turned around swiftly and Mammon revealed the figure of Leviathan with his mouth severely sewed. He was paler than usual, and the bruises around the stitches gave him an even worse look.
âLevi!!â you pushed Mammon away and warily took Leviathan's arms, caressing his face and tenderly touching his now half scarred lips. âNo, no, Levi! Oh my god, Leviathan! Why did you do this?!â
âMc! Heâs not Leviathan, heâs a Little D!â Lilith screamed.
âHmmf morm.â Levi tried to answer, both the stitches and the blood prevented it. âShhh!! Don't talk!! Let me help you.â tears running down your face, the tremor of your hands equalling the one in your voice. âMay the vestiges of pain that linger within the demon before me be eliminated."
Suddenly, Leviathan forced his mouth open, breaking the stitches and covering you with blood. âFor you, Mc. I did it for you.â Shock crossed your face and your mouth dropped.
Lilith stared in horror at your worried figure, to her it was obvious that you couldnât properly distinguish between her brothers and the Little D.s "MC! Levi is safe. Heâs not here!â She walked towards you, but before she could reach you, the Little D. of Pride in the shape of Lucifer took her hand, âI have to thank you, dear sister.â Lilith only watched Lucifer, clearly confused. âWhat do you mean?â
Lucifer laughed before exhaling a satisfied sigh. âWe wanted to push them, we wanted to press all their buttons.â He watched intently to Lilith as his smile grew wide. âBut who would have guessed? It was you who did it first, our little sister.â Lilith couldnât shake Luciferâs grip, couldnât escape his eyes. She turned her gaze to you, screaming to get your attention. âMc! Run!â
You cast spell after spell, but Leviathanâs wounds didnât heal, on the contrary, they got worse. âLevi, donât worry, itâll be okay.â You felt Leviâs blood on your face and the smell filled your nostrils. âYour words canât cure me, they only make me worse.â He said, and you sobbed, trying to speak but only three words came out. âIâm sorry, Levi.â Your tears mixed with the fake blood of the Little D. of envy, if you werenât so distraught you would have noticed how the eyes of the little demon glowed with joy and amusement.
âMc! They are the Little D.âs! Mc!â Lilith shouted with all her will, but it was useless. Your unfocused eyes, your shallow breathing, your red and swollen eyes. âForget it, Lilith. It's too late for them, you couldn't save them, neither you nor your brothers, not even the prince, no one.â Lucifer said.
âMc?â Beelzebub touched your arm, momentarily distracting you from Leviâs injuries. âBeel?â You replied, narrowing and rubbing your eyes. âDo you know where Belphie is?â Beel asked. Suddenly you did not hear a sound, you saw Lilith scream but everything was in complete silence. You felt your ears clog and an oppressive atmosphere. Beelzebub grabbed your forearm and squeezed it until you screamed. âAhhh Beel! Stop!â But his grip tightened, his mouth inches away from your ear. âI obeyed you but Iâm still hungry.â Your breath was caught in your throat while your heart fought to escape your rib cage. âW-what?â You murmured before hearing a loud thump at your feet. Slowly, your eyes looked at the object that had fallen.
You wanted to scream, to let out the most horrible, painful scream you had ever heard. Instead, no words came out of your mouth. Only the failed attempts to breathe, only tears running down your face. A million shards of glass stabbing your heart, but you couldnât even move, as Belphieâs head rolled until his lifeless eyes met yours.
âMC! LOOK AT THEM, LOOK AT HIS EYES! THOSE ARE NOT MY BROTHERâS EYES!!â You heard Lilithâs voice like a soft echo even though you knew she was screaming. You wanted to believe her, but right there, looking straight at Belphegorâs eyes, it was clear to you. Belphieâs purple eyes were looking at you, it was him. Not the completely black eyes of a Little D. but the soft purple color and the speck of pink that fades in between. But if they had color that meant that⊠no, it couldnât be real.
âMc!â Lilith shook off Luciferâs grip and ran towards you, you tried to meet her halfway, weakly raising your hand towards her, but she vanished before you could touch her. A white mist surrounded you, with the fading voice of Lilith calling you. âL-Lilith?â You could not see a thing, your eyes looked into the white fog searching for anything. Unexpectedly, Asmodeuâs face appeared in front of you. Eyes out of his sockets and a smile from ear to ear. âBooh!â
âAAAHHHHHHH!!â you ran into the woods, no matter if you were blindly running into the night, away from the path and safety you knew. Anything was better than this.
Lucifer had gone to a meeting with Diavolo, they were drinking and he was on his second drink of demonus. He wouldnât be lying if he said he couldnât stop thinking about you for even a minute. Where were you? Would you ever forgive them? Was it too late for him?
He yearned for your presence, your laugh and the comfort of your smile pressed against his lips. âI should go now, Diavolo.â he tried to get up but a sharp pain shot through his chest, right where the mark of your pact itâs located. Diavolo hadn't heard Lucifer's groans of pain in a while, he was at his friend's side in seconds. âLucifer!? What's happening!?â The Avatar of pride tore his shirt in a feeble attempt to ease the pain, he looked everywhere searching for you. You were calling him, he could feel you all over the place and then nowhere. âLucifer!?â Diavolo's voice carried urgency, he could smell the burning skin of Lucifer.
âM-mc is in danger.â Lucifer murmured, trying to breathe. Diavolo cast a glance towards Barbatos, but it was not necessary as the butler was already on his way.
Mammon was laying on your bed waiting for your return when the pain hit him, his chest burning and his back arching painfully until his knees touched his forehead. Although it was paralyzing, Mammon changed into his demon form and quickly left the house of lamentation, frantically looking into the darkness of the devildomâs night. âMC!!!â His voice was desperate, loud and frantic. âTreasure!!â The pain increased and forced him to fall on his knees, but he never stopped calling your name.
Satan watched how Asmodeusâ eyes widened just to quickly close again, how the pupils of the demon of lust dilated as he tried to breathe. âMc!â Asmo gasped, before falling abruptly. âAsmo!â Satan squatted down but the feeling of your burning pact stopped him, his mind became blurry and from one moment to the next the only thing in his field of vision was the ground. âWe have to help them! WeâŠâ
You couldnât see anything, the branches hit your face and scratched your skin to the point of bleeding, but that didnât stop you. Your legs burned from the effort, you werenât aware of how much you ran but it didnât feel like it was enough. âIâm sorry Lucifer!â you screamed, but it wasnât as loud as you wanted, you were out of breath and the cold air was painful to breathe. âIâm sorry, Levi!â You said. Your legs couldnât run anymore, but you kept walking, pushing your limits. âIâm sorry, Belphie!â You murmured, no longer moving. âIâm sorry.â You cried.
âIâm sorry, Belphie!â The eyes of the avatar of sloth opened, was it because of the nightmare? Was it because of the intolerable pain in his chest? He didnât care, he was awake and you werenât there. He tried to move, but it was impossible, something similar to sleep paralysis. âMc!!â he cried. âBeel!â he tried again. When he managed to move, the first thing he saw was his twin gasping form, unable to move or pronunce a word. Beelzebub didnât need to say a word for Belphie to understand, they were feeling the same, you were on danger. You were here with them, you were far away, gone.
Leviathan felt a burning sensation in his chest, fire blazing his skin. However, when he sensed your pact, he felt cold. As if the water seeped into his lungs and sank him into the ocean, cold and alone. And above all that, you. You asking for his help from the surface. âMc?â Your call through the pacts grew in intensity and the pain did the same.
You wanted to call them, to say sorry and speak the truth. You wanted them to come for you, but at the same time you were afraid. Afraid because you had their lives in your hands and they were ready to give in. No, you couldnât call them even if thatâs what you desired the most.
Something moved behind you, you tried to fight but you were too slow to react. Too slow and too weak, your legs could no longer support you and you fell, who knows where.
Part 14? àČ â _â àČ

eagleflies w/ a s/o who just moved to america and is absolutely HORRIBLE at english đđ
Your wish is my command đ
Eagle Flies with a non English speaking s/o hc!!!
Cw: curse word, no beta read
Notes: canon time, some inspired by tempting andromeda!!
â
I can see him first meeting you either in a city like Saint Denis or lost on a road near the reservation
If yâall meet in Saint Denis, it will likely be more short lived
He might offer a little nod but thatâs likely it if the two of you donât actually speak
Now if yall meet because your lost on a road, heâll be more inclined to speak with you
Since the requester says horrible english, iâm gonna assume they mean grammatically and/or with remembering words or phrases
It may take him a little while to realize you were trying to say a wolf attacked you and your horse a few miles back rather than some wool slaying your horse
Iâm kinda stealing this from @tempting-andromeda but he definitely likes accents, at least a little bit
Heâd offer a ride to either Saint Denis or the nearest train station
A bit happy for you to accept the offer so he can hear more of your accent (hides it)
Asks questions about where youâre from or your culture
A slow budding relationship, but i can see a friendship developing pretty quickly
Definitely has a little sense of camaraderie that english isnât yâalls first language
Since your horse died, heâd arrange to see you every so often
I already said this, but he likes hearing you talk
Going into a relationship is a bit complicated considering the slight language barrier
Tries to exercise patience when youâre having a hard time forming a sentence, but sometimes it gets a little difficult
Offers to speak for you, but will respect it if you want to be your own voice
Likes it when yâall are cuddling and you tell him stories in your first language
Yâall are trading different stories and words for sure
Finds it intimate in a way
â
Sorry that there wasnât too many hc, my mind blanked at the end đ
ALSO I SWEAR ILL GET THE OTHER REQUESTS, ART CLASS IS JUST KICKING MY ASS RIGHT NOW!!!!!!

I dreamt I went shopping to buy a Secret Santa gift. In a shop, I saw a box of jewellery which I had lost. I went up to the woman at the till and said "I'm so sorry. This sounds ridiculous and you're not going to believe me. But this jewellery is mine. Could I please take it?" Much to my surprise, she agreed, but said she'd also be happy to buy some of it. I had two copies of one pair of earrings so I sold them for ÂŁ50. A very neat profit. The jewellery box also contained a beautiful and delicate pair of violet-shaped earrings. The woman also found an owl earring I had lost a long time ago :-) you might think, what a pleasant dream!
But then the horrors began.
I was at university, and for some ungodly reason, attending a chemistry lecture. That in itself is terrifying. The lecture theatre was a horrible safety hazard, as illustrated below:
It was spine-chilling. The lecturer (who was my highschool chemistry teacher) kept trying to explain a software that classified both mould species and German grammatical modes, which I could not wrap my head around. Thus, when the lecture ended I got up to leave posthaste. I saw my brother in the crowd and started following him. I got lost in the crowd and inadvertently ended up in a law lecture theatre.
No-one but law students was allowed to attend law lectures in mg dream universe, so once more, I tried to leave posthaste. But the strobe lights made me faint like the delicate demoiselle I am. A man ran up to me, took my arm, and led me out of the room. I assumed he was talking me to a nurse.
WRONG.
He took me to the university's kangaroo đŠ court, which judged me guilty of intruding upon a law lecture, and sentenced me to 100 HOURS OF CHEMISTRY LECTURES. I intended to serve out my sentence, I really did. But looking at the awful, brutalist behemoth of the Chemistry Faculty building repulsed me so much that I decided to go home instead.
At home, my brother tearfully informed me our cat was dying. I was shocked and surprised as she looked perfectly fine to me. He said he knew in his bones that she was dying, and that we had to play her a Spotify playlist to soothe her in her dying moments. I conceded. We both wept over said playlist, waiting for our cat's demise. And then I woke up.

4, 31, and 35 for the wip asks, please! :) (If I've already sent in my request ignore this one - my brain is not co-operating today.)
4) Last sentence written?
I debated about this question because I havenât written anything in a month, and what I was working on then is a redraft of an original novel and Iâm not confident enough to share that. So I think I will skip (sorry) and instead use the random number to pick another question to answer for you. Which isâŠ.
26) Google docs, word doc, or neither?
You are around my age I think? So does this question amuse you a bit too? I predate those options. Well maybe not Word but we didnât have it until I was in high school. I started off with good old pen and paper. My grandparents had a computer (a BBC-B) and they let me play frogger on it sometimes but not work. My mums first computer was a Windows 3.1 which predates the taskbar start menu and all of that. That had a program on it called âMicrosoft Worksâ which from google to shore up my failing memory looks like it was word/excel/publisher etc. all in one. So that was my first foray into digital.
But I digress because yes of course I went on to wordpad, and then I got Word 2003 (still havenât upgraded btw) but then when I got an iPad which has no stinking USB socket, I couldnât carry around my stick with my word files anymore to work on everywhere so then I jumped to google docs.
Buuuuuut I have recently jumped to⊠something else. The problem with google docs is it is rubbish at large files (lags horribly), it doesnât have a decent dark mode, it doesnât have any integral backup options for changes, and I just donât think it is really intended for 80k novels. I used it for years but it was really starting to frustrate me. Itâs free which is why I tried to stick with it but I have moved to use NovelPad. By the name itâs designed for novels. It is web based but with a good offline mode, backs up every minute automatically, you can split everything into scenes, the revision feature is my favourite (no more juggling multiple documents) and the dark mode is so good. Itâs also not overly complicated like Scrivener (which I could never get on with). The only bad thing is itâs a subscription. But as serious as I want to take my writing and with all the quality of life it offers I decided for me it was worth it.
31) Are you doing this instead of actually working on your wip?
No⊠well I suppose technically all âfreeâ time could be used for writing. But itâs 7:30am and I am going out this morning to buy a new mattress. I have had mine for 25 years and I am now waking up with backache everyday (no springs poking through but I can feel them grinding). But yeah I am terrible if I have appointments for not being able to focus (even more than I usually canât haha).
35) Are you more likely to make grammatical errors or spelling errors?
Hmm. There are some words I just canât spell (like guarantee thank you auto correct), and there are some words I spell so badly that spellcheck canât fix it and I have to go âgoogle you are my only hopeâ. But for the most part I can spell. Itâs more automatic than thinking about it, I think if you used me to spell out words I would probably be worse haha. So maybe grammatical? Iâm not too sure what comes under the heading of grammar. I donât do any of the big things (I think/hope) but comma splicing probably, passive voice definitely etc. I donât get that many wavy underlines either way to be honest.
Thanks for the ask â€ïž

15, 19, 21 for the ask game?
