hello i have turned the princess from pmh into a magical girl-esque inspired design. it came to me in a vision and i was Compelled.

pluck my heartstrings and the princess's original design are by @pluck-heartstrings

iiiiii dont really know how i feel about this one rn tbh . all i can really see rn are the errors but 💀💀 i dont think its dogshit but its hitting some part of my brain thats like "hey dawg. what is that." here are the closeups ,,,,, im really happy w the hand that you can see the full back of. i kinda like the sketch more, but hey what artist doesnt feel that way about their work.

i had three intial sketches when brainstorming for the final of this; my friends told me to do the fullbody one because they really liked it, and after sleeping on it i went with that. however i am a big fan of the olive green sketch and i dont know yet if im going to repurpose that for either another princess drawing or something else entirely

hhhhhhhhere is the design in full (both shaded and unshaded). i was originally going to just leave it at that, doodling a design and leaving it be, but i really wanted to try a full illust of it so . thats how we got here. you can see some bits changed in the final piece but it stayed relatively the same. the ribbons flowing in the back arent connected to anything, except that front chest gem. that design bit is inspired by kokomi from genshin impact.

this is the first piece ive really used reference collages for; but i find that it really did help me with the process, ESPECIALLY with the posing refs for the final. it allowed me to have all the poses i thought were cool in one place so i could attempt to smash them together several times without having to flip between 6 images constantly. i would . reccommend it !

during the 19th century entire families lived in the tiny back cabins of narrowboats on the british canal system, hauling goods from town to town. they had a hard nomadic lifestyle, and experienced exclusion from on-shore society. due to this, an entire folk culture, with its own crafts, formed. narrowboats were painted in bright traditional patterns, in a style known as roses and castles, and the interiors were full of crocheted lace and polished copper. men wore wide, bright crocheted belts to spread weight when hauling boats with ropes, and women often wore elaborate frilled bonnets that both acted as a point of personal pride and practical shade from the sun for an outdoor existence - these became black after the death of queen victoria in 1901. much has been said about the similarity between traditional english narrowboats and roma vardos, but as far as we know there's not much historical crossover.

Hot take

Sanji isn’t actually attracted to Nami and Robin. Nor is he madly in love to most women he sees. Attracted to them? Sure. But most of the actions he displays are for attention.

Sanji, to me, is the type of person that believes he is only as useful as what he can provide. He fawns over women because he believes they deserve to be fawned over. He also desires praise and affection from women because he’s lonely and has low self-esteem.

Admittedly I haven’t seen Whole Cake Island yet so I don’t know all of it, but I know the parts about him being bullied and losing his mother.

A lot of this has to do with the lack of emotional warmth from the crew of the Baratie too. I’m not saying that Zeff was a bad father/teacher, but you see in the Baratie arc that he was constantly demeaned by Zeff as his way of teaching him. Zeff’s way of getting him to leave was telling him that his dish sucked. And Sanji was so hurt by that he jumped off to be alone.

In Thriller Bark, while not my favorite, it does have Sanji saving Nami from Abs*l*m and he doesn’t even make a stupid joke about “I should be the only one to marry Nami” he just gets pissed that the pervert would do something like this at all. And comments on how beautiful she looks. That doesn’t scream someone who has the same personality Sanji portrays himself to have.

Not to say that Sanji isn’t a perv, he absolutely is, despite how I like to believe certain things as non-cannon and just the writers being “funny”. (Like his dream being to eat the Clear-Clear fruit to watch women bathe? Wtf was Oda thinking when he wrote that. Like… I’m so sorry Sanji bbg you deserve better writing.)

He does like the ladies, and likes it even more when *ladies like him*. He buckles under any form of praise a woman gives him, even if they are his enemy. Even if he’s not attracted to them, like how he danced with Granny Kokoro in Water 7, he could have avoided her, but that was just some platonic fun. Not to mention he is really sweet to kids (ex; Chimney.)

Speaking of Water 7, I distinctly remember Sanji literally asking Nami some sort of equivalent of “DIDN’T I DO A GOOD JOB NAMI-SWANNNN~~?”

It’s no secret that he treats men very differently than he treats women, but he does care for his crew deeply. He just doesn’t trust men due to his past. And, as far as he’s concerned, the only reason men exist is to protect and serve women.

He only desires praise and affection god damn it. Someone Hug him.
