Shrouded in darkness
Warning: 18+, very dark themed, mentions of s*x, m*sturbation, m*rder and bl**d.
Episode 1:
"We all have a monster within; the difference is in degree, not in kind."
Douglas Preston
Darkness fell on the streets of London, casting long shadows over its bustling nightlife. A row of six sleek, black cars stood in front of a lavish hotel, their polished exteriors gleaming under the streetlights. Suited men emerged from the vehicles, their presence exuding power and importance as they moved toward the grand entrance, where an exclusive auction was in progress.
In the adjacent building, hidden in the shadows of an upper floor, Ghost waited. His sniper rifle was mounted on a tripod, its barrel aimed at the hotel entrance. A cigarette glowed faintly between his fingers, the smoke curling upward and dissipating into the night. His phone buzzed softly, a message from Laswell lighting up the screen.
"Is it done?" she had texted.
"Pending," he replied, his eyes never leaving the scope.
"Make it quick," came her terse response.
The minutes turned into hours as Ghost maintained his vigil, the cold night air chilling him to the bone. He remained patient, every sense honed, every muscle coiled and ready to strike. Finally, the doors of the hotel swung open, and the suited men began to spill out. His finger moved to the trigger, poised for action.
Among the exiting guests, the mafia boss appeared, flanked by his entourage of guards. He mingled with the departing crowd, his movements casual yet guarded. Ghost's gaze tracked him with relentless focus, waiting for the perfect opportunity.
Time seemed to slow as the target's head came into view, framed perfectly within the scope. Ghost took a steadying breath and squeezed the trigger. The silenced shot was a whisper in the night, but the impact was instantaneous. The bullet struck the mafia boss's skull, splintering bone and sending a crimson spray into the air. Screams erupted from the crowd, a symphony of panic and terror that echoed through the night.
"See ya in hell, bastard," Ghost muttered under his breath.
With swift efficiency, he dismantled his rifle, the folding mechanism allowing it to be quickly stowed in his backpack. He moved with practiced ease, descending the building and slipping into the shadows of the street below.
As he blended into the dark alleys, his phone buzzed once more. He pulled it out, glancing at the screen before typing a single word: "Done."
He sent the message to Laswell and pocketed the phone, disappearing into the night. The chaos of the evening slowly began to settle, the screams fading into the background noise of the city. For Ghost, it was just another mission, another enemy eliminated in the silent war he fought from the shadows.
The bar stood in the corner of a dimly lit street, a haven for those seeking refuge from the city's chaos. Ghost pushed open the heavy door and entered, his presence causing a brief lull in the low hum of conversation. He made his way to the bar, his movements deliberate and unhurried.
"Two fingers of bourbon," he ordered, his voice low and gravelly.
The bartender nodded, pouring the amber liquid into a glass and sliding it across the polished wood. Ghost took the glass and downed the bourbon in one swift motion, the burn a familiar comfort as it coursed down his throat.
His gaze shifted, sweeping over the room. He noted the clusters of people, the casual banter, and the occasional bursts of laughter. But it was the women who caught his attention. Their dresses clung to their curves, accentuating the swell of their breasts and the roundness of their asses. The sight stirred something primal within him, and he felt his cock twitch in response.
Under the mask, his tongue flicked out to wet his lips, a small, almost subconscious gesture. He leaned back against the bar, allowing himself a moment to indulge in the simple pleasure of watching, his thoughts momentarily drifting from the weight of his mission.
It had been a long time since he had fucked a woman. His sexual desire was at its peak, and he found himself jerking off in the shower every other day just to extinguish the relentless flames.
"Fucking Hell!" he cursed under his breath, the frustration evident in his tone.
After leaving Task Force 141, Ghost had become a mercenary, a lone wolf who killed for money. The change had been necessary, a way to escape the rigid structure of military life and the haunting memories that came with it. But the solitude of his new existence brought its own challenges. The thrill of the hunt, the cold efficiency of his kills, provided a temporary distraction, yet they did little to satisfy the deeper, more primal needs that gnawed at him.
Ghost's eyes continued to roam the bar, lingering on the women who seemed oblivious to his presence. He imagined their bodies pressed against his, the softness of their skin, the heat of their breath. His cock twitched again at the thought, a reminder of his pent-up desires.
Taking a deep breath, he shook off the distraction and signaled for another drink. He knew better than to let his guard down completely. In his line of work, vulnerability could be fatal. Yet, as he sipped his bourbon, he couldn't help but wonder if, somewhere amidst the chaos of his life, there might be a fleeting moment of connection, a chance to feel something more than just the cold steel of his weapons and the blood of his enemies.
Ghost escaped the bar, his mind still clouded with unfulfilled desires. He went straight to the hotel provided by the CIA for his mission. The dimly lit room was a stark contrast to the noisy bar he had just left. He entered, closing the door behind him with a sense of relief.
He took off his shoes, placing them neatly to the side. Methodically, he removed his backpack carrying the sniper rifle and carefully placed it back in its case. The case was shaped like a guitar with an actuall guitar on top and the sniper snuggled in the hidden compartment under the guitar.
Each movement was precise, almost ritualistic, a stark reminder of the life he led.
In one swift motion, he pulled off his hoodie and tossed it aside, leaving him in only his sweatpants. He exhaled, the tension of the night beginning to dissipate. He slid off his sweatpants, followed by his mask, and approached the mirror.
He stared at his reflection, his face partially obscured by the faint light. The man staring back at him was a stranger, hardened by years of violence and solitude. His eyes were cold, yet somewhere deep within them flickered a spark of the humanity he tried so hard to bury.
Ghost's muscles were taut, his body a testament to the rigorous demands of his profession. He traced a scar on his abdomen, a souvenir from a mission gone wrong, and felt the familiar pang of memories better left forgotten.
For a moment, he allowed himself to be vulnerable, to acknowledge the man beneath the mask. The man who, despite his lethal skill set and unwavering resolve, craved something more than the endless cycle of violence. He shook his head, trying to dispel the thoughts that threatened to unravel him.
After Johnny's death and Captain Price's execution of Shepherd, the once formidable task force fell apart, scattering its members to different corners of the globe. The bonds forged in battle were strained by grief and betrayal, leaving them isolated in their own ways.
Captain Price and Gaz still maintained contact with him, though their conversations were laced with a sense of loss and the weight of their past. Gaz remained in the military, his dedication unwavering, a soldier to the core. Price, however, had receded into the shadows, a ghost of his former self, burdened by the decisions he had made.
For Ghost, the dissolution of the task force marked a new chapter in his life. The skills honed in countless missions were now employed in a different capacity. The CIA, particularly Laswell, recognized his unparalleled prowess as a sniper and his ruthlessness as an asset. He had become their go-to hitman, tasked with the most difficult and high-stakes assassinations. His name was whispered in the corridors of power, a shadowy figure who dealt in death with clinical precision.
Laswell knew she could rely on him. Ghost operated with a detached efficiency, the memories of his fallen comrades and the betrayal that tore them apart fueling his drive. Each mission was a means to an end, a way to channel his rage and grief into something productive, something that gave him purpose in a world that had stripped so much away from him.
Despite the solitary nature of his work, Ghost was always connected to the remnants of his past. The mission in London was just another night in a series of endless assignments, each one blending into the next. But as he stared at his reflection, the man behind the mask, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was more than just a tool for the government. He was a survivor, a warrior carrying the weight of his lost comrades, and a man still searching for his own redemption.
All these thoughts and then the thought of you, your infectious smile, the way you sat on your knees for him, his pretty little thing, the way your lips wrapped around the girth of his veiny cock, haunted him. He stood in the shower, water cascading down, wetting his brunette hair with blonde highlights, flowing over the hardness of his chest all the way down to his erect cock. He took it in his hand, memories of your tongue stroking his length flooding his mind.
