Chapter Two — The Rugby Boy From Truham

Charlie watched Nick as he walked around the kitchen. Paying special attention to his face trying to focus on the ingredients and measurements to make sure he didn’t mess up the recipe, even though it was just pancakes.

“Is this supposed to look like that?” Nick asked all of the sudden “I’m pretty sure I got everything right but I also know it’s not supposed to look like that”

Charlie let out a small laugh as he made his way to the kitchen counter “Definitely needs more milk” he said, grabbing the milk carton.

“Wait, are you sure?” Nick asked stopping him “I added what the recipe says”

“Are you saying I don’t know what I’m doing?” Charlie asked, acting offended. Nick just shrugged and took a step back, watching Charlie as he opened the milk to pour some more into the bowl, but as he was doing so the carton slipped off his hand and made a mess all over the kitchen. Charlie quickly turned around to face Nick, who was trying his hardest not to laugh. “Sorry, I’ll clean everything, I promise” Charlie said, feeling embarrassed about the mess he made, desperately scanning the room for something to clean with. 

“Charlie, it’s ok” Nick said, holding one of his hands to make him stop“ They weren’t very good anyway, I’d be better if we went somewhere for breakfast” He said with his sparkly eyes.  

Oh, the effect they had on the short one.

Charlie looked down and flushed at the sight of their hands still touching “Okay” He replied in a shy voice, terrified to look back up. He eventually did, mentally preparing himself for whatever Nick was about to say. He saw as the blonde opened his mouth to say something, but no words came out of his mouth. Instead it was… an alarm?

Charlie frowned softly at the intrusion of light against his eyelids, reaching for his phone so he could turn off the alarm. “Fuck,” he whispered to literally no one but himself. He somehow managed to sleep through all his alarms (but feeling a little hungover he wasn’t surprised) and now he was definitely going to be late for work. 

Charlie got up in a split second and ran to the shower, as he tried to think of a way to get there in time without having to skip breakfast. 

After 30 minutes he was leaving his house, with a coffee in one hand and his keys and phone in the other, checking his notifications as he walked to his car. He was looking at his phone, scrolling through the hundreds of messages from the group chat he had with his friends, hoping to see one from Nick. He didn’t tho “He must be really busy” He though. As he looked up from his phone to unlock his car he remembered, his car was still outside Nick’s house “Ok, definitely no breakfast then” He started walking and even though he didn’t really feel like walking a few blocks to pick up his car, the idea of maybe seeing Nick excited him. 

(8:17 AM) Tao - we'll be arriving in a couple of hours

(8:17 AM) Tao - we were supposed to be there earlier but SOMEONE got lost on the way to the train station

(8:18 AM) Elle - that SOMEONE was also in charge of planning the entirety of this trip btw

Once he got there he started feeling a little nervous, approaching his car but still looking at Nick’s house wondering if he was still there, but he knew he wasn’t when he saw an empty driveway. 

Charlie spent the rest of the day doing his job, trying really hard to keep his mind busy so he wouldn’t think about Nick and why he hasn’t called him or even texted him yet, was he really that busy? 

At the end of the day he gathered his stuff and left the big building, checking his bookmarked recipes trying to find an easy option for tonight. As he was opening the door of his car he got a call, excited and nervous he checked his screen and felt a little disappointed when he saw the called ID.

“Hey Tao” 

“Wow, please try to sound less happy” Tao said in an offended tone. 

“Sorry” Charlie replied, a little embarrassed his disappointment was that obvious. 

“Are you expecting someone else’s call?” Tao asked playfully. 

“No no, I'm sorry, what’s up?” He said finally getting in his car and turning it on. 

“Oh, so this isn’t about that mysterious story you’re so eager to tell us?”

“Maybe, but I don’t want to-”

“So is it the guy from the bar? Did you spend the day with him yesterday?”

“No, this is someone else” Charlie said, not wanting to give the details on how that guy stood him up. 

“Alright then… who is it?” Tao asked, clearly expecting an answer from Charlie. 

“Do you remember Nick?”

“Nick?” He said confused “The guy from work?”

“No, Nick Nelson, he lives in my neighbourhood” Charlie replied, thinking that would ring a bell, but Tao didn’t say anything “He used to go to school with us”

“Oh no, Nick Nelson? The rugby boy from Truham?” Tao said in a tone Charlie didn’t like “Charlie, I thought we talked about straight crushes”

“No, Nick is bisexual. Remember how we heard that rumour when he left for Uni? Well turns out it’s true, he told me that himself”

“Charlie-”

“Tao stop” Charlie said interrupting his friend “You didn’t even hear the story and you’re already hating him for no reason” 

Charlie was right, and Tao knew that, but he didn’t like the idea of his best friend going out with the type of guys that bullied him in school for being gay. And Charlie wasn’t exactly great at deciding who he would give a chance to, and Tao thought he was just protecting him so he didn’t understand why Charlie was mad at him.

“I’m sorry” He was “You’re right, you’ll tell us everything during dinner and then we can talk about it”

“Thank you, yes” He said, a little relieved “So what are we doing for dinner?”

