Theory Time Theory Time!
So with the newest trailer for Sonic X Shadow Generations, I feel like I can confidently say who all of the bosses will be.
To start, the base version of Sonic Generations had 7 boss battles, 3 big bosses (being the Death Egg Robot, Perfect Chaos, and the Egg Dragoon), 3 rival battles (being Classic Metal Sonic, Shadow, and Silver), and the final boss (the Time Eater). For the sake of this theory we're going to assume that Shadow Generations will follow this formula too.
Adding on, all of the bosses that will be presented in this theory will have some form of connection to Shadow, meaning that any bosses that Shadow has not interacted with, even if the boss is popular, will not appear.
And lastly, each of the bosses must have appeared within the game where the stage has originated. Here are all of the stages that have been confirmed as of the Doom Powers trailer.
Radical Highway (Sonic Adventure 2)
Final Chase/Rush (Sonic Adventure 2)
Bullet Station (Sonic Heroes)
Westopolis (Shadow the Hedgehog)
Kingdom Valley (Sonic 06)
Sunset Heights/Park Avenue/Ghost Town/Enemy Territory/City/idk pick a name (Sonic Forces)
Chaos Island (Sonic Frontiers)
Getting the obvious out of the way, we have our 2 confirmed bosses, being the Biolizard and Metal Overlord.
The connection between the Biolizard and Shadow is a no brainer so I won't talk about it, however Metal Overlord is interesting and may be deeper than what most people think.
Bullet Station being the featured stage of Sonic Heroes, and what happens in at the end of Bullet Station?
We find a Shadow Android (followed by Neo Metal Sonic copying Shadow's data). Seeing that Android leads to a currently amnesiac Shadow to question his identity and if he is a clone. And who pray tell was the first one to propagate the misinformation?
Neo Metal Sonic. Even if Eggman himself kept the charade going, Neo Metal Sonic (and by extension Metal Overlord) was the one who started the doubt. By fighting Metal Overlord, Shadow can confidently say that he was wrong about who Shadow is, and the only robotic copy around is the one in front of him.
Deciding who the last big boss has been a toughie, and while there is the obvious, I'll be saving that one for the end. Who do I believe is the best candidate then?
The Knight from Sonic Frontiers. Admittedly this one is more of a stretch, however with the given stages we are shown our pool of potential bosses is slim, but that doesn't mean there isn't a connection. In Sonic Frontiers, the Ancients have fled their home planet and landed on Earth with the Chaos Emeralds. With Shadow being both part alien and having chaos abilites, it's not so far fetched. But here's the kicker.
Gerald has visited Angel Island in the past, along with actually seeing the Master Emerald. And what are heavily connected to the Master Emerald that our Ancient friends have brought? Now everything's coming together. So why the Knight in particular? Mainly because it's on Chaos Island where the fight originally took place. But really any of Sonic Frontiers' main bosses would fit.
Now onto the rival battles! Starting with an easy pick, MEMPHIS TENNESSEE Mephilies.
Despite being erased from existence, Mephiles has played a huge role with helping Shadow assert his identity, choosing to forever protect the world even if it turns against him. And with the Time Eater's shenanigans bringing back Crisis City bringing back the erased God wouldn't be impossible.
Not to mention Kingdom Valley is actually where Shadow first met Mephiles in his campaign, the God using Shadow's shadow as a base for the we all know him as.
The second rival battle I believe will happen is everyone's favorite weakling, Infinite.
Given that Sonic Forces is being represented, the character whose whole identity and image have been shattered by the hedgehog makes sense showing up. Although this leads me to ask, why is Sunset Heights in particular the one that's being represented?
Well, that's where the Shadow Clone appears of course.
This is where we learn that Shadow wasn't a bad guy again and was merely being copied by the Phantom Ruby. Perhaps as an intro cutscene to the fight we could have Shadow see his clone doing bad things, with Black Doom taunting him about his inevitable fate of a creature of destruction, before revealing that it was one of Infinite's clones. Shadow would then fight the creator of the clones as an affirmation of who he is.
Now for the final rival battle, I have two options. The one that will most likely happen, and the one I want to happen. The first option is Emerl the Gizoid.