- @you-know-i-get-itt
did not expect to get asked at all let alone this quick! ty
15. It'd have to be How To Train Your Dragon 2. I love 1 but 2 is something else.
19. I don't really know how to answer this one? But I guess one is I'm a horrible grammar nerd. I used to be worse, constantly correcting ppl irl (ik, that's annoying but I was a child) but I think reading (and writing) fanfic has made me better but sometimes I read a sentence that's not grammatically correct and I'm just like đŹđ but I also think I've got more understanding of the fact that English is not a first language for a lot of people, so, yeah. (sorry this was so long)
21. Oof, promoting self-positivity secretly I see you đ personality wise? i'd say my empathy. it's so rare nowadays that i treasure it more than I used to. physically? i love my eyes. i have always loved them even when i've been made fun of because of them.
thank you for the ask! this was fun!

wc: il y a les mots, plus précisément, 662 (there are words, specifically, 662) UGH THEY KEEP GETTING SHORTER IM SO SORRY
synopsis: on a casual rainy saturday afternoon, what better cure to your boredom than to play a game of whoever-cums-first-loses-whilst-cockwarming-your-boyfriend?

"first one to cum loses, mk?" you said as you slowly sank down on his dick, the rain aggressively colliding with the many windows in your shared bedroom, branches of various plants brushing against them due to the audible wind,
"what happens if you lose?" mingyu softly whispered,
"dunno, nothing i guess," you lightly shrugged as you playfully clenched around him, making gyu whimper lightly as his dick twitched in your warm walls,
"are you sure? we can do something," he looked at you with soft eyes, making your heart flutter, his curly hair and pretty eyes, only making your heart swell even more,
"how about the first person to cum has to do whatever the other person says for the rest of the day?" he suggested,
"a tad unoriginal, but alright," you chuckled, smiling, lightly kissing his heavenly lips, unfortunately being broken a few seconds later when you say, "hmmm..tell me about your week," as thunder was heard in the distance,
"uh, o-ok. where do you want me to start?" he mumbled into your neck as you enveloped him with your arms,
"anywhere you'd like, love," placing affectionate pecks along his forehead and temples,
"um..ok. so basically on monday i was at the coffee shop down the road right? and like so i wanted to get some food cuz i was kinda hungry, and then this person walked up to me out of nowhere and quoted some random lovesong from the 70's and tried to ask me out on a date but then i told them that i had a girlfriend aka you and then so yeah. i showed them a picture of you and me together and they were really surprised that you weren't built like a twig next to me and that you were actually around my height and like then yeahâŠ..and yeah. then on tuesday i was out buying groceries AND THIS CASHIER FLIRTED WITH ME TOO LIKE WHY AM I HOT LIKE?! AND THEN ON WEDNESDAY I SPILLED THE TTEOKBOKKI AND COOKIES THAT I MADE FOR YOU ALL OVER THE FLOOR SO I COULDNT ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING FOR YOU AND I WANTED TO JUST DO SOMETHING NICE FOR YOU. IM ACTUALLY ABOUT TO GO FERAL AT ANY MOMENT AND JUST LIKE START SCREAMING AND RUNNING AROUND LIKE A RABID DOG-"
"HOOOOOOOOOLD ON, IF YOU GO FERAL IM GONNA HAVE TO CALL PETA MINGYU, SO PLEASE DONT GO FERAL I LOVE YOU OK?" you quickly interrupted gyu with a non-grammatically correct but functional sentence nonetheless,
"fine," he pouted,
"alright continue," and as mingyu continued to ramble on about his horrible week, although you felt terrible for this sad puppy you were also extremely confused on how all of a sudden you felt his dick soften and his cum just sit there in your pussy,
"um, gyu?"
"HUH?? WHAT'S GOING ON?"
"how the fuck did you cum from talking about bad stuff that happened to you? is this some kink of yours that we haven't discussed yet?"
"how the f- oh.." mr kim of mingyu realized, "so..i lost.."
"yup,"
"soâŠwhat do you want me to do first?" gyu blushed,
"well, how about you eat me out and then we cuddle for the rest of the day?"
"hmm..ok!" mingyu smiled with his pretty canines and dived down in between your legs as the rain continued to fall against your windows, the wind and trees making the setting even more relaxing for your saturday chill.

Backseat rider
Peter Parker x fem!reader (She/her)
Inspo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wU9lOKWFG54
I tried to write this in the second person so please tell me how you like it.
Summary: Inspired by the wonderful song Backseat Rider by Sara Kays, with my little twist on it, and with a happy ending.
You and Peter have been friends for a long time, and he promised you the first ride in his car. When you come back from your Europe trip, MJ is sitting in the passenger side. The fact that you are in love with him doesn't really help.
Or: Peter promised you a ride in his car and his stupid plan fails because he is jealous.
Warnings: angst, fluff, bad writing, grammatical mistakes,
Word count: 5.1k
English isn't my first language so please don't mind the grammar and sentence structure mistakes and stuff. If you have any suggestions on how to improve my writing, please let me know.
! Please don't repost my work anywhere without my permission. Thank you!
My masterlist *******

9. September 2013
It was the first day of school and you were standing at a bus stop just a few blocks from your new apartment. You and your parents just moved to queens and you were starting in a new school.
With your new schoolbag which you got for your 12th birthday just 3 days ago slung over your shoulders, you tapped your foot nervously against the concrete under your newly polished shoes.
You were so excited to start 6th grade in a new school, away from the people in your old one. You were always a shy kid and some of the kids from your previous school picked on you just because of that.
The school became hell and you started making excuses as to why not to go in. At first, your parents were annoyed thinking you were just lazy. But you later opened up about your struggles and they started to take action.
But before much happened, one of your parents got a job opportunity in Queens, New York, and without much thinking, took it. When you left the school, you felt like you could finally breathe. A huge boulder fell off your shoulders and you were so excited to find some new friends and meet new people. To get a new start.
Due to the traffic, the bus came with a 7 minutes delay. And as the bus rounded the corner to arrive at the bus stop, a frazzled-looking boy came crashing into you.
Before you could crash to the ground, he caught your hand and pulled you towards him in an effort to save you from crashing into the hard ground.
âI am so so sorry, I didnât mean to I fell asleep and burned my toast and spilled toothpaste on my shirt, and â he took a deep breath before he continued with his rambling.
âOh god I am so sorry, Iâm ramblingâ He scratched the back of his neck.
âItâs alright, truly. But I would really appreciate it if you let me go.â You said quietly and the boyâs eyes widened in horror.
âSorry, sorryâ he kept apologizing and mumbling underneath his breath.
âPlease stop apologizing, nothing much happened,â You laughed lightly and he breathed out in relief.
âIâm Peter, by the way, Peter Parker,â he introduced himself more calmly. Now, that he wasnât rambling and frantically running his hands through his hair, you could finally focus on his features. He was slightly shorter than you, with curly brown hair and chocolate brown eyes that were still tinted with sleep.
âNice to meet you Peter my name is (Y/N) (L/N).â You introduced yourself and you stepped together into the bus. You looked around for two places to sit, preferably together.
âThere,â Peter pointed to the back of the bus. You pushed through the crowd of people standing and made it to the seats. Peter let you sit beside the window and sat beside you.
âThe public transport in new york is so horrible,â Peter whined and you raised your eyebrow.
âIs it? I just moved in like 2 weeks ago so I didnât have much time to explore.â
âOh, so this is your first day of a new school.â His eyes widened in realization and you nodded.
âWhat school are you going into?â He asked and you could see the excitement in his eyes.
âPalm tree elementary school.â You answered and Peter jumped in his seat.
âOh my, me too, thatâs so exciting, Ned will be so happy,â he squealed you smiled widely.
You talked the rest of the ride to your stop, and through the short walk to your school. This boy might just make this school much more exciting than you thought.
20. August 2019
âOkay, just wait for me outside of your apartment building Iâll come and pick you up,â Peter said into the phone and you hummed in acknowledgment.
âOkay Petey, Iâll be waiting, I missed you so much throughout the summer, Iâm sorry I didnât callâ you apologized feeling guilty.
âItâs okay, I get it, I was the one to suggest it. Okay, Iâm leaving, Iâll be at yours in about 10 minutes. â
You and your family went to Europe for the majority of summer. You tried to keep in contact but of course, it was hard the time difference made it very difficult to find a time where you both can call and donât lose sleep.
The first person to stop trying was Peter. On a rare call one night, he informed you that he didnât want you to lose sleep just because you wanted to talk to him
âDonât worry, youâll tell me everything when you get back, just donât forget to bring me souvenirs.â Peter teased and you laughed sadly. You missed him so much and the heavy feeling in your heart wouldnât go away.
âOkay, just prepare yourself because Iâve gotten you a souvenir from every single location we went to.â You sniffled.
âHey, donât cry, everything will be alright nothing will change I promise.â
10 minutes later, Peter pulled up to your parking lot and your heart skipped a beat. Your smile widened and the butterflies in your stomach fluttered. This was the first time you saw Peter after a month and a half. You returned from Europe only 4 days ago so you used that time to get rid of the jet lag.
Your smile dropped when you saw a shadow sitting on the passenger side. You shook your head and moved closer to the car. Peter stepped out of the car and you flung your arms around him. He tensed for a bit before he wrapped you up in his arms and breathed in your scent.
âI missed you so much, you have no idea,â he mumbled into your neck and you pressed your lips into his hair.
âI missed you too, for the last two weeks, my parents were a pain in the ass,â you complained and Peter laughed. Then he got serious.
âWell, at least you have parents.â
â...â
âIâm just kidding, donât worry bug,â he giggled and you hit his shoulder lightly.
âI hate these jokes,â you complained.
âI know, thatâs why I make them.â He giggled and you rolled your eyes.
âOkay. Câmon, I have my classmate MJ here, I wanted to introduce you two he stepped away and you wrapped yourself around yourself.â
Peter opened the back door for you and you thanked him. When you got into the car he closed the door behind you and quickly got into the driver seat.
âSo MJ, this is (Y/N). Bug, this is MJ.â He introduced you two and you waved awkwardly.
âHi, I heard about you so much, is so nice to meet you.â MJ greeted and you smiled.
âI would like to say the same but Peter has never talked of you,â you scratched your neck shyly and MJ waved her hand.
âItâs fine, me and Peter only started hanging out about 3 weeks ago, but weâve gotten a lot closer.â She explained and you nodded.
âSo, Peter told me you are in an art school,â Mj started and you shuffled to the edge of your seat so you could hear better.
âYeah, I do interior design, color pallets, and furniture designs.â You explained and MJ nodded her head.
âThat sounds really cool, youâll be the first Iâll contact when Iâm furnishing my houseâ MJ laughed and you giggled.
âYeah sure, just give me a call,â
But then, it got quiet. You just relaxed against the seat behind you and closed your eyes for a few moments.
âSo, I saw the star wars movies the other day, it was so good,â MJ exclaimed and Peter laughed out loud.
âI tried to get this lady into it but she hated it. The same with star trek.â Peter said, pointing at you.
âYeah, I hate it so much,â you chimed in but they didnât respond. They just continued laughing and talking without you. You couldnât help but think that they looked so much like the two of you looked when you talked about both of your favorite things.
----
MJ sat in the passenger seat for the next five weeks. When you traveled to school, from school, or even during the weekends.
She was there every single time Peter came to pick you up. And to be honest, it hurt just a bit more every single time you saw her sitting in the front seat of his car.
-----
You and Peter were supposed to go to see the new astronomical exhibition today. You were getting ready in your room when your eyes drifted over a framed picture on your vanity table. It was taken last summer, before he got his car, before MJ. You had taken it with your Kodak disposable camera in a parking lot in front of your local Target. You remember it like it was yesterday.
21. July 2018
It was around 10 p.m. when you and Peter left the target with a plastic bag of candy and a brand new disposable camera that you found in the sale aisle. You tore the safety tape away from the box and pulled out the instruction manual.
âIâm so excited; Iâve never had any of these.â You exclaimed and Peter chuckled at your happy face, threw his arm around your shoulder, and pulled you in closer to him.
âYou are going to love it, itâs so fun. Especially because you have no idea how the photos are gonna turn out.â He smiled and you nodded.
âI always watch the tiktoks of peopleâs reactions to the developed photos, and they always look so happy, I want to try it.â you declared and pulled the camera out of the box.
âFirst things first bug, just a quick info, you need a lot of lightning for the photos to turn out good,â Peter explained and you waved your hand mindlessly, messing around with your temporary camera.
You quickly pulled out your phone and turned on the flashlight. You put the phone on the ground in front of him and he looked at you puzzled.
âWill you do me a favor and be the first photo on this cameraâs film?â You asked him and Peter nodded, acting very posh and snobby.
âIt would be an honor, my lady,â he faked a bow and you burst out laughing.
âOkay smile for me,â you giggled and Peter smiled widely. He was so beautiful. Hair messy, and a hoodie a little too big on his body, with the long sleeves making cute sweater paws.
âCome onnn take the picture so we can eat the sweets,â Peter whined and you quickly snapped the picture of him. He bent down, took your phone from the ground, and turned off the flashlight.
âCome on I even got us and your fuzzy socks so your toes wonât get cold,â he said and you hugged him from behind.
âyou are the best, you know that?â you mumbled and he shrugged.
âMightâve mentioned it a few times beforeâ You let him go and he pulled out the blanket from his backpack.
âCome on letâs sit here,â he pulled you towards the curb a few feet away from the spot you were standing at. He sat down, wrapped his arms around your legs, and rested his face on your stomach.
âLetâs sit here and eat all these delicious candiesâ he looked at you with wide eyes and you dragged your fingers through his hair, scratching at his scalp.
âOkay Doll, letâs do this,â you teased and he blushed hard.
âStoop you know I blush when you call me that,â he complained and you laughed softly. You gently unwrapped his arms from your legs and sat down next to him.
âSo, let dig in,â you rubbed your palms together and he put the bag between you two.
âI want the Reeseâs,â you said and Peter handed them to you.
----
âSmiile,â you smushed your cheek against Peterâs and he smiled into the camera. The flash had gone off and you smiled to yourself.
âI bet this oneâs gonna be so good.â He said and you nodded.
âSo, as I was saying, May told me that she wants to buy me a car for my 18th birthday. I donât know how she wants to do that but Iâm not complaining.â Peter gushed and you wrapped your arms around his middle.
âIâm so happy for you, you deserve it.â You smiled and Peter continued.
âI want to take you on a road trip when we finish school. All around the US. From New York to L.A,â he looked at you hopefully and you smiled at him widely.
âThat sounds so good, we can go to grand canyon and Zion and so much more, Oh my God, we will need so much more of these disposable cameras. Peter, we need so much food and tents and sleeping bags and maps.â You took a deep breath before you continued.
