Why Shadow And Cream SHOULD Be A Duo

These are mostly Headcanons. They rarely interact, so I’m here to cover all of the things.

My first reason is they'd have the BEST DYNAMIC. Shadow is the mentor and Cream is his student. I know some people like the idea of him influencing her to be more violent, (which can be fun) but I prefer the idea of Cream solving problems in her own way whenever she's on a mission with Shadow. All of the crazy atrocities happening around her doesn't faze her in the slightest. She can be a tough cookie, but still soft on the inside and out. She doesn’t have to change her sweet spirit to be powerful in her own right.

Second reason. They would complement each other in the best way. Shadow could use someone to protect and I know Amy’s a good option, but there’s something about Cream that works better in my opinion. She’s younger, less experienced, brave, encouraging, kind, and ADORABLE. No, she isn’t and shouldn’t be a Maria replacement. I don’t want any character to have a good dynamic with Shadow just because said character reminds him of Maria. BUT Cream does have similar traits to her. More than Amy to an extent. The pink hedgehog is much more aggressive. Shadow would have a unique dynamic with Cream. Why? Because Cream is a literal child he needs to protect her at all costs. But she’s too stubborn to care about her safety. The older Cream gets, the more determined she is to go on adventures with him.

Because she’s so persistent, Shadow would feel obligated to teach Cream Chaos Emerald abilities. She would do terribly at first, but once she finally concentrates and takes her training seriously, she’d ace it.

The third reason I believe they’d be a great duo is because Cream would do her best to help him emotionally. But that’s not all. Shadow would notice how hard she’s trying and how much she struggles with failure. I’d imagine her taking it very badly due to a few issues in IDW and Sonic Dream team. Don’t get me started on the Metal Virus. She had to be the emotional support for Whisper (and the sweetheart did an amazing job) while she still struggled internally. Cream was the truest MVP during the Metal Virus.

But yeah! She’d definitely need someone with more experience with loss to help her with her self-esteem issues. Cream has so little confidence in herself when she shouldn’t. I know she has Sonic, Blaze, Amy, her mother, and many others but I believe Shadow would be the one to turn that emotion into action. He’s been through plenty. He wouldn’t just cheer her up (though he’d probably still try) but give her direct action base proof that she’s wrong with her training. She might not only need to be told she’s cable but also be physically shown.

I’d like to think she’d be able to pull as much weight for Shadow as he’d do for her. The tough love and support system. Like Sonic and Tails but with a Good Cop Bad Cop dynamic.

Cream still has Gemeral/Cheese and of course, they’ve already protected her the best way, but I’d like to think Shadow would be the one to teach her how to physically fight so she’d be able to help Gemeral. Then he wouldn’t have to worry about her too much. It’ll be like a training session. It helps that she’s already physically strong but Shadow would only help her enhance it.

She’d be an honorary member of Team Dark and would sneak into their missions. I’m not sure how Vanilla would feel about it but maybe this would be a situation where she’d find out when Cream’s older. Like a superhero reveal or something. Maybe Vanilla would have a long conversation with Shadow and Cream would stand up for him and take all of the blame. She’s loyal to a fault.

Their friendship also just sounds adorable to me. I can imagine Cream being surprisingly mature and intelligent and Shadow is always shocked. They'd talk about the different planets and stars together, daydreaming about a more peaceful world. Then instantly start kicking butt with Rouge and Omega and take down a giant monster and work with GUN. I think Rouge would question Shadow every time Cream came with them.

Rouge: Ugh! Shadow, why did you bring her here?! AGAIN?!

Shadow: I didn't. She came on her own.

Rouge: And you ALLOWED HER?!

Shadow: You can't say “no” to Cream. I've learned that the hard way.

It’s either letting Cream go with him or dealing with her whining for the rest of their picnic. Shadow isn't patient enough for that.

What kind of fun names would you guys give these two? Good Cop Bad Cop? Emerald Besties? Rebel Do-Gooders? Let’s give them a name!

Your first memory here is... static. Trying to remember it was the same as trying to gather sand in your hands, it just slipped past you. One moment, you were somewhere else, a place of light and strange voices. Then, nothing.

Now, you're here. In a world of blue skies and rolling hills, staring up at a trio of strangers who look at you like you hung the stars in the sky.

"Whoa, little buddy, you okay?" The blue one, Sonic, crouches in front of you, ears twitching forward trying to hear you better. His voice is casual, but hes careful in the way he speaks, like he's trying not to spook you.

Amy, the pink one, is already kneeling beside you, gloved hands hovering like she wants to scoop you up. "They look so lost, Sonic! Poor kid... Where did you come from?"

You tell them your name, one of the onky things you *can* remember, everything else a blur.

"Thats fine Y/N, we'll help you get back to wherever you cane from in no time!"

