Name: Ace Hearts
Story: Long Live the Queen
Parents: Queen Of Hearts
Face claim: Curran Walters
Love interest: Evie
Summary: Contrary to popular belief, Ace Hearts was perfectly content with being his sister’s left hand man.  He'd wanted to help her run the isle since long before she’d ever dreamt of doing such a thing.  Being her enforcer, her advisor, her defender in her reign was all he’d ever wanted.  There shouldn’t have been any problem.  Only, there was.  Ace wanted more.  Specifically, he wanted a certain blue haired princess who’d devoted herself to good and to saving the children of the Isle.  But as the changing tides in Auradon start to reflect back onto the Isle, Ace finds he might have to make a choice.

Name: Princess Ada
Story: Untitled
Parents: Adam
Face claim: Sadie Soverall
Summary: Auradon didn’t hold much value for second born royals, least of all girls.  Princess Adelaide knew that her life had been planned from the day she was born; that she would spend her childhood learning to be a proper princess, attend high school at Auradon Prep, and within a year of her eighteenth birthday she would be married to Chad Charming.  She had accepted it all.  Her lessons were boring but endurable, she had wonderful friends at Auradon Prep, and Chad was her best friend.  She knew better than to expect anything more out of life.
But when Ben brings a group of kids over from the Isle, Ada finds herself wondering if there isn’t a life for her beyond the borders of Auradon; a life where she can make her own path instead of following the one that was mapped out for her.  A path that leads her right to a certain pirate with an accent to die for, and to a discovery about herself that may change the future of the entire kingdom of Auradon.

Name: Anissa Radcliffe
Story: Ties That Bind
Parents: Anita & Roger Radcliffe
Face claim: Maia Mitchell
Love Interest: Ben; Aziz
Summary: Anissa Radcliffe had a plan.  Well, Anissa, Sloane, and Kyra had a plan to fix the horrific oversights surrounding the isle, but Anissa had smaller, more achievable plans.  Keep her siblings in line.  Maintain perfect grades and excel in her many extracurriculars.  Get Carlos De Vil off the isle come hell or high water.  Although his mother had lost her mind, Cruella De Vil had once been a dear friend and mentor to Anissa’s own mother, and in another world, she and Carlos may have grown up as family.  As Ben’s coronation approaches, several of her plans are falling into place, but no matter what, Anissa will not lose sight of the most important plan of all: protect Carlos De Vil.  From the isle.  From his mother.  From Auradon.  From himself.

Name: Avalon Le Fay
Story: King and Lionheart
AO3 | FFNet | Wattpad
Parents: Merlin & Morgana Le Fay
Face claim:  Emma Dumont
Love interest: Jay; eventual Jay & Harry
Summary: Nimue, daughter of Arthur and Gwen, and Avalon Le Fay, daughter or Merlin and Morgana, had always been thick as thieves, and had always been ready to declare war on Auradon.  Ever since the formation of the Isle, King Adam and the Fairy Godmother had been insisting that Morgana was still a villain, and therefore belonged on the Isle, and once Avalon was born, she agreed–so long as her daughter could stay in Camelot.  When Arthur was killed barely a year later, Merlin and Gwen partnered up to raise their daughters and run a kingdom, until the girls would be old enough to do so themselves.  Of course Auradon never trusted the one kingdom that refused to unite, and insisted that the girls be sent to Auradon prep, and so they went–reluctant as could be.  Everything was fine, mostly–the other princesses looked down on Nimue’s love of swordfighting, and Avalon was never seen as anything but a villain kid, but they still had each other.  They could tolerate it all, biding their time.  But at sixteen years of age, everything they’d ever planned gets thrown for a loop when it’s declared that four children from the Isle would be moving to Auradon.

Name: Beatrice
Story: Ever Just As Sure (As The Sun Will Rise)
Parents: The Beast & The Enchantress
Faceclaim: Taissa Farmiga
Summary: If King Adam had known the price of banishing magic from Auradon, he might have reconsidered.  But the former Beast was a stubborn man who refused to heed any warnings, and it had backfired.  He hadn’t known that banishing all magic would rip the last remains of the Enchantress’ curse from his veins, hadn’t known that the magic would redirect itself into the Enchantress, and he certainly hadn’t known that it would lead to the immediate birth of his firstborn child.  But it had.  And while he had no qualms about sending the Enchantress to the Isle, the queen had refused to send her stepdaughter, and so Princess Beatrice had been raised in Auradon alongside her younger brother.  She knew the truth about her birth, and she knew that her father hated her with every fibre of his being, but she didn’t care.  What she did care about was Ben’s decision to bring children from the Isle to Auradon - children that could have been her, had Belle not stepped in - and proving to her father, once and for all, that her generation is something more than just the children of heroes and villains, that they can be their own people and make their own choices.  And maybe the children of the four baddest villains are the perfect people to help her with that plan.

Name: Blossom
Story: Faith, Trust (And A Little Pixie Dust)
Parents: N/A
Faceclaim:  Bailee Madison
Love Interest: Ben
Summary: When a baby laughs for the first time, a new fairy is born.  When Prince Benjamin Florian laughed for the first time, Blossom was born.  From that day forth, the prince and his fairy were inseparable. The citizens of Auradon always said that their rulers had given them both a prince and a princess when Ben was born, and Blossom was beloved by the kingdom.  But when Ben brings four villain children to Auradon, Blossom is afraid.  Afraid for her kingdom, afraid for her safety, and afraid for her prince.  She is Ben’s fairy, she has to protect him at all costs; she has to do whatever it takes to make sure that Ben’s first action as king is a success, even if it means saving the VKs from themselves.  Even if it means breaking her own heart.

Name: Chessy Of Arendelle
Story: All Is Found
Parents: Redacted / Anna & Kristoff
Face claim: Mackenzie Foy
Love Interest: Ben
Summary: Chessy of Arendelle had never once doubted how loved she was.  She knew how much her parents loved her, the newborn infant they’d found miraculously still alive in the snow outside of their castle.  They’d chosen her, had brought her home and raised her as their own, the crown princess of Arendelle.  Her aunt loved her, her kingdom loved her, and her best friend, Crown Prince Ben of Auradon loved her.  That was enough for her.  That was more than enough for her.  But… the mystery.  Not knowing who she was, where she came from.  The answers that seemed to slip further out of reach every time she thought she’d come close to understanding.  Chessy didn’t need a family that hadn’t wanted her, she didn’t need to be anyone more than who she already was.  But she did need to know who she could have been.
Tumblr media
Name: Chiara Potts
Story: Certain As The Sun (Rising In The East)
Parents: Chip Potts & Redacted
Faceclaim:  Danielle Rose Russell
Love Interest: Ben & Evie
Summary: Chiara Potts is as far from a princess as you can get - well, unless you ask Cinderella.  She’s the daughter of a servant, and the granddaughter of a servant.  And she herself is a servant.  Granted, they don’t call her that, but Chiara is only the latest in the long line of Potts’ to serve the royal family.  Still, despite being his chief of staff and majordomo, Ben is her best friend.  And yes, maybe her job is the reason that they’re inseparable, but they still are.  So of course, Chiara is the first person to know about his plans to bring Villain Kids to Auradon.  She’s also the first person to defend his idea, and the person that he asks to help them settle in.  But when Chiara overhears their plans, she has to decide - will she try to change their minds and prove Ben right to all of Auradon, or will she have to go against him - and what will that cost her?
Tumblr media
Name: Chryseis
Story: We Could Be Immortals (Just Not For Long)
Parents: Poseison
Faceclaim:  Holland Roden
Summary: Poseidon isn’t a hero.  He’s a god, yes, but not a hero.  His granddaughter Ariel is a hero, his nephew Hercules is a hero, but Poseidon is not a hero.  So no one is really sure why his youngest daughter has just started at Auradon Prep, only days after Ben announced the impending arrival of four villain kids.  But Chryseis knows.  Mal, daughter of Maleficent, is also the daughter of Hades, and the Olympians are afraid.  And Chryseis, only sixteen and still learning to be a goddess, is the only person who can find out her intentions, the only person who can stop her from potentially destroying Olympus.
Tumblr media
Name: Cian Hearts
Story: Lavender Haze
Parents: Queen Of Hearts
Face claim: Gavin Leatherwood
Love Interest: Violet Kingsleigh
Summary: Cian Hearts didn’t hate Auradon.  No, to hate Auradon would suggest that he cared, and he didn’t.  He cared about surviving, about maintaining his mother’s territory and protecting his people, not about Auradon.  Nor, to his mother’s displeasure, about Wonderland.  Neither would help him live to see another day, so neither warranted a second thought on his part.  Or so he believed, until he received an invitation – a royal summons, if you asked him – to attend Auradon Prep along with four others from the isle.  With no real say in the matter, Cian packs up his life and crosses the barrier, determined to keep his head down – and attached to his neck – until Prince Ben gave up on his foolish plan.  Unfortunately, the king-to-be forgot to mention that they would be starting school with one more transfer student: Violet Kingsleigh, heir to Wonderland and daughter of his mother’s sworn nemesis.
Tumblr media
Name: Cosette Bellefleur
Series: Lust For Life
Story: Darling, Darling; Doll Face; Cherry
Parents: Claudette Bellefleur
Face claim: Lily Rose Depp
Love Interest: Gaston; Prince Ben; Prince Chad; Henry Turner
Summary: On the Isle Of The Lost, survival was a simple matter of strength and power. Cosette Bellefleur knew that she would never have the strength, so instead she focused on the power. Sharpening her own skillset, Cosette earned herself the protection of the strongest of the strong: Gaston. And while she may have had her flirtations and her flings, at the end of the day, Cosette belonged to Gaston, and his strength belonged to her. It was the perfect system.
But when Prince Ben, soon to be King Ben, makes his first royal proclamation, everything changes. In a fit of what he undoubtedly considered fairytale-level kindness, five children of villains would be brought to Auradon, and Cosette would be one of them. It made sense, of course, but that didn’t make it any less unpleasant for her. Ripped away from her friends and lovers, from her home, and from her protector, Cosette would have no one to rely on but Mal’s crew, and there was certainly no lost love there.
But when her unwilling allies need a way to get close to the prince, Cosette may just find a way to ensure their loyalty and secure herself a new protector all in one fell swoop.

Name: Elise Charming
Story: Enchanted
Parents: Prince Charming & Cinderella
Face claim:  Sabrina Carpenter
Love interest: Evie; Ben & Evie
Summary: Princess Elizabeth Victoria Isabelle Katherine Grace Regina Alexandria James – more affectionately known as Elise Charming – had been raised on one simple lesson.  Have courage and be kind.  And for sixteen years, she had lived by those words.  Alongside her twin brother Chad and their best friends Ben and Audrey, Elise had been picture perfect royalty. The four of them were perfectly sweet, perfectly charming, perfectly… well, perfectly perfect.  But when Ben, weeks away from his coronation, decides to bring over four Villain Kids from the Isle of the Lost, their perfect group falls apart.  Elise is sure that they can get through it, that they can hold their heads high and rebuild their perfect friendship, and that everything will be okay.  And then the Villain Kids arrive in Auradon, and the most beautiful girl in the world steps out of the limousine.
Tumblr media
Name: Evander Grimhilde
Story: Untitled
Parents: Evil Queen & King Richard
Face claim:  Taylor Zakhar Perez
Love interest: Topher Charming
Summary: Evander Grimhilde was highly aware of the fact that his life was not normal, even for the isle of the lost.  Mostly, he knew, it was because he was the first child born on the Isle.  The blueprint, the model, the test subject.  He was born before the villains had the idea to use their children as soldiers to defend their turf, before they decided that survival and gaining power was more important than planning for getting off the Isle.  No, where his kids — and they were; every child on the Isle was his.  His to protect, his to raise, his to love the way their parents never were — were raised to be their parents’ henchmen, Evander was raised to be king.  He learned history and finances, potions alongside politics, everything there was to know about the United Kingdom of Auradon and every kingdom within it.  Evander was as qualified to be a king as anyone could hope to be, except for one teensy tiny little detail: he still lived on the Isle.
At least until Prince Ben turned 16 and made his very first proclamation as king — to bring five children from the Isle to Auradon.  His sister, her crew, and Evander himself.  With his kingdom finally within reach, Evander’s destiny is finally within his reach.  The only problem is that Evander isn’t actually sure if he wants his destiny; especially once he meets Topher Charming.
Tumblr media
Name: Finley Rider
Story: Stolen Heart
Parents: Rapunzel and Flynn Rider
Face claim: Virginia Gardner
Love interest: past Ben; Jay; eventual Ben & Jay
Summary: Finley Rider – Princess Finley Fitzherbert – was all set to live a fairytale life.  She was the heir to the throne of Corona, her parents’ pride and joy, and betrothed to her best friend, Prince Benjamin.  But when a ten year old Finley gets bored at a museum gala and decides to see how many artifacts she can lift without getting noticed, everything changes. When the Beast King catches her stealing Jafar’s staff, he loses his temper.  The child is sent to the Isle, Corona breaks ties with Auradon, and Ben loses his best friend.
On her first day on the Isle, Finley gets caught stealing a bracelet off of Lady Tremaine.  But rather than tell the woman, the boy introduces himself as Jay, son of Jafar, and offers Finley a partnership.  Their alliance soon grows into a friendship, and Jay introduces Finley to the other VKs, bringing her into their team.  The five of them rule the island with ease, causing trouble wherever they go.  It isn’t perfect, but Finley has learned to move on from Corona, and from Auradon.  So of course, that’s when Prince Ben makes his first royal proclamation; bringing children of the Isle to Auradon.  The daughter of Maleficent, the son of Jafar, the daughter of the Evil Queen, and the son of Cruella De Vil.  And the princess of Corona.
