YAYY yes hi blood murder violents for the women <3 Fabby and Solaris don't get to fight together side by side that often (considering their areas of expertise isn't hand-to-hand combat)...but I think with enough time, they'd learn each other's patterns and strategies in such detail they could effortlessly synergize with one another. Ultimate kicking ass collaboration. It's pretty similar with how they work together with inventions: most of the time they'll be arguing over their styles while they knock out EOD agents, but their specialties complement each other very well. Even if they aren't that aware, I think both of them would jump at the opportunity to protect the other while in a fight.

They're. not really getting the best sleep at Zoraxis. Maybe there's like a room (cell) for them in one of the Labs, which also acts as the scientists' observation room. They have very mixed feelings about that room: it's the first comfort they've ever known, but they don't like the cramped space of it. They also hate being watched like that...

For the most part, they busy themselves in the missions they're given, and they're willing to pull a lot of all-nighters just to get a job done. Once Doc Schaden noticed how frequently Mamba just . collapses in exhaustion, he brought them back to his place and let them sleep on the couch one time. Since then they've never slept in their old room again.

hi. solaris- wherever on earth she may be- adjusting to her new life beyond zoraxis' walls. moving into a new home. looking for new work. buying a new gun to keep in her bedside cabinet. adjusting to a new normal, somewhere far away from anyone who might hold a lethal grudge.

solaris remembering what it's like to live only for herself. solaris becoming the same shut in she was before zoraxis took her in. solaris struggling to find work after her associations with her old company left her a disreputable employee. solaris starting from scratch again. a cluttered basement, packed floor to ceiling with scavenged tools and scrap and wires and soldering equipment and pathetic excuses for blueprints drafted on the back of crumpled spam mail.

21) do they ever match in any way?

clothing wise? only if fabby makes them something matching... although i sometimes think if they lived together domestically, fabby wouldn't be opposed to wearing some of solaris' things every now and again- as oversized as they'd probably be. her beautiful nightshirt... any number of her flannels or tees would probably be great for lounging in, honestly. even girls like fabby can take a break from their preening and lounge in an oversized shirt sometimes...

what other ways can you match... um. i feel like- depending on how their life needs to differ post zoraxis- i can see the two of them getting a (much lower stakes) engineering job in the same establishment... it's highly probable that fabby would need to abandon the whole Super Famous Fashionista persona in a world where zor (or the agency, really) still runs rampant. they can go back to being coworkers somewhere much safer.

beyond that, though, i don't think they match at all. but that's fine. endearing, if anything. they listen to different music, read different books, take their coffee differently, and have drastically different hobbies aside from their shared love of engineering. but now fabby can hear about a new horror movie coming to theaters and think about solaris. and solaris can hear some new scandal in the fashion industry and tuck it away to tell fabby later. their dichotomy...

22) their own little way (or ways) to say ‘i love you’.

fabby is the one who says it verbally the most, and i do think she would say it quite often. she's not of the belief that frequency detracts from worth. she'll slather praise on solaris like butter on toast, but it's not the only way she shows it.

stealing this from you centi. you're so right that baking and cooking would be a fabby love language i think. especially when solaris has had some... admittedly rather traumatizing experiences eating. what started out as the two of them going out to eat after work has evolved into fabby making sure solaris gets something heavier than toast and coffee into her before she heads to work. delicious breakfasts and dinners, the occasional delicate pastry treat... it eases her mind to know that she's being well taken care of.

solaris rarely ever says 'i love you' at all... it doesn't mean she doesn't mean it, of course, it just... doesn't come out of her that easily. she does feel bad about it, and it isn't for a lack of trying, but it's much easier for her to show it than to say it- which the fabricator understands perfectly well.

solaris is really big on parallel play. if she's doing something in the room with you, that means- at the very least- that she enjoys your company. making an effort to do things with fabby- even things that she usually wouldn't enjoy- is the main way that she shows her commitment to her.

however, due to fabby's... history with zor, solaris makes sure to act and speak very intentionally with the fabricator. she understands full well that zor had her wrapped around her finger for... well, for years, really. and she understands that fabby's gotten used to there being a power imbalance in whatever relationship she's in. so solaris will intentionally try to remind her that things are equal between them... it feels strange and ironic to remember that fabby will often consider solaris above her (if anything, it feels like it should be the other way around), but she does her best to account for that possibility.

if fabby is hesitant about anything at all, solaris will immediately make room for her to speak her mind. accommodating is a frictionless endeavor, and she makes room for clear and open communication so as to not get fabby caught in a spiral of 5D chess zor trained her into.

she doesn't want to eat out tonight? that's totally fine... would she prefer them to order food and bring it back home to eat, or does she just want to eat what they already have? she's not feeling up to that movie they planned? would she rather the two of them do something else instead, or does she just need some time to herself right now? healthy communication was severely lacking at zoraxis, so she does her part to make room for it in their relationship post abandoning the company.