Tails observes you, he seems to have some sort of device in his hands he keeps looking back at hefore squinting his eyes at you again. "huh, it seems like there was some big burst of energy from where they are!"

Sonic looked back at you reachibg out a hand for you to take"Don't worry, we'll help you figure this out," he declares, as here l helps you up.

Amy beams at you, her enthusiasm palpable.

"You're safe with us now! We'll take care of you," she promises, her voice gentle.

Tails nods in agreement, already brainstorming solutions. "We should head back to my workshop. I have equipment there that might help us understand your situation better."

They guided you through the hills and stretching scenery until they made it to his workshop.

At the workshop, he ran various test, his fascination with your form evident. Sonic and Amy hover nearby, their protective gazes never leaving you.

"You're truly unique," Tails remarks, his eyes gleaming with a mix of admiration and something else you can't quite place.

Days turn into weeks as you adjust to life in this new world. Sonic, Amy, and Tails rarely leave your side, their devotion unwavering. They shower you with attention, always eager to assist you, but their overprotectiveness becomes stifling.

One evening, as you sit by a tranquil lake, Sonic approaches, his usual carefree demeanor replaced with a somber expression.

"Hey, I know this is all new for you," he begins, sitting beside you. "But we care about you, a lot. We just want to keep you safe."

Before you can respond, Amy appears, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears.

"You're like family to us now," she cradled your face. "Please, don't ever think of leaving."

"Seriously." Tails stated, his voice firm.

Their words weigh heavily on you. While their affection is genuine, there's an underlying possessiveness that makes you uneasy. Their love had good intentions, but it was becoming obsessive.

As days pass, their behavior becomes more controlling. They insist on knowing your every move, discouraging you from interacting with others. The once warm and welcoming environment now feels like a gilded cage.

One night, the moon shone overhead, full And bright. You decided eniygh was enough. You need to reclaim your freedom, to find a way back to your world. But escaping their watchful eyes woudn't be easy.

Gathering your resolve, you waited for the right moment, a moment when no one was watching, a moment where they weren't practically smothering you with worry.

But the moment you try to leave, the moment you so much as hint at being anywhere but here.

One of them is already in front of you. Blocking your path.

"Whoa there. Where d'ya think you're goin'?"

Hi everyone, using a throwaway account to make this post because my little brother knows my main and the embarrassment would kill me if he ever saw this. 

So for context, I've known this guy for a while now, at least in the context of my life. I've got a pretty hectic life and I'm a traveler, so I've met a lot of people and he's one of the few that's been able to keep up with me. Our first meeting was during a bit of a stressful time because he kind of inadvertently framed me for thievery (we look kinda alike and the police are stupid, it's not his fault but I was pretty pissed at the time) and got me arrested, so we ended up fighting about it in the middle of the street. I'm used to fighting and pretty good at it, so it was a surprise when he turned out to be basically my equal at it, which is pretty rare even among my other rivals. He got the upper hand on me for long enough that the police were able to arrest me again. I was pretty mad but also impressed. Our second meeting was even more stressful because I had just got out of jail after being arrested for the second time, and I was still angry about it so we fought again. I was about to win but then it turned out we were both in danger along with some friends of mine so we both left as fast as we could. Both of these times I could tell he was taking the fight seriously, but I could also tell he wasn't trying to KILL ME kill me. Y'know?

Anyway, in our next meeting he was definitely trying to kill me. Outright said it to my face. I won that fight thankfully, and I'm not even angry about it because a lot of people have tried to kill me over the years and also he has some kind of goal I was getting in the way of, and he didn't even succeed. He ended up changing his mind about that goal though, and when we next saw each other we were on the same side trying to deal with a mutual threat. 

And it was at that point I kind of realized I was in love. I've never really wanted a relationship because I thought it would get in the way of my lifestyle, but with this guy specifically it wouldn't be a problem. I would have told him about it, but then I thought he died and I didn't see him for a while. I wasn't too broken up about it because we only knew each other for a couple days, but I was still sadder than I thought I would have been.

He ended up coming back to life though, and he had lost his memories for the second time in his life (long story I'm not gonna get into) and he didn't really remember me anymore. I know from a mutual friend of ours that he remembered me well enough to be annoyed by my name, which made me irrationally happy, and I think he did end up getting his memories back, but when we first saw each other he definitely didn't know who I was. We fought again, it was a tie, and then we ended up teaming up to take down a mutual enemy again. 

Things have been a bit less chaotic since then. We've fought a couple more times but nothing serious, he's saved my life, I've saved his, you know how it goes. We haven't really talked about anything that happened, but that's fine because neither of us have ever been much for verbal communication and we understand each other just fine. I've tried getting over my crush on him, but that's never really worked because we see each other a lot due to our lifestyles and we have some mutual friends in common, and I like spending time with him anyways, even if we're just beating each other up most of the time.

