Welcome to the Shadow of the Eclipse
October 4-31, 2023
Some introductory notes
The “shadow of the eclipse” is a time period lasting from 10 days before the first eclipse, to three days after the final eclipse. It is recommended not to start anything new, or schedule anything important, during these days - as usual I refer everyone to the 1981 wedding of Lady Diana Spencer to the Prince of Wales, as an example.
Of course we live in a place/time which scoffs at letting astrology help with the timing of events - therefore don’t lose hope if something falls unavoidably within the eclipse shadow. Just be prepared.
I wanted to take a more thorough approach to delineation, this time. I hope it’s helpful.
South Node Solar Eclipse
A solar eclipse happens when the New Moon lies close (in the Zodiac) to either the North Lunar Node, or to the South one. It occurred to me to do a little research on whether which Node is involved, makes any difference - and yes, it does.
Astrologers call the South Node “the dragon’s tail” - Steven Forrest calls the South Node, “the dragon’s butt” - because here we are “pooping out” what we don’t need and can’t use. (One person’s poop, however, is another person’s fertilizer.)
Eclipses conjunct the South Lunar Node, like the October 14 one, have an outflowing (outpooping?) of energy. They tend to feature external events which we have to “rise up to.”
If you’d like to note how these have affected you in the past (always a good idea to check “what happened last time”), here is a list of the previous South Node solar eclipses in this century:
December 14, 2001, 22°56’ Sagittarius
December 4, 2002, 11°58’ Sagittarius
November 23, 2003, 1°14’ Sagittarius
October 14, 2004, 21°06’ Libra
October 3, 2005, 10°19’ Libra
September 22, 2006, 29°20’ Virgo
September 11, 2007, 18°25’ Virgo
August 1, 2008, 9°32’ Leo
July 22, 2009, 29°27’ Cancer
July 11, 2010, 19°24’ Cancer
June 1, 2011, 11°02’ Gemini
July 1, 2011, 9°12’ Cancer
May 20, 2012, 0°21’ Gemini
May 10, 2013, 19°31’ Taurus
April 29, 2014, 8°52’ Taurus
March 20, 2015, 29°27’ Pisces
March 9, 2016, 18°56’ Pisces
February 26, 2017, 8°12’ Pisces
February 15, 2018, 27°08’ Aquarius
January 6, 2019, 15°25’ Capricorn
December 26, 2019, 4°07’ Capricorn
December 14, 2020, 23°08’ Sagittarius
December 4, 2021, 12°22’ Sagittarius
October 25, 2022, 2°00’ Scorpio
October 14, 2023, 21°08’ Libra
Going down that list was a very uncomfortable trip down memory lane for me. When those South Node eclipses affected me, it was generally a harbinger of some difficult “external event” which I had little to no control over - which is not the same thing as saying “it wasn’t my fault.” I brought some of it on myself due to bad decisions. Some karma chickens coming home to roost, in other words. Not all of them were dire, though. One in particular gave me something of a respite from what had been happening in my life - it was conjunct my natal 12th House cusp.
Saros Series “7 South”
This eclipse is part of Saros Series “7 South.” Bernadette Brady writes,
The individual experiencing this series will find that huge obstacles will suddenly and easily clear or, on the negative side, a pending potential crisis will suddenly manifest and move through his or her life very rapidly. Either way the individual will feel that everything is moving at great speed. (The Eagle and the Lark)
Previous Saros “7 South” eclipses in Ms M’s lifetime:
September 11, 1969, 18°53’ Virgo
September 23, 1987, 29°34’ Virgo
October 3, 2005, 10°19’ Libra
Not quite as depressing for me personally.
Whatever Shall We Do?
1) Determine which of your natal houses this eclipse falls in.
2) Determine whether the eclipse makes an aspect to anything in your chart. Use a 1° orb. In my case, the conjunctions, squares, sesquiquads (135°), inconjuncts, and oppositions made the most obvious impacts.
3) If there is a close aspect to a planet, check to see which house(s) that planet rules. One South Node eclipse was conjunct the ruler of my natal 4th House, and I moved three months later.
