[Not really sure if this counts as a request but here we go] Who’s your favourite male yandere(s) from genshin? And could you talk about why?

Ah I love this question! Thank you so much for asking. I've been really busy with college lately so I haven't gotten a chance to write recently, but after this week I should be finished with a lot of tests until finals. Just to clear things up, I absolutely accept questions like this! I feel like I haven't really shared a lot about myself as a person so I'm hoping to do more of that in the future.

I'd say I have four yanderes who I really like, and then a few who I like but I'm not obsessed with. Those four being Alhaitham, Neuvillette, Wriothesley, and Zhongli. Beyond the fact that I just like them as characters (and I'm gay asf lol) they're the most interesting yanderes to me, in part because of how much power they have in their societies.

Alhaitham is really interesting to me because there's this personal conflict between his values and beliefs and the idea of falling in an obsessive love. Alhaitham is inherently self-centered, not narcissistically so, but to the point where he prioritizes and values his time alone. In doing so though, he's also extremely lonely. I think a lot on how Alhaitham would react to someone who's able to match his sharpened blade of wit with one of their own, how he might exchange parries and blows with that person and find himself needing to understand the nature of their mind. I also think about how he'd react to someone who struggles with taking care of themself, or overworking: how he'd try to get you to stop doing so much and trying to please everyone. If his lover can keep up with his intelligence, he treats the romance like a game of chess, lining up his pieces to topple over the defenses surrounding your heart. His possession of you is slow and methodical, like vines growing on walls, slowly creeping over every inch. If his lover's wisdom is spent in other areas, then he's quick to snatch them up and take them home. While I think he's quick to get you under his control, it's harder for him to make them fall in love and surrender to his calculating embrace.

Neuvillette brings a really interesting element that I like to think about when I'm writing for him: immortality. He's a dragon who's lived for centuries, and that element of the slow passage of time is really fun to both write and think about. I really like to think of Neuvillette as a really, really soft yandere; he's seen humanity at its worst, and doesn't want you, the beautiful thing you are, to be tainted by all of its ugliness. Besides, he just can't help himself, what with his draconic instincts.

Out of the four, Wriothesley is the character I'd say I have the hardest time writing for because it's harder for me to explain why he feels the way he does. The working justification I have is that being betrayed by his adoptive family and living his whole life in Meropide made him incredibly lonely and developed a lot of abandonment issues that remained unearthed for years, as he didn't really make many close friends in Meropide. Then you come along though, and for once, Wriothesley has something good, something he doesn't want to give up. He's definitely one of the hardest yanderes to escape, what with Meropide being a literal prison. I think he definitely takes extra precautions when it comes to you, though, because he's so scared of losing them. Beneath his gruff exterior, there's a heart of gold, a man who only craves your complete affection and attention.

And then there's Zhongli, who was actually the character who got me into writing Yanderes. The thing about Zhongli is that as a yandere, you're practically powerless, unless you're on a similar or higher level of power/divinity to him. Even if you exceed his power, you're still going to have a very difficult time escaping his control. With how long he's lived and how much he's seen, he knows the only way to guarantee your safety is to isolate you from Teyvat entirely. Zhongli has no qualms about doing this, regardless of how much you might protest. Because when you've lost everything but Zhongli, you'll eventually—and inevitably—crumble into his arms. Only then will Zhongli put you back together, shaping you to be his perfect lover. Zhongli's greatest power as a yandere is his patience.

it actually pisses me off sm when there is a scene where an aggressor shoots at dazai and chuuya takes the bullet and dies trying to save him and has an elaborate death scene where he's bleeding out in dazai's arms and choking out his last words because we all fucking know man would just step in front of dazai and kick the bullets back to the shooter using gravity manipulation before saying smth snarky like "you can kys when we get back from the job."

“requiem for methuselah” crazy ass episode for many reasons. Kirk is being fully insane, like I don’t actually think, even controlling for how quickly and easily and readily he seems to fall in love with anybody at the slightest encouragement, that he’d go that bonkers for that android woman he just met while everyone on the ship was this close to dying, but that’s neither here nor there, because in the background you’ve got an equally but much more subtly insane episode for Spock, who extremely uncharacteristically admits to experiencing an emotion (or nearly experiencing, whatever) and that emotion is ENVY of all things. And then spends the rest of the episode warning Kirk away from this new love interest (something that doesn’t usually happen, even when Kirk has very inadvisable love interests) and is, in the end, the person who accurately identifies that Rayna’s competing love for Kirk and Flint is ultimately what overwhelms and destroys her with the most killer line in maybe history???