“Oh yeah, that’s why I was calling you, we were thinking it would be better if we just ordered something”

“Alright, sounds good” He said “At my house?”

“Of course, can’t break that tradition. We’ll text you when we get there”

“Ok, see you later” Charlie hung up, still feeling kind of mad at Tao’s reaction. Why was he being so unfair? They hadn’t even talked to Nick yet, maybe if he knew that they had been friends since he moved there he wouldn’t have reacted that way.

After surviving the insane traffic, Charlie finally got home, extremely exhausted but decided to clean up a bit before his friends got there. He thought it would be better if he changed out of his work clothes first, so that’s what he did. He went upstairs to find something better to wear, and just as he was about to change he heard the door.

Charlie ran downstairs  and peeked through the window, seeing a tall man with his hands in his pocket “Nick?” He said as he opened the door, feeling his hands get sweaty, a little “Hi” came out of his mouth. 

“Hi” Nick replied “Sorry, I should’ve told you I was coming”

“No, it’s ok, come in” He said taking a step back “Sorry for the mess” He blushed, remembering the dream he had that morning. 

“Oh don’t worry, I just wanted to bring this back before I forget about it” Nick looked through his bag and pulled out the game Charlie had given him the night before “Thank you” He said with a smile. 

Charlie took the game, and confused he asked “Did you finish this entire game in just one night?”

“I- um- no, I just- I don’t think I’ll have time to finish it” He said stuttering “So I thought I’d give it back, you know, in case you need it” Nick was visibly nervous, and that made Charlie even more nervous. 

“Well, thank you” Charlie just smiled at him  “It’s not like I’m going to need it, so if you want to keep it for a few more days-”

Nick just laughed and took the game back “Okay, thanks” He said smiling back at him “Sorry I didn’t call you earlier, I was going to, I promise, but I thought- Well, I was wondering if you were doing something tonight?”

Charlie looked at him, not really knowing what to say, he obviously wanted to do something with Nick but he knew his friends were probably on their way there “Oh- I really wish-” But he was interrupted by his phone ringing in his pocket. 

(6:49 PM) Aled - there is a car in front your house, we’ll just park across the street

“Shit” He said, running to the window and he saw Tao’s car parking outside, he quickly looked back to face Nick again “I’m sorry, my friends are coming for dinner tonight”

“Oh- well some other time then”

“Yes, I would love to” Charlie smiled at him, happy he would see Nick again “You still owe me a picnic anyway” He said and they both laughed.

“I do” Nick looked at the game he was holding, smiling his little excuse worked out twice “Uh- I better get going then” 

“Oh- Ok” They both started to walk towards the door, sad that tonight didn’t work out and Nick was beating himself up cause he didn’t call him earlier. 

Charlie opened the door just as the 3 friends were walking up to the entrance, all of them visibly surprised and Tao a little annoyed “Oh- um guys, this is Nick, he used to go to Truham” He said introducing him to the rest of the group “Nick, this is Aled, Elle and Tao”

“Hey, how’s everyone doing?” Nick said, greeting them one by one. 

“Woah you didn’t change” Aled looked at him carefully, almost as if he was picturing younger Nick. 

“Hey” Was all Tao said, with a dry smile and a lazy handshake. Charlie just rolled his eyes at this interaction.

“Anyway, I’ve gotta go” He looked back at Charlie and said goodbye “I’ll talk to you later then” A hug that no one expected made Charlie feel like his heart was about to explode “Bye” And Nick almost ran to his car. 

“Bye” Charlie stood there as he saw his not-so-mysterious date get into his car. 

“Are you kidding me?” Elle said, clearly excited for his friend. 

“Ugh” Tao grunted “Let’s just go inside, it’s freezing out here”

They went inside and Charlie went up to his room to finally change out of his work clothes. As he was going back to the living area, he overheard Nick’s name.

“Really? So everyone forgot who Nick is?” Tao said almost in a whisper

“People change Tao” Elle was a little louder “You can’t say that about Charlie’s boyfriend”

“That’s not his boyfriend, just a couple of days ago Charlie was talking about spending Valentine’s Day with some dude he met at a bar, and now we show up and Nick is a part of his life” Tao was frustrated that no one else seemed to understand his point “I mean, you even said it” Tao was now pointing at Aled “He didn’t change”

“I just meant like he looks the same” Aled replied, not interested in Tao’s rant. 

Tao grunted again, and Charlie decided to enter the conversation “Nick was never part of the bullying, I just wanna make that clear” He said looking at Tao “And why are you even talking about this?” 

“Charlie, I’m telling you this as your friend” Tao moved closer to Charlie and tried to hold his hands, but Charlie took a step back. 

“You promised you wouldn’t say anything until after you heard the story, but now I don’t even feel like telling you anything”

Elle punched Tao’s arm “See? This is why he never tells us anything”

“Didn’t you have a crush on him before he left for Uni?” Aled asked out of nowhere. 