Tumblr media
Name: Fraser Fitzherbret / Fitz Rider
Story: Stolen Heart
Parents: Rapunzel and Flynn Rider
Face claim: Matt Cornett
Love interest: Harry Hook; TBD
Tumblr media
Name: Gloria Gothel
Story: Mother Knows Best
Parents: Mother Gothel
Face claim: Melissa Barrera
Summary: Gloria Gothel didn’t care about politics.  Not on the isle, not in Auradon.  She didn’t care about running the biggest turf, about having the strongest crew, she only cared about survival.  She had gotten it wrong once, had made the rookie mistake of getting attached to other people, of caring about something beyond covering her own ass, but it was a mistake that she would never make again.  But when an invitation comes for her to go to Auradon along with Maleficent’s daughter and her crew, Gloria finds herself at a crossroads.  Once again she has a choice to make, between looking out for her own self interest or taking care of the family she’d never meant to find.

Name: Halle Finn
Story: Untitled
Parents: Huckleberry Finn
Face claim: Kathryn Newton
Tumblr media
Name: Hannah Westergaard
Story: Don’t Blame Me
Parents: Hans Westergaard
Face claim: Kat McNamara
Summary: As far as children of the Isle went, Hannah Westergaard was pretty standard.  Abusive father, no known mother, and no special talents of abilities whatsoever.  As much as she hates to admit it, she’s boring by the Isle’s standards, so why on earth is Prince Ben inviting her to Auradon?  And more importantly, why does it seem like maybe she isn’t quite as boring as she’s been lead to believe?
Tumblr media
Name: Harley Hook
Story: Lost Girl
Parents: Captain Hook
Face claim:  India Eisley
Love interest: Jay; possible endgame Jay & Gil
Summary: Harley Hook was a pirate, through and through.  Always at her brother’s side, always with Uma and the crew, always near her beloved Gil, Harley Hook was a pirate.  And as a pirate, she absolutely hated Mal’s gang.  They thought that they were so much better than anyone, just because of Mal’s mom - big whoop, it’s not like Maleficent could even use magic on the Isle.  So yeah, Harley hated the VKs, her loyalty was to the crew, and she was never seen away from Harry or Gil.  And then the princeling decides to bring children of some of the worst villains to Auradon: Mal, Evie, Jay, Carlos.  And Harley.  Harley couldn’t be more furious at being taken away from her crew, or at being sent to Auradon, or at being forced to work with the VKs to get Fairy Godmother’s wand.  But she knows that if she wants to get back to the Isle, back to her family, she needs that barrier down as much as they do.  She’s just not sure that they can cooperate long enough for that.
Tumblr media
Name: Harmony Of Atlantica
Story: Carved Out Of The Sea
Parents: Ariel & Prince Eric
Face claim:  Kaya Scodelario
Love interest: Harry Hook
Summary: Princess Harmony was a youngest child’s youngest child, she knew that she would never be anything special.  Her mom was Ariel, and her sister Melody had united their parents’ kingdoms.  Harmony was nothing in comparison.  So Harmony went on her own adventures, swimming as far as she could and discovering the wonders of the world outside of Atlantis.  She’d heard of the Isle of the Lost of course, everyone had, but she never planned on finding it.  She never planned on swimming through the barrier, or on finding out that she would no longer be able to turn into a mermaid when she did, or on never being able to swim back across.  And so, Harmony grew up on the Isle along with the children of the villains.  She befriended pirates and princesses and everything in between, and she almost forgot about life in Atlantis.  And then the future king summons four of the children of the Isle to Auradon, and Harmony knows that she has to seize her only chance at returning to her home, even if it means leaving behind her partner - in crime and in love - Harry Hook.
Tumblr media
Name: Hayden
Story: Dying Is An Art
Parents: Hades & Maleficent
Face claim: Jenny Boyd
Summary: Hayden was raised by Hades, knowing full well who her mother - and sister - was.  But Mal doesn’t know about her.  So for most of her life, Hayden hid.  She hid away in her dad’s cave and had very few friends.  And then Prince Ben summons five Villain Kids to Auradon - the son of Jafar, the son of Cruella De Vil, the daughter of the Evil Queen, the daughter of Maleficent, and the daughter of Hades.  But only Hayden knows the truth.  And now she has to keep her secret, and try to stop her sister and her friends from stealing the wand, but she might have to choose between her two missions.
Tumblr media
Name: Helena
Story: Long Live the Queen
Parents: Hades & Persephone
Face claim:  Teagan Croft
Love interest: Queenie Hearts
Summary:  Living on the Isle wasn’t easy, but there was something particularly difficult about it for a goddess.  Her dad couldn’t be kept on the Isle–they’d tried, no one died anymore, he was allowed to return to the Underworld. But when Helena was born, she was cast away to join the rest of the Villains and their children, forced to fend for herself.  Being a goddess had its advantages too, she was able to survive and rise up with no problem.  Soon she was the right hand to the newest queen, and hell would freeze before she let anyone take that away from them.

Face claim: Rachel Zegler
Tumblr media
Name: Honey La Bouff
Story: Impossible Dreams
AO3 | Wattpad
Parents: Lottie LaBouff
Face claim: Meg Donnelly
Love interest: Ben & Chad
Summary: As if being raised by a single mother, with a father who passed away before she was born, didn’t make her enough of an oddity, Honey La Bouff was one of the only students at Auradon Prep who wasn’t the child of a prince, princess, or hero.  But despite being looked down on by most of the student body, Honey was best friends with the two most popular boys in school; Prince Ben and Chad Charming.  Honey and Chad had always seen it as their responsibility to look out for their more naïve best friend, and when Ben decides to bring five Villain Kids to Auradon – a decision that both Honey and Chad had been pushing for since they were still in their single digits – they know they’ll have their work cut out for them.  But, all things considered, the VKs seem to be adapting well, and Honey is excited to have them in Auradon.  Or she was, until she takes an extremely suspicious cookie away from Ben and finds herself the victim of a long since forbidden magical roofie.
Tumblr media
Name: Princess Isabelle
Story: Tale As Old As Time
Parents: Belle & The Beast
Face claim:  Danielle Campbell

Summary:  By all rights, Princess Isabelle should be next in line for the throne of Auradon.  She was the firstborn child of the king, after all, and much more politically minded than her twin brother.  But her father, beast that he was, had no intention of ever letting her take her rightful place as queen.  But Belle is her mother’s daughter, and has no intentions of giving up, she just needs a new plan.  And then Ben decides to bring children of the Isle to Auradon, and Isabelle finds herself in the perfect position to get exactly what she’s always wanted.  If only she can go through with it.

microfiction, October 30 - November 5
The General was not impressed by her little rebellion. “You’re mine, Lorelei—I’ll see you dead before I let you leave.” “The last man who tried to own me said the same—he was a king, and nigh-immortal, and he still died cursing my name. You have no power over me.”
-
Lady Black emerges from the hollow tree; her dress the color of dirt, her hands stained red. She has come to read the stars, on behalf of some fae King, underground, sleeping. She speaks with her hands and her eyes. She rarely brings good news.
-
The jack-o’lantern grins and grimaces, flickering and flinching, come alive with Nate’s soul. “Don’t you miss me, Sadie?” it asks, in his familiar smoker’s rasp. “I guess not. After all, you’re the one who buried me in the pumpkin patch.”
-
Her Halloween ghost knocks, and she wishes she could stay in bed. The first person she touches today will drop dead and haunt her for the next year. “Trick or treat,” repeats in the corner—the last words of last year’s victim. She hates when it’s a kid.
-
The demon’s touch was possessive; his eyes full of greed. “I could give you everything you want. The moon, the stars, and all the planets besides.” “And all it will cost is my soul, right?” I’d heard this tale before. “Oh, so much more than just your soul.”
-
It was a small kindness, but she knew he was not kind. She had once watched the King feed a deer from his hand, only to snap its neck a moment later. He was a clawed hand inside a velvet glove; he was a shark in calm waters, always smelling blood.
-
He traced her lips, his thumb resting on top of the Cupid’s Bow curve. “Did you know this line is called the philtrum? Such an unlovely name for where an angel touched you.” “What should we call it when a demon touches there?” Her fingers graze the base of his horns.
-
You dislike the painting in your room, a portrait of an old woman—only she seems to be getting younger. Her eyes are shut in the daytime, open at night. Sometimes she holds a knife. You wake with fresh cuts on your arms. You sleep with matches under your pillow.
-
A young woman puts on her wedding dress, twirling like a princess. Motes of poisoned dust release from the lace, mixing with light and laughter. The wedding song shifts into a funeral knell. The maid of honor, a dressmaker, comforts the grieving groom.
-
A true magician never reveals his secrets—but a foolish one might underestimate his assistant. Find himself helpless in his own top hat, reduced to white fur and quivering nose. Held up by long ears to rousing applause. Never seen again—what a legend, what a legacy.
-
The gramophone was haunted, of course—she expected nothing less from an antique that Kyle brought home. But the strangest part was when he tried playing a record. Instead of Dizzy Gillespie’s trumpet, their grandmother’s voice starting speaking to them—warning them.
-
A pregnant girl appeared at the gate, begging for asylum. She was branded with the Duke’s mark, which made Pat nervous, but he didn’t argue with me. The Riders came for her two days later. Billy shot four dead before they scattered. Now we wait for a war.
-
The record spins, a gruesome ode dragged from the grooves. It echos around the house until everyone drops dead, hearts stopped. The man in black smiles, as the music reaches what festers within the walls. The house will be well fed tonight.
-
Everyone made fun of Tara’s brother for his constant flirtation with the moon; he even invited the heavenly body to prom. A person of ambiguous gender showed up at the dance, with glowing skin, silver hair—and eyes only for Sammy, holding out impossible silver roses.
-
The characters startled when their writer appeared, anachronistically dressed and waving a battered novel. “No, no, no! It’s right here, on page 394—the origin of the beast is occult in nature, not extraterrestrial—this is a fantasy, not science fiction!”
-
The fox capers for the children (sometimes stealing one away). It pilfers pies from windowsills, laughs with the crows. A local burned the fox’s tail to drive it off; that man dropped dead at the crossroads a fortnight later, face frozen in terror—red fur on his coat.

Will  you ever notice me? Arthur Morgan x Original Female Character
Summary:  During they wandering in deep snowstorm, man from  van  der Linde gang found odd looking girl and Dutch decides to take her  to  camp to see if she can be any use, leading life of outlaw with  them.  Quickly, new girl develops feelings towards Arthur, but he sees  her just  as a kid...and she won't take that! It's an original character  story  that starts in the place where Arthur, Dutch and Micah were  supposed to  first meet with Sadie. Instead she's already with them.
