I once told a Kataang anti trying to do the 'Kataangers worship Bryke so that's why they're hating Natla even though they ALSO ruined Katara' narrative when plenty of Kataangers are critical of Bryke that they(and Zutaras in gen)don't actually talk to Kataang shippers other than to bully us and i quote 'I see you EVERYWHERE get a JOB' and i feel that really sums up my feelings on Z/Ks.They love making everything about their ships and anti ships even on strangers' post and that is absolute jobless behavior coming from someone with a part time job who does activism like charity and community service too💀Sucks 2 suck and comrade Zuko wouldn't be havin' that shit

Yeah see while I try not to have an irrational hatered of bryke, I approach them (as I do most big creators tbh) with a certain level of scepticism and distrust. They've certainly made a lot of blunders and shitty decisions both in their works and irl. But I think sometimes the fandom misses out on 2 very important things. 1) Mike and Bryan are 2 seperate people you'll be surprised how many people I've seen gomplain about them that thought they were one guy. And 2) we are not privy to evrry conversation, every discussion etc. We can only speculate and go off testimonies when it comes to things like theorising on who in the writers room made what decision etc etc.

I will gladly call them out on things they mess up (I mean look at me screaming into the void about Kuvira and how they fucked that storyline over.) Like for example, the less then stellar treatment of South Asian cultures and people in both atla and tlok, which I think is a much more obvious and poignant subject than busting out the red yarn and trying to figure out whether or not they injected their own preferences into Kataang or something equally nebulous.

I just don't really understand the animosity from a lot of zutara shipers ig? Like girl why are you beefing with a 12 year old fictional character and having a weird parasocial hateful obsession with two white guys. Make some soup. Eat a snickers. Moisturise.

I showed a pic of Porky to my mother and explained his lore, and her FIRST take was: "Why do his parents let him walk around dressed like that?"

I asked what she meant, and she elaborated with

"If the family is so rich, why do they let their son go around with a missing suspender flap?"

"Doesn't he have other pairs to use instead?"

"And if not, can't they just go and buy new ones?"

"They have the money, don't they have a reputation to keep? Who would want for others to see their child always wearing damaged clothes"

This would actually be in character for them if you think about it. This just means the abuse runs way deeper than we thought.

Some other examples of this observation are:

-Such a big house, but the kids still have to share a room?

-Picky is portrayed with an oversized T-shirt, most likely an item he will have to grow into and use for YEARS, or maybe second hand from his brother

-Porky buys new clothes as soon as he leaves home and has his own money

I'm not saying these things are inherently bad, some like second hand clothes are completely normal, it's just scummy that Aloysius and Lardna are always spending on restaurants and other ostentatious things while seemingly neglecting their children's needs

Ok so I thought about this and what would double be like if MC said "hey I'm pregnant your the father" because I feel it'd go one of 3 ways

He'd be an okish father, not too present but not downright bad, would train the kid to kill asap tho.

He'd make MC abort the baby as soon as they tell him they're pregnant.

He would straight up leave MC.

Double chains you to the wall in his afterstory- he's not missing out on the chance to keep you tethered to him with a living hostage. He is definitely making you keep that kid regardless of what you want.

But I don't think he'd be an "okay" father by amy strech of the imagination. I think he would be neglectful when he isn't outright cruel. Double strikes me as the kind of person to see a child as an extension of himself rather than their own actualized person. And god forbid they disobey- we know what Double does to people who go against him.
