Solar Pool Heating Installation For Saving Money & Going Green
Solar pool heating installation is a great way for homeowners to save money. Solar pool heaters use the sun's energy to warm your pool's water, so you don't have to waste money on electricity or gas. But how does solar pool heating work, and why is it better than other forms?
The solar panels on your roof convert the sun's energy into heat. This heats a fluid inside the collector box—which connects to your pool—and circulates through pipes under the ground to warm up your water.
Solar pool heating is also a great option where temperatures drop below freezing. Solar pool heating has many benefits over other forms of pool heating. It's a clean and renewable energy source, which means it doesn't contribute to climate change or pollute the environment. And because solar water heaters use sunlight to warm up your pool, no harmful emissions or fumes are released into the air.
Affordable Solar is here to answer any questions and provide the best possible service. If you want to learn more about how solar pool heating works or want to find out if it's right for your swimming pool, call them today at 0418 349 495. Solar Panel Installation - Get the Most Out of Your Investment
Investing in a solar panel installation in Brisbane is an excellent way to cut your power bill. The amount you save depends on the type of solar panels you choose and the price you pay. You can also generate cash by storing energy through a solar energy storage system. By doing a bit of research, you can find a solar panel supplier that meets your needs.
A solar panel system can be beneficial to both you and the environment. It is possible to save up to $55,000 over the lifetime of your panels. However, you must also choose a reputable solar panel manufacturer and retailer. Some of the best options for a solar panel installation in Brisbane include Hyundai Energy Solutions and MC Electrical. They both provide the best after-sales service and solar panel systems at competitive prices.
Whether you need a small residential solar pack or a larger system, there are plenty of ways to get the most out of your investment. By using energy-efficient light bulbs and appliances, scheduling your electricity consumption and reducing your carbon footprint, you will be able to make your system work for you.
If you want a solar panel installation in Brisbane that will last you for years to come, look at the options offered by Hyundai Energy Solutions. Their products have a 25-year warranty and are German engineered. This means they are likely to hold up well to the rigours of the Australian climate. Another great solar manufacturer to consider is Q Cells. These solar panels are known for their high performance characteristics and great reputation in the industry.
Choosing a solar panel retailer can be a confusing process. There are many different companies in the industry who claim to offer the lowest prices, but the quality and experience of their services vary. Not all of these companies will live up to their claims, so it is important to compare them to find the best fit.
The federal government provides up-front discounts on the cost of solar panel systems. In addition, you can receive a feed-in-tariff, which is a form of money that you receive for the electricity you generate. Depending on where you live, you will be eligible to receive between 6 and 8 cents per kWh.
While a solar panel system may be expensive, it can quickly pay for itself. Depending on the size of your home, you can expect to save at least $500 per year on your power bill. Additionally, solar panels are a good way to add value to your property. When you choose to invest in a solar panel installation in Brisbane, you will be contributing to the local economy.
Whether you need a solar panel installation in Brisbane or a commercial system, Smart House Solar can help you. They specialize in both commercial and residential solar panels systems and have a network of CEC accredited installers.
Purchasing a solar panel system in Brisbane can be an expensive undertaking, but the savings you will make over time will more than make up for the initial costs. In fact, a 4.05kW solar panel system in Brisbane can generate up to $1,026 or more annually.
Certified Solar specializes in providing solar energy and energy storage system installations for commercial and residential projects. We transform our clients’ energy needs by helping them drastically reduce and eliminate their electricity bills, aiming for the maximum return on each investment.

Ripping up concrete sidewalks and parking lots and instead planting urban forests and using less cars can all help to decrease indoor and outdoor air temperature. In cities with an abundance of water, “soft cooling” techniques using fans and pools can also greatly reduce extreme temperatures.
Many architects today are also changing how they design buildings: only providing AC in specific rooms instead of through a central heating system. This way, people can choose to open or close their windows if they want, while reducing the energy needed to cool the hallways and lobby areas.
If you face photovoltaic panels westward, you can time the peak electricity production from solar energy with peak electricity demand for cooling. Using better glass on buildings, external shading, increasing air movement and installing ceiling fans—all of these further reduce reliance on AC.
In the longer term, we can cool our streets by narrowing them, using less dark colors that absorb heat, and aligning streets to prevailing winds. There are also ways we can overhaul the way we do air conditioning itself.