Authors notes: It’s another chapter and you  can find the rest of chapter on my blog if you want to read more of my  fanfiction. I decided to post all parts I have at once so the fic could  catch more attention. Words count: 1984 Chapter 5 It was two months now since she left. Arthur was sitting on his bed, looking directly at his shoes, thinking. I ain't no match for you, that's sure - hisown  words were echoing in his head. Maybe he was a match for her after all. She had to be in love with him if she left after he said it won't be like she thought and he couldn't do anything to ask her again. Maybe...it would be different this time and he shouldn't say all those things? He wasn't bad man. He was the worst. But she loved him for some reason. Maybe he should speak with her back then, telling about Eliza and Isaac, to prove he is no one to love, especially for a young girl. No way she would stay by his side after discovering it. And if she did... Today was the day Dutch decided we gonna talk with Colm. Arthur didn't like the idea and didn't believe anyone should trust this man. But it was Dutch's plan and all he was doing for last 20 years was making Dutch's plan work out. So they met with Colm and shit went down.He was hanging upside down in some kind of basement, he just got shot and all he had right now was his union suit, sticking to blood running from his wound. He looked around to notice a movement in basement corner. Then he heard metalic sound - handcuffs. - Hey - she said and he recognised her voice right away, but it seemed she didn't see him - I guess it's two of us now, buddy. All he could do was to cough and to try find her and try to look at her like she was his only reason to be sane. - They caught you too, didn't they? I don't know what they do with man here. I probably don't have to tell you what they do to women. - Iris - he grunted. - Mr Morgan! - she gasped. But she didn't seem surprised to see him. He saw her crawling towards him, her wrists were covered in blood and she was wearing only a nighgown. That pretty nightgown that Mary-Beth liked. - How you got caught? You never do. O my god! - she covered her face with hands when she noticed how badly injured he was. He couldn't speak. And for some reason all he wanted to say now was ''I think I love you too'' so it wouldn't help. - You have some luck, Mister - she continued - I can reach this lockpick from the table and pass it to you. You gonna be free. I can't lockpick...that's why it's useless to me. And she did. Arthur were fidgeting with it for few seconds and then he was free. Badly injured and almost dead but free. O'Driscolls were stupid enough to leave his guns there. - What about you? Where is the key? - was all he said. - I-I don't know Mr Morgan - she murmured, looking at him with faint small and her lashes were covering her eyes in a shadow - I don't think it's there. They already know me, I tried to run away few times and they wouldn't risk it. - Doesn't matter - he said briefly and started lockpicking her handcuffs - I'm gonna get you out of here. -Look at you...real gentelman, helping me even though I'm just a kid and you are dying, Mr Morgan - he lifted his gaze to look at her. She wasn't sane right know, she looked drugged. - I ain't liking what you are saying, Missy, you mock me? - Oh I could say you a lot of things you would like, Arthur Morgan, but I don't think you would listen to them - she looked into his eyes and now it was clear, she had this wild fever which made her almost insane. - How long they kept you there? - he asked as he lockpicked her handcuffs, throwing them away. He almost forgotten how he was feeling right know, all he was thinking about was her. - I don't know Mr Morgan, but it seemed so long...especially when they touched me.  Oh, they did. Colm was saying weird things to me and I'd like to forget them...- she murmured into his ear - they would be nice only if you were telling them. He started boiling from anger. He decided to kill every man around here and then get back, get her away from here, bring her back to the camp. And he did. He killed those bastards and he was carrying her in her arms towards his horse. - Wait, I think it's horse I stole from Dutch out here - she murmured sleepily, looking above his arm - We can get it, too. Was he mad though? - No one was mad about what ya did. Just sad. And you said you will return the horse, for some reason he believed in this. She nodded her head and cuddled to his back as they were galloping on his horse. The task of rescuing her wasn't done and now what kept Arthur sane was his will to save Iris. As their horse entered the camp they both has fallen on the grass. - O my fuckin' God! - was all Mr Grimshaw said. Home sweet home. It had to be days since she fainted. She had this feverish dream of being rescued by Arthur and he brought her back to camp and... - Mornin' - he said nonchalantly, peeking at her from his side of tent. It was like back then, just different place as gang was occupying another location. She opened her eyes and she touched her temple. She felt that she has some wet cloth on her forehead and she wasn't where she thought she will be. - I am dead, right? - Iris asked, trying to look in voice's direction, but the light was to strong for her - No way I made out of there with fever and slitted wrists. I have to be dead. And you are here, Mr Morgan, that means I'm not only dead but that someone had to burry my sorry ass already. - Ya're not dead, thanks to me - he cleared his throat. She could hear he's smoking a cigarette. - It's always like that, in books - she said - protagonists know he's dead and some kind of ghost or angel tell them they are not. But it's not a book. - If it was book I would find you without being kidnapped first, eh? - That depends - she said - It works like that only with princess and their prince charming. I have no prince charming. But if I had they would find me like you said, ofcourse. - I ain't prince but I helped you. You were almost dead, girl, with pneumonia and wild fever making you babble. She opened her eyes again. Light was unbearable but she turned her face towards him. It was really him, those eyes, this body, this deep voice, visibly patched up and dragging from a cigarette.   - How long...I was out? - she pulled herself up, leaning on one of her elbows. Her lips were dry and when he offered her a glass of water she downed it right away. - Not that long to think in what state you were back then. I think it's a week now. - A week? I don't remember even teeny tiny thing about last 3 weeks so that's not bad - she murmured. When she looked at him the feelings she had for him seemed to hit her on the back of her head, flooding her heart with dirty, cold water of being turned down on that feral night. - I wasn't exactly perfect either, It's first day I tried to walk aroun', piss off Dutch and Micah. - You smell like days without leaving your bed, Mr Morgan - she replied and her voice was surprisingly cold, she was giggling though - but don't worry, that means I smell even worse. He couldn't start a conversation with her.  He was deeply in his thoughts, thinking about things she said to him when he rescued her. - Did someone hurt ya? - he finally said it and it was wildly harsh on her ears. Because they did. They undressed her, touched her and only God himself knew why no one raped her right away. Maybe to play with her longer? It was disgusting and it lasted for days. She was disgusting too now. - You shouldn't worry about it, Mr Morgan. You saved me, I'm safe thanks to you. Thank's to being lucky but mostly to you. - I wanna know if they did - he got up and sat next to her. She jerked away. - It's none of your business... - I rescued you and brought you back, now you are my business, 'kay? - It does not work like that - she whispered - I'm just thankfull, really. You should've been leave me behind. - Wh-what? - he stuttered - Why would I do such thing, kid? - I ain't no kid, especially now - she looked directly into his eyes, throwing daggers and shaking - They let me know I am no kid. Maybe if I were...Maybe if I were they would simply slaughter me without humiliating me like that. But I wasn't. I never heard someone call me those names before - for a little moment he thought she's gonna cry and he's gonna cuddle her and tell her he is sorry and that now he knows that he loves her too, but she didn't, she went on and her voice sounded like it was soaked in venom - I don't know what they planned but someone from them visited me every day. It was usually Colm, I think. Oh, he was the worst of them, he was the one to undress me first.   - Stop, kid, you don't have to say all of it, I get it - he reached for her cheek but she turned away and rised her head high, like she was too proud for his touch. - I ain't kid now, Mr Morgan - she whispered again - Now I'm just a woman who has no value. At this words she got up from her bed and looked around. Her things were there, so the horse she stole from Dutch probably were here too. Arthur was taken back by her. He wasn't only late to love her properly but he was late rescuing her from O'Driscolls. If he knew she was kidnapped, he would come ealier but now he just couldn't find words. A woman with no value. - Dutch! - she called out for him thru the window, waving at him. He looked at her and waved back, smiling faintly - Sorry I returned your horse this way, Dutch! - He seems to be sulking, ya know - Arthur stand next to her and scratched his chin - Since you left he says there is no woman he could trust. - Like I was close to him or anything. It was just a stupid crush, he should know better himself by now. - I think it is one of those hopeless cases, ya know? Unreasonable one. - Then we have something in common. Falling in love stupid way. But to think that now... I will say sorry and maybe even consider setteling for him, Mr Morgan. - Why don't you call me Arthur, darlin'? Like you did few times? She looked at him surprised and then burst into laugh, the most honest one as she patted his arm 'causing a little bit of pain in wound where he was shot. - Because that's what you are to me, aren't you? And to you I'm just a kid, Mr Morgan.   Iris left him shoked and trembling when he realised that maybe he has no words to fix things between them.

The name Sadie means princess and now I'm imagining Alessi calling her princess when she's upset as a means to calm her down ;;;;
I?? DID NOT KNOW THAT?? AND NOW I SUBSCRIBE TO THIS THIS IS CANON NOW HOLD ON
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Alessi knocked on his now teen daughter's door, hearing her sniffles behind it. "Sadie, dear? You alright?"
"Fuck off, old man! I don't need you, I never needed you!" Sadie shouted from the other side of the door, sitting on her bed, not sure why she was so upset. Was she overwhelmed by the fact that she can't control of her stand as well as her other stand user friends? Was she mad that her dad kept something so horrifying from her for years? Was she sad that... she didn't really have anyone else besides Yoko, Jolyne, and her Dad? She yelled, slamming one of her hatchets into her floor, splitting it clean open.
"Sadie, you know, if you need to talk about anything, I'm here. ...I know I'm not a perfect dad, but... I'm trying my best, doing it all alone." Alessi admitted. "I, uh... whenever you're ready to talk about it, I made dinner. Your favorite, Fattah. I love you, princess. Again, whenever you're ready."
Princess. It rang in her ears. Sadie knew that nickname anywhere. Her tears slowed, but didn't stop. She couldn't just stop, but... hearing that... oh, it just rang to her. Alessi called her princess constantly, especially when she was a little girl. I guess it's like an Alessi to have some weird obsession with childhood, even if it means in your past, you were a nasty man who beat kids for the hell of it. The name had some weird effect on Sadie though, no matter what, if her dad said it, it would slow her racing heart, slow her tears, slow her shaky breath, and let her think rationally. Why was she upset...?
"Hey, old man," She sniffled, walking into the kitchen, "I, uh... I wanted to talk to you... about the summer of 1999. Why didn't you just... tell me about what was going on?"
"Wh... why didn't I tell you...? Princess, you were seven. I don't think a seven-year-old should be worrying about some murderer who's into... hands." Alessi explained, making Sadie a massive plate of Fattah. "What made you think of that, dear?"
"I dunno, it just... fuck..." Sadie angrily muttered, not knowing what to say. "I mean, like... why didn't you tell me you planned on helping...?"
Alessi cringed. Hoo boy, right, he did leave her behind the day the gang took out Kira... "I didn't tell you... because, I'll be honest. That man knew me. He was pretty close with your pop's old boss, by proxy. I knew if I didn't do anything then, he would've come searching if somehow, Mr. Kujo couldn't beat him."
"Bastard... so you could've just fuckin'... died?! And left me alone here?!"
"If anything like that were to have happened, you have a godmother. You would've went to her, princess. I know you aren't the biggest fan of your pa, especially nowadays-"
"You dumbass! If you would've died, I don't know what I'd do! You do a lot, old man, and I can't lose that!" Sadie finally admitted.
"...oh. I, uh... I understand why you're upset, then. Tell you what, princess, how about we do something soon, I'll get you a day off school, and we can just... wander the safe streets of Morioh. We can go to Tonio's and celebrate life. How's that sound?"
Sadie's breathing slowed again, tears welling in her eyes once more. "I... tsk, whatever, old man, just know that the teachers won't be happy I'm cutting class again."
"It doesn't matter what they think. As long as my princess gets what she wants."
"You're a fuckin' sap."
"Says the one who's crying behind her glasses."
"Oh, fuck off, nevermind, I don't wanna go anymore."
- “hey, finn, you’re gonna be an uncle!”
- “wow joe, you’re living up to your mom character”
- and oH, he couldn’t keep the secret from social media!
- you and him said to wait to know the gender
- and it was killing joe on the inside!!!!!!!
- he wanted to know if he was gonna have a prince or princess
- “i sound so lame, calling him a prince if he’s a boy”
- “i find it adorable”
- and when it was a week until your due date
- joe got nervous
- like, more nervous than he ever has been
- “you okay, babe?”
- “what if i’m not a good dad?”
- “what?”
- “yeah, what if i’m terrible? what if i don’t know how to change him or her? what if i can’t stop them from crying? what if-”
- you took his hands in yours and looked at him
- “you’re going to be an excellent dad. you want to know how i know? is because of how well you treat your nephews and nieces. how calm you are around my sister’s baby. remember when you held her? how you took her into the other room and she stopped crying? you’re going to be the best fucking dad ever, joseph david”
- “i love you so much, y/n y/l/n”
- “i love you so much more, baby”
- and when you water broke
- joe was SHAKING
- he was texting everyone you were in labor
- they hooked you up to the machines and you and joe waited
- and then news came
- “your baby is breach, and the only way we can save them is a cesarean section”
- you and joe both tensed
- “we’ll take you in in a couple minutes. sir, here are your scrubs to wear to come in with her”
- the nurse left and you were terrified
-”joe..”
- “i’ll be right next to you, baby”
- joe changed and you laughed
- “hey! no laughing at me!”
- “you look silly”
- “even more than usual?”
- “even more”
- you held his hand tightly until they took you in and he followed
- joe would not leave your side. he didn’t want to look at the surgery happening
- his fingers stroked your cheek lightly as you were in your groggy state
- joe’s eyes never left your face, until he heard little cries
- “it’s a boy!”
- “y/n it’s a boy” he chuckled with tears in his eyes
- “mm” you hum
- your heart rate started to slow down
- “she’s losing a lot of blood!”
- “wait, can i see my ba- y/n!”
- they pushed joe out of the room and he slid off his scrubs
- he sat on the chairs outside of the room
- “joe?”
- the crying man looked up and saw his friends
- “what happened?”
- “she-she had a c-section and lost a lot of blood”
- the group of teenagers (finn, millie, gaten, caleb, noah, sadie) and the adults (natalia, charlie, david, dacre) hugged him as he sobbed
- “i’m scared”
- all 11 of them sat outside of the room, some on the floor and some on the chairs
- “mr. keery?”
- joe stood straight up
- “quite a crowd”
- “they’re.. my family. h-how is she? how’s my baby?”
- “follow me, mr. keery”
- millie and sadie gave him quick pecks on the cheeks and the boys gave him a soft pat
- “thanks guys”
- he followed the doctor into the room and you laid on the bed with the tiny baby boy in your arms
- “baby” he breathed and went over, kissing you sweetly
- he sat on the bed and looked at his baby boy
- “he’s so tiny”
- “here, hold him”
- joe took the tiny boy in his arms and laughed, tears running down his face
- “hi baby. hi baby boy, i’m your daddy”
- the baby looked up at joe
- “he recognizes your voice”
- “we need to decide a name for him”
- joe rocked the boy carefully
- “how about david? you know, like your middle name. and his full name could be david blake keery”
- “i love it,” joe looked up at you “and i love you”
- “may we come in?”
- you gasped happily
- “yes, please!”
- “be careful kids, she’s still-”
- “you’re okay!”
- joe got off the bed and watched as the teens hugged his wife
- “-sore”
- “i don’t mind, i love these kids”
- “they couldn’t stop talking about you and how you were out there”
- tears formed in your eyes
- natalia gave you a nice hug
- as did charlie
- and david (harbour) gave you a hug and a kiss on the head
- they all took turns passing david (the baby) around
- you and joe held each other closely
- and joe was so fucking happy the two loves of his life were okay and well.
Chorus Chapter Four
Note: This has been a busy week but I'm more or less back on track, thank goodness. I'm hoping to set up a blog soon to archive all of my writing in one place, along with any fanart I've received and anything else I've done over the last few years. When I started writing fanfics back in prehistoric times everyone had archives, webrings and mailing lists and I'm an old fashioned girl at heart sometimes. I'll link it once it's finished.
Double note: If you haven't already, I suggest you read A String of Pearls before continuing. Most of the OC characters I've written about there will be popping up here as well (and it includes the origins of Murder Pearl.)
…..
New to the list of things Steven had to be very worried about (along with Pearl's disappearance, the awful nightmares that were probably foreshadowing of something unpleasant and his dwindling supply of food) was that the unfortunately-named Murder Pearl would live up to that name at some point by turning on him.
As it was, she had found some sort of pole somewhere in the workshop and was methodically sharpening the end with blankly serene expression on her face. It was unbelievably creepy, and yet Ginger, who was sitting directly in the line of the sharpened pole should Murder Pearl decide to skewer someone with it, was calmly ignoring them both to fiddle with a holographic screen of data.
Complicating matters further was the third pearl in the workshop, the one Steven had healed with his magical spit. She was hiding under a table covered with a tarp, (and had been since she regained consciousness) the edges of her feet were the only part of her visible. He had been told in no uncertain terms by both Orthoclase and Ginger to leave her alone until her Jasper returned. He could hear her sniffling under there, and that was awkward on top of all the other awkwardness.
Distantly, Steven wondered if Garnet and Amethyst were worried. He had been gone for, he estimated, three days. They had left him alone during missions for longer periods of time, they had always been quite lackadaisical in this manner. He knew Greg would be worried by now, and probably Connie too. Sadie as well, and maybe the cool kids.
Maybe I should go back for a little while. Get more food, let everyone know I'm okay, tell them we have a plan...
Even as he thought about it he knew he couldn't. He was neck-deep in Homeworld's criminal underground, and if television had taught him one thing it was that criminals tended to disappear without a trace. If he left he probably wouldn't be able to find them again.
As he stewed, his stomach made its feelings known. Loudly.
Ginger swiveled in her chair.
“Are you unwell?” she asked, again with more curiosity than concern.
