good news! i have exactly one minute of this match thanks to begging my girlfriend on my hands and knees and it looks.. well, exactly how i expected it to look LOL but nonetheless, it's a step closer to finding the whole thing

i'm not sure if this has been uploaded onto the internet yet but i thought i'd leave a little update because i quite literally have been laying on my floor and staring at the ceiling trying to understand how my GIRLFRIEND from NEW YORK happened to be in CALIFORNIA that week with her cousin specifically the night of this match when she was a fan of NEITHER of them. the fact that she never brought this up until earlier this week is driving me insane because she saw brody king here too ????

she also said she remembers jack getting thrown off the stage at some point which is killing me because that's a Darby Thing

anyway she has a few videos we're trying to grab off the cloud (not the full match unfortunately but maybe if we can get ahold of her cousin) and i think this one was taken by either her or her cousin, we're not sure yet because it was such a long time ago

i found her cousins twitter so i'm going to go bug him until he responds. either that or i'm sucking the match out of his brain with a straw the next time i see him

also. um. the way darby smiles when jack picks up the kendo stick has altered my brain chemistry by the way. why did he look at him like that. i'm gonna die jesus christ

Sentimental Favourites: SCU Vs The Young Bucks

Hey, this is a new thing I'm doing. I want to talk about matches that aren't necessarily the best matches ever, but I really like them and they hold a special place in my heart.

Ok so the build to this was the classic 'tag team goes on a run where the next match they lose will be their last' and I gotta say I am always a sucker for this trope. And also there's sentimentality in the team of SCU. They were the first AEW Tag Champions and love of this team goes back past the start of AEW, to BTE, to Bad Influence/The Addiction in TNA.

Now this match happened before I started using Fite to watch Dynamite. So the only way my British arse was going to watch this match that she really wanted to see was if she somehow avoided spoilers all the way from Wednesday to Friday when Dynamite was broadcast on ITV. But I fucking managed it. I avoided all the spoilers and I did not know who had won this match. I got to watch it completely blind.

And it kinda broke my heart.

Because SCU lost.

But it's okay. Because like all things come to an end and it's a great match! Obviously the main thing to mention is how much Daniels bled. Which is poignant since Daniels has seemingly just retired in a similar bloodbath.

But as good as Daniels is, I also want to shoutout Kaz here. As he is forced to valiantly fight through most of the match on his own, as CD bleeds to death. He puts in a really impressive babyface performance carrying the weight of nearly a decade of tagging with Daniels. And Kaz gives his all to try and save the team.

But unfortunately they are up against one of the greatest tag teams of all time. And 2021 Young Bucks make for some AMAZING bullying heels. They spit in the faces of SCU and refuse to show any respect or love to these peers that Matt and Nick have known for a large portion of their careers. Of course there's the memorable spot from this match where Matt sarcastically shouts "I'M SORRY. I LOVE YOU!" before superkicking Daniels' bloody face so hard that it might as well of ended SCU right then and their without the pinfall needing to be necessary. Milage varies on this but I really like it.

I remember this match fondly. Partly because of the lengths I went to watch it spoiler-free but also because of how well it works as a closing of a chapter for these two men.

ok yall heres my thoughts for a potential olympics au.

price boxes. 100 percent. no clue why but he just has the Vibes. it’s definitely not his first olympics. he’s getting close to retiring from the olympics (which no is not an old man joke, they genuinely just have a very small age window to be like in their prime to compete. simone biles is 27 and she’s considered on the older side for olympic athletes).

gaz does gymnastics. look at him man he just looks like a gymnast. it’s his first olympics and while he’s not really an underdog he’s not very well known. he is however definitely getting the stephen nedoroscik treatment (immediately becoming the country’s sweetheart, having tons of fan edits, etc).

soap plays soccer (IT’S CALLED SOCCER 🦅🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸) as a goalie and again, scotland’s sweetheart. they eat him UP. i mean look at him why wouldn’t they. he and gaz become immediate friends in the village and post online together. they make jokes on tiktok about getting freaky on the cardboard beds (ilona maher and nicole heavirland style) and no one ever shuts up about it. he’s new to the olympics as well.