And then to wrap it up we get an equally uncharacteristic sort of denouement scene (TOS loooves to cut an episode off right after the actual climax, leaving little time for falling action or character reflection, or to stick a sitcom-y button on the end where the gang all smiles and laughs at their misadventures and everything resets to zero, which is not a criticism, it’s just the style of that era of tv, honestly) where Kirk is literally miserable over Rayna’s death (again, kind of unusual for a lot of his love interests, he tends to be able to move on pretty quickly) and Spock goes to see him and he falls asleep right in front of Spock (also odd) and then when Bones comes in to give the final word on Flint, Spock waves him off from waking the Captain (tender) and Bones gives him that awful speech about how it’s sadder that Spock can’t even imagine the love Kirk felt for this random android woman than it is that Kirk lost her in the first place (debatable but also rude) and how his great tragedy is that he can’t love at all like they can and how all he wishes is that Kirk could forget about all of this and move on. AND THEN, to have Bones leave and Spock go over to Kirk and very gently, tenderly, reluctantly touch him and put his hand to his forehead and tell him to forget and HAVE THAT BE THE END OF THE EPISODE??? What am I supposed to do with that??

Nene’s Role in Wonderlands x Showtime

The release of The Miniature Garden’s Coral seems to have confirmed some things I’ve recently speculated might transpire in future Wonderlands x Showtime events-- namely regarding Nene and how she may actually be the most important member of the troupe-- so, let’s talk about them! I’ll be using zui’s lyrics video for my translations, so hopefully they’re accurate.

With the past couple of WxS events in mind, it’s easy to see that this 3DMV is also about endings. While the MV begins in a sunny blue afternoon light...

...the characters and set eventually bask in a beautiful sunset orange, signaling the end of the day. The lyrics even mention being “between the end of the blue sky and the beginning of the night sky,” further emphasizing that we’re in the middle of the story. When the sky is blue, the troupe expresses uncertainty: Rui mentions that he feels lost, and Tsukasa, scared. But eventually, Nene admits that, in this beginning period, she was “spoiled by the sound of the waves,” AKA that the commotion surrounding WxS’s formation led to a troupe that became a source of comfort for all of them.

Once the sun sets, there are a lot of “even ifs.” Nene sings about how she’ll continue to sing this song, even if things are starting to look unsteady and she’s not sure if she should proceed. However, by the end of the song, she resolves to "still sing this song” while keeping up a smile.

I think that the fact that Nene says she will sing this song is incredibly important, because, as established, this song is about endings. Meanwhile, back in Mr. Showtime, Tsukasa firmly didn’t want WxS to end, and was holding out until closing time. Rui’s What Sort of Ending Are You Wishing For? and Emu’s Starry Sky Orchestra seemingly both acknowledge an ending as well, but it’s not at all easy. Rui seems to fall into a resigned depression at the thought, keeping a whimsical facade up when the very thought of separating kills him inside. The thought haunts him, MV riddled with hourglasses that he can’t get out of his head. Emu can only tolerate taking the first step towards a breakup with tooth-rottingly sugarcoated promises of eternal togetherness and literally holding hands as they go (I love her btw this is not Emu slander). She never even says the word “end,” only “tomorrow.”

Rui, Emu, and Tsukasa are basically Denialx3. Rui tries to deny his emotions regarding disbanding, Emu tries to deny that the ending is coming at all, and Tsukasa tries to deny that there’s nothing he can do to keep them from inevitably drifting apart. And that’s where Nene comes in again.

Rui’s dream is to perform technically complex shows that will resonate with an audience. He can do that from Phoenix Wonderland. Emu’s dream is to keep the Wonder Stage up and operating forever. She has to do that from Phoenix Wonderland. Tsukasa’s dream is to become the number one world star and make everyone smile. While this would likely take him away from the park, in another story, I could see it being possible that, in the end, Tsukasa decides that making the people in his local community happy is more important than trying to change the entire world. Thus, he could also follow his dream from Phoenix Wonderland, even if it’s not ideal.

But then there’s Nene. Her dream is, and always has been, to perform in Broadway musicals. Broadway is a live performance in New York City. There is no possible way for Nene to get what she wants while staying in Phoenix Wonderland. And that is possibly why Wonderlands x Showtime’s ending is the easiest for her to process.

Now, I’m not trying to say that Nene doesn’t love her friends. She adores them. Her three previous commissions have proven that. It’s the amount of love she has for them that will propel her to make what is actually the best choice for their dreams. Nene is the little mermaid, both when swimming freely the oceans with a beautiful, unstoppable song, and when enduring pain herself to stand with and for the ones she loves. Her friends, in this situation... are coral.

Remember that coral, “blurred” and uncertain in the water and “stained orange by the setting sun”? The miniature garden is Phoenix Wonderland; the coral is Emu, Rui, and Tsukasa; and that coral is stained orange by its desperation to keep rereading the final chapter instead of closing the book for now and putting it away to revisit in the future. Coral, while a beautiful living organism, is also completely static.