His breath grew faster as he began to stroke himself, the sensations mingling with the phantom touch of your hands. He remembered the way he used to fuck you so hard, pinning you down on the bed, your cries of pleasure echoing in his ears. His pace quickened, driven by the raw need that consumed him.
Then, the memory shifted. Your smile twisted into the gurgle of blood as you choked after being shot in the chest, your eyes closing for the last time in his arms. "Fuck!" he cursed, the pain of that moment as sharp as ever.
He reached his climax, his cock twitching as pearly liquid oozed out, mixing with the warm water of the shower. The release brought no relief, only a hollow emptiness. He placed his hands on the cold tiled walls, his thoughts returning to his young sergeant who had loved him so fiercely.
But she was gone, taken too soon. She had become a dead flower, wilted and lost forever. Everything that came into contact with him seemed to rot, and she had rotted away in his arms, her life extinguished while he could do nothing. The weight of his guilt and sorrow was a constant burden, one that even the rush of battle and the heat of passion could not erase.

🦀 👑 I was worried something happened to you with Paladin Danse and female sole please?
And congrats on the 1.5 k🥰
Well, this is darn precious, isn't it?
Poor Danse always worrying about Sole when they're gone is literally canon, and I'm here to exploit that fact.
Anyways, I hope you enjoy!
This turned out longer than expected, but... 🤷♀️
"Gonna start another irrigation system with the hole you're wearing in the ground there, pal."
Sturges' voice sounded out from where he was seated on the old stump outside the workshop house in Sanctuary, the sound hardly reaching Danse's ears as he wound around to pace in the opposite direction once again.
"Really," The voice continued, insisting, yet gentle at the same time as it managed to reach him through his thoughtful stupor. "I'm sure she's alright. She's got Preston with her, you know? And it's only been half a day past when they said they'd be back."
The words of comfort were lost on him, as Danse continued his pacing, bootfalls heavy with each step he took, scattering dust in the dry air, his mind occupied with every unpleasant sort of thought, every instance that could mean his partner's demise, or her maiming, the possibility of her blue suit never shimmering into focus on the sunlit horizon ahead of him.
Danse tried to swallow back these thoughts, these ruinous concerns, this unproductive way his mind held firm to its own habitual and cataclysmic over-analyzation of his partner's unexpected absence. But as usual, it would not leave him be. Wouldn't let him rest or see reason.
It would only keep plaguing him.
If I'd only been able to go with her, if I knew, for certain why her return was taking longer than anticipated, then...
But he'd known from the start that going with her wasn't an option.
Too close to the airport, within the line of sight of those aboard the Prydwen.
Too dangerous.
He knows he would've been a liability now, that he was keeping her safer by not going along with her and her Lieutenant, but still... Danse felt as though he were letting her down, that he was being lazy or cowardly or just plain neglectful.
"You listening to a word I'm sayin', Danse?"
Finally, the ex-paladin paused his movements, amber eyes trained on the soft, orange glow of the near-setting sun.
He sighed.
"Look, pal-- can I call you pal? Can't remember if I asked you about it at all before." A gloved hand fell heavy on the ex-paladin's shoulder as Sturges' voice grew near to him.
The handy-man's eyes were trained on the man beside him, waiting for a nod, a 'yes,' a something, but Danse's attention was still focused elsewhere.
"This ain't the first time they haven't been on time, right?" His hand gave Danse's shoulder a gentle squeeze. "You been on missions that haven't ended just the way you thought, and you turned out alright, right? This don't mean something's wrong, necessarily."
"We won't know until they return." Danse said somberly, his voice almost a croak from it's misuse over the past couple days.
He'd never imagined feeling this kind of closeness with someone again. His bond with Sole was stronger still than it had been with Cutler, with Krieg, with Haylen. With even the Brotherhood as a whole.
She was everything to him, and though it scared the shit out of him, though he knew it wasn't healthy or fair, he felt utterly lost without her by his side.
The sun set and the moon rose, Sturges sat beside him as long as he could bare before sleep called his name from across the street, and he set off home.
Danse remained.
Synths don't really need sleep. He told himself firmly.
I can go without. This is too important.
By the time the stars were in full formation, Danse was pacing again, wrestling with the idea of going out after them. He could face those on the Prydwen if he couldn't hide from them, he could re-trace Sole's steps, try to track her and Preston, ask around the settlement they were going to, the settlements they passed on the way. It would be easy.
Easier than sitting here in a cold sweat with stomach cramps that felt like crawling mirelurk hatchlings burrowing in his guts.
"Sole, come on." He whispered to the wind. "Where are you." His fist pounded on the edge of the nearby fencepost, and the wood creaked in mild protest at the affront.
As Danse hung his head, as his teeth ached with the pressure of his set jaw, he heard a twig snap in the darkness.
His head shot up, bright amber eyes alert as he studied the dim space around him.
"... Sole?" He ventured, probably naively.
An animal, maybe. Or the wind. Don't become too optimistic, it'll only make it more of a blow when you--
His thoughts stopped hard in their tracks as movement caught his eye. A pair of bodies, moving slowly, not over the bridge, but through the woods at the other edge of town.
He was running towards them before his mind could properly register the movement.
"Sole!" He shouted as their familiar outline grew more defined.
Danse's heart was in his throat as he grew closer, as he noticed the way Sole was-- No, the way that Preston was leaning against her, one arm around her shoulder, and another holding a walking stick as he limped beside her.
"Danse?" Sole's voice sounded, and the ex-soldier swears he'd never heard something so sweet. "What are you doing up? It's the middle of the night!"
"Are you hurt?" He came to a hard stop in front of the pair, eyes scanning over his partner's form rapidly as he caught his breath.
"No, Danse I'm fine." She smiled as she answered him, her expression confirming the honesty of her words for him.
"And I'm alright too." Preston added with a soft huff, "No need to worry about me."
"Then...?" Danse's expression made him look lost, even in the dim of the night, his eyes shone with continuing worry.
"Preston sprained his ankle after we took out the raiders, and we had to change course and rest on the way back. The whole thing was actually kind of funny--"
"Not sure if I agree with that part, General." The minuteman chimed in with a tired grin of his own, and Danse only nodded, his expression still unsure as he fell in step on Preston's other side to help support him.
The group moved slowly, but eventually made it to Preston's Sanctuary home and left him to rest his sore ankle. With her Lieutenant taken care of, Sole and Danse made their way out, heading to their own shared home down the street.
"I'm sorry we weren't back on time. I know that it's not easy for you..." Sole's voice was small, her eyes glued down to her feet as though she'd done something wrong.
Danse stopped walking suddenly, and she halted a few steps ahead of him.
"Danse?"
His eyes met hers as she turned to face him, and in the next moment, Sole found herself wrapped tightly against her partner's chest.
"I don't blame you for being unable to inform me of your change of circumstance." He told her, his voice gentle, but still holding that commanding firmness he never quite seemed to shake, "I'm just... I'm glad you're alright. I was worried something had happened... I..." Danse's voice seemed to give out before he could finish, and Sole wrapped her arms tightly around him, returning his embrace with the same such desperation she felt pouring through him.
"I know, love. You don't have to say it."
A warmth caressed her heart as Sole felt Danse's head lean against her own, as his embrace redoubled in its comforting intensity.
"I don't know what I would do if something happened to you."

Preston was bored. No, he was beyond bored. Bored Preston was bad enough, but this, this was borderline abuse in his mind. He tossed and turned in the too-soft bed that filled the chamber he had been staying in since they had arrived for the coronation. The walls of the room felt like they were closing in, so a nighttime stroll to find a stiff drink was in order. He pulled on a shirt before sliding into the shoes beside the bed. He was careful to be quiet as he slunk through the halls towards one of the rooms he remembered seeing a selection of the finest drink. If he was lucky he might even run into someone that might be able to fill in the gaps of what was going on around here.
