People keep wondering how Trump won, but honestly it's relatively easy to see. On top of the far right turn that usually takes place after disasters, there's a few other factors at play. Mainly, inflation.

The average American doesn't have a clue what's going on in their government (state or federal) or around the world. I tried talking to a local about Palestine, and she thought it was another word for Pakistan. Right now the biggest concern I've heard from my neighbors is actually groceries and gas prices.

Biden failed to address inflation, and Harris didn't have a solid plan. Neither did Trump, but Trump did say he was going to decrease prices, and the people in my rural area here remember everything being cheaper in 2017 but not much else. That includes just about every racial group present in my neighborhood. We don't have widespread Internet and most people get the news from satellite TV news, so they are uninformed about most things.

(logistics are tricky for people to keep in mind when their wallets are on the line)

On top of that, Trump promised high tax returns for many income brackets . That extra money looks awfully good if you're struggling to afford groceries right now. Regardless of if he's going to do it or not. (Prices will probably get higher because of the proposed tarrifs). People want to keep their own fed and safe, regardless of foreign affairs or civil rights. The second Trump's team announced their tax return plan I knew he was going to be elected. I'm just surprised I predicted it before Allan Lichtman.

I don't know where this post is going, but don't blame other left-leaning people for voting 3rd party or being pro-Palestine. If you really want to figure out the general consensus among average Americans, talk to your neighbors. Join a local Facebook page. Organize and build community as much as possible. We will need it in these difficult years.

Gina, I want to tell you I have been reading your blog for a couple years now. I’ve never sent an ask to anyone. I first came into the fandom when I watched Harrychella and I thought hmm this man isn’t just flagging he is screaming at the top of his lungs. Then I watched the Cosmic Leeds videos and I fell down a rabbit hole. I am not someone who believes “conspiracy theories”. I am however old enough to know closeting has been proven to exist in the entertainment industry. I’m also from a rural area of the U.S. where homophobia is the norm, so unfortunately I had no trouble believing closeting still exists. I went into full information gathering mode about Larry Stylinson, but it was more than that too. I fell in love with 1D and all the boys’ solo work, especially Louis. I loved his voice, his songwriting, and his ‘real’ personality (when he allowed it to shine through all the media training). I read through every tumblr I could, you and Daisie provided a wealth of information that can not be ignored. I feel certain that Larry was real and I hope they are still together. I’m not one of those people who never doubted. It would be hard not to second guess things in this fandom with all the gaslighting that goes on. I write all of this to say that I’ve never felt so sad and like there is no hope for change as I do right now. It feels like Louis’ fandom is falling apart. There is so much division, hate, and intolerance of any idea that doesn’t conform to someone’s own. Louis pr strategy honestly baffles me. A divided fandom is so tiring. It seems less like pr and more like intentional sabatoge, which I guess it could be. I just don’t see any way out for him or Harry. I think Harry’s extended break is partly because of this too. I think he was overworked and emotionally drained for many reasons, but closeting most of all is exhausting. If I’m feeling this way as a fan I can’t imagine how they must be feeling. It breaks my heart. Sometimes I hope I am crazy and Larry was never real because the story is just too sad. Don’t even get me started on bbg because it is the shittiest situation ever. I think I need to take a step back from the fandom for a bit. But this brings me to my point. I’m pretty resilient, I can not be the only person feeling this way. It makes me so worried for Louis’ career and for both Louis and Harry’s mental health. I guess I don’t really have an ask. I just wanted to say thank you for all the information you have provided over the years. And, I needed to get this off my chest. If I posted this on twitter I would be roasted and I’m not strong enough for that right now. I meant it when I said I fell in love with their music, so I will continue to support all the boys. I’m hoping there is a master plan that will eventually set them free. But, I just keep coming back to the line

Hi, sweetheart. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I'm sorry it feels so overwhelming right now. I do think taking a step back is probably really healthy for most of us. I've actually never seen the fandom in such shambles.

I don't know what Louis' plan is in terms of his fandom or his future plans. But I have dozens and dozens of sad, confused, and angry messages in my inbox, and that fucking sucks. I really don't see a way forward at the moment. I will say, though, that some of the upset stems from some people's tendency to lean into worst-case scenarios and amplify their own worries by jumping to conclusions. Then there are the shit-stirrers who try to make things worse by sending in fake receipts or theories. It's hard to stay grounded when there's insanity whirling around you.