Static like stone statues which, at least by my interpretation, is what the rest of WxS turns into at the end of the 3DMV. The three of them (and Kaito) are paralyzed with the fear of the suffering an ending would bring. Only Nene is alive and human to be the one to show the group the benefits it can bring as well.

There are a lot of aspects of this song and Nene’s entire personality that lead me to believe that she will be the one to bring about change in WxS. First, she most often “has the braincell,” so to speak. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that she performs this song with Kaito, the most mature of the WxS vocaloids, either. During April Fool’s 2023, she was put into the Solid Heart class. One might think that troupe leader Tsukasa should be the Solid Heart, and that shy Nene should be the Cautious Heart, but they (accurately) sorted it the other way.

Nene is a very strong-willed person. In other stories, it might be seen as a negative that Nene is always the most hesitant one to get into shenanigans, or that she would even dare to be the one to suggest a WxS split in the first place. What an ungrateful wet blanket Nene is, willing to throw away her friends for the sake of her own selfish dream. But in this story, staying at Phoenix Wonderland isn’t really what will make Rui or Tsukasa happy, and even Emu may have to graduate to focusing on the entire company instead of just one stage someday.

Nene’s friends brought her out of the darkness and into the light of day, and she is so grateful for that. She knows how amazing they are, which is how she knows that they can make more friends and continue to do even more amazing things in the future if they can bear to leave their high school part-time jobs behind and enter the real world, just like her.

So, Nene’s role is to be Wonderlands x Showtime’s guiding light. She’ll tell Rui what sort of ending she’s wishing for, and then console him when he can’t repress his tears. She’ll be the one to hold Emu’s hand while they take that next step into tomorrow. Her three best friends helped her to grow from the loner who operated a robot from the theme park bushes, and she’ll help them step out of that theme park and be who they truly want to be.

There is one other thing I wanted to mention, though...

Tsukasa.

As I mentioned previously, while all three of Rui, Emu, and Tsukasa are in denial, Tsukasa is the most actively in opposition to an ending. He’s also the troupe leader, and the sole creator of the Wonderland Sekai. If someone is going to actively try to stop Nene from suggesting separation, it’s definitely going to at least start with him. But as Nene has already stated in The Miniature Garden’s Coral, despite any opposition that makes her question whether or not she should proceed, she already plans to continue singing her beliefs about a bittersweet yet timely goodbye.

And, their conflict is something that’s basically been foreshadowed from the beginning too, right? Nene has always roasted Tsukasa, giving a counterpoint to his blindingly bright worldview. In upcoming chapters, however, I believe that may start to transform from simple fun banter into a genuine conflict with clear sides drawn...

And THAT’S why ColoPale gave them Childish War.

Flickering lights, Fofoca in the middle of the night

Dreams are weird. Sometimes they feel neverending, trapping you inside a maze without an exit as you blindly prance around its corridors. Sometimes they reek with an odor of comfort, unfathomable in the repetitive void of reality.

The strangest thing about dreams is that you don't know that they are one until your awake.

Yuri has read all about dreams and what defines them, but although the moment had fit all the definitions of a dream like the last piece jigsaw puzzle.

This. Was. Not. A. Dream

She snapped her fingers, pinched herself and did everything she could to try and get dragged back into reality until they realized that reality was the book placed in front of them.

Yuri's fingers remained placid on the thick book, her thumb excitedly moved against along the paragraphs over and over- as if she was breathing the essence of the book, a larger dose at a time.

They noticed Vo, who was sleeping on the bed opposite to her, making confused facial expressions as a response to her grin. Her bunkmate Sol also leaned over their bed, sharing similar expressions to Vo. She wished they could all gossip about the contents of the book she book she was holding, but any sudden sound would startle Ms Lion, who was downstairs.

But thankfully luck was on her side today.

She noticed her reading light that illuminated their book was flickering. In a moment of complete confusion, the lights cackled off, annoyed yet grand thudding sounds entered the room, bouncing on the harsh wooden floor.

Yuri shoved the hard copy into her pillow, Sol frantically swooped back under their blanket and Vo thrusted themself towards the wall to pretend to be asleep.

Silence

"'Thank goodness the children are sleeping" a deep yet familiar voice huffed, breaking the tension. The sudden sound of a door shutting soon followed behind.

Yuri sighed of relief, embracing the darkness that had filled the room, she lifted her pillow to find the book.

A streak of light coming from beside her resaturated the room, Vo was holding a torch.

"Yuri its 4 am. what is so interesting that you needed to wake us up? Again" they lamented, in a drowsy voice followed by a small mmh-hmm.

