After high school, a lot of you and your friends parted ways, went on to do your own things. You kept in touch with a few of them, making sure to show your support by liking and commenting on their insta posts and what not.

You were packing up from your trip to Hawaii, you were in dire need of a vacation, so you figured coming to one of your favorite places in the whole world would help.

And it did.

You took a break from packing your suitcase, sitting down and clicking Instagram open. You really didn’t want to return home, you absolutely loved it here.

As you’re swiping through stories, you stop on Nick’s, furrowing your brows as you see the location he has marked. You swipe up to reply to his story, NICOLAS STURNIOLO!! You’re in Maui!? Like right now???

You stand up, packing back and forth as you wait for his reply. You haven’t seen Nick, or his brothers since graduation. You kept in touch, but never actually got to see or hang out with them like you had wanted to.

You bring your phone up as it buzzes in your hand and you smile at his response, I AM! WAIT! YOU’RE IN HONOLULU???

You tap the screen, replying with a smile, I’m leaving today, but I’ll come over! I miss you guys!

The chat bubbles pop up instantly, Yes!! I’ll let the guys know!

You quickly finish packing and make your way to the airport. Your original flight leaves at five, it was eleven, so you had a few hours to spare.

You made your way on the plane, and in a little under an hour, you were getting off in Maui. You messaged Nick, letting him know you landed and that you were on your way to their hotel.

As you got out, you stopped when you see Nick jogging over to you. He laughs as he pulls you in for a hug, “Oh my god, hi!”

“Hi!” You hug him, “Oh my gosh, what are the chances of this?” You lean back, laughing as you hug him again, “This is crazy!”

“I didn’t even know you were here. What are you doing here?” He slings his arm over your shoulder as you walk inside. You let out a sigh, “I needed a vacation, I was getting to that point of feeling burnt out, couldn’t come up with any ideas on what videos to do, so I decided that a solo vacay vlog would do for now.”

“That’s literally why we’re here, too.” Nick shakes his head, “Small world. Um, real quick..”

You furrow your brows, “Yeah?”

“Are you and Chris alright?”

His question throws you off, “What-“ you laugh, “What do you mean?”

He shrugs, “When I told him you were flying over to see us before you left, he kinda got all weird and quiet, I wasn’t sure if you guys, I don’t know, maybe something happened and you just didn’t tell anyone or..”

“No.” You shake your head, “at least, I don’t think anything happened. Last I knew we were good. He liked my Instagram post yesterday.” You shrug, “Maybe he just needed a nap?”

Nick laughs, “Yeah, probably. We’ve been go go go since we got here.”

“Isn’t a vacation supposed to be relaxing?” You tilt your head and Nick sighs, “Clearly you’ve never vacationed with the Sturniolo’s before.”

You let out a laugh, “Right, right.”

“You can put your bags in here, they’re down at the beach right now.” Nick motions, “So we can go down and meet them there if you want.”

You nod, “Yeah, I can change into my suit quick.” You set your bag on the bed and unzip it, pulling out your swimsuit, “I’ll be right out.”

Nick nods and you walk into the bathroom to change.

After coming out, you make your way down to the beach, and Matt immediately runs over, “Look who it is!” He wraps his arms around your neck, “Long time no see, huh?”

You laugh, hugging him back, “Yeah, yeah, sorry.”

“No, it’s okay.” He laughs, “How have you been?”

You give him the same rundown you gave Nick on your way into the hotel and he nods, “Yeah, that why we’re here, too.”

“That’s what Nick said.” You laugh, eyes moving to look at Chris who’s down by the water, “Is he not coming up to say hi?”

Matt shrugs, looking at Nick, “He said he’ll be up in a minute. We just talked about going for lunch, you wanna come?”

You check your phone, “My flight home leaves at five, so I have until about three thirty?” You look at Matt, “So yeah, I have about three hours or so.”

He nods, turning around to yell for Chris, “Chris! Let’s go!” He nods, turning to walk up towards the three of you, but he doesn’t stop. He keeps walking, making his way to the hotel.

“What’s with him?” Nick scoffs, “He could have said hi. Y/n said they’re cool, I don’t understand him.”

“I’ll ask him.” Matt nods, “I’ll see if I can find anything out.”

As you make your way back up to the hotel, your mind swirls with questions on why Chris is acting so weird towards you. You were fine, or at least you thought you were.

It was almost like he hates the idea of you being there, like your presence is ruining his vacation.

After stopping at the room to change, you make your way to the restaurant within the hotel, sitting down at a table outside. An hour into lunch and Chris has maybe said a handful of words, towards Nick and Matt mostly.

He didn’t even look at you, or so you thought. He would glance at you when you weren’t looking, but he would always look away before he thought you were going to look at him.

“So when do you guys leave to go back home?” You ask, leaning back in your seat as you take a sip of your drink.

“End of the week.” Nick sigh, “I don’t want to.”

“Yeah, I’ve thought about buying a house here, just staying here for as long as we can.” Matt laughs, “They have a house right down the road that’s for sale, and I’m so tempted to go look at it.”