Many cities already provide air-conditioned public spaces as a public health services; we could also redesign apartment buildings with social spaces for people to hang out, by, for example, transforming the much cooler basements into lounges.
We could build cooperative housing that is ecologically and efficiently designed, so that people can together manage their energy use and decide on their own innovations to lower temperature. Toronto has a district cooling system that uses cold water from the bottom of Lake Ontario, and then uses the warmed up water for the drinking water supply.

-Abby Anderson!Construction worker x female!reader
-synopsis: Abby is a construction worker your dad hired. you start fawning over her, coming to soon realize she’s not what you expected, a mutual hatred grows but so does the sexual tension.
-warning: wlw sex, oral sex & fingering (r!reciving), somewhat implied age gap.
-word count: 2.5k-
Credit to: @solar-18 (co written)
Suddenly you wake up confused and agitated to the noises of construction coming from your backyard. You slowly try to pull yourself out of bed and walk over to the kitchen to find your dad making breakfast
“What the hell is going on?” You ask “remember I told you last week but you must’ve been half asleep, we’re getting our new pool installed for the next couple months”he says in an annoyed tone, not bothering to look up from the stove.
“MONTHS?,so that noise is our new normal now?”
“I guess so” he dismisses. You grab a pancake with your hand and take a bite as you groggily walk over to the patio door and open it slowly, you walk over to the edge of the patio and look down to see 4-5 construction workers, but one stood out.
A few middle aged men, greasy and complaining about the heat, and then there’s her. A tall woman who carries herself with such ease and confidence, like she knows she’s hot. You get captivated by her, it’s easy for her to trapped in your gaze, the way her hands are so rugged but gentle in the way you crave for them, the way her braid drapes down her back in her sweat soaked tank top, so wet that it sticks to her revealing her toned muscles. Almost as wet as you.
You're leaning against the patio railing biting your lip when she looks at you, snapping out of your trance, immediately turning your face a hot red out of embarrassment. Maybe she didn’t notice… but maybe she did. Then you realize your hair is disastrous and you're in your XXL pizza sauce stained Pajama shirt, and that you're not wearing any pants, stuffin’ a pancake in your mouth.
You race back to your room mortified and heavily embarrassed. You brush and curl your hair all fancy and try your best to look like you got more than 4 hours of sleep. You put on your nicest outfit so maybe she’ll forget about how atrocious you looked 10 minutes ago, you think to yourself and wonder how you could possibly impress this toned, blonde, 6 foot 2, gorgeous woman.
You take a deep breath before walking out of your bedroom, you walk towards your father nonchalantly, “What’s up hun? You look nice, what’s the occasion?” Your father says looking up at you then looking right back down at whatever he thought was so important on his phone. You lean against the corner of the couch trying desperately to hide the smirk that is creeping up your lips.
“uh.. I’m goin’ out later. So,, do you know the name of that construction worker out there? Y’know, the one with the braid?”
“Why do you ask?” He says, thinking you're being suspicious.
“No reason, just curious” you almost mumble,
“I can’t remember.. maybe you could go ask yourself” he says as he half-moon smiles at you, his attention barely in the conversation.
“You should make something for the workers, they’ve been out there since sunrise” he sighs, acting like he’s not paying them triple what he should.
You think to yourself that it could be the perfect opportunity to talk to her.
You don’t know what to make, you're racking your brain trying to think of something, then it comes to you, it’s perfect, you think she’ll love it… god you hope she will.
The smell of white chocolate macadamia nut cookies fills the air as you hear the oven timer go off. You carefully slip them one at a time onto one of your grandmother's old floral plates, you shake your head slightly with a huff as you slide the patio door open, the heat hitting you instantly.
You sat them down on a table on the patio and announce to them all you made them some cookies, then she starts to walk up to you. Your heart racing, you are wishing with every bone in your body that she’ll like them, but then you realize, she’s not walking towards the cookies, she’s walking towards you.
You feel sickly, your heart is beating out of your chest more than it ever has in your life. You finally bring yourself to try and speak to her, trying your hardest to focus on your words so you don’t stutter. She comes closer, her face less then a foot away, she looks even better up close, before you can think of what to say she says
“I’m good.”
