Apart from being sassy, deep down Rafayel loves your company. You’re the only one who stands him, despite his “bratty humor”, and more so how he wants to be your center of attention 100% of the time

Xavier;

Always has a spare set of pijamas whenever you come over to stay during the night. Sometimes, he’ll match with you while in others, Xavier wears little clothing if it’s a hot summer night

His favorite type of dates is going to the observatory during a cold night, especially if he gets to share a blanket under the stars with you

Xavier is more of a simple guy, he doesn’t like over the top expensive gifts and would prefer things like flowers, a new bedsheet set, plushies…

However, when it comes to gift you things, Xavier would do anything (even if it was impossible to do so) like bringing down a star from the night sky for you. He opts in giving you a star/sun necklace that matched with his moon one

Xavier isn’t used to calling you his, although it’s cute whenever he gets shy, holding your hand while walking under the stars whenever he gets the chance to do so. But his favorite nickname is “his star”

Zayne;

Even with his busy schedule, Zayne makes time for you, or invites you to spend lunch with him. After all, he was pleased to see you smile while interacting with the restaurant’s cat.

He loves outdoor dates since he’s cooped up in an office most of his time, although Zayne wouldn’t mind inviting you to a restaurant or going to an arcade during the afternoon

Zayne loves to give you jewelry, simple things like charms for your bracelet or rings that end up matching with his and he will never ask for anything back. He actually dislikes seeing you spend money for him, after all, he wouldn’t hesitate to spoil his beloved

Even if he hates it when you spend money on him, Zayne is fond of flowers and keeps some in his home. You also buy him a phone case with a small cat design because his phone is in need of one.

He’s the type to get all pouty when you don’t say “I love you” back when he drops you off at work or anywhere else. He’ll continue to call out to you and won’t be shy about it as people start to look your way. Isn’t going to back down until he hears it back. It’s a daily thing at that, saying it before he leaves the house to go to work, when you two separate, and everything in between.

He’s the type to wrap himself around you after a long day of work. Back in your twos shared home he’ll call out your name in a whiny tone as he drops everything to cling around you. His head is nuzzling into your neck as he breathes in the familiar scent of home. You two settling down at the dinner table as he eats whatever you cook or if you two are both lazy, takeout is always an option.

He’s the type to not so subtlety hide his jealousy. You can notice how his expression slightly changes especially in his eyes as you mention another man’s name. He also does somewhat childish things when he’s jealous. He once changed Dr. Ratios contact picture to an apple and when you had asked he simply replied, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” He had noticed how you two had started to talk more and regretted the decision to introduce him to you.

He’s the type to sleep in late when he has days off work. Bathing in the sunlight peeking in from the windows as you two curl up in the bed. The little cat cakes dozing off around you two as a blanket was half draped over the both of you. His hand around your waist and your leg over him. Clinging onto you and telling you another ten minutes but he had already said that excuse three times already.

He’s the type to shower you in so so so many luxurious gifts. From the most expensive designer bags, jewelry, and anything else you wanted. Your closet is packed with the most trendiest outfits. • Baaabe has never encountered a physical fight in their life. Always one to stay out of trouble, they keep to themselves and never enter any altercation that involves a clean uppercut or south paw, because they’d surely fail.

Or so they thought. Hell, even Asher did when he begged them to join him in his adventure to the arcade and purposefully led the two of them up to the Boxing Punch Game. It’s the first time Baaabe is seeing the name of the machine, but they are familiar with it. The player decks the red punching bag dangling before them and watches the score tally up to deduce whether they are as strong as they thought or indeed a weakling.

Too afraid of what their results may yield, Baaabe volunteers Asher to go first, which he does without complaint. The sound of his fist colliding with the bag echoes across the arcade hall and perks a few ears, and his score grazes the seven hundreds. Baaabe feels her toes curling in anticipation while Asher keeps on encouraging them to just give it a shot, and that “the score doesn’t matter. You’re unempowered after all, I have a bit of an advanta—“

The rest of his sentence gets caught in his throat, his jaw slack as her numbers climb and climb to over a thousand total points. But even more shocking—to Baaabe’s total disbelief and Asher’s amusement, the punching bag lie on the floor, disconnected from its machine.