While he had mildly hoped someone else might be around to glean information from, he was a bit relieved to see no one in the sitting room when he entered. He made quick work to power himself a glass of the amber liquid. He drained half of it, savoring the slight burn he felt as it rolled down his throat. It was then when the light scent of another reach him, female for sure, but not one he was familiar with. He turned to see it was the queen mother nodding his head slightly to her, before taking a second drink from his glass. "Shall I pour you one as well?" He asked her. "It would be rude of me to drink our liquor without offering you any."

The Storyline of the Extended Cut of the Scream franchise Part 1
Hello there, if you like the descriptions of all the characters in the Extended Cut of the Scream franchise, well because I did the additional cast list of the Extended Cut of both films, i'll be doing the storyline with additional scenes that can't be definitely seen in theaters. Here's the storyline in the Extended Cut of the Scream franchise.
Warning: It may have spoilers of the Extended Cut of both Scream movies.
First it's the Extended Cut of Scream (2022)
●During Tara's being attacked by Ghostface, Wendy Hicks was at home with her brother & sister Wes & Lexi & her friends Rebecca & Matthew Bishop but her boyfriend Kurt Parker saying he could not make it. The five were watching a 80's horror movie Gremlins but Becca pushed for Prom Night. Becca said "Come on Jamie Lee Curtis is a horror icon!" In the next morning Wendy gets a call from Judy telling her that Tara was attacked by someone wearing a Ghostface mask, Wendy drops her phone & looks over at Lexi & Wes. Amber said "Well someone has to." Everybody talks about Wes that he had a crush on Tara until Liv's ex-boyfriend Vince gets her but Chad protects her, Fred yells that Vince gets a knife out of his pocket, he tolds Fred to shut up or he stabs him but Will comes up protects his brother from Vince by using his martial arts background to disarm & beats him up, the bartender tells him to get out or she's calling the cops & she's also gets them out too.

"What's for dinner?" Lexi said as she gets a text from Chad.
"Sushi. I was just leaving to pick it up." Judy said.
"Why don't you just Postmates it?" Wes asked her while Lexi was texting Chad back.
"Oh, it gets all smooshly by the time it's here. I know you hate that. Go take a shower. I'll be right back soon." Their mom tells them.
"I promise to be back before you get home. I have to go meet up with Chad. He wants to apologize more we're meeting each other halfway." Lexi said as she opens the door & before their mother can speak then she speaks up. "I have my taser & pepper spray. Don't worry. I love you guys." Lexi said as she shouts so they shout it back.

But Carrie intervenes, offering to drive Wendy there & bring her home after, Wes reluctantly agrees & hugs Wendy, telling her he loves her, "Ew, Wes... I love you too." Wendy said as she tells Wes & hugs him. "I'll see you when you get home." Wes said. "You promise?" Wendy asked. "I promise." A promise that Wes intended to keep but couldn't.

"Sure, dear." Mrs Parker said. Wendy ran up to his room & grabbed her notes but noticed a Ghostface mask sitting in a pile of dark clothing on the floor. Backing out of the room, she bumps right into Kurt Parker, "Baby, what are you doing here?" "Just grabbing my... notes..." Wendy said as she gets visibly nervous. "Everything alright, baby?" Kurt asked. "Yeah Kurt, everything is fine, absolutely fine." Wendy said. "Do you want to stay the night? You know i could protect you." Kurt said. "I really should go home Kurt, my mom & Wes are waiting for me there." Wendy said.
●Meanwhile, as Lexi was blocks away from the house, her mom honks the horn then passing her & waving making her laugh. A lot of people thought that Judy Hicks was a little over the top with her bubbly personality but Lexi loves it. She was super close to her mom, brother, & sister. They were all they have since their dad is an piece of shit & left their mom there to raise them alone.
"Are you walking yet?" Chad said as he calls Lexi.
"Yeah, i'm walking. I'll be halfway in a few more minutes. Why couldn't you have thought about this when i was over not too long ago?" Lexi said.
"I'm a little slow at times. You know this." Chad said as he laughs. "You got your protection with you?"
"Of course. I love to be safe & my mother would kill me if i left at home without it." Lexi said as she laughs.
"Very true. You, Wendy, Fred, Will, & Wes are such mommy's girls & mommy's boys." Chad said.
"Hey! She's the only parent that we got dude." Lexi said as she hears a siren & watches her mother speeding up by going back towards the house.

She pushed it more & has enough room to see Wes died on the floor making her cry out louder. "Wes! No." When Will sees his mom Judy Hicks gets killed, he's in shock & he's called in help as she's squeezes though bending down, grabbing him to see his neck.
"No, no, no, no." Lexi screams out hearing more sirens getting closer.

"Can you tell us what happened again?" A deputy asking Lexi as she's starting at her dry bloody hands.
"My mom just left to get dinner & I left to meet with a friend, leaving Wes alone with Will & Fred. When I was almost to my friend's house, my mom speed up past going all the way back to the house & i thought the worst. I got here & saw it, it was the worst." Lexi said as she cried.

"Yeah & the other killer is you. Maybe you are & Richie is right." Sam said.
"You think that i killed them? You think that i could do something like that? That i could... that I could killed a person? A human being? Especially my mom & my brother?" Landon said as he's getting speechless of what Sam is saying.
"I don't know." Sam said.
"Oh shit, Tara." Landon said as he saw the deputy at the crime scene.
"Hold on, Richie. Landon where are you going? Sam said.
"Tara is in trouble & looks like the cop that was at the hospital is talking to Dewey. So i'm heading over to the hospital right now." Landon said.
●Meanwhile the two argued some more... when they arrive at the Hicks house, Wendy sees the the bodybag in the front door & hops out of Carrie's car (her dad's old vehicle) running towards the body before Dewey stops her "No." Dewey nods his head, "Wes?" Wendy asked through tears, Dewey nods again as Carrie walks up & Wendy's legs gave out. "Dad, what's going on?" Carrie said as she looks over to the crew pulling out another body bag, "No..." She looked back at her dad as she holds Wendy, "No. No. NO!......" Will, Fred, & Lexi heard Wendy & comforting her, Lexi tells Fred & Will to go with Wendy & Carrie while she finds Tara in the hospital, the brothers responded "Be careful!" But Sam said "No, Lexi. Your family..."
"Is gone. I lost my mom & Wes & i'm not losing my best friend too. So i'm going with you." Lexi said as she gets in to the backseat & Dewey gets on to the passenger seat.

Landon said "Hey, Tara. How are you feeling?"
Tara said "Well everytime i get attacked, they give me better painkillers. There's that.
Sam said "I'm sorry."
Tara said "For what? You saved my life.
Sam said "For not telling you sooner. For being the reason dad left."
Tara said "You're not the reason dad left. You can't choose where you came from or who you came from. I don't blame you for that. I blame you for leaving the both of us.
Landon asked "Us? What do you mean us?
Tara replied to Landon "Landon, you & me."
Sam said "That's never gonna happen again."
Tara said "I know. Why didn't you come to me back then? I could have helped.
Sam said "Because i was scared."
Tara asked "Of what?"
Sam said "I was scared that i would turn out just like him. So i ran. To protect the both of you. From me.
Tara said "Sam, you could never be like him."
Landon said "Sam, you ran from home to protect Tara. You are nothing like Billy, so you don't need to worry. Tara are you high?
"Tara said "I'm so high right now. Not even gonna lie.
Everytime Tara said that, it's makes Sam laugh.
