someone’s prolly said this before but petra showing love and affection through competition. it’s her way of asking for attention, of saying “hey i love you and i want you to be by my side, pushing me to be better and go farther, and i want to do the same for you :)” even though she would NEVER say that out loud. instead of asking her friends to hang out, she’ll egg them on, saying that’s she’s stronger and tougher in order to get them to prove her wrong. it’s how she tries to show she cares.
when jesse goes with her after defeating romeo, she’s the happiest she’s ever been because it’s the most profound declaration of love that she’s ever received. for the first time, jesse is the one to start the race, to smile mischievously at her and provoke a reaction. to petra, it’s more than a race; it’s an invitation, it’s a declaration, it’s jesse saying “my place is by your side; i love you”

almost 2 weeks out from Sunrise on the Reaping, what are your thoughts on the book??
Thank you for the ask nonny!
I’ve currently got the SOTR tags blocked while I try to sort my feelings, but let’s just say I’m frustrated.
“Oh but Molly, you’re just upset because your headcanons were wrong”
I’m upset because the character we, the readers, (as well as Katniss and Peeta for that matter!) thought we understood and trusted was all an… act?… an outright lie?
There's only one way Haymitch could have won, and Peeta says it just as I'm reaching this conclusion myself.
"He outsmarted the others," says Peeta.
Oh my loves, but how wrong you are…
Sunrise on the Reaping Critical under the cut
Let’s talk about the 2nd Quarter Quell Recap from Catching Fire
Haymitch's name is called last of all. It's more of a shock to see him than my mother. Young. Strong. Hard to admit, but he was something of a looker. His hair dark and curly, those gray Seam eyes bright and, even then, dangerous.
Dangerous? I guess?
Also including this to remind y’all of what Haymitch looks like, since he doesn’t really bother to mention it. There’s a decent amount of discussion about the difference in Merchant class vs Seam, but suddenly we seem to be shying from discussing skin tones?…
Whatever, moving on
"So, Haymitch, what do you think of the Games having one hundred percent more competitors than usual?" asks Caesar.
Haymitch shrugs. "I don't see that it makes much difference. They'll still be one hundred percent as stupid as usual, so I figure my odds will be roughly the same."
The audience bursts out laughing and Haymitch gives them a half smile. Snarky. Arrogant. Indifferent.
"He didn't have to reach far for that, did he?" I say.
Snarky. Arrogant. Indifferent. and according to Sunrise Haymitch- completely an act! But… that’s what we see in the trilogy, so… is his personality through the first three books all an act as well? One that not even Peeta sees through?
24 years of drinking have made his curated interview persona his real personality… chalk it up to literary irony or something… I guess
But what she doesn't know, and what he does, is that the ax will return. And when it flies back over the ledge, it buries itself in her head.
Meanwhile
Perhaps that Capitol-loving, rule-abiding, snot-green-wearing Career will be afraid to follow me beyond the established boundaries of the arena.
…
My knees, already on the verge of giving way, fold like wet cardboard and I collapse to the dirt as the ax whistles over my head into the canyon.
That’s when I remember the force field. And what happens to dropped objects. I watch, breathless, for what the love of my life would call poetic justice.
No Katniss, he didn’t lead the District 1 girl back to the ledge to set a trap. He just thought she wouldn’t follow him past the hedges because… ???
Adrenaline, blood loss, whatever, whatever, whatever, but now all of the sudden he’s not outsmarted the games, they have outsmarted him.
Finally Peeta says, "That force field at the bottom of the cliff, it was like the one on the roof of the Training Center. The one that throws you back if you try to jump off and commit suicide. Haymitch found a way to turn it into a weapon."
lol - nope! We’ll call it a(n un)happy coincidence?
Trilogy Haymitch is perceptive and smart. He’s strategic and thinking several steps ahead… It least that’s what I thought… But where was that guy in SOTR? And how did he become those things while drowning himself in liquor for 2.5 decades?
