Throughout the years, Danny and Ra's get into fights. Unfortunately for Ra's, Danny's a biter. Unfortunately for Danny, biting immortals are never a good idea. Especially when your own DNA is beyond messed up
Imagine the look on Ra's face when they guy he likes fighting shows up with a baby in hand and says, "congratulations, you're a father"
Repeat it two more times because Danny just doesn't learn
Ohohoho, now this is quite fun. And this could be completely new children, or, this could be the three Al Ghul children. Which if it is? Is hilarious. And hey, Dusan even has Danny's white hair and green eyes!
But seriously I love this. Logically, Danny should learn to not bite, in fact? He knows how to fight, and can do so without biting. He's just also a petty little shit who will go feral when fighting this one asshole [insert relationship here].
Even more hilarious if Danny shows up throughout time too. And it's not like they exactly explain to anyone on the outside of their [insert relationship here], which definitely leads to so many misunderstandings and rumors.
Love the idea if this is even a semi-normal ghost thing. Just, usually the mixing of ecto is done on purpose, and not usually having to be worried about happening via blood. But Danny? Is a halfa, meaning that he is half human. And if he bit anyone else, it would probably have no effect, except for the fact that the human mouth carries quite a bit of bacteria and en ecto-contaminated one more so. So for anyone else, biting is an actual good option, but Ras? Also ecto-contaminated via Lazarus Pit.
Which is a different type of ectoplasm, like comparing saltwater to freshwater, but is still ectoplasm. If anyone else bit anyone else, it wouldn't happen. But no, Danny just has to have the habit of biting his immortal sparring asshole of a rival-buddy. And said buddy better be fine with co-parenting otherwise he's taking child support.

Perhaps the worst game design choice in Skyrim is when you are told to go kill nameless bandits who you can't talk to and just exist as random enemies, and then when you're fighting one they yell "I yield" and you're okay, that's fair, I'm just here to get some random sword I don't actually want to kill you and after all, the game tips say that if they yell "I yield" you can sheathe your sword and they'll stop fighting
Then you find out that's COMPLETELY FALSE, the game does NOT allow you to do that, the nameless bandits like all enemies in the game are programmed to fight to the death, and that's what you do, you fight them to death, because they have no names no lives or anything, they are there to keep attacking you and fight to the death for a chest with 124 gold and boots with a bonus to enchantment.
Or what's worse, the game makes them yell "PLEASE NO MORE" or "I YIELD" JUST as you deliver the killing blow. It would be an interesting comment on violence in videogames if it wasn't just a fakeout because the nameless bandits aren't actually coded to do anything but to fight you to death.
Okay, that's a bunch of poor game design choices, not just one.

i am always eternally amused by the idea that the Mist hiding baby Jason being a human child in Lupa's pack to mortals just. made him look like a wolf pup. so as far as mortals are/the state of California is concerned Jason is legally a wolf.

I believe that Camp Half Blood has to have some sort of nightlife. It's a camp full of teenagers, who all have issues with authority, and some of those teenagers are the children of the god of alcohol, chaos, and revelry.
Plus these teens don't think they're ever going to reach adulthood. Like before Heroes of Olympus a demigod reaching the age of 18 was seen as a pipe dream. So reaching the age where they could legally drink, get piercings, or tattoos was seen as something unattainable. And a college party life was something one could only hope for.
Do I think that the Camp Half-Blood teens are throwing intense raves every night? No. Do I think some of the older campers sneak off, maybe throw up some mist, and have a couple beers? Yes.
All I know is that some older camper is going home with hazy memories of a drunken night, a poorly healed homemade piercing, and a stick and poke that's going to fade in a year.