ghost plays rugby because he’s massive and angry. i feel like this is his second olympics and he’s lowkey still mad his team lost last time but he’s pretending not to be ���� he doesnt participate much in the dicking around, but since he, price, and gaz are all team england he gets spotted in some of the online shenanigans (can u tell i pay more attention to the athletes goofing off online than the actual games)

farah i feel does beach volleyball. shes tall (5’8” which is crazy because she looks SHORT next to some of the other characters) so good for volleyball, and i’d imagine urzikstan’s team would unfortunately be pretty small considering. yk. so they might only have enough athletes for beach volleyball since it only requires 2 players. im imagining this to be set in a world where farah wasn’t leading the ulf but the occupation and stuff still happened, but it’s over and urzikstan is slowly healing again. throughout the competition farah is very vocal about her pride for her country and she talks about her brother and parents, and says that she’s competing in honor of them. she also becomes one of those athletes that everyone roots for no matter where theyre from, simply because of a) how good she is, and b) the way she speaks about her family and her country, and how emotional it makes people.

alex surfs. look at that man and tell me he doesnt surf. i know we agreed he’s from some podunk midwest town but i can also totally imagine him being from like socal and being the most doofy surfer dude. he meets farah in the olympic village and is immediately infatuated. also i feel like he would have an obsession with one of the foods there like that norwegian swimmer with his chocolate muffins and post about it online.

(again can yall tell i pay more attention to the athletes dicking around on tiktok than the sports)

i wanna say rudy and alejandro both do equestrian because yk. vaqueros. but i cant tell if it’s too on the nose. let me know ur thoughts.

laswell does archery. i believe its one of the sports that is more likely to have “older” athletes (although i could be wrong) and i imagine laswell is like 45 ish. lesbians love her. this is not her first rodeo she has olympic’d before. people see her talking to alex on the boat during the opening ceremony and theyre like “is she his mom or smth wtf???” bc they look similar and they eventually just lean into it. like yeah this is my mom she’s like 7 years older than me. dont think about it too hard the numbers make sense. i swear.

könig wrestles because he’s massive. i fear booktok gooners would obsess over him and it would simultaneously give him a huge ego boost but also make him deeply uncomfortable. he’s a good wrestler tho so he toughs it out 😭 the gooners see him without the doofy little wrestler cap for the first time, realize he’s fugly, and move on. he can live in peace again.

horangi does shooting because i keep seeing that hot korean shooter kim yeji everywhere and shes so cool. also bc horangi is in the military in game so um. yeah. dude is cool as fuck and he knows it.

Fallen Angel's Flight: A Retrospective on the Legendary Career of Christopher Daniels.

As we loom over what’s to be reported as Christopher Daniels final in-ring match (report) - I wanted to revisit his long & spanning 32 year career (1993, to now.) His journey through the wrestling world is a remarkable tale of resilience, skill, and evolution.

I make the argument that the last ten years have encapsulated some of the most defining moments of his career.

However this retrospective will  intertwine what has led to his ‘Texas Death Match’ versus Hangman Adam Page (as of 01.18.2025.)

Daniels has solidified his place as one of wrestling's most respected and beloved figures, both by fans and the myriad of peers he has made along the way.

CD is a living example that innovation and evolution is a craft in the world of professional wrestling that at times feels like a dying art form. What truly sets him apart in the final years of his career - is his ability to blend experience with the hunger of youth. His matches have remained as captivating as ever, akin to Daniels' aura remaining frozen and timeless. I won’t be covering the entire oral history, but what I feel is pivotal to making my point.

Ring Of Honor (2002 - 2007):

February 23rd, 2002: CD makes his company debut at their inaugural show “The Era of Honor Begins.” [Vs Brian Danielson and Low Ki.] After falling to the two, the birth of CD’s stable “The Prophecy” followed. The group’s goal was to give the biggest middle finger to the company’s ‘Code Of Honor’ and sportsmanship. (Members: BJ Whitmer, Dan Maff, & Donovan Morgan.)

(2003- 2007): The stable would go on to have a company defining feuds against CM Punk (with his Second City Saints), Samoa Joe & Aj Styles.

The Return (2010-2023):

After focusing on the trajectory of his career in ‘Total Nonstop Action’ (TNA Wrestling) and his prior expired contract. This is where I make my case entirely.