“What? You did?” Tao said, clearly offended that he didn’t know that “Why didn’t you tell me?”

“Because I knew exactly how you would react” Charlie replied a very frustrated “Look at how you are reacting right now, and guess what, we’re not even in school anymore”

Everyone went silent for a moment, Charlie didn’t understand why he couldn’t just be happy for him. It’s not like they were getting married or anything, he just wanted to share how his ONE date with him went.

“I was thinking we could order some pizza. Remember the new pizza place we saw the last time we came here?” Aled suggested just wanting to avoid this subject “It’s ok, I’ll call them” He said walking to the kitchen, looking through the restaurant’s page for their number. 

“Pizza sounds great” Elle replied, signalling Charlie to follow Aled to the kitchen “If that’s ok with you” She asked him. 

“Yeah, I’ve been wanting to try that place for a while, I heard it’s really good” Charlie said smiling at Elle. 

“Charlie-” Tao put his hand on Charlie’s shoulder to make him stop. 

“I know” He stopped and looked at Tao “Let’s not talk about this anymore”

“I just- I remember how hard it was for you, when the bullying was really bad and you always tried to avoid the rugby team”

“Nick wasn’t a part of that, believe me, I would remember” Charlie gave a reassuring smile to his friend. Not like he needed to give him any explanation, but he would prefer if Tao didn’t feel that way about Nick.

“I don’t want you to go back to that, just- be careful. Don’t jump in just yet” Tao smiled back at Charlie and walked to the kitchen with him. 

“So, how was your trip?” Charlie asked the couple. They stayed there waiting for the pizza to arrive, and once the food got there they talked about everything Elle and Tao did and all the places they visited. Aled shared with them about a possible promotion he’d be getting at the museum and how excited he was about that. And luckily, the Nick situation wasn’t brought up anymore.

(8:19 PM) Nick - Hey :) 

(8:19 PM) Nick - Sorry I interrupted your dinner with your friends

Charlie smiled at his phone, happy Nick did text him like he said he would. 

(8:20 PM) Charlie - LOL don’t worry, they got here earlier than they were supposed to

“I will never eat pizza again” Tao said closing the last empty pizza box “I feel like I can’t move”

“No one told you to eat half of it by yourself” Elle said, looking at Tao’s plate. 

“We didn’t wanna waste any, did we?”

(8:21 PM) Nick - Still

(8:21 PM) Nick - Sorry if that was weird for your friends, it felt like it was

“Aled, did you order any dessert?” Tao was reaching for the paper bag looking for something sweet. 

“Are you seriously thinking about eating dessert right now?” Aled laughed “I didn’t, I thought this pizza was enough food for the four of us”

(8:21 PM) Charlie - NO, i promise it wasn’t

(8:22 PM) Charlie - they were just surprised to see you here

“Next time we should have a better plan” Tao raised his voice a little “We order less pizza and something sweet, that’s just how it works” Elle and Aled laughed but agreed. 

(8:22 PM) Nick - Ok, definitely good to know

(8:22 PM) Nick - Sooo… I was wondering if you were free on friday?

Charlie wasn’t even paying attention to his friends, instead he was staring at his phone feeling like he was going to die.

(8:23 PM) Charlie - yes, i’m free on friday

(8:23 PM) Nick - Good! Cause I was thinking we could do something

(8:23 PM) Nick - If you want to

“Charlie” Elle said loudly, he looked up from his phone and saw all of his friends staring at him, Aled was smiling at him as if he knew exactly what was happening “We’re leaving”

“Oh, ok” He replied standing up “Thanks for coming over”

They all cleaned up a little bit, making sure Charlie’s house wasn’t a complete mess because of them. After a while Charlie walked them outside and everyone said their goodbyes, hugging and waving as they got into Tao’s car.

“Thanks for letting us invade your home” Tao started the car and rolled down his window. 

“As if I had a choice” Charlie said, earning a laugh from everyone “I’ll talk to you in the morning” He waved at his friends once again, as he saw the car drive away. 

Charlie ran inside and quickly grabbed his phone, reading the last message he got from Nick, smiling at his screen as he thought of a way to seem excited but not desperate.

(8:40 PM) Charlie - yES! i’d love to!

(8:40 PM) Nick - It’s a date then

Charlie put his phone down and started jumping around in excitement. How can this make him feel this way? Maybe his crush on him was way stronger than he realised, but that’s not important right now. What’s important is… how is he gonna keep this a secret? Should he keep it a secret?

Wow WHAT AN ENDING!!!! I loved that everything didn’t end up being perfect like Charlie needed it to be!!! The final discussion between Nick and him was so so so important and it will change conversations about eating disorders I can see it now!!! I do wish there was a tw about it though! Nick choosing to come out on insta is a really big deal and I was so glad to see that he felt comfortable doing it!!! The discussion about trauma and what that can lead to is also such an important topic as well. This season was the perfect sequel and great way to lead into season 3!!! I’m very happy it was confirmed or else the last scene would have killed me!!! I cried through the whole thing but a lot of the time it was happy tears mixed with the sad!!!

wake up

- hearing the “1, 2, 3″ at the start of the episode gives me more serotonin than my antidepressants ever will

-the entire julie and luke kitchen scene i mean there are no words to describe how much i am in love with scene. the banter, the flirting, luke giving this girl he literally just met an actual PIECE OF HIS SOUL so she can get music back into her life. not a single time have i watched that scene and not felt my heart literally grow cause of how cute they are.