Yup. Baaabe broke the fucking game. All from a single hit.

It made Asher hard a little scared of his mate’s true strength. He did the dishes that night without complaint.

• Clumsy as they may be, I think Angel is secretly good as secretly good as sewing. Perhaps they worked as a part time seamstress for a past job, maybe a uniform store that involved hemming a measurements. This is a wonderful tool to have for emergency instances, like that broken zipper on Baaabe’s wedding attire which Angel resolved with ease. Baaabe would claim the rest of the night that Angel really is a saint sent from higher deities out of our control. Everyone will blame these babbles on the mate’s alcohol intake.

But in the comfort of their home, Angel uses this power for pure, ungodly chaos. Including, but not limited too:

1. Slightly hemming Davey’s tank tops to fit him slimmer around his waist. His mate loves how it shows off his physique.

2. The clothes he hasn’t worn in a while will be cropped to better fit Angel. How they gaslight David into believing his security hoodies keep shrinking in the wash and he needs a better vendor who uses less cotton is still a mystery.

3. Three Words: Ugly. Matching. Sweaters.

4. The entire pack has one designed by Angel personally and almost everybody loves them. Milo pretends not to be offended when he is gifted his sweater that’s two sizes too small. David rarely wears his unless Angel pulls out the puppy dog eyes, which he can never deny pleasing. Baaabe and Asher wear theirs religiously, even if it’s the dead heat of summer.

Gamer/Streamer!Inumaki loves video games no matter the genre. However, he tends to prefer games that have a pvp aspect or are competitive due to the skill he holds towards these games. For example, Fortnite, Valorant, Mario Kart, etc.

Gamer/Streamer!Inumaki always has Minecraft running in the background when gaming, so he can quickly switch to it if needed.

Gamer/Streamer!Inumaki likes to mine the most in Minecraft. When he's not doing that, he's either exploring or killing off mobs. ( Building is NOT his specialty )

There was a small winter storm a week ago that caused my work to close and yet I spent the morning shoveling roughly 7.5 inches of snow from my apartment driveway so I can get to work (before I was told to not come in) and so my brother can get home...it resulted in sore muscles all over, so this comic has a bit of truth to it

Cade E Cherrypop! (Normal/Ruined)

My love for sentient entertainment animatronics is one that will forever remain unshaken. Cade E Cherrypop is the sentient android mascot of Cade E Arcade! (Thx to the new chibi preset by @sdmsims, another little mascot will be along shortly as a friend)

After society collapses due to a zombie-apocalypse-plus, the arcade falls into ruin, and Cade E eventually reawakens in the ruins in her second withered form, sun-bleached, dirty and damaged.

Xelleen Wisher

Xelleen Wisher's a gaming streamer in this world's analog to Twitch! Despite his anxiety disorder, he does his best to put up an optimistic and energetic persona for his audience. He really loves cute things, especially cats and small collectibles! He's also very, very good at videogames, dabbling in speed runs and challenge runs.

Xelleen was created by me as a very positive character. He combines physical traits that are painted as a stereotypical "neckbeard" image (acne, overweightness) with features of the "gamergirl" aesthetic (cute clothes, makeup, lots of pink.) He stands as his own person, defined by neither stereotype.

Ordered as an Incarnate (an Incarnate is a special type of android commissioned to be a real-word version of a fictional character) of somebody's OC, Steelie's shipment was intercepted after the law recognizing android sentience was passed. His company dumped him and his peers on the side of the road near a rural town.

Since he was freed before artificial memories were programmed into him, he doesn't know what character he's intended to be, and he really doesn't WANT to know.

He works at IHopTopic, the compound store that exists because in this universe, IHop and Hot Topic had some sort of business deal from hell that led to a combined location.