“Hah, no...I'm just kind of hungry...” he laughed nervously. Murder Pearl was also looking at him.
“Hungry?” Ginger asked, tilting her head and blinking owlishly.
“Yeah, uh...where I come from, we put things in our mouths....”
...he didn't miss both of the pearls flinching ever so slightly....
“...to give us energy and make us feel...happy, I guess. I brought food but I'm running kind of low now,” he finished.
Ginger hummed thoughtfully, and Murder Pearl laid down her murder stick for a moment.
“The higher caste gems ingest gallium and compound mix for recreational purposes,” Murder Pearl said. “I don't think it gives them energy...”
“No, it doesn't,” Ginger agreed. “But those are chemical...it sounds like the Steven requires...organic matter?”
“Just Steven is fine,” Steven piped in.
“I will think on this,” Ginger told him. “We cannot have you unwell at this stage in the plan.”
“Wow, okay, thanks!” Steven blurted out gratefully. It probably wouldn't be anything like a donut or a cheeseburger but at least it would be something...
Orthoclase burst into the workshop then in her usual loud fashion. At some point she had donned some sort of chain-link head decoration and painted triangles under her eyes, and the little kid in Steven for a moment reflected on how effortlessly cool she was. She was carrying what looked like a burlap sack and tossed out the contents on the operating table.
“Jasper came through for us,” she said with a careless but triumphant shrug. “Six pearls, all deregistered.”
Steven peered over at them, until Orthoclase beckoned him closer so he could examine them closely. One was cracked badly, one was covered in scratches but apart from that they were all in good shape. One was significantly smaller than the others.
“That's a seed pearl,” Orthoclase explained as Steven gingerly touched the miniature one.
“Seed pearl?”
“Yeah, it was the fashion for a while to make them smaller,” she continued. “Lasted about four orbits before they were discontinued. I thought they'd all been processed but I guess not.”
Homeworld really was a terribly strange place. Gems talked about making other gems in miniature, like some sort of weird hobby.
“Those two are damaged,” Steven said, changing the subject. “Can I heal them?”
“Go ahead,” Orthoclase said with a sweeping gesture. “Less work for me if you do.”
Licking his palm, he fixed the cracked pearl and then the scratched one. For good measure, he fixed the others too, just in case they had damage he couldn't see.
“Remind me to get you filling some tubes for me before you go back to Planet Whatsit,” Orthoclase said, sinking onto the couch and throwing one foot into Ginger's lap.
…..
A few hours and one fitful nap on the couch later, the pearls regenerated.
Steven ended up naming them (in his head) after the Disney Princesses because that was all he could think of. One of them (he thought it was the one that had been scratched to pieces) had a long elaborate braid that reached her ankles so once he had dubbed her Rapunzel the rest of them naturally followed.
The one that looked like she had actual gold threads running through her hair: Aurora.
The pale blue one in tattered indigo and the remains of a fancy hairstyle: Cinderella, obviously.
The silver one with the long white hair: Elsa. She was the one who had been badly cracked.
The pale green one with the red hair....he kept switching between Anna and Ariel. It was hard to know until she opened her mouth.
And the seed pearl, who stood no taller than Steven's waist....Thumbelina. (He knew it wasn't Disney but it might as well have been.)
“I assume you all know the plan,” Orthoclase announced, confusing Steven because not one pearl had said a word to anyone.
Still, they all nodded in perfect unison. Even Murder Pearl.
“Great. If you have any questions, ask Pearl. In fact, I have a question right now. What in Core's name are we supposed to do now?”
She punctuated her question by poking Ginger's shoulder with the tip of her foot.
“I have located a loom to centre our structure on,” Ginger replied, barely responding to Orthoclase's needling. “It is isolated, and large enough to shelter over fifty pearls.”
“Sounds great,” Orthoclase drawled. “What's wrong with it?”
“The owner will take some convincing...”
“I knew it...”
“But I believe we have something she wants.”
“Hm,” Orthoclase mused. “Okay, we can work with that. Get her on the line...”
“She won't respond. We have to go there ourselves. And she may not let us in.”
Orthoclase sighed, flopped across the couch. All the pearls kept their silence, but Steven noticed their hands and fingers moving gently. Maybe they were nervous. Steven certainly was.
“Well, we might as well try,” she said at last. “We'll go next cycle, suns are going down.”
With that, she was gone. There were crashing sounds in the back of the workshop where she was clearly setting up to work for the rest of the night. That left Steven alone with the pearls.
“So,” he began, addressing the one he dubbed Elsa. “I'm glad to see I was able to fix that crack in your gem...are you feeling better?”
“Yes, quite,” she said faintly. “Thank you.”
“What happened? Is it okay for me to ask, I don't mean to be rude...”
“That's okay,” she said in that same oddly serene way they all seemed to have of talking. “I was owned by several Jaspers, they did not treat me gently.”
That sick squirmy feeling was getting to be something Steven was used to. There were implications rife in that little sentence but he couldn't dwell on it, for the sake of his own sanity.
I need to find Pearl and get the hell out of here.
“I'm sorry,” he mumbled lamely.
“Not your doing,” Elsa replied in a way that was almost sweet.
“Did you fix my scratches too?” Rapunzel asked, so quietly he could barely hear her.
“Yes, I did,” Steven replied. “Is that okay with you?”
“Quite,” she said. “But my owner may be confused when I am returned. If I am returned.”
If. Why if?
“Why's that?” Steven asked, knowing he was going to regret it but unable to stop himself.
“She made most of the scratches.”
Steven looked away, struggling to find words. It was only then that he noticed that Thumbelina had at some point climbed down from her spot on the operating table and was kneeling at the gap between the floor and the tarp that covered the Jasper's pearl. She was silent but her fingers were moving. The sniffling that had been a constant since the pearl woke up had stopped.
…..
When Homeworld's suns rose again, they set out for...wherever they were going next. Steven ate the last of his rations, hoping Ginger would come up with something for him to do foodwise soon. They passed a checkpoint, and as usual Ginger was checked with that horrible machine.
“Why can't they just ask her to open her mouth?” Steven whispered to Orthoclase as they watched.
“Pearls won't open their mouths, even under orders,” Orthoclase whispered back.
Steven blinked. He hadn't really expected an answer, just assumed the officials did it to be mean.
“Why?” he asked, baffled.
“No-one really knows,” Orthoclase responded. “It's just some sort of pearl-wide trait, they can't do it even if they want to. It means you have to crack their jaws for checks and certain repairs, and they'd probably choose to avoid that if they could...”
With every passing moment, life just seemed to get bleaker and bleaker for pearls. Where would it end?
Ginger was rubbing her jaw when she was returned.
“I think that Topaz has a grudge against me,” Orthoclase said as they walked away. “And she takes it out on you. Sorry about that.”
“That's okay,” Ginger replied. She sounded tired.
They walked for a long time. The public transport system only brought them so far, and it was clear whoever they were going to see was well-off. The residences they passed got bigger and bigger the further they went, until they arrived at a truly enormous estate on the outer edge of the city.
Orthoclase whistled as she rang the doorbell.
“This is really something,” she hissed. “I feel like I'm going to be tossed in isopod just for being here...”
The door creaked open, and standing in front of them was yet another pearl.
“My owner is not taking visitors today.”
“Yeah, we figured that,” Orthoclase drawled. “But we have an urgent matter to discuss with her so we aren't going to let her blow us off.”
“Just close the blasted door, Pearl!” a voice shouted from inside the estate.
“I suggest you give her different orders unless you want me to yank her right here and now,” Orthoclase called back.
There was a moment of silence, during which Steven didn't know where to look. He hadn't expected Orthoclase to make outright threats...
...and then a sharp tapping noise heralded the arrival of another gem, who gently pushed the pearl out of the way. Steven looked up...
Lapis?
...no, it's not.
This gem looked much older, far more severe than Lapis even at her angriest. It put Steven in mind of the dowager queen of some exiled nation, or something. She was dressed in what looked like an evening gown, long and straight, and her hair was pinned back immaculately in a perfectly formed bun.
The pearl looked almost like a daughter or a younger sister of this dowager. She was dressed in a shorter dress with a fuller skirt, her hair simply tied back with a green ribbon.
Neither of them looked like the kind of gem Orthoclase would ever associate with.
“Give me one good reason why I shouldn't call the Amethyst squad,” the Lapis growled, squaring up to this gem who could easily break her in half.
“Well, Pearl? Have you got a good reason for her?” Orthoclase asked Ginger.
“Yes.”
The Lapis turned to Ginger, confusion masking her annoyance.
“We have need of your pearl's skills,” Ginger began.
Incredibly, the Lapis' face softened. She looked from Ginger to her own pearl and back.
“In return, we can offer you music that has never been heard by any gem before,” Ginger finished.
Orthoclase shot a look down at Steven, a what-the-hell-kind-of-plan-is-this sort of look.
But the Lapis sighed, straightened and opened her door fully.
“You'd best come inside then,” she said. “Don't touch anything.”
Chap 10 If You Can't Take The Heat...
Chris: Last time on Total Drama Island… Our competitors became hunters. And the hunted. Owen’s game was way off. And when he finally caught wind of his prey, he totally blew it. And Cody made a new friend who quickly beat the crap out of him. Can anyone say medivac? In a weird and strangely watchable twist, Leshawna, Lindsay, Beth, and Heather turn their paintball guns on each other. It was a full on wrasse for dominance within the females of The Gopher Squad and the Gophers were sent to the bonfire. In the end, however, it was Cody who got the shaft. The Gophers are still the underdogs. Can they bounce back? Or is their goose finally cooked? Find out tonight on Total. Drama. Island!
Iris was sitting in the dining hall talking to Chef and Chris when the others piled in. "Hey Iris can we talk?" Duncan asked he sounds like a nervous kid. "Ha no I have a challenge to get ready for." She said geting up to join the Gophers. "You really upset her. She is only avoiding you because she wants the pain to stop. But you just won't let it go. You had a go thing set up for you bro and ya blew it. " Chris said before standing up to leave the campers to Chef.
Iris pov
Is he stupid  after stopping on my heart you now wanna be friends. No I will not let second place Courtney mess me up. I see how the boys are treating Harold. I stand up and walk over and sat by him. "Hey Harold you ok the boys seem to be all over you." I said patting his back. "Watch it princess what we do to our team is our business." Duncan jumps I laughed. "Oh yes of course it is,but do be careful what you do. You never know who might try something." I said walking away. "I dare you do something sugar tits." He said trying to hurt me. "Oh Duncan please if I wanted to do something....I would have done so already." I said before sitting down.
Chris: Today’s challenge will test your minds, your teamwork, and your skills in the kitchen! You’ll be cooking a three-course meal and serving it to me for tasting. The winners get a reward and the losers will send somebody home. Each team will appoint a head chef to create the theme of the meal and to oversee the cooking. To cook, you need imgredients. Every morning, a truck brings us food. Today’s task starts there.
Geoff became the hed Chef for the bass. I was aboutto volunteer but Heather jumps in. "Heather just remember we lose and its all on you." She glares at me. "We won't as long as everyone does as I say." She said ordering us to grab food. She wanted to make barbecue ribs, orange flombae, pineapple skewers. While in the middle of cooking Heather lost her eyebrows. While in a heated rant she ends up in a freezer. "Well will we let drama queen chill. Let's get to work on the rest of the food." Leshawna said.
Geoff: Okay. We’ve got like, three courses and six people. So everybody partner up!
DJ: I know how to make pasta sauce!
Bridgette: I know how to boil pasta!
[smack]
Harold: Me and Sadie can rock the antipasto. I’m like a black belt when it comes to cutting cheese.
Killer Bass except Harold: [laughing]
Duncan: Cheese.
Harold: What?
Sadie stifles a giggle.
Harold: What?!
Duncan: I guess that leaves you and me on dessert detail.
Courtney: Oh no. No way!
Geoff: Come on, Courtney. For the team.
[harp music]
(Confessional: Courtney)
Courtney: He’s totally unmotivated. And he never washed his hands. He’s so obnoxious. [fast forwarding] He’s completely delusional. [normal] Owning sunglasses doesn’t automatically make you cool. [fast forwarding] If you’re gonna wear sunglasses, at least get some stylish ones. He’s such a poser. [normal] People like that are so annoying. I mean, honestly, who does that? And don’t even get me started on his hair.
(confessional off)
Geoff: [sinister chuckle]
DJ: Uh, where do you want the water, Brid– Oops!
Harold: Aw! Hey! Smooth move, Dorkahontus!
Geoff: Oh, bummer! Better go change, dude!
DJ and Geoff stifled giggles.
(Confessionals Iris)
I honestly felt bad for him but he needs to suffer a bit more. He needs to be at the peak before I can proswade him. So as its always been patience is the only choice. This time I am actually looking forward to end game. *laughs*
*static*
(End of Confessionals)
After a few hours we finally finished and dad was ready for the food. Leshawna put Owen in charge of watching the food while we went out. That was the worst decision on her part.
Chris [ after chewing] : Your antipasto passed the testo. Pass the pasta, please. [chewing, slurp] On a scale of one to ten, fifteen. How will the Gophers respond?
Dad said before looking at us.
Leshawna gasps.
Owen: Oh…
Leshawna: Tell me you did not just eat that entire plate of ribs!
[door swings open]
Chris: Yeah, this looks like it’s uh, been eaten.
Owen: Not all of it. I think there’s a tiny chunk left on that… bone. Over there. Yeah, there.
Chris [after chewing]: You know what? I’ve had worse. Two points!
Owen: Yeah!
Chris: Ooh, close, Owen. But the Bass still lead fifteen to eleven. Time for dessert!
[chewing]
Chris: Ehhhh, six. The Bass have twenty-one, so the Gophers need all ten points just to tie it up. I have to say, this dessert looks like a winner.
[puff]
Leshawna: Oh, that’s not good.
Chris gags and chokes.
"DAD!" I yelled
Owen: Hang on, there! Hah! Yes! Got it! [chuckles]
Beth: Ewww.
Chris: What the heck is this?
Lindsay: It’s Heather’s recipe! [gasps] Oh, my gosh! She’s still in the fridge!