âWe should make a checklist, we should start preparing, Peter why are we sitting here?â you asked and Peter gently shushed you by putting his pointer finger on your lips.
âWe still have 2 years bug, no need to overthink it, everything is gonna be fine.â He assured you and you nodded.
âCome here,â he pulled you towards him and your head landed on his chest. You snuggled into his chest and breathed in his scent.
----
You were pulled back to reality when your phone rang. It was Peter.
âHey (Y/N), we are nearly here, only about 4 minutes.â He informed and your breath got stuck in your throat. âWEâ. MJ is coming with you. He didnât ask, he didnât inform you beforehand. He just invited her.
âUmmm Pete Iâm suddenly not feeling very well, I think I should go and lay down, maybe you should go alone,â you mumbled and he hummed.
âOkay, get better alright? We can go somewhere tomorrow.â He suggested and you hummed in agreement, as you couldnât do anything else without breaking down.
âOkay (Y/N) goodnight, get well soon. Iâll see you tomorrowâ He didnât wait for your response before he hung up.
You stared at the phone as the tears cascaded down your cheeks and you put no effort into stopping them. You slowly wiped off the makeup you put on just a few moments prior and threw out the cotton pad.
You stood up from your vanity and moved over to your bed. You couldnât understand it. What have you done wrong? Just a few months prior, Peter would drop everything to be with you when you werenât feeling that well. Now, he didnât even ask what was wrong.
You cursed yourself as you tried to keep your sobs at bay. You lost him and it was all your fault. If you called more often or at least texted and kept in contact during the summer, everything would be fine. He wouldnât be in his car with someone else but with you. But the more you thought about it the more your mind betrayed you,
âWait, he was the one to suggest that you two would stop the contact, did he get tired of you? Did he want to get rid of you? Is he sending signals by hanging out with MJ every single time they should be hanging out alone?â the thoughts in your brain were running around before they suddenly stopped.
âHe didnât call me bug,â you realized. He always called you bug, never (Y/N). He only called you that when he was annoyed or angry with you. You started thinking back to every single hangout you had in the past 5 weeks to see if you could stumble upon a memory where you angered or annoyed him. Nothing.
Your shoulders sagged and you put your face in your hands.
âWhat should I do now,â you asked yourself as you tried to remain calm and not to let any more sobs out. As you looked around your room, slowly calming down, you saw a piece of Peterâs hoodie peeking out from your closet. In a rage of fury, sadness, and anger, you quickly gathered every single piece of clothing Peter ever gave you and put them in a cardboard box.
Taking out a piece of paper, you took your favorite pen and started writing a little note for your now âexâ best friend.
Dear Peter, returning your clothes, maybe you can give them to MJ, now that she is your best friend and you donât care about me. Couldâve at least told me you didnât want me in your life anymore, instead of sending mixed signals and hurting me by that. Fuck you. â Love, (Y/N)
You signed it with fury coursing through your veins and closed the box with duct tape. You swiped the stray tears that fell down your cheeks and threw on a hoodie.
âGoing out for a few minutes!â you shouted to your parents and closed the door, before hearing their response. After putting the hood up, you opened the window to the fire escape and you threw your legs over the window sill, taking the full cardboard box with you.
âLetâs do this,â you mumbled to yourself and dropped down to the ground.
----
The walk to Peterâs apartment didnât take long, only about 10 minutes. But the walk felt so much longer this time, maybe because this would probably be the last time you would ever make it. You started tearing up just at that thought. You didnât think this is how it would end. Six years of friendship ended just because you were too annoying. You shook your head and continued walking; you couldnât afford to burst into tears in the middle of the road.
You stopped in front of Peterâs apartment and let out a shaky breath. This is it. You knew May would be at work, so you let yourself in with the key, underneath their doormat. You stepped into the apartment and closed the door behind you. You rushed into Peterâs room and threw the box on his bed. You didnât want to linger around and experience the pain of remembering all of the memories you and Peter shared in this room.
You looked around one more time, and your eyes watered when you saw your favorite t-shirt thrown over his chair. You really wanted to take it but decided to against it. âHe can do whatever he wantsâ you thought and closed the door behind you.
The walk from his apartment wasnât much better. But it was a bit shorter than the one before. You hadnât had much time to think this time. You just came out of his building and in a few seconds, you were laying in your bed with tears streaming down your cheeks.
Now, that you calmed down a bit and your head cleared, you laid in your bed, looking at the ceiling, face blank of any emotion. You got pulled back into reality by your phone vibrating. You sat up and moved the phone closer to your face. It was Peter.
You had 6 missed calls and 26 unread messages from the curly-haired boy. But you decided to ignore them and turned on the airplane mode. You curled up into a ball and snuggled up into your fluffy blanket. It was going to get better, you will get better, the pain will subdue, the anger will not.
You were so damn angry at him. How could he do this to you, string you along when he doesnât want you in his life anymore? Letting a few tears slip, you let your eyelids droop and let your mind wander into the darkness of sleep.
----
âI donât understand, what does she mean by a new best friend? What does she mean by not want her in my life anymore?â Peter asked as he paced around his room, with your note crumpled up in his right hand.
âI think you did the opposite of what you wanted to do you know?â MJ interrupted him and he looked at her horrified.
âThis is all my fault, Iâm the reason she feels like this,â he mumbled and continued pacing in circles.
âRemind me why you wanted to do this again?â MJ scoffed and Peter stopped to think.
âTo make her jealous,â he mumbled and MJ stood up and hit him across the forehead with a rolled-up engineering magazine she found randomly thrown under his pillow.
âYou are so stupid, Peter. And I canât believe I helped you. But at least I got the cute girlâs number,â she mumbled the last part and Peter ran his shaky fingers through his hair.
âI fucked up,â he announced and MJ glared at him.
âYeah, no shit genius. Remind me how this started again. In detail and soak in just how stupid you are,â she growled out and he got lost in the painful memory.
----
It was around 3 weeks after his best friend left for Europe, he was mindlessly scrolling through Instagram when he saw a photo she posted just 4 hours ago. He went to like it but his thumb froze before he could double-tap. It was a photo of her smiling, looking as beautiful as ever, on a beach with a sunset behind her. But it wasnât her that made him freeze, it was the boy that was standing behind her with his arms wrapped around her waist. She was grinning at him, her smile shining brighter than all of the stars in the night sky.
âWho the fuck are you?â Peter mumbled to himself as he looked over more of the photos in the post. As he scrolled, the pair of them only grew closer on the pictures. Them sharing a meal, them in the sea, them on a carnival with a huge green teddy bear in her arms. Just from the last picture, it was clear that the boy won the plushie in one of those shitty scam carnival games Peter couldnât play even if he really wanted to.
But what really got him, was the post from her private Instagram, the boy from the previous photos was kissing her on the corner of her mouth. Tears gathered up in his eyes as he exited the app and ran his shaky fingers through his hair.
âCould she have a boyfriend? But she didnât tell me,â his breathing got quicker and he had a sudden urge to puke. Before he could stop himself, he opened his contacts app and scrolled to find MJâs phone number, she could help him.
âHey, I know this is a lot to ask but I need you to help me make my best friend jealous.â Those words came from his mouth before he could even think about them.
----
âI told you before you started with this stupid plan of yours that it wonât work out,â MJ snapped him out of his mind. Peter stared into the distance before he snapped out of it.
âI need to go and see her, I need to explain,â Peter rushed out before MJ stopped him.
âYou need to give her some time, she wouldnât want to see you, and only get angry or even more upset.â She explained and Peter nodded in understatement.
âYou are right, I will let her cool off for a week, and then talk to her,â Peter concluded. MJ blinked in surprise.
âAre you sure you want to give her a week? I was thinking more like 2 days, not 7,â MJ said cautiously and Peter huffed out angrily.
âGod, why are you so cryptic, why canât you just tell me and help,â
âBecause this is your relationship, that is on line, not mine. And you want me to solve this for you,â MJ raised her voice and Peter rolled his eyes.
âGod, this is uselessâ he mumbled and the girl in front of him scoffed.
âI can just leave if thatâs what you want,â She stood up to leave but Peter grabbed her forearm gently.
âIâm sorry, I didnât mean that. Iâm just really anxious and I want to see her. But you are right, I shouldnât leave her without explanation for such a long period of time,â Peter apologized and MJ nodded.
âI need to go, mum wants to watch this new movie she saw in Target, Iâll text you okay?â
âOkay bye, enjoy the movie,â Peter mumbled and MJ walked out of his room.
âGreat Parker, just great,â he mumbled to himself as he watched her leave through his window.
----
2 days later
Peter was standing in front of your school, waiting for you to finish. The last two days have been torture for him and he couldnât wait to talk to you. When he heard the bell ring on the inside of the building, he stood up from the bench he was sitting on and moved closer to the main entrance, just a precaution and so he wouldnât miss you walking out.
He started to get worried when he didnât see you walk out even after 15 minutes.
âMaybe they had some science lab and are cleaning up or something he thought to himself to calm down a bit. Then, he saw one of your friends, Bee, walk out and he waved at them.
âHey, she isnât here today,â Bee said to Peter. He only frowned. Thatâs weird.
âOkay, thanks Bee, do you think she could be at home? Is she sick?â Peter asked and Bee frowned at him.
âI thought you were best friends, you donât know where she is?â Bee asked him and Peter looked down looking very guilty.
âWe had a fight,â he mumbled and Bee scoffed.
âWell, I guess you fucked up pretty bad because she never misses school.â
âI know, I fucked up and I hurt her, but I just want to make it better, I gave her time to cool off and now, I need to apologize,â Peter explained and Bee nodded their head.
âOkay Parker, last chance, if you hurt her to this extent ever again, Iâll kick you in the balls.â Bee threatened and Peter nodded.
âDonât worry, this is the first and last time this has ever happened, wonât hurt her ever again, I promise,â Peter said and Bee could tell his words were genuine.
âFine Parker go, and if she is not at school tomorrow, you are a dead man, Iâm telling you that right now.â
âDonât worry Bee, Iâm going to make this right,â Peter promised as he walked away from your school.
----
âHoney, someone is here to see you,â Your mom called out and you looked from under your blanket. You couldnât function correctly for the past few days, the loss of your best friend being too much to bear.
âTell them to go away please,â you mumbled and she shook her head sadly. You stopped crying a while ago, no tears left in your body.
You heard a gentle knock on your door.
âHey bug,â You whipped your head towards the voice, and the tears you thought ran out, welled up in your eyes. He was there, even after he exchanged you for someone else.
âPete,â you whispered and he quickly walked towards you and sat on your bed. You threw yourself into his arms but then quickly pulled back and furrowed your eyebrows.
âWhat are you doing here?â you asked and Peter shook his head.
âI came to apologize, I hurt you by my actions and made you think something, that isnât true at all,â he explained and you tilted your head, reminding Peter of a cute, confused puppy.
âI will just tell you the truth, and hope you will be able to forgive me.â
âI was jealous. Itâs simple as that, and now that Iâve said it out loud, it sounds so stupid.â He took a deep breath and slowly tangled his fingers in yours.
âThe truth is, I have feelings for you. You know what? Scratch that, Iâm in love with you and have been for a long time. When I saw you with the guy in Europe, being all cute and sweet together, I just lost it.â He confessed and looked up to see your face. You had an unreadable expression on your face.
âFuck, he even got you a huge teddy bear from the carnival scam games, I could never do that for you, and I know you love that corny stuff.â He said with a shaky voice and could feel the tears push into his eyes.
âI wanted to make you jealous, but I hurt you instead and that hurts me even more than seeing you with that boy.â He said and then kneeled on the floor beside your bed. He took your other hand into his and kissed your knuckles gently.
âIâm so sorry Bug, please forgive me,â he begged as he put his forehead against your hand. The tears that gathered in his eyes flowed freely down his perfect face and it hurt you to see him like this. You took your hand away from his and you could see the quick flash of pain on his face. You caught one tear with your finger and whispered.
âPlease donât cry, Iâm going to cry too,â he quickly looked up and smiled sadly, when he saw your sunken and tired face.
âI forgive you, Peter.â You said with a crack in your voice.
âAnd you know, it actually worked out, I was so jealous when I saw you with her.â You confessed.
âI love you too Peter, I always haveâ you whispered and Peterâs face lit up with joy.
âYou, do?â He asked and you nodded with a slight smile on your face.
âI do, so so much,â You caressed his cheek, shuffled closer to him, and kissed him on the forehead.
âCome here and lay with me,â you demanded and Peter chuckled.
âWell, what my lovebug wants, she gets.â Peter teased and you hid your face in the blanket.
âI kinda like it,â you whispered shyly and Peter laughed lightly.
âScoot over love, let me lay with you.â You shuffled over and Peter slipped under your blanket. He laid down and slowly maneuvered your body, to lay comfortably on his chest.
âWeâll talk more tomorrow, weâll work it out, I promise.â You mumbled and Peter nodded and kissed the top of your head.
âI love you, Peterâ
âI love you my Bug,â It was quiet for a bit before Peter spoke once again.
âSo, who was the boy in the photos?â
âPETER!â
-----
I'm sorry I kind of disappeared for two months, but I had an extreme case of writer's block, but I am back. But I still have no ideas so if you have any ideas, I would be forever thankful if you pitched them to me.
I would also like to thank you for 97 followers, it's unbelievable.
I would really appreciate it if you gave me some feedback and told me what I can change.