4) Avoid strenuously negative thoughts. If you put a lot of energy into anticipating that something is going to be horrible and painful and disastrous, well, guess what - that’s exactly what’s going to happen. If you catch yourself falling into a panic, try to refocus the energy into “the best possible outcome.”

Bunch'a World Facts
So because I'm an idiot and only just now realized that you guys probably think me setting Anthony's birthday as "13/02" was a mistake or that it meant February 13th... it doesn't. Plus, the fact that I said the date of Adolescence's death was "November 1st, 3475". Lemme do a lil' bit of a dive. You can ignore this if you want but it does give a lot of context. The facts are under the cut because this is a long post
1) The year is indeed, 3475. This is because this is faaaar in the future. Things have barely advanced in technology. There's still no flying cars, because the real humans wiped themselves out over the span of 2020 - 3049. There's only this huge piece of land + A small amount of islands left. The rest is underwater and everyone speculates, making a whole spectacle of it. There are a lot of species of humanoids now, but namely what can be called "Neo-Humans" 2) There are very few countries left because the two main gods tried to remake the world with what land was left. (I imagine the conversation went something like; "Hey hon... what the FUCK IS THIS?" "What?" "WHY IS RUSSIA NEAR THE BOTTOM?" "Is... I-Isn't Russia always near the bottom...?" "LIFE, BABY, RUSSIA WAS THE BIGGEST, ALMOST TOPMOST COUNTRY-") I'll have a map made soon. 3) Every species ages weirdly as hell now. Neo-Humans age regularly... until they reach age 20. Every five years after age 20, is an actual physical year older. Take Brian. He's physically 32. In a calendarly sense or whatever the hell... he's 80 years old. So Tyler, the oldest, would be 95 years old, even though physically he's 35. So on and so forth. 4) The calendar is a 13 month calendar, dubbed the SAOL calendar. Saol is the Irish word for "Sun". Each month is 28 days/4 weeks. The months in order are January, February, March, April, May, June, SOL (the new month), July, August, September, October, November, December. It takes a slight bit to get used to seeing, but that's how this goes. 5) Holidays have moved, been changed, or been added. In order, we have; - Aquarius season, January 15th - February 14th. The festival lasts three days at the start of the season, January 15th - 17th - Valentine's Day, February 14th - Pisces season, February 15th - March 14th. Festival dates being February 15th - 17th - Aries season, March 15th - April 14th. Festival dates being March 15th - 17th - Saints Day, formerly Saint Patrick's Day, which is to commemorate any of the gods you'd like, March 17th - Easter, which lasts for two days, April 1st - 2nd - Taurus season, April 15th - May 14th. Festival dates being April 15th - 17th - Mother's Day, May 12th - Gemini season, May 15th - June 14th. Festival dates being May 15th - 17th - The entirety of June is Pride Month - Father's Day, June 12th - Cancer season, which starts on June 15th, is paused for the whole "Sun Month" (Sol), and resumes from July 1st - July 14th. Festival dates being June 15th - 17th - The Sun Festival, which is two weeks to commemorate the Sun Goddess and the Solar Eclipse God, Sol 8th - 21st - Leo season, July 15th - August 14th. Festival dates being July 15th - 17th - Virgo season, August 15th - September 14th. Festival dates being August 15th - 17th - Libra season, September 15th - October 14th. Festival dates being September 15th - 17th - Scorpio season, October 15th - November 14th. Festival dates being October 15th - 17th - Halloween, October 28th - Sagittarius season, November 15th - December 14th. Festival dates being November 15th - 17th - Thanksgiving, November 19th - The Moon Festival, which is two weeks to commemorate the Moon Goddess (Wife of the Sun Goddess) and the Lunar Eclipse God (Twin brother to the Solar Eclipse God), December 8th - 21st - Capricorn season, December 15th - January 14th. Festival dates being December 15th - 17th - Christmas Eve, December 24th - Christmas Day, December 25th - New Year's Passover, December 28th - January 1st To those of you who genuinely read this far, I appreciate you all so, so much

Our upcoming new moon is on Sunday 3/10 at 20° Pisces.