(Between you and me, his design SOMEBODY's fannon ship child OC, but I won't say more than that, nor do the medias his parents are from exist irl.)

Apex Zombie who's territory spans an entire abandoned city. It's antenna syncs up to the abandoned traffic cams, giving it eyes all over the urban ruins. As a side effect, the old digital billboards flicker to life in monochromatic imagery when it approaches.

🥪 Introducing... Door2Door! 🥪

Door2Door stars twenty year old possum Gigi Dempster, who lives in a rather ramshackle, podunk town in Vermont called Bendersville. After sending numerous job applications all over town with no word back, she finally lands herself a delivery driver position at an unassuming locally-owned sandwich restaurant named Dine 'n Dash. With no prior experience in the art of crafting a mighty fine sandwich or running a delivery route, Gigi is strapped in to experience the whirlwind of a first time food service job firsthand, and in an unpredictable town like Bendersville, quite literally anything can happen.

At last, witness unveiling of my latest project I've spent the last month conceptualizing, Door2Door! What once came about as a silly idea of basing a project after an inner-city delivery driver inspired after a certain gameplay section in Spongebob Squarepants: Revenge of the Flying Dutchman, it has since blossomed into one of my dearest passion projects yet!

Though, before I get into any further detail behind Door2Door and its creation, I must stress— none of the above five images hail from a lost late nineties/early 2000s Cartoon Network show, and if by chance any of them were enough to fool you into thinking they were, then that just means I achieved what I set out for! 💙✨

Now, about a month ago, I'd been watching a retrospective on the critically un-acclaimed Spongebob Squarepants: Revenge of the Flying Dutchman, a game I had growing up. It's important for me to mention that I had seen and personally played the aforementioned gameplay section before, though for some reason seeing it again struck me with a brilliant project idea.

Anyone who's been following me for at least a year knows that I've designed a cavalcade of candied characters for my own arcade game concept, Rascal, and initially my idea for Door2Door— which I also called Project JJ (In reference to the sandwich chain Jimmy John's)— was to give it a plot simple enough to translate into an arcade game.

The idea was that you played as a plucky delivery driver who rides through the streets of a seedy city to deliver a food order to the... er, order-ee. But your progress would be impeded by a fiendish gang of mobster alley cats who are after your sandwiches, so there would have definitely been a large cartoony element to the gameplay loop.

I drew concept art for Door2Door's protagonist, then known as Marcy, though I really wasn't vibing with either drawing. For one, making the protagonist a cat seemed a bit overdone, and I already have a cat character who's name rhymes with Marcy, so that had to go. More so, I also couldn't settle on a good spriting style, which prompted me to rethink the whole project.

Well, there is a general aura of cartooniness to Door2Door, I thought, why not just embrace that vibe whole-heartedly and reshape the project into a long-lost late nineties cartoon?

I did like the idea of having an excuse to drawing more animation cels, though if I was going to make Door2Door into something resembling a cel-animated cartoon, I was prepared to go the full distance in nailing that aesthetic, in the form of how characters are designed and the way I go about drawing each screenshot.

For those unfamiliar with cel animation, essentially it can be described as a traditional form of animation and involves objects— usually characters— being hand-inked and painted on clear celluloid sheets and placed over painted backgrounds.

Above, I've provided a visual for what a standalone 'cel' from Door2Door would look like, coupled with a hand-painted background. When overlaid on top of one another...

... you would get this! This is exactly how cartoons were animated up until the era of digital inking and coloring... but that begs the question. How am I achieving a hand-drawn and painted aesthetic if everything I've shown so far has been drawn digitally?

I have my ways! It involves a lot of studying how individual cels of animation look, and taking note of recurring hallmarks; grainy textures, paint blemishes, drop shadows, etc. Above, I've assembled a small gif of my process in composing a screenshot for Door2Door, from lineart to final product!