The Dark Beginnings prologue features Emerl, an ancient robot of destruction who Gerald later rediscovers and creates a soul for it based off of Maria. As the prologue shows, Shadow was there during Emerl's rehabilitation and fights him in Sonic Battle. If what shown in the prologue actually happened on the Ark and is not some sort of hallucination, then this rival battle will show the beginnings of Shadow's good hearted nature as he protects Gerald on behalf of Maria.
Despite there being no Sonic battle stages, the fight itself will most likely be apart of the Space Coloney Arc as shown in the prologue.
However, there is one rival battle I really want to happen. Sonic The Hedgehog.
In Sonic Generations we fought Shadow, so how about we fight Sonic in Shadow Generations? However this time it won't be on the Ark, nonono. Instead, it will be on Prison Island.
Faker rematch time! Bonus points if they redub the beginning cutscene to that fight. Plus, with Shadow Generations taking advantage of the fact the fights can take place in a 3D place (as shown in the Biolizard fight), we could be fighting Sonic in an arena instead of the race in Sonic Generations. Now why do I want the Prison Island fight in particular?
Prison Island is where Shadow does his first truly good thing after reawakening from status. Saving Rouge. While claiming it's for the emeralds, deep down he's a good person at heart, he's just so blinded by rage at this point.
With all the possible bosses listened, there's an interesting theme going on, that being Shadow's identity. With Emerl, Shadow wants to save those he cares for. With Sonic, Shadow proves that he is a good person suffering through grief. With the Biolizard, Shadow recognizes what Maria's wish truly was and defies his creator to see it through. With Metal Overlord, Shadow has seeds planted in his mind wondering if he's an Android. With Mephiles, Shadow asserts that he will always fight even if others don't believe in him. With Infinite, Shadow sees that his future self will never turn to villainy again. With the Knight, Shadow will learn more about his origins.
All of these bosses are connected to Shadow's identity, and who pray tell wants to mess with's Shadow's identity the most?
THE DEVIL FROM THE BIBLE
Black Doom.
All throughout Shadow the Hedgehog he's been gaslighting Shadow into joining his side for his own gain, manipulating the hedgehog with promises of showing him his past that he cannot remember, trying to make Shadow something he's not.
It is my firm belief that we will not be fighting the Time Eater as the final boss, Sonic's got that covered. Instead the final boss will be Devil Doom.
It's the final boss of the hit game Shadow the Hedgehog TM, how can you NOT including him as the final boss of essentially Shadow the Hedgehog 2?
After so long since defeating Black Doom, Shadow has grown and reaffirmed who he, and he's not gonna let dear old dad dictate his life again.
Well that got a bit fanficy at the end! Jokes aside, I hope you enjoy my speculation on who the bosses are and what the potential story could be!
#now to wait two months to see if im wrong :)#as a side note i think it's hysterical that we got foreshadowing about Black Doom's survival in a twitter takeover of all things#sonic x shadow generations#shadow the hedgehog#biolizard#neo metal sonic#metal overlord#the knight#mephiles the dark#infinite the jackal#emerl the gizoid#sonic the hedgehog#black doom

i need like a basic plot summary of silvers story in 06 do u have anything similar on hand or would it just be better to watch a cutscene compilation
I would recommend watching a cutscene compilation, but if you don’t want to then I can give a good summary right here
So it begins with Silver and Blaze making their way over to Iblis so they can fight him. After temporarily killing him, Silver gets frustrated and asks what the point of doing this is if he’ll never stay dead, at which point Mephiles shows up and tells them he has a solution. He explains that Iblis was released by Sonic 200 years ago, and warps the two back to the past with the objective of killing him. Silver winds up in the jungle while Blaze gets sent to the beach, so he’s on his own when he spots Sonic from a rooftop. Amy shows up out of nowhere before he can move, having mistaken Silver for Sonic, and distracts him long enough for the real one to get away. After the two realize they’re both looking for someone, Silver offers to help Amy find Sonic first, not knowing that he’s the person Mephiles tasked him to kill since he only knows his appearance. While going around