Personality wise, he's basically my polar opposite, but we get on pretty well despite that. I think aside from my general attraction to danger and his ability to match me in a fight and a race that might be the main thing that draws me to him. I've got a lot of friends, but never one so different from me and yet so similar. He's just always been special to me.

But the main reason I'm making this post is because despite all we've been through, he still acts like we're enemies at worst and temporary allies at best. We fight almost every time we meet unless something less serious is going on, and he's pretty grumpy and mean to me all the time. I like this about him, but it does make me question if he even sees me as anything more than a rival, and I don't know how to ask him because we don't talk about weird emotional stuff. I also think that asking him directly could maybe lead to another murder attempt, which would be fun, but it's not what I'm looking for anymore. I don't mind all the fighting, but just once I'd like to kiss him on the mouth instead of punching his teeth in, y'know?

Y'know, it occurs to me - Movie!Sonic has a lot more in common Shadow than any other version of Sonic that I know of, and that creates a unique storytelling opportunity that wouldn't have been possible before.

Because originally, Shadow having a dark and traumatic backstory was what separated him from Sonic. Their similarities came out more in their confidence, their playful attitude, and even their withdrawn demeanor (though Shadow's is more extreme). Sonic's genuine ability to be carefree and optimistic was his biggest difference from Shadow.

In the movies, Sonic is... not nearly as put-together. Just like Shadow, his personality is shaped almost entirely from the result of tragedy. Both of them had to watch their closest family member get shot trying to save them from raiders (who were specifically targeting them for their powers) by sending them to Earth. The difference here is that, for Shadow, this event is fresh in his mind, while Sonic's had ten years (give or take) to accept what happened and move on.

Except, there's more, because losing Longclaw is itself not the main thing informing Sonic's character - it's the fact that he spent those next ten years in near-total isolation. Also similarly to Shadow, he took the last words his family said to him very seriously, and she told him to stay hidden no matter what. Combine that with the natural fear of what being found did to Longclaw, and the majority of Sonic's life has been spent hidden away, looking out at the world but unable to participate in it.

Remind you of anyone?

(I swear if the movie doesn't make a point about this parallel specifically I'm gonna lose it)

Normally, Sonic is a silly and upbeat character because that's just how he is by nature, and the feelings he keeps to himself are rarely detrimental to his health. In the movie universe, Sonic is silly and upbeat because he needed to be that way in order for his life to be bearable.

His constant chatter isn't quirky for the sake of it, it's a habit he developed out of necessity because there was no one else to talk to. He compulsively needs to fill the silence because not doing that would only reinforce how alone he was, and it's something he can't shake off even when he's not by himself anymore. His primary method of handling his feelings is to ignore them until they literally explode out of him with lightning firing everywhere.

All of this to say, a Shadow meant to be a foil to this Sonic is going to look very different from the Shadow we're used to. From what little about the movie's events have been described as of writing this, I'm inferring that Shadow's actually going to be a lot more open about his motivations for revenge than he was in the game, and that puts Sonic in the very interesting position of being more closed-off than Shadow.

Because sure, he might try to connect with Shadow's pain like he did with Knuckles. But because Sonic and Knuckles's history was so directly connected, they didn't really have to... talk that much about it. Sonic could acknowledge that they both lost their families a long time ago without having to go into detail about it or the aftermath. And because it had been so long since it happened, it was a lot easier for them to put it behind them and move on.

Shadow can't do that, because for him, Maria was lost very recently. He's not going to accept "you can move on and find new people to care about" as an option, and Sonic can't very well tell him to just ignore it like he did, either. Shadow isn't going to do the whole repression shtick.

For the first time, getting through to Shadow may just depend on Sonic being able to acknowledge his own pain, first. After all, how's Shadow supposed to interpret Sonic, if not as some random guy with a perfectly happy family and an obnoxiously happy attitude telling him that he needs to just, get over what happened to him? How can that come across as anything but naive and shallow without understanding how much Sonic suffered to get to this point?

(It's still a little naive and shallow even with that in mind, but the reason for that isn't because he has no perspective on what experiencing a violent tragedy is like - it's because his only known way of handling it is to leave it in the past and Not Think About It)

Though I do wonder if there's room for Sonic to initially clam up on his emotions even more after meeting Shadow for a bit? Like, he learns to some extent what happened, and is like "aw jeez if this is what could happen if I let myself be more upset about my lot in life then I REALLY need to reign it in" which is the exact opposite lesson he needs to learn but would be really interesting to watch

Point being, I think Sonic and Shadow are being set up as even more like mirrors to each other than usual, and I can't wait to see what they do with that potential

"I think I like Shadow." You blurted out suddenly, Sonic slowly turned his head around and gave you a very concerned look. You two were hanging out, watching a shitty movie, one of those that are so bad they're good. This was something you had to get out of your chest, to try at least to check if it's actually real and not your brain confusing love for having someone just treating you decently.