So, that all should loosely explain it; Door2Door is what would happen if I were in charge of a late nineties Cartoon Network show, and what you've seen here is merely the beginning. Going forward, I will be posting art of Door2Door's main cast with some additional character information and concept art for each one, though for the time being, enjoy all five art pieces I've supplied for this post— they are perhaps the biggest works of mine yet this year! 💙🏳️‍⚧️✨

LNDS: Kids with MC pt. 2!

Hello hello again! Some of you may have seen my previous post, so now it’s time for the rest of them!! Of course, I’d like to once again thank @goldenstring6123 for their post about the boys as parents; it inspired me to draw and make my own headcanons. Their post mentions Zayne and MC adopting two kids which makes so much sense to me and Xavier and his son… Precious!!! Their writing is amazing and the rest of their content is chef’s kiss so go check out their stuff if you haven’t already!!

MC x Zayne

The older brother has excellent penmanship, a lot better than MC’s and his sister’s

Has the best grades in the school, seen as the model student

He’s a popular guy, friendly with everyone and always lends a hand, but doesn’t let any outing with friends interrupt any time with his family (his sister has to reassure him that yes, it’s fine to miss one of her practices)

He often likes to help whoever is cooking by cutting or washing vegetables and other things

He likes cats, but cats don’t like him

Whenever Zayne is seen eating something sweet, he asks his father how much he’s had (Zayne: “… Some things are only meant to be between my dentist and I.”)

Helps his sister with studying and has amazing lot of patience

The younger sister is a rising star in ice skating!

Whenever she visits Zayne with MC and her brother, she always leaps into his arms, even when he’s having a conversation with his colleagues; his coworkers see firsthand how sweet and fatherly Zayne can be…

She has poor eyesight and uses contact lenses; doesn’t like wearing her glasses very much

She’s Zayne’s dealer for sweets and is happy to be rewarded with a loving head pat

Often asks others to tie her hair up for her, Zayne is really good at braiding now

LOVES bandages that have cute designs on them and puts them on her fingers even without any injuries, causes Zayne to worry before being told it’s for fashion

Likes to go shopping with MC, whether it be for fun stuff or regular things needed around the house

MC x Xavier

Has to be stopped from getting all the plushies from the arcade, though he does give a lot of them out to other arcade goers

One of his most prized possessions is a telescope that MC gifted him, he often brings his parents to look at the stars with him

Animals LOVE him; there’s been many times when he’s been approached by deer or rabbits on camping trips

A surprisingly good cook, thinks its funny that Xavier can’t

Sees Xavier napping and often joins him; MC has many pictures of the two of them together

Likes to take photos, but the subject matter seems to be pretty random (“Little star, why did you take a photo of the back of my head?”)

Often has mismatched socks

Reads comics/manga, but doesn’t watch a lot of tv

Has a stuffed rabbit sewn from his childhood blanket, it still presides on his bed as he grows older

Likes to wear casual clothing, isn’t too happy when he has to wear a suit for an event

If brought to headquarters, wants to help everyone by bringing them snacks or drinks; everyone just thinks its cute to see him run around

Calls Tara “auntie”

Of course, when he does start to train, he shows a lot of promise

Welcome to the Ghost Pals au!

So we got some goofy guys here, Time to meet the main cast now that it’s actually my birthday!

First up is a new face! Please make her feel welcome :3

Key’s is the dayshift the dayshift employee, taking the place of Jack. She is based off the Australian finger lime which has a caviar looking inside as well as a spiked point on the end, both elements worked into her design.

She actually quite likes performing with the animatronics due to her enjoyment of music. Key’s seemingly doesn’t like talking about her life outside of Freddys or her past to anyone. I wonder what it is.

Key’s doesn’t particularly love Freddys but did used to go there as kid. She is mostly just there for the paycheck, little does she know about how Freddy’s pays their employees.

Oh dear she found out… I’m sure it’ll be fine as long as she didn’t sign the contract- hm looks like she did oh well.

On to the next goober, a classic!