town, Silver spots Sonic with Elise and immediately runs to attack him. Elise gets captured by Eggman during the scuffle, and Silver is only prevented from killing a defeated Sonic by Amy stepping in between them. Having been shaken up by how vehemently she denied Sonic causing harm to the world, Silver begins to doubt if what he’s doing is right, and sits by the ocean until Blaze finds him. She responds to his worries by telling him that whether it’s right or wrong, it’s what they need to do to save the future. They go to Eggman’s base in White Acropolis to track him down again, but he’s not there. Silver does get a Chaos Emerald, though. He then manages to successfully ambush Sonic at Radical Train, but is interrupted by Shadow. After being beaten by him, Silver sees him using Chaos Control and performs it himself, resulting in the two accidentally using it at the same time and creating a portal to the past. Stepping inside, they’re transported to the day where Mephiles and Iblis were formed from an experiment. Shadow chases after Mephiles while Silver chases Iblis, resulting in him witnessing the Duke sealing Iblis inside of a young, unconscious Elise with a Chaos Emerald. Silver takes this one too, and carries Elise the rest of the way outside, handing her the Chaos Emerald from White Acropolis as a lucky charm before leaving. Now realizing the truth of everything, he rushes to Kingdom Valley to help Sonic rescue Elise from the Egg Carrier, but they end up being too late and watch her die. Silver suggests the idea of traveling back in time to get a second chance at saving her, which is what Sonic does. He hands Silver his Chaos Emerald before going through the portal, and then him and Blaze return to their future. He did this because he now knows that sealing Iblis can permanently defeat him, meaning he doesn’t even need the past to be changed to save his world. Silver and Blaze rush over for one final showdown, defeating him and reverting him to his base form, allowing him to be sealed away. However, Iblis will not accept Silver as his vessel, resulting in Blaze taking the emeralds from him and sealing Iblis in herself. Though she was successful, it’s clear that she’s struggling to keep him contained, so she asks Silver to seal her away in another dimension to keep the world safe. He refuses, and ultimately she has to do it herself. Silver watches helplessly as Blaze ascends into the sky and disappears into nothingness. The sky clears as Iblis’ influence leaves the world, and Silver is left standing alone on the cliff where the battle took place

ECOATM — S-T (Great Corner Sound)
Detroit invented techno in the 1980s and 1990s, fusing the android-synth propulsion of Kraftwerk to the hedonistic excesses of disco and Chicago house. In the years since, machine-tooled electronics have continued to flourish and bleed into other genres in the Wolverine State (see the Dirtbombs’ fabulous covers album, Party Store, reviewed here by Emerson Dameron).Much fertile ground, then, lays open for Dr. Pete Larson’s new Michigan-centric electronic imprint Great Corner Sound to explore. This opening salvo from ECOATM is a very good start.
Great Corner Sound is somewhat cagey about exactly who is involved in ECOATM, though Larson has hinted (broadly, see photo above) that Michigan all-arounder Fred Thomas (of His Name Is Alive, Saturday Looks Good to Me, Tyvek, Idle Ray, Winged Wheel, etc.)is the man behind the curtain. If so, it’s a radically new look for him.ECOATM doesn’t sound like any of his previous bands.
The disc starts with skittery “Deluge,” an antic skirmish of drums and synthesizer that erupts periodically into full-on battery. It moves quickly and lightly, rattle-stomping barrages of terse snare and cymbals like gloves on a speed bag.“Stimulus Check” leaves more negative space between its thumps and rattles, an altered voice popping up on off-beats like a stuttery ghost. You can feel a drummer’s sensibility (again, maybe Thomas, maybe not) in the way these cuts box up time in tight, inelastic packages, a music made of points and vacancies, no colors.
Yet not everything is a rush and a clatter. Some of these cuts run surprisingly lyrical, with long echoing synth tones that sculpt otherworldly shapes in the air.“Glass Yard,” for instance, flickers and glows, nearly rhythmless as its bright notes blink on and off. “Dawnless” moves ponderously, a big drum boom punctuating the end of glittering glass-bead guitar lines. And “As You Said” floats in a percolating unreal synth space, the thump of kickdrum anchoring airy iterations of keyboard motifs.