This solar-lunar conjunction will be strongly affected by a close (1°) sextile to Uranus in Taurus which will also be directly square to Mars in Aquarius. Mars is action and Uranus often brings injury or accident to the table, so this is a weekend to stay very aware and out of trouble if you can.
Our new moon will also be making a wide conjunction with Saturn (10°) so consequences are on the table and a wide sextile to Jupiter in Taurus (08°) so things may seem larger than life.
The combined energy of Mars + Jupiter + Saturn + Uranus spans the divide from our personal planets to the outer planets - what is going on over the weekend may feel beyond our control.
Gravity (Saturn) has already put this ball in motion, we've just got to let it roll downhill and try to get out of its way if we can.
Every Pisces new moon carries "6" energy (12 (Pisces Moon) + 12 (Pisces Sun) = 24 = 2+4 = 6) - 6 is an introverted number that leads towards staying home and doing less and this particular Pisces new moon also carries "8" energy (6 (Pisces new moon) + 2 (March 2023) = 8) - 8 is our ouroboros number, it is a reminder that what comes around, goes around.
What goes up, must come down.
Again, we come back to the gravity of this situation and this moment.
We are wrapping up something big - something that has been in play since March 2020. This is our last lunar event before we get a whopper eclipse season on the Aries-Libra axis that coincides with Mercury's first full retrograde of 2024.
This lunar event is going to hit hardest for those with personal planets within 5 degrees of 20° Pisces firstly, then Cancer, Scorpio, Virgo, Gemini, and Sagittarius secondly. Aquarius and Taurus might be reeling from this Mars-Uranus square (also sitting right around 20°) and our cardinal signs are in a rough spot from this Chiron-North Node conjunction (around 17°) that will be in effect all month long.
It's not going to feel fun, that's for sure.
It's worth remembering that we are in the dregs of the astrological year - our year begins anew on 3/19 when we enter 00° Aries on the equinox. We may all be sitting with some 12th house shit - if you feel lost in your shadows, know that you are right on time.
See if you can reframe the challenges that are arising in your life right now. Immature Piscean energy can get caught in a really victimized mindset. Even one small change made to better yourself can make a world of difference.
2024: Major Astrology and Monthly Numerology Overview
2024 is an “8” year [2+0+2+4=8]. 8 is the number of the infinity sign and the auroboros. All things come around in an 8-year, you can expect to achieve the highest highs, but also the lowest lows. What goes up must come down in an 8-year, but also, what goes down will come up all over again. The year will be dominated by two major planetary shifts (Pluto enters Aquarius and Jupiter enters Gemini) and a major personal planet retrograde (Mars). Note: Although all of these are important, I have bolded the events that I consider to be especially important.

Beatus Solstitium
Happy Solstice, new moon, and solar eclipse my fellow stargazers. I’m sure all of you can cut this potent celestial energy with a knife. Throw in Mercury’s quarterly retrograde and there’s no doubt your chakras are on overdrive right now. The second half of 2020 has major transformational energy coming our way. And today of all days is the best time to manifest the blessings you want to make their way to you. Manifestation energy is best on a new moon but not only that, solstices and solar eclipses are prime times to do so as well. Unlike Lunar eclipses that are better for banishing and sometimes bring unwanted occurrences or feelings of melancholy, solar eclipses honor their namesake and bring light and benefic changes into our lives. But remember, the universe helps those who help themselves so if you do anything today, even if it’s speaking your intentions out loud, do not be afraid to do so. This is an auspicious time to call in good health, honor, and riches. The current celestial climate brings people together and is a good omen for ending conflict through peace negotiations. That is also a facet of Mercury Rx. Think about it, has anyone from your past come in contact with you again? Are their opportunities coming your way that looked hopeless and grim even just a month ago? For those of you who dabble in cartomancy, feel free to do a spread on what you can expect in the last 6 months of the year and how to get the best out of it? Since Tarot is not affected by Mercury’s backspin [Mercury rules the 6th house of work and routine and Tarot is about the 8th and 12th houses] the messages you received with still be clear. Still, be mindful that other powers are at play, you’ll see this in the social/ societal reconditioning of many nations throughout the world. People are awakening. That’s the energy of Pluto and Saturn retrograde still going on. You might find that you’re asking yourself “is what I’m doing in my day to day, serving my spiritual evolution?” Pay attention if this inquiry crosses your mind. Self-care is paramount during cosmic moments like these. Protecting and nurturing ourselves and others is more important than ever, and that's where we’ll find solace. Changes may even occur without your assistance. Be sure to check your transits but just in case you needed a little help getting started...