As for Harry and Louis, I do tend to believe they're still together. I don't think their relationship has been as easy as many of us would like to believe – I don't think it could be, given their ages when they met and the conditions they've had to live with. I do think they're soulmates... soulmates don't always end up together, but I tend to think these two will make it. I certainly hope they do.

Our fandom never does well when the boys aren't active. I think if you want to get your sanity back, now is as good a time as any.

some post wad weekend thoughts...

i just wrote all this on the plane and haven't read it through so apologies for any mistakes

first of all, this weekend was incredible. i usually just kinda sit at home doing not much of anything, and this was a much needed break to actually have some fun. london in general always lifts my spirits but i suppose that danisnotonfire guy contributed a little as well.

guys i think i've met more people the past few days than i otherwise have in years. like. holy shit. i started listing people but i'm petrified i'll forget someone so i chickened out, sorry about that. but you all know who you are. i've met friends i've had for years, people i used to know but haven't spoken to in what feels like a decade, newer friends, and a frankly baffling amount of people i didn't know yet but who told me they've followed me for ages. like holy fuck you guys lmao what the hell??? and i mean did the reaction ever get old no of course it didn't. bad for my ego i'm sure but totally worth it. there's something very amusing and incredibly surreal about being chronically lame in most aspects of life and then suddenly finding yourself in an environment where you're kinda cool???? SO fucking fun oh my god, but also i do kinda feel like i've tricked you all? but hey i'll happily let you keep believing i'm cool, that is more than fine with me.

most importantly though everyone was SO lovely. like i said i don't think i've spoken to this many people in such a short amount of time in years and every single person i talked to was awesome. guys did you know phannies are kind of great... don't tell anyone but, lowkey... everyone is so funny and cool and absolutely insane but in a good way (shoutout everyone left at the gates until the very end, we should probably get some help).

and then lastly of course, mr howell himself. i talk about this a lot i feel like but fuck me that man was born to perform. whether you think he's actually funny or not, nobody can argue he doesn't absolutely thrive on a stage. he plays off the audience so well and he's so very obviously having the time of his fucking life. i'd already seen the show twice before this, and i didn't think anything would top the previous london show but man... the first night he came back out after the show having clearly been tearing up backstage, apologising for being an inconsistent absent parent, and i can't lie the "i had daddy issues and THEN i subscribed to dan howell" got me cause yeah no literally dude, you nailed it, exactly, well done. i think something about doing this show again, his magnum opus as he considers it, now after the dapg return was very special to him. he seems genuinely surprised that so many of us were ready to just jump back in like nothing happened, i don't think he was expecting so many people to still be waiting and it's... man. he comes off so grateful for us all and it's so fucking sweet. and then on the last night, i think that was my favourite, when the show ended and he got the standing ovation and people throwing him flowers.. he was so HAPPY. and clearly overwhelmed with emotion which, i gotta say, there is something honestly kinda funny about daniel howell standing in front of you trying not to cry. like no by all means dude go ahead, please, you've made me cry an endless amount of times it's only fair.

ugh. i'm proud of him or whatever. dick. and i'm proud of our ridiculous fucking community. i'm not sure what 14 year old nora would say if you'd told me i'd still be kicking it in the phandom a decade on, but at almost 25 (fml) i'm so so happy to be here still. you know, we get a bad rep, but i genuinely think as far as fanbases go we're pretty solid. and i love you all so much.

They said smth along the lines of that the loudest majority of jayvik shippers are totally misogynists and get mad that people are shipping Jayce and Victor with women. In addition they said that the "louder" people represent the ship and the reputation of jayvik shipper will always be bad and quote "I don't expect anything good from people who are interested in this ship".

That is a weird viewpoint to have. Sure ig we can say that the loudest people in a group kind of forge the opinion of outsiders about it (and ignore that actually MOST jayvik shippers don't have anything aganist straight ships with Victor and Jayce in them, hell some even ship them with Mel as a throuple). But what I find most baffling is assuming (EVEN after saying that the LOUDEST (not majority) part forges the REPUTATION (not fully represents every jayvik shipper)) that based on that reputation everyone who ships them is a bad person.