“Wouldn’t be a bad idea.” You shrug, “Every time I come here I get like.. what is it? Post vacation depression but it starts right before I leave. It’s like my body knows that I’m leaving the good place and going back to hell or something.”

Nick and Matt laugh and Chris shakes his head, reaching forward to grab a drink.

“So Chris.” You smile as you look at him, “How’s your sunburn?”

He looks over at Nick, “Dude, my sunburn is my business.”

Nick scoffs, “Please, your arms are redder than that lobster on that plate over here.” He points, “Anyone can guess you’re not good at putting sunscreen on.”

Chris rolls his eyes, “Whatever.”

“What is wrong with you? Did you put the party pooper shorts on today by accident or something, because your attitude is getting really annoying.” Matt stares at Chris and Chris stands up, “I’m going upstairs.”

You watch as he walks away and you look between Matt and Nick, “Is it me? I feel like it’s me.”

“I think he’s just tired, he was up at the ass crack of dawn ready to go bogey boarding.” Nick shakes his head with a laugh, “I really don’t think it’s you.”

“Was he like this before? Maybe I should just go back to catch my flight early or something, I don’t want him ruining your guys moods.”

“You don’t have to do that.” Matt shakes his head, “We haven’t seen you in almost four years, it’s nice actually talking to someone we actually liked from highschool.”

You laugh with a nod, “Literally. Almost everyone else is ridiculous.”

“Did you see that Kyra got engaged to Lowen?” Nick leans in, his eyes widening as you nod, “I did see that! You know, in school, she uses to make fun of him all the time about being in band. She swore she would never date someone who played an instrument, she said it was too geeky.”

“She’s always been stuck up.” Matt mumbles, “I used to have a crush on her, but the longer I didn’t say anything, the more of a bitch I realized she was. I don’t know how you were friends with her.”

“She wasn’t a bitch to me.” You shrug with a laugh, “She hosted good sleepovers, her mom used to let us drink wine coolers.”

Nick and Matt laugh, “Maybe that’s why Chris is mad.” Nick snorts, “He didn’t get to play dress up and drink wine coolers.”

“Doubt that.” You laugh harder, letting out a sigh, “Maybe I’ll shoot him a message after I leave, talk to him then.”

You eventually lost track of time as you reminisced the high school days with the two, talking about the dances, the sports, and everything in between.

By the time you remembered to check the time, it was too late.

“Shit.” You sigh, “I’ll never make my flight now.” You set your phone on the table and Nick frowns, “Can’t say I’m sad about that.” He laughs, stopping to attempt at being serious, “Sorry, we didn’t mean to keep you longer than you wanted. Do they have anymore tonight or do you have go wait until tomorrow?”

You check the flight page and shake your head, “Next one is two days from now. They’re booked until then, but it’s fine. I’m not mad about it.” You laugh as you book the next flight, “Looks like I’m stuck in Hawaii with you guys.”

Matt claps his hands together, pointing his pointer fingers at you, “You get two more days of vacation time.”

Nick let’s out a laugh, “Chris should love this.”

The sun was setting and you found yourself down on the beach with Nick, “I feel like Chris hates me. I don’t even know what I did or what I could have done.”

“Maybe it’s because we haven’t seen you in three years.” He shrugs, “I know it was hard for me, you were literally my best friend in school.”

“You’re going to make me cry.” You lay a hand over your mouth and he pulls you into his side, “No, don’t do that. I’ll throw you in the ocean if you start doing that shit.”

You laugh as you sit up, “Please don’t do that. The ocean at night scares me.”

“All the more reason for you to not cry then.” He jokes, looking behind him, “Oh here comes Matt. Maybe he found out why Chris is being such an ass.”

Matt sits down next to you, “He won’t talk to me. He’s lying down, on his phone. He just kept telling me to go away.”

“Maybe he’s looking for a sooner flight.” Nick scoffs, “He’d do us a favor with getting that attitude off the island.”

“He was on TikTok.” Matt shrugs, “I don’t know.”

You look out at the water and gasp, “Shit. I forgot to see if they had any rooms available.” You groan, “I guess I better go do that.”

As you stand up, Matt speaks up, “I figure you could bunk with Nick. I moved your bags into his room. I’ll just take one for the team and share with Chris.”

You look at Nick, as he looks from Matt to you, “Is that okay with you?”

He nods, “Yeah, of course it’s okay with me. Room 22.”

You smile, “Thank you.”

You make your way up to the hotel and walk into the room. You make your way over to your bags and rummage through to get out your sleepwear.

As you turn around, Chris comes out of the bathroom, towel around his waist, and stops, “What are you doing in my room?”

“This is room 22 right?” Your eyes fight to stay on his face, “I missed my flight and Nick said I could stay with him.”

As soon as you finished speaking, you realized that this was a set up. Speaking at the same time as Chris, “Of course he did.”

You let out a sigh, “Well, good. Maybe I can figure out why you’re making it seem like I’m ruining your vacation by being here.”