Thanks for reading

What the actual fuck do you mean exclude george? Sure let me just throw this guy whoâs not in the relationship into my karlnapity art real quick. No one is ever excluding him heâs just not part of the relationship. Thatâs not how relationships work. Heâs a very close friend to all three of them but beyond that itâs weird to imply that heâs platonically involved in their romantic relationship.
first of all, dont be fucking rude to me on my own blog, please, especially if ur on anon :) i only feel bad about blocking anons on accident /srs
second of all, i see your point, and i want to explain this is not the context i was making the post in mind with (idk if this sentence was grammatically correct but fuck that)
i do not mean "put c! george in c! karlnapity explicitly romantic-focused works e.g. in art or fanfiction" i mean dont exclude c! george from karlnapity dynamic, in literally every other context, you romantic-focused fucks.
what do i mean by that? (all this is rp/ so i dont have to keep on adding c!)
george is inherently ingrained into the karlnapity dynamic, they were since the beginning of the relationship. in literally every scene that isnt explicitly romantic (like karlnapity discussing their relationship status), george is right alongside them, individually and as a trio.
george and sapnap are brothers and hunters, george and quackity are best friends, and karl and george are the same person in different fonts (i.e. they think extremely similarly and fit together perfectly - in the stream when they were putting around kindom posters they guessed the same number from 1-100 and then 1-1000, following the exact same thought process).
then theres them four, as a dynamic. there are exactly two (2) events where karl, sapnap and quackity are present, but george isnt: 1: november 16th and disc war finale. and canonically, quackity isnt even there for the second event so sucks to suck ig
to be fair karl and sapnap mightve been present for the election day when george was asleep but imma be honest idk i didnt watch the vod cus george wasnt in there :p
narratively, george is an important part of karlnapitys dynamic. in the story, you cant just exclude george out of karlnapity without making it extremely out of character. just with this seasons examples:
who gives quackity news about kinoko? george
who sapnap goes with to look for quackity? george
who karl wants to live with over sapnap, his own fucking fiance? george
THEN theres canonical very heavy implication that big q has romantic feelings for george ("george i thought i was only in love with you!"), and that he wanted to propose to them ("i wanted to propose-")
and here comes my biggest issue, the one i had in mind while making that post:
its the exclusion of george in fanwork, along with fucking horrible mischaracterization of em. i cant read a single karlnapity fic thats not horribly mischaracterized, mainly due to the fact the fandom downplays georges part in their relationship.
if you stop focusing on the romantic part of the dynamic (which admittedly wasnt that big part of it for most of their dynamic), ALL karl, sapnap, quackity and george play an important role in their dynamic, and minusing george out of that is pure nonsense.
it makes as little sense as excluding sapnap out of the dream team for the sake of dnf. are dnf an important dynamic? absolutely. is dream team an equally important dynamic? fucking yes!!
and if you think about it, whats the reason of the entirety of fandom thinking karlnapity as a relationship has more importance than the fiances + george? oh right!! the fucking need to disregard any and every platonic relationship in favour of the romantic ones!! which is fucking annoying!! especially as an aromantic person!!
with all due respect (which is very little to none at this point), i am not saying "make everything romantic" im saying "stop fucking making everything about romance"
im sorry if i cant articulate my point well /gen, im bad at explaining, so if you have any further questions about my stance, please feel free to ask, just dont be fucking condescending about it.
#I WAS ONLY IN LOVE WITH YOU#i probably sound fucking rude but if u come into MY inbox and think you have the right to be rude to me imma be rude right back at ya idgaf#bruh of fucking course the only thing you care about is the fucking romantic part of the dynamic this isnt even funny anymore#ALSO I CAN FUCKING GIVE YOU A TIME STAMP FOR THE QUOTE#<- sry im excited about it#negativity#im genuinely sorry i tried my best to get my point across but im bad at putting my thoughts on the paper so if anyone would like further#explanation of any of these points feel free to ask just dont be an asshole about it please#âïž ask#i just want to read some good karlnapity fics where george is equally as important because They Are!!!#oh and disclaimer: i use mostly they/them for c! george if anyones confused

dark blue tennessee
Pairing: Agent Whiskey x Reader
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 4.8k
Summary: It was one thing being without him while he was alive. It was another to lose him all together
Warnings:Â Major character death, grief-induced alcoholism, descriptions of blood and injuries, vague allusions to suicide. None of this is beta read so please donât shoot me for any grammatical errors!
None of this seemed real to you. None of it felt real. It would have brought you some comfort if it wasnât - that way you could reason with yourself that this was all the result of some horrific nightmare, thatâd youâd wake up with a small gasp in his arms, safe and away from whatever dark terror had enveloped your mind. You werenât one to usually have nightmares but when you did he would always be there, his embrace warm and tight, a single hand running through your hair in a soft pattern, and his unmistakable southern drawl whispering into your ear.Â
This wasnât a dream however. No matter how wrong it felt, how surreal and horrific the whole situation was, it was all real. Perched on the edge of a barstool, you glanced over at the almost empty bottle of whiskey beside you. You thought it would take the pain away, dull your senses and let you pretend for two seconds that he wasnât really gone, but if anything, the whiskey made it worse. Everything reminded you of him, day in and day out, every morning you woke up and all you could notice was that he wasnât there. His clothes were, his Stetson perched on a hook on the back of your bedroom door, his stupid belt buckle that youâd always mocked him for...but not him. You couldnât bear to box away any of it. It may bring you pain to see all these items laid out, as if they were expecting their owner to return someday, but shoving it all in the back of a closet seemed so...disrespectful to you. It would be almost the same as forgetting him in your mind, and you refused to.Â
It had been only two weeks since you first received that fateful call, the one that you prayed to high heavens you would never hear. Thank god you were home when you got the call - if youâd been out with your friends, or heaven forbid at work you donât know what you would have done. It was a moment that you often replayed over in your mind, if for nothing more than the torture of reminding yourself of the day you had broke like glass shattered on a white cloth.Â
Trailing the pad of your finger over the edge of your glass, you tossed your head back as you downed yet another glass of liquor. Every detail of that memory stuck out to you, even the most insignificant things that no one else would ever mention. Youâd taken the day off work, already feeling shitty straight up from the moment the day had begun. Youâd been making something to eat, just some toast because you couldnât be bothered with anything else, and right when you were searching the fridge for a jar of jam you had heard the phone ring.
Without a second thought youâd scooped it up in your hands and answered it, thinking it would be one of your friends calling to try to get you to come out with them to some bar or something that night. You hadnât guessed it would be anything important. âHello?â.
âHi, am I speaking to Y/N?â. You furrowed your brow at the response, not immediately recognising the voice. You considered hanging up for a brief moment but something in you told you to stay on the line.
âYou are. Iâm sorry, who is this?â.Â
âMy name is Ginger Ale. Iâm a colleague of your partner, Jack Daniels. Iâm very sorry to have to inform you this way, but heâs perished in a horrible incidentâ.Â
Everything around you seemed to collapse in that moment. The whole world might as well have fallen away around you the minute you heard those words. It was a curious thing, the death of a loved one. It often comes so suddenly, and so unexpected that you feel like youâre climbing the stairs to your room in the dark, thinking thereâs just one more step than there actually is, and feeling yourself plummet down into the abyss below. It was nothing like youâd ever experienced before - you might as well have been falling deep into the shadowy chasm right at the moment. Your grip on the phone tightened as you struggled to find the words, or any words really, to say in response as tears started to gather around the corners of your eyes. âW-what? What do you mean...heâsâŠâ you trembled, stumbling on your feet as you fell against the wall in a daze, the world somehow seeming both screaming loud and quiet all at once.Â
âHe was injured badly during his last mission - multiple gunshot wounds from a certain run in with a couple of gangsters. He was...he was barely alive when we brought him inâ Ginger explained, trying her best to comfort you but you barely took any notice of her words as the same thought played over in your head. Heâs gone. Heâs dead. Heâs fucking dead, and you could have stopped it. Itâs all your fault.Â
âArenât you guys supposed to have that weird gel stuff that heals gunshot wounds? Surely...surely he could have been saved, right?â you asked frantically, your cheeks streaked with tears and flushed with grief. It took everything in you not to fall apart right then and there, dropping the phone to the floor and screaming out in sheer agony of the pain that was ripping through you.Â
âNot this time, sadly. Iâm really sorry, Y/Nâ. There was a small pause on the other end of the line before Ginger spoke again, her tone indicating her hesitance at divulging such information to you. âHe also insisted that we donât bother, that he knew his time was up with this one. I was watching him on this mission - he went into it all quite recklessly, which isnât completely new for him butâŠâ.
âBut?â you asked, prompting her to finish her sentence but she never did. A heavy silence hung between the both of you, punctured lightly by the sound of your heavy breath which you tried desperately to keep in check. Some small part of you was still in some sort of disbelief, wanting to fervently deny that any of this was happening. This is just a dream right? Iâll wake up back in bed, Iâll get up and call Jack, and heâll be alive and well. None of this is real. It canât be real...
âI want to see him. Please, just let me see him. Let me at least say goodbyeâ.
_
You hadnât taken much notice of your surroundings on your way to Statesman Headquarters - everything might as well have been a blur to you from the moment you stepped through the doors to the second you walked off the platform of the elevator towards the medical wing. As soon as you spotted him all sense of decorum and logic was thrown out the window, any sense of composure melting away to nothing the very second his body came into view. Ginger had been beside you, probably as a general gesture to ensure you wouldnât entirely lose it once you gained a single glimpse of him but alas, as soon as the elevator pulled to a stop and the doors pulled open to reveal a lifeless Agent Whiskey lain across the stretcher, everything you had ever known seemed to fall to pieces from under you. It was as if your entire world had collapsed, had stopped revolving the minute you laid eyes on his lifeless form. Without another seconds hesitation you rushed towards him, tears beginning to cascade down your cheeks as you bore witness to the unfortunate result of the tragedy that had struck.
It was as if the floodgates had opened right then and there - once you started crying, the tears just wouldnât stop. With every ounce of your being you wished that somehow, by some godforsaken miracle, your touch would bring him back, that his eyes would magically flutter open and would greet you with those enchanting brown eyes that you had come to know every day of your life since the moment you had first met. That he would maybe, if only by the simple wish of your heart, say the one thing you were always angling to hear truthfully, in a way that you could put more than a simple faith in. As if you were a broken record, you couldnât stop repeating his name over and over, like if by some divine intervention that alone would turn the clock back and have him lying next to you, his hand caressing your cheek and firing one of his signature flirty quips at you as you woke up in bed, catching a whiff of that ever-present scent of whiskey that mixed beautifully with his cologne. If only it were that simple. If only that were possible.
Instead you laid a hand against his cold forehead, now devoid of any warmth of life it once felt. Some would say that the dead looked almost peaceful in a way but you saw none of that: even in death Jack somehow looked anguished, like there was something left behind that he wanted to say but simply couldnât go back to.Â
âI canât feel you anymoreâŠâ you murmured, your voice wobbling violently. Leaning down towards him, you cradled his head between your palms, whispering his name softly and feeling your own tears decorate his cheeks. Ginger, or maybe somebody else, said something in the background that you couldnât take any notice of, your mind fixated only on the man you loved and the unfortunate reality that presented itself to you now.Â
It wasnât supposed to be this way.
_
The funeral had only been held a week afterwards. From a planning perspective, it was easy to organise his final affairs - for whatever reason youâd been named as the executor of his will, a fact that came as a shock to you once you had been served the information by the attorney. The two of you werenât ever married, although you had attempted to float the idea once or twice, and his mother was still alive so it seemed odd to you that of all people to be left in charge of his estate Jack chose you. Emotionally, it had been a taxing revelation for you: on top of having to carry the stinging pain of finding out the man you loved had died, you had to be the one organising his affairs. You knew after leaving the medical wing of Statesmans Headquarters that day that you wanted nothing more than to let your own sorrow overcome you and let yourself fade out of existence, his voice haunting your every waking moment until you finally decided to let go entirely and throw yourself off the brink of insanity. Thatâs what you felt you deserved anyway.
His funeral had been the worst of it. You had silently prayed that maybe you would have numbed yourself out a bit. The most agonising part of it all were the hoards of people coming up to you asking how you were. It took everything in you to stop yourself from confessing everything. If they knew, theyâd hate you. Theyâd blame you. The gossip would start, the theories and rumours flying high, the whispers you could hear in your head as if they were real. Somehow youâd pulled through, despite the inclination to break down at any given moment. But of course, that wasnât the end. Youâd buried him, now you had to face the mortifying reality of living without him.Â
With every passing day the memories became stronger. You never told any of them what had happened the last time you saw Jack - you couldnât tell them. It had been eating at you from the inside ever since you picked up the phone that cursed day, tearing apart your mind and leaving nothing in its wake but heartbreaking grief and despair. Itâs your fault. Youâre the reason this happened. If you two hadnât fought, if you hadnât told him to fuck off on the phone that night, he wouldnât have gone on that mission. You killed him. Youâre a murderer.Â
All of these thoughts and more wormed their way between different glasses of whiskey, letting you lose track of both time and how many glasses you had. No matter how much you drank though it never dulled the grief nor the guilt that youâd been torturing yourself with from the moment you woke up every day to the moment you went to sleep. Actually, even in your sleep you couldnât escape it, being plagued by nightmares and the like increasing in degrees of terror the longer they went on. It was why you now avoided any sort of conscious effort to sleep, only succumbing when youâd become so drunk that you had bent yourself over the back of the couch and cried as much as your body would let.Â
You swore to never let anyone know what had happened, that Jack and you had technically broken up a few days before his death. It already ate at you enough that you had to run over the memories in your mind, every last word you spat at him on repeat for your own infinite suffering. âIt feels like wherever we go, sheâs there. And sheâs so beautiful, and perfect, and dead. I canât compete with a ghost, Jackâ. Scowling to yourself, you scooped up your glass and took yet another sip, feeling nothing but regret towards how everything played out. You didnât regret what you said - on some level, you still felt it was true. You knew Jack would forever hold a candle for his ex-wife, but youâd grown tired of feeling like you were second place to a dead woman, as if the only reason he kept you around at all was to fill a void that could only truly be filled by the one person he could never have back. It had been selfish of you, in some way, but youâd deserved more. You loved Jack with everything you had, and you wanted him to feel the same way back, and although he swore he did you could plainly see that wasnât the case.
âDarlinâ, please, donât be like this. Youâre my only love and you know that. Youâre being ridiculous about all thisâ
âThen why do you still wear your ring? Why do you get dismissive whenever I try to bring up moving in together, or marriage, or anything. Itâs been two fucking years of this. You can do whatever you want, Jack but Iâll tell you one thing: youâll be doing it alone. Iâm outâ.Â
âFor fucks sakeâŠâ you cursed, slamming your glass back down on the table with a loud thud, your words slurred beyond all comprehension. A few drops of whiskey sloshed out of the glass onto the countertop, creating a small puddle on the marbled surface but you didnât much care. What was the point in caring anyway?
You still had to pack up his home, a reminder that only contributed to your pain. You were supposed to have taken care of that before now, at least a week ago but you couldnât bring yourself to enter his home. Iâll do it tomorrow...maybe. Yeah, tomorrow. Deciding firmly on that, you sipped the last of the liquor and stumbled off the seat of the barstool, the world spinning around you as you fumbled your way through the dim light of your apartment to where your bedroom was, throwing your intoxicated body amongst the heap of unmade bed sheets and burying yourself within them, crying until you passed out in a deep slumber.Â
_
Standing outside the door to Jackâs penthouse apartment, you stared forward with a muted expression upon your face, the key to his place gripped firmly between your fingers as if it would disappear from your hands at any moment. Youâd been there for a good five minutes by then, meaning to break out of your state of catatonia to only be stopped again by yourself, kicking off a seemingly endless cycle in which you remained stuck in front of his door. You knew you had to go in there eventually: it wasnât like everything of his would magically disappear if you just ignored it. It was still hard though, since you knew the moment you stepped through the door youâd be hit by the unmistakable scent of him. Almost like you were crossing a threshold of sorts, only with a feeling of emptiness on the other side instead of anything resembling happiness. Seeing his things would only remind you of how he wasnât there among them, where he should be, which spiralled onto other thoughts, such as reminiscing on his gorgeous brown eyes and that honeyed southern accent you adored on him, and everything else that once made your heart spark with love. You felt your breath tremble as your knuckles turned white from holding the key with such might. This was a bad idea. You werenât ready for this. Maybe you should just go home and call it a day.Â
No. You have to do this now. You might as well rip the bandaid off, lord knows youâll have to do it eventually anyway.