Sorry if this sounds too much like a callout post (ask) but I've seen this exact attitude from various people in many different fandom spaces and I'm just fed up with it.

dude i NEED to tell you that reading your posts about scott has been a breath of fresh air. like, GOD, i always see him hated on, called manipulative, controlling, bossy, interfering, and all sorts of stupid shit. both c!scott and Scott Major the Real Life Man. i've sort of come to the conclusion that this fandom MUST have some sort of internalized homophobia thing going on because somehow i just dont think its a coincidence that the only Out Gay Man in the life series is the one who gets hated on the most.

I’m so glad that my posts can bring some ease to people!! It’s absolutely an internalized homophobia thing. The same people who call Scott “manipulative”, “toxic”, or “abusive” never call out Joel, Grian, or fWhip for being so much worse than Scott. When it’s an ACTUALLY out gay man, it’s toxic and manipulative and bad. When it’s two straight guys, it’s cute or hot.

Scott doesn’t do anything differently from anyone else other than be an openly gay and flamboyant man, yet he’s the only one who gets demonized. People need to understand that it is targeted. If it weren’t targeted, you would be calling a whole ton of your favorite creators “manipulative”, “toxic”, and “abusive”.

Can people even call the wraith scratch theory a theory at this point? And I know theories are theories until proven but It's basically already confirmed canon. I know it hasn't been confirmed yet but there is so much evidence to back it up it baffles me how people still don't believe it's true.

Comparisons, the noses are literally the same shape, the hair has the same shape, they have the same double chin, they both have the same structural face format, hell have you not even noticed that scratch and Todd are played by the same guy, DANA SNYDER!!! Wraiths have already been introduced to be a thing along with Molly's soul-less body when she's not in it! It has a greyish tone (Todd has a grey tone to him, hell he literally wears grey clothes) along with the soul-less body sounding dead and toneless (again Todd has the same thing). And don't say "Well he can't be a wraith because he sometimes shows emotion" no shit he shows emotion, have you not realized how long he and scratch have been separated? Todd is basically his own person. We don't have a time frame as of writing this but it has too have been a pretty long time. We do know that scratch has been a "ghost" for many years and doesn't remember a thing.

Another thing, scratch and Todd both love food, the only time we've seen Todd smile is when there is FOOD INVOLVED in the episode "Festival of lights"!!! And if you know scratch you know he will literally do anything to eat anything, he will eat garbage, he will eat literal objects, he loves food. Honestly you don't even need to know him to know he loves food, because most times when he's around hes either eating or begging for something greasy.

Honestly I don't even know how someone can still deny this theory. This feels like the Steven universe corruption theory all over again. What confuses me the most when it comes to these femme/masc discussions is that these poeple act like the majority of fanarts, fanfics, even analyses, don't characterize lestat as the masc one.

He is predominantly the top (and even though they are CANONICALLY vers, bottom lestat is very much unpopular), he is drawn taller, bigger, more mascular than Sam actually is. He is also usually "the husband" , "the father", and I would say that even the fact that he is seen as less vulnerable plays into that trope. Of course Louis being seen as the total opposite.

It is disingenuous to act like your opinion will take away all of those popular interpretations or that you have taken away all Louis' feminine traits by doing your own research behind some fan readings. And the fact is that many of them are based on modern standards of what it means to be masculine/feminine,on the way poeple see gay men as more feminine by default or are simply already largely accepted by the fandom.

As you've said already, neither of them are exclusively masc or femme! And at the end of the day caring more about a fictional character than about the fact that there is a real person behind the screen you are calling names or making negative assumptions about is weird. Especially when that person has been open to fair and real discussions from the beginning.