Sam & Landon said "I love you."
Tara said "I love you guys too. So what do we do now?"
Sam said "What nobody ever does in these situations."
Landon said "We are getting the fuck out of Woodsboro right?"
Sam said "Right."
Meanwhile, Lexi sees Tara after she's talking to Richie.
"Come here." Tara said as she opens her arms for Lexi to cry into them.
"I have no one. My mom & Wes are gone. I just found them Tara." Lexi said.
"You're not alone, Lexi. You have me still. You can come with Sam & me." Tara said as she pulls back from the hug.
"You're my best friend. Way more than Amber. Please just don't tell her that i said that." Tara said as they both laugh.
"Hey, Lexi." Landon said as Lexi turns around as she sees him.
"Oh My God, Landon." Lexi said as she hugs him, turning out he's okay. "I'm glad that you here. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, i'm all right." Landon said.
"You both know each other?" Tara asked.
"Yeah, Landon is our stepbrother." Lexi said. "It's been a long time."
Yeah, it's been a long time. Landon said. "Where's everybody?"
"My mom & Wes gotten killed, Will & Fred is staying with Wendy & her friends & Carrie is here." Lexi said as she wiped her tears from her eyes. "Have you show up at our house?"
"Yeah, i was here later to see Wes, but when i saw Wes getting attacked, I was there to stop Ghostface, then he tries to stab me but he spares me because he tolds me that i'm still alive because he made a promise." Landon said.

Amber said "Follow someone into a dark creepy basement alone. I mean... how do you know i'm not the killer?
Mindy said "Because i am. I'm not actually, but let that be a lesson: Don't. Trust. Anyone."

●At another house Will & Fred's friend group The Friendly Posse watching a scary movie but they wasn't alone & not the only ones watching, there's also another friend group led by the two brothers in the form of Terrence William & Lawrence James Watkins (better known as Terry & Larry). They're both horror movie buffs, specialists, & survivalists also gamers who have has their own friends such as Laura "Lori" Sanchez, Miranda Rodriguez, Connor "Cash" Conway, his older sister Yvonne Conway (who's probably the baby half-sister of the killer Jill Roberts), Terry's girlfriend Katherine "Katie" Jones, Kathleen "Kathy" Willamson, Roland "Rory" Williams, his sister Elaine Williams, Graceland "Grace" Prescott, Rory's girlfriend Elena Connors, Grace-Lynn "Gracie" Moore, Dorothy Johnson, her younger sister Riley Johnson, Marty McCreary, Trent McCoy, Richard Jackson, his girlfriend Nicole Kennedy, & also Lori's older sister Lorraine "Lynn" Sanchez. As they all watching the original movie Halloween with Jamie Lee Curtis, they experienced how Michael Myers kills people with his signature butcher knife, Richard rants about why they watching it over & over, Terry sushies him, Marty said "I want to see her breasts, I want to see Jamie Lee's breasts, where do we see Jamie's breasts?" Terry said that Jamie Lee Curtis is always the virgin in horror movies also Gracie responds to Terry that she's a legitimate scream queen in the 70's or 80's, Dorothy said "I could afford a decent pair.", Terry heard what she said but Craig asked them "How it that turned out? Like somebody is out-think or out-maneuver the killer.", Larry agrees about that but he lets Terry telling him about that, Terry tells them that they have to outsmart the killer in the big scene in the end, only virgins can do that, he asks them "Do you know the rules?", then Phil asks "What rules?" Terry can't believe that they don't know about the rules of horror films, but Larry comes up to help him out, tells them that if they are familiar or too familiar about the rules, he lets Terry telling him about the do's & do not's what you do in a horror movie, Samuel thinks that Terry telling them about the aspects of a horror movie but Terry said "No, but there are certain rules that one must abide by in order to successfully surviving a horror movie." Terry tells them the rules of horror films by using his kind of the same horror movie monologue used by Randy Meeks then Marty said "I'm getting another beer you want one?" Larry said "You'll get two for both of us." Terry said "Yeah sure." Marty said "I'll be right back!"
Everybody said "Oohh!"
"You can't fucking said that! You know there are rules to survive a horror movie, you can't fucking said that man!" Larry said.
"Yeah, you see what happens if you push the laws, you've ending up dead. Okay, i'll see you in the kitchen but don't said that again you should not said it in the first place." Terry said.
"I'll go with him to get the beer if you don't mind." Trent said.
"All right, go do that but keep an eye on him." Terry said.
"Man, i want more beer! We want some beer! Where is the beer?" Craig said.
"You always want more beer." Malik said.

"Domino's does that Miranda." Terry said.
●Meanwhile, Trent & Marty are getting the beer while they arguing until Chad shows up & said "Where's your buddy?"
Marty said "He's not here."
Trent said "Hey! No jocks in the house."
Chad said "Who are you calling an jock?"
Everybody still talking, waiting for Trent & Marty getting the beer until chaos ensures when Chad tosses Marty & punches Trent & saw Terry & said "YOU!"
Terry said "Holy Shit."
Chad begins going to tackle him as Terry runs & said "Larry!", Larry swoops in to save his older brother & attacks Chad by wrapping his arms around his throat & said "What are you doing here at our house? You think you're some tough guy huh? I could beat up tough guys like you but you are some angry tough-looking jock."
Chad said "I ain't no jock!"
Larry said "There's no jocks in the house. No thanks to that long hair, huge curly top girlfriend of yours."
Chad said "Dude that's gross! That's my sister you talking about."
Larry said "It doesn't matter if your sister shows up here!"
Terry runs to upstairs & goes to the room but he saws Lexi & Wendy Hicks who's probably behind him & said "Why did you killed our brother?"
Terry said "You probably got the wrong guy." He's dodging the Hicks sisters, lock the door & heading downstairs, siding down the stairs using his athleticism,
Katie & the others tell Terry "What's going on?"
Terry said "That's what's going on."
Everybody defending Terry as Rebecca, Matthew, Carrie, Wendy, & Lexi shows up attacking Terry,
Will & Fred who has shown up as Andrea said "Will? Fred?" The brothers responded "Andrea? You guys? What are you doing here?"
Sam, Jenny, & Kim said "What do you think? We watching a scary movie." As Will, Fred & their friends arguing, Richard, Nicole, Gracie, Elena, & Rory explained to them that their siblings & their friends attack Terry, Amber Freeman shows up, surprising her best friend Elaine, they have a reunion, Elaine introduces everybody to Amber Freeman, Kim, Yolanda, Gabby, & everybody of The Friendly Posse knows who Amber is, Izzy & Dame shows up as well,
Izzy said "Hey Terry, Catch!"
Izzy throws the gun to Terry as he loads it then points it on everybody & said "What the hell are you all doing here at our house!?"
Will said "We came here looking for some help."
Larry said "Yeah, unless there's an pissed off jock attacked my brother for no reason."
Chad said "I said I ain't no jock!"
Terry said "Well maybe you got a good reason why you show up here."
Katie said "I didn't see Mindy."
Terry said "Izzy? Dame? What are you guys doing here?"
Izzy said "We just got here to bring Will & Fred to you until everyone just come here to know what's going on because they said you killed Wes & Judy Hicks & Dewey Riley."
Terry said "What!? I did not do that!"
Will said "We didn't say that, they all saying that you killed our brother Wes & our mother."
"Will!" Wendy said.
"My brother didn't killed everybody." Larry said.
"No, they're all saying that you both have killed our brother Wes & our mother & Dewey Riley." Fred said.
"Fred!" Lexi said.
"What?" Fred said.
"You know Terry didn't do any of that. I didn't see Mindy." Katie said.
Terry said "Me neither."
Mindy said "Mm'hmm."
