As per usual, it’s DP crossover with (probably) DC, although you could probably adjust it for other fandoms

A little kid and his mother are trick or treating in another city, perhaps at some kind of event rather than knocking on doors, and the kid is dressed as Phantom. It’s very adorable, with his little ghost-shaped bucket and clearly homemade and already stained costume—listen, white only works if you can just fly over street grime or phase it out of your clothes—and his slightly I’ll fitting wig. The kid is SO happy to be out and about dressed as his favorite, and maybe even showed it off to Phantom back in Amity Park before his family left.

The hero, insert whoever you wish here, is probably in civvies and just enjoying the event. The kid, meanwhile, is so glad when people ask who he is so he can explain, and so- the hero gets to hear ALL ABOUT the local town hero who is probably pretty small time despite the kid’s clearly exaggerated stories. The hero certainly never heard of him, but the kid’s mom confirms that Phantom really was the town hero, despite some mixed reviews of the poor guy.

“Did you manage to show him your costume?” the hero asks.

“Yeah! We went down to the cemetery to leave flowers and I got to show him my costume.”

Wait. Cemetery? Maybe it was part of theme, because Phantom had to be named that for a reason, but… it sounded like…

The kid ignores the suddenly VERY still hero and instead turns to his mom. “Momma, do you think we should bring him candy? He doesn’t get to trick or treat like we do, and I can work super hard to get him a bunch!”

The kid’s mom just smiles. “We could, but maybe we should bring him something homemade. I bet he’d like something more filling, teen boys like him have a hollow leg.”

The kid wrinkles his nose. “Like Vernie with the pizza bagels?”

“Like your cousin, yes. We can make some cinnamon rolls and take them to his memorial, maybe bring some of the apples from your grandpa’s garden…”

The hero is pretty much forgotten as the two-part family wanders off, not quite intentionally forgetting the hero is there so much as the hero somewhat accidentally ended the conversation when they just froze and didn’t ask anything further.

Not that the hero didn’t want to. But they’d learn something very serious.

One—there was a small town hero they’d never heard of. Two—that hero was apparently a teen. Third—most pressingly, the teen hero was both beloved enough to have kids dressing up as him and dead enough to have a grave.

This… might require some phone calls.

Ghost being absolutely fuming that they've been called in to do security on a Pride parade because for fuck sake he is SAS not a babysitter but it's all high security because of the political climate so there he is stationed in a sniper nest on top of one if the buildings.

He def gets angrier and angrier watching Soap working street level through his sniper rifle because he keeps interacting with the people going by. He keeps fucking FLIRTING with them. And he's flirting with MEN. It irritates him so much that when they get off shift he can't help but follow Soap to see where he goes.

Simon Riley very quickly comes to terms with his own sexuality when Johnny gets on his knees for him in a club bathroom that evening, grinning up at him after swallowing and telling him 'Happy Pride' <3

sometimes i think about how wild a mw2 movie would be if they just dropped soapghost right in the middle with no warning or marketing. like imagine it being beat for beat the exact same, it’s your typical military action movie, promoted as just another military action movie then after they get to the safe house, ghost has to patch up soap and he’s still out of it, overwhelmed by the betrayal and everything he’s seen and ghost needs to ground him and keep him in the present, to remind him that he’s alive and safe so he kisses him and they have sex. the tantrums and the rants and the “ReAl sOLdiErS aRen’t liKe ThAt”, god i can taste it and it’s delicious

Day 140: ‘man’

Are we not going to talk about the fact that Rudy survived aiming a gun at Soap in Ghost’s presence? Red laser sight and all. Even had the time to take the shot.

Granted, he got a knife thrown at him, but Ghost wasn’t trying to hit him; he wouldn’t have spoken and wouldn’t have hit the wood several inches away from where Rudy’s head had been if he was trying to hit him. And if Ghost had been trying to kill him, Rudy would be dead.

This happened right after the Alone mission. Ghost had to be still tense from that. Tense because of the realization that he was sick with worry about Soap when he was out of sight and in danger where Ghost couldn’t get to him. Tense because, even though Soap was alive and with him now, they were still surrounded by enemies and he had to make sure Soap stayed alive.

Ghost was in full soldier mode, relying on his battlefield knowledge and instincts to get Soap and himself to safety.

So tell me why he didn’t aim to kill when he saw that flash of red? Why did he give Rudy the benefit of the doubt before he knew it was Rudy? Was it because he was operating on the assumption that anyone in the safe house would likely be friendly? If so, why did he throw the knife at all? Precaution? Don’t aim to kill because it could be a friendly, but throw the first punch in case it isn’t? But if it was an enemy, the knife that he wasn’t aiming to kill with wouldn’t have stopped the enemy from taking the shot.

So what was he doing? Could he really just not handle Soap being in anyone’s sights and reacted before he thought, not aiming to kill because it was more likely to be a friendly? Was he hoping the knife would startle whoever it was enough that he could determine who it was? Give him the time to pull his gun if it was an enemy?

He had to be thinking. Thinking of some plan or other because he doesn’t do anything without thinking it through all the way, from every possible angle. There was no way he was just reacting, no matter how the red dot on Soap’s body made him feel.

I, evidently, have so many questions. I need to know what was going through his head.

Soap isn't proud that his first reaction is bitter jealousy aimed towards some poor omega he doesn't know before his brain catches up and it switches to abject horror.

Philip Graves has a bite mark on him. It's small, he'd guess some little female maybe. Soap doesn't have any claiming marks, practically nobody in their line of business does. It's not right, not when an omega can feel everything their pack goes through, not when intense pain transfers. Even him, an omega but one prepared for pain and death, has never dared suggest any claiming bites to his team. They would say no anyway no matter how much they loved him or wanted him. It's a cruel fate being an omega tied to soldiers.