He doesn’t say anything. He just walks over to his bag and pulls out a pair of sweats, turning to disappear back into the bathroom. You take a deep breath and turn around, pushing down your shorts and swim bottoms to change into your pajama shorts.

As you pull your shirt up over your head, the bathroom door opens, followed by the main door to the room and it closes behind him.

You untie your swim top, throwing it down and slipping on a t-shirt. You walk over to the door, listening to the muffled knocking on Matt’s door.

After a few knocks, the door of Chris’ room swings open and he stops, locking eyes with you for a split second before walking in past you, “I’ll just sleep on the floor.”

“You don’t have to do that. We can share the bed, Chris.” You cross your arms and he ignores you, “Chris.” You walk over to him and he walks away, moving to plop down on the bed and continue scrolling on his phone.

“I’ll sleep on the floor, if it’s that big of a deal to you.” You roll your eyes as you grab a pillow from the bed and toss it to the floor. You hear Chris sigh before he turns his head, “Just, lay down.”

You look from him to the floor, bending down to pick up the pillow and you lay it back on the bed. You sit down with your phone, adding both Nick and Matt to a group chat, You could have let me in on your little plan you know.

Nick texts back, Good luck!

Matt replies after Nick with a bunch of laughing faces, Sorry, I wasn’t sure if you’d bite onto it or not.

You roll your eyes, setting your phone down onto the nightstand, “I’m going for a shower.”

“Okay? You don’t need to tell me what you’re doing.” Chris mumbles and you sigh, “Right.” You get up, making your way to the bathroom for a shower.

Once you come out, Chris is sitting up against the headboard, eyes glued to the tv that’s on the wall. You don’t even bother saying anything, you just drop your towel down by your bag and sit back down on the bed.

You kick your feet up on it, watching at the screen plays whatever show he’s watching, “So, I-“

“If I just say I’m happy to see you, will you stop trying to dig at something you clearly don’t care about?” He looks over at you and you sit up, “um, please elaborate on what I clearly don’t care about.”

He shake his head, looking back at the tv.

“I thought we were good, but apparently I did something to you and I’m not sure what, but I’d like to know so I can at least try to make up for it.” You turn towards him and he ignores you.

“Fine.” You lay down, pulling the blankets over and Chris yells slightly, “Whoa, hey. We need to share that, you know?”

“Oh, sorry. Guess there isn’t much that I do know.”

You hear him scoff and he yanks the blanket back over, pinning it under his leg so you can’t pull it anymore.

As you lay there scrolling on your phone, you think of random reasons as to why Chris could possibly be mad at you, “Is it because I told your lacrosse coach you weren’t actually sick that one day?”

“No.”

“Is it because I missed your lacrosse game?”

“Nothing to do with lacrosse.” He mumbles and you nod, “Hmm, okay. Well you might as well tell me because I’m not going to stop until I know why you’re mad at me.”

“You’re annoying.”

“So are you.” You shoot back, “Um, is it because-“

“I’m going to bed.” Chris turns out the light and shuffles around to get comfy. You sigh, continuing to scroll.

After a few minutes of nothing but the tv quietly playing in the background, you turn your head, “Do I make you nervous?”

“What?” Chris asks, sounding surprised you’d even ask that.

“Are you nervous around me or something, is that why you put on this.. act or something?”

“It’s not an act.” He mumbles, “You-“ he stops, taking a deep breath, “Nothing, just- go to sleep. Please.”

“No. Not until you tell me why you’re acting the way you are towards me. You literally liked my Instagram post two days ago, Chris. What could I have possibly done-“

He sits up and looks at you, “Senior year. I was going to ask you to prom. I was so confident that you’d say yes. I thought you liked me, too. All of the flirting and hanging out we did, I thought we were on the same page, but when you said yes to going with Wes..” he shakes his head, letting out a sigh, “You were good friends with my brothers, and I didn’t want them to lose a friend so I just kept my mouth shut.”

You take a second, processing what he just said. As you open your mouth to speak, he cuts you off, “And to make matters worse, somehow, it got out I was going to ask you, and you let Wes make fun of me in front of everyone. Stupid little Sturniolo is dumb to think he had a chance with you. I hated Wes, and you knew that.”

“So you’re holding a grudge against me over something I did in high school?”

He shrugs, “You call it holding grudges, I call it seeing who you are, and I can’t unsee it.”

“What exactly did you see I was?”

“That you only cared about yourself, surrounded yourself in school with people that made you look good.“ he scoffs, “I tried to let it go, I really did. It was prom, for Christ sake. When I heard you were coming, I knew seeing you in person again would stir up those feelings again because I never told anyone about it.”

You sit there in silence and Chris sighs, his voice, “I didn’t deserve that, and you know it.”

“I did talk to him about it afterwards, Chris. You know how Wes was. He always had to be right, he always had to have people agreeing with him.”

Chris scoffs, “Yeah, okay.”

“I did. I told him that you were my friend and the way he spoke about you wasn’t right. If I did that in front of everyone, he would have made a joke of me, too.”

“I doubt that.” He shakes his head, “You were the princess, senior year. Everyone would have jumped to be friends with you. Be with you. Something.”