Keeping your breath paced, you raised your shaking hand to the lock of the day, slowly inserting the key and twisting it until you heard the unmistakable click inside. Before you could talk yourself out of it, you pushed open the double doors and pulled yourself inside, your high heels clicking on the linoleum floors.
Everything was exactly how youâd last seen it, how Jack had last left it. Not that you expected any different of course. The only people who had probably been there in the past two weeks since his death were people from Statesman to collect various bits of the agency's technology and other gadgets Jack had left lying about. You never knew much about his life as part of the secret service: during your relationship Jack had preferred to stay off the subject of his job as much as possible. He even said himself that you shouldnât have known about his double life in the first place but when it became too obvious that keeping it from you was going to hurt your relationship with him in the long term heâd sought permission from his boss to have you cleared on the most basic of intel. That never bothered you in the slightest - the least you knew about the agency, the better, a view Jack wholeheartedly agreed with you on. You didnât know him as Agent Whiskey, top agent to Statesman Secret Service trained in espionage. You knew him as Jack Daniels, the cocky womanizer who chased anything in a skirt, the gentleman who had always managed to sweep you off your feet whenever he was around, and the man you had once dreamt of marrying before things went south.Â
All around you were familiar places and objects, things that brought back so many memories yet felt hollow and empty as you looked upon them now. If things were right, heâd be there too, perhaps in the kitchen preparing dinner for you, knowing that you couldnât resist coming over again even if it was the third time that week. Or maybe heâd be on the couch, reclining back with a glass of whiskey and a book, turning his head back to take a gander at you, shooting one of his signature smirks and making a remark about how incredibly gorgeous you looked. Without him, the space felt sullen and void of life, the dust settling on every surface from remaining untouched for two whole weeks by then.Â
Taking a deep breath, you stepped forward and tried as best you could to sort out your thoughts, detaching it as much as you were able to from the memories being back in that apartment brought. His mother already came to you and asked to have a box of certain things belonging to Jack given to her. You knew she was already going through a hell of a rough time herself, her only son winding up dead. She never knew about his life as an agent, being fed a cover story by Statesmans team in order to maintain their secrecy. A bit of you felt jealous of her for that. She would never know the truth, whereas you had to live every day for the rest of your life knowing what happened, being made aware of your own part to play in his fate every hour, every minute, every second.Â
The rest of it, well, you had no idea what to do with it. You thought it would be best to box up as much of his personal items as you could, either to keep for yourself or to hand back to his family, and arrange to have the rest of the furniture sold or given away to a charity shop or something. Moving towards the living room, you began to scoop up the different framed photos you found around the apartment. Some were of him as a kid, either on a horse or in different shots with his family, already sporting that heart melting smile of his. A lot of them were of you and him on various dates - one you stopped to pour over was of the two of you at a diner in Brooklyn, you taking the photo and Jack taking a sneaky swipe of your sundae in the background while you were distracted. You remembered that day so well: heâd just come back from a particularly rough mission in Russia, one that heâd had to stake out for weeks, so it was the first time youâd seen each other in about a month. You looked at how happy you were in that picture, the sight of such joy bringing tears to the corners of your eyes. What you wouldnât give to have those days back, the easier times, before the distance, the fights, the feelings of being second place to a ghost and of course, his own tragic death at the end of it all.Â
At last you made your way to his bedroom, clutching onto the stack of photo frames as if they were a lifeline. You fought with everything in you the urge to just drop everything and crash down onto his bed, cradling one of his shirts in your hands to try to get a whiff of him, pretending that he was still there for only a few seconds. Rather, you walked over towards his bedside table and set the stack of frames down, crouching to your knees and biting back the teardrops threatening to fall from your eyes. Itâs ok. You donât have to do it all in one go. Just gather together some of his personal stuff, and then you can leave.
Opening the drawer, your eyes flitted between the various trinkets and things heâd accumulated, searching to see if there were anything personal that his family might want back when your gaze was instantly drawn to a stark white letter shoved towards the back of the drawer. Scooping it up in your hands, you furrowed your brow as you inspected it further, only to have your breath catch in your throat once you saw your name written in his unmistakable cursive on the front. Â
Immediately you stood yourself up from the floor, your mind rushing into overdrive while you stared at the letter in your palms, hesitantly trailing your fingers up to the top of the envelope to tear it open. Out of all the things to find in Jackâs drawer, you definitely werenât expecting this. You had no clue what it could be, when it was written or even if you should read it at all. Should you just put it back in the drawer and pretend you never found it? Though you supposed it was a bit too late for that, on account of you practically ripping the top of it open. With a hint of uncertainty, you reached into the envelope and lifted the letter out onto your lap, opening it to reveal its contents.Â
The first thing you noticed was the date in the top right corner - April 22, two weeks ago, a day before he went on that mission and met an unkind fate. That alone was enough to make your heart stop, so when your eyes travelled down the page to read the rest of the letter, you might as well have dropped dead right then and there from the sheer pain that was struck through your heart.
I was a damn fool for letting you get away. You and I both know that my dearly departed wife will always hold a special place in my heart, and I know you understand that. I didnât want to admit it until now but I had been becoming distant - every time you brought up marriage, or anything more Iâd get scared. Scared of...well, a lot of different things. Of repeating the same tragedy with you, in some way. Some part of me was worried marrying you would be dishonoring my late wifeâs memory as well. Itâs no wonder you walked out when you did. I donât blame you for your choice, but please allow me to say my piece at least. You never were second to anyone, sweetheart. As much as I will always love Lily, my heart belongs to you here and now. Missing you like this is such sweet sorrow, wonât you come back to me? No matter whether or not you chose to forgive me, or even entertain the idea of givinâ me another chance, I just want you to know that I love you, honeybee. Iâll be waiting for you today, tomorrow, and forever, down in dark blue Tennessee.
- Jack
Every word you read was like another stab to the heart for you, the tears that you had fought so hard to keep in now pouring down your cheeks, small sobs escaping your throat as you collapsed back to the floor with a thud, your heart racing a million miles a minute. There it was, all written down in hasty cursive script - the apology that he never got to give, hidden away in the back of his bedside drawer like an afterthought. Knowing him heâd probably written it out and intended to give it to you before he left for his mission but decided against it for whatever reason. And that final sentence...Tennessee. He mentioned Tennessee. The place where youâd grown up, where youâd lived almost your entire life before moving to New York. The place where youâd met Jack all those years ago, down in a local bar. Youâd been visiting your parents for the week, heâd been there meeting with an investor for Statesman. By some stroke of luck you two had crossed paths, hitting it off and becoming infatuated within mere moments, one thing leading to another until eventually youâd woken up in his bed the next morning. The way youâd initially thought itâd only wanted a one night stand but then became something more. It was all flooding back to you now, triggered by only a few sentences written down on a letter that was never sent. You didnât know what to do, or what to think. The only thing you could do in that moment was lean your head back against the bed and choke on your own sobs, muttering his name over and over for what felt like forever, holding the now crumpled and tear stained letter in your hands.
The hours ticked by, though you took no notice, and when you do eventually move, itâs not to leave the apartment. Your eyes barely leave the ground when you walk, stumbling from room to room in search of a bottle of wine or something stronger to drown your own sorrows in, kicking off your shoes haphazardly and without much care. When you bump against the liquor cabinet, you can hear something fall and shatter off the top, and when you walk back through the shards of glass with the bottles in your hands, you donât even wince when one pierces your foot. With thin streams of blood trickling from the cut on your sole, youâll flick the top off the first bottle you reach for, letting the lukewarm liquid slip down your throat, spiralling you down deeper and deeper into a drunken stupor until finally, the moment comes where you can close your eyes and slip into that familiar void of darkness that you greeted with open arms, those last conscious thoughts being an apology of your own that no one ever got to hear. Iâm sorry, Jack...

I ship you with Peter Maximoff!
Warning: âšcontains swear words, mentions of being high, and grammatical errors probablyâš
Peter is the type of person who thinks of bold and outrageous plans, but is horrible at executing them.
This is especially apparent now that he is part of the X-Men, because of the high stakes that often come hand and hand with these plans.
Yet at this moment, standing in front of you, attempting to respond to your simple and reasonable question, he feels as though the stakes of this plan are higher than any other he has previously made.
You and Peter were very close, most of you X-Men were. Shared trauma bonded you all like a family. So you were very comfortable around each other, like the: "We literally laugh at each other's farts and say 'love ya!' When one of us leaves a room." comfortable, so it concerned you that he seemed so nervous. You repeated your, as previously stated, simple and reasonable question.
"Peter, what the fuck."
You were mid-way through Empire Strikes Back when he first appeared, standing in front of the TV. Generally, when someone is watching a movie alone with the volume level barely audible, at 2 AM in the morning, they do not expect to be interrupted, but there he was. Interrupting you.
So you had asked him if he wanted to watch the movie with you and he said no.
Then you asked him if something was wrong and he said no.
But after he had stood in front of the television long enough for you to have paused the movie, you had come to the conclusion that he was messing with you. Hence the two "what the fuck"s.
He finally responded, seemly returning to his body after his brain's small vacation to who knows where.
"I need to talk to you about something important, and I wanted it to go a certain way but that way never actually happens so I'm doing it another way." Well, that was even more incoherent than his usual sentences.
"Wait- are you high again?"
"No! No. Well, maybe a little- but that's not the point."
"Sure, now what's going on."
"We're like... technically co-workers because of us being X-Men and shit, right?"
"If Bat-Man and Robin are co-workers, then yes."
"Don't be self-deprecating, you're way cooler than a silly side-kick."
You raised your eyebrows at him, "I wasn't Robin in that analogy, but thank you."
"Wait, I'm Robin?"
"You are a grown man who just used the world silly un-ironically, and I feel like that's something Robin would do. Just to clarify I don't know shit about Bat-man."
"Hey I'm barely a grown man- I'm not 25 yet, that would entail being a grown man, and I've got time 'till then! Anyway, stop going off-topic."
"Then move on from being weirdly defensive about being an adult in the eyes of the state."
"Touché. So, we're co-workers."
"Correct. What's the point."
"That's a problem."
"Why?"
"Well, ok this needs to be prefaced so consider this me shushing you in a respectful and not sexist way. You have been shushed."
"...Ok?"
"Shh! Now I get to ramble. So you know movies?" He gestured towards the school's collection of movies that sat next to the tv, and you nodded confused. "So in these movies, things happen certain ways, but those certain ways seem just as scary as the opposite of those ways." Yeah, he was totally high. "So, wow I'm starting so many sentences with the word 'so'. Anyway- I want to tell you something but I don't want it to be like a movie but I don't want it to be like not in a movie either. So I just want to say it then leave. Like- I'm going to run after I say it. Is that okay? You are temporarily un-shushed."
"If you're dying it's not, but if it's basically anything else then yeah. Go for it, you speedy coward."
"Cool. I mean- the nickname hurt but cool. Cool." He looked at you for a second. "Can you like... turn around?"
"Turn around?"
He now acknowledged that that was an odd thing to ask. "...Yeah. Is that dumb?"
"No, no, I'll turn around." To lighten the awkward mood, you made a joke. "A reasonable price for your terrible secrets to be revealed to me." It was not a very funny joke, but you tried your best and earned a (pity) scoff from him.
You were now both sitting criscrossed on the couch, facing the same direction. You were staring at a wall you found very uninteresting, and he was staring at the back of the head belonging to a person he found very interesting.
"So- basically I think you're... pretty..." He said the word intending to add another adjective after it, like 'cool', but he decided against it because that would be stupid. "And I have this problem where when I figure out I want to, quote-unquote, date someone, which is a gross word, by the way, I'm always friends with them. That means it has to be this dramatic thing. But I don't want it to be! You know? I just want to tell you that I have a stupid crush on you like a normal person. And- that's why I suddenly started hating training, because who likes to see people they want to smooch almost fake die, huh? No one! That's who! And I want to explain why I like you, but whenever I talk to Wanda about you, I always end up describing you the way a first grader describes their crush! Like: she's pwetty and smawt or whatever but that's fuckin' dumb. I guess that makes sense because I don't have crushes on people ever, and I barely dated in school, so I have no idea how to do this and I just want to pass you one of those 'hey, do you like me?!' notes with the fuckin' checkmarks!! And I am an adult person who is kind of afraid of kissing! What?!? Also, I don't have abs like Scott! Or boobs, and I know you like people with or without boobs and boobs are great! Also, to backtrack, don't think that I think you would go for Scott, even though if you were to, I would be supportive of you, but also sad because I would prefer if you went for me! So I want to be normal. Normal like the people in movies who meet someone cute and ask them out and not like the movies with the big stupid confessions. Trust me, if I had noticed that I whatever you like a year ago, I would have asked you out! Well no I wouldn't of because I would be too afraid to talk to you. But anyway I made you this," He reached around you and handed you a folded-up note. "Don't open it until I run away, but just leave it here with your response. If you check no, I bet if we paid Jean enough money she would erase this interaction from our brains. I only have seven dollars but I'm betting on a 'friends and family' discount. But.. if you say yes, I can ask you out like a dick in a movie, knowing you'll say yes because I am a speedy coward. I want you to call me a speedy coward when I do cowardly shit speedily, then do this cute thing where you'd be like 'but you're my speedy coward''. Anyway, I'm going to leave now. Love ya, but in the way we always said it beforehand, not in a dramatic confession way. Sorry I delved into my childhood there. Bye." You felt him awkwardly pat your back.
There was a gust of wind that ruffled your hair, and you knew he had run away.
You lifted the note up, mind empty, still processing everything he had rambled to you, and started carefully unfolding it.
It was one of his previously mentioned "Do you like me?" notes.
You willed yourself not to straight-up giggle like a 12-year-old at his note. It was messily written, and clearly on the back of a mission briefing.