Author’s Note: Hi. Hello. It’s been a while! Sooooo, my life has been crazy lately, and I haven’t had time to write. BUT, I pushed through and I wrote this in a sleepy haze (so pls forgive me if it sucks lol)

Pairing: Thomas Shelby x fem!reader

Warnings: like one/two curse words, jealous!Tommy

You had never been more infuriated with Tommy before. Sure, he had done some terrible things. Things that any sane person would never forgive. But, this was just ridiculous.

It had all started about a month ago as you and Tommy readied yourselves for bed.

 “So, I’ve been thinking of getting a job” your words came out slowly and carefully as you took the pins that held your hair in place out, letting your hair fall over your shoulders.

Tommy’s movements stopped and he turned to face your reflection in the mirror. “And who would look after, Charlie,” his eyebrows rose in questioning and he tossed his suit jacket over the back of the chair sat in the corner. You rolled your eyes and let a small sigh pass your lips.

”Isn’t that why you’ve hired all of the staff?”

Now it was time for Tommy to roll his eyes. “No, not specifically,” he mumbled dryly as he changed into his sleepwear. 

“Well, we will hire someone to watch Charlie while we’re at work. I have an interview on Friday,” you pulled your red, silk robe from your body and hung it in the wardrobe.

“Friday,” Tommy’s hands came to rest on his hips. His brow was furrowed and his lips were puckered. “You’ve got yourself an interview for a fuckin’ job, and you didn’t think to talk to me about it first?”

“I didn’t think it needed to be talked about. We have enough money to get childcare for Charlie. And, honestly, Thomas, I need something for myself,” at this, Tommy’s eyebrows rose, making his forehead creased. “I love Charlie, but I feel like my entire life revolves around this house. I’m either taking care of Charlie, or you, or your brothers. I need something that is mine.”

With that, you pushed yourself under the covers and closed your eyes. Tommy was very persuasive, and he knew it. You were not going to let him talk you out of this, You’re mind was already made up.

Your body jerked at the sound of Tommy slamming the bedroom door. You rolled onto your stomach and groaned into the pillow. You knew he’d react like this, but it still frustrated you. He’d come around eventually.

The interview at the small office job went well. You were immediately hired as a receptionist and you loved every minute of it. While many women found the work tedious and boring, you couldn’t help the smile on your face as you walked into work each morning.  

The women you worked with didn’t seem to care much for you. They had all been working together for a few years, and you were new. But, Nick, your boss, was wonderful. He treated you like you were an old friend and you were grateful for it. You needed someone on your side.

Since you had taken the job, you had barely spent time with Tommy.  He was still angry with you for not speaking to him about your plans. You had apologized and tried to explain yourself countless times, but he wasn’t having it. 

So, most nights you spent alone while Tommy was in his study.  And, when he did finally come to bed, he stayed on his side. You hated fighting with him, but you weren’t going to quit your job because Tommy was being a child.

With Tommy being so cold, it was easy for you to take on more jobs at the office. You had always been a hard worker. When Nick asked you to take on some extra projects or stay late to help him finish paperwork, you happily agreed.

“How are you so good with numbers, (Y/N),” Nick let out a small chuckle as he leaned back in his chair. “I swear, without you, there’s no way I’d be able to get all of this done.”

You grinned and shrugged your shoulders. You loved being recognized for your hard work, and you hoped Nick would put you up for a promotion.

“Dunno. Just always been good with them,” you finished your calculations, penning in the last few numbers on the paper before putting the pen down. “All done, boss.”

You both let out a laugh and Nick shook his head. “Great! Now, go home, get some rest. I will see you Monday.”

He stood and put his coat on, giving you a friendly hug before exiting the quaint office.

You followed suit, putting your coat and hat on. The Birmingham weather was unforgiving this time of year, and you were thankful Thomas had bought you a car so you didn’t have to walk.

Your ride home seemed to take forever. You couldn’t tell if it was because of the cold, or the tiredness you felt taking over you. You couldn’t wait to crawl into your warm, oversized bed.

That wish was crushed the moment you walked through the door.

“Where the fuck have you been,” Tommy’s voice boomed, causing you to drop your purse by your feet.

“God, Thomas, you scared the hell out of me,” you leaned down to grab your purse and hang it on the hook, along with your coat and hat.

“It’s half past one in the morning,” his hair was disheveled and his eyes held a crazed expression. Something you’d never seen before.

“I told you I had to stay late tonight,” you moved to walk past him and up the stairs, but his large, calloused hands caught your elbow.

“Late is an hour or so. Not 1:30 in the morning,” he tilted his head to make eye contact with you. “Who were you with?”