"I swear I actually have a good reason this time-" she said "Look! I'll show you and you'll see!" Sol skidded down the ladder and Vo slowly approached her in curiosity. Yuri invited them to sit next to her on her bed.

Vo's flashlight illuminated the front cover of the book, which, to their surprise, was a dangerous red. The words boldy placed on it read 'do not read'. Yuri noticed her cabinmates nervous expressions, she clarified that it wasn't as bad as they thought but a guilty conscience started to form inside their soul.

"I'm not convinced" Vo remarked, after yuri finished her explaination "Why would Miss Lion have a secret diary the size of a table"

"Believe what you want to believe but firstly, actually read the book" she responded. Vo began to flick to the pages, then surrendered to Yuri's smug expression in annoyance.

"But you still haven't told us why this is worth ruining my routinely sleep" Sol, who hadn't spoken during the whole interaction, pointed out.

"Oh right. Sorry~" Yuri singsonged, then flicked to page 951, the page that made her question reality. An ercept from it read:

'Dear diary,

It is my 3rd anniversary of when I first started this job and to tell you it has been hard is an understatement. I love when I get to engage with the kids at camp, their doe eyes fill me with unimaginable amounts of joy. But, alas, 30 days of fun means months of planning, which stresses me to no bounds.

Today, Mr Wolf took charge of my work, which impressed me deeply. I know why I used to moon for him, he is everything that I am not, his elegance matches my energy and maybe I still do like him. Whatever. Those feelings most likely aren't mutualistic but oh diary, I love him.'

Sol cupped their hands against their hand, their mouth 'Ooooing' meanwhile Vo narrowed their eyes, scanning across the page in dismay. Then they turned to face Yuri, who still couldn't fathom the text, even though she had read it multiple times.

"Is this rea-" Vo was interrupted by the lights flickering back on, and the sound of footsteps. Sol pounced on the book to hide it, wincing in pain as it pricked their body.

"Oh kids did the outage wake you? I just fixed it with Mr Wolf.-" A voice chimed, the three of them choreographed a synchronized slow turn followed by a look of judgement.

"What? Is there something on my face?"

like, honestly speaking, i thought it'd be pretty obvious why it's portrayed humorously the way it is: gorou is a general. he's a grown ass man, and he's a very proud type of character, who evidently prides on his image: he wants to be seen as intimidating, tough, and reliable. that's WHY him being so intimidated by yae miko, and WHY he's so embarrassed by being around her, is meant to be played as a funny throwaway plotline.

if they truly intended to portray yae miko as a predator, don't you think they would give such a sensitive subject the respect it deserves???? i would certainly never take a media seriously if sexual harassment was the direction they wanted to go in if it was written as a gag about CROSSDRESSING.

it's even worse when i see people salivating at the idea of putting yae miko through corrective rape as "revenge" or "punishment". at this point, you're just using yae miko as a scapegoat and fuel for your blatant misogyny and lesbophobia.

i have nothing against people who like dottore, wanderer, etc. and i think it goes without saying, liking fictional characters should not reflect your morals as a person. but the amount of double standards, of the misogyny in the fandom, are quite obvious tbh? like i'll see people insisting that they give morally complex characters like dottore and wanderer the same energy but it's almost always only said if it's to also shit on female characters in the conversation.

this might sound wild, but this is still a double standard. being only ever able to criticize your male favs if it's to shit on the female characters you dislike is still misogynistic, actually.

I talk a lot about how different fanon!Helia is from canon!Helia but not enough but how bad it is for all the characters.

Like you have Riven going from this insecure teenage boy who lashes out at anyone who challenges him to this suave bad boy who could kill the winx. People seeing Stella as a stuck up brat, thinking that she loves Bloom more than the other winx, or that she would ever choose to be selfish in ways that hurt the other characters. Or Flora going from this fairly confident young girl who loves to meet new people and hangout with others to an introverted shy mess who never speaks up and would never say something sarcastic. Not to sound like a bitch but I really do think it's time the fandom stops pretending we're better than other fandoms and don't have Fanon Versions because we do and it's messing with y'alls perception of canon so fucking bad

I'd be impressed if Oda was vilified for it honestly, what I suspect might be more likely is him not being over jules being viewed as incredibly pathetic and weird, maybe even obsessive or some shit,

He'd absolutely be a whore as his personality though... given his nature to flirt with everyone (even if only to be friendly or surface level etc.) they'd be like he'd date n fuck anyone and forget his morals while they did it

Jules would be so woobified it's not even funny like people would forget how many bad things he's done and continues to do simply because he's a shut-in and easily flustered

The idea of a guy who's overly verbose and talks more than a good few of my muses being the 'quiet all the time one' is wild... i wouldn't even know how to comprehend that..