Im terribly sorry to ask but I’ve noticed someone in your YouTube comments talking about you blocking them over images IDs?

yes, i'm aware. i blocked them forever ago because their messages asking about image descriptions in my art were getting a bit too much. literally everytime i would post something they would ask about the lack of an image description. this went on for quite a while before i decided to block them, and i felt bad for it.

now, i understand the need to make posts accessible, i really do. i know how important that is and it wouldn't hurt for me to try and write image IDs. but it is to my understanding that some people do and some people don't. i simply do not have that habit. to come barging into my discord DMs after joining a server i own, calling me ableist for blocking them as well as trying to force me to put image IDs as if i "owe" something to them is simply absurd.

they told me that as a larger artist, i don't have the luxury to have inaccessible posts. they are saying they got blocked on discord but that's not true, we talked for a bit and i sent them another message only to find out it couldn't be delivered. i assumed they had blocked me or left the server they were in and i literally have the screenshots for this.

to seek me out like that, demanding me to do something that many other artists do not really made me anxious and mad. i am disabled myself and while i don't expect them to know that as i don't talk about mental health in public (aside from a few social spaces), being called ableist for no reason really hurt me :/

i want to clear the air, so this is the last you'll ever hear from me. i don't hate zenitsu because he's autistic-coded; far from it, actually. i just think he (and most others in the demon slayer cast tbph) is a poorly written character. in fact, if he's truly meant to be autistic representation, then then it makes the way he's treated and handled in the story that much worse to me. his meltdowns and otherwise dysregulated behavior are used largely for the sake of a punchline and -with the exception of tanjiro and maybe inosuke- the people around him either see him as a joke or are otherwise baffled by his existence, which is also used for comedy and not to make him feel like a sympathetic character. he's the butt of many a joke and that's about it, save for the few moments that buck that trend and make him more sympathetic. and while every character in demon slayer is about as deep as a 14 year old's self-insert sonic oc, zenitsu hasn't really shown much personal growth since his introduction, something he himself explicitly acknowledges in season 4. as a fellow autistic who to an extent also struggles with emotional regulation, i found his character personally insulting sometimes, so i think he's bad representation. if you love him, that's great and i love that for you, but he doesn't do it for me. to further clarify, i've only seen the anime and don't have any interest in the manga or light novels, and since that's going to be representative of most people's experience with this story, it bears mentioning because it will form the basis of their opinions as it has mine.

I'm not gonna touch the "poorly written" thing because bad/good writing is subjective, like all art is.

I really don't think he's treated as a punchline? Sure, some of his traits are played for laughs, but that can be said about Tanjiro's autistic coding. And Inosuke's autistic coding. And Muichiro's autistic coding. And Giyuu's autistic coding. And autistic coded characters from other media. (For what it's worth, I don't think Zenitsu's autistic coded on purpose; autistic coded characters rarely are).

Zenitsu IS seen as weird by other characters in canon, I'll give you that, but that's...reality for autistic people. It's not just Tanjiro and Inosuke who treat him decently, either. Shinobu treats him decently. While Aoi gets annoyed by his refusal to take his medicine, she doesn't treat him as less of a person, either. Kyojuro didn't treat him poorly. Jigoro didn't treat him poorly and loves him dearly. I'd honestly take far more issue with his portrayal if his friends and surrogate family found him impossible to deal with and acted like they barely tolerate him. But they don't.

(This is also Taisho era Japan; even in modern times, I think Zenitsu would get treated poorly by most people due to his autistic traits).

As an autistic person, I saw him and was like "he's just like me fr" and found a lot of comfort in his character. Granted, I'm also fully aware that if I were a fictional character, I'd be considered bad autistic rep.

I also appreciate that he WANTS to change, but has a hard time doing so, which is pretty realistic, imo.

I don't agree that he hasn't shown much personal growth, either. He grows a bit more confident and brave after season 1, he stands up to Daki while knowing she was a demon, and he can handle solo missions now. Also, his arc isn't over yet. But again, art is subjective, so to each their own.

so I've been on Tumblr for over 12 years, I have been in many different fandoms for a lot of different things and have always tried to stay in my own lane. I did start watching 911 in April after bi!buck became a thing, but I went back and started it from the beginning and well it baffles me that people ship anything other than buddie sorry

but all of that is to say I have NEVER blocked as many people before as I have since joining the 911 fandom with the bts taking it too far. I'm no stranger to toxic fandoms or ship wars. I'm used to curating my online experience and filtering stuff out. but the bts are a whole other level. I could barely go into the tags without having to block someone. in the past few months I've blocked more people than I have in my entire life on social media.