You knew where this was going. “I was with my boss. We were finishing up some work.”

His grip on you tightened then was gone completely. His hands ran through his hair and tugged as he took a step back. “I knew you’d cheat on me when you got a job. I’ve had the boys check up on your little boyfriend. He’s married, you know.”

Before you knew what you were doing, your hand came up to slap Tommy’s cheek. “You’re disgusting, Thomas.”

Standing there in shock, Tommy reached up to rub his reddening cheek. “What? Didn’t think you’d get caught?”

Your eyes welled up with tears and you sucked in a deep breath. “For you to even think that I’d cheat on you, makes me sick.”

“Imagine how I feel, darling,” he finally turned to look at you with a cold glare and you wanted to slap him again.

“You know, Tom, I have forgiven you for so much. I have been there for you through your worst moments,” you took a deep breath and tried your best to blink back tears.

“If I didn’t want to be with you, I wouldn’t cheat on you. I would leave you.”

His eyes softened some and he took a step back to fall into one of the red, cushioned chairs. The fire that crackled in the fireplace illuminated his face, and his cheekbones were even more prominent than usual.

“Why haven’t you then,” he blinked slowly and lent his head against the back of the chair. “You’ve got yourself a job now. You’re making your own money. You could leave whenever you wanted.”

You could feel an imaginary crack split your heart in two. This beautiful, broken man in front of you just needed a little attention. You moved towards the chair he was sprawled out in and stood in between his legs. You reached down to cup his cheek, running your thumb over his cheekbone softly.

“Because, Tommy, despite everything, I’m absolutely in love with you.”

His pink, plump lips twitched upwards slightly. He reached up and put his hands on your hips, rubbing tiny circles into the fabric of your dress.

“You’ve been working late a lot,” his words were quiet and his eyes looked everywhere but your own. “I thought maybe you’d found someone else.”

You used your hand that cupped his cheek to turn his face to look at you. You bent down so that you kneeled on the floor between his legs. “I’ve been working late because I love my job. You should know by now that no one could ever replace you, Tom.”

You leaned forward, bringing your other hand up to rest on his knee. Your lips were almost brushing his own as you spoke, “No one even comes close. You’re my one and only.”

hello and welcome to the Most Extra Request Ever™. welcome. pls strap in! this request is for a cohort of people that (mostly) graduated from magnolia high in the class of 2011, and who are all interconnected through recently-deceased sam friar. as it often goes in small towns, kids who spent their whole lives being around each other tend to part ways at graduation and never see each other again. in this group’s case, they have no choice but to come back together for better or worse, and it’s done a great job at pointing out any cracks that still remain from years ago.

if you want to look at the chart above, pink = romantic / green = friendly / red = antagonistic / purple = familial. each character has a p...retty extensive blurb with lots of connections so we can try and ensure connections and interaction, but i think it’s rly important that everyone knows that these were relationships in high school (for the most part) and definitely don’t have to represent current relationships unless specified (like people who dated in high school don’t have to be dating now, people could have gone away even if it doesn’t specify, etc etc). also!! there will obviously be more connections made, i just could only put so much into graphic and writing before it got to be Too Much!

samson friar (deceased): brilliant but lazy

sam grew up as the kid who acted out, who threw fits in class and got into fights on the playground. not many people really knew how hard sam had it, with strict evangelical parents who took all their frustrations out on him. at the end of the day, after using most of his time and energy being the protective big brother for twin boy 3 and little sister girl 1, he didn’t have much left for school. even though he’d always been smart, brimming with potential, he fought forces both external and internal - including only later-diagnosed borderline personality disorder - on his short-lived path to success. as he got older, the bad boy persona he’d acquired by acting out stuck hard and he rolled with it. he had his siblings and best friends since childhood, boy 4 and girl 3, to fall back on. their ragtag bunch got a pretty gnarly name for themselves, skipping class to smoke and throwing parties in abandoned houses. no one ever expected sam to start dating girl 4, universally known to be an uptight prude bitch. something clicked between them, and even though girl 3’s longstanding crush stood in the way of their relationship, it flourished regardless. for a while, she influenced him for the better. he shaped up, got his grades up, even made plans for college. that phase of their relationship was clearly a manic one, since those dreams died quickly. the romance was intensely passionate but also toxic, and despite the animosity she held for him for convincing her to stay local for school to be together and the personal struggles he faced, they refused to break up. in fact, they even decided to get married. about six months before his death, on the heels of the discovery that girl 4 had fallen pregnant, they got engaged. despite the romantic gesture, it couldn’t save their relationship or stop fate from intervening. when girl 4 miscarried, sam went off the rails. a minor drug habit that was once recreational became much more, and not long ago he ended up overdosing, leaving the carnage of family, friends, and lovers behind.