She looks at the cookies and makes a disgusted face and then looks back at you,
“Some water would’ve been nice though.”
She says in a snarky tone. You stand there for a few moments completely dumbfounded at the audacity of this woman.
You go to mumble out a response but she’s already walked away, completely unbothered. It makes your anger bubble up, you want to yell who the hell she thinks she is, but you don’t.
You go and get her water.
What a joke.
As you're coming back out with a pitcher of water and a stack of cups you look over to see these four gluttonous men walking away from the table.
You look over at the cookies to realize that they devoured all 30 cookies in the time it took you to get you a pitcher of water and some cups, you look over at the woman, she looks at your pitcher of water before looking back at you,
“Couldn’t even bother to get ice?” She scoffs before turning back to her work, not even bothering to take a glass of water you so graciously got just for her.
You feel almost defeated, turning back inside and slamming the glass door behind you. You head straight to your room agitated and pick up your book, you try to read but your thoughts are too filled with that woman. You’ve never gone from such love to such hate in that short of time.
While your sitting on your bed trying to read you hear a knock on your door, you stand up and shuffle to your door as you wipe the sleep from your eyes, they widen as you look up to a woman towering over you.
You roll your eyes slightly as she leans against your door frame. She looks down at you and with her deep groggily voice she huffs
“You gonna let me in or not?”
“Why would i let you in?” You say in a stand-offish voice
“Your dad wants me to take a look at your shower, he says it’s leaky.”
“Fine” you say, accepting defeat since your showers been broken too long for your liking.
You let her in as she scans your room all around with her deep blue eyes making a face that tells you she’s critiquing your room.
“The bathrooms right there” you sigh in a tone that implies you want her gone. She nods as she grips her tool box with her large biceps and slams your bathroom door.
As you hear her in there working and grunting you can’t focus on a thing, storming out of your bedroom heading to the kitchen to find your father, at the stove cooking your favorite dinner, finally, something good about this god awful day.
“Ah, hon. That girl you were talking about earlier,, her names Abby, and I invited her to stay for dinner.”
Abby. The name loops in your head.
Why did he have to invite her. Maybe this is all an elaborate prank their trying to pull on you. Can she really be that bad? Sure, she’s a complete self-obsessed, ungrateful little bitch but if she was able to befriend your father in just a short few hours maybe she’s not all bad..? Right?.
You find it exhausting trying to find reasons to like her, but who wouldn’t? She’s hot.
You, still dressed all nice when dinner rolled around cause you thought since you got all dressed up for nothing maybe you’d go out later and try to forget all about her beautiful freckled face, even though she’s an ass it doesn’t change the attraction you feel towards her.
You help your dad finish dinner and set the table, then she walks in.
Abby.
All the reasons you were just moments ago trying to convince yourself of slipped away in an instant as you see her smug face.
Then, just for a split second you catch her taking a glance at you, but not your face, then she looks back up at your eyes.
You're in such shock you think you must be seeing things, but then again your top is very low cut, you give her a sly grin and walk away with more confidence than ever before.
You pull out your chair and set a napkin on your lap, your head perking up as you hear the screech of a chair, it’s Abby. She has had the bright idea to sit next across from you. ‘Is this a joke? What’s this woman’s aim?’ You think to yourself.
Most of the dinner was just you and Abby glaring at each other and your father rambling about god knows what. You could cut the tension with a knife, but your dad keeps trying to keep things light but he’s slowly starting to realize the mutual discomfort.
His phone rings and he excuses himself from the table, after a few moments he comes over to the table. “there’s been an emergency at the office, I’ll be home soon hun.” He says lightly with a kiss on the forehead, grabbing his jacket and slamming the door.
You continue to make intense eye contact with Abby, the silence is deafening. You take a glance outside to see the work they have managed to do on the pool, you look back at Abby to find her staring at your chest, again, but this time not so subtle.
“Eyes are up here.” You mock,
Abby’s eyes dart back down to her food, she picks at it as her face grows red, she mutters something under her breath but too quiet to hear.
“What’s that?” You assert. Abby looks you straight in the eyes and scoffs,
“I know you wore that shirt just for me” she sneers,
“The world doesn’t revolve around you” you argue. Abby snaps back,
“don't think I didn’t see you drooling over me this morning, and then suddenly you came back all dressed up with freshly baked cookies, coincidence?.. I think not.”