How the Solstice/Eclipse will affect your sign:
Aries
You’ll be hit right in the feels. Nostalgia might be at play more than usual and aspects of your home life may shift. In fact, changes in your foundation may shift completely. Are you ready to move out?
Taurus
Speaking from the heart will elevate your power. Why? Because this eclipse will affect your house of communication. You might find yourself having difficult conversations with friends or family members. Look out for misunderstandings [there may be a few] and be sure to approach discussions with as much diplomacy as you can. Your grounded natures can help you find the best solution and come out with fair and balanced understandings from both sides.
Gemini
Pay attention to your coins. Be resourceful with your money and save up. Why? Because the eclipse is affecting your house of income and value. I know your dad is on vacation at the moment but it would be best to use all that analytical prowess and be extra vigilant regarding your savings. Is the gamble on that game really worth it, honey? Make sure there are no glitches in your money flow that could be avoided. Your future self will thank you.
Cancer
It’s your season right now so anything you’re dealing with will most likely affect your house of self. As a result, self-care is paramount. Take time to just sit with your feelings and practice some much-needed TLC. Embrace your emotions and softer sentiments. Utilize mediation [I beg you] and see how a few moments of undisturbed peace can make a difference.
Leo
The same that was said for Cancer can be said for you. The solstice will be affecting your house of spirituality ruled by Neptune. The house of the hidden. Take time to be introspective, meditate, study. Turn your phone off and really take some time to tune out the world. You never know what insights might hit you out of nowhere. What could be revealed to you during your unconscious moments? What you could see or what could be revealed in your dreams.
Virgo
The eclipse will pinpoint your house of friends and community. your place in the world/society as a whole. Don't be shocked if relationships and dynamics within your social group start shifting or redefining themselves. Eclipses bring about inevitable changes, so your acquaintances/friends might be showcasing sides of themselves you didn’t know where there. Their true colors, so to speak, for better or worse.
Libra
This solar blackout will be affecting your house of reputation and career my peace-loving friends. Get ready for some shifts in the way you approach things in your public sector. You're examining and reevaluating where you stand in your work life/space. Changes are inevitable here. It’s up to you to make the most of it. Will you?
Scorpio
The house of exploration and the higher mind is getting hit from all sides, my fellow arachnids. Jupiter is working overtime here. You might find yourself daydreaming about new places, exploration, etc. In general, higher-minded activities will bring you happiness. Learning new things from different people from different places can bring you more wealth and happiness than you’d expect.
Sagittarius
Heavy 8th house energy coming at you, Sag. Your house of transformation will be affected by this solar eclipse. Resources, other people’s money or inheritances, what people find mysterious and raw about you or aspects of your life, sex in general. But you might find freedom in realizing where you can push your boundaries. Enjoy the transformative ride toward growth.
Capricorn:
House of relationships and love will be at the forefront of this eclipse for you. Love may create issues, so boundaries are important. Take time for yourself. Take time to listen to the one you feel is most important to you. Your relationships in general could see some changes. By taking the time to really evaluate what’s going on, you can isolate any molehills before they become mountains.
Aquarius
6th house energy hitting you all day, Aqua. Your daily routines, mundane matters, schedules, work-- all of that. Changes will be seen there. You may even find yourself seeking a new routine. Go for it. It will be beneficial to your overall vibe.