His return as ‘The Fallen Angel’ revived my personal interest in the company, and it felt like everyone was guessing what would come next. Though upon his return, I genuinely feel like he didn’t hit his stride once more until;

The Addiction:

Bringing his ignitive chemistry with Frankie Kazarian over to the ROH roster truly has created something that can never be replicated. I still jam to their theme song, but that’s besides the point. I remember sitting in front of the tv and being hooked onto every word during their introduction promo.

To this day, I still feel like they were something much much greater than what was left on tape. Upon beating The Young Bucks for the world tag team championship belts at ‘Supercard of Honor VIII’, it made me realize that no team was untouchable like they were.

Especially to bring down a team so renowned like Nick and Matt Jackson.

I cannot go without mentioning that despite them being the dirtiest of heels, they always found a way to elevate the division as a whole.

Even to those who seemed like they didn’t need it [The Kingdom, ReDragon, EVEN The Briscoe’s], but somehow revitalized and brought the best out of their opponents.

I would be amiss NOT to include the irrevocable answer to the big corporation’s “TLC” that was this ladder war from ROH’s 2016 ‘All Star Extravaganza’ as a prime example.

Daniels would go on later to assume the role of mentor, alongside Kazarian to Scorpio Sky in 2017. Dubbing themselves ‘SoCal Uncensored’.

The Final Face-Off:

In the timetable of CD’s multitude of main quests, there leads me to one man who’s crossed paths with Daniels quite a lot within the span of over a decade. Hangman Adam Page.

Be it through the canonical events of “Being The Elite” (2016-2024), or when an 18 year old Hangman cut his “first promo” during his days of SCWA, back in 2010.

Talk about a deep cut.

If you’ve kept up with the All Elite, the feud between Daniels and Page has been brewing for quite awhile now. If you’re a TL;DR person, the feud is well summed up in this hype package. If you don’t experience some form of wrestling euphoria after watching it, then I implore you to stick around regardless.

The What-If Of It All:

I’m not here to argue pedantics over how the booking begins to work in AEW. However, I WILL offer an alternative timeline or what I think would have been quite a lead up to CD’s final match and reported ‘in ring retirement’.

In my humblest opinion, it is a rare occurrence that story lines all but write themselves or naturally occur enough to make sense. This is where I get a little ‘Spider-Verse’ with everything or if you will;

If you’ve been following AEW as of late, or are just taking stock- there’s a current storyline ongoing between MJF & Jeff Jarrett (who’s billed as the ‘Director of business development.’)

The entire premise is Double J having one more wind in him, thus signing a performance contract with the company. Shocker - I know, MJF spoils Jeff’s parade by revealing in an in-ring promo that the contract was ONLY for a year.

Sound familiar? I’m only inferring that we’ve seen this happen before with none other than Daniels. In 2018, ROH had an ongoing story-line that his stable “SoCal Uncensored” had the clock ticking on their contracts.

A one year stipulation that sent the trio on a mad quest to chase gold one last time. According to the fine folks at Fightful, CD revealed the story-line was meant to lead to his retirement (but plans thus changed). While SoCal moseyed on over to the All Elite in 2020, these plans unfolded before the company was even a concept.

Overall, what I’m merely trying to say is this: I won’t gripe over the booking. Though, all of the stars have aligned impeccably well to suggest that the build up to the ‘Texas Death Match’, could have taken the “one year left” concept, ran with it, AND nailed a two point conversion.

While too much of something can be a bad thing, it still makes me wonder.

To CD:

Thank you for creating a remarkable path that will forever be ingrained in us wrestling fans’ collective memory. For showing us what it was like to adore and (at times) hate you in all of your good and bad glory.

You accomplished a batshit crazy amount of things in this industry, yet even outside of the ring you’ve selflessly uplifted the next generation of those who lace up their boots.

No matter what these two men; Matthew and Nicholas, accomplish. Overcome. Get through. Or even create, they will still be hated, overlooked, and discredited. And it breaks my heart. Two SoCal kids who came from nothing and became legends along with creating such a change — such a revolution in pro wrestling deserve their damn flowers. Even if I wasn’t a fan (Which I obviously am), I’d still give them the credit that they so rightfully deserve. Hate em? Love em? Indifferent? Doesn’t matter — put some respect on their names for once.

It took balls to step outside of what was considered the “norm” in pro wrestling, with the risk of being blacklisted, and they did it! They changed the game and are the best damn tag team out there.