You take a deep breath, “Have you seen the year book? Did you take notice as to why there wasn’t any pictures of me on the senior prom page?”

“I didn’t really care to look that hard, if I’m being honest.” He looks over at you and you shrug, “Well, there isn’t. Because I didn’t go to prom.”

“Huh?” He looks at you confused and you nod, “I didn’t want to go with someone who didn’t respect the people I felt were closest to me, but you ignored me for three weeks after, so I should have just gone.”

“I hated you.”

“Hated?” You question, “Seems like you still do.”

“I thought about you.” He pauses, “I hated you because of how often I thought about you. I tried to be happy, I tried to move on, I tried to do everything I could, but somehow, every time I got on Instagram, or tiktok, or whatever it was, I’d see your face right away and it just-“ he groans, “I fell in love with you in high school, I thought you were going to be the one I ended up with and was happy with for the rest of my life.”

You stare at him as he continues going on, “I wanted everything with you. I felt like I played better when you were at my games. I did better in school because you pushed me to do better. I thought you knew I loved you, and I thought you loved me, too. But when you just led me on like that, I-“

look this is really probably unnecessary, but I've seen tons of posts about how everyone is mad about the page that's going to post unmasked pics of the st guys and how outrageously disrespectful it is to them and well... I gotta say that it's just not that deep.

it's been pointed out that they've only ever said that 'their identities aren't important to the music or the story'. and that's it in terms of the "extreme lengths" they go to hide their identities.

i'm a regular follower of the reddit page where their identities are openly discussed and there is a decent amount of evidence that one of them or someone from their team lurks there and plays around a little with that community. ie, a few of the recent "the summoning solo shenanigans" were suggested in that thread and then seen on stage the next show. but who knows.

some of the guys are actually still participating in other media to a small extent. one of them still streams with a friend on twitch often. one of them just put out some older official music project on Spotify. one of them gets his new tattoos posted unmasked on his tattoo artist's page.

look, I'm not saying that this person who plans to bring this stuff to Tumblr shouldn't be warned about and of course everyone should have the opportunity to block and avoid it to keep their experience of the band how they prefer. that's no question how it should be.

but like... everyone is saying that this person who's starting the unmasked blog is like, evil and so disrespectful to the band. and I think that's just not right. it's their right to start whatever kind of page they want. it's everyone else's right to avoid it.

like I said, this is not really going anywhere, and it's not personal, I just have seen so many people bashing that person on a personal level and I just gotta tell someone, it's not that deep. thank you for reading

To me it is that deep, from what i’ve heard there was a major panic on Instagram in 2023 bc freaks were using info on there to harass II and his family. Hell he still alters his voice in videos, which you only do if you’re concerned someone is dedicated enough to scrape the internet with audio of your vocal patterns. I’ve seen video footage of Vessel cussing out a guy at a festival for yelling real names in the audience. There is direct evidence that the band members dislike off-stage info being known and shared, and that a portion of Sleep Token’s fanbase cannot be trusted to respect the secrecy that allows the band members to live comfortable lives relatively peacefully and out of the public eye.

In my personal opinion, your examples of how they’re still on other social media, and that you know that info abt them are reinforcement of my dislike for unmasked data aggregates. Unless the tattoo artist’s posts or the twitch stream is tagged #SleepToken there is probably a reasonable expectation that they don’t want band related attention for those things. Even if somebody does recognize them as the band members, it would be a minority population if it weren’t for subreddits and archives directly connecting dots between those things and Sleep Token, which is presumably why you have that info yourself in the first place.

I started out as a Taekooker, and that was because I spent most of my time on tiktok, Instagram, and YouTube. I had no idea that what I was watching was heavily edited stuff, and most of the edits even Incude fake text. Stuff that neither Tae nor Jungkook even said. I was so convinced the edits were real. Then, somehow, I stumbled upon jikook videos. My stomach sank, there was something, I felt something but I couldn't explain it. It was a gut feeling. I, however, didn't want to admit Jikook was real. So I gave up on shipping all together. Then, one day, I stumbled upon a Jikook analysis on YT. Then GFC in Tokyo. That was a done deal for me. I went back to the edited videos of Taekook, researched original content, and realized it's all been lies. On that day, I gave up Taekook, and don't get me wrong. I love their friendship. I just gave up on the possibility of them being a couple. But after GCF in Tokyo, Saipan, and Are you sure (this is just to name a few). There is plenty of evidence pointing at them as the real deal. I 1000% believe Jikook is the real couple.

Many fans were first introduced to shipping through heavily manipulated videos shared on YouTube and other platforms by Taekookers. When new fans join the fandom, they often turn to YouTube to learn more about the members, and the algorithm is very effective at pushing Taekook edits their way, making them hard to avoid. While Taekookers may lack in many areas, they excel at editing videos to push a particular narrative.