Shit, you didn't have a pen. You looked under the couch cushions but there was no form of a writing utensil in sight! The audacity.
You knew Peter well enough to know that he was probably not too far away, waiting for the result of his question and trying not to spy.
"Hey... uh... Peter? I don't have a pen."
Peter hit his forehead with his hand, where the fuck was he going to get a pen? It's not like he owned pens that were actually in a designated spot! How ridiculous would that be, who did he look like, Charles? Charles! Charles has pens in designated pen places!
So Peter ran into the headmaster's office and found a pen. He wrote a small note stating that he borrowed a pen and that he would return it. Looking at the note Peter found it did not fully encapsulate the desperate need for the pen. The note ended up something like this:
Hey Charles! It's Peter! I took borrowed a pen because a very serious situation manner situation has arised. arisen. From, Peter. You can't get mad at me because if you could legally marry my dad you would be married and I would basically be your step son! Thanks half dad!
He thought the addition of the 'step' in stepson effectively hid the fact that Charles was a father figure of his. What was he doing here again? The serious manner!
In an instant of you telling Peter that you did not have a pen, one appeared.
"Thank you!"
You checked the yes box, but had a want to write something adorable. You couldn't think of anything so you just wrote "This was weird." under your checkmark. Well played.
You entertained the idea of resuming your movie but decided against it, you thought it would be more dramatic if you left the room.
The minute you made your exit Peter sprinted into the room. He opened your note, jumped, pumped his fist in the air, realized that was nerdy, and tried to make a cool pose to recover.
Now he just had to figure out how the fuck he was going to ask you out.

~~~
The sun rises on a horrible day.
You wake up knowing it will be a terrible day.
It's one of those days you just know.
You have a mother and an older twin.Â
Your older brotherâs name is Izuku. He is very nice.
Izuku talks about someone named Kacchan?
He doesnât seem half as nice as your brother makes him seem, after seeing him in person.
Izukuâs always very jumpy around Kacchan. Like heâs afraid.
But one day that changed.
~~~
âHey! Extra! Come here!â Bakugou calls out to you, thinking youâre Izuku.
He expects you to jump, and generally be how Izuku is around Kacchan.
But youâre not Izuku. Youâre you. And that sentence does not sound grammatically correct.
Things happen, and because you already knew it was going to be a bad day, itâs no surprise when Bakugou accidentally breaks your arm.Â
He freezes.
He picks you up and runs to Recovery Girl.
She asks what happened, and as Bakugou goes to answer, you whisperÂ
âI fell down the stairs and hurt myself bad.â
Bakugou nods along.
~~~
âWhy did you lie for me?â
âI donât know what youâre talking about.âÂ
âI-â
âI fell down the stairs, and you just helped me to Recovery Girl. Like every other hero-in-training would. Got it?â
âI-yes.â
~~~
Izuku notices that Kacchan doesnât bully him anymore. He asks his friend group, and eventually you.
âHey, what happened with Bakugou? He seems kind of⊠scared? Whenever I come near him, he doesnât even yell! Itâs like a whole different person! Do you know why heâs acting so weird?â He asks one day.
You decide to tell him the truth.
âDonât get angry, big bro.â
You only ever pull out the âbig broâ when you might be in trouble.
âBut you know how I broke my arm the other day?â
âYeahâŠâ
âWell, umm, Kacchan accidentally broke my arm?â
âWHAT?!?â
âShh! Donât yell!â
âWhere is he?â
He looks around and upon seeing him, marches over.
âYou.â
Bakugou turns around
âWhat the hell do you want, stupid deku?â
âYou have no right to look at me like that. You know what you did.â
 âWhat did he do?â Denki asks
âHe broke my siblingâs fucking arm and for what? Petty jealousy? Run after me all you want but donât ever come never my sibling ever again.â
The courtyard is silent. Then the whispers start.Â
âHe seems really angry.â
âThis doesnât seem like him.â
âWe probably shouldnât go after his fucking silbling, jesus christâ
He turns on his heel and brings you back to the school.
Bakugou apologizes later.Â
~~~
âIâm-Iâm sorry.â
âItâs okay, i guess. Just donât do it again, oky? And donât go after my brother!â
Conversation slowly dies out and you two stand there, neither really wishing to part.
Izuku comes up.
âWhat did I tell you, Bakugou?â
He grabs Bakugouâs arm and drags him away
And everyoneâs like woah bitch is pretty damn strong.
Izuku just talked to Bakugou. Saying not to go near his darling sibling.
You were eating lunch outside when a very strange group of people showed up about 100 yards away.Â
Izuku recognized them, apparently.
âThe LOV!âÂ
They grabbed your arm and tried to pull you away.
But Bakugou punched one of them, and so their attention was on them.
âTake me instead.â
So they took him away.
By saving you, he sacrificed himself.
You ought to pay your debts, you know.
Tis the law of equivalent exchange.
Itâs 9 when you leave a note for your brother. Just in case you donât come back.
You sneak out the night after looking for him.
No one is awake in the city.
Itâs a quiet night.
You walk near an abandoned warehouse when you hear an explosion from the inside.
Bakugou?
âJust go the fuck to sleep, brat.â
That sounded like one of the villains!
You stay outside for a while before sneaking in.
The door opens to a hallway
Thereâs a cell on the right side.Â
Inside was⊠Bakugou?
You grab the key and open the cell. You walk in, and shake him awake. He looks exhausted.
âCmon, we gotta go.â
He stirs awake and sits up. He stands up slowly.Â
You lead him out of the cell and down the hall.
While walking down the hall, you two smack into something. Itâs soft and fleshy.
A person?
No. A nomu. Which is arguably worse.Â
But the nomu was pink?
It turned around slowly
The nomu was very vain.
Itâs one of those things you just know.
The nomu still had hair?
And the amount of hairspray the nomu used had probably single-handed caused climate change.
Your fav the nomu is problematic.
After complimenting it many times, the nomu lets you go.
You know, to move the plot forward.
You run out of the building into the nearby woods.
Rushing through the thorny bushes- Bakugou goes first so you donât get hurt.
Kinda hot, ngl.
Katsuki cuts himself on a rather large thorn, and curses quietly.
He knows nowâs no place to be loud.
You rest under a tree.
You only brought a small backpack w/ water, snacks, and a small medical kit.
You fix his arm. He goes much quieter.Â
âThank you.â He says, real softly.
After putting away the medical kit, you fall asleep on him.
He feels your head on his shoulder and turns his head towards you.
âWhat the hell, extra- oh.â
He picks you up and starts walking.
~~~
Itâs 4 in the morning when you wake up.
âFinally, stupid. We gotta go now.âÂ
You two walk back to his dorm.
He lays you on his bed, then lays beside you.
You both fall asleep to the sun rising.
~~~
âShould we go in?â
âIf thereâs any evidence of where my sibling is, I want to see it.â
The door opens wildly.
Several eyes roam the room before landing on the people on the bed.
âTheyâre here?â
Izuku runs into the room.
âWhy are you here? Howâd you get here? Did the LOV do anything to you? Are you hurt? Why is Baku-âÂ
You smack Izuku and hug Bakugou closer.Â
He opens an eye open and says
âWeâll talk to you dumbasses later.â
Then falls back asleep. Soon, you do too.Â
âAwwâ Kirishima whispers.
Izuku smiles a little.
âAs long as he doesnât hurt her again, i guess iâll be happy for themâ
-timeskip to many years later-
âCmon, dad! Weâre having a playdate with Uncle Midoryaâs kid!â
âIâm coming, Iâm coming.â
Youâve gotten married 20 years later and adopted a kid. Youâre happy, with your little family.
The End.
(that ending was really rushed sorry bout that)
Second Place (Joy x Fem!Reader)
Genre: Enemies to lovers, fluff
Summary: As a passionate swimmer, everything was going amazing for you until she came into your life. Since then things havenât been the same and you canât help but to feel frustrated and defeated. What will happen to this unresolved tension?
Word Count: 1.8k
A/N: My first proper post, I truly hope you like it. I tried hard to make it a believable enemies to lovers dynamic and for it to be high quality. My draft ended up being 4 pages on google docs on size 11 tnr font haha. Please get back to me with any feedback you can and I apologize if there are any grammatical issues. Dedicated to my friend Kat :)
Date: 6/25/2020
You ready yourself at the edge of the pool as you turn to look at her. Your face began to heat with anger and your chest was pounding. How could she be so perfect? She was seemingly always a step ahead of you. It felt like she took everything away from you. She took your friends, your teammates, she swam like a goddess, all while being so gorgeous and...Â
Oh god? What were you thinking? You shook your head and turned away to focus on the water gently swaying in front of you. You steady your breathing and dive into the water. The familiar and welcoming cool feeling enveloped your body. It was usually in the water that you felt at peace, yet this time the only thing you could think about was her. Your only thoughts were about your recent built-up frustration. Sooner than you expected, you felt the wall of the pool and lifted yourself up. Your breathing was heavy as you looked at your coach with a stopwatch in her hand. âGood work Y/N! You managed to shave off a couple seconds on your PR. Keep working hard and you might beat Joy over there!â, you only managed to chuckle a bit in response.
That seriously pissed you off.
Ever since that girl transferred, youâve been in second place. Knocked off the pedestal youâve kept for so long. When you used to be the best on the team, she stomped on you. All of a sudden nearly all your âfriendsâ paid no mind to you. Instead favoring to focus on the new girl, whoâs infectious smile garnered her the nickname Joy.
What hurt the most is that you understood why people were dying for her attention. While you excelled in your studies and sports, she somehow did even better. The very little free-time Sooyoung seemed to have was fought over by everyone.
Ever since then, you silently declared her as your rival.
You make your way towards the locker room when you feel a smack on your shoulder. Sooyoung passes by and you see her annoying little smile as she says, âMaybe youâll beat me next timeâ.
Since the moment she walked into your life it felt like she had her eyes on you, that she was out to get you. You try to shake off your anger and continue making your way. Inside, you hear the murmurs and giggles of some of the girls joking around, as well as the praises your teammates would give Sooyoung. You ignore it and mind your own business. As practice is wrapping up and everyone says their goodbyes, your coach pulls you and Sooyoung aside.Â
âNow girls, Iâm sure itâs quite obvious that the both of you are the top swimmers we have on this team,â your coach begins to quietly speak to the both of you. âThe other girls on the team have made their opinions of you quite clear. When the season officially starts I need you guys to help unify the team and do even better than last year,â you start grinning. You already knew where this conversation was going, having heard iterations of the same speech before. You were glad to know that your coach still viewed you highly.
âSooyoung, the team needs you to be their captain. Y/N, you need to work to help co-captain this team into victory.â
Your smile seemed to slowly fade.
âAh, thank you so much! Iâm so honored to be in this position. You know Iâll do my best for the team.â, Sooyoung said with her iconic smile, bowing to show her appreciation. You try not to show the disappointment on your face. You thought that even though Sooyoung was a better swimmer than you, youâd still the get the position of captain. After all, youâre the one whoâs been on the team longest, whoâs worked with your teammates for longer than Sooyoung has. Even though in a sense the position of co-captain was the same, you couldnât help but to feel upset with the #2 label being stuck on you. All you could do was put on a small smile as you say in a meek voice, âThank you coach. I accept this responsibility and will work hard.â
Your coach smiled at the both of you and patted your backs. âIâm so incredibily proud of what youâve both accomplished. Now, Iâm asking that the both of you try to be friendlier with each other. I see the kinds of looks you give. Just lighten up, okay? We need strong pillars for the team this year. Maybe try practicing with each other more and learn from each other.â
Coach sends the both of you out as she getâs caught up doing her own work. You quietly walk out of the building and to the parking lot together. Even though you were walking next to a person you felt like you despised, you couldnât help but also feel amazed. Sooyoung was certainly one of the most hardworking and talented people youâve ever met. You snap out of those thoughts though when all of a sudden you hear her voice.
âHey, about what coach said... â
âYeah?â
âLetâs swim together. For practice, I guess. Coach would like that.â
You weigh the matter in your head for a few seconds. Keep your friends close but your enemies closer, they say. Perhaps this was a wonderful opportunity being presented right in front of you. If you two swam together you would get to observe her technique. Maybe you could impress or intimidate her. Really, you wanted to keep tabs on her, and if sheâs by your side all the time, if sheâs the one youâre competing against day by day... what else would be a better motivator to improve? You sigh before talking.
âSure.â
â
Weeks pass by and you spend nearly everyday with Sooyoung. Although you originally thought that it would be a good idea, it ended up being hell on Earth. When you thought that you could motivate yourself, which was true to some extent, you ended up being more frustrated. Every time you practiced together Sooyoung couldnât help but to make snide remarks.
âSlipping up? Ah geez, and I thought you were finally beginning to improve.â
âGod, Youâre like a fish out of water. Flapping your arms like that.â
âHowâd you even make it this far?â
Every time she made one of her comments you would ball up your firsts and count to ten. What made it worse was that you felt horrible seeing her improve so much. It made you feel like you could never catch up.
One night when practicing late together your feelings had boiled over. Both of you were in the locker room and had just finished changing clothes. You look at her as she has that stupid smirk on her face and she begins opening her mouth. Before you could spew another hurtful comment you slam your fist next to her, a loud banging noise erupting as your hand came in contact with the metal of the locker. Youâre face to face with her as your eyes begin to water.
âGod! Why are you so insufferable? Youâre everything I want, you know. You have absolutely everything and you have the audacity to rub it in my face. Do you know how much that hurts? Ever since you transferred here my life has been so different. You make me feel so isolated and useless, how can I ever catch up to someone like you? Tell me, how? Are you happy now?â
You knew your face was reed as wet tears streamed down your face.Â
âAre you...? Now can you stop... stop saying such hurtful things to me. Please.âÂ
Your voice cracked during your last few sentences.
You feel like a fool as you stand there, looking at Sooyoungâs lost face. You turn around and head for the exit. âForget it.â you say. Before you make it far you feel a soft tug on your hand and you turn back around.
Sooyoung gives you the biggest puppy dog eyes youâve ever seen. As much as you hate her your heart broke when you saw the pain on what was usually a radiant and happy face. Her mouth opens up a little bit.
âIâm sorry.â
âIs that all?â you ask and begin turning around again. Once again you feel that soft tug. You felt grateful for it, because as soon as you dismissed her apology like that your heart broke again. You face her another time and let her speak.
âThat was out of hand. Iâm so sorry. Iâve been so rude to you... I shouldâve known better. Look, Y/N, why do you think I transferred here in the first place?â
âI-I donât know... I mean weâre known for our academics I guess.â you felt dumbfounded and startled from the strange question.