"will solace should have a gun" "will solace should be powerful"
will solace should have a character arc where he feels like he needs to be good at archery, fighting, etc to be considered useful/powerful, and feels insignificant compared to his siblings and other demigods because he doesn't have powers that are useful in solo fights against monsters/other demigods, only to learn the hard way that it's the healers that make or break a battle, it's the healers that keep everyone alive, and if it wasn't for him and his siblings, then everyone else would be dead ten times over. He learns that his ability to heal is worth more to the war effort than any weapon or violent power could be and that he's exactly as powerful as he needs to be

Omg, timkon in the demigod au?!? If it’s not too spoilery, what’s the deal with kryptonians in this au? I think I read that Clark is Helios or something? I don’t have the fic open right now to check…
timkon in demigod au indeed!! it’s not really spoilery, but i was trying to type out an explanation and figured i might as well just share that section of the fic instead:
Superboy—because that’s Superboy there on the stone floor, leather jacket and curls and of course, the brightness makes so much sense now—sucks in a breath, one hand braced on the floor, face gray. “What,” he wheezes, raising a trembling finger to jab in Tim’s direction, “is that?”
And beyond the dull fire raging in his shoulder and plummeting sense of dread, Tim feels a tiny spike of indignation. They haven’t met, but Tim knows enough about Superboy to know they’re more similar than not; that is to say, Superboy is the only other living demigod in existence. His status as a demigod is a bit contested—a few years ago, after it got out that Superman is in fact literal Helios reincarnated and hidden away on Earth for decades, an incredibly suspect government operation managed to harvest divinity from Superman’s then-dying body and infused it into human genetic material, and somehow the end product was a teenage boy with Superman’s godlike strength and ability to fly on sunbeams, plus an inexplicable affinity for posing on camera in goofy-looking sunglasses—but when Tim learned about him, shortly after returning to the surface, he decided Superboy counted as a demigod. Some gods were literally born out of foreheads and seafoam. How was a government lab all that different? Which meant, Tim had thought, there was someone else out there like him. Even if that someone had a fan club and official merch and could stay on the surface all he wanted—on some level, still, they were the same.
Now, as he meets Superboy’s glare, Tim gets the sense that Superboy would not appreciate the comparison.

Im hc that the sleep/dream god trio's (Hypnos, Morpheus and Hermes) kids are made from the gods dating (usually consensually) a mortal in the dream world and when that mortal wakes up the demigod just spawns
Tho I feel like thats slightly less/more fucked up than Athena's thing cause imagine having what you thought was just a sex dream and waking up with a baby
Idk i couldnt think of any jobs that'd attract a sleep or dream god so i gotta think outside the box

I notice I make Annabeth refer to herself as "mama" a lot...I will not be stopping that anytime soon.
referencing: these fics 1 and 2
another poly! Percabeth x reader blurb
"open this. It's the last one." Percy pulled a messily wrapped present from under the tree and the both of you grin at Annabeth's suspicious look. Slowly, as if she was scared it would blow up in her face, she peeled back the paper and opened the flimsy plain box. A red and white apron sat folded much neater than the gift had been wrapped. In a soft cursive font was the single word "mama" engraved into a beautiful and simple apron. Her eyebrows furrowed as she looked up at the two of you.
"...I don't get it."
"you know-" Percy started
"because you call yourself mama all the time." you finished
"no I don't." she frowned, and a crease formed like it always did when she thought too hard
"come to mama."
"ugh Mama's tired."
"Mama's helper"
"you say it everyday." Percy laughs Her face flushed red and her frown turns sheepish.