Terry & Katie notices that Mindy didn't show outside at the window, she's showed up at their house,
Katie said "AH!"
Terry said "Whoa! What in the fuck Mindy? You scared the shit out of us!"
Larry said "Mindy? Do you & you people think that you attack my brother about me & my brother did something to some people earlier? You son of a-"
Larry squeezes Chad around the throat as Mindy said "Let my brother go! You're about to turn him a little blue."
Larry lets go of Chad & gets there to protects Terry but Mindy said "Don't try to protect him. Because i'll tell you why: You've let your older brother start explaining the rules by starting mimicking our uncle Randy."
Everybody said "Uncle Randy!?
Larry said "Whoa, whoa, whoa, you're both his son & daughter are you?"
Mindy said "No, we're uncle Randy's niece & nephew.
Larry scoffs & Mindy stares at the brothers.
Terry asked "You want to know why about explaining the horror movies in general Mindy?"
Mindy sighed "What?"
Terry said "You always talk about requels of the movies already released, but they have horror movie villains in every single franchise out there such as Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, & countless others, some people watch remakes of these movies like Universal's classic monsters, but here's the thing they watching Prom Night at every single time, they're watching the horror movies in general because they have source material, because every source material has an every simple formula, EVERYBODY'S A SUSPECT!"
Everybody is heard what Terry is saying.
Larry said "No, not you guys.
Terry said "Now you know why about that & you people just breaking to our house in the first place."
Terry turns around as he sees Amber Freeman.
Amber said "Really sweetie? (Laughs) How'd we know if you guys are not the killers?"
Matt said "Yeah, how do we know if you guys are not the killers? Huh? Huh? Huh?"
Amber flirts with Terry & Matt tries to grab him in his shirt collar but Larry & Katie protects him.
Terry said "Uh, hi Amber."
Larry said " Hey look, that's not how it looks like man."
Matt said "Well maybe my best friend's mother & brother who's probably my childhood friend just got killed & my girlfriend's dad also got murdered earlier so it might be a good reason that you both show up here."
Terry said "Well maybe you people just got here to Woodsboro because of the murders occurred in three decades ago. But the question is: How are we know if you guys are not the killers?"
Wendy, Lexi, Matt, Carrie, Chad, & Rebecca heard what Terry said & they wasn't happy about it. But Will & Fred tells them about their alibi.
Will & Fred said "We're not, we just-" Will & Fred trying to tell them that but Mindy cuts them off as she's tells Terry about that. "Because I am."
"What?" Larry said as Terry turns around as he heards that Mindy said & he starts to shoot her & everybody stops him from shoot at Mindy but she said as a joke "Whoa, don't try to shoot me Terry because I'm not the killer exactly but let's make one lesson clear: Don't. Trust. Anyone.
"Then how the hell can we trust you even you guys are definitely not the killers?" Terry said as he defends his girlfriend, brother, & their friends from the killer as they all at the same situation they're in.
"Which is definitely the point." Larry said as he, Katie, & everybody protecting Terry at the same situation that he's already in.
"Exactly. You both learning. Looks like we saw you all watching the original movie Halloween just like our uncle Randy does." Mindy said as she noticed that everybody watching the original movie Halloween with Jamie Lee Curtis.
"Yeah, we just almost finished watching it." Terry said to Mindy.
"Really? By the looks of it, it almost at the end." Amber said.
"Yeah, almost at the end. So why are you guys even here?" Katie said.
"Even you guys saw Izzy & Dame." Rory said.
"We saw them because they said they wanted to ask us to meet them tonight." Fred said as he pointed out that the two brothers wanted to meet them.
"Yeah, we did want you to meet us until you both bought an whole mob of angry people coming over here attacking my brother!" Larry said.
"Dude!" Terry said to Larry.
"What?" Larry said.
"You know that's not polite saying to anybody when there's a killer is on the loose." Terry said.
"Yeah, especially the two killers attacked everybody." Rebecca said.
"We did not killed everybody." Terry said.
"Really? Because it looks like to me that you guys also show up in Woodsboro, especially you bought an blonde hair girl with a cute bowtie on her head who tried to pull my hair down." Carrie said.
"That's my younger sister you talking about." Dorothy said.
"Thank you so much for saying that i have an beautiful bowtie on my forehead, but i am not that cute." Riley said to Carrie with a calm then serious look on her face.
"Looks like you guys haven't getting alone. Are you?" Rebecca said.
"We are getting alone just fine. So what are you guys doing here?" Cash said.
"We're looking for some help because there's a killer is on the loose who's wearing a Ghostface mask." Fred said.
"Wait, are you talking about that one from Stab?" Riley asked.
"Yeah & he's also in real life." Will said.
"Yeah, it looks like you have a party going on at the house." Elena said.
"Yeah, it's a memorial of our brother." Fred said.
"Fred!" Lexi said as she punch him hard in the arm.
"OW! What? They need to know." Fred said as he rubs his arm.
"Unfortunately we did not killed Wes & Judy Hicks & Dewey Riley." Terry said in complete honesty as he said the names that make the ladies really mad but Grace stops Lexi because Terry is telling the truth.
"Oh boy." Cash said. "That's not a good idea for that."
"Terry, you didn't kill everybody especially there's a knife-welding masked killer on the loose." Miranda said to Terry.
"You weren't supposed to fucking say our brother's name you son of a bitch!" Lexi said to Terry as she goes to punch him in the face but Grace stops her.
"Lexi, wait!" Grace said as she stops Lexi from punch Terry in the face then Lexi noticed that the same girl they had meet outside at the picnic table.
"How do you know me? Wait a minute, you're the same girl we saw in the picnic table, talking to these two people of the Friendly Posse." Lexi said.
Yeah, they're both my older brother & sister." Grace said.
"Wait a second, if you guys are related, that means-" Will said as he's getting speechless of what he heard about until Mindy just know that they are related to.
"You guys are probably related to one of the legacy characters." Mindy said.
"Yeah, my mom is a survivor of these attacks." Grace said.
"Hey, she's our mom too." Jenny said.
"Our mom is none other than-" Samuel said as he cuts off because Lexi knows their mom is.
"Sidney Prescott." Lexi said.
"Wait, Sidney Prescott!?" Will & Fred asked as they both in absolute shock what they heard.
"She's also my cousin." Yvonne said.
"Well, i didn't know that." Jenny said.
"Wait a second, what?" Chad said.
"Well my mom knows her well enough." Carrie said.
"Just like Allyson & her mother Karen who are probably daughters of Laurie Strode who has been played by Jamie Lee Curtis." Gracie said.
"How do you that- whoa." Lori said as she sees the face of the actress on TV.
"Come on guys, Jamie Lee Curtis is definitely a horror icon." Rebecca said.
"Look I'm sorry, we're not going to help you mourn your loss of your loved ones or clean up the house of ours because all the collateral damage that you people just made, but we are happy to help you taking down Ghostface." Terry said to anybody who came at their house.
"I don't know that's not a good idea because everyone is going be wearing the Ghostface mask." Fred said.
"Yeah, but the thing is: The killer can be anybody." Mindy said to Terry.
"So wait, you guys want us to help you taking down the killer?" Wendy asked.
Yeah, we do want to help you guys out. So what the killer do? Killing people by starting a reboot or something like that?" Larry said.
"No, the killer starts killing people because he's doing it as an requel." Mindy said to Larry.
"An requel? I don't know what that is." Larry said.
"Well you see, it's a movie that which is definitely revisits the subject matter of a earlier film but it is not a remake or a linear continuation of it's plot." Terry said.
"Whoa!" Fred said.
"I definitely know that you notice that my boyfriend is a smart kind of guy." Katie said.
"I can't believe that he knows that." Chad said.
"I don't neither." Will said.