Pisces
Hope you all are doing okay out here. For such an empathetic sign, the current energies have to be a lot for you to handle. This is why you’ll need to may attention to what makes you happy. Your house of pleasure and fun, children, and merriment will be affected during this time. You’ll see changes occurring there that will bring sweet sweet rewards. Connections deepening with others. Stronger ties. Questions that you’ve always had about these things? Now’s the time to discuss them.

my advice for mercury retrograde in cancer: june 18-july 12 2020
so, mercury going retrograde happens about 3 times a year and usually isn’t the biggest deal. however, the astrology of 2020 is not very auspicious so neither is this mercury rx when it’s a puzzle piece to the bigger picture of this year. this mercury rx will be joined by a solar eclipse on the 21st of june, a lunar eclipse on the 5th of july, and will be besieged by the two malefic planets, mars and saturn, once mars enters aries on june 27th and saturn enters capricorn on the 1st of july. there’s still no need to fret! here’s the best advice for this time period i can offer as a traditional astrologer:
• get in touch with what brings you comfort. what makes you feel safe? what secures your place in society? try to think of how your sense of security ties to other people. there is going to be a shift from thinking about the individual to thinking about the collective. this is a good time to reevaluate societal norms and what you think should be changed once mercury stations direct.
• decide who you want to keep in your life and who you consider “family.” you may have a falling out with a family member in july.
• i would recommend journaling. you will probably have a lot of emotional turmoil that you won’t be able to verbally express due to blockages. you’ll need to find alternative methods of expressing these volatile emotions rather than speaking to others.
• please be wary of your tone and projections when you’re interacting with others. also be wary that others around you are experiencing the same thing. this time period will bring up a lot of rash, immature reactions to situations. try to think before you speak because this will be an easy time to say things you don’t truly mean then end up regretting it later. recognize that others also may say things to you they don’t truly mean. try to practice empathy as best you can.

Saturday, August 8, 2020 – Astrotransits
Uranus slows down to turn retrograde. There is a possibility of seismic activity, or shakes in the economy. Financial markets are very unstable and may take a hit, especially considering the overall circumstances around the world. Uranus rules the sky, flying objects, planes, the weather and meteorology. With intensified energy due to his apparent slowed down motion in the sky, Uranus may cause strange or unexpected phenomena or incidents related to any of those. Uranus is also associated with sudden bouts of clear consciousness, clairvoyance, and ‘eureka’ moments. You may surprise yourself realizing or understanding something important regarding a subject you’ve been studying or thinking about.
Overnight from Thursday to Friday, the Moon in Aries square Venus now exactly at 0º Cancer, which reactivates the themes of the June 21, 2020 Solar Eclipse. Certain events related to your home life or emotional comfort then may be revived for you to resolve. Your mood drives you to do what you want, impulsively and probably selfishly, because you are hypersensitive today. Your lover doesn’t get you, you feel hurt, even though none was intended on the part of the ‘other”. Over protection and care my not suit you today, because you rather do something independently. You may avoid the home environment or pleasing your family members; instead you prefer going out and spend your energy doing something that satisfies your own desires. You probably choose a physical activity, sport, or heavy manual work. Your egocentric focus today, doesn’t allow you to consider, much less satisfy the desires of others, attend any social demand, or fulfill any financial responsibility related to family.
Early in the day, the Moon conjoins Chiron, and the perceived wounds related to your individuality are exacerbated for some reason. The waning Moon, still big though, sheds light on a vulnerability of yours and you’re made aware of the need to courageously face it. “I’m not good enough” may be the theme here, and you’re required to look at yourself objectively, count your qualities, abilities, talents, and virtues. Focus on your achievements in order to stand strong on your self-esteem all the while recognizing the real issues you need to work on. It is a very personal and introspective process that doesn’t need to involve ‘another’.
The day ends on a very fiery mood, with the Moon trine the Sun and square Jupiter, and overnight conjoining Mars! Emotions can become dramatic, you may have great displays of feelings, even with a boost of assertiveness if not aggression. Once again, moderation will be a good word to keep in mind today. Make it a nice day! Sat Nam.