Leshawna: What? Girl was making everyone trip.
Chris: Oh, I hear that.
Owen [gasps] : Oh, the horror!
Heather: You guys are s-s-s-so dead! Is it over?
Chris: It is! The Bass win twenty-one to twelve and it’s not just ’cause I almost died. The ribs sucked, too.
Heather: Great! That’s just great! Why do we keep losing, people? And what is this? I didn’t approve this!
Beth: I-I brought it back as a souvenir. You know, from the other island.
Heather: You did what?!
"For once I agree with her. You dip shit that thing is cursed!" I grabbed her by the collar.
Chris: You mean Boney Island? The deadliest island in Muskoka? The one I specifically said not to take anything from or you’ll be cursed?
Beth: Yeah… I didn’t know! I’ll put it back!
Chris: Okay, the Killer Bass now lead with seven members to the Gophers’ soon to be six. And as promised, the winners will be enjoying a reward tonight. A five-star dinner under the stars.
Killer Bass cheer.
Courtney [laughing] : Okay! Put me down! [angrily] Put me down!
Leshawna: I don’t know about y’all, but Heather has got to go.
Owen: Yeah, but Beth cursed us with that wooden tiki doll thingy.
Leshawna: Mm, true. Dear curse, please hit Heather next. And if possible, hit her upside the head!
I pretend to be possessed standing going to find Heather.
Heather: You know, Lindsay, I could convince the team to vote you off tonight. You were a major traitor. But you did let me out of the fridge. So I’ll give you one more chance if you vote with me tonight. There, see? All better. Oh, and if you ever team up with Leshawna against me again, I’ll cut off all your hair while you’re sleeping. Hey what are you doing in here go away. Iris I mean it stay back. *Iris smacks Heather upside the head* Ow jerk what was that for?
You said rubbing her head. I sit back with Leshawna acting as uf nothing happened.
(confessionals : Screaming Gophers (minus Beth))
Heather :Today’s vote was really hard, but only because there were so many annoying people to choose from.
Lindsay(laughing) : I can’t believe we locked her in the fridge! That was so cool!(stops laughing) She’s not going to see this, is she?
Heather: Leshawna is a royal pain in the butt. And Owen completely screwed up everything for us.
Lindsay: Her eyebrows look so bad! I’d kinda like to vote Heather off, but…
Heather: I vote for Beth.
Owen [burps] : Beth.
Iris "sorry you little dipshit time to go."
(confessionals off)
At the elimination Ceriomony
[dramatic music]
[fire crackles]
Chris: I’ve got seven Gophers sitting in front of me tonight. But only seven fluffy bits of sweet safety in my hands. So good luck. When I call your name, come up and get your marshmallow. Leshawna. Iris. Owen. Gwen. Trent. Lindsay. Heather, Beth. It’s down to you. Whoever doesn’t get this last marshmallow must immediately walk The Dock of Shame and leave on the Boat of Losers. Forever.
[dramatic music]
Chris: The final marshmallow goes to… Heather.
Heather: You heard him. Boat of Losers, that-a-way. That really was stupid of you to take that doll from the island.
Leshawna: Seeya girl.
Chris: That’s it for tonight. And you might wanna burn some sage to get rid of any lingering curse vibes.
Leshawna: Cool. Will Chef give us some sage?
Chris: Nope. So good luck with that.
Iris "I have some." I said annoyed
[wolf howls]
Harold snores
Girls giggle
Courtney and Leshawna: Good morning, Harold.
Harold: Ee!
Duncan: So, learned your lesson yet?
Harold: Yes! Okay! Yes!
Geoff: Oh, we’re gonna need more than that, man.
Harold: I’ll never leave my crusty underwear out again! I swear!
Geoff: What the heck? I believe him.(throws a sack full of underwear at Harold) It was a pleasure doing business with you!
DJ, Duncan, and Geoff laugh.
I found Harold by himself knowing the time was right.
Exclusive Sneak Peek!
I have decided to post the first chapter of my WIP (in its roughest form) because I’m dying to share this story with everyone. I am so excited to be writing it after dreaming of it for so long, and I cannot wait to see how it turns out in the end. Keep reading for The Lesser Courts, Book 1, Chapter 1... “The Faerie Ring.” And please ignore any typos and grammatical errors you might see. As I said, she is rough! Enjoy. :)
It rained the day they buried Sadie’s mother. The sky was all black and gray, and it poured down buckets of fat, cold drops, as if walking through a cemetery with a bunch of estranged acquaintances wasn’t bad enough already. They moved like a mob of penguins, dressed all in black and shuffling through the mud toward the rectangular hole in the ground where Melissa Parker’s body would rest forever.
The funeral had felt agonizingly slow, though they hadn’t spent much time there in reality. Now, time moved in pieces, like the broken shards of a mirror shifting at the bottom of a shimmering pool. Sadie couldn’t feel her feet, and only knew they were carrying her because every time she blinked, her surroundings had changed. She felt a warm arm linked through hers and looked; of course, it was Nobu. Probably the only reason she was still on her feet at that moment.
Her best friend turned and gave her a sad smile, and a wink. The rain had flattened his dark hair against his forehead, and she could see the scar above his eyebrow, which he’d gotten falling off of the monkey bars when they were young. He’d gone up there to help Sadie down, and ended up hurting himself. Every time Sadie saw that scar, she was reminded of all the things Nobu had done for her, and how he had always been there for her when she needed someone. That very moment, for example.
As she watched her mother’s casket drift lower into the ground, Sadie tightened her grip on Nobu’s arm and glanced around at the unfamiliar faces of the few people who had come to mourn her mother.
The only face she knew was that of her mother’s older sister, Ira. Aunt Ira was a woman Sadie had rarely seen, but could never forget, with her blackened teeth and foggy left eye. Aunt Ira walked with a limp and grew long hairs out of the mole on her chin. Usually, Sadie wouldn’t judge a person by the way they looked. But not only was Aunt Ira terrible to look at, she had a heart as black as her teeth and a soul as sour as her socks. The worst part about Aunt Ira was that she had become Sadie’s legal guardian.
“Amen,” said the priest. He’d been talking, Sadie supposed, but she hadn’t heard him until now, as he addressed her. “I believe Miss Sadie Parker wanted to say a word about her mother before we conclude our ceremony this afternoon.”
Sadie blinked around at the people huddled under five or six black umbrellas, and Aunt Ira with her big black hat. Carefully, she pulled her arm away from Nobu and tiptoed through the mud to stand next to the priest. She had been told his name once or twice, but it never seemed to stick.
“Thank you,” Sadie squeaked. She cleared her throat and pulled a crumpled wad of paper from her pocket and unfolded it noisily. Rain drops smudged the handwritten blue words like watercolors. “My mom – Melissa – was really into poetry. She used to read poems to me all the time when I was little.” Sadie felt her eyes and throat burning and swallowed. “This was one of her favorites and, when she got sick, she asked me to—to read it—” Her throat was closing up. The memory of her mother washed over her like a wave of nausea. She glanced out at Nobu who looked back, his dark eyes narrowed in concern, and nodded toward her. You can do this, she thought. That’s what he’s telling me. Reminding me. I’m strong, I can read this stupid poem.
She took a deep breath, focused on a bleach stain in Aunt Ira’s jacket, and recited the poem from memory, though the damp page was clutched tightly in her hand.
“Fortunate are those, who seek the Faerie Ring; who step into the circle; who dance, and laugh, and sing.” Sadie smiled, remembering the sound of her mother’s voice when she would chant this poem as she skipped through the house on certain mornings, throwing open all the windows as she went. “The Faeries, then, will take you to a magical place, with plenty to see, and plenty to do, plenty to feel and taste. After your last breath, do not go toward the light. Instead, look down, dig underground, and speak the Faerie Rite.”
Sadie imagined her mother clawing at the muddy ground inside a deep dark tunnel, her golden hair snarled and falling over her face. She could almost hear Melissa’s voice, sobbing as she dug, chanting through her shaking breaths.
“By the wisdom of this ancient soil,” Sadie continued, her voice strong, “the powers of earth, air, fire, and oil. Water and metal and mineral ore, the power of spirit, of sand and shore. By the name of Godric, Faerie King, I command you open this Faerie Ring.”
Thunder clapped in the distance, and there were quiet gasps throughout the small crowd. Sadie frowned as the rain came down harder, heavier. She was almost finished; she continued to read.
“Allow me passage into the lands and gifts I will place into your hands.” From her pocket, Sadie pulled a long, heavy necklace. The silver chain held a large, bright green stone that seemed to shimmer in a ray of sunlight that wasn’t there. She stared down at it for a moment; a pendant she had seen every day for her entire life, which her mother had always worn, even in her bathing suit. No matter where they went, no matter what she was wearing, Melissa Parker never went anywhere without that big green rock around her neck. And Sadie would be damned if she was going to pass into the afterlife without it.
She stepped forward toward her mother’s grave, just as a bolt of lightning sliced across the sky, and she dropped the necklace to land on top of the casket with a thud. Then, she stepped back and finished the poem.
“Secret Country, now unveil, open the door to Ironvale.” As Sadie finished, the sky flashed and thunder rumbled again. It was a coincidence, of course, but she shivered at the warning bell ringing in the back of her intuitive mind. She walked over to stand next to Nobu, and he wrapped an arm around her, pulling her close.
“Thanks for the poem,” she said. “Mom loved that one.”
“I know,” Nobu replied.
Soon, all the other penguins had disappeared, except for Aunt Ira. She waited impatiently in the car while Sadie hugged Nobu goodbye, promising to call as soon as she got settled at Ira’s house.
As they pulled away from the dreary, rainy cemetery, Sadie gazed out the window toward the gaping wound in the earth that was her mother’s final resting place, which very closely resembled the gaping wound in Sadie’s heart. But something else caught her eye on the edge of the woods along the opposite side of the cemetery that struck her even harder; a red-haired young man perched high up in the treetops, staring right back at her. It wasn’t the staring that struck Sadie as odd or intriguing or maybe even a little terrifying, nor was it the red hair, or the fact that he was in a tree. It was the fact that she could swear she had seen him somewhere before.
         Aunt Ira’s house stood at the end of a long, twisting driveway that wove through a forest of bare trees. It was early spring and, though it would be a few weeks before things began to blossom, Sadie was pretty sure these trees hadn’t grown a single bud in ages. The house itself was tall; too tall and large for only one woman to live inside.
Ira used to have a husband, and he had a few kids from a previous marriage. But Sadie hadn’t seen her pseudo-cousins since Ira’s divorce. She was a lonely, wretched woman, and the interior of her house reflected that.
Inside, the lights were dim, the walls painted in deep, ashy, earth tones. The floors were dark, scuffed wood, and tall, dusty bookcases lined the main entrance hall, as well as the living room and the study. Sadie followed Ira upstairs, the air thick with dust and the stinging scent of moth balls, to find her new bedroom.
“Here you are,” Ira said. She pushed open a creaking door to a small room with a slanted roof and an aluminum-framed twin bed. There was one small window in the wall opposite the door, and it was a small, round window, like the type you might find in the lower parts of a ship. Sadie doubted that it opened at all as she glanced around the tiny space at the cracks in the floor, the stained wallpaper, and the thick cobwebs in the corners of the ceiling. There was no light switch, no light fixture at all, and only one socket.
“Aren’t there any other rooms?” Sadie asked. “One with a window that might open, maybe?” She looked up at her aunt with her round, teal eyes – the puppy dog expression worked on everyone – and batted her lashes.
Aunt Ira snorted. “This is the only empty room I’ve got, Princess. Dinner is at seven. I hope not to see you until then.” She turned and limped down the hallway without another word.
Sadie sighed as she entered her room, dragging her bags behind her, and shut the door. For the next few hours, she cleaned as well as she could and started to unpack, trying her best to make the room feel like home. But it was cold and dark and unfamiliar, and all of her efforts seemed completely pointless.
Later that night, at seven o’clock, Sadie found her way through the drafty, candle-lit house to the dining room, where Aunt Ira had placed a microwaved dinner and a can of Coca-Cola in front of an empty seat for her.
“Before you ask,” said Aunt Ira, sitting on the other side of the table, “this is all there is. I’ve got no fancy cakes or anything for you.” She chuckled at herself and began sawing at the slab of brown in front of her that was probably supposed to be meat.
Sadie sat without a word and decided that the corn looked like the most edible part of the dish. She began picking at it until she realized that some of the kernels were still frozen. After about fifteen minutes of pushing the “food” around her plastic plate and listening to Aunt Ira chew and swallow, chasing each bite with a swig of rum and Coke, Sadie took care of her dishes and went back up to her room.
The next morning, she woke up shivering, with the rising sun blasting right through her tiny, circular window and directly into her eyes. It was only six o’clock in the morning but going back to sleep was out of the question. So, Sadie got up, got dressed, and went downstairs to browse the books that lined Aunt Ira’s walls. They were the only part about the house that didn’t totally suck.
In the hall, Sadie found a cordless phone and called Nobu, speaking softly so as not to wake Aunt Ira while her eyes skimmed the cracking spines of the old books in the study.
“How was your first night?” Nobu asked.
Sadie shrugged, though he couldn’t see her, and said, “Not awful. But not awesome, either. You should see my room. I think it’s a actually closet.”
“At least you only have to live with her for a few months.”
“Yep,” Sadie replied. “As soon as I turn seventeen, I’m out of here. No idea where I’ll go, but I can’t stay here forever. This isn’t my home.”
“Want me to come over today?” asked Nobu.
Sadie’s big, round eyes fell on a book that seemed oddly familiar to her. She reached for it, and slid the small, green, canvas-bound tome from the shelf.
“Yeah,” she said, slowly. “I just found something you might be interested in.” She opened the book, titled How to Catch a Faerie, and ran her finger over the name scribbled in the corner of the inside cover; Melissa Parker.
 It took Nobu forty-five minutes to drive his mom’s van across town to Aunt Ira’s house, and the woman was up and making a pot of smelly tea when Sadie saw the van pulling down the long driveway.