"Not just against the other tributes, but the Capitol, too," I say. "You know they didn't expect that to happen. It wasn't meant to be part of the arena. They never planned on anyone using it as a weapon. It made them look stupid that he figured it out. I bet they had a good time trying to spin that one. Bet that's why I don't remember seeing it on television. It's almost as bad as us and the berries!"
Why exactly aren’t they showing reruns of that? Seems like Plutarch did a good job patching that up. If it wasn’t too rebellious to not show in the recap and wasn’t seditious enough to make a public example out of him (he wasn’t punished for that! That was freak house fire and appendicitis! If he didn’t have bad luck he wouldn’t have any at all.) Then why haven’t Katniss & Peeta watched recaps of his game, if only to torment Haymitch?
"Almost, but not quite," says Haymitch from behind us.
In what universe is Haymitch, with intent, nearly breaking the arena twice not as bad as the berries?!?! In what world is he still alive when the Gamemakers have sent mutts to target tributes after lesser offenses?!?!
I guess in the one where president Snow is more interested in keeping Haymitch alive long enough to watch his Covey girlfriend die…
And I understand, Haymitch’s likely not at liberty to explain all that on a Capitol train, but ffs if SOTR was the intention all along - give us a hint that that’s not the full story!! Even if Katniss doesn’t pick up on it, Peeta would have! And Katniss would have noticed Peeta reacting even if she didn’t know what it was about!
Side note: Now I’m laughing, because, were the Gamemakers pissed that the allies were cooking tree rat meat on the forcefield in the third QQ- Hey!! You’re not supposed to do that! That’s not it’s intended purpose! This is treason!!
I've spent all these weeks getting to know who my competitors are, without even thinking about who my teammates are. Now a new kind of confidence is lighting up inside of me, because I think I finally know who Haymitch is. And I'm beginning to know who I am. And surely, two people who have caused the Capitol so much trouble can think of a way to get Peeta home alive.
This is a big revelation for her!! (and the reader) and SOTR yanks the carpet out from underneath us.
Sorry Katniss - guess you were wrong 🤷♀️ how does that make you feel about yourself or your chances now? 🙃
Katniss and Haymitch’s understanding and trust of each other is so important and the implications of SOTR is that it was all based on lies… and how is that love?!
I don’t know guys, this book has left playing my own game of real and not real
~~~
Update:
I nod, then let the conversation drop. But secretly I'm wondering if Haymitch sobered up long enough to help Peeta and me because he thought we just might have the wits to sur-vive. Maybe he wasn't always a drunk. Maybe, in the beginning, he tried to help the tributes. But then it got unbearable. It must be hell to mentor two kids and then watch them die. Year after year after year. I realize that if I get out of here, that will become my job. To mentor the girl from District 12. The idea is so repellent, I thrust it from my mind.
This is also SO much more compelling (to me) and says more about his character than Haymitch’s immediate decent into drinking after Lenore Dove’s death.
~~~~
And to be fair, I will say, there is also a little bit of frustrations around HCs being wrong as well
My big example: I think Mr. Everdeen being Haymitch’s best friend doesn’t add any depth to Haymitch’s bond with Katniss it cheapens it - it said more about his character when he snapped out of his haze and stepped up for two random feral kids rather than him having his decision tied up in his old BFF’s daughter (especially after Burdock and Asterid were the last to stick around and Katniss spends a lot of time over three books talking about debts and owing), who he’s been paying attention to for years apparently?!? (And in all that time he never thought to buy a god damned squirrel (or cheese!) to help his old friend’s clearly struggling family?!? At this point Mr. Mellark is doing more for the Everdeens based on some 30 year old crush) Meanwhile - doesn’t all that mean that Haymitch never actually intended to help Peeta in the arena even before he wrote himself off?!?
Real or Not Real?