"Why would you do that to yourself?" His tone showed genuine worry, he hadn't moved a bit, his body was in shock, but his face wasn't, and his hand was still in the air right about to eat a chip.

"I don't know…" You now hang your head low, trying to make sense of your life choices, this one by far was one of your more questionable ones, which isn't a lot if you think about it, don't think about it, you're already dealing with something too serious for your heart. The blue hedgehog slowly nodded, his body relaxing a little, seeing his shoulder slack down and his hand retrieved back to the chip bowl.

"Ok… What do you like about him?" He tapped around the topic, he deserved some kind of explanation after that bomb of a statement. There was a part of him that wanted to support you, but it seemed that you didn't even support yourself. Shadow was a complicated person in general, even to befriend, he had a lot of first-hand experience in that.

"Ummm… His personality?" That came out way more in a questioning way than a statement, did you seriously like this guy? He is attractive indeed, but that's just an objective fact, not much of an opinion, but is he enough to make you like him in that way? I mean, sure, you had dreamt of him way too many times, but that's normal, totally platonic, you never kissed him in those dreams, ok, you did fuck that one time, but it doesn't even count.

"Which one? Depressed emotionally unavailable guy?" Your statements did not stop surprising him, it felt like he was chained to the ocean and tortured by feeling the waves hit him with brute force.

"Yeah, I guess…" He is sweet in his way, he just has a hard time expressing his emotions. And it's really interesting when he has those moments of talking, he knows a lot about the things he loves. He also gifts you useful things, like vitamins and a spare gun, and he takes the time to teach you how to use it correctly.

"Dude…" You stayed in an awkward silence, him staring at you as if you grew a head out of your toe. He was a hopeful guy, but maybe you weren't part of that hope. He doesn't even know if Shadow even considers him his friend, he will break your heart.

"What? I think I do, like really do. Should I confess?" You gave him a tight-set smile, clearly uncomfortable and scared of that idea. He was unpredictable, and you didn't want him to hate you or be disgusted by you, you are well aware feelings are not his forte, but you don't want to lie to him either, you don't know if you can now that you're aware of this. Sonic's eyebrows dropped and shook his head, no, it was a bad idea.

"I can be your wingman-"

"No." You cut him off, if confessing was bad, having him put you together was ten times worse. You were doomed, you fucked up, you did the only thing you were not supposed to. The moment he saw you panicking internally, he grabbed your shoulder and made you look at him.

"Stop, you're going to be the cutest couple ever, I will make that happen, even if it costs my life." His eyes were determined, they had that characteristic fire he had when battling, it made you calm down, and he always got his way, for better or worse. You gently nodded your head, making the executive decision to put your future love life in his hand. Maybe it was another of your questionable decisions, but you didn't want to deal with that.

Either way, if this goes bad, you can always blame it on Sonic being Sonic

Sonic 4 Scene Idea

Hey all! Just had the thought that maybe the opening scene of Sonic 4 could go something like this:

(Start scene)

Sonic: Who are you?!

Amy: Oh my gosh it’s you! It’s really you!

Sonic: Um… I noticed?

Amy: I’ve heard so much about you, Sonic the Hedgehog! And to think that I’m here and you’re here and you’re not dead…

Sonic: Sorry, who are you?

Amy: Oh sorry, I can get a bit ahead of myself.

(Amy takes off her cloak to reveal her in her pretty red dress. Sonic freezes, never having encountered a girl hedgehog before. Especially not one this pretty.)

Amy: I’m Amy Rose, it’s an honor to meet you, Sonic the Hedgehog!

Sonic: uh… um… *clears throat* nice to… meet you too… but how do you know me?

Amy: Well, where I come from, everyone knows about you! You were a legend!

Sonic: Yeah that sounds about right… wait, WERE?!

Amy: (Looks down sadly) Yeah… in the Great Battle with Mephiles, you… you never made it out. He was too powerful and devastated the world.

(Sonic looks like he’s seen a ghost and steps back, looking at his hands in horror.)

Sonic: I… die?

Amy: *tries to comfort him* But never fear, Amy Rose is here! I found you, didn’t I? And we won’t let it happen again.

Sonic: Yeah about that… how did you find me? If you’re from the future where I’m… you know… dead… then how did you know how to find me?

Amy: Well, you weren’t the first hedgehog I ran into.

(Amy steps to the side, and Shadow emerges from behind a tree.)

Sonic: SHADOW?!

Shadow: Greetings, Faker.

Sonic: Shadow!

(Sonic runs over and nearly knocks Shadow over with a hug)

Shadow: Woah woah, what was that for?

Sonic: I thought you were dead! I was so worried!

Shadow: *cocks his head* Why?

Sonic: You’re my friend, of course I care!

Shadow