"So wait, you're the smart member of the group?" Carrie asked.
"Well mostly, i'm the smartest." Terry said.
"So what, you telling me that requels are different because of a storyline?" Samuel said.
"Yeah, like Mindy said it definitely does a part of an ongoing storyline & does going back to the original." Terry said.
"Yeah, but the question is: How do you know Sidney Prescott?" Will asked.
"Yeah, how do you know Sidney Prescott?" Fred said. "Looks like a couple of months ago or something?"
"Will." Wendy said.
"Fred." Lexi said.
"What?" Will & Fred said.
"It's OK, you guys. Well you see i have seen her ever since when i was little. Sidney is my older cousin." Yvonne said.
"Wait, our mom didn't tell us because you're the only cousin?" Samuel said.
"Well you know, it happens when it runs with the family." Yvonne said.
"It stays in the family, Yvonne." Grace said.
"Look, i'm sorry for what happened about your mother & your brother." Terry said.
"Yeah. Thanks for telling us." Wendy said as she, Will, Fred, & Lexi heard what Terry said but in complete honest.
"I'm also sorry about what happened to your dad. You definitely know he's helped a lot of people, especially he's kind of a tough guy." Larry said.
"Thank you, my dad is a tough one & i love him so much but it's fine." Carrie said to Larry as she gets emotional when she gets tears in her eyes.
●Everybody is watching as the moment unfolds & the others are talking in the living room.
"Can you see that? That's kind of heartwarming." Joanna said.
"Yeah, i definitely could see that." Gabby said.
"Haven't you met these people before?" Elena asked.
"Yeah, we have met these people at the picnic table." Emily said.
"We met them & like Mindy said that we're all also suspects." Craig said.
"Well you said it's just a theory." Rory said.
"Yeah, i did said it was just a theory." Craig said.
"But Mindy & the others show up & saw us while we were there, talking about them." Malik said.
"So wait, these people have heard you guys talking about them about being suspects? That's kind of messed up." Dame said.
"Yeah, it sure is messed up." Susan said.
"We met these people earlier like the Hicks siblings & the Bishop twins Rebecca & Matthew." Kim said.
"Don't forget about that hunkalicious guy & his sexy girlfriend over there." Andrea said.
"Hey! That's my cousin that you talking about." Gabby said.
"I can't believe that she's talking about Liv over there." Chad said.
"She's also talking about you Chad." Fred said.
"Come on man, you know that Liv's my girlfriend." Chad said.
"Yeah, I figured that." Will said sarcastically.
"Will!" Sam & Jenny said.
"Fred!" Lexi & Wendy said.
"What?" Will & Fred said.
"What's going on with Andrea? Like she's on a sex drive?" Yvonne asked.
"Yvonne!" Grace said.
"What?" Yvonne asked.
"She always liked Chad & Liv." Jenny said.
"You guys are something else, like you always talking about each other when there's a killer is on the loose & you people attack my brother for no reason." Larry said.
"Well, you know better like that you're yelled at people who break into our house Larry. You all know that there are certain rules that one must abide by in order to successfully surviving a horror movie." Terry said.
"We already know Terry." Miranda said.
"Definitely noted." Cash said.
Wait, does Andrea loves men like Chad?" Elena asked.
"You know Andrea always thirsty for man." Joanna said.
"Don't forget about my cousin." Gabby said.
"Quote: she liked Chad & Liv." Malik said.
"Well, i didn't know that." Rory said.
"Yeah well, we know that Andrea liked Chad & Liv ever since they're here before we got here." Craig said.
●The girls argue about Liv McKenzie until she has shown up, asked them why they talked about her.
"I think she definitely heard you." Riley said to all the women that Liv shows up, heard them talking about her.
The ladies turned around & sees Liv McKenzie.
"Are you ladies talking about me?" Liv asked to the ladies.
"No." Emily said.
"Uh-Uh." Kim said.
"Absolutely not." Gracie said.
"Don't lie. I know you ladies talking about me especially you know how i look." Liv said as she laughs.
"Come on Liv, we wasn't mean to talk about you. Really, we didn't." Riley said.
"Yeah, we wasn't mean to talking about you, it was Andrea." Gabby said.
Gabby told her cousin Liv that Andrea who is hiding is the one who is talking about her. Liv turns around & see Andrea.
"So you're the one who has still talking about me." Liv said to Andrea.
Andrea tries to run to leave from the house but Liv grabs Andrea & tosses her to the floor & get her legs between Andrea & puts her arms down to the floor.
"How many times do i tell you to stop talking about me? Especially when i'm here." Liv said to Andrea.
"I weren't mean to. When you show up." Andrea said.
"Well the question is: Why are you still talking about me Andrea?" Liv asked.
"Because i liked you?" Andrea said as Liv laughed at her of what she's saying.
"Sweetie, you know i'm not a fan of girl-on-girl relationships & you know that i already have a boyfriend. But do you know what happens when you talking about me like that?" Liv said to Andrea as a warning.
"No. What?" Andrea asked.
Liv uses her thumb to start a straight line & tlit her head, signed that Andrea gets sliced in the throat if she talking about her again. Liv gets off of Andrea & leaves the house & still puts a middle finger on Chad who still shows up with anybody.
"I told you that you shouldn't talking about my cousin." Gabby said.
"Well, she attacked me like that." Andrea said to Gabby.
Riley helps Andrea, gets her up from the floor & said "Well you shouldn't have talking about Liv."
"Well she's definitely not that hot." Kim said.
"Hey!" Gabby said.
"She attacked me Riley for talking about her." Andrea said.
"Well you really shouldn't talk about her Andrea because she gets real pissed at you for that." Riley said.
"Do you have any great ideas?" Andrea asked.
"Yeah. You have to find love." Riley said.
"Yeah, i can do that." Andrea said.
"Andrea, you know that she's my girlfriend." Chad said.
"Listen Andrea, you can't do that at the house because at number 1: You can never have-" Terry said as he reasons with Andrea but Mindy stops him because he is still mimicking their uncle Randy.
"Stop mimicking our uncle Randy!" Mindy said to Terry.
"What?" Terry said.
"Watch out for the long-haired Mindy." Rory said as he whispered to Craig.
"Long-haired Mindy?" Craig whispered to Rory.
The boys said "Whoa!!"
Larry said "Yo! Yo! Yo! Yo!"
The boys reacted at Rory for what he said, Malik pat his head & then shakes his head, meaning Rory wasn't supposed to say about Mindy & Chad is looking serious & then said "Hey! That's my sister you talking about man."
"What?" Rory said.
"You talking about my sister's hair." Chad said.
"It's my only guess to call nicknames." Rory said.
"I heard that." Mindy said.
Rory looks at Mindy & said. "How do you know?"
"Because you talking about me, even you talking about my hair. My hair wasn't that long." Mindy said. "You also talking about my hair too Larry."
"What are exactly you talking about?" Larry asked.
"You know exactly what i'm talking about. You know the curls of my hair are not that huge." Mindy said.
"Well Mindy, it's looks like it almost look huge." Larry said.
"Well it wasn't. You better not say it either Terry." Mindy said.
"Well i'm wasn't going to say anything but don't mind Rory. He always does that a lot." Terry said.
"Dude, you weren't supposed to tell anybody." Rory said.
"Well you weren't supposed to talking about Mindy because she can hear you anytime." Terry said.
"Because you talking about my hair." Mindy said.
"It was just a nickname." Rory said.
"Hey!" Elena said as she punch him at the arm.
"Ow! What for?" Rory said as he robs his arm.
You always talk about the hair. Just stop talking about her hair." Elena said.
Trent wakes up, noticing that his nose is bleeding because he has a broken nose & Richard & Nicole gets him up, then everybody saw Trent wakes up & he's already hurt.