A Mindful (R)evolution of Values: A Meditation on the 2020 Summer Solstice/Cancer New Moon Eclipse
Hey Truthseekers, Happy Juneteenth and Happy Summer Solstice!
Acclaimed American writer and social critic James Baldwin wrote, “Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.”
I’ll add to his sentiment the following: What a difference a year makes!
Do you agree?
If you do, can I get an amen?
Aaaaaaaaaaa-men.
Can we all also agree that 2020 ushered in conditions that are forcing us to face all of the things that we know need to be changed?
Can I get an amen?
Aaaaaaaaaaa-men.
Alright. So here we are again, shout out to those of us who live in the Northern Hemisphere. Today is the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year. Check out the chart of the moment below.
But this isn’t a garden variety Summer Solstice my friends. Today’s Summer Solstice quickly shifts into a Cancer New Moon solar eclipse! The chart of that moment follows.
In Philadelphia, the Summer Solstice is marked by the Sun moving into sensitive, family-oriented Cancer today at 5:44 pm EDT. The Cancer sun will be joined by the Cancer moon tomorrow in the early morning hours. Because the node is involved, we’re talking about a solar eclipse, where the moon will partially obscure the Sun.
In a lot of ways, we will be flying blind, but we have all of the energetic and humanistic connections we need to feel our way through.
Let’s begin by taking a look at the Sun. The last aspect it will make before changing signs is a conjunction to the transiting Gemini North Node. The Node represents the people, and in Gemini, we see the people being energized, vocal, connected and ready to come together to give life to the tremendous change needed in the world. Gemini also speaks to news, communication, data and information, and no one will disagree that it comes fast and furious and sometimes it’s hard to keep up. The thing that we can agree on is that all signposts are pointing toward some major seismic shifts.
However, not all of us are ready for change. If we look to the 2nd house of values and resources, Pluto in Capricorn, the chart ruler, is retrograde and blending energetically with Jupiter, which is also retrograde. Both of these planets are intercepted - representing energy hidden from our conscious awareness - in the 2nd house.
Capricorn represents power, and with Pluto and Jupiter aligned but retrograde, we’re talking about an effort among power brokers to try to recover and regain its footing. Power rarely concedes ground to that which it feels it can control, and right now we can surmise that the traditional power structure will do whatever it needs to, to maintain the status quo, to control the messaging and the resultant outcomes, and misrepresent the events on the ground, including wrongly attributing to peaceful protestors (Uranus in Taurus) looting and acts of violence by fringe elements (Saturn retrograde in Aquarius). Those in power will not be above playing dirty tricks.
The Gemini moon (the dispositor of the Cancer Sun and making a tense energetic aspect to the 4th house Mars in Pisces) stands at the cusp of the 8th house, showing us that before change can happen, we’ve got to draw lines in the sand, starting with our family members. However, we need to acknowledge Mercury retrograde in Cancer, which is in mutual reception with that Gemini moon. There are those among us, who are good at talking the talk, but aren’t quite ready to walk the walk. They have their own demons to face and exorcise. The good thing is that eventually, they will come around, but it’s going to take time.
There’s an African American saying that goes something like this: “All skinfolk ain't your kinfolk.” And if you turn this sentiment inside out, it suggests that now is the time to make and/or solidify new kinfolk connections that transcend blood and DNA. You’re gonna need them.
I want to strongly emphasize the following point: Everyone in our tribe is not our friend, knows what we know, shares our values, or cares about what we care about. It’s high time that this fact be openly acknowledged and definitively acted upon. The challenge becomes, how do we manage the separation, the defense of the lines drawn in the sand?
With Mars in the 4th house of family, ancestral roots and endings, familial bonds will be severely tested. There have been and will continue to be, heated conversations, disagreements and arguments between family members about what’s unfolding. Don’t be surprised if this year’s Summer Solstice marks the beginning of the eventual end of many long-standing family relationships.
The bottom line with this year’s Summer Solstice is this: We know what the deal is. Like James Baldwin wrote: “Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.”
We have incontrovertible evidence of what’s broken. Denial and resistance is futile. We have no excuses left for why things must stay the same. Change has to happen on several fronts. Choose your issue, find your tribe and get involved. We need all hands on deck to effect meaningful, sustainable change. The new normal is here to stay.