Your fuming. You don’t know what to say or do but you figure the best thing you can do is play it cool,
“Whatever you say Abby” you allude, you try and change the subject by saying,
“It’s getting late, you clean up while I get a shower?” “Sure sweetie” she says mocking you.
‘God that woman stresses me out’
you think to yourself as you undress for the shower, you get in to realize it’s still broken. ‘As if this day couldn’t get any fucking worse’ you sigh to yourself, marching back out to her in a short towel you’ve had since you were 12
“Now your really just trying to tempt me, love.” She nagged, seductively, “ha ha. Very funny,, the shower you supposedly fixed, it’s still broken.” You exhale, visibly upset.
“Here, I’ll come take a look at it.” Abby says with a dramatic sigh.
You stand In the bathroom door frame watching her touch the shower head gently but firm, with her slightly vainly muscular hands, wishing you were the one she’s touching,
“I need an extra hand, can you get over here??” She huffs, you scramble over to her and hold the shower head up while she works on stuff above you, her face only inches away from yours. You start hopelessly turning red, turning your head in the opposite direction to prevent her from noticing but her massive toned arms are even closer to your face ‘god I want her.’
You think to yourself, aimlessly racking your brain as to why you feel this way.
Your getting hot and jittery as you notice your towel begging to slip, as you only have one free hand. Abby looks at you dead in the eyes, so close to your face you can feel her hot breath as she groans,
“if you want me to fuck you so bad, your gonna have to make a move,,”
And in a split second you drop the shower head, along with your towel and grab her face, your lips crashing together feverishly as your tongues meet in a heat, steam filling the room and heat rising from the shower.
Abby unzips her pants in a haze and slides them off as you rip off her top in a panic, feeling her back muscles as you do.
Once it’s off your hand explores her abs as she devours your face, lips part for a moment gasping for air, taking a moment to admire her body.
Your body’s are pressed together in a foggy blur.
“I wanna feel you Abby” you groan into her hair as she bites at your neck, craving her even more.
“Yes ma’am.” She replies slowly running her fingers up your thighs until their buried deep inside your soaked cunt, you gasp and grab her shoulder.
“Is that good you fucking slut?” She mutters into your ear, clearly enjoying herself.
“Yes Abby'' you gasp as she curls her fingers fast and hard, letting out a loud cry. You can hear Abby whimper as you moan her name. You can feel her everywhere inside you, burrowing Into the deepest parts of your body.
Your nails latch onto her broad arms as hard as you can but she’s not even fazed, so focused on you and how good you feel on her fingers, she holds your legs up as they start to buckle before lifting you up and taking you to your bed.
She throws you down and is immediately on top of you, pinning you to the bed.
With every kiss you get needier.
“Abby, please” you plead.
“Please what? Use your words.”
You fucking hate this woman. Why must she make everything so difficult.
“Abby I want you to eat me.” You say blatantly, a smile rising to Abby’s face, she moves down your body maintaining eye contact, and just before she reaches your aching cunt she stops.
“Just because I’m gonna fuck you so good you forget everyone’s name but mine doesn’t mean I like you.” Music to your ears. You couldn’t give two shits if she liked you, as long as you get an orgasam from a pretty lady out of it. Before you could reply, her tongue is already attached to your clit, your hips buck into her mouth as her braid finds it’s way into your grasp.
She takes your thigh in her large hand and starts flicking your bud with her thick fingers, you can feel your head becoming foggier and foggier as your orgasam creeps up.
“Abs… I’m ‘gunna” you slur as she fucks your hole with her tongue
“Show, don’t tell” Abby hums, and you do as she says. You let out a deep sigh as you feel your release, Abby eating all that your worth,
“hm, you like that doll?” Abby says wiping her mouth as she looks up at you, still trying to catch your breath from the excitements that occurred just moments ago, “I’ll take your lack of a response as pretty fucking good.” Abby teases, acting full of herself. But this time you don’t mind.

1. The ACC will train and employ 20,000 people in climate and clean energy jobs
The ACC will mobilize a new, diverse generation by training them in skills crucial to combating climate change—everything from installing solar panels to improving communities' natural disaster resilience to restoring critical ecosystems. And with a shortage of skilled clean energy workers, the ACC couldn’t come at a better time. We need more tradespeople, installing things like electric vehicle chargers and heat pumps, to decarbonize our economy.