âThereâs that, but thereâs also you.â
âWhat?â
âYeah, you.â Sooyoung gives a soft smile to you. âI guess you never noticed me since we did different events at the time, but I saw you and noticed you before I ever came here. Iâve always loved swimming, but when I got to see you swim, you were on a completely different level. I saw a passion I never saw or felt before. You inspired me a lot, Y/N. To be a better person, to be a better swimmer. I saw that charming smile on your face, I saw your affect on your teammates, and I wanted to be like you.â
You stand there as the tears going down your face were appearing for a different reason. Sooyoung takes a step closer to you.
âI trained so hard. Hours and hours of swimming daily, every part of me being sore. I wanted to be here with you because I thought if I was right next to a star, Iâd shine brightly too. I just wanted your attention so bad I didnât think hard enough about how all my actions would affect you, and thatâs my shortcoming.â
âSooyoung, I-â
âWhat Iâm trying to say is Iâve admired you for a long time.â
You donât know how to feel. You couldnât tell if the warm budding feeling in your chest was from surprise or something else. How could she of all people admire you? The perfect Sooyoung who brings joy to all of those around her. How could she ever view someone like you so highly? Every ounce of anger you had felt since she arrived began to melt away.
You hug her tightly and feel her arms warp around your waist in a way that fit perfectly. You softly whisper into her ear.
âI think I admire you too.â
Suddenly she pulls away from the hug and before you could react she placed a chaste kiss on your lips.
âI can give you one for every mean thing Iâve said.â
The small moments they spend as the sun sets at the house party, as they talked about life, tv-shows, good memories, cringey moments and life is one of the best moments for her. The moments followed, was a series of smiles caught in-between shifts, as their hands brushed on the nurses counter, or the introduction of 50s movies that made her smile, including a monologue of Danny reciting the lines of a damsel in distress that made her heart leapt in joy.
She had Wayne, but the feeling with him cant be compared as he made her feel unimportant, as if there is a barrier in between that keeps on stopping her from seeing the light. Danny Cardinal is a different one, a new presence that somehow she didnât know she needed. Someone who sees her more than Wayne ever does, someone who appreciates her talents along with their quirky interests that made them compatible one way or another.
She never told her roommates, the day they went out to Donahue together, a moment of silence as Sienna finally had the courage to invite him for a drink, after her break-up with Wayne. She wasnât ready to move on yet, butâŠshe felt like she needed a friend. Someone to talk too, someone who she could relate in a way, and thatâs where Danny Cardinal made his entrance.
âI just break up with my long-time boyfriend..â It suddenly slips out of her tongue, somehow she was wallowing it after their confrontation with Casey earlier.
He wasnât ready. He didnât expect that news would drop as they just finished work.
âOH-, are you okay? Do you need anything, we could go back if you want!â His voice filled with caution, as he tries to comfort her in the most awkward way he could think of at the moment.
Sienna smiles at his reaction, it was a mixture of cute and adorable which she is aware that it is similar. A laugh stifle out of her, as Danny smiles too. Mirroring her expression, he found himself being very careful as he slips his fingers into her, giving her a squeeze, equivalent to the saying, âeverything is going to be alright.â
She felt happy, a different kind of happiness. That night was the start of it all, a small gesture that is worth more than a thousand words. It was called, something new. She recalls the small gesture, when she is down, or mad, or even sad, as a way to assure herself that she is going to be alright.
Until that unfortunate day, the fear in her started to show as seeing her best friend, and him there in the room somehow being sacrificed for an evil plan. She recalls their small talks the night before, as he was seen bringing her a cup of coffee after the long day they both had, their small talks is something normal in other peopleâs eyes, as it is an escape for them into the world.
âA cup of brownie chocolate drink for one Sienna Trinh?â His voice in a sing-song as he passed the cup to her.
ââŠAnd, a cup of Hazelnut Latte for Danny Cardinal courtesy of Casey, and her access to Dr. Ramseyâs coffee machine.â She whispered the last part of the sentence making him laugh as his voice boomed through the empty hospital hallways.
âFree coffee too, count me in?â Danny said happily taking a sip of his drink, as Sienna does the same.
âHow was your day?â She asked, as they walked through the hallways; one of the reasons she manages to keep herself sane after all the insanity from her day as a second-year resident.
âIt wasâŠâ He went silence, as he took another sip before continuing.
âThe Senatorâs case. It was odd, and weird. I know I shouldnât questioned anything, but he gave me some bad vibes, including his assistant Travis, they both kinda gave me a weird vibe. I felt like Travis was lurking his way down the halls, somehow searching for something⊠and it creeps me out.â A shiver escaped him, as they arrived at the quiet cafeteria.
âI heard about him, he is the one who came from Mass Kenmore right?â Sienna asked, recalling the info Casey told her about her heist with Baz at MK.
He nod, taking another sip.
âHow was yours?â
She lets out a sigh, followed by a groan.
âI am guessing, it was bad..?â His voice slowly, as Sienna nods in return.
âIt wasnât horrible, butâŠit felt tiring. I just feel like I have to do everything and Mitch isnât helping one bit, and there is this kid, he is suffering with all these decisions and... ugh!â She lets out a groan of frustration once more, earning an âIâm sorryâ look on Dannyâs face.
She tried to plastered a smile on her face, an attempt to make herself look stronger. But, somehow she felt like she canât fake it, a part of her wanted to fake a smile, and just brushed the topic off.
âYou know you donât have to be strong in front of me Sienna, itâs okay to be sad once in a whileâŠâ Danny stated with a slow tone, a comforting one.
âDoctors were supposed to be strong, its our job to be strong for our patientsâŠâ
âAnd yet, we are humans Sienna. We can cry, smile, laugh and get ourselves angry because we are human. Those feelings are valid, and it means you are you. There is honestly nothing wrong with that okay?â Danny moved to the opposite side of the table, taking a seat beside her. In a split second, she founds herself leaning onto the comfort of his hugs. The universal language that will never gets old, kisses are great and all, but⊠hugs are even better. He place his arms around her shoulder, as the cold environment around them was a hazy memory.
âYou know you give good hugs donât you Danny?â Sienna said in between the hugs, as their drinks started to cool off.
âHey, its apart of who I am! Donât tell Bryce, he once told me that he was the best hugger in Edenbrook.â A laugh stifled out of her once more, her troubles were behind.
âDonât worry, besides Casey; you are definitely a close second.â She winks at him, as they enjoyed their presumably final moments together.
It was almost dawn, as both of their pagers were paged at the same time. Both of them rushed, at the same time trying to keep in moment as they enjoyed their small company together without any interruptions from the real world.
A few minutes after, they arrived at their pin-point where they would have to say âgoodbyeâ. In that moment, without hesitation; a gut feeling inside told her; hug him. It can somehow be your last time seeing his face.
He looks at her in disbelief at first, but who ever declines a hug? He hugs her back, the feeling of comfort that somehow the key of keeping both of them sane is one ways or another. A gesture that she would love to get used to, hugging Danny. Maybe more than the other. After a while, they pulled away. A small smile linger on her face, as she left the nursing station; a contained feeling in her heart. She turns her head back, meeting his eyes once more. He waves from afar, as she waves back as they resume their lives.
And, that morning was the last time she saw his face. The last time she would feel his touch, the final cup of coffee together, and⊠their final hug. As Danny was one of the victims of Travisâs plan on murdering the Senator.
The sadness from before suddenly felt in her once again, without the comfort of his hugs and words. She felt herself wanting to break down, as the news escaped the lips of Dr. Ramsey.
Sienna tried to stay strong, as she stood behind the glass. With a full of pain in her heart, meeting Caseyâs emeraldâs which is fill with sympathy. She mouthed, âIâm so sorryâ. As the tears threatened to fall from her eyes, Jackie scoot towards her way and bring her into the groupâs embrace.
âDonât you dare die. No comaâs either. JustâŠhold the line, hear me?â Her voice booms through the glass, as tear started to fall.
As all of them were ushered away, working on the treatment. Sienna looked back, as she saw Bryce walking into the room with a hazmat suit on him, a small smile on her face; knowing Casey wont be alone for the time being. She glanced back once more, before moving forward with the rest of the team.
------------------------
The same smile appeared once more, after Casey was saved. She couldnât lose another one of the people she cared about, and⊠she engulfed her with a bear hug, the lost and comfort from the day before started to catch up to her. The day she lost Danny, and the day her best friend is save. Two different events that change her life in a way.
Funerals were meant to celebrate the life that was lived, staring at the black theme-d attire in her room, she wasnât ready to face it. She wasnât ready to face the day, where she would see him for the final time. The final time, where she could picture the smile on his face, as the memories from the past days would play in her mind again and again; as a way to comfort her sorrows.
She glanced at her room, somehow looking at it for the first time. Her eyes gaze upon the lines of furniture, and it stops at the wall of pictures. Somehow, all of the good memories from her intern year was on that wall, reminding her the good times of it all. Her eyes stop at one, she remembered it all too well.
A photo, both herself and Danny were sleeping on the couch after the party, that her friends took. She was mad at first, but⊠she realizes that was one of the earliest memories of herself and Danny, and she was grateful for it.
She didnât join in the others, as a way to cope herself with all of it. She took the long way down, a way to be with her own thoughts, as after a while; the cemetery was in view. The number of nurses, workers, families, and many more had came by to express their thoughts. A way of remembering the ones that has gone, she glances at the crowd as she stood beside Dr. Ramsey who is somehow standing in the back of it all.
It was silence between them, as she glance upon the familiarity of the voice. It was Caseyâs as she takes the lead, a smile upon her face from the stories that she managed to recalled from both Dannyâs and Bobbyâs time at Edenbrook, they were heroes. They will never be forgotten, somehow; it was one of the things that made saying goodbye very hard.
--------------------------
Afterwards, she founds herself linger behind. The skies are dark, upon the lost of two souls. Taking a small Laelia Orchid in her hand, making her way to both of them. Her tears stained cheek are visible, through the darkness of the sky. She places the flower in both of their caskets, a final goodbye.
The walk back to the hospital was accompanied by memories, smiles, laughter and even the warmth of his comfort accompanying her way back. She smiled despite it all, knowing that Danny is always going to be there, a comfort for her; as she took a sip of his favorite drink or, the moment where she stumbled at one of the movies from their trip to the Common. A reminder that he is always going to be apart of her, helping her through this life. As a human being, a doctor, a friend⊠and maybe in another lifetime; something even bigger than before.
She knows that she will see him again, very very soon.Â
THE END.
Drabble #1: Sprace
------
"This was a terrible idea... such a terrible idea," Race mumbled as he held onto the only thing he could - the cigarette that was dangling from his mouth.
"Don't be so whiny, you could've just chosen to answer the question." Jack reminded him. Race hated that he was right.
He'd already known that the evening was going to end horribly when he arrived at Jack's party but he hadn't expected to end up playing Truth or Dare. Which led to his current situation. In the middle of a plank, starting on the windowsill of Jack's living room, ending on the windowsill of Davey's, right in the opposite building. Twenty feet above the ground. Drunk. While the other boys were cheering him on.
But he couldn't answer Jack's question. He didn't know if Spot wanted the other boys to know about their relationship yet. And Spot wasn't there. He was working on a group presentation and didn't know if he could make it.
"No, no, no, no, Jackie-boy. It's alright." To demonstrate his point, he did a jump on the plank, then another. "I'm already halfway there, so what's the worst that could -" Race didn't get to finish his sentence. Right in the middle of it, he suddenly slipped and found himself falling. An embarrassing squeal left his lips as he let go of the cigarette and mentally prepared himself for the impact.
But instead of breaking his neck on the asphalt, he landed in the arms of a person. A small person who was visibly startled by the fact that he just caught his boyfriend from the air.
Race's chest was heaving and his hands were shaking as he looked at Spot. Totally forgetting the situation he was in, he let a wide smile spread over his face. "Spottie, you're here!" He yelled, not being able to control his volume level due to the alcohol that still inhabited his body. Still smiling, he leaned in to 'whisper' in Spot's ear: "I guess you could say that I am - once again - falling for you. You know, because I just fell, Spottie." He laughed like a little child that was getting a new toy.
Spot didn't laugh. He had now realised what had just happened and looked uncomprehendingly at the boy in his arms. "Racetrack Higgins, you are the most insufferable boy I've ever met." Contrary to his words, he only held tighter onto Race.
"But Spottie. We played Truth or Dare and I just wanted to fulfill Jack's dare because I couldn't answer his question. He said I had to find a way to get from his to Davey's apartment without leaving the house. He shouldn't feel like he's won." Race tried to explain.
"Which question?"
"The Cowboy asked if we are a couple. And I mean, I know that we are but I didn't know if you wanted -"
Once again, Race was interrupted. This time by Spot. "I'm going to kill him." With a determined look on his face, he helped his boyfriend - who was quite confused by this statement - stand on his own feet.
"Not that I'm gonna keep you from doing that but may I ask why?" Race asked.
"That smug bastard knows exactly that we are a couple because I told him the last time I was drunk. He just wanted you to admit it, too. And then the fricking idiot let you nearly kill yourself, for his own amusement."
"That little... I'm sorry, but I can't be mad at him because you're totally adorable when you get all protective." Race couldn't resist the urge to pinch his boyfriend's cheek.
Spot snorted and shoved his shoulder. "I am not adorable! I'm just trying to be a good boyfriend. So, what do you say? Ready to kick Jack's ass?"
Race couldn't really remember what happened the rest of the night because right then, the alcohol really kicked in. He only remembered fondly what Spot said to him, right before he was asleep in his bed.
"And Race? I hate to admit it because this whole incident could have ended with you being in the hospital but... I think it's kinda cute that you literally fell for me."
Also, I'd like to know if it was okay or ooc or whatever - it was fun to write, so I might try more drabbles. And I hope that you enjoyed it at least a little bit.
Another Life
Authorâs Note: This follows the plot of Bloodbound almost exactly, but I changed things up a little bit and it includes a lot of time jumps. Also, this is a Gaius x MC fanfic which is controversial, I KNOW, but my goofy ass couldnât help it. Sorry in advance if thereâs any spelling or grammatical errors throughout, Iâm too lazy to proofread right now.
Word Count: 3,430
_____
Something about the way the ancient vampire looked solemnly out to the water intrigued Natalia. She should hate Gaius Augustine. He had killed her. Every single action heâd taken from the time she met him just proved how terrible he was.
Natalia looked away when Jax placed a hand on her lower back. She turned to face him, tilting her head back to meet his eyes as he leaned down to kiss her. He brushed some of her hair behind her ear, holding her face in his hands, each movement impossibly gentle.