For years, Taekookers relied on those tactics to sustain their theories, even when there was little to no interaction between Taehyung and Jungkook. Ironically, they now claim to hate (or pretend to hate) company content, yet for years, company content was the only way they could see Taekook interact. They would overanalyze and sensationalize every small interaction captured in official content because they had no other material to work with. The solo era atleast for the first time helped them take a little break from making up numerous outings and sightings of Taekook lol.

Taekookers are also master storytellers. They skillfully weave angst into their narratives, as it seems to resonate deeply with their audience. Their recurring theme often portrays two helpless individuals, deeply in love but trapped in a homophobic society, suppressed by a company intent on keeping them apart. One of them, they claim, is forced into unwanted fanservice with another member, while the other suffers silently, watching in pain. Stories like these evoke strong emotions, draw people in, and create a sense of duty to “support their love.” Many Taekookers are simply misguided, and those who direct their hatred at Jimin often do so because they genuinely believe he is an obstacle or even malicious….beliefs fueled by manipulative YouTube videos and the indoctrination of their “cult leaders.”

When people describe Taekookers as cult-like, they’re not exaggerating. Many behave as though they’ve been brainwashed. Whenever an outsider or even a BTS member says or does something that could challenge the reality of Taekook, they immediately create excuses, even going as far as calling them liars. What’s most baffling is that none of them seem to step back and question these contradictions. For instance, the entire Taekooker community firmly believes that, in documentaries showing moments when Jungkook was ill or injured, the company deliberately prevented Taehyung from being by his side and instead sent Jimin to “feed shippers.” They genuinely believe this and even provide so-called “proof.” It’s remarkable how quickly they come up with new ways to reinforce their beliefs, even twisting narratives or calling Tae and Jungkook themselves liars when their version of events doesn’t align. This is how they’ve coped for years, and much of it stems from YouTube and manipulated edits.

In contrast, those who believe there may be something more between Jimin and Jungkook tend to approach things more logically. And I’m not saying this just because I’m a Jikooker. Taekook is easy to fall into. Their interactions are light, straightforward, and wholesome…there’s nothing particularly complex about them (beyond the complications added by shippers). Their behavior doesn’t align with the dramatic, secretive love story Taekookers promote. There’s no visible panic, hesitation, or anything that suggests they’re hiding something. Taekook’s dynamic is effortless, which is one of the main reasons I’ve never believed there was anything romantic between them.

Jikook, on the other hand, is far more nuanced and layered. Their interactions are filled with complexities and subtleties that require experience and logical thinking to fully grasp. When you consider their circumstances and everything they’ve likely endured over the years, their dynamic and actions make so much sense. It feels deeper and more meaningful. Personally, while I’m not 100% certain that Jikook are a couple, I’m certain their relationship..whatever it may be, hasn’t always been purely platonic.

The My Tears Ricochet Deep Dive

While this song obviously has a clear reference to Taylor’s masters being sold to Scooter Braun in November 2019, I don’t think that’s the full story being told here.

When she released Folklore, Taylor shared via Instagram that “My Tears Ricochet” is about an “embittered tormentor showing up at the funeral of his fallen object of obsession.”

Now, why is she fallen? Because her work has been taken from her. Okay, one question answered. ✅

Now, who is the “embittered tormentor obsessed” with Taylor? Scooter Braun, of course…But see, I actually don’t think it’s that simple. I get why that’s the obvious first choice, though.

(Back story for new kids who don’t know why Scoots is trash: In July 2016, Taylor was outcast and called a snake due to a leaked phone call by Kim Kardashian and her then-husband Kanye West. Scooter was Kanye’s manager. Then Kanye put out the video of the song in question from the call—featuring a naked Taylor lookalike. Then Justin Bieber posted that video to Instagram with a photo showing him on a video call with Scooter and Kanye. The caption said, “Taylor Swift what up.” So, they’re all three supreme douche-canoes of the highest order).

However, I think Scooter’s top priority (as always) in buying Taylor’s masters was simply to make money. And if he pissed her off while doing so, that was probably a delightful bonus. But I wouldn’t say he bought her masters because he was obsessed with her. This deal was nearly three years later, and nothing had popped off between the camps in the interim.

I have more on this tormentor/obsessor/muse, concept; but first, back to Folklore. Upon its release, Taylor also revealed in a YouTube livechat that it was the first song she wrote for the album. And that leads me into a bit of timing discussion.

I think Folklore was the result of a few seismic events in Taylor’s life: a run-in with Harry at Ed’s wedding in December 2018 (which I think helped to spawn his second solo album, Fine Line); followed by talking to him during early quarantine in March 2020 in Los Angeles when the Lover tour got postponed and then cancelled; the pandemic itself pushing her, like many of us, into some serious introspection; and, of course, the sale of her masters to Scooter in 2019.

Since this is the very first song Taylor wrote that ended up on Folklore, my speculation is that perhaps it was penned in those first couple of days of the pandemic, before she reconnected with Harry in LA.

Fine Line would have been newly released—just three months prior—and on her birthday no less.