There’s an emphasis on building career pathways, not just jobs. To achieve this, the White House will partner with unions and is committed to providing members with the hard skills and transferable credentials that will allow them to find good-paying jobs or seek further training through apprenticeships and trade schools after their service. This includes potentially expanding access to scholarships and awards that would support post-secondary education and training or reduce student debt and streamlined pathways into civil service. The best part? No prior experience is required for most positions, and very few will require college degrees.
2. The ACC prioritizes equity and environmental justice
While the ACC draws upon the ambition of The New Deal and President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s Civilian Conservation Corps, it also learns from its fundamental flaws.
FDR’s Corps lacked diversity, perpetuated white supremacy, and almost entirely excluded women, but Biden’s Corps puts equity and environmental justice at its core. It prioritizes communities traditionally left behind, including energy communities, whose lives have been dominated and shaped by the fossil fuel industry, and disadvantaged communities, who disproportionately suffer from a combination of environmental, economic, and health burdens.
The ACC follows the same targets of the administration’s Justice40 goal, where 40 percent of the benefits must be directed towards disadvantaged communities.
3. The ACC employs an all-of-government approach
The ACC is built on a hub-and-spoke model with AmeriCorps at the center. The White House is launching a dedicated ACC recruitment website, where participants can learn about and apply for opportunities in their communities, and across the country, that span all spheres of the clean energy economy.
The administration is partnering AmeriCorps with at least five other federal agencies (Department of Labor, Department of the Interior, U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and Department of Energy) to pool resources, coordinate recruitment, and fund corps members to work on specific projects that address the climate crisis.
Additionally, the administration will partner with at least 10 states. California, Colorado, Maine, Michigan, and Washington have already launched similar programs, while five more (Arizona, Maryland, Minnesota, North Carolina, and Utah) are creating their own Corps.

Wait wasn’t it the boomers that preach to us this “We need to save the world!” shit? I mean would could have better eco system if wasn’t for say
1. The US, USSR/China piss competition that was the Cold War
2. SEVERAL countries being fucked over thanks to the push of communism/US meddling/ etc and many of those countries are still recovering from it.
3. I mean in the west developed countries, people have fucking meltdowns over a Japan McDonald’s wholesome family tweet. So our family unit need some fixing
4. Manufactured nihilism, so a lot of people don’t give about themselves much less the environment.
5. Have corporations that being run by medically confirmed sociopaths.
I can say more, but Greta sweetie, I know you want to do good, but blaming the older generation thinking many were hellbent on destroying the earth isn’t so simple. Many do/did want to save the world, but we have to deal with the fallout of ww2, communist dumbasses, and so much more with humanity itself before we can do the ideal environmentalism.
Was confused for a moment till I remembered I'd scheduled that one, was gonna run it yesterday but I had to get around the subscription wall which is more complicated than a paywall.
In the end just archiving it works but the links in the article don't work if you do that, which is what I had to do.
It's not even the stuff you're mentioning up there either. I had a 1966 Plymouth Fury III there was this weird green plastic thing with a device inside it and a couple vacuum hoses attached to it, one in one out.
Primitive Smog control device, if you never worked on older cars that were manufactured for sale in California you'll never see one, but every vehicle sold in CA had a smog control device for the longest time, all changed when the auto industry realized it was cheaper to just do the same thing to every car, it's something that's been going on since before I was even born though, so current generation isn't the first to care or take action.
Been lots of missteps along the way, the shift from paper bags to plastic ones at grocery stores is a big one, people thought it would save the trees and it didn't do much there and now we've got a totally different problem.
Hole in the ozone layer on the other hand, we got that issue taken care of and it's on the mend, has been since long before gretta was born too.
National parks predate my grandparents, thanks Teddy, leaving large swaths of land alone for the purpose of conservation.
My grandparents when they got their pool installed in the early 80's had a big fat solar water heater installed so it could heat the water for that as well as the water for the house, weren't super common but they existed and were in use by people who wanted to both be nice to the earth and lower their gas bill at the same time.
Nearly all of the solutions being discussed by the young climate weekend warriors involve technology developed for the purpose they want it used for before they were born.