girl 1 (22-24): baby bookworm

sam and boy 3’s little sister, girl 1 was always tagging along with them. she never really fit in with people her age, never really fit in with people her brothers’ ages, so she was often left feeling isolated from everyone. this meant she often retreated into herself, not pursuing academics because of passion but instead because it was all she really had, one constant she could point to that would always be there. she hadn’t realized that perhaps some of the turmoil she felt came from her repressed sexuality until one night, after a party her brothers had begrudgingly let her go to, girl 2 kissed her. she’d never felt a crush like that before and never thought it would be with another girl. when boy 1 moved to magnolia, the two outcasts got along very quickly, becoming best friends and hanging out every single day. understandably, girl 1 was crushed when she found out that girl 2 had taken a liking to him and, apparently, the feelings were reciprocated. caught between her friendship and the protection of an almost-relationship she couldn’t even admit to, she decided to cut off the friendship with boy 1. just before her brother’s death, she finally gave in to boy 4, her brother’s best friend’s long-standing crush, and it’s not that she doesn’t like him, or that she doesn’t like boys, but that she still sees girl 2 at the grocery store and wonders whether it meant as much to girl 2 as it did to her. there’s also the strange fact that, when she looks at boy 4, she gets subtle reminders of her brother that make his loss easier, and isn’t it close enough to love that they’ve gotten each other through this?

girl 2 (24-25): prom queen

never the smartest in the bunch, girl 2 had to rely on street smarts, common sense and good looks to get along. clever in her own way, she was always particularly attuned to people - how to make them tick, how to get what she wanted, how to make connections like no other. maybe that’s why she was always flitting from guy to guy - though girl 1 would certainly say otherwise. she went from one bad relationship to another in high school, trying to find something in a guy that she couldn’t find on her own. after an ugly breakup with her long-term boyfriend, boy 2, that ended in absolute chaos, she was surprised to find herself interested in the unassuming new boy, boy 1. her friends, including part-time friend and part-time enemy girl 4, were surprised that she’d go for a nice guy - but she knew she needed a change of pace. getting girl 1 to leave her alone in the process was just an added perk - i mean, she was never gay or anything, just curious, and was that so wrong?

girl 3 (24-25): bad genes

girl 3 was hardly given a fighting chance by the Powers That Be. her drug-addicted parents abandoned her early, leaving her with her not-much-better relatives, a revolving door of grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and the like. it was no wonder she started hanging out with fellow garbage kids, boy 4 and sam. it was a surprise to her, though, that she found herself head over heels in love with sam. the feeling was never returned, really, outside of a few awkward kisses or fondling when he was off with girl 4. everyone was always asking why she didn’t just date boy 3, but the girl was perpetually oblivious to his advances because she was always focused intently on sam. at least she thought she was - but his death proved otherwise. she had actually thought things were looking up, and had been given renewed hope for her repressed love after they slept together one night. when he overdosed despite everything she’d done and everything she felt, girl 3 blamed herself more than anyone. the only thing keeping her from going off the rails (just like her one-time true love) is boy 3, and she’s starting to see what everyone was always talking about when they insisted she choose him instead.

girl 4 (24-25): academic alpha bitch

how do you not crack under the pressure when the weight of the world is on your shoulders? girl 4 was always so good at that, not without the help of anti-anxiety meds and meticulous journaling, always keeping up appearances to be the good, smart, promising girl everyone expected her to be. sam was her break from that, something that shocked absolutely everyone. she was too good, too smart, and had too much potential to be with someone like that. really, though, he was the only thing that made her feel anything but anxiety or anger. she made enemies everywhere she went, seeing everyone as a competitor, from her so-called best friend girl 2 to sam’s best friend girl 3 to her class president opponent, boy 2. sam was always her ally, no matter what, even if they fought. everyone blamed it on him, but she made mistakes too - namely, sleeping with boy 2 after a particularly bad fight. in truth, she wasn’t even sure whose baby it was, but either way she was relieved in a way when she miscarried. sam… not so much. she watched his downward spiral but didn’t have the tools to stop it as he froze her out and distanced himself further and further away from her - and, as she saw it, toward girl 3. girl 4 was the one to find him, and it’s a memory she could never forget, something that makes her regret the relief she felt not to be inextricably linked to him. grief-stricken as she is, how can she not see this as a fresh start?

boy 1 (23-24): foreign exchange student

texas was nothing like where boy 1 came from. when he transferred to magnolia high, he didn’t know up from down or this from that. he was helpless - and girl 1 helped him. he developed a crush on her quickly, warming to her southern drawl and the way she talked when she got excited about something she was telling him about. at the same time, he started getting closer and closer to his mentor, the girl who was assigned to help him get acclimated to his new home and his new school: girl 2. it was strange to him that, when he became friends with girl 2, girl 1 stopped sitting next to him in economics, stopped eating with him at lunch, stopped answering his texts or calls. he didn’t see the correlation until later, when girl 2 made tasteless a joke about girl 1 being a lesbian. he had to adapt, either sink or swim in the high school environment he found himself in, and being with girl 2 meant swimming - and anyway, girl 1 clearly wasn’t interested anyway.

