Wukong is definitely the kind of guy that would say that he doesn't like chin scratches, but his tail movement tells a different story.

Oh, he totally is! The bastard would say that he doesn't care about stupid scratches but would be buddle. In Journey Sophie one time tried out of curiosity while he was laying on her lap. Immediately Wukong would be mad and demand that she must stop because he hates it. Sophie would say sorry but would brush his hair with her fingers, bc that's at least what Wukong sometimes demands. In reality, tho he loved that she scratched his chin! Maybe a bit too much and it came out of nowhere for him. Wukong's tail actually doesn't move almost at all unless he moves it like to grab something or help in balance. I will that guy and break people's hearts, but monkeys don't swing their tails (like dogs do) but some of the monkeys signal when they feel treated like macaques. Most of the time the tail is busy if you think about how much monkeys use their tails.

I'm a big fan of taking advice. The advice I took this weekend was-- go out, be with people, laugh, connect with humanity.

I went to a Renee Rapp concert and a Taylor Tomlinson show "by myself." But, you know, not at all.

I laughed and I sang along with hundreds of other people who connected with the material just like I did and it was exactly what my monkey brain needed.

It was more than I normally do for my birthday by a lot, but it was like medicine. I just keep rewatching the video I made for the concert. The venn diagram of theater nerds, Swifties, and Renee Rapp stans is a circle, so during intermission the ENTIRE crowd sang along with Cruel Summer. Screaming "I love you ain't that the worst thing you've ever heard?" with hundreds of others???? Yeah.

I had listened to the openers before going to brush up.... but Towa Bird live???? ohmygod. I'm. A fan now. She's a literal rock star. I was enamored. The way she played. Her voice? Excuse me. Alexander23 was great, I really only knew one song (Hate Me if it Helps) but they covered "Everybody Wants to Steal My Girl" and it was SO fun. Like. SO fun. They were very bouncy. And Renee. Rapp. HOLY... She has the best smile? She's so funny. She read a sign. She had us sing happy birthday to a girl. She was cheeky and the energy was IMMACULATE. Fell in love with songs of hers that I'd have skipped before. The woman just GAVE.

Un/fortunately Tomlinson has a no camera's policy. It was so good for being in the moment, definitely the right choice... but I have no memory and now all but a handful of the jokes are in my brain... I know I laughed so hard I cried though. She somehow made me feel smug sitting between three couples (either side and behind) because of the way she talks about being single. Her tour is called the Have it All tour so the jokes centered around that, like you achieved your dream job... do you get love on top of that? Or vice versa? Which. Apropos. Her and the opener were just... dynamite. I'd never heard Sophie Buddle before-- very Alexis Rose with more cum jokes. Also. Taylor is apparently dating women now. So. There's a chance ladies. She made a joke about how a friend asked if she was grossed out by the idea of going down on a woman and she said no, she's just afraid of being bad at something as an adult. Which. Was literally me at her age. Never thought I'd be able to relate to her on that specific thing? But it was so so funny to hear. And also also, not as a lesbian, just as a woman I'm going on the record that her ass is amazing? Like. Kudos. Yeah. I'll leave there.

Jen & Sylvia Soska’s latest film ON THE EDGE makes Australian Premiere at MonsterFest.

Family man Peter (Aramis Sartorio) gets more than he paid for when he books a 36-hour session with the sadistic Mistress Satana (Jen Soska) who seems more intent on making him suffer for his sins. Is it blackmail? Is it torture? Or is it the Devil come for his soul? Will Peter’s faith save him from his own personal Hell or is he already damned? A brilliant depiction of how Kink Culture can heal past trauma and be a source for shocking redemption.

On the Edge stars Jen Soska and Sylvia Soska, who also share writing, directing and producing duties. The film also stars Aramis Sartorio, Ola Dada, Andrea Jin, Brianna and Alanna Finn-Morris, Ivan Decker, Mackenzie Gray, Sophie Buddle. The Soskas produced alongside Glenn Burchnall of Cathasaigh Productions, Luna Wolf of Disturbia Films, and Kevvy of GothMamba Productions.

On the Edge is set to make its Australian premiere at MonsterFest, welcoming the Soska Sisters back following the 2019 screening of Rabid, their remake of David Cronenberg's 1977 thriller.

On the Edge will screen November 26th at Cinema Nova in Melbourne and on December 9th at venues in Brisbane, Sydney, Perth and Adelaide. Festival passes and screening tickets are now available.
