If poppy isn’t doing well, why do they keep promoting her ?

She's not flopping like she did with her previous album, so I think Sumerian has a bit of hope with this one. She's yet to tour the new record, so they will have to see after her tour cycle is over if it's worth investing further into her or not. It's still too early to tell. Her record came out just at the end of last year. Yes, it flopped quickly, but she hasn't performed nearly half of the new songs yet for them to drop her.

She'll be around either way. She's been around for 10 years and still keeps pushing. If not with Sumerian, she'll try other things to keep staying relevant.

Because Sumerian lost a lot of money when she was first signed with the label and now they're giving her another opportunity. They expected that she would become the Queen of Metal and be the Taylor swift of metal and she's still being a flop. She didn't and doesn't gain a lot of fans, people stopped talking about her. She's not too relevant. She keeps being misogynist, bullying other artists. Controversies and more controversies. Etc.

She's still a flop. Next time, will be with the collab with Babymetal, trying to make her more relevant in the community. While ither bands that can sing live don't have the same opportunity as this nepo industry plan as she is. A fucking climber.

I heard something a little different ngl. They were out of contract and talking to other labels, Sumerian weren’t engaging with them until it was basically too late and they went with UNFD. basically Sumerian did not give a shit shout that band and Ash thinks that that type of music isn’t worth anything 🙃

I've heard that too, and it's what aligns with what Jesse and JT have said in interviews (No beef with Sumerian, UNFD have better international reach) which is more diplomatic for a "formal" interview (are podcasts formal?) but then breaking away is something I caught from an off the record conversation (not my own conversation) which works with how Erra's last releases under Sumerian were Eye of God (August 2019) and the Queens of the Stone Age cover (October 2019). Both were recorded with the producers/engineers of the self titled (for reference, the band went into the studio to track that in February/March 2020, right after the Ghost Atlas tour, and the Snowblood and Divisionary music videos were filmed in May) and Jesse said that Eye of God would have made the album if not for Sumerian owning it.

I say the timing of it makes it a bit iffy, Erra knew they were due for another album and they'd decided on who they wanted to record with and what kind of sound they wanted. Sumerian (probably) asked for a single to promote Erra's co-headliner with Northlane at the end of 2019 knowing they'd be going off to record an album soon

I feel like they will do something more that will damage their reputation, because they will be pushing and touring/performing with Poopy. And Noah will be seeing with her more times.

I agree with some of the other anons on this. I don't see BO and Poppy doing more tours together after the Aussie tour, except some festivals here and there, but not headliner tours.

Poppy doesn't sells out on her own so it makes sense to put her with BO, the biggest band Sumerian has. They kept pushing VAN to try to get the Grammy nomination which failed. Every BO fan has heard about her at this point due to VAN, so making them do more songs/tours together won't benefit any of them. Touring in Australia is expensive so sending two bands at the same time would be cheaper than making two tour runs, and that tour has probably been booked way before it was announced.

Now they're trying to give her attention with the song with KL, touring with Babymetal and working with Jordan. I totally see Jordan to keep working with her since she doesn't write her own songs.