i’m so tired of the “psych ward patient” stereotypes. i’m so tired of the bloody costumes, the straightjackets, the unkempt hair that’s supposed to signify they’re “crazy”. i was in a (pediatric) psych ward. we were all just children. hurt and traumatized children. yes, sometimes we were unkempt and neglected ourselves. yes, sometimes we were violent towards ourselves or others. we were children. i’m so fucking over demonizing mentally ill people. i don’t care what your justification is, this shit hurts kids like me and the others in the hospital with me

Okay I’ve had this thought for a while now so I’m gonna post about it before I forget
So, in Non-Stop’s first chorus, Burr says “Why do you assume you’re the smartest in the room?” three times (whole chorus is eight lines)
Second verse he says “Why do you always say what you believe?” two times (whole chorus is six lines)
I’ve always pictured this as Burr slowly losing his patience with Hamilton in a way and making his own lines shorter(? If that makes sense?)
#sorry if this doesn’t make sense#idk how to describe this well#i also don’t count the ‘do what you do’ as part of the second chorus#hamilton#hamilton musical#hamilton the musical#non stop#aaron burr#hamilton shitpost

I have thoughts on the Ben dream after that last episode. MAJOR season 3 ep. 6 spoilers under the cut.
I still don’t think Ben was actually their bridge home. But rather that he was their last tether to humanity.
They make it very clear that Natalie doesn’t think that he’s the reason they’ll find rescue and she kills him prematurely. Then at the end of the episode they get discovered by hikers, seeing the team and Ben’s decapitated head on a table.
Killing Ben killed their ties to humanity, I mean they’re fully eating him with no rhyme or reason other than “it’s what the wilderness wants”
And people saw it, people who aren’t them. People who haven’t witnessed what they have witnessed or been through what they’ve been through.
Even if Ben never ended up becoming a cannibal he still had a sense of understanding to why. Even if the girls didn’t realize it. He judged them sure, but not as harshly as society would.
I think that this is just another way the wilderness is choosing to keep the team there. The vision gave the girls this hope of rescue, the hikers being that “opportunity”.
But rather than it simply being that if they didn’t kill Ben they could’ve gotten saved, I just think the hikers simply just would not have found them.
The wilderness is using the hikers as a way to show them just how unhinged they really are, like how Shauna was saying in her diary in ep 1 of this season.

This post contains spoilers for The great ace attorney 2‼️‼️🤯
Something I really like about Herlock Sholmes is his music. In Joint Reasoning, the time signature is in 7/8, which is famously the hardest and most annoying time signature to play in. In Herlocks deductions with Ryunosuke, he’s messing up, he’s getting things wrong, and overall not being very good at his job. The 7/8 time signature is a nod to how much he’s messing up in these deductions. However in Partners- the song that plays when Herlock is doing a deduction with Mikotoba- the time signature is in 4/4, the easiest time signature to play in. In his deduction with Mikotoba, he’s obviously much more comfortable and is staying on the side lines helping Mikotoba through the deduction and seemingly knows everything that is going on already. The 4/4 signature is showing that he’s finally able to get his shit together.
Another thing about Joint Reasoning is that while the strings are heavily included, the main instrument of Herlocks part is a viola. While in Partners, the main instrument of Herlocks part is a violin. If you remember back to Unspeakable Story, while Herlock is very good at playing the violin, the viola is a struggle for him. He’s struggling in the song where the viola is playing, but he’s doing just fine in the song the violin is playing.
A detective is nothing without his partner
God I love this game

this probably isn’t an original thought but I love the idea of there being a Metalocalypse actor au where MMA and all the other scary intimidating actors are actually super nice and there’s photos of them in like special FX makeup posing with the rest of the characters, also maybe the stunt doubles in Dethdoubles are their actual stunt doubles and they wanted to give them an episode? Also maybe Toki and Skwisgaars accents are fake

Spoilers for season 5 of tma
How am I supposed to move on with my life knowing that Jon was doomed from the beginning? The second touched that goddamned Lietner he was done for. And Elias knew this. That's why he made Jon head Archivist. That's why he put Jon through all that bullshit. And that's why he told Jon in his little ritual-statement that it was all just rotten luck because he couldn’t let Jon believe that he had any chance of saving the world.