It's all pretty good, surgically scrubbed but not unwelcoming, the kind of clean well-lighted sonic space that invites cogitation rather than bodily motion.Whoever made it (maybe Fred Thomas!) was from Michigan, continuing a mighty tradition of electronic experiment.Roll on Motor City.

Played most of Sonic Unleashed for the first time recently.
Genuinely one of my favorite Sonic games. Favorite games in general even. The 3D level design in the Day stages is some of my favorite in the whole series. Not a single main stage I dislike.
The Werehog is an interesting take on the gameplay, and I appreciate what they were going for here, and also realize that something like the Werehog is mechanically necessary, since it's kind of impossible to market and sell a Triple AAA game that would be like, 2 hours at most if the Werehog wasn't there. Also, it is kind of fun to experience a gameplay style that contrasts so much, a slower puzzle platformer that still keeps with what Sonic's about, while having a fairly fun beat-em-up gameplay style to boot. Of course this pales in quality to the Day stages, but that's kind of what it's meant to do in a way. It feels like the entire team KNEW the Day stages exist at the peak of what Sonic the Hedgehog is. It gets to a point where I can get an S Rank on the level, and then play it again just for the fun of it, because this is some of the most fun I've had in a video game period. The changes in routes that happen at light speed, the intelligent emphasis on high-stakes to keep your run engaging, while making it all the more satisfying when it goes smoothly, and just like. Everything about it. Wow.
Also. This game honestly has a Final Level that puts most of every other Sonic game to shame. Nothing against things like Sonic Adventure 2's Final Rush, or Shadow Generation's Radical Highway, but really, they pale in comparison, in my eyes, to the apex that is Eggmanland. Eggmanland feels so brilliant to me because it by all means, feels like a burst of excitement like no other, excitement that they finally get to create Eggmanland, after teasing it for so long, after having it's construction a main motivation for Dr Robotnik ever since right around his first inception, has finally been created, and it lives up to that buildup and more. A level that combines all of Unleashed's gameplay styles into one in a beautiful way, all in a Dystopian Theme Park/City hybrid, which is so big it takes up most of the space on the small continent Dr. Eggman took as his own. The music, just like all of Unleashed music, is perfectly fit for the stage, and is just such an incredible music composition, with both the Day and Night themes shouting at you that this is the end of this game, a grueling romp through Eggman's cartoonish dystopia that is Eggmanland. It fucking rocks.
Genuinely this game is so fucking good. Always wanted to play it ever since Sonic X Shadow Generations got me fully back into Sonic, and by god does it deliver...
Even if the biggest issue to this game is the pacing issue the medals present, it kind of ends up feeling insignificant once your at the final act, because Jungle Joyride into Eggmanland is probably one of the strongest one-two punches I've seen a Sonic game do. Hell, games in general. Also, the Werehog does have some things that undercut some sauce he could have, I feel like the lock-on range for platforms is a bit too narrow, and he should be able to lock onto platforms after an attack, to give more cool movement/skipping opportunities that have always been a huge part of Sonic's identity. Either way, it does very well for what it is, and is a nice side-dish that complements the main course, a main course which is one of the best I've ever tasted. Fantastic game.

Good evening dear Blue :D
For the ask game
❤️ 🧡 💖 💀
(with the sonic media ofc)
Good evening!🍀
❤: Which character do you think is the most egregiously mischaracterized by the fandom? (I think it is this one but on my laptop the heart is blacked out, but when I copy-paste it it becomes the red heart... confusing🤔😂)
I think as a whole it'd be Shadow, though for me, Silver is far more personally relevant, haha. But Shadow seems to be a difficult character to get down, because he's got so much going on with him in canon. In fanon materials, I'd say that he often either becomes a raging jerk or he becomes very soft, cuddly, gentle and suave with Sonic for tons of Sonadow fics, and though the first description fits him somewhat better, he's... well, neither, I'd say. And Silver of course gets uwu blorbified to hell and back, rip. But since Shadow is far more popular than Silver, I'd say he suffers the worst of it.
🧡: What is a popular (serious) theory you disagree with?