and I'm not unblocking them. yeah some I blocked because they were annoying but the majority I blocked for their misogyny and racism or because they were taking it too far. I don't care if they come back to buddie or whatever because to me the trash took itself out

Oh, yeah, me too, like I've been in fandom online definitely for way longer than I should, the Harry Potter fandom was always particularly nasty when I was a kid and being a teenage girl in the early mcu fandom was definitely an experience, and ship wars have been part of most fandoms I've been in, but things here are on another level not just in the way they are treating other fans, but also the way they are treating the actors and creators, like, I've never seen anything like this for sure. I feel like if you stop to think about the show without the Buck is bi excitement goggles, you can see what they were doing, but somehow things got completely out of control. Also thank you for exemplifying what I've been saying that they won't lose the new audience as a whole when the breakup happens, I feel like there's people acting like the people who started watching after the biBuck thing are all bt shippers, it's nice to see it's not the case.

I've seen so many drawings of Knives working fast food on twt and its so fucking funny I love it so much. he would evaporate if he worked in my city during tourist season. but anyways, always down to talk about reverse isekai. hope you enjoy it!!

•it doesn't take long for Knives to get used to how things work on Earth. in fact, he finds a few similarities on Earth and Gunsmoke: you go to school, graduate, get a job, pay bills, buy groceries and so on.

•it's the way the corporate world, government and social media works that he has a bit of a harder time understanding? Knives gets it, he understands the concept and how greed consumes but he's still baffled by it all.

•I won't get into much politics or the saddening things that are happening around the world, but every once in a while, when watching the news, Knives will turn to you and just say 'I am considering returning to my old ways.' and you just hum in agreement.

•he also has a hard time adjusting to being around so many people almost all the time now. even though he stays inside your home most of the time he can still hear people talking, cars driving by and airplanes. it takes him a while to get used to all the noise.

•Knives only really goes shopping with you out of curiosity. he wants to see all the things that are on Earth even if he says he doesn't care. (overtime he starts going with you to make sure you're safe and that he can protect you.)

•I think he'd quite like farmers markets though. it may be busy but he can push through it for the fresh food.

•this man has zero online presence. the only account he would ever have is a youtube account if you and Vash (mainly Vash) managed to convince him to make one to post his music. other than that, he refuses to make accounts for Twitter or Instagram. he sees no point in it.

•Knives doesn't use a diary, but he does write what he did that day on the calendar app. his notes are very blunt too, 'went to zoo. interesting animals.' 'went grocery shopping. boring.' 'celebrated their birthday.. was fun.'

•he also doesn't text much and when he does the messages are short and straight to the point. "what do you want for dinner?" "when are you coming back home?" "we are out of x, pick some up on your way home." and he leaves you on read a lot too.

•also uses proper punctuation and dots the ends of his sentences. he rarely uses abbreviations and slang. the first time Knives used lol you acted like it was the biggest thing ever and he just replied 'stop freaking out.' then promptly left you on read.

•now let's say Knives somehow gets an ID, ssn and all that stuff. like the universe said go help pay bills and gifted him those stuff or smth.

•I've been seeing Twitter talk about Knives working at McDonald's in a modern au and yeah that's funny, but this is a reverse isekai and Knives is still dealing with his kill all humans mentality. if he worked customer service or at a restaurant he may genuinely say fuck the military consequences and consider mass genocide after one too many bad encounters. plus Knives would just be like 'why would I serve an inferior being?'

•but I could see him working at a small local book store or library. it's quiet, not too busy and Knives gets to easily learn about new books or books he may never have ended up hearing about. not much really happens, but one day more people than usual come in to buy a certain book. Knives mentions it to you and you have to explain how a Trigun fan account recommended 'This is How You Lose the Time War.' he has to take a second to take the information in.(I'm so sorry I just had to add this in nsvsjwhks- iykyk-)

•he still has a hard time wrapping his head around the fact that people enjoy Trigun. Knives tries not to think about it a lot, it weirds him out. the fact that a lot of people know about his past, trauma, and apparently, future makes him feel a little queasy and gross. he knows there's nothing he could've done and though no one knows he's actually there, it's still really invasive to him.