I know your last post about Dadvell was a long time ago but I have an idea, Clavell adopted Arven when they were a child but hear me out what if there was a split timeline where Clavell adopted Arven after the events of Ai Sada..
Dont worry! I’m sorry I have kinda lost (not completely of course) the Dadvell au along the way but changing fandoms does that to a poor dumb mf (me) but I’m always happy to receive inboxes about this! So thank you TUMBLR for not showing me a notifications for the asks :D
Anyway
In my Dadvell au Clavell never actually formally adopted Arven. There were never any kind of papers involved, it was just him taking care of him while his parents weren’t there and Arven accepting his help and staying with him. I think I answered a question, months ago, about a possible scenario that takes place some times after the game events where Arven bring the adoption papers to Clavell to sign but it can be seen as both canon and canon in this au ahaha you decided
But, in a scenario like the one you mentioned, I don’t think Arven would accept the help… not like in the Dadvell au, at least.
He’s not a kid anymore, he got used to his life and he’s very independent and now that he has so many friends and Mabosstiff is back, he’s alright.
If Clavell would step in to help him he wouldn’t send him away, of course, but it wouldn’t be that kind of relationship, you know?
But I like to imagine them getting along very well after the game, becoming friends, Arven helping in the academy after he graduated, Clavell going out for picnics with Arven, Mabosstiff, Penny and the others.
They would have their emotional moments talking about Sada, toh. Sometimes memories come back and you can’t exactly stop them. In these cases, a good cup of tea or hot chocolate are there to help them

I think a lot of you people in the supernatural fandom are forgetting about headcanons. Look, is Dean implied to be bi? No. Is he bi in my eyes? Yes because I want him to be. It’s that simple. I know the hellers are are giving us a hard time with how much they’re still trying to prove that their ship had a chance but sometimes it’s allowed to be Dean is bi because that’s fun. To me that’s literally the same as imagining that Sam has a pair of wille coyote socks like I promise there are parts of supernatural that ARE that deep and Dean’s sexuality in relation to Sam is one of them but the straight vs queer Dean is not :,)