“I’m going to hang out with a friend for a little while,” Sadie said. “I’ll be back in a few hours.”
“Oh, yes,” Aunt Ira replied, an air of sarcasm in her voice. “Come and go as you please, Your Highness, but don’t forget; dinner is at seven, and I lock the doors at nine.”
“I remember,” said Sadie.
She slipped out the door and ran to hop into the passenger seat of the van. Nobu greeted her with a smile, and she pulled the small, green book from her pocket.
“It’s my mom’s,” she said. “We should bring it to her. To her grave, I mean.”
Nobu nodded. “Okay.”
They drove up the drive of the cemetery, just beginning to dry in the weak sun after the previous days of heavy rain. The clouds above them were breaking apart as Sadie and Nobu walked across the green grass, weaving between headstones. They looked ridiculous walking together, with Nobu towering over tiny Sadie, and yet walking somehow lighter and less clumsy than her. His black hair was straight and bodiless, while hers was long and golden brown and full of bounce. He was dark and strong and silent, like a statue made of stone, and she was delicate and soft as the petals of a tulip.
Sadie gripped the Faerie book tightly as they walked, until they reached the damp, churned soil of Melissa Parker’s recent grave. Sadie sat down in the cold grass and Nobu knelt next to her as she opened up the book and thumbed through the pages.
“Which one should I read?” she asked, her voice trembling slightly as she looked to her friend for any kind of support he could give.
He reached out and took the book from her. “Let me see.” And Sadie watched his eyes move quickly across the pages as he skimmed and flipped and turned and chewed his bottom lip. Then, Nobu frowned and Sadie looked down at the book in his hands. He had turned to the very back, where a poem had been handwritten in unfamiliar, gorgeous, scrawling cursive.
“How about this one?” he said, passing to book to her.
As she gazed down at the page, she could practically feel the atmosphere around her changing, becoming heavier and somehow lighter all at once. She took a deep breath and began to read the handwritten poem aloud.
“A maiden, there, came dancing, into the Faerie ring. Her eyes squeezed tight against the light, she had not seen the thing.” Sadie thought of all the stories her mother had once told her, of Faerie Rings and Magick and a world beneath Earth’s surface where it all exists. They were just stories, Sadie had always thought, but her mother was so passionate about them, that they had begun to feel real over the years.
“The maiden, there, went prancing, around the Faerie Ring. Her hair blew round and came unbound and she began to sing.” Sadie couldn’t help but picture her mother, with her golden waves flowing around her like oil floating through water, singing, as always. “The maiden began chanting, across the Faerie Ring. The song was old, a tale it told, about the death of Spring.”
Sadie stopped. The air around her had gone impossibly still and silent, not even a bird was chirping anymore. She knew that song, The Death of Spring. She had heard her mother singing it at least a thousand times. It was a real song. She swallowed and read the final verse of the poem.
“The maiden could do nothing, within the Faerie Ring. An icy breeze, and the maiden was seized, by the savage Faerie King.”
Sadie blinked. She and Nobu sat quietly, staring down at the words written on the worn paper before them, the silence around them deafening.
“Well,” Nobu said, finally. “I’ve never heard that one before. Just goes to show, you can study something for years and years, and still find something new here and there.”
Sadie couldn’t shake the strange feeling that had fallen over her as she’d read the poem. She had read tons of Faerie poems in her life; her mother was a believer and her best friend was an Occultist who studied Faeries. But nothing she had ever found or seen or read or learned had ever caused her to feel the way she did now.
“Looks like it’s going to rain again,” Nobu said.
Sadie glanced up at the sky, gray clouds rolling quickly across the sheet of blue overhead. “Huh? It’s supposed to be clear skies all day.”
“Surprise,” Nobu replied, hopping to his feet. “The weatherman is not always right, Parker.” He extended his hand and helped Sadie to her feet. “You gonna leave that book here for her?”
Sadie stood and glanced between the book in her hand and the grave at her feet. She shook her head. “No. Not if it’s going to rain. I don’t want it to get ruined.”
They walked away arm in arm as the sky darkened above them and a chill breeze rolled through, as if it were following them out of the cemetery. When they reached the van, Nobu got into the driver’s seat and started the engine. Sadie opened the passenger side door and dropped the book in, but before she could climb into the van, she felt a strange compulsion to look behind her. She could feel, like a stab of heat, a pair of eyes on her from somewhere in the distance.
Sadie glanced over her shoulder, saw a streak of orange in her peripheral vision, and spun around. Her eyes narrowed as they skimmed the cemetery, left and right, and all the way back toward the woods on the other side. Her heart stopped cold for a solid second when she saw him; the boy with the red hair, perched in the tree. And without a second thought, she darted across the cemetery toward him.
“Sadie!”
She could hear Nobu’s voice calling to her, but she kept on running. He would chase her, she knew, and he would probably catch up. But she couldn’t stop now. She had her eyes locked on the redhead in the tree and she wasn’t stopping until she reached him. Then, should would ask him who he was and why he was following her and why the hell he looked so familiar, even though she couldn’t see his face.
Sadie and Nobu were both stars on their high school track team, but Nobu was much faster. His long legs could carry him the length of Sadie’s entire body in one stride. He caught up quick and stopped her when she was just a few yards from the edge of the woods. She turned to him, trying to catch her breath.
“I have to know who he is,” she said between gasps of air. “I’ve seen him here twice now, and I want to know who he is.”
“What are you talking about?” Nobu asked.
“Him!” Sadie pointed toward the trees, and they both looked. But he was gone.
 That night, Sadie could not sleep. Nobu didn’t seem to have the same problem, snoring softly on her bedroom floor. He’d parked his van down the street and snuck in while Aunt Ira was in the shower, after Sadie had told him she didn’t want to be alone.
She couldn’t get the image of the familiar red-haired figure in the tree out of her mind, and something in her heart was telling her that there was more to it; more to him; more to the odd connection she felt to him.
“Nobu?” she whispered.
He didn’t budge.
Sadie slipped out from under her covers and tiptoed past her sleeping friend. She was small and slight and made no noise, even on the old, swollen floorboards. She grabbed her robe off of the door and slipped it on over her silk sleep shorts and camisole. Her bare, bony feet carried her silently downstairs and into the study, where she lit a candle and skimmed the rows of books, searching for something useful. Her skin tingled; she could feel that she was onto something, she just wasn’t sure what.
A book caught her eye as the candlelight glimmered across the golden letters stamped down the spine. Sadie looked closer at the dark red leather volume and read the title: Call of the Fae. There was no author listed. Sadie pulled the book from the shelf and set her candle into a holder on the desk.
She set the heavy book down and just stared at the cover for a moment. Then, she reached forward and opened it blindly to a random page in the center. The top of the page was titled The Faerie Ring and there was an old black and white drawing of a circle of mushrooms in the grass. Sadie’s eyes began to skim the pages, until she heard footsteps descending the stairs. She read faster, trying to absorb as much of the page as she could, knowing that, somehow, she was meant to see it.
Sadie slid the book back onto the shelf when she heard the footsteps reach the ground floor. She grabbed her candle and spun around to find herself suddenly face to face with Nobu. He rubbed his eyes, frowning at her.
“What are you doing?” he asked.
Sadie sighed. “I thought you were Aunt Ira.”
Nobu scoffed. “Ew. Rude.”
Sadie rolled her eyes.
“What are you doing in here?” Nobu asked again.
“Reading,” said Sadie. “I couldn’t sleep. And… Nobu, I think we should go back to the cemetery.”
“Right now?”
Sadie nodded. “Right now.”
“Why?”
She shrugged, her wide, watery eyes sparkling up at him in the candlelight.
Nobu yawned, stretched, and glanced toward the window. The sun would peak over the horizon soon, and then Aunt Ira would be up and he would have to leave anyway.
“Okay,” he said.
 Not knowing particularly why, Sadie urged Nobu to run with her to the van, and to drive as fast as he could. He didn’t ask any questions, just did as he was asked, as always. He saw no harm in returning to the cemetery if Sadie wanted to be close to her mother.
The rain had stopped and it was a warm, breezy spring morning. Sadie felt the humidity on her skin for the first time since the previous summer and sighed with relief at the long-awaited return of sunshine and warm weather. She and Nobu walked briskly across the cemetery, right past Sadie’s mother’s grave, and toward the woods.
Sadie’s eyes were locked on the tree where she had seen the strangely familiar boy twice before, expecting him to simply appear at the blink of an eye. But he didn’t. They continued into the trees, the ground damp and covered in last year’s decaying foliage. Sadie practically glided through the trees while Nobu slipped along behind her, clumsily dodging tree branches and nearly falling every few steps when his sneakers sunk into the muddy leaves. He was tall and long-limbed and not necessarily coordinated. He was fast, though; one of the fastest runners on Sadie’s high school track team.
As they came to a small clearing in the woods, Sadie’s heart raced. She gripped Nobu’s wrist and could see his giant grin from the corner of her eye. The early morning sunlight beamed down through the opening in the trees to shine on a perfect circle of bright green grass. Around the edge of it were mushrooms, like little gray stools surrounding a big, circular stage. Sadie patted her pocket; she’d changed into black jeans and a purple tank top before leaving, her light blue sweatshirt tied around her waist. From her pocket, she procured what she’d been looking for; the small green canvas-bound book that used to belong to her mother.
“Okay,” said Nobu, “hang on a second. If this is real, you need to be very careful—we both need to be very careful about what we do next.”
Sadie didn’t move. She stood inches from the edge of the ring of mushrooms, her skin tingling, unable to blink or speak or think. Could it be? Could this possibly be an actual Faerie Ring, a portal into another world?
“Sadie.” Nobu’s voice was a bit louder now, insistent. “I think you should back away from the Ring.” He reached out and brushed her shoulder, and she turned to look at him, her eyes wide with wonder.
“We have to,” she said. “We have to go in.”
“No.” He shook his head. “Absolutely not, Parker, we are going to turn around and leave, right now. This isn’t safe.”
“Are you kidding me? You’ve been studying the Fae since you learned how to read. You should be jumping at the chance, this once in a lifetime opportunity to explore the world you think you know so much about.”
Nobu narrowed his eyes, crossed his arms. “If any of what I’ve learned about Faerie is true, then it is a very dangerous place. People like us are not welcome there.”
“If we weren’t welcome there,” said Sadie, “then why was I led to this Ring? Why would they bring us here if we weren’t meant to accept the invitation? You, of all people, should understand what it means to say no to an invitation from the Fae.”
That was it, Sadie thought. She had to appeal to his existing knowledge. She herself knew a little, and it was enough to pique her interest. If this Ring was just a natural coincidence, then so be it. But she would hate herself forever if she never even tried. She would wonder, for the rest of her life, and always regret not taking the chance.
“I’m doing this,” she said. “You don’t have to come with me, Nobu, but I refuse to turn my back. I’m stepping into that ring and, if all the lore is true and I get sucked into Faerie, well… then you’ll know, won’t you? You’ll know once and for all, for sure, one-hundred percent.”
He sighed. “I know it won’t matter what I say but I have to ask you not to do this, Sadie. Please. If Faerie is real, and you do open a door into that world, you have no idea what you’re getting yourself into. You could get trapped in between the two worlds – in Limbo – and never see me or anyone else ever again.”
They stared intently at each other for a moment and then, from the trees on the other side of the Ring, there came a voice that said, “He has a point, you know.”
Sadie and Nobu both turned to look, squinting through the beam of hot yellow sunlight that cut the air between them and whoever had spoken. The voice came again. “You really should not pass into Faerie without a proper guide, my lady. I would hate to have to travel into Limbo to rescue you.”
Sadie stood still and watched as the figure on the other side of the Ring began to move toward her, cutting straight across the patch of grass. Bars of golden sunlight poured down all around the tall, lean, figure, igniting his unruly hair like a rust red fire and dancing like fragments of diamond in his pale blue eyes.
It was like a moment in a movie; the wind blew gently through the trees, shaking branches together like nature’s wind chimes; time itself felt as though it had slowed down; in the distance, Sadie swore she could hear a beautiful bird song. Her chest ached for a moment as if her heart had swelled and threatened to burst. A sensation she had never known in her life washed over her, from head to toe, like a heat stroke. Her palms were sweating and her knees trembled, threatening to knock together and carry her crashing toward the ground at any moment.
She looked up. He stood before her, towering above her the way Nobu always had. He looked down at her with a sideways grin, and then bowed dramatically with one arm behind his back, the other extended toward her.
“It pleases me greatly to be once again in your presence, Miss Parker.”
Nobu snickered behind her and Sadie blushed. “Huh?”
“Forgive me,” said the mysterious red-haired boy. “I was told that you may not remember me. Let me introduce myself.” He took her hand, his skin soft and dotted here and there with faint freckles. His fingernails were painted gold. “My name is Quentin DeCroi, Soldier of the Solstice Army and Right Arm of the Daylight Prince. I have been looking for you a long, long time.”
Contrary to popular belief, Ace Hearts was perfectly content with being his sister’s left hand man.  He’d wanted to help her run the isle since long before she’d ever dreamt of doing such a thing.  Being her enforcer, her advisor, her defender in her reign was all he’d ever wanted.  There shouldn’t have been any problem.  Only, there was.  Ace wanted more.  Specifically, he wanted a certain blue haired princess who’d devoted herself to good and to saving the children of the Isle.  But as the changing tides in Auradon start to reflect back onto the Isle, Ace finds he might have to make a choice.
Auradon didn’t hold much value for second born royals, least of all girls.  Princess Adelaide knew that her life had been planned from the day she was born; that she would spend her childhood learning to be a proper princess, attend high school at Auradon Prep, and within a year of her eighteenth birthday she would be married to Chad Charming.  She had accepted it all.  Her lessons were boring but endurable, she had wonderful friends at Auradon Prep, and Chad was her best friend.  She knew better than to expect anything more out of life.
But when Ben brings a group of kids over from the Isle, Ada finds herself wondering if there isn’t a life for her beyond the borders of Auradon; a life where she can make her own path instead of following the one that was mapped out for her.  A path that leads her right to a certain pirate with an accent to die for, and to a discovery about herself that may change the future of the entire kingdom of Auradon.
