i barely understand xenogenders how tf do they work

you know how people like doing things that make them feel more Gender. for example a lady growing her hair out because it makes her feel more feminine and like herself and happier. or a trans person who has a complicated identity using multiple terms to refer to themself (nonbinary and trans and butch and lesbian and gay). gender expression is very complicated like that. but usually people tend to latch onto things they connect to and make them happy, and having a xenogender is basically like this. like there's a person who goes oh i like nature. i connect a lot with plants and i want to emulate them as part of my identity. identifying with nature makes me happy. and then they go and get themselves a xenogender that has to do with plants. that's all

and btw since I'm posting a lot of wholesoul content (intended as platonic but still), i do want to make it clear: my analysis of whole as a character is purely within the narrative of the story! while i am aware that behind the metaphors is whole is cj himself, that's never what i'm writing whole as in my work. basically I'm using the internal logic of the fiction (whole as viewed by the characters in the album) rather than the reason for the fiction existing (as a fictionalized version of chonny's mental state), just like i do with all the other characters. it's important to make that distinction when you're dealing with a piece of fiction so heavily based on the creator i think. I'll never use cj as a basis for how I write whole because I find that a little off putting tbh ^^;

Just thinking about in the first reset Icarus when under corruption would always insist that they don’t need to be fixed. That this is how they were and nothing could change that. In the third reset, Icarus generally keeps that same mindset- but theres also that theme of fixing. Of them needing to be fixed because something was wrong with them. Of them needing to be fixed because their eye wasn’t *theirs* and that blood wasn’t theirs and-

And their death- being something fixing them. Fixing- getting rid of- the problem. Because they were a problem, and they were supposed to fix those. Icarus’s whole thing about fixing everything they’ve done just proceeds to extend to themself- thinking they need to be fixed that they’re broken or wrong because something in their head doesn’t seem to be quite right even if you ignore the eye not being theirs.

I just. Care. About Icarus and thinking they need to be fixed in particular.

What type of seal is Selkie!Jason ?

Also I knew that seals could (and would) drown or maul someone but I forgot that they could crush someone.

In my PNW opinion, I like to think Jason is a Harbor seal, but there are literally so many species that would work. The most on-the-nose one would be the Hooded Seal (whos “hood” is red), but have you SEEN baby harp seals??? Adorable. Could steal my tires and I wouldn’t even be mad.

But also ringed seals are black with white patches. And like. Skunk stripe