Which leads me back to the tormentor and obsessor. You know what I might find tormenting, if I were Taylor? If I’d been waiting for this one guy to grow the fuck up for years and then (perhaps after we ran into each other at our good friends’ wedding?), he confessed to me that he still wanted me but, even at 25, he still didn’t have his shit together (please see, “Renegade,” “To Be So Lonely,” and “Peter”).

Then, after I piece myself back together following snake gate, some epic twat who bullied me online back then buys my work out from under me from the guy I thought I had a good working relationship with (Scott Borchetta) and while I’m dealing with that bullshit my ex I’m still pining for releases album on my birthday with songs seemingly about us and how he still wants me.

Yeah, that’d have me plenty tormented. And feeling like, since his first album was also quite “a tip of the cap” to me (his words) as well that, yeah, someone was a little obsessed with me.

So, anyway, the lyrics:

Does this sound like someone talking to either a bully or a former business associate? To me it sounds like a very messy, very difficult, former lover.

I can see how people could think this was about Scott, but not Scooter. But T herself said this whole thing was about one muse: The embittered obsessor attending her funeral.

Anyway, my take: it’s a lover she couldn’t let go of easily, so it ended messy.

And now he’s out promoting an album full of songs about them, pretending it’s not, because he’s a gentleman. But while he’s acting like she’s nothing to him, they both know what he said to her in private, and what those songs are really about, and no matter how much she cries and waits and wants him to grow up and come get her he just can’t — or won’t.

This is a Biblical allusion to Ecclesiastes 3:5: “A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing.” I think she’s referring here to an idea revisited again in “loml,” that she thought she’d be safer and maybe get the life she wanted with someone more stable, versus being in a relationship that left her starry eyed, like she was with Harry…and that’s how she wound up with Joe for six years.

It also seems to include a tie to “Peter” with “I’m never coming back down,” as compared to “I didn’t want to come down.”

It certainly doesn’t seem like anything you’d say to someone like Scooter. Why would she ever want to talk to him at all?

2020 VoicePlay spring roundup — trying times and trying new things

The world faced many sudden, dramatic changes in early 2020, and VoicePlay was no exception. The entertainment industry as a whole was hit hard when live performances and film sets were shut down all at once.

Being the adaptable folks they are, the VP guys quickly shifted their production process. They actually had a bit of an advantage, since they already recorded most of their vocals in their home studios. The logistics of filming videos proved trickier, but they implemented their vast creativity to find ways to keep bringing the fun.

From a distance

Once the guys had sorted out some of their plans for the immediate future, they decided to try a livestreamed hangout on YouTube. The technical aspects were a little rough, but it was nice to see them in a casual setting until they could finish producing new music.

Virtual adventure

The next day brought the release of two very different collaborations. One was a slow jam about biomes and their inhabitants from JamSchooled featuring J.None. The other was Thomas Sanders's latest production with PattyCake, which combined his flair for the melodramatic with their ability to create big fantastical visuals.

Getting homey

Like many of us, the Jacobsons leaned into the domesticity of being home so much more than normal. Eli served as Ashley's cinematographer for a baking video on her Instagram. She has recently removed it, but the end results look tasty.

Since the official government guidance allowed people to designate small groups ("bubbles") for limited in-person contact, the Steins were able to have uncle Tony over for their annual Passover seder as usual.

VoicePlay did figure out a way to make new videos together fairly quickly, because it was a method they already had in their repertoire. Using the compositing they'd honed during their initial PartWork run, they created a version of disco classic "I Will Survive" that bolsters the spirit.

Geoff used some of his free time to record another short story narration. He took another dip into Poe's body (Heh.) of work for this classic tale of frustration at a bad employer taken to horrific extremes.

Since developing new merchandise doesn't require face-to-face meetings, VoicePlay rolled out a cute new logo pin, and provided a suggestion for how to display your fannish enjoyment.

Everybody now!

VoicePlay have always enjoyed being part of the greater performance community and giving back whenever they can. So when they decided to create a new video as a fundraiser for the MusiCares charitable organization, they invited a whole slew of friends from across the country to join in. Layne did a masterful job arranging and combining everyone's vocals, and the result is absolutely joyous.

It also raised the question most hardcore VP fans have at some point: "Wait, he was part of the group, too?!"

Tales from the road

The next weekend, VoicePlay premiered another take on a public chat stream in the form of "True VoicePlay Stories". They shared a memory from their travels that is really only funny in hindsight because nothing went catastrophically wrong. (Be careful not to mix up your medication, folks.) It's a fun glimpse into the realities of being touring musicians, and also shows that VoicePlay's storytelling prowess doesn't necessarily require music.

Commemorations of love

Layne, Cyndi, and the girls continued their family tradition of celebrating Dori's birthday with a family music video for the fourth year in a row. This time, they got their villainy on, singing "Evil Like Me" from The Descendants.

In the middle of June, Earl marked the fourth anniversary of the tragic losses at the Pulse nightclub shooting. In the midst of another ongoing traumatic event, the memories of the friends he had lost on that night felt particularly poignant.

I saw some being like "oh she's posting jimin's videos on her Instagram where people are putting hearts and calling them cute, he's definitely dating her" and I'm like WHAT??? What are you 9 ??? Who even thinks like that?