•anyways, if Knives learned how to drive, he would be very responsible. the only time he'd break any laws is speeding 10 mph above the speed limit on the highway, but everyone does that so he just joined in.

•whenever someone near him is driving like an asshole he sits there with a death glare. he's there thinking, 'I could ruin your car with my blades. I won't, but I could.' (he wishes he could but he knows many cars have a dashcam and that would cause bigger problems than just legal ones.)

•if it weren't for him living at your place, Knives would have little to no decorations in his home. maybe a few plants and coasters on the tables and books that he likes on a bookshelf, but that's kinda it. he might frame some of his paintings and hang them up. (I can see him with hanging vine plants)

•he gets into gardening a little, maybe hydroponics. Knives doesn't really want a big garden, but he'd like to grow a few vegetables and herbs.

•Knives still doesn't sleep, but over time he will join you for bed and cuddle you as you fall asleep. though after a while, Knives will get out of bed to do his own things. it takes a while for him to get into the idea of just sleeping, but he starts to indulge himself as he realizes how comforting it is to lay with you and rest.

•he starts to surprise you with romantic dinners, like he'll have candles lit up, a slow melody playing in the background. afterwards Knives will draw a bath for you and if you want him to, he'd gladly join you. either way, he's helping you wash up, telling you to just rest after the day you've had. it's the least he could since he can't work.

•overall he does end up adjusting quite well, it just takes him a long time to accept that he does have to live among humans and that the goal he's been working towards for years is practically undoable now. and it takes even longer to start indulging himself in other hobbies and his emotions that start to grow. (although I think his view on humans won't exactly change. but he acknowledges that there are people who are fighting for the greater good.)

Idk if you're following the vcha situation or not, but (silly me) I was genuinely shocked by some of their contract provisions. Seeing it written out that the company might give them specific roles/personalities for them to adhere to was... like I knew it was a thing in kpop, but having it written out was bizarre. Equally crazy to me was that JYPE didn't more significantly adjust this contract to (1) even attempt to match cultural expectations in the west or (2) more meaningfully comply with California labor laws. Tbf, I don't know how California views the concept of trainee debt, but the state has notably better labor protections than elsewhere, and they certainly won't slide on a minor not being compensated for work. It'll all go to arbitration so we probably won't see much, but I'm truly baffled by the clusterfuck this is. What preparation went into this? How much oversight is their American partner company giving them, and why would they ever work with them again? Also, they're just clearly unprepared for how litigious Americans are. Meanwhile, there's hybe - and I'm by no means a company stan - but some of the katseye girls getting tatted up as we speak, being not-secretly queer, and having their own social media and outside friends very visibly, at least makes me think they have a different contract.

There are a lot more serious and heartbreaking things in the complaint that should of course be given more attention, but I just wanted to ask about the sheer insanity of that contract.

Yeah, the VCHA situation is just very sad, and makes me wonder if kpop contracts are still that bad at JYPE (and elsewhere...). Honestly, those girls seemed to be in a worse position than Korean trainees? Do you think JYPE had more doubts about some American girls' abilities to follow orders like soldiers and adapt to the insane Korean trainee life, and so were more carefully drawing up their contracts to protect themselves? Is that bit about personalities necessary in a normal kpop contract where the possibility is more or less implied since the beginning?

Also, yeah, JYPE vs. HYBE shows that a global group can't be just a group of mostly non-Koreans singing English or Korean. You call it a global group because you want it to go "beyond" kpop, notably in the West where you are setting up the group - so, duh, context matters. KATSEYE look pretty happy everytime I see them, and I've seen videos of them getting ready to go out with friends, talking about tattoos, and admitting to double dates... it's refreshing and also VERY MUCH THE POINT of a global group. I'm not gonna praise HYBE at all, they are just doing the bare minimum. People complain idols have no freedom and are too robotic, then they are giving Westerners idols that are more like the celebs they are used to, while still being very much molded by the kpop world (tight and demanding choreo, max coordination, kpop styling, group dynamics, insane work hours, etc.).

Anyway, I read about the contract a while back and was obviously disappointed and concerned, because I thought things had been improving, but clearly not.

However, I don't remember many more details, sorry!! But I would love to hear more thoughts from you if you have any to share!