Nimue, daughter of Arthur and Gwen, and Avalon Le Fay, daughter or Merlin and Morgana, had always been thick as thieves, and had always been ready to declare war on Auradon.  Ever since the formation of the Isle, King Adam and the Fairy Godmother had been insisting that Morgana was still a villain, and therefore belonged on the Isle, and once Avalon was born, she agreed–so long as her daughter could stay in Camelot.  When Arthur was killed barely a year later, Merlin and Gwen partnered up to raise their daughters and run a kingdom, until the girls would be old enough to do so themselves.  Of course Auradon never trusted the one kingdom that refused to unite, and insisted that the girls be sent to Auradon prep, and so they went–reluctant as could be.  Everything was fine, mostly–the other princesses looked down on Nimue’s love of swordfighting, and Avalon was never seen as anything but a villain kid, but they still had each other.  They could tolerate it all, biding their time.  But at sixteen years of age, everything they’d ever planned gets thrown for a loop when it’s declared that four children from the Isle would be moving to Auradon.
If King Adam had known the price of banishing magic from Auradon, he might have reconsidered.  But the former Beast was a stubborn man who refused to heed any warnings, and it had backfired.  He hadn’t known that banishing all magic would rip the last remains of the Enchantress’ curse from his veins, hadn’t known that the magic would redirect itself into the Enchantress, and he certainly hadn’t known that it would lead to the immediate birth of his firstborn child.  But it had.  And while he had no qualms about sending the Enchantress to the Isle, the queen had refused to send her stepdaughter, and so Princess Beatrice had been raised in Auradon alongside her younger brother.  She knew the truth about her birth, and she knew that her father hated her with every fibre of his being, but she didn’t care.  What she did care about was Ben’s decision to bring children from the Isle to Auradon - children that could have been her, had Belle not stepped in - and proving to her father, once and for all, that her generation is something more than just the children of heroes and villains, that they can be their own people and make their own choices.  And maybe the children of the four baddest villains are the perfect people to help her with that plan.
Cian Hearts didn’t hate Auradon.  No, to hate Auradon would suggest that he cared, and he didn’t.  He cared about surviving, about maintaining his mother’s territory and protecting his people, not about Auradon.  Nor, to his mother’s displeasure, about Wonderland.  Neither would help him live to see another day, so neither warranted a second thought on his part.  Or so he believed, until he received an invitation – a royal summons, if you asked him – to attend Auradon Prep along with four others from the isle.  With no real say in the matter, Cian packs up his life and crosses the barrier, determined to keep his head down – and attached to his neck – until Prince Ben gave up on his foolish plan.  Unfortunately, the king-to-be forgot to mention that they would be starting school with one more transfer student: Violet Kingsleigh, heir to Wonderland and daughter of his mother’s sworn nemesis.
On the Isle Of The Lost, survival was a simple matter of strength and power. Cosette Bellefleur knew that she would never have the strength, so instead she focused on the power. Sharpening her own skillset, Cosette earned herself the protection of the strongest of the strong: Gaston. And while she may have had her flirtations and her flings, at the end of the day, Cosette belonged to Gaston, and his strength belonged to her. It was the perfect system.
But when Prince Ben, soon to be King Ben, makes his first royal proclamation, everything changes. In a fit of what he undoubtedly considered fairytale-level kindness, five children of villains would be brought to Auradon, and Cosette would be one of them. It made sense, of course, but that didn’t make it any less unpleasant for her. Ripped away from her friends and lovers, from her home, and from her protector, Cosette would have no one to rely on but Mal’s crew, and there was certainly no lost love there.
But when her unwilling allies need a way to get close to the prince, Cosette may just find a way to ensure their loyalty and secure herself a new protector all in one fell swoop.
How Max Came to Be
Pairing: Lumax
Max moved to Hawkins in the fall of 1984, with her fiery hair that matched the fall colors and her blue eyes that matched the autumn sky. Even though she was from across the country, she seemed to belong here, somehow, with the way she fit so seamlessly into the boys' group. When Eleven disappeared and Will came back to life, it sent a shock-wave through the group's dynamic; Mike missed El terribly, Will seemed distant and nervous (more than he'd been before), and Dustin and Lucas were left to try and cheer up their best friends. It all felt off. But when Max arrived, Max with her untamed red hair and her loud laugh and her too-big hand-me-down clothes, she fit in like a puzzle piece that had been missing. And in such a tight-knit group, one piece made all the difference. She was different like them, another warrior in a group of misunderstood kids who, despite feeling outcast by everyone else, cared about each other fiercely. She was another person to talk to, to laugh with and to play with but also to lift up when she showed up with bruises on her arms and tears on her face. After all, they were misfits; they'd all been there, and there was no way they were letting anyone else go through that alone. And so Max became a friend, a best friend, to each of the boys.
As September was replaced by the biting winds of October, it felt as if Max had been there for years, not just a month. The boys looked up to her; she was a girl, sure, but she shattered any stereotypes as she was the fiercest and the toughest. She did things they were too scared to do, said things they wouldn't dare repeat. The first time Troy bothered them during recess, he'd already found a name to call Max: Gingersnap. It wasn't even a mean name, but the sneer on his face when he said it ground Max's gears. As he went down the line - Frogface, Midnight, Toothless, Queer - Max's face only got redder.
"At least it's not Douchebag," she spat, and in a blur that the boys all seem to recall a little differently, she left Troy with a bloody nose and a fearful look on his face. He didn't bother them for awhile after that.
Max was tough for sure, tougher than any of the boys, but she struggled at home more than anyone. So Max, the proud princess who told off bullies and left them running and afraid, let herself collapse in Mike's basement and in Castle Byers, and they let her. She could finally be weak, she could finally feel cared for without feeling ashamed. But she was not weak, the boys knew it and they insisted it. She was so strong and so brave, and Lucas was always the most persistent in reminding her. When she showed up to play Dungeons & Dragons with a new cigarette burn on her wrist, a silence fell over the group, because they knew but they also knew that Max preferred to pretend it wasn't real, that it didn't happen, that she was tougher than she was. As much as the boys wanted to help her, she came to them to not talk about it, to forget about it. Most of the time, she would just show up and they would see, they would see the look in her eyes and the shine on her cheeks, and she would just cry and they wouldn't ask, wouldn't tell, but they would hug her and distract her with happier things.
On a windy night, a week before Halloween, the boys and Max were sitting around the table in Mike's basement, vigorously rolling dice and shouting numbers. That day, Max had shown up with an angry bruise just under her left eye, and had insisted on coming through the basement door. She knew Karen Wheeler would freak if she saw it because she was kind and the kind of mom Max wished she had, but she just had her dad and Billy and a house that felt empty and scary. With a tremble in her voice that everyone pretended not to notice, she had said, "Don't worry. I left him with some nasty ones too." And so they all gave her a hug, she promised she would be okay, and they took her mind off of it with a nine-hour campaign of monster-fighting and princess-saving.
As the boys started to leave one by one, Mike made sure that Max didn't want him to tell his mom, to do something, anything, but she insisted that she was fine and that she was handling it as well as a thirteen-year-old girl could handle something like this. After all, she was the tough one. That night, Lucas left with her, hoping she would let him take her home. He couldn't say it was because he was worried; she'd definitely say no, so he said he just wanted to talk about comics. Max slipped her faded yellow hoodie over her head, and Lucas put on his red fur-lined coat and they both shivered at the same time before laughing about it.
Lucas picked his bike up from the side of Mike's house and Sadie tucked her board under her arm until they got to the street, where they both hopped on their rides of choice. They talked about the newest issue of X-Men until the warm glow of Max's house lights appeared. As Max skidded to a stop, Lucas did, too.
"What're you doing?" Max asked, her nose wrinkled a little in confusion.
"I- just wanted to say goodnight," Lucas said, suddenly realizing this was stupid and that he had no plan on what to do or say.
"Oh. Well, night, Lucas. See you at school tomorrow?" Max's tone was blunt, always straight-to-the-point, but her eyes always betrayed her mouth. The slight raise of her eyebrows and the smiling glint in her eyes said everything; she insisted to herself that feelings weren't for tough girls, but she couldn't hide everything.
"Uh, yeah," Lucas replied, wishing he'd planned this better, wishing he had some other way to stall so he could talk to her and admire her freckles and copper hair. As he started to slide a leg back over his bike, he stopped. "Max?"
She hadn't gone anywhere, and she just shrugged, signaling for Lucas to talk.
"I know you don't, like, talk about all this," he started, pausing to wave his hands in a gesture towards her house, "But...can we? Ever?" He stepped closer, so he was maybe a foot away, and for once Max didn't get defensive and back away.
Instead, she lifted a hand to her cheek, where her black eye was, and sighed. "There's nothing to say. My brother's an asshole, and my dad isn't around enough to care."
Lucas took one step closer, slowly and carefully. "What about the rest of us? And- I mean, what about me? I care. That's why we're- friends." He seemed to choke on the word friends, as if he'd wanted to say something else, but couldn't.
Max looked at the ground, shuffling her feet anxiously. He's right. They- he deserves to know more about me, after all he's done for me. Just let someone IN, Max, let someone HELP you! she pleaded to herself. You finally found someone who understands, and you're gonna shut him OUT?  With a resigned sigh, a small smile came across her face as she closed the distance between them.
"Yeah, I- I guess you're right. But, I gotta go for now, okay? Billy, he's gonna be- mad. You know him," she said quietly, feeling the strangest heat behind her cheeks. Blushing? Over a BOY?
That answer seemed good enough for Lucas, and he smiled a little half-smile and opened his arms for a hug; Max wasn't the hugging type, but it seemed like a good time to try. To his surprise, she returned it with a bear hug, squeezing until he felt he couldn't breathe. He could've sworn she whispered "thank you" into his ear. She would be okay, he was sure of it. She was braver than he would ever be, stronger than he could ever hope to be.
That hug seemed to last longer than the five seconds it did, but something even stranger happened as they pulled away. Max held onto Lucas's shoulders, and, with a shy smile and an uncharacteristic giggle, she gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. Lucas stood for a moment, stunned, then breathed a sigh of relief and smiled at his friend.
"Thank you, Lucas. Really thank you," Max said, her cheeks redder than her hair. As the front door swung open and Billy stepped outside, Max quickly waved goodbye and called, "We'll talk soon! Promise!" Then she slipped into the brightness of her house, and Lucas had only the sound of his heart beating through his chest to listen to on the way home.
Day 02 - Epcot
TLDR: Epcot. A slightly later start today though a pretty full and non stop day once we began. Spaceship Earth up first, squeezed into the Ellen's Energy Adventure, then Test Track with a touch of competitive spirit. Living with the Land, Circle of Life and then Soarin’ in quick succession. Finished off with the new ride - Frozen Ever After and decided to skip out on World Showcase in favour of heading straight to Miller's Alehouse for my first proper meal of the trip. Walmart, then home, early (earlier).
The future is what you make it!
Sooo Robert had been unimpressed by the shops we had visited to far, mainly because they didn’t stock Pokemon cards. With the thunderstorms last night, we promised we visit Walmart first thing, which we did prior to picking up my Mum & Dad for Epcot. That meant skipping breakfast. Again. Picked up a wee rucksack so we could carry around all our rain jackets and little extras. Robert got his Pokemon cards and Gracie managed to find yet another collectable in the form of Hatchimal miniatures. Patrick and I had been speaking prior to the holiday about another card collection called Magic: The Gathering, but neither me nor him knew much about them. He picked up a starter pack to have a look. As someone who like his RPG and Fantasy things, I was a little intrigued. I dont think it will take Patrick long to become an expert.
Swung back around to pick up my Mum and Dad who were waiting for us at their Hotel with coffee in hand - result! The other party (which I'll cover in just a sec), were heading to Mass first and planned to catch us up at Epcot when they were done. So let me backtrack a little and explain who is actually all here as I havent yet done so and were already two days in - thats just impolite, so sorry.
Fifeteen of us in total. First off we have our wee family of five, Me, Ann, Patrick, Robert & Grace - Ive went on at length about all of us at some point in the past - yeah, you know who we are. Then its my mum and dad, Sadie & Wullie, Orlando veterans and all round great parents. My brother Michael is up next, with Sarah Jane, Corrie, Alessio and their wee baby who recently had her first birthday - Isabella. And finally we have my sister Pauline with Kevin & Emily. Both Emily and Isabella are first timers to Orlando and all things Disney, so makes it an extra special visit. Ourselves and my parents share the first car, My brother, sister and their families share the second. I'll refer to the latter as 'the other party' at times but this is entirely for brevity. Now, back to the story...
We ended up getting to Epcot around 10:30 which was right in time for our first Fast Pass - Spaceship Earth. A big slow moving train through the anals of Civilization, located in the big multi-faceted ball that Epcot is renowned for. Y'know its a fairly simple ride and I've done this it a fair few times now, but this like many others, never ceases to amaze me. If you've ever seen Inside Out, I imagine this whole place to be a core memory and have its own wee island somewhere in the depths of my brain, churning out little orbs of Joy. If you haven't seen Inside Out, then all of what I've just said will sound really really weird, but trust me - go watch it. Good start to the day!
Tumblr media
Hey You Guys!
Next we checked out Test Track but it was down for some unknown reason, so grabbed some coffee and pastries will we waited for the other party (that being, oh wait right we did that already, didn't we?). By the wonders of Whatsapp and Feel at Home from Three (shameless plug), Kev let us know that they'd arrived and we arranged to met them back at the entrance. We'd coordinated our t-shirts today, those being our new Celtic Champions 6-in-a-row tee :) which made it real easy to spot them. On the subject of attire, zipped pockets - how amazing are they? I know I sound like I'm getting old, but they're definitely the way to go if you're on holiday!
Ann really hurt her eye over the course of the morning and it was progressively getting worse as time went on. I suggested that she patch over her eye to give it a rest, however this led me to call her One Eyed Willie, which didnt go down to well, so stopped in fear of my life (or having to walk the plank - right, sorry Ann, that was the last one, promise ;) x )
Next we headed to Ellen's Energy Adventure, a big moving cinema all about th wonders of energy hosted by the hilarious Ellen DeGeneres & Bill Nye, the science guy. Funny as well as factual too, couldnt go wrong.