This is gonna be a very unpopular take, but the "Sonic has ADHD" theory doesn't sit well with me if the follow-up is "and that means he can never sit still, is infantile, doesn't listen to others, doesn't value his friends, can never take anything seriously, and is an insensitive unemphatic jerk". If I look at the Sonic in Adventure 1, Rush, or Black Knight, I see someone who is incredibly well-attuned to others' feelings and who knows what to say and do to radically change people's worldviews for the better. Plus, Sonic knows when to focus on adventures and when he has to get serious: I cannot recall a canon instance where he is bouncing around absolutely out of control with no regard for others, for example. And if something goes wrong through his actions (e.g. Lost World), he's trying his absolute hardest to make it right again. So I'm not really sure where the idea that Sonic needs to learn the power of friendship or is super hyperactive and never listens comes from.
💖: What is your biggest unpopular opinion about the series?
Oof. I guess that I really don't like the direction things are going in, maybe? That is to say, I haven't felt particularly inclined to engage with new materials so much because they don't grab my attention in the slightest: I'll get SxSG when it releases, but I'm going in basically completely blind because I'm not interested in theorising about what could happen. Plus, I haven't watched a single TailsTube episode, nor have I played Superstars. And I also couldn't care less about the third movie, to be quite honest😅 I don't know; I'm happy to do my own thing in my own corner with Espio and Silver, but I do feel sad that the new materials we're getting don't resonate with me so much. I wonder how that's going to change in the future.
💀: If you had to choose one major character to die, who would you choose?
...Knuckles XD XD Between the main quartet plus Eggman, I simply care about him least, haha. Though, does Metal Sonic count as a major character? I've got plenty of characters I don't care about (Big, Cream, the Babylon Rogues), but I don't feel like they're present enough to be major characters. Metal is cool, but I have even less opinions on and feelings about him than I do Knux, so... XD

Talking about my musical choices for Splatoon 4 and what I wanted for the next game in this franchise
General context:
The music from Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 in multiplayer:
An undeniable fact is that Splatoon would probably be better off in the hands of SEGA directors, taking into consideration Jet Set Radio and most of the Sonic games, just seeing the soundtrack of both games that fit into Multiplayer and Story Mode, since Rock with Sonic Adventure to Jazz punk and acoustic instruments with Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Colors, or even more ambient music and the totally surreal sounds of Hero Mode, with Hideki Naganuma's Sounds in Jet Set Radio. Even more so, the urban culture theme of Jet Set Radio would be perfect for Splatoon 4, as this is not as well explored and seen in Splatoon 2
Pizza Tower Soundtrack:
In addition to the Goofy sounds and good rhythms, a sound like "Bye Bye There" being the final farewell to humanity and to Splatoon 1 itself would be ideal to replace the same massive plot of Idol songs played at every holy end of the game. The Noise Update Soundtrack for Salmon Run fits Salmonids' Spicy Little Gremlins personality, perhaps "World WIde Noise" would be a great theme for Salmonlings if we get that one day
Jet Set Radio/Bomb Rush Cyberfunk in Hero Mode:
"The Concept Of Love" is a good choice to be in the style of "Shark Bytes" and "Hide and Sleek" but much more punk, "Sneakman", "Fly Like A Butterfly" and "Teknopathetic" are good to play in confrontations against Rival Octolings (Although I wanted more of Inklings and Octolings in general, without the cliche of Rival Octoling Hair, which would be good to have available as available hair for an Octoling), and some separate aspects as something for more nocturnal activities , like "watchyaback!" and "Electric Tooth Brush", something in the style of "Nine Out Of Tension" and "Tentacular Circus", as well as "Right There, Ride On", sounds for stages with a focus on Ink Rails being something like "Ride Of Fry", as well as "Feel The Funk", and other specific things
Most memorable areas:
Some songs from Sonic CD I included because I wanted more memorable areas, this would serve to make the hero mode more memorable, just like Sonic was a classic era, it would bring more memories to those who play the game, that's why songs like "Metallic Madness" or "Spring Yard", something that was variable where each sector has its specific challenges and its focus that could vary between puzzles, speed, quick thinking or just stopping to appreciate the level design
Agent 4 and his "Endless Possibilities" :
Most people are probably thirsty for Agent 4 in the next Splatoon, I'm the type who compares Agent 3 with Shadow, so such an emotional sound for a final battle like "Endless Possibilities" would be perfect for a face-to-face fight against Agent 4, especially considering what this song is about
The Idols of the next game:
I thought a lot about a group of 4 idols, to finally be able to put at least two men to break the standard of women, in addition to putting more songs from that party atmosphere with Funky rhythm like something like "Soda City Funk" and "Next To Me " as the main theme, in addition to electronic breakbeat rhythms from Hideki Naganuma for Turf Wars such as "GET ENUF" and "Never 4ever", or even classic video montage types. EXE" such as "YO-KAI Disco" and " Radical City: Living In The City" (by the way, Sonic R's OST would be a good inspiration as it is this fast and energetic House Music). My choices come from the fact that I wanted an aesthetic that ranges from POP of the 90s and EDM of the 2000s, with its members inspired by classics from those times.