I'm just dandy with people wanting to save the earth, I've been trying to do my part for decades now, which I would appreciate it if gretta and co would acknowledge instead of acting like they're the first people ever to give a damn.
Several centuries of damage all culminating at the peak of the industrial revolution that we need to undo, that takes time and being a snobby, whiny, self important, twit who bashes everyone who came before her, who's shoulders she's standing on, doesn't do anything real.
And quite possibly does more harm than good.
Not going to totally blame her though, she did start out as a pawn on someone else's game and to some extent she still is.

massive TW: child+medical abuse, suicide, ableism
Contrary to the hospital’s suspicions, Beata had never been diagnosed with a mental illness, and prior to the DCF investigation, Jack says, she’d never suffered from depression. She had even undergone a court-ordered evaluation by a licensed psychologist who found “no evidence that would support the conclusion that Beata has falsified her daughter’s medical condition for any psychological purpose” and who concluded that “factitious disorder by proxy may safely be ruled out.” The psychologist did note that Beata may have been suffering from an “adjustment disorder” resulting from Maya’s illness and removal from their home. (Another report, written by Teppa Sanchez, observed: “Mother states that she is extremely tired and is very stressed and at times feels like she ‘wants to die.’”)
At the Kowalskis’ next family court hearing, All Children’s attorneys continued to argue that Maya needed to be kept away from her family and transferred to long-term inpatient medical foster care. The Kowalskis’ attorney handed Judge Haworth a letter Beata had addressed to him before taking her life. “Your heart is made out of iceberg!” it began, in her imperfect English. “ACH, DCF have destroyed my daughter physically and mentally … My daughter will never be who she was before October 13, 2016.” Haworth read the note, folded it, and put it away. He ruled that Jack could take Maya to Rhode Island to be evaluated by Pradeep Chopra, a professor at Brown University’s medical school who studies CRPS. Later, after Chopra wrote that Maya’s symptoms and response to treatments were consistent with CRPS, and that the diagnoses of Munchausen by proxy and factitious disorder were “incorrect,” Haworth remanded Maya back to Jack’s custody.
When Maya left All Children’s Hospital in January 2017, she weighed less than she did when she was admitted — a dark verdict on the separation test meant to detect Munchausen by proxy. She was so weak that it was difficult for her to sit up on her own, and Jack remembers having to put stuffed animals in the back seat of the car to support her body. At home, he says, Maya cried nonstop. Jack took her to physical therapy, installed solar panels to heat their pool for aquatherapy, and bought her a teacup Yorkie puppy. CRPS abates over time in most patients. A year and a half later, as Jack watched, astonished, Maya stood up out of her wheelchair, picked up her crutches, and slowly made her way across the room. After 12 more months of swimming, yoga, and exercise, Maya took her first unassisted steps in four years. “I bawled,” Jack said.

Much of what happened to the Kowalskis at All Children’s should not have occurred. It was not true that the parents could have been legally arrested if they had taken Maya home on her second day at the hospital. “Against medical advice” discharges are legal and occur every day in the United States; a 2007 study shows that one to 2 percent of all hospital admissions result in one. Also, Smith’s decision to access Maya’s confidential medical records through the All Children’s portal on October 8, 2016, appears to have violated the privacy law known as HIPAA, according to Blaise Wabo, a health-care-compliance expert at a cybersecurity audit firm. Only treating physicians are allowed to access patient records unless a parent gives written consent for another party to do so. Smith was never one of Maya’s treating doctors, and on the day she opened her confidential records, there was no active DCF investigation. HIPAA violations are punishable by significant fines and up to ten years in prison. When I asked All Children’s about how child-abuse pediatricians like Smith are able to access patient records, the hospital did not answer. (Smith disputed that any HIPAA violation occurred.)
this is an actual horror story. holy fucking shit.

EXPLORING SOLAR HEATING SYSTEMS
Solar heating systems have evolved significantly over the past two decades, becoming one of the most sustainable and efficient solutions for reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. By using solar collectors to capture and convert sunlight into usable heat, these systems reduce reliance on conventional energy sources, offering a cleaner, renewable option for heating. Technological improvements have made these systems more efficient, easier to install, and compatible with other energy solutions, making them suitable for both residential and commercial applications. This article explores the various types of solar heating systems and their wide-ranging applications across multiple industries.
