i started with my go-to simlicy save, so most of the residential lots and many of the community lots are by simlicy. i agonized over lot placement and number of each type of lot; i only ever play one family so it makes sense for me to have fewer residential lots and tons of community lots. i'm missing a lot of packs so this is pretty carefully curated to fit with what i do have (i'm used to replacing wallpaper and some furniture for most gallery builds but if it's missing much more than that I try a different lot). i love community lots that a) have things for sims to do and b) look pretty. all of these fit and i highly recommend every single one!!

SolCaf

SolCaf (a shortened form of "Soul Cafe") is a trendy but casual restaurant which serves comfort food made with the freshest locally sourced ingredients. Pull up a seat at the high-top tables facing the open kitchen and watch the chefs at work! The patio has a spot for live music (unfortunately you will have to hire a musician yourself) and a small bar which serves cocktails and appetizers.

In playtesting I noticed that Sims who sit at the high-top tables by the stoves will get up immediately and then not sit down again until they order (one of my playtesters mentioned it, too). They tend to stay seated after that, but if it bugs you, feel free to move the tables closer to the middle of the room, away from the stoves. I've seen Sims do that same thing at regular tables so I think it's just one of those glitchy things with restaurants, but it happened more frequently at those high-tops, so I thought I'd give you guys a heads up!

Also, if you do hire a musician for the back patio, be aware they can distract the patrons and the wait staff a bit! :) I liked having it anyway, so I kept it.

Please enable "bb.moveobjects" before placing the lot in build mode to make sure everything stays in place.

It is the little things in life. Had to go drop a package off for an #etsy order and decided to stop at #solcafe for a light lunch and coffee. I love that they use tiki cups for drinks. I love that my plate has a little chip in it. I love their dressing for their little green salad and that they hand whip scallions in their cream cheese. Hi! Before we continue the story, I just want to announce/clear up/declare/whatever one thing lol.

For those who are easily confused/bored by my storytelling woes, skip to Here is what I’ve done. The first two paragraphs should be enough to sum up the changes. But if you ask questions later, I will not hesitate to defer to this post. 😜

You storytellers out there know the deal. Aging, sim time, distance, oh my! I solved the aging problem, and sim time is whatever I say it is LOL. Distance, however, has been a thorn in my side. My collab with @ladybugsimblr​ forced me to create distance between the San Myshuno metropolitan area and “the west coast” which is Del Sol Valley and Strangerville. Oasis Springs should be on the west coast as well, but I struggled to make the separation because it has been such a frequently visited world throughout the entirety of the story. I just couldn’t take all that stuff away from my sims and make it a plane ride away. And some of the sims who live there, like Rodney, are supposed to be local (local meaning wherever the main character lives). But pretending like Oasis Springs is on the “east coast” is bonkers lol! That has never set well with me, and I’m sure it confused you guys too. 

Here is what I’ve done. 

I shuffled households and lots between worlds in a way that make the most sense. Oasis Springs is now officially on the “west coast” in between DSV and Strangerville, and Melanick will hangout there when they move. I have made over that whole world, so it shouldn’t look the same. Well...those two houses we went to are still there, but all the non-residential lots are different.

Rodney, his mother, and SolCaf are now in Willow Creek. The taqueria and other places from Oasis Springs (like Melanick’s first date cafe) are now in Newcrest.

I can’t change what’s happened in the past, so these changes are NOT retroactive. But everyone’s memories will be altered lol. If a character recalls a moment/event that took place in Oasis Springs, they will more than likely remember it happening in different world.

I don’t remember who made this map, but it was NOT me. There is a similar map I liked a lot, but San Myshuno, Willow Creek, and Newcrest weren’t as close as I make them out to be in the story, so this one works better for me although there are things I don’t like about it as well. (Thanks @tabbyrhsims4simblr​ for bringing that map back to mind and sparking all this madness LOL)

The area in red is the aforementioned San Myshuno metropolitan area. I live in the Atlanta metropolitan area, and I see San Myshuno just like that with Willow Creek, Newcrest, and now Evergreen Harbor as its suburbs. Brindleton Bay claims to be included in the area, but everyone says nah fam you don’t even share a border lol. 

Minutes are by car, and hours are by plane. I’ve never viewed my corner of the multiverse as being massive, so plane rides are no more than 6-8 hours. 

Because my universe is small, I see Sulani located more where Jamaica is than Hawaii. That makes sense for the story too seeing as the Piersons get there and back pretty quickly.

Forgotten Hollow doesn’t really exist in this world and is more like an urban legend because I use it for my own purposes. My photo studio and “retirement homes” are there lol. That’s why it’s ex’d out.

I don’t have High School Years yet, but from looking at everyone’s pics, I imagine Copperdale would be in between Brindleton Bay and Henford (which would be somewhere where Forgotten Hollow is, I imagine). Or maybe in between Henford and Britechester? What do you guys think? And has anyone seen an updated map yet??

Episode 2 from the beginning (part 5/?)

It was a “night on the town” and I usually avoid this holiday because the food takes so long to arrive that my sims usually starve. 

Did they fix that? The family all went to SolCaf by @jenba in Oasis Springs and the food arrived in just one sim hour! 

Such a nice way to spend the last evening of the triplets childhood. Tomorrow they become teens and this whole save becomes that much easier to manage.

Dustin refused to allow Bunny to cancel their meal, so feeling slightly happier they made the trip to Maristella to visit SolCaf for a late lunch.

Bunny: You know honey, you look darn fine in double denim! I daresay the media will want to hear your side of things soon, so a bit of a polish wouldn’t do any harm!

Rodney took a moment from the very busy day to step back, watch the fruit of his labor, and smile. It's been a long time since he began this journey, and things are finally good. The restaurants are thriving, and he's finally able to think about making minor changes here and there. SolCaf will always be his baby, but Taqueria Alchone is his pride and joy. He took a restaurant that was struggling and made it come alive again. And on top of that, he's finally got the girl he's always wanted. Life is beautiful.