David’s the assistant manager for the location, he’s been moved from location to location due to causing accidents for all his previous managers. He’s on his last warning so let’s hope theres no issues this time ;)

Onto the next character in the walls of Freddys

Wowzas look at this lil chaotic kidoo

Jannette came to Freddys on her birthday but got mixed up and joined another certain party group. She became one of the children in the missing kids incident however she has no memory of the event which is probably for the best, I dont think she needs that on her mind.

She haunts the kids cove and creates it into her world of play, quite literally at times.

She plays games and tricks with another being in the restaurant.

And look theres the other being!

The ghost phone cat is back again!

Stevm’s comfy outfit was made through him mix and matching clothes.

He doesn’t think fully alot of the time and tries to just have fun similar to Jannettes attitude with a lack of moral compass. Stevm also has memory issues due to a combination of the phone ai when he was alive and the perception of time in the flipside.

Stevm is rather chaotic neutral and haunts the arcade, he likes pulling pranks and spooking people for the fun of it.

The whole things takes place in 1999 and I can clarify any related dates as I have some headcanoned ones that I dont think are the same as the canon. Except the missing kids incident, that still takes place in 1985.

Well thats the main cast! I hope you like them so far, been workin hard on em and making them work together.

The storyline will be a mix of text posts and images but you all are welcome to interact with them (most likely non canonically)

Tanooki Donkey Kong?

The NEW Mario Bros. Movie was fun but one thing that stuck out in my mind was how they seemingly implemented an older design of Donkey Kong into their new look for Donkey Kong!

It’s pretty subtle but it’s there! I’m a HUGE fan old old Nintendo art so this was a luvly change for me. As much as I love the Modern and SNES Donkey Kong I would welcome Retro/NEW Donkey Kong. That being said another odd but great thing the NEW Mario Bros. Movie did was GIVE DONKEY KONG FIRE FLOWER POWERS?!?! We have NEVER seen Donkey Kong with any Mario power ups! 

This movie chose to use a wide spread of Nintendo lore from so many games. Then out of no where they take an original route and let Donkey Kong use the fire flower?! (I know Peach used the ice flower and her wedding dress changed but that’s a bit more in the canon direction) Outside the Brooklyn stuff, I'd say Fire Donkey Kong was the most original thing this movie did!  

Naturally when I saw Fire Donkey Kong I HAD to make the other power-ups! I wanted to use the old school Donkey Kong design as a jump off point. As I googled images for references I realized the internet, as it does, had already pumped out it’s fair share of ideas. I had seen many renditions of simple power ups but not that many original Tanooki Suits! Which was perfect because that was my first choice. So I poured all my efforts into that! 

The modern Tanooki Suit has morphed into the Super Leaf Power-up. The Super Leaf gives Mario, Peach and Toad the Tanooki Suit as we know but Luigi gets his own Yellow Fox suit!

There’s not much official art of Fox Luigi so I used the image above and made the image below! (and above)

The Super Leaf for Donkey Kong follows the same design mechanics as Mario and Luigi using Japanese mythology... (I took artistic liberties for Fox Luigi and made his statue form a lucky cat!)

Mario:

Furry Form: Tanuki (Raccoon Dog)

A Tanuki is a type of raccoon dog found in Japan and often depicted in folklore. The mythical version of this creature can shapeshift into anything. (if it looks like in the picture below that the raccoon has huge balls... it’s because it does... google that lore yourself) One of Nintendo’s prominent references to the Tanuki is Tom Nook of Animal Crossing. Where he uses his magic to transform furniture into leaves!

Stone Form: Daigan Jizō Bosatsu

The stone form resembles Kṣitigarbha, the protector of travelers and the guardian of souls, who is known as Daigan Jizō Bosatsu in Japan. 