boy 2 (24-25): big man on campus

boy 2 had everything he needed to succeed in life. his family had money in oil, he was exceedingly smart, he was good at sports and great with the ladies. he had everything going for him - well, almost everything. the only thing standing between him and success was a little temper that found him getting into fights on the football field or getting into screaming matches with his ex-girlfriend girl 2 in the middle of the hallway at school. he just needed something to channel all that energy into, so he signed up to run for class president, a good old fashioned competition that he could put some positive energy into. he never expected it to be such a tough battle, and much less expected to get into it with girl 4. perpetual rivals in school, their rivalry came to a head during the presidential election. she won, but he developed a fascination with her and a hatred for her garbage boyfriend, sam. he went off for college, but she never really left his mind. he came back recently after losing his job (he says he resigned, but that’s twisted the whole truth a little) and met girl 4 in a bar, and he thought their getting together would be a good thing for them - he could give her everything sam couldn’t, everything she needed and deserved. turns out he was just a distraction, and he told himself he’d draw a line. the line has been drawn even further since sam’s death, since boy 2 definitely doesn’t want to get involved with a dead guy’s fiancee. still, he can’t help but wish she’d reach out…

boy 3 (24-25): the unassuming one

boy 3 always felt positively boring, not good or bad but somewhere plainly in the middle. his twin brother sam was always getting the attention - mostly negative, but boy 3 quickly became a firm believer in life that all attention is good attention. he was always grateful for the protection he got, for himself and for little sister girl 1, but at the same time was resentful of his brother for his notoriety. they shared everything, like best friend boy 4, and everything else went automatically to sam. sam never respected what he wanted to do or who he wanted to see, including girl 3. sam always knew that he liked her, and yet sam used her crush on him to his advantage at any possible time. as close as they always had been, the resentment was too much for boy 3 to handle and, when he got the chance, he decided to go off and backpack across europe to find himself before going to college across the country. he’s back now for the funeral, and while he know better who he is now, he can’t help but hate himself a little for driving a wedge between himself and his other half. he’s falling into old habits now, trying to reconnect with the person he used to be in any way he can - like how he’s fallen back in with girl 3. now, he can’t tell whether this is growth, or if he’s just regressing back to his lesser self.

boy 4 (24-25): class clown

no one ever took boy 4 seriously. he was always sort of dumb, this caricature of a class clown that had nothing else to offer. after a while, he sort of saw himself as that, too. he moved in a pack with boy 3 and sam, cracking jokes whenever he could and coasting along until high school would finally end. he spent so much of his young life hanging out with the twins that he became well acquainted with girl 1, their little sister. the boys had their own things, girlfriends and schoolwork and everything, and as they got older and boy 4 found himself devoid of any real passion, he spent a lot of idle time with her, learning from her and maybe, secretly, falling in love with her. he always knew how protective sam was of her, though, and as fiercely loyal as he was, he would never sacrifice their friendship for anyone - not even someone as amazing as her. sam dying was the worst pain he’s ever felt in his life, and if being around girl 1 is mutually beneficial, wouldn’t sam be okay with that? he has to tell himself yes, otherwise the guilt would overtake him and he can’t deal with that on top of everything.

Episode #2: “I have no material for a confessional” - John

Cole got voted out? Who is Cole? Oh the one who proclaimed that "the real bitch has arrived"...bye.

Ok so now that Cole is gone, my next target if we lose I think Bryce should be next. The tribe shoulda known what would happen when me and Nick got put together :) only the inevitable tribe swap can screw this up.

So I have no idea who that first boot guy was, but rip the first of many people!  I hope to not follow him out the door anytime soon lmfao...

This challenge looks like it'll be fun and brain blasting, but I'm so bad at everything, so we shall have to see how I perform!  I really want to thrive in this pre-merge portion and not only form alliances but also show that I can do a challenge for my tribe and do it well!

Hi! I’m Nicole! I’ve been doing so terrible in this game so far, I already got a strike for not submitting a confessional and also abstained from last immunity. I absolutely HAVE TO pull my weight this round or my tribe is gonna hate my guts. I love Alice in Wonderland so I’m sad that I am doing so pooorly but hopefully I still have time to turn it around.

I did the challenge and i hope i did well enough to give us points to win immunity. Dont really want to go to tribal. I really like my tribe. It is time tho to have somewhat game talk. Right now Im feeling like I want to align with sharky, dennis, and charlie. But need to see who they would want to work with. I also really like Brian. So by default if we do lose, my target might be Nicole which sucks but we havent really talked. Those are my thoughts so far.

I started my game talk with Dennis and he wants to work together which is great. (Hopefully he is telling the truth). Next we talked about who we should bring in and he said charlie and Im down with that because Charlie is awesome. I brought up Sharky and Dennis said that he was chill and would work with him. He’s asking Charlie and I’ll be asking Sharky. Hopefully this four person alliance works. I really like to work with them three.

Okay the game has officially BEGUN. Maynor just came to me pitching an alliance. I feel great about working with because we get on really well. The only hiccup is that he followed it with pitching us working with Dennis and Charlie as a 4 person alliance. I really want to work with Brian though so I'm going to try and get him to keep his options open...but I have an alliance at least.