in your most recent tyson post, you said something about leo being distinctly autistic-coded and I was wondering if you could elaborate on that? it sounds really interesting (sorry if you've already posted something on this, I couldn't find anything though)
Of course! I do have a specific tag for talking about Leo's autistic-coding/traits - [here], and [one for Nico as well].
The main aspects with Leo being autistic-coded actually have a lot to do with Nico being autistic-coded, because it's the comparisons between the two that most clearly indicate Leo is autistic-coded rather than it just being his ADHD or etc.
So with Nico being autistic-coded, it's very clear in the Titan's Curse that he's intended to be autistic. First, the first series has a repeating pattern of secondary characters being very distinctly neurodivergent-coded in different ways (Annabeth's adhd/dyslexia, Tyson's down syndrome-coding, Nico's autism-coding). With Nico's introduction, he's pretty stereotypically autistic and we're given a lot of descriptors about him that are notably not attributed to him being ADHD, like it would be for other demigod characters. He doesn't register social cues such as people getting annoyed at him, he's asking/making inappropriate or impolite questions/comments, he gets particularly upset about change (such as Bianca joining the Hunt) and generally gets emotional, and one of his most notable traits he's introduced with is the fact that he has a special interest (MythoMagic) - and we're shown that this special interest particularly colors how Nico navigates the world. While ADHD has hyperfixations, we don't really get much acknowledgement of hyperfixations with demigods usually - Annabeth gets a little, but most others don't and it's not nearly as focused-in on as Nico's is.
Then as the series continues we see these traits stick with him and him start to show or voice more traits that similarly indicate he's autistic: He regularly mentions how he doesn't understand living people and prefers the company of the dead (social issues). He has more notable stims than other demigods (twisting his ring, fiddling with bones, etc). He's indicated to have strong sensory preferences (usually wearing mostly black/aversion to bright colors, usually wearing layers/his coat, multiple times he's described as wearing loose/baggy clothing or clothes too big for him). He has specific comfort items (his ring, likely his jacket(s) as well). We later get even more information about his special interests (Mythomagic/mythology/history and an older interest in pirates - the latter he specifically notes likely heavily influenced his feelings towards Percy). He struggles with emotions and facial expressions and tone. He struggles particularly with ostracism and feeling like he doesn't fit in and has something distinctly different about him from the people around him (who notably, all have ADHD, which indicates it isn't the ADHD that's making him feel that way), and other characters regularly describe him as being off-putting because of his strange behaviors - again, different from specific ADHD traits they recognize. And that last point is kind of notable because we have Hazel and Bianca for comparison - we know people are off-put by both Nico and Hazel because of being children of Hades/Pluto and their powers/aura, but other characters get past that general feeling of discomfort way faster with Hazel. And even after characters get past the death stuff with Nico, there's a second thing that they aren't moving past that isn't a factor with Hazel (Nico's autism).
So that brings us to Leo - Leo is paralleled to Nico a lot. And there's some very specific traits about him that we know are autistic-coding because of how they're used with Nico: He similarly struggles with social cues/etc, and in a very similar parallel to Nico describes how he prefers the company of machines to people because machines make more sense to him. He has similar types of clothing/sensory preferences (again some stuff with layers but also - pockets! He likes having pockets and things to put stuff in! He's even introduced as having a jacket with lots of pockets), and he has a distinct special interest (machinery) that we specifically know heavily influences how he views and navigates the world (constantly comparing things to machinery, describing things with machinery metaphors/terminology, etc etc). He even describes his entire general worldview to Hazel and it's a machine metaphor. He also similarly struggles with ostracization like Nico does, the only difference being that Leo specifically puts on a persona to compensate for areas he knows he's lacking in and very explicitly describes it as a means to make people like him, because without it he normally struggles to fit in (He's masking!). We also see notes of characters describing that similar discomfort with Leo's behaviors that they do with Nico, except without the aura of death this time. And when we're in Leo's POVs we see a very stark difference between his masking and his actual personality/behaviors such as his internal dialogues or how he behaves when he's alone. Also, like Nico, he stims more than other demigods, though for Leo it's more attributed to his ADHD. Leo also, more often than most, similarly struggles with tone and reading the room, such as making misplaced jokes/comments or etc.
But yeah! It's really interesting. Also it's just a fun thing that ADHD/dyslexia and autism have comorbidity, so it makes sense that we see demigods who are also autistic. It's also really fun to look at how other characters are coded in the series, what coding looks like in the riordanverse specifically (usually it's tied into the mythological stuff - like Chiron being in a wheelchair but he's actually a centaur, Grover being introduced as having a muscular disease but he's actually a satyr, demigods having adhd/dyslexia, Tyson being coded as having down syndrome but he's a cyclops, etc etc - it's a lot of specific metaphor stuff that I've talked about a bit before), and to look at how characters are compared to one another.
#pjo#riordanverse#leo valdez#nico di angelo#autistic nico#autistic leo#autism#analysis#Anonymous#ask#long post //#woof sorry that got long#im very passionate about this topic#re: characters being paralleled#Ms. ''Constantly Neutral - No Emotions'' Reyna looking at Nico stimming in the exact same way she does (twisting ring)#and internally going ''We have a lot in common. I don't know how I feel about that.'' is one of my favorites.#like. reyna. ma'am. you might be autistic. good luck with that.#with the pattern of coding in the first series i do suspect Rachel has some coding as well but i haven't been able to pinpoint what it is#I think it may be the whole seer thing and the fact that she could see the future#even before becoming the oracle/despite being a mortal rather than a demigod (who just get rare prophetic dreams normally)#and in BoTL her entire thing is that she's able to see things that no one else can and that's how they navigate the maze#particularly also with how the labyrinth is treated/how it affects people within it (see: Chris)#and how the only other seer in the first series - May - is characterized and her coding compared to Rachel's#also something something the seer traits become more prominent once Rachel meets Percy#something something metaphor about only being able to recognize neurodivergency traits once you're familiar with them#so Rachel meets Percy = introduction to the community > Rachel recognizes her own traits/symptoms > gets a support system (oracle)