Now came Test track, a ride where family loyalty went out the window as we went head to head to design the most efficient car. Super fast, fun ride and good to see the competitive spirit from everyone - even Gracie was doing a little trash talking (well she was in my team, otherwise I wouldn't have encouraged it ; ). In the end, we failed to hit top spot, but our car was easily the best looking one out the lot (all designed by my lovely co-pilot Gracie).
Tumblr media
Scores on the doors were as follows:
Ann, Kevin & Pauline - 208 Michael, SJ & Emily- 205 Me, Dad & Grace - 204 Patrick, Robert & Corrie - 156 (who intially claimed 226 - what a bunch 'a chancers!)
All  in all great fun and everyone loved it (especially Gracie who wanted go back on it straight away).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Living With The Land Fast Pass (on the other side of the park) up next, which we made it with 5 minutes to spare. Nice boat ride about farming and such (seriously) with Patrick even enquiring about the Behind The Scenes tour (or Behind The Seeds as they called it) - he just loves learning new things! He also managed to spot 2 hidden Mickeys on the ride (thats disguised Mickey symbols all over the Disney parks) -  so well done PG!
Quick stop at The Circle Of life, a wee environmental film featuring The Lion King's Simba, Timon & Pumba, which began with the song of the same name. That song gives me goosebumps every single time! *shudder*
After that was Soarin', which we had passes for, but everyone wanted to ride so meant we had to split up into two groups, one to watch Isabella while the other went on the ride. While we were waiting to ride (with views of an cool looking India Jones-esque style journey being mapped out on the screen before us), Robert asked the attendant out of the blue if we could get in the first row - good ole Ro! :)
This ride was Epic - its the only word to describe it. Flying through the air, over different landmarks of the world aking in hugs vistas, they even had different smells. Everyone loved it and even my Dad rearked it was the best ride yet as we walked off the ride.
Do you wanna build a snowman?
During the wait and switch-over of groups we came to the decision that the five of us and my mum and dad would head home after the last ride and try getting a proper bite to eat when it was a little quieter, whilst, Pauline, Michael & Co would remain in the park and finish off the remaining rides.
So onward it was to Frozen Ever After, Epcot's newest ride based on the extremely popular Disney movie and set in Norway (well Epcot's mini representation of Norway on their World Showcase). On our way, we bumped into Pluto (the dog, not the planet-oid-y thing), so used the opportunity to grab our first character autograph! Kids were really excited! There was a Disney Photo-pass photographer there too so managed to get some nice groups shots (except for ours, so had to use one of my own photos here as a backup).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The ride was a great little boat trip through the Kingdom of Arendelle with Anna and Elsa (who is my favourite princess without red hair, ok ok, she isnt really a princess, yeah I know, but still). Even the Snow-gies made an appearance! And with the ride came another ride photo from the Memory Maker - excellent! :D The kids loved it and Emily was skipping out of the ride singing Let It Go at the top of her voice! :)
Tumblr media
So we said our goodbyes and left the other party then, who planned to continue their travels around the World Showcase and possibly grab Spaceship Earth, which they missed, on the way out. The World Showcase is an awesome thing, but I think the allure of a hearty meal after a long day was far too tempting for us.
We headed straight to Miller's Alehouse from the park in an attempt to avoid the queues and wait times... which we did! However once we were seated and after a quick scan of the menu - the Snow Crab that Gracie had set her heart on to share with me was no longer on the menu - she was more gutted than me! :( In its place I opted for a nice wee Flat Iron Steak & Coconut Shrimp combo, which was awesome. Grace and Ann chose to share the 35 Shrimp menu item (which was 35 shrimps funnily enough) and Grace inhaled about 18 of them. Man, that girl loves her seafood! The Nacho starter that Ann thought she might need however was an absolute mountain and in the end, defeated all of us (its really big enough for two peeps to share as a main meal if Im being honest). The food and menu options in the place are second to none so were definitely planning a return visit in the next few days with our entire group!
A second trip to Walmart rounded off the day in order that we could take a slightly more relaxed look at what they had to offer. The last time I was here I picked up some amazing Cinnamon Pecan coffee, but alas they appeared to no longer stock it or any equivalent. The boys picked up more trading cards, Grace picked up more Hatchimals and we got a variety of non-essential items including a Star Wars decal for the car, a Pecan pie (obviously I have a thing for Pecans) and some Harley Quinn Comics (and I have a thing for her too ; ). Had a look at the laptops too, which were ridiculously cheap, so toying with the idea of picking one up, but Ill need to do some in-depth investigations first.
Rest day on the cards for tomorrow with shopping planned in the am, so should a relatively quiet one. I'm kinda looking forward to it in all honesty, following the two successful but extremely packed days we've all had.
Ok so bc no one follows me on here
Let me tell you about the boy of my dreams Ok first of all he's a red head which isn't my usual type but I make an exception for him He's between skinny and average sized Has the cutest smile I've ever seen And he's just the right amount taller than me That's what he's like physically but that's not even the best parts of him He's got the kindest heart He's always there to make people smile He's an actor which is big in my family- my siblings act my mom directs & acts He's talented in singing acting dancing and sports and he's very smart He's so goofy and innocent which makes him 20x more attractive He has an adorable dog and His mom is like the sweetest person alive I can't even think of all the reasons I love him rn bc I know there are more. Now let me tell you about our lives His dad and my mom were in a show together a long time ago (they kinda hated each other) but I've known him kind of since we were little. We went to the same church. We weren't besties or anything but we know the other existed We became friends in like 7th grade We were part of a "squad" which was deeeeep Squad lives through 8th grade and a lil bit of 9th grade until most of us ended up hating or at least not being close with the others (I forgot to say that he dated my best friend who I now hate for like a week- they were very awk and everyone laughs at it now.) He wasn't hated or anything like we are still friends squad just doesn't hang out anymore lol. Anyways skip to this year (10th grade) I decided I needed to marry this boy in September. He was in a show that my sister was also in (they are in a theatre company together) In the show there was a song that they had to find someone in the audience to sing to and he found me. I laughed like the whole time bc he is the most adorable thing I've ever seen in my life. I don't think it meant much to him but that was the night I decided I needed him to be my boyfriend After that my crush continued but nothing really happened again until January when my school had this thing called snowcoming (homecoming for basketball) I ran for princess and he ran for prince and we both one which was already crazy bc I am not popular but also crazy bc it meant we got to walk together. So I was very happy about that A little while later I asked him to go to the Sadie Hawkins dance at our school and he said he couldn't bc he already was going with his best friend since birth. I was sad but I was like whatever. So the dance got closer and I didn't have a date and I wanted to go and not by myself. So plot twist I end up going with the exchange student that is living in his house. He's a nice kid and I knew I'd have fun so it was cool... until I showed up at his house the night of the dance and my crush's date had cancelled on him meaning I rode in the backseat of his car by myself with my date and my crush in the front seat... After that I had to chill for a little while. The crush was still there but I had to keep it quiet. Then at the very end of February/ start of April the school had tryouts for our musical which was high school musical. My mom was directing so I tried out even though it was out of my comfort zone and he also tried out. It would be cool to say he was Troy and I was Gabriella but sadly that's not how it worked out 😂 (I was Taylor he was zeke) I just felt honored that I got to look at him almost every day lol The show went on he didn't confess his love for me and I found out that he was taking to a girl from studio he acted at. I was of course quite upset but I got over it. After the last show he came up to me and gave me a hug and told me I did a good job and I melted but played it cool and tried to not think to much of it. After that I kinda calmed down (this was in April) until like a few weeks ago One of my friends told me that my crush had stopped talking to the girl he'd been talking to. We were mini golfing and I think I threw my club I was so happy. I wore a huge stupid smile for the rest of the night. Then skip to Saturday of this past week. I went to the end of the year show the company he (and my sister) were in. It wasn't really a great show but he had a solo and I just liked looking at him. After the show my mom was talking to him and she was like she and I were talking about how I wouldn't mind having you as a son in law and I almost shit my pants when she said that. I thought I was gonna die but he kinda just laughed it off. After that my friend wanted me to go out to eat where the after party was. I absolutely hate that restaurant bc it makes me feel sick but I never get to see that friend so I agreed. We went out and had dinner and it was fine and after paying and whatever I got up to leave and wait at the door for my mom to pick my sister and me up. We had been standing at the door for a couple of minutes when my mom pulled up and we started to walk out. When we were leaving I hear my name and my crush say "wait" so of course I spin right around and look at him and he says thanks for coming to the show and then he gave me a hug. I'm not really sure what I said back bc I was at that moment dead. It was the best night of my life at that point. So I lived off of that for the week and probably my entire life. After that nothing crazy happened but he did tweet me once and I almost peed myself and then I saw him at an open house and he sat next to me bc our families were sitting together talking about next years musical so that was cool. Anyways I hope he marries me and I can show this Tumblr post to everyone at the wedding until then I will just be planning our future together and what not. Idk if he'll ever like me but man am I kinda crazy about him
LETTER TO IVANKA
From a concerned parent just like you
Dear Ivanka,
My name is Isabel Rose and I bet if we played a quick game of Six Degrees of Separation we would discover many mutual acquaintances. This shouldn’t come as a suprise. After all, we are both from prominent New York real estate families, we both attended private all-girls schools and went on to earn degrees from Ivy League colleges, and we both married smart Jewish men and now have young children. And I suspect, from the photos you share on your Instagram feed, that we also share a love of motherhood and would do anything to ensure the happiness and security of our kids.
You recently gave birth to your youngest so your memory is still fresh with the elation you feel holding new life in your arms. I, too, remember that thrill. It seems like only yesterday that my second child was born. My husband and I already had a daughter so we were ecstatic to add a son to our growing brood. We named our child Samuel and took him home from the hospital with hearts filled with anticipation and love.
Samuel liked to play dress up from a very young age. When he was two, his camp counselor sent us photos of him dressed up in princess costumes and a pink bonnet. At three, Samuel’s preschool teacher informed us that he chose a tutu from the dress up bin instead of the doctor’s lab coat or fireman jacket that the other boys favored. By four, Samuel broke out in hives when we tried to cut his hair, and at five he told us, through tears, that he wanted to burn his face off because it wasn’t a girl face. He also tore at his genitalia with such hatred, I had to pin his arms down at his sides. “I’m not supposed to have a penis!” he sobbed night after night. “I’m supposed to have what you have, mommy.”
Ivanka, when I saw that photo you posted recently of you and your five-year old daughter at the Supreme Court, I could tell you would have done exactly what I did next because you are a mother who wants her children to feel empowered. Yes, you, too, would have sought professional help. And I know you would have wept in relief, like I did, when you realized your child wasn’t doomed to a lifetime of misery but was simply transgender.
Just before his sixth birthday, our Samuel became our Sadie, and we watched a butterfly break free from a chrysalis. Naturally, it was not what my husband or I had imagined when we held our infant son in our arms and uttered the phrase, “That’s our boy!” Naturally, we went through a period of adjustment. But we always knew that our priority was our child’s happiness. And that is exactly what we have today: a happy child.
Indeed, our once-miserable son is now our thriving second grade daughter at one of New York City’s top public schools. She wants to be a scientist and a doctor when she grows up so she can figure out how girls like her can become mothers using their own bodies. She takes piano lessons and likes to rock climb and go to museums, loves all the colors and shades of the rainbow, and her favorite flavor ice cream is mint chocolate chip.
What about your children, Ivanka? What do they want to be when they grow up? What do they do after school? What is their favorite flavor ice cream? Who are they beneath the trappings of their anatomy? Are they, like my child, a pure vessel of wonder and potential and love?
I bet they are.
And I bet that if you were me, you would be as proud as I am of my brave Little Miss, who dared to assert her identity in a world that showed her only pink and blue choices in her camp club house, ballerina or fireman costumes in her preschool room, and long hair or short at the hair salon.
And I also bet if you were me, you would be greatly dismayed if you found out that the government chose to rescind protections for transgender students that allow them to use the bathroom corresponding to their gender identity instead of their anatomy. Like me, you would look at your ultra-feminine 8-year-old, standing on the street corner waiting for the school bus, her already-elegant head held high, pink bow quivering in the wind, and you would say to yourself, “What on earth will my little princess do if someone forces her to go to the bathroom with the boys? She’ll be mortified! She’ll be bullied! She’ll be scared.”
Ivanka, put yourself in my Jimmy Choos for a minute. What would you do if you were me?
Because I know exactly what I would do if were you: I would take my father aside and explain that failing to protect innocent children’s right to use the bathroom of their choice is wrong and unfair and un-American. I would point out that removing protections for transgender kids is a distraction from the myriad of other super-pressing issues facing our country. I would also point out that picking a fight with school kids is an act of bullying and gently mention that bullying is uncool, especially when unprovoked. Because your father’s decree is, in fact, completely unprovoked.
Ivanka, there are no documented cases of school children pretending to be transgender so they can ogle other classmates in school bathrooms. On the contrary, transgender children are the victims rather than the perpetrators of cruelty and violence.
In the grand scheme of things, where children choose to relieve themselves during the school day should not be a question: they should go where they feel comfortable. And if the child’s choice makes other students feel uncomfortable, perhaps it is the other students who need to examine their response to differences between people. Is it possible that your father could refocus his educational legislation along the lines of compassion and understanding instead of fostering fear and intolerance?
I am not a lobbyist or business woman trying to sell you something. I’m not being paid by George Soros and I’m not picketing outside the White House hoping to “take you down” with my sign, slogan and bullhorn. I’m just a mother who loves her children, just the same as you love yours.
If you have any questions, or want to sit down with me and meet my two daughters and husband, we’d be more than happy to have you over the next time you’re in NYC. Like you and your family, we also celebrate Shabbat every Friday night. Perhaps we can share a Sabbath meal together.
In the meantime, I truly thank you for taking the time to consider this matter from my perspective.
In good faith,
Isabel Rose