Does Nicole have a personality? I'm really not sure because our conversation has consisted of NOTHING. I want to work with women...but not Nicole…

Charlie and Sharky both agreed to be part of the 4 person alliance. This is great because we will have majority on our tribe. Hopefully its true tho. Sharky is down to be my duo partner in this game and im 100% truthful about that. I would totally go to the end with him. Lets just hope we win immunity today so we can avoid tribal again.

Okay so this alliance is in motion and Brian is getting left behind...I have to figure out a way to warn him without freaking him out

Wowee, tribal. Not a fan. I should be Gucci but like maybe a new Gucci gang will usurp me. Though I do severely doubt it lol. wooo! Did someone mention that I have an exam tomorrow as well? Love this. Brb gonna have a mental breakdown.

Alliance of 4 is great. Going to make a chat later with host. Need to come up with an alliance name first. We won immunity which is awesome. We are now only tribe to have all memebers still. Which is good and bad since we could be targets during a swap for having everyone still in the game. Lets 🤞 that doesn’t happen.

Keaton has decided he wants to be buddies with me and BC now so *surprise* that’s an alliance now. Woohoo. Keaton’s growing on me a lot actually - it took him a while to get started but now he’s arguably one of my favorites. Keep it up Keaton!

At this point it’s getting increasingly obvious that BC wants to be everyone’s best friend. The alliance with Matt happened because BC had a chat with both of us the night before about allying separately. And Keaton initiated the alliance yesterday because of a conversation he had with BC. And then apparently BC gets on really well with Marie as well? From my perspective, he’s spreading himself too thin and it could bite him in the ass if he’s not careful.

As for the vote, it’s between Marie and John. BC and I are leaning John. The guy hasn’t talked to me once since the first night. He’s putting in super low effort, and I’d rather have someone like Marie who actually tries to be a part of the team. Matt and Keaton seem to be leaning Marie though. I’m going to try to push BC into committing against John without being too vocal either way myself. If Marie winds up going, it’s not the end of the world, but I’d really like to see John gone.

Sooooo I have an idol... a legacy advantage... a majority alliance... and our tribe won immunity... I think I’m the most powerful player in the game right now... let’s just stay that way!

I just sent in to create the Four of a Kind alliance which is me, Dennis, Charlie, and Sharky. Sharky and I named our duo alliance. I feel that Sharky is genuine to were I trust that he does want to work together. I still want to bond with Brian because I really like him. Nicole is mostly offline so idk. Our conversation like stopped.

So apparently the hosts want me to make one of these so I will. Not much to talk about since im in the majority and we aren't going to tribal. Bryce is presumably going next although he is good at challenges and appreciates Travis Scott. But according to Nathan he tried to target me so ya know.

So my phone is gone... this is sad and for now I have no way of getting it back so I am not quitting until I get voted out but I am not giving up.

So I’m shook I survived the first vote and we won thank god. I’m so happy for Nathan he really stood up for me last round and I’ve got his back no matter what now! I’m just hoping that Bryce isn’t angry with me for the cole vote oops

well APPARENTLY we're all so fucking bright that we all had the same great idea. none of us are going to dare suggest we have a preference here, and we're going to sit around until late tonight going "ya idk im fine with whatever". because that's what survivor's all about.

at least Keaton's hinting aggressively that he prefers to vote Marie here. if he were a little more active he'd be a lock for my favorite on the tribe.

Why I get paranoid: I thought why not share why I’m paranoid when I play games... Survivor is a very cut throat killer game and when thinking about how to control that part to me to where I can be cut throat with no regrets. I turn that on at merge and cut away the paranoia because I simply know that once merge hits there is some respect to everyone left in so I feel a bit more comfortable making the plays I do but before merge it’s kind of stressful... fun fact about me is I never have gotten premerge in an official group game. So in a sense I guess I’m paranoid because the pressure is on premerge and merge is where I really start to pull it together because if I go out there’s simply no reason to really care what place I get.

So, some developments. First of all me and Dennis feel like we've cracked a part of the puzzle on the search thing, as the wording was the same in two different things we found. Praying that Dennis gets and advantage. Imagine if we held all the powers by day 5 hahahaha.

Also, Dennis told me Maynor wants to make an alliance with me him and Sharky. I do feel good about this but would rather have Brian involved tbh. Despite this, me and Brian talked and I feel good about my relationship with him. He's a really nice guy!

Dennis didn't get anything on the hunt.. boooo. I am kinda wondering whether he's lying to me, cos I don't really understand why he tried to talk 4 times when there was another option... idk I trust him but I hope he's not hiding any advantage from me.

The alliance also got made. Good to feel comfortable in a group tbh

I am a little bit worried about having told Sharky about the idol. Idk if I can trust him yet. It felt kinda awkward when I promised him I'd share the idol with him, I am genuine about that but I hope he sees that.

I have no idea what’s happening this vote so I’m gonna vote Keaton because he’s the one I’ve talked to the least and hopefully I don’t get voted out ughhh