Annabeth Chase ran away on her own at seven. Annabeth Chase offered to stay in the underworld so her friend she had only known for a month could save his mom. Annabeth Chase held up the literal sky. Annabeth Chase led a quest knowing she was going to lose someone, but knowing the quest had to happen to save her camp. Annabeth Chase held Kronos, the king of the Titans, at a standstill with a knife. Annabeth Chase took a knife that would’ve killed Percy, purely on instinct. Annabeth Chase survived Tartarus. Put some respect on Annabeth Chase’s name 👏🏼

Another drabble trade with @doveywovy, this one had the prompts 'Blessed' and 'Forbidden Technique'
Technically, all of the techniques unlocked by the mangekyo are forbidden.
A few generations ago one of Izuna's ancestors went through the painstaking process of trying to document just how severe the vision loss caused by each technique was. Not a single one could be used without damage.
(Shortly afterwards, that ancestor tried to catch the entire clan in a genjutsu and died from the chakra drain -- the notes Izuna had read had posthumous notes added with theories about how the mangekyo might affect the mind as well.)
But for a shinobi, being forbidden does not mean a true ban. The label stands only as a warning: Using this technique has consequences. If you are to use it, be aware of it. Izuna has heeded them -- he's never once used the higher abilities of his eyes, because if Madara is to have them someday they need to be in perfect condition.
He has Tobirama pinned at the end of a ravine. There's cover enough to make it defensible; normal fire won't do a thing here, and they're matched enough that Izuna can't be assured of victory if he tries to finish him with his sword -- especially when they're both as exhausted as they are. Every moment Izuna allows his opponent to catch his breath is another moment he might find an upper hand
It's not a quite snap decision. Izuna has imagined the easy victory he could win ever since he first manifested the mangekyo, he's just never allowed himself to act on it until this moment.
Ameterasu is the most self-damaging technique there is -- but he only needs to use it once.
The mangekyo manifests into his eyes with a dry burn, which quickly becomes a searing pain as Izuna pushes more chakra into them then he ever has before.
"Ameterasu!"
Black fire twists and flows. Izuna can see Tobirama's alarm at the new technique before the scene becomes blurry with the blood that wells from his eyes. He counters with water, as he usually does -- a huge wave of it, a panicked last defense that would have worked on any other technique Izuna could have tried. The suiton explodes into steam without slowing Izuna's black flames at all. It gives him enough space to wipe the blood from his eyes -- to see Tobirama burn.
Only there is no screaming, no scent of burning flesh. The steam drifts up and away and Izuna stares.
His fire remains, the pull on his chakra and the stinging of his eyes is proof that it's his, but it's changed. Where it's clung to Tobirama, the flames of Ameterasu have turned white, a corona of holy fire burns across his shoulders and makes the red of his eyes gleam.
They had been a sign, every Uchiha had known it. The second son of Butsuma Senju very well could have been blessed, but no one had ever tried to prove it. He's Senju. It was easier not to know.
Now Izuna has gone and given himself irrefutable proof. Tobirama is blessed by Ameterasu, so much so that her fires will not harm him.
(Izuna had always thought he'd seemed a little inhuman. This is just confirmation, really).
Tobirama tries to brush the fire away only to spread it to his hands, to drip from his fingers down his sword.  He's still wary, not yet ready to discard it as a genjutsu trick as long as he can't dismiss it, and Izuna must have some sort of expression on his face that makes him pause further when he sees it.
There's no time to catastrophize about what it all means. Izuna shuts his sharingan and the fires fade away, the sense of his chakra burning next to Tobirama's disappears and leaves a new emptiness behind. He sheathes his sword, bows, as though Tobirama is an honorable opponent, and takes the opportunity to retreat.
Izuna will just have to bring him home next time they meet.