25) one to five tropes they embody or could pull off in an AU.

i will always lose my mind over the knight/royal trope. i think it fits fabbylaris very well, really... there's the forbidden romance. there's the status of having one class be higher than the other. there's the both of them having a vastly different skill set (one has physical power, and the other power with people) that work well when combined. there's the fact that if anyone found out about their relationship the both of them would get punished and one of them might die. really what more can you want.

i will say though, that their dynamic in our worship au of sinner/saint drives me kind of wild, even though it never crossed into 'official' fabbylaris territory. it still drives me crazy so its getting an honorable mention.

1) who fell first, and who fell harder?

fabby for both. i know this to be true. honestly, if it wasn't for fabby falling for her to begin with- and making an effort to get closer to her than coworkers probably had ought to be- i don't know if solaris ever would have fallen back. it takes until fabby enters the picture for solaris to actually learn that romance is something that she would be willing to work for and care about.

this isn't to say that solaris didn't fall painfully hard. honestly, the only reason fabby fell harder is because of her deep and horribly repressed yearning that threatened to explode out of her chest every time she was in the privacy of her own home. but- as someone who headcanons solaris as a demiromantic who... doesn't really have friends- the lane change from platonic to romantic attraction hit her like a freight train.

imagine some late-thirties-early-forties 6'2 horrifyingly scarred woman experiencing the equivalent of a grade school crush for the first time. if it didn't feel so good it would be fucked up. you mean to tell her this happens to 'regular' people all the time?? what's wrong with them???

20) their absolute favorite thing about each other in the whole wide world.

if they both have to pick just one?? i honestly think they'd have the same answer, funnily enough. that the other cared enough about them to give them a chance...

in any universe in which fabbylaris is possible, i would imagine zor is out of the picture- either permanently, or that they're just not living under their all-seeing eye anymore. i think that one of fabby's biggest concerns about their relationship (whether she's consciously aware of it or not) is how zor molded her into exactly what they wanted her to be.

fabby well and truly thought she was trapped under zor's thumb forever. she didn't have a choice. her every decision and action and thought needed to revolve around them. her loyalty- first and foremost- was to them...

but solaris was always there for her. a hand on her shoulder. an advocate once she was too far gone to vouch for herself anymore. a breath of fresh air. a constant reminder that the way they were treating her wasn't right. wasn't normal. wasn't loving. she would fight against zor of all people, for... her sake? no one would have done that...

as for solaris? there's a reason why she doesn't have a lot of friends. she's very... leery of the way people perceive her. she's spent her entire life dealing with people who are either terrified of her, hate her on the basis of nothing, or undervalue her when she damn well knows her worth.

... and it wasn't that fabby wasn't like that in the beginning. the two of them couldn't have been any less alike. but fabby... changed. it took a lot of time, but she fought through her pride and grew to outwardly respect her and her work. and eventually, to love her. to teach her that there's such a thing as love worth clinging to...

she kind of resolved to the fact that no one who started with a bad impression of her on the basis of nothing would ever change... that there was no reason to try convincing them to change. but fabby broke her expectations in a way that kind of shattered her worldview at the time.

12) one to three songs that remind you of them.

okay i. i don't listen to a lot of music. i needed to scrape the most Normie songs off my spotify playlist because all i listen to is gamer music.... and unfortunately there's not a lot of gamer music. that's also yuri.

i've mentioned this before, but If I Didn't Have You from sympathy jones is like. the peak fabbylaris campy villain duet song. to ME. and i'm right.

i also kind of think Wherever We Are Now from. cassette beasts. is a pretty good pick. when it comes to their shared theme of abandoning pretty much everything they know to allow themselves the ability to be together. then it's sort of like... now what? crafting a new life for themselves but its oukay... because they have each other... aaugh

okay so dressed to kill, right. fabby and solaris are going to a gala, so obviously i wanted to have them do some gala things. really really early in my drafting process, i wanted them to be milling around while an auction was going on, and solaris losing her mind at one of the telescopes being sold, but resigning herself to it not being in the budget. fabby then bids on it and wins it for her- saying something about zor giving them some pocket change to blend into the attendees better (a lie) (she bought it with her own money)