Yeah no, Pluto definitely did not die from suicide. At least, I don’t think so.
The world of Nevermore is very, very influenced by Edgar Allen Poe. For example, Prospero. In the original Edgar Allen Poe short story “The Masque of Red Death”, he was a prince, which could explain how prim and proper he acts in Nevermore, and he died from the Red Death, which at the beginning of the story is stated to be a plague. I wonder whose spectre is a plague doctor. Also, Fortunato, Duke’s stage name, was a character in the short story The Cask of Amontillado, who dies from being trapped in a wall. Sounds familiar? Anyways, my point is, a lot of names and deaths and details are inspired directly from Edgar Allen Poe.
Now, Pluto. Our beloved British catboy. Coincidentally, the name of a cat from my favorite Edgar Allen Poe story; The Black Cat.
The Black Cat is not one of the cuter stories of Edgar Allen Poe’s works. It starts with a man; he loves animals and finds a wife who loves animals too, and they both adopt a plethora of animals together. One of them in particular takes a liking to the man: a black cat, named Pluto.
The man’s life begins to go downhill when he starts becoming an alcoholic. He begins to abuse his animals just for the perverseness of it, and he becomes a lot more mean-spirited than the person he was before. One day, he comes home, and thinks that Pluto is ignoring him. In his annoyance, he forcibly picks up the cat, causing the cat to bite him slightly on the finger. This small inconvenience causes the man to become so enraged that, in his anger, he takes a knife, and gouges out Pluto’s eye.
Obviously, after this, the cat is positively terrified of the man. He avoids him as much as possible, but after about a week, it seems his eye injury has healed and is doing him no harm.
Then, just for the pleasure that doing the wrong thing gives him, one morning, the man takes it upon himself to finish the deed and hangs the poor car in cold blood.
That’s the end of the relevant section. If you want to know the rest of the story, I would recommend reading it-just search up The Black Cat by Edgar Allen Poe online and you can easily find it for free.
Anyways, what does this have to do with our beloved Nevermore Pluto?
Well, besides from the obvious similarities that Pluto shares with the Edgar Allen Poe cat, what stood out to me the most was the nature of the man. In episode whatchamacallitimtootiredtofinditrightnow, it is revealed the Pluto’s father is an alcoholic. Not only that, but enraged that Pluto wants to leave home and see the lights, he gouges out his son’s eye. Again, very close to the story. I wonder what the man did next to Pluto in that story?
I suppose it could be implied suicide due to the fact it was awakened in Pluto when he felt relieved, but remember in the story how Pluto’s eye injury had finally healed before the man killed him? It may be a far cry, but I believe that Pluto could have finally thought he was free from his father and that he made it out of his house before his father found him again and hung him. Finally relieved before it is yanked away from him. After all, that’s what he did in the story, and when he experienced the flashback of his death, he didn’t think or feel the thoughts of a relieved suicidal person (as memories of the time seem to slightly return during those flashbacks), but rather panic and fear, which would be odd if it was a suicide that made him feel finally relieved.
Also, he died wanting to go beyond the binds of society and what humanity deems is possible. If he had such a strong dream that he absolutely wanted to make happen, even present while dying, why would he kill himself and destroy his opportunity?
Honestly, I would also find it odd at this point if that wasn’t what happened. After all, the authors have been very accurate to the poems and stories of Edgar Allen Poe for the characters ripped from them. Again, Prospero and Duke, Eulalie has lavender eyes as described in her poem, and Berenice has a very heavy teeth theme like in her story. Not only that, but after following the story of the Black Cat for so long in Pluto’s backstory, I would find it odd if they changed the one thing that both Plutos were killed by if they were so accurate with Duke.
But who knows?
Perhaps I ramble like a madwoman.
#pluto nevermore#tw sui ideation#<= just in case#nevermore theory#nevermore spoilers#By the way this is just my theory.#If you truly strongly believe that Pluto killed himself#go for it! I won’t argue with you#this is just what I believe. And I say this as someone who has struggled with those thoughts before.#tw animal abuse#<= also just in case#edgar allen poe#long reads#sorry if this doesn’t make sense#sometimes I’m not very well articulated. Do…do you think kakyoin and jotaro would’ve still been friends after sdc???? Yk since they don’t have much in common and even Araki said that if it wasn’t for stands they wouldn’t have bonded over nun……yuh…..
i like to think that they would at least keep in touch, but they probably wouldn’t be all that close after sdc. I don’t think that there’d be any resentment or anything, but they’d probably both have different goals and shit which would kinda just lead to them never talking outside of the occasional phone call if that makes sense.
I can kind of see why people write them as really close though, since the crusaders were Kakyoin’s first friends and Jotaro always carries the picture of them around. Plus, they do both apparently like sumo, and I’m sure they would both watch a solid three hours of ocean documentaries. If the circumstances were a little different they could probably be decent friends.

what does the SHED in ur dni mean????
self harm eating disorder- basically the people who share their scars or just talk about how they have eating disorders
i understand that moots have that, which i’m fine with, but i don’t want people to interact with me if that’s what they mainly talk about, i have had some bad experiences with such and i’d rather not expose myself to more than is comfortable

maybe I like media analysis to me is because art is like people and social interactions for me. Like, I don’t understand art so I dissect it to its bare bones, looking at everything to it’s characters to its themes and through this overanalysis of the art, I start to grow a love for it that most people get by just simply experiencing it.
the only difference is that I can’t understand people in this way, that overanalysing your friends and family typically only leads to bad things and that overthinking in that way for real situations will only lead to many, many social blunders.
So analysing art is kind of an interaction in of its self to me. Idk, I’ll probably add to this later In a reblog
#🧠#sorry if this doesn’t make sense#it’s almost midnight#so I probably sound like Sheldon cooper or something