1. TYPES OF SOLAR HEATING SYSTEMS
1.1 Active Solar Heating Systems: These systems use mechanical devices like pumps and fans to circulate a heat-transfer fluid, which absorbs heat from solar collectors (typically mounted on rooftops) and transfers it to a storage tank or directly to a heating system. They are suitable for residential space heating, radiant floor heating, water heating, and pool heating, especially in colder climates.
Active Indirect-Circulation (Closed Loop): Uses a heat-transfer fluid (usually a glycol-water mixture) to collect heat and transfer it to potable water via a heat exchanger. These systems often include overheat protection to prevent damage during periods of low heat demand and high solar intensity.
Figure 1. Schematic of indirect hot water & radiant heat (Source)
Figure 2. Schematic of indirect solar pool heater (Source)
Active Direct-Circulation (Open Loop): Commonly found in solar pool heating, these systems pump water directly through the solar collectors. They are suited for regions without long freezing periods and work at atmospheric pressure. In an open loop system, the usable hot water is directly circulated through the solar heating system.
Figure 3. Schematic of direct solar pool heater (Source)
1.2 Passive Solar Heating Systems: rely on natural heat transfer methods like convection to circulate heat, using gravity and thermosiphon without the need for pumps or fans. This makes passive systems simpler and more energy-efficient. The design focuses on architectural elements and material selection to capture and store solar heat naturally, making them ideal for climates that don’t require mechanical circulation systems.
2. APPLICATIONS OF SOLAR HEATING SYSTEMS.
2.1 Solar Hot Water Heaters.
Solar water heating is widely used in residential homes to provide hot water for daily activities like showers, cleaning, washing clothes and other needs. Solar hot water systems use flat plate collectors or evacuated tubes, typically mounted on the roof, absorb sunlight and transfer the heat to a liquid (usually water or a heat-transfer fluid). This heated liquid is then circulated to a storage tank, where it heats the household's water supply. In sunny regions, solar water heating systems can cover up to 70% of a household’s hot water needs, significantly cutting down on electricity or gas bills.
Figure 4. Rooftop solar water heater system
Figure 5. Solar water heating system installation schematic (Source)
2.2 Solar Space Heating.
Solar heating systems can be used for space heating in homes by harnessing sunlight to warm air or water. The heat is transferred to the house through several methods:
Radiant Floor Heating: This system circulates heated water through pipes installed under the floor, distributing heat evenly throughout the home. This energy-efficient method ensures comfort during colder months and reduces reliance on fossil fuels.
Figure 6.Illustration of solar radiant floor heating system (Source)
Baseboard Heaters: For air-based systems, the heated air can be used in conjunction with baseboard heaters or forced-air heating systems to warm rooms. In colder climates, solar space heating can help reduce dependence on traditional fossil-fuel heating systems, lowering energy consumption and costs, while also contributing to a reduction in carbon emissions.
2.3 Solar Swimming Pool Heating.
Solar pool heaters are a popular and cost-effective method to keep swimming pools at a comfortable temperature year-round, even in colder regions. The system works by pumping pool water through solar collectors, where it passes through a series of tubes and is exposed to sunlight. As the water flows through the tubes, it absorbs heat from the sun and is then returned to the pool.
Figure 7. Schematic diagram of solar hot water system installation (Source)
During cold weather, high-efficiency solar collectors like vacuum tubes are used, which capture and retain heat even in low temperatures. The system circulates pool water or a heat-transfer fluid through these collectors, absorbing solar energy and returning the warmed water to the pool. Insulated pipes and heat exchangers minimize heat loss, ensuring effective operation even in colder climates.
This continuous process extends the swimming season and reduces the need for costly gas or electric heaters, making solar pool heating an energy-efficient and environmentally friendly option. The system operates in a closed-loop, requires minimal power, and can function effectively in freezing temperatures and cloudy conditions.
2.4 Solar Agriculture Heating.
Agrivoltaics, also known as PV agriculture, is a dual-use technology that combines solar energy generation with crop production on the same land. This innovative approach allows farmers to grow food while simultaneously producing renewable energy, improving overall land use efficiency. With the growing use of solar panels and a global push towards environmental conservation, many experts see agrivoltaics as the future of sustainable agriculture.