Luigi:

Furry Form: Kitsune (Fox)

In Japanese folklore, Kitsune are foxes that have paranormal abilities including the ability to shapeshift into human form. The more tails a Kitsune has (they may have as many as nine) the older, wiser, and more powerful it is. Nintendo has featured this creature before in games like Zelda and Pokémon. Most directly noted is Ninetales, the 9 tailed fox Pokémon,

Stone Form: Lucky Cat

The stone form resembles Maneki-Neko AKA Lucky Cat! It’s a common Japanese figurine which is often believed to bring good luck to the owner.

(in official games Luigi doesn’t turn into this but I took some artistic liberty here)

Donkey Kong:

Furry Form: Komainu (Lion Dog)

Komainu often called Lion-Dogs, are a pair of Lion-like creatures who guard the entrance to Japanese shrines. They usually only appear in pairs but it felt right to use this for Donkey Kong.

Stone Form: Komainu (Lion Dog) / Donkey Kong Arcade Art

The stone form is a combination of the Lion Dog statue and classic artwork from the Donkey Kong arcade. The statues are usually depicted with a ball or cub under one paw. Representing the world or the cycle of life. I replaced that ball with a classic barrel look from the arcade.

Hello! Sorry this took my so long, ive been in a writing slump. I had to rewatch Tokyo revengers for a refresher, so hopefully I didn’t misinterpret them!

1st Runner Up… Chifuyu Matsuno!

I think Chifuyu would be an amazing match for you! He’s an easygoing and understanding guy, which I think is exactly what you need when things get for you overwhelming. chifuyu has an extremely strong sense of loyalty 😭,and I can 100% see him being your rock during tough times. He would NEVER judge you for needing reassurance or comfort, and honestly? He’d probably be the one to initiate cuddles first.

Mitsuya is your second-best matchup, and let me tell you, this man is an ABSOLUTE sweetheart. He’s gentle, patient, and incredibly thoughtful, which makes him such a good match for you. (love him sm) He’d be someone who understands when you need quiet time but also knows how to get you out of your head when needed. And hes also super responsible, so he’d make sure you don’t push yourself too hard. Also, can we talk about the fashion? He’s a little chaotic but in a way that i think would complement your personality once you get comfortable. He’s protective in his own way and wouldn’t let anyone mess with you. While he can come off as intimidating, once he’s close to someone, he’s ridiculously affectionate. the type of boyfriend to tease you constantly 🤭 but also be the first to defend you if anyone even has the slightest amount of aggression towards you.

Pro: idk i honestly feel like he’d be touchy 😭 and sincee, If you like physical affection, he’s got you covered. Con: He’s a menace when it comes to teasing, be prepared for some playful debates :)

Oh, I personally think Baji is your perfect match. He’s chaotic but caring, protective but soft for his girl. i think baji would adore how kind and generous you are, evennn though he’s a little rough around the edges, he would always make sure you’re okay. He’s the type to watch over you without making it obvious (he’d get so embarrassed if you call him out on it) like making sure no one gets in your space when you’re overstimulated. Baji may not always say what he’s thinking, but his actions would speak volumes.

Fuck it! Here's an Tron art dump.

This is an au I have in my head were Sam snuck in to the grid behind Flynn Back. ( Aka Sam fallow his dad to the arcade and the grid) But when Sam got there the betrayal was al really on its way so Sam had to go on the run ( yea Flynn never knew Sam fallow him. So he thinks that he's safe in the user world.) Sam found his way to argon to hide from the occupation. Beck found Sam behind a dumpster and from then on Beck friends Sam like a cat. Through the whole thing Beck just thinks that Sam is just a really small program. Tron freak the fu$k out when he finds out. ( I'm tempted to write a fan fic of this. I haven't finished the other like but I have it under Becks per user.)

This might revel how much of a degenerate that I really am. But I drew Tron if he served cu#t. But to be serious this was an idea I had for a costume for Halloween. The sad part is I came up with this idea after Halloween. I also got Astra Yo in zenless zone zero when I drew this and it did influence how I made her design.