The work over the next 6 months is about humbling ourselves to the idea that there is so much to learn about our neighbors and that we need to be okay with knowing that we don’t know what we thought we did. Being open to that learning will drive our individual and collective growth and evolution. This learning won’t come from traditional sources - it’s clear that much if not all of our institutions and customs are corrupt and fear-based and intentionally buried a great deal of history while engaging in a long-standing propaganda campaign designed to malign and marginalize wide swaths of our citizenry and deny them full and unfettered access to the American experience.
Listening and learning must happen in the context of forming and sustaining relationships with people outside of our primary tribes. We must be willing to not only consume, but embrace the stories and lived experiences of others with empathy and respect, while accepting that over the last few months, the common thing that we share - regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, etc. - is that we have all had to adapt to extraordinary circumstances (the public health and economic fallout from COVID-19) and focus on survival.
The progress we make along these fronts, over the next six months, will light the way as we head into a new cycle marked by the historic Jupiter/Saturn conjunction in Aquarius.
Are you ready to roll up your sleeves and do the work? I hope so. It will be well worth it. Stay safe and look out for your tribe.
Peace and blessings,
Tieshka

Energy Update: Solar Eclipse 00° Cancer
I would be amiss if I didn't talk about the solar eclipse happening this weekend at 00° Cancer. Do you feel it yet - the entire world holding its breath? Waiting for something to happen?
To use the analogy that keeps coming to mind - its almost officially Summah (astrological indicated by the Summer Solstice when the Sun enters 00° Cancer) - imagine for a second that you are standing on a beach. It's a beautiful day but eerily still - the birds have stopped circling and crying. Slowly, the water starts to recede - not just the tide going out slowly with each wave but quickly revealing swathes of sand that are always covered by water.
Something is coming.
Some solar shifts come in with gentle energy - this is not one of those solar shifts. With the five retrogrades (including Mercury recently retrograded in Cancer), the solar eclipse occurring at the same degree, and the solar ingress into Cancer being conjunct our N. Node - Cancer season is going to come in like a tsunami.
I do not say this to be an alarmist - rather, I believe that when used proactively, astrology can save you a lot of stress and heartache. By being aware of the energies, we are better able to navigate through them - perhaps swim through them is a better choice of words right now?
Venus has been out of bounds in a lot of ways through this retrograde cycle - below the surface - often unattainable without deep thought and deep insight. Venus in Gemini is more thoughtful than emotional - it is arguably one of the least compassionate and empathic placements of Venus in the natal horoscope. If you are uncomfortable or unused to Venus in Gemini energy, you may be feeling out of touch with your normal emotions, your feelings of compassion, the ways in which you normally connect on a heart-centric level with others. I feel the need to stress that this is completely normal for this point in the Venus in Gemini retrograde cycle. Not that that necessarily makes it feel any better.
Said in another way - it's been REALLY dry out there.
And we're in for a deluge. Don't get me wrong - we need the water but this much all at once is likely to feel quite overwhelming to even the most watery of individuals. We've all been dried out over the last couple of months, you will be well advised to enter the stream slowly. Test the waters before you jump in, make sure that you are ready to swim.
There's going to be a pretty intense riptide running through the currents this weekend and probably through the next two weeks at least as the collective unconscious begins to emotionally process what has been brought to light through this intense Venus retrograde cycle. It is going to be easier the normal to be pulled under - to stand in a place of reaction rather than reason, to drown in your own emotional baggage.
The adage always goes: put your gas mask (life preserver?) on first before you help others. To follow the tsunami analogy: I'm giving you a few days notice to find your high ground. Now is a good time to build up your water defenses before the current comes rushing back in - where are you most in alignment? Where are you most out of alignment? Are you in your own lane? What can you most do to help yourself right now?