"Oh my God, Trent." Nicole said.
"Jesus, your nose." Richard said.
"Yeah, i know. That fucking hurts." Trent said.
"All right, get a first aid kit & get a new t-shirt for him. He's definitely gonna need it." Terry said. "Jesus Christ Chad, you definitely got him a broken nose."
"Well he just called me a jock." Chad said.
"Yeah we know that & look at this, there's drips of blood all over the floor." Larry said.
"Don't worry, we'll gets this blood clean up." Terry said.
"What do you use? A mop or something?" Will said.
"We got some premium mops & vacuums that we have been used like Bissell & stuff, we got a whole bunch of them in there." Terry said. "Oh, we haven't introduce ourselves."
●The people introduced themselves & Fred asked them to come to the party, they said "Yeah, we liked to come." Terry & Larry picks their selective friends, the others stayed in the house & watch the rest of the movie, they're going to Amber's house but Terry said "You guys go first." They all look at Mindy & she said "Very good." They all going first & Terry, Larry, & the others follow them.

Year One: At Home In the Dark masterlist
warnings for series: mentions of alcohol/being drunk, mentions of violence/blood imagery (with warnings for specific chapters), mentions of anxiety and depression symptoms (with warnings for specific chapters), swearing - please do not read if you may find any of this triggering and take care of yourself.
“The proverbial saying ‘All’s fair in love and war’ expresses the idea that, like war, where any strategy is accepted, affairs of the heart are also no-holds-barred contests.”
Chapter One:
“Your mission, should you choose to accept is-“
Groans fill the room and Rebecca Baxter rolls her eyes at everyone. An amber bottle pressed to her lips as she nudges his shoulder. A silent, ‘Can you believe them? They’re absolutely no fun.’
Zachary Goode snickers into his own beer, a silent response of ‘No, you’re just overly dramatic as usual and Cam has probably had too many glasses of wine for this.’
“Alright, alright, fine.” Bex waves her hands and to look at him fully. “Truth or Dare? Clock’s ticking Goode.”
Maybe it’s the way he hasn’t felt this light in a long time - maybe ever, that they’re all together again for it too. Summer evening wind blows at his hair that’s gotten a little too long. From their spot on the porch, he can hear the hum of crickets and cicadas, smell the familiar scent of leaves that are ready to turn for Autumn in the air. He doesn’t even have shoes on, he can’t remember the last time he didn’t feel the need to be ready to go. Or it could be the way his heart does this funny thing of swelling and aching in the same beat when Cam blows hair off of her cheek, giggling like she’s eighteen again as Liz pours more wine.
Or maybe he’s just drunk.
“Truth.”
Yeah, definitely just drunk.
The entire circle falls silent, cups and bottles half suspended to parted lips, laughter trails off as eyes widen. Every single one of them can hear each other’s heartbeats, the distinct ping of water from the faucet hitting ceramic inside and down the hall, and the ticking of the clock just inside the dining room.
Cammie sits up straighter, wiping at her lips. “What?”
Bex sits back against the porch column hard. Liz props up on her knees - clearly criss cross applesauce is too child’s play for what’s at stake here. Macey narrows her eyes at him from her spot on the couch above the other two girls as she tosses back the rest of her wine. Even Preston and Jonas look at him with furrows forming above their brows.
Jesus, they’re all so dramatic.
He rolls his eyes and turns to Bex. “You gonna ask me the question or not?”
“But you, you never pick-“ she looks around the group and he marks the date in his calendar. Rebecca Baxter has been rendered speechless and actually physically appears frazzled as she drums her fingers on her knees and looks at the stars. “I mean, what do I ask? I never thought I’d actually get the chance.”
Cammie narrows her eyes and points at him, “Ask him where he hid the M&M’s because I know he did.”
Zach grins, blowing her a kiss that she rolls her eyes at but smiles into her wine glass because of nonetheless.
Bex waves off the suggestion, not serious enough of course. She snaps her fingers and Macey moves to the edge of the couch cushion. “Oh! Private jet and the Russians!”
Bex counters, “Finland, embassy with the Duchess?”
Cammie laughs, “Idaho, potato farmer?”
Jonas shakes his head. “Nah, don’t waste it on that one, I have pictures.”
Zach makes a mental note about finding and deleting those, beginning to hum the jeopardy theme song. He’s definitely drunk, because he should have been noticing the one girl who was far too silent. He should have known that when Elizabeth Sutton is quiet, that means she’s thinking big things.
“What about when he fell in love with Cammie?” The question is calculated, lazy almost in her tone, but it catches him off guard and Liz is far to perceptive to let it slip. His eyes widened, pupils dilating. His breath changed just so, stuck in his throat. His heart rate increased. Damn stupid beer he was never drinking ever again.
The two men opposite him groan at the suggestion and the four women turn on him. Hawk eyes, lioness’ stalking their prey. He was done for the minute the question was suggested. He has one of two options as he sees it now. Lie his ass off to the room of people who know all of his tells or plead with the love of his life.
Zach shakes his head, staring directly at Cammie. “Cammie, no, please don’t make me talk about this in front of everyone? You hate attention, it’s complicated and-“
She hums into her wine glass interrupting him, “I dunno, Zach, I think high school Cammie really needs some answers. You messed with her head quite a bit.”
Shit, bad move. Should have lied right away - ‘I loved Cammie the minute I laid eyes on her in that DC mall. Truly love at first sight, I just had to figure out who that Gallagher Girl really was’ is not gonna cut it now, they’re far too hungry for juicy gossip like they’re back in school.
“We’re married!” He holds up his left hand to prove the point, grasping at anything to make this all go away. Zach gestures out the entrance of the porch, “Our children are asleep down the hall!”
Cam only levels him with a look he’s grown to know very well. It’s the look she gives the kids when they lie and say they brushed their teeth before bed. He’s busted.
Liz stands, the girl closing in on him until his back hits the porch railing. She nudges his chest as she speaks so threateningly for someone with ducks all over their pajama’s. “Spill, or I get the truth serum.”
“You know, I forget that you’re the scariest one of the bunch sometimes Lizzie,” he gulps as Jonas cackles from his spot on the ground.
The four girls simply raise their eyebrows, and he admits defeat. His hands lift to the air beside his head. “Okay, okay, but I need another beer for this.”
Giddy with their victory, everyone settles into comfortable positions, eager to not let him get away with anything but a good and long story.
Zach avoids the creak of the floorboard as he heads into the kitchen, listening intently for the sounds of his children stirring at all. His hip hits the fridge closed in just the right spot, pulling the opener from it’s drawer.
He looks at the fridge as he leans against the counter, a picture of him and Cam in front of Gallagher on the day of Rachel and Joe’s wedding held up by a hand painted magnet. Red splotchy paint covering the words ‘World’s Best Dad’ glazed and shiny from a kiln. It’s not that he doesn’t know when he fell in love with her, he does, it’s just not so simple.
The bottle cap pops off with a hiss, then a click of it hitting the counter. He watches the green metal spin, slowing as it gets closer to meeting the flat surface of the countertop.
“Goode!”
Zach snatches the copper coin he’d been spinning against the tabletop before it flattens and stands, hands held into fists behind his back at attention.
An armed guard with flushed cheeks and a forehead dappled with sweat marches towards him.
Oh swell, it’s Jeff.
At Blackthorne, any guard calling your name in that tone isn’t gonna be great, but Jeff has this way of spitting when he talks, of not realizing what the words personal space mean, and probably has never ever heard of breath mints and their miraculous powers to ward off coffee breath.