Also people tend to Forgot that he's literally THEE PARK JIMIN like he's not just an any idol but he's someone the whole industry talks about when it comes to dance and performance. There won't be a single moment even in future where they'll talk about the best dancer/perfomer of the industry and they won't mention jimin cause he's a "IT" in that department. They're in the fandom so they see him regularly so think he's just their best friend or something but he's a celebrity with a bigg reputation and impact. The dancers and perfomers look upto him and would do anything to share a stage with him. Jimin is just as significant as BTS even as a solo. If i danced with him as the way the girl did (I'm sorry idk her name, but it's the girl many call his reflection 😅 and she was the one who was posting all the stories from fans where she was tagged and doing choreo with him) i would literally never let anyone forgot who i danced with lol.

Idk what kind of alternate universe these stupid people be living and when you tell them he ain't dating her, they start lecturing you "why? Because she's just a backup dancer? So what? Love can happen with anyone" and I'm like brother move??? 😑😑😑 I'm sorry but kpop really has the stupidest arguments and like who even thinks that far over something so normal? Army have such a long history with never being able to be normal about the women BTS interact with. And some of them think being “normal” is to over compensate. Even besides the sk one who did the reflection portion, there was the one from fallon that people were putting on a pedestal for no reason. Like y’all had no idea this woman even existed before now.

They had found her socials the minute after that episode aired and started to follow her then wanted to act like that wasn’t weird. They’ll stress themselves out over the same scenarios they created in their own heads because when they see these men with women, they’re imagining their potential futures where they’re not the one who will be with them romantically.

I think TH with Jennie (and JK with all the girls he’s been caught with) are the only examples we’ve gotten of any of BTS actually being with women. Some people say that the reason armys were upset about TH being with Jennie is because they hate her. And while that’s part of it, they didn’t know any of the girls JK has been seen with. And they’re still in denial that he could have been with them in a dating sense. They simply just don’t like the idea of them dating period.

listening to a lot of the killers recently and then forgot about brandon's solo albums which then made me think about rockstar!peter's band taking a break for a while. peter has some songs he's written for the band but they never worked on them. but he really wants to work on them, he wants to put them out there and the band tells him to do it, but do it solo. he's confused at first, confused as to why they're so encouraging, but they know how proud he is of these songs and the band just isn't ready to make music again for a while.

so he does, he goes solo for a few years, touring the albums in smaller venues. it's more intimate than the arenas and stadiums that the band is used to. and he loves it just as much as those shows. and the band comes to watch him at a show in their hometown state, cheering the loudest out of everyone. he's able to meet the fans easier too, saying hi and signing stuff at the back entrance to the venues. he stays for hours meeting as many people as he can.

for the first tour, he just has a backing band, using the pre-recorded backing vocals over the speakers. but the second album's tour, he has backing singers on the stage. and one of them is you, and he grows quite fond of you over the duration of the tour. you and him hang out the most, chilling at the back of the bus sharing popcorn and watching movies. you help him write more songs too, one of which he lets you have, after confessing that you want to start your own music career. you refuse at first, but he laughs and says you practically wrote the song yourself anyway so it's only right that you have it. you share a kiss one night during tour, on the balcony of his hotel room after he invites you up for another writing session. you order room service and champagne and it just happens.

over the course of the rest of tour, the fans start to notice there's more pictures of you two than the whole backing band, on his instagram from every city that he posts about. then you post a selfie of you two, your hand grabbing his chin while he squints his eyes and scrunches his mouth up. you caption it "hanging out with this one every day is a dream come true💛". he reposts it to his story with another yellow heart and his fans are flooding your comments asking if you're actually together or just friends. you reply to one of them and tag peter like "well are you gonna say it or am i?".

peter then debuts a new song at the next show and it's very clearly a love song aimed at you. he introduces it saying he wrote it with and about someone special. then he turns to you and asks if you'd join him down the front to help him sing it. a crew member brings out two bar stools for you and him and you both sit down, while he picks up his acoustic guitar and starts the song. you have the opening verse and he doesn't stop looking at you the entire song, smiling while he's singing. when the song finishes, he takes your hand and helps you off the stool, pulling you in for a hug. he kisses your cheek before turning to the crowd and encouraging them to cheer for you as you head back to the little stage at the back where you previously stood.

later on, he's scrolling instagram and reposts a fan's video from the show, sharing the moment between you and him singing and then hugging. he captions it with a yellow heart and tags you as well. you're in the bathroom of the hotel room and you come out and join him on the bed, kissing his cheek and checking your mentions from him. that's when you turn to him and smile.

Well... I've worked with quite a few indie musicians some more successful than others.

Some talented like Matt from the Lujuria or Fede Diaz (who still needs some polishing, but its a matter of time. He erased all of his songs!! I can't believe it 😱). And some who thought themselves to be The Next Big Thing but clearly weren't.