Eclipses are deep, karmic events that shape human history. That this one is sitting on the point of cosmic consciousness (represented by the N. Node of the moon) is not coincidental - everything may feel painful and fated right now. Pay attention to what is coming up - if you are suddenly losing or gaining things right now - it is likely a sign of the ways that your life needs to shift. It can be helpful to remember that life is happening for us, not to us.
That we can always change and be better. It is our birthright as humans.
Try not to over-identify with the events that are happening right now. Watch our for emotional dysregulation and blaming. Take a break from anything that you can walk away from that is triggering you or keeping you in your emotions. We all need to ride this wave but we don't need to drown in it.

New Moon in Sagittarius: New Beginnings
The New Moon on December 4th is a solar eclipse in the sign of Sagittarius. What makes this transit meaningful is that it will be the final eclipse cycle in the Gemini/Sagittarius axis that began on June 5th, 2020. We’ve already experienced the beginning of the Taurus/Scorpio axis cycle in November which will have different themes from this current cycle. The eclipses in Gemini and Sagittarius, these two mutable powerhouses, have allowed us to learn a lot more about changes in our lives that are linked to how we communicate and our ideologies. Think back on how this cycle has changed your mindset and the way you connect with others. Now that we enter the close of this period, this New Moon will have us all contemplating our philosophy for the next six months. Although the nodes have shifted, we will still see the impact that this 18-month transit had on us for just a few more months. See how this solar eclipse will impact your rising, sun, and moon signs.
Aries – We have entered the fire season and this transit will have you feeling a lot more energized and focused. You might be more willing to put your thoughts on paper, discover new books, interact with more people or set your sights on getting more involved with your education. That stagnant energy will begin to dissipate as you set your sights on greater things.
Taurus – During this time you will reminisce and be more nostalgic. The New Moon will highlight topics that might still be lingering in your psyche. This 18-month cycle in the Gemini-Sagittarius axis has allowed you to experience transformative periods that have helped you find your sense of strength.
Gemini – Since this New Moon will impact your relationship house, expect to feel this quite strongly. It represents a close to the chapters that might have been lingering on your mind for quite some time involving past relationships. The nodes in your sign have taught you a lot more about your independence, goals, and the vision you are trying to create. Reflect on how far you’ve come.
Cancer – Patience will be a keyword for you during this transit. There will be a lot of responsibilities building but you feel confident enough to tackle each obstacle that comes your way. The nodes have taught you about focusing more on yourself and becoming more organized with your career goals. You will have no problem achieving and succeeding.
Leo – Lovely energy for you as this transit is going to make you feel radiant, confident, and ready to take on the world. The New Moon will bring you a much-needed change of pace and more optimism. You could meet new people or begin a creative project you’ve been contemplating for a while.
Virgo – This transit is going to bring a dynamic change to your environment. You will feel a lot more optimistic when it comes to home and work. If you feel that it is tough to strike a balance, this is your time to see things in a clearer way that can bring you much ease.
Libra – Confidence is a keyword during this transit. The playful energy of this New Moon is going to make you feel ready to take on the world and to make your dreams a reality. Connecting with others gives you the courage and fearlessness you’ve desired.
Scorpio – The eclipse cycle has taught you a lot about how you value yourself. This New Moon will bring you optimism when it comes to managing your finances and how you view your material possessions. This is a transit about learning and growing in time for the next eclipse axis in your sign.
Sagittarius – You have gained a lot of understanding and tapped into your power during this 18-month transit with the nodes in your axis. There have been lessons that have transformed you, so now you need to understand and reflect on how much you have changed and where you see yourself as the nodes have shifted.
Capricorn – With this New Moon transit, you are going to learn a lot more about taking breaks, being patient, and considering some much-needed recharging time (if you need it). We prepare for Capricorn season to begin soon, so reflect and do things that bring you happiness and relaxation for the time being.
Aquarius – During this transit, you will feel luck and joy from your connections. Your friends are your greatest support system during this transit, so they can lift your spirits and give you great ideas to build more.
Pisces – As a mutable sign, you will experience this transit quite powerfully as the New Moon highlights the highest point in your chart. This is your sign to focus on your vision and dreams to make them a reality. You can begin to make plans that will bring success for the next six months.