Zach’s fingers fiddle with the coin behind his back. He’s getting better about the whole restless energy and showing it thing, but he figures it’s not dire circumstances to be on his game right now. His mind wanders through the possibilities of what today could be about. One of his bedsheet corners wasn’t tight enough, someone found the little yellow package of chocolaty goodness in his sock, or perhaps Jeff didn’t get his coffee and donut this morning and he just feels like picking on someone.
The cafeteria grows more silent as everyone decides that the show that’s about to go down has got to be better than eating the mystery meat on their trays.
“Sir?” Zach questions, staring at the spot just above Jeff’s left ear. A thing Jeff positively hates, causing him to continuously look over his shoulder and wonder what the hell Zach is staring at - but a thing that fills Zach with a small amount of joy.
It’s the little things.
Jeff does just this, head whipping around so fast he’s surprised the man doesn’t give himself whiplash. Jeff’s gaze darts across the wall and back to Zach. Beady, narrowed eyes meet his, Zach’s lips twitch slightly, revealing too much - another thing he’s still working on. But Jeff is fairly harmless and hasn’t quite mastered the art of interpreting Zach’s smaller tells.
“Visitors,” Jeff snarls and Zach’s shoulders fall.
Fuck.
The room grows even more silent, the quiet din of metal silverware hitting their trays and cups hitting wood vanish completely now as the unmistakable red head of hair floats through the cafeteria towards him. Shoulders straighten, voices cease, and breaths are held with each click then clack of black pumps against the concrete floors.
His mother is here, and she’s brought friends.
“Hello darling, miss me?”
Catherine Goode commands attention, she just does. A room full of hormone crazed teenage boys was already going to be acutely aware of a woman wearing a black dress accentuating her curves walking amongst them, they were already going to stare, Zach knows this. But Catherine has something else, the strong voice of a soldier mixed with a soft femininity enveloping each word she speaks, making you think each word is somehow meant only for you. A perfect way to get what she wants that he’s seen in action enough times to know she’s mastered skillfully. Her loss ratio is zero, she has the control every time.
For everyone except her son.
“Can’t say that I have, Cat.” Zach presses the coin between his thumb and forefinger, the indent of Abraham Lincoln surely going to be preserved in his fingerprint forever. He knows it’s a shot in the dark. Sometimes she’s pleasantly surprised by his resistance, dare he say almost impressed. But most times, it ends poorly for him.
Catherine Goode’s eyes - his eyes - narrow, her playfulness disappearing with an art that Houdini would envy. “That’s no way to talk to your mother, Zachary. Let’s go. I have people I need to introduce you to and we have something important to discuss.”
She gestures to the men behind her as she speaks, before stepping closer. Her head dips - like a snake ready to attack. He visualizes it perfectly before it happens, a hand wraps around his bicep, squeezing. Not in a loving, motherly way, but in a warning - strike one. Her voice lowers as she hisses, “Behave,” while fingernails dig into his skin leaving small crescent moons. The snake is playing with it’s food before it tightens it’s coil and removes his oxygen.
“Yes, ma’am.” He grinds his teeth, jaw clenching as the toes of his boots tap together when he straightens to formal attention again.
She smiles, satisfied with his submission and pats his cheek a little too harshly before turning on her heels and clicking away. Her fingers curl behind her head as she walks. “Gentleman.” Then they waggle out to the faces of the cafeteria in a wave, “Boys.”
He hates that he ducks his head, that he follows her blindly. His gut twists as he counts the cracks in the concrete he already knows the number of, knowing that if he were to lift his head, his classmates - if you can even call them that - would be looking at him with eyes full of pity. Sometimes he envies the ones who have nothing, it has to be better than her. But then, it’s like she knows he’ll have a thought like this. She’ll do something almost nice, she’ll make him feel guilty. How dare he wish he didn’t have her, there were good times once upon a time right?
He shakes his head, no, this is what she wants. He simply follows, choosing to hold his chin up in defiance of any pity that he can feel hitting the back of his uniform as he walks out of the cafeteria.
The men she’s brought follow closely behind her. Suits. Not terribly expensive, they’re not big deals. One is slightly taller, a thick brown mustache. This man watches his mother with sharp blue eyes, he’s not fully under her spell it would seem. As Catherine smiles and gestures into a door, the man nods and enters. The slightly younger and shorter one gestures for Zach to enter first. He’s blonde, strong shoulders, with brown eyes that look at Zach in a way that makes him feel like he’s under a microscope. This man closes the door and stands in front of it and Zach would bet his next few meals that he was Secret Service.
Mustache man sits with a groan loudly in a chair as his mother leans up against a low bookshelf. A fairly empty classroom that wasn’t used much these days. While the weather was nice, it was strictly outside for use of the range, running drills, and perimeter and mountain trail runs. Classroom time was for the bitterly cold days that even the teachers and guards knew wasn’t worth making the boys get frostbite over. Catherine fiddles with a cup of pencils, a finger swiping over the top of the shelf and leaving a streak of clean wood in its wake as her mouth pinches in disgust.
Lovely place you send me to school, huh, mom?
“Well, Zach,” mustache man’s voice is gravely, it leads Zach to believe the man used to smoke. The fact mingles with the face in his brain, a connection trying to surface to the forefront of it. Mustache man continues while holding his hand up at a height not too tall, “You’ve grown! You weren’t more than ye high last time I saw you I think.”
Zach’s always hated this greeting. What was a person supposed to say back to that? Thank you? That’s how time and puberty works? That’s what happens when you get three meals a day and stop wondering when the next one will be?
He mashes his lips together in a thin smile with a nod. He’s pretty sure that was a better move than opening it and saying any of that.
The man looks to Secret Service man and then his mother before giving another nod. “Right, well, you must be wondering what we’re here for.”
No, I love being humiliated by my mother in front of groups of people and then following her and two strangers into a dusty classroom to sit in silence, dude. I live for it, it’s my shit.
Again, not saying that, so he remains silent. Mustache man claps his hands together, looking to his mother for further instruction so it would seem. She smiles at Zach, her salesman one - the one he knows she pulls out when she really wants her way.
“Darling, these men, they have a proposition for you. A mission.”
He stands up a little straighter, unable to help himself at the word mission. A real mission? Involving his mother? The men furrow their brows slightly as Catherine continues and his apprehension and curiosity fight bay-blades style in his head - whirling around and knocking edges, unsure of who’s going to pull out in the lead just yet.
“They need some information. Some information that they think only you may be able to get for them.”
Zach waits, knowing his mother is just getting started. She’s setting a trap, complimenting him, loosening some stones in his closed off exterior, weakening it until it’s ready for a final strike. He rolls the grooved edge of the coin between his thumb and forefinger.
Catherine walks along the wall, her hands clasped behind her back. Her heels click against the tile, gaze lost on the tattered map hung on the wall. She leans in, feigning inspection as she speaks again. Her tone somehow lazy but dripping with an authoritative quality that when combined, made you lean in and feel the need to listen carefully. “As you’ve most likely come to know in your training, it’s important, in some missions, to get close to a subject. To have a relationship with them, to make them an asset.”
The mustached man cut in, “An asset is-“
“A person within organizations who provide information to outside sources. Yeah, I know.”
“Zachary.”
Warning number two, he won’t be given a third.
Silence fills the room again at her sharp use of his name. Zach’s head bows and the other two men focus on her - it’s her happy place, he knows this. She controls the room, two grown men with their entire attention fully on her and her son’s submission, she’d bask in it like it was the sun on the beach for hours if she had the time.
Zach begins to flip the coin, impatient for the details of how this all affects him, what exactly it is he’s being asked here. He watches the coin arc in the air and land in his hand several times, waiting for her big finish.
Her slender and skilled fingers intercept the coin on his next toss. Her green eyes hold his and this time, even he can’t deny them as she delivers his very first official mission.
“We need you to get some information from Joe.”