Bands in general:
We would probably have a continuation of Punk Rock, but I would prefer something more Industrial Rock, a style of music more like "Boarder 70" and "Rhythm and Balance... for White Jungle". There could be exploration of genres such as Breakbeat with acoustic Jazz instruments, such as "Windmill Isle" and "Sweet Mountain", Big Band as in the Team Fortress 2 OST but more similar to the community remixes. The band "Chirpy Chips" could adopt a style from Scott Pilgrim's OST or HI-FI Rush, and could expand these genres to remix the already famous songs in Splatoon
...if I have the option to have Octoling Rival Hair, I'll be happy enough

Replayed Sonic Generations 3DS recently (I'm binging Sonic games, but forcing myself not to play the HD Generations, so I can enjoy it when SXSG releases) and by GAWD, I think it has some of the most missed potential in the series, more so than even Forces
The idea of Generations 3DS having its own level roster is great, but it was handled abysmally. All we get are basically the second picks of the Classic and Adventure Era, including Radical Highway, a stage Sonic doesn't even play through in SA2.
The Modern Era is the closest this game gets to being good, with Water Palace from Sonic Rush, and Tropical Resort from Colours, specifically the DS version. But that's it, that's the closest we get to handheld representation, in a game that was supposedly going to be a tribute to handheld Sonic, but barely scratches the surface of that idea.
Oh, and the bosses are even messier. Big Arm was cool, but Biolizard isn't even a Sonic fight, it was Shadow's fight, and Egg Emperor is just tossed into the Modern Era for no reason. Plus, the rival fights are just discount Sonic Rivals on the PSP, reusing the assets of the main stages instead of the locales they were fought in previously.
The lack of handheld representation is what really stings, though. We could've had Game Gear stages, Advance stages, a stage from Rush Adventure to complete the Rush trilogy, maybe use Rivals stages for the Rival fights... it really stings that such a thing probably won't happen officially.
Though at the very least, Shadow Generations has been showing off a whole bunch of new returning zones, which is all I could possibly want!

Asking this bc I'm an 06 enjoyer...
favorite 06 levels? 😀
Well, I never played '06, so I'm going with vibes and what I remember from playthroughs that are not Something Awful's and the Game Grumps' lol
Flame Core: Crisis City might be the cooler level, but it's a shame it overshadows its little sibling lol. I get the feeling Generations' version of CC takes some inspiration in the platforming department from this level. Also c'mon, Sonic gleefully yeeting himself in the volcano is just funny lol. And may I add this absolute banger <3
Aquatic Base: it seems that people struggle with some parts of this level (the big ball lol), but conceptually, this is an amazing take on the "last level is a laboratory" trope - it's not Eggman's, but hey. It's cold, aseptic, but almost peaceful - also thanks to the brilliant music, perfect for a place with such a dark secret. Underwater bases are generally underrated, the only other example being Ocean Base.
Dusty Desert (Sonic): once you get used to the new, slower controls and the idea that sand will instakill you, this is another level with some tight level design and a beautiful aesthetic. It seems fun to speedrun! (sadly it's specifically Sonic's version, because the interior of the pyramid is... not good)
Wave Ocean (Blaze): Blaze looks hella fun to play with lol
Shout out to Radical Train, which has some cool concepts with all three characters (and again the boppy music, yes this is my favorite OST in the series), what with having to rush the clock to pursue Eggman or Silver's platforming, but ehhh I can tell the Mach Speed sections are hell. Same with Kingdom Valley, the flagship of the game: aesthetically is immaculate, but the level looks just a tad too long and it has another MS section.