One of them -whose name shall remain undisclosed- treated me not as a Publicist nor even as a Community Manager but as a secretary and made me prepare all the things he needed to register his songs (so, transcribing his lyrics to a Word document because he didn't remember where he placed the originals and had "no time" to do it himself, buying the right envelopes, buying CDs -but he was going to burn them because those needed to be "properly recorded"- and get all the paperwork sorted out -a form with each song and CD inside an envelope-)*. All of this was done with 1 day notice and mostly on the street because neither of us had a working printer and we needed to print all of that. It was raining, we were on the line on the street to the Intelectual Property's registration office (in mid Covid, so nobody could enter in the building and everything was done in the lobby, basically). He was covering himself with my umbrella (I had all the things in my hands and asked him to hold it so I could put everything in order). We were getting closer to the entrance and Andrea Álvarez (famous percussionist and drummer that worked with many legendary bands in Argentina and also has her solo career) came out. He knew her from before so they had a brief talk and took a selfie. Once she was gone, he turns to me and said "oh, you are here! I forgot! I was about to send you the photo to post on Instagram" and laughed 😑. Just to be clear, she was super nice and did said "Hi" to me before he started to bombard her with his stuff (and she would also look at me every now and then when talking so I could feel included)... but he could've said "This is Laura, she's helping me out" at the very least. I ended up ghosting this guy for many other reasons, but that's a story for another day.

On the other hand, my guitar teacher is part of the band Suena Supernova (he's the drummer) and he also works with Marcela Morelo and David Lebón among others (both of them are famous in here -their prime has passed, but they still work).

As the final piece of resistance, I was on the news (yes, that's me on the hideous thumbnail) about 4 or 5 years ago (?) and gave interviews to 3 channels at least after my aunt filmed a guy hitting his girlfriend on the street and I posted it on Facebook to see if anybody knew him (it went viral over night and even other countries picked up the video and played it on their News).

Warnings for abuse, pedophilia, grooming, etc

Yesterday Ronnie Radke posted a TikTok surfacing allegations against a known musician Brent Woods (guitarist known for playing with major legacy acts in glam rock/hair metal such as Mötley Crue and Aerosmith), which he later posted to his Instagram.

Jesse reposted this to his own Instagram, confirming credibility to the allegations saying that he knows someone who confided with him that she'd been repeatedly abused by Woods when she was a teenager.

Later, Lexii Lynn Frazier, guitarist (who we know as Jesse's girlfriend), publicly came forward via Radke with photos and such of her experiences with Woods.

For those who don't know, she's been gaining a following as a guitarist since her early teens, there are a lot of videos particularly on YouTube of her playing and she was known for being in Louis Tomlinson's "girl band". Interviews she did when she was 16 mention Woods as her "music mentor", and in the conversation she had with Radke, that was the excuse he gave her parents to have her living at his house where he groomed and repeatedly assaulted her.

Radke also called out Eddie Trunk (a radio presenter who is known friends with him and complicit on Lexii's abuse from the looks of it) and Sebastian Bach and Gene Simmonds (artists who hire Woods as a guitarist), all are yet to speak up.

I'm not a Ronnie Radke/FIR fan but I appreciate him helping platform abuse survivors and calling out predators here, and this led to Lexii and several other girls coming forward and sharing their stories.

For those interested in her music, she's a great guitarist - she posted a cover of the Summoning solo to her Instagram (@lexiilynn21) and TikTok (@lexiilynnfrazier), it's really accurate and on a 6 string guitar (Sleep Token use 7 string guitars for that song). She posts acoustic + singing covers to her TikTok too and is talking about putting out solo music soon

Darren Hayes has posted a shirtless thirst trap to Instagram, showing off the difference a year of boxing and boot camp makes.

The former Savage Garden frontman is 52 and posted the before-and-after fitness pics on social media on Monday.

Darren revealed the exercise regime and hard work in the gym he’d put in between the two photos.

“I’m 52. Pic on the left is after about a year of boxing, Basecamp and Barry’s boot camp,” he wrote.

“Pic on right was just after I came back from tour 2 years ago.

But Darren added, “Exercise is HARD as you get older but it keeps me sane.”

Darren Hayes will release memoir later this year

A few months ago, Darren Hayes confirmed the title and release date of his upcoming autobiography Unlovable. The book is out on November 5.

Darren Hayes said of the book, “I’ve been secretly telling stories about my life, through my music, since the very first Savage Garden single.

“Back then my innermost thoughts were shrouded in lyrical metaphor and deeply embedded within the visuals and stage costumes of a fantastical pop career.

“The reality of my life was much more complicated than the constraints of a 3-minute radio song would allow.

“Almost 30 years later, I feel free for the first time in my life… to truly tell my authentic story.”

As Savage Garden, Darren Hayes and his bandmate Daniel Jones released 1997’s self-titled album and 1999 follow-up Affirmation. Both were huge hits.

After the pop duo split, Darren released five solo albums, starting with 2002’s Spin.

Darren has spoken about the shocking homophobia he struggled against in the music industry in the 90s and 2000s.

Twenty years after his solo debut, Darren released new music for the first time in a decade on the defiantly-titled 2022 album Homosexual.