Figure 8: Illustration of the Land Equivalent Ratio (LER) concept, comparing separate land use for crops or solar power with combined use in an agrivoltaic system. This demonstrates the productivity of agrivoltaics compared to mono-use on the same land area (Source: Fraunhofer ISE, 2020).
Figure 9. Types of agrivoltaics systems that have been deployed commercially. (Source)
Solar Crop Production: Solar panels are installed above crops, providing partial shade that reduces water evaporation and protects crops from excessive heat. This dual-use system increases land efficiency by enabling both agriculture and energy production in the same space. The renewable energy generated can power farm operations, reducing reliance on external energy sources and enhancing sustainability. Agrivoltaics is particularly beneficial in drought-prone or hot regions, as the shade created by the panels helps maintain a controlled microclimate, improving crop resilience.
Figure 10: Agrivoltaic setup in a French farm, where crops grow underneath and between solar panels, blending renewable energy and agriculture (Source )
Solar Animal Husbandry: harnesses solar energy to enhance various aspects of livestock farming, including heating, lighting, water supply, and ventilation. In colder climates, solar heating systems provide necessary warmth for young animals, such as chicks or piglets, ensuring their health and development. Solar-powered lighting extends working hours in barns and enclosures, while solar water pumps ensure a consistent and sustainable water supply for animals and irrigation in remote areas. Solar-powered ventilation systems help regulate temperature and air quality, reducing humidity and promoting healthier environments for animals. By adopting solar energy, farmers can reduce energy costs, decrease reliance on fossil fuels, and enhance overall farm productivity, making solar animal husbandry both efficient and environmentally friendly.
Figure 11: Sheep grazing underneath solar panels, benefiting from both renewable energy and livestock farming on the same land (Source)
Greenhouse Solar Heating: uses solar energy to maintain optimal growing conditions in greenhouses, especially during colder months or at night. Solar collectors capture sunlight during the day and convert it into heat, which is stored and released when temperatures drop. This system helps regulate the internal environment, maintain the ideal temperature for plant growth, extending the growing season, improving crop yields, and reducing the reliance on fossil fuels. Solar-powered greenhouses are particularly beneficial in colder climates, enabling year-round crop production and making greenhouse farming more sustainable and energy-efficient.
Figure 12: A greenhouse with mounted photovoltaic panels, optimizing energy use for year-round vegetable production (Source)
2.5 Solar Windows.
Solar windows are an innovative technology that integrates photovoltaic materials into glass surfaces to generate electricity from sunlight. Unlike traditional solar panels, which are mounted on rooftops or open spaces, solar windows allow buildings to harness solar energy without altering their appearance. These windows are transparent or semi-transparent, enabling them to maintain the function of conventional windows while also producing renewable energy.
Figure 13. Illustration of how a solar window system absorbs light and converts it into energy.
The benefits of solar windows are numerous. First, they offer energy efficiency by generating electricity directly from sunlight, reducing dependence on external power sources and lowering energy costs for buildings. Second, their space-saving design is particularly beneficial in urban environments where rooftop or land space may be limited, as they use existing window surfaces to generate power. Third, solar windows have an aesthetic advantage over traditional solar panels, seamlessly blending into architectural designs without compromising the building’s appearance. This makes them an ideal solution for modern, sustainable architecture, combining functionality and sustainability in one integrated system.
3. APPLICATION OF AQUASKY SOLAR EXPANSION TANKS IN THE SOLAR SYSTEMS
In solar heating systems, expansion tanks play a crucial role in maintaining system stability and efficiency. For example, Aquasky’s specially designed Solar Expansion Tank is integrated into solar systems to absorb the changes in fluid volume caused by temperature fluctuations. This helps manage pressure levels and prevents potential damage to components like solar collectors, piping, and heat exchangers. By stabilizing pressure within the system, these tanks ensure optimal circulation of the heat-transfer fluid, enhancing the overall performance and longevity of solar heating systems.
4. CONCLUSION
Solar heating systems offer an efficient solution to modern energy challenges by harnessing solar energy to reduce consumption, lower costs, and minimize greenhouse gas emissions across various sectors - from residential and commercial buildings to agriculture and industrial applications. With advancing technology, they are becoming more efficient and accessible, making them suitable for diverse regions and climates.