âNight,â Jax mumbled against her lips before he pulled away, following behind Adrian, Kamilah, and Lily to the cabins below.
Once her four friends were gone, Natalia looked back at Gaius.
For so long, she had dreamed of killing him. She thought she had killed him. It was supposed to be her one last act of heroism before succumbing to the fatal wound heâd given her. Because of Gaius, Jax had been forced to break his vow never to Turn anyone. Because of Gaius, all of her friends had been forced to watch her die, to believe that they would never see her again after the events in New York.
âWhy are you still here?â Although he still looked young, every word seemed to hold thousands of years of life behind it. Natalia had noticed the same tone in Kamilahâs voice. Both her and Gaius were ancient, and their voices and mannerisms betrayed their true age.
Natalia hesitated before taking a step closer. âYou looked sad.â She took a deep breath and closed the distance between them, coming to stand at his side as they both peered out over the water. âAre you ready for what comes next?â
Gaius chuckled under his breath, still refusing to look at her. âHardly. But we must stop her.â Finally, he spared a glance in her direction. âYou still did not answer my question. Why are you still here?â
âI told you. You looked sad. I thought you might want someone to talk to.â
Surprise flashed across his face, and he turned to face her. âYou, of all people, should not feel any pity for me. Iâve caused so much pain, killed so many people, caused irreversible damage. I killed you, Natalia.â
Her lips twitched as she fought back a smile. âBelieve it or not, I donât hold that against you anymore.â What was wrong with her? Did she really have some feelings for the man who not only murdered her, but the father figure of the man she loved? If Jax ever found out about this, he wouldnât be happy.
âI do not understand you.â Gaius studied her face, his gaze flickering to her lips. He looked her in the eyes again, shaking his head. âYou should go get some sleep.â
Instead of walking away, Natalia took a step closer. Every logical part of her screamed that this was wrong, and yet the deeper, primal part of her felt like this was right. So, so right.
âNataliaââ Before she took the time to consider the severe consequences of her actions, she leaned forward and cut off the rest of his words with her lips. For a moment, one irresistible moment, Gaius kissed her back.
As she moved to wrap her arms around his neck, something seemed to snap him out of the desire, and he jerked back, looking at her with wide eyes. Chewing on her bottom lip, Natalia stepped back, casting her eyes down to the ground.
âIâm sorry, I donât know what I was thinking. Weââ
Gaius moved so fast she barely had time to take a breath before his lips were back on hers, the urgency in his movements every bit as desperate as her own. They stumbled backwards, making their way to her room below, both of them knowing they were making a lot of noise but not caring.
âWhatâs going on out there?â Kamilahâs voice carried through her shut door, and panic flared through Natalia at the thought of one of her friends, or even worse, Jax, catching her with Gaius.
âNothing!â she called out, hurrying to open her door. Her heart pounded far faster than she thought possible for someone who was undead. âI tripped!â
To her surprise, Gaius looked at her and grinned, amusement shining in his eyes at her answer. The two of them burst into the room, him pressing her against the door, allowing it to slam shut from the force. Kamilah didnât say another word. It seemed like the others were minding their own business as well.
âThis is wrong,â he mumbled, though he continued to kiss her. âWe should not be doing this.â
âShut up.â Natalia could already feel the guilt creeping in, but she had a sense of dread deep in the pit of her stomach for tomorrow. If they were all going to die, there was no point in her hiding her wants. And right now, she wanted Gaius.
Memories of the day she had died flashed in her head, and her movements grew rougher. Hate and lust warred inside her, and she had no idea why she couldnât bring herself to stop.
Eventually, the urgency slowed, and the rational part of her finally won. Natalia and Gaius continued to kiss, but she pulled away as he started to fumble for her clothes.
âWe canât.â A face burned in her mind, and the guilt washed over her like a tidal wave.
Jax.
Understanding shone in his eyes. âI know,â Gaius said, sighing as he started to stand from the bed.
Natalia put a hand on his wrist, and he paused, turning around to face her again. âIâm sorry,â she whispered.
Both of them knew she was not talking about this, but about what Rheya had done to him. He may have done horrible, unforgivable things, but he was not the only one. Everything she thought she knew about the man standing before her was no longer as black and white as she had once thought it was.
Gaius looked down at her, sighing again before he took a seat on the bed beside her. He brushed her hair out of her face, studying her face again. âIf weâd met in another lifeâŠI think things could have been different.â
âYeah. In another life.â Her eyes fluttered shut when he kissed her again, much gentler than before.
The two of them seemed to communicate without words, both of them lingering for a moment before Gaius stood and left the room without a sound. Natalia fell back on the bed and stared up at the ceiling, wondering what she was going to do now.
A part of her felt guilty for what she had just done, and yet a larger part of her wanted more. Every horrible deed that man had done should make her hate him, she should want him dead, but she knew that if the moment came, and if they had to decided whether he lived or died, she wouldnât be able to bring herself to sentence Gaius to death.
The love she felt for Jax battled with the undeniable attraction she had for Gaius.
With a frustrated groan, she rolled onto her side, watching the door for the rest of the night. And, try as she may, she couldnât deny the disappointment that washed over her when he did not return to her room.
                        --------------------
 The tomb had long been empty, and Natalia stood alone, looking down at the Katana. It was all she had left of Jax. Tears burned in her eyes as she sunk to her knees and hid her face in her hands, her sobs echoing in the still air.
A hand brushed her shoulders, and she shot up, reaching for the Katana.
Gaius grabbed her wrists and held them down, forcing her to look him in the eyes. âItâs me.â
âWhy are you here? I thought you left.â Her grief slammed into her with so much force she fell back, breathless. âYou shouldnât be here.â
There was more sorrow on his face than sheâd ever seen before. âIâm sorry for your loss.â
Natalia shook her head, as if she could make it all go away if she willed it into being. âDonât.â
Jaxâs death had almost made her destroy the world. Sheâd already drained the life from some of the people in the opera house before Gaius stepped in to pull her back from the point of no return. It had been him who saved her from becoming a monster much worse than Rheya.
âYou are allowed to grieve.â His voice sounded louder in the silent tomb. âYou loved him.â
âYeah. I did.â She turned around to look at the Katana again, closing her eyes when she felt Gaius stand right behind her.
Silence settled between the two of them, their unspoken understanding still there. She realized they got each other a lot more than she had ever known.
âI will wait for you, Natalia,â Gaius whispered, his breath warm against her neck. âMy old life ended with Rheya. Weâre living another life now.â
The implication in his words stirred something deep inside her, taking her breath away. Before she could answer, she felt Gaius leave.
Once again alone, Natalia sunk back down to her knees, knowing that she would rip the entire world apart to bring Jax back, but wondering if perhaps she could feel this way for someone else eventually.
Only time would tell.
Fifty Years Later
Snow blanketed the entire town, the sun long set. Natalia sighed as she walked down the bright streets, glancing up at the giant screen advertising the big Christmas movie releases. She shook her head and looked straight ahead.
Most people were inside now, the late hours of the night not as lively in New York as they once had been fifty years ago. As strange as it was, the world seemed to have changed so much, and yet so little in half a century.
A darkened building loomed in the distance, the words on the front sending another sharp pain through her. Jax Matsuo Youth Center. Natalia hurried past it, pulling her jacket tighter about her as she shivered against the early December cold.
She was nearly back at her apartment when she felt someone watching her. Taking a deep breath, she stepped into the shadows and focused on slowing her heartbeat, just like Kamilah had taught her all those years ago.
âI can still smell you.â Shivers ran down her spine at the sound of a voice that she had not heard in twenty years. âBut itâs good to see you remember some things.â
Natalia stepped back into the light, trying her best to force a smile. âIâm not a complete idiot, you know.â
Several seconds later, Gaius finally emerged from the darkness and stood opposite her. He no longer wore the ridiculously outdated outfit he had when they first met, but he still looked decades behind the times. âI never thought you were an idiot.â
âWhat are you doing here?â The last time she had seen him, things had not ended well. Neither of them had spoken to the other in twenty years. âThe last I heard about you, you were somewhere in Europe.â
âThere was something waiting for me back here. In New York.â He studied her face, and try as she may, she could not look away.
Natalia thought about the youth center again, her heart aching worse than before. Instead of answering Gaius, she turned away, taking a few steps before she paused. âWell, are you coming?â Her voice echoed off the high walls of the surrounding buildings, her head titled slightly back as she addressed him.
As the two of them walked in silence, she thought about the events leading up to Rheyaâs death. Jax had died never knowing what happened on that boat, never realizing that the woman he loved had feelings for the man who was supposed to die after they won. And in return for that guilt, she had spent the past fifty years alone, trying to let her heart heal while she tried to accept the fact that for a brief moment, she had possessed enough to power to bring him back. If only she had had just a little more power.
If she could go back to the opera house, to when she absorbed Rheyaâs power, would she still choose to come back to her friends?
She did not know.
Gaius reached out to touch the top of her hand. His fingertips brushed over her knuckles, drawing her from the memories. Natalia glanced back up, looking into the eyes of the man who she had once hated, and then teamed up with out of necessity, and that she now still had feelings for. She knew her feelings for Gaius had been what drove a wedge between her friendships with Adrian and Kamilah. The two of them thought she was crazy for forgiving him. And maybe they were right, maybe she had gone absolutely insane long before Jaxâs death, but the person who had crawled out of that coffin all those years ago was not the same person who had died trying to save New York.
The same unspoken connection theyâd shared before passed through them again. A frown tugged at Gaiusâs lips, and he stared down at Natalia for a moment. It seemed like the world came to a halt as she looked back, the realization that they truly had not communicated in two decades sinking in. That was almost as long as sheâd been a human.
She opened her mouth to speak, but no sound came out. There was an awkwardness to being in his presence, like running into an old friend where things ended bad, or seeing someone who had once meant a lot to you before the years and distance made the friendship dissolve.
âDo you remember that night on the boat?â
The question seemed so absurd that Natalia couldnât help but laugh out loud. âYes. What about it?â They had finally reached her apartment, and she hesitated, looking up at the fourth floor, where the lights were off in her room. Lily was gone for the next two weeks on a trip to Japan.
âWhy did you kiss me?â Gaius stopped her when she tried to turn away. âNone of what happened that night makes any sense.â
âI canât answer that question.â The truth was she really didnât know why she had. Every part of her knew better, even now, fifty years later, she knew that he had done horrible things. But she had long given up on trying to understand how feelings worked. To this day, she still felt something stir deep inside her chest when she thought of him. It went against all common sense.
Natalia did not speak again until they were inside her apartment, taking nearly five minutes to convince Gaius that he could come up with her. Once they stood across from each other in the kitchen, she took a while to compose her thoughts.
âI guess,â she said, casting her eyes down to the floor, unable to look at his face, âI realized that Rheya turned you into the worst version of yourself. That might have been you, but she took away your ability to feel empathy. She convinced you she loved you just to get you to do whatever she wanted. And I could see that you were trying to be a better person. The others might never forgive you, and maybe theyâre right since they knew you a lot longer than I have, but I want to believe youâve changed. I want to believe that Jaxâs death was for a greater purpose.â
Tears welled in her eyes when she talked about Jax. She knew that heâd sacrificed himself for you because she was the one who could stop Rheya, but a large part of her had wished at the time that it had been her who died that day.
âHis death was my fault.â The Gaius who stood before her was worlds away from the withered Gaius she had first met. He looked into her eyes, noticing that she was staring at him. âThe man you love is gone because I wasnât good enough to stop Rheya. I regret many things, and what happened in that opera house is one of my biggest regrets.â
Natalia took a step closer, blinking away the tears as she looked up at him, taking a shaky breath. âThe man I loved. Fifty years changes a lot of things.â A part of her would always love Jax, would always mourn for him, but her heart had healed a bit more with every passing year until Lily no longer had to force her to continue to live.
Once, she had considered taking a stake to her own heart after losing Jax. She had spent every day and night wondering how she could ever survive in a world where he was no longer there. But time heals all wounds, and though the scars would always remain, the pain had never felt worse, and perhaps that was the best she could hope for.
Love may be a strong word to describe her feelings for the man who stood before her now, but she knew that whatever attraction sheâd felt on that boat so long ago had never gone away. In fact, the opposite had happened.
Natalia took a shaky breath, moving closer until her face was inches away from Gaiusâs. With another shaky exhale, she kissed him.
                        --------------------
The apartment was quiet save for their heavy breathing. Natalia lifted her head to look Gaius in the eyes again, unable to stop a grin from spreading across her face.
âWhatâs so funny?â Gaius mumbled, pushing some hair out of her face.
She shook her head, the grin turning into laughter as she placed a hand on his bare chest. âIâve lost my mind. I literally just slept with the enemy.â
He glared at her, rolling his eyes as a scoff slipped past his lips. âFifty years, and youâre still as childish as ever.â
âGive it a thousand years. Iâm sure someday Iâll be just as cynical as you.â She smiled and leaned in to kiss him again, feeling truly happy for the first time in what felt like forever. âSoâŠwhat happens now?â
âThat decision is up to you.â Gaius pulled her closer, sighing when he looked down at her. âI came back for you. If the others knew I was here, they would probably kill me.â
Natalia considered his words, remembering another moment when the choice had ultimately been left up to her. âI want you to decide. Iâm tired of always having to choose. What do you want?â
Silence settled over the room. The amount of time it took for Gaius to answer her felt like hours. Finally, he spoke, staring at the poster across the room that Lily had hung up months earlier. âCome with me.â
âOkay.â She knew it was insane, that Lily would be pissed when she came back to an abandoned apartment, but she was tired of living every single day with no purpose. New York did nothing but remind her of a long-lost love, and she was ready to feel something other than pain. It had been so long since she felt the way she did in this moment. âWhere are we going?â
Gaius looked surprised that she agreed so willingly. He grinned, holding her closer. âWell, I still have a lot of redeeming to do. Weâll figure something out.â
âWe.â Natalia laced her fingers with his and smiled. âI like the sound of that.â
The next night, they packed a bag for her, and Natalia left nothing but a note for Lily, explaining that it might be quite a few years before they crossed paths again. She felt bad for leaving, but she knew her best friend would be fine. Right now, in this moment, she needed to get away.
Fifty years earlier, on a boat sailing away from an island of death, Gaius Augustine had said that things could have been different between the two of them if theyâd met in another life. Both of their lives as they had known them changed the day Rheya Apostolous was defeated. Now, they were living another life. Now, they were both changed. Natalia would always remember moments of her past life, but she couldnât wait to see what her uncertain future held.