#sonic the hedgehog#sonic 06#my answer doesn't amount to much lol but there you go#i can't even play project '06 on my old laptop unless i make the game look 8 bit lol

oooh i knew i wasnt the only one who preffered many aspects of sonic adventure 1 over 2 ! i love both games even with their flaws but i think the first one aged a bit better
God, the hub world is a bit clunky but it’s SO charming and i really miss it in the second game. I really wish they’d just fleshed it out and streamlined it a bit (getting the fucking elemental stones is really awkward).
I do prefer the really REALLY good sonic stages in adventure 2? Like i will take a radical highway and a city escape over most of the sonic stages stages in adventure 1 but the competition is still pretty stiff on that front.
But for the non-sonic gameplay i will take adventure 1 over anything else any day. The tails stages are fun and make some of the more annoying sections of sonic’s stages very fun to skip. The amy and knuckles stages are a fun change of pace that don’t overstay their welcome, the omega gameplay is fun and quick and i like his boss fights. Big the cat’s stuff is clunky but, again, only three stages. Doesn’t overstay its welcome.
Getting hit with a knuckles stage in sonic adventure two is like being sent to a fucking prison to be tortured. I spent like a fucking HOUR climbing around that fucking mine and i hate pumpkin hill and i hate that fucking space stage. The tails and eggman stages are like a more mid version of gamma, they just feel a bit too slow and long by comparison. I basically never replayed them when i was trying to grind out shit for the chao garden which i didn’t even get that far into.
Also i’ll say it the sonic adventure 1 story is really elaborate and fun with all its different interpretations of events and intertwined storylines and even though shadow is a camp queen i think the first game really does still hold up. I just find it has a bit more playful stuff to sink your teeth into that the second game lacks, even though i do love the drama of adventure 2.
This is all very much coming from someone who only really got into sonic games recently, the only games i played as a kid were the sonic rush games
#i wanted to play sonic heroes but it’s really hard for me to get into#the fucking pinball stage… loathesome

(82) Sonic X Shadow Generations
The best 3D sonic game easily. Shadow controls perfectly and I hope they keep it like this for future games. The levels are so well designed. The amount of secret paths is insane. It feels on the same level as the original game. Radical Highway Act 1 is easily the best-designed sonic level since… Jeez Seaside Hill Act 2 in Generations.
And then the story is… honestly alright! It’s a bit rushed, but it was really good overall! I love the conversations with all the NPCs throughout the game. Big the Cat has canonically met Elise and that’s really funny. Also, Gerald’s journal is amazing. There is so much juicy info about the series lore in there.
Shadow Generations is so good that you kinda forget it’s an add-on to a preexisting game. The changes in the base game were odd. They added the drop dash to both Classic Sonic AND Modern Sonic. Classic Sonic’s drop dash works as you expect, but it’s a skill for some reason. So you can’t use it for the majority of the game…. Which makes me wonder why they even bothered including it. That’s a trend for a lot of the changes.
Modern Sonic’s drop-dash is weird. Most of the time it’s not useful, but I like using it in 2D sections if I ever run out of boost. It’s also part of the entire moveset instead of a skill so I’m actually encouraged to use it.
And then there’s the story rewrite. The changes are minimal, it just ties Generations better to the rest of the series. “Without the time stones,” was the only line change that felt forced and cringe lmao. Honestly, I’m more confused about why they even bothered doing the rewrite. It’s not like it had much of a plot in the first place. It feels a bit unneeded.
No other changes were made so sadly Planet Wisp still sucks and the Time Eater is still garbage. They really missed the opportunity to at least try to rework the Time Eater. Maybe they could’ve made it more like the 3DS version of the fight, which is actually pretty okay.
Overall the game is fantastic. Two of the best Sonic games are here and I’m so excited to see where the series goes next. I need a full shadow game in the future.
