What be it the future?
After petrol and diesel, "electric cars" and solar powered cars being no longer produced?
Maybe "nuclear powered" cars?
or,
Motor vehicles that have not even been thought of in this modern era?
What does the future hold for transportation? ... William

i live in the midwest US, right? and something that's been so fascinating to me is the fact that i spend equal time, roughly, in urban, suburba, and rural areas- and i'm seeing the same renewables growth in all three. solar panels, advertisements for EVs, charging stations, newly installed wind turbines, actual EVs and hybrids on the roads, i've even been able to witness solar panel installations in the city. the buses in my city's fleet are more and more becoming electric or otherwise more sustainable. i see farmers with portable solar and batteries by their houses. people in the suburbs are getting solar installed and bragging about new electric vehicles.
it's becoming more and more commonplace, and it's both affordable and popular to go green. that really gives me hope, honestly. seeing people who don't really care about the environment go environmentally-friendly anyways, because it's profitable, or cool, or cheap, or just because they like it. sure, it's sort of sad, but on the other hand it shows me just how widespread this change is. and it's not a huge thing either!! like i just see new solar or wind or the like and it's more of a "huh. neat" or "we need to look into panels for the house" than anything else. so much hope in the little things like that, in seeing the way the world changes when no one is looking.
having governments and activist organizations working for this is making a change, and it's so beautiful and i'm so lucky that i get to be alive to see the world changing for the better. and my area is experiencing unprecedented growth!! and i see so much of that come with solar. there's like, a gas-station style charging station near me. isn't that awesome? i can't wait to see more of it.
That's awesome!! Thank you for sending this in, that really is so full of hope, especially the fact that it's the midwest and it's happening equally across urban, suburban, and rural settings. That's so great to hear.
The renewables revolution isn't going anywhere, and it's because of just what you said: it's cheaper and easier and more profitable. And it's gonna change the world.

Aptera EV, 2025. The latest version of the radical 3-wheel electric car has been presented at the CES. The car's aerodynamics have been refined at Pininfarina's wind tunnel in Turin, Italy. The bodywork features solar panels that can add up to 40 miles (64 km) of driving per day, with the fully charge vehicle able to travel up to 400 miles (644 km). The company claims to have 50,000 pre-orders for the car though no on-sale date has been announced

When it was stated max didn't like wasting I just have a theory I lived in a poor household when money was always a struggle (currently doing much better) and due to being the eldest my mother always told me to never waste or take anything for granted and I learned to hate wasting food would that be Max's situation? Did he grow up in a poor household when he was younger?
yea he did grow up in a really rough financial situation, which definitely taught him an innate sense of not wanting to waste. also why he's so frugal and only invests in his renovation projects and otherwise lives a pretty basic lifestyle despite making pretty good money

Perth County Barns
Pictures of some of the many barns we pass on our drive through Perth Country to Stratford. Some dilapidated, some unpainted, some professional, some looking handmade. Most shots taking from the moving car. horses grazing! weather with a silo love the grey weathering red barn red truck another red barn with a solar panel! ready to collapse? or is it a giant garage? the more modern…

Local councils love to say "look at these sick-ass renovation mock-ups of that condemned building in the middle of town"
And it's just like, yeah, cool as hell. Never going to happen ever in a million years though.

(photos of solar panel covered shade structures over parking lots. The lower right one is being cleaned by workers on a bucket crane using a ginormous hi-tech squeegie.)
Look, now that we've moved beyond the hypothetical, with "new normal" heat waves of 110° for several days in a row, shaded parking places are the best. And they power lots of recharging stations for our plug-ins and EVs .

🚀🧪💌 - For the fic ask (was gonna send these last night and passed out instead a;ldkj;flkf)
Hfjdjdjxhjss s l e e p
🚀- Do you like to outline your fic first or create as you go?
Little bit of both! The first wall of text just happened in my phone notepad while I was 100% supposed to be putting books away, but when I got back to my pc I put together an outline cus frankly the last fic I got any distance into fell apart cus I wrote myself into a corner and I don't want that to happen again. That being said, the oneshot was a 3 hour manic episode that just sorta poofed into my head fully formed, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ bit of both! I think I prefer an outline though, for the sake of my sanity lol
🧪- do you research for your fics?
Er. Yes and no. Did I spend an ungodly amount of time pouring through literal actual medical journals that I have access to as a librarian to make sure I knew what the fuck i was talking about? Yes. Did i throw that information out the window later because it was inconvenient and fuck it they're both deities anyway? Also yes fjdjdksk i've gone over entirely too much in game stuff to make sure I'm not making up toooo too much, but I also have a tendency to throw accuracy into the wind for the sake of either simplicity or 'this is a bit handwavey but Vibes Harder'
💌- is there a favorite trope you like to write?
I was gonna say this is a hard one to answer because I just haven't written that much But-
There's a very Whumpy lean to everything I've written, finished or unfinished, and it frequently takes a sort of long term inevitability bend at some point. In the One fic I've posted (and abandoned since) Bakugo was going to recover, eventually, but he was going to have to figure out either how to be a hero without his eyes or ears, or find another purpose to strive towards. There's a pile of AAA in my notes about Fi, and how the master sword slowly rotting away over tens of thousands of years must have felt, when she hadn't been able to speak since the very first hero, when she'd been imprisoned inside this rusting breaking frigid metal. The oneshot is essentially a trauma flashback, the whole thing; and the big one is a fistful of excuses and headcanons for why the statues work the way they do, why the traveler can increase their stamina by making offerings to them, what effects having a massive part of yourself sealed away might have, where the energy to wield elements even comes from etc all balled up into a very specific kind of whump and my utter bullshit nonsense shenanigans to heal said specific whump fjdjdkdkk it's a whole mess
Tldr I like to hurt the characters I love, apparently :kermit scream:
Thank you for asking!! This is fun, i have more to say than I thought I would fjfjdk

The study I read said the solar panels could garner enough electricity to run the electronics (lights, radio) but not the engine. Here’s an article that summarizes who’s doing it and why it’s not quite feasible yet.
Okay also I’ve been driving electric cars long enough now to be really emphatic that the fact that they’re not all automatically built with solar panels in the roofs is a scandal.
And somehow almost every time I tell anyone this they roll their eyes and attempt to explain to me that this would not create a perpetual motion machine because of the limitations of the area relative to the power draw of the motor, which is incredibly annoying because that’s not the point.
Yes it’s possible that driving in the sunshine with a solar collector dripping into the battery would net you a little more mileage on that trip before needing recharge, but the usefulness of a solar-topped electric car is that if you drive it someplace–say, to work–and leave it outside in the sun all day, you’ll definitely have more range available by the time you’re ready to head home.
Also if you fuck up your calculations because of the inefficiency induced by cold weather or something and get yourself stranded without anywhere to charge, like halfway up a mountain or, more likely, six miles from home, you can call for rescue or walk away, come back later, and it’ll be able to move again.
This is important because unlike running out of gas you can’t really go get some electricity.

Electric vehicles are here to stay, but charging times and range are still major turnoffs for many buyers. So why not just slap solar panels on the car and drive indefinitely with zero fuel cost? A handful of solar cars are available for pre-order now, but how realistic is the tech? Can solar power provide enough power to extend range and cut charging time?

We're destroying our environment at an alarming rate. But it doesn't need to be this way. Our new channel Planet A explores the shift towards an eco-friendly world — and challenges our ideas about what dealing with climate change means. We look at the big and the small: What we can do and how the system needs to change. Every Friday we'll take a truly global look at how to get us out of this mess.