In my head my female Tron name is still Tron because in my head she would be called Tron regardless because female Alan ( I'm calling her Addie) thought the name was cool. Her nickname is Trish, but only her friends call her that. She got the nickname from female Flynn ( who I'm calling Katherine) when she was complaining that her name was to masculine. It the same thing for my male Yori ( when I made a design for him) but the reasoning behind it is the same reason people describe boats and other inanimate objects as she. His nickname is Yu. I have other gender swap Tron idea but I don't wanna ramble more

This explains it's self. I've been getting into devil's my cry and zenless zone zero recently ( it's mostly devil may cry) so my brain gotta crossover my like. (I also redesign the way a draw Flynn a little bit and I'm happy with it. )

It's doesn't help that my brain convinced itself that Dante is Flynn but a different flavor of trauma and experience. It doesn't help that I've seen what Dante looks in DMC 5 and for some reason looked like Jeff Bridges to me but hear be out both silly ( at times) worn a red jackets of some kind. Both business owners ( Flynn being a better one), both neon signs enthusiast... Both franchise have a red vs blue color scheme.. Their evil " twin" have their hair slick back..... ( I could make a joke that Clu lacks the motivation)

Anyway they probably got isekai because Flynn passed a powerful being off and Tron is roped up into it. Flynn might be cursed to becoming a werewolf if were taking about devil may cry...

Thought If you think about it's Flynn is already an isekai protagonist, but instead of getting hit by Trunk- kun he gets hit by Trunk-kun distance cousin Lazer - kun

This one, contrary to that cat paw I've posted previously, really felt like I was just sort of tossing things together. But even despite that, I really enjoyed the heck out of the process of this mend, bit by bit making art out of something that's been bothering me.

Step one: get those holes to hole-d still! Threw some whip-stitches onto the fabric to get these three little cat-pokes to no longer expand through the fabric. Did this with some leftover scraps of light-purple thread from an earlier project we've seen around here, the finger guns mask! We don't quite know it at this point, but that color choice is going to make a lot of fuss later.

After a bit of digging around in RSN Stitchbank, I found an interesting pattern that I thought would be super fun to execute here, called the wild goose chase stitch: https://rsnstitchbank.org/stitch/wild-goose-chase-stitch So, following the pattern, we first lay down the blue stitching (counting rows of stitches in the tshirt instead of canvas openings).

Then, after a good little bit of fuss to get all those stitches to align Just So^tm over the hole, (seriously, it was a lot of wrangling horizontal stitches where they'd fit as anchoring points, knotting the vertical stitches in place so they'd fit right, etc, etc) since they didn't really have fabric to anchor in for a little bit there, we wound up with the purple stitching looking like so (quite good, I'd say, given I was improvising this while waiting in line at the DMV!), not quite perfectly saving that arrowed effect for one batch, but not half bad either.

Lastly but certainly not leastly for the wild goose chase here, we've got a third set of stitches, in a lovely pink color this time! But, trouble abounds, I measured completely wrong when setting this stitch up, there's still two more holes that need covering! Whatever shall I do?

Enter a very useful new tool we'll be seeing a lot of in future mends: dissolvable backing! This simply self-adheres to the fabric, and washes away quite easily with nothing more than water. The longer I was looking at the wild-goose chase stitch, wondering what I could put over the two holes, I honestly felt that the texture would fit right in along the border in a tetris arcade game.

So, I landed on a design that looks like a t-piece from everyone's favorite falling block game! First up, some simple black outline stitches, to make sure that the form makes sense as a tetris piece to the passing eye. Much, MUCH easier with the drawn-on guidelines here, even despite the pleasing geometric shape of tetrominos, I'm not sure that I could have nailed the stitch placement quite so nicely without the help of the dissolvable backing.

With the addition of some dark purple satin stitching, we've got a T tetromino! I haven't grabbed a good shot of this after it went into the wash, but I promise, the backing dissolved just fine after heading into the laundry. We'll be seeing a lot of that backing for future mends, it's super handy, especially for sashiko prep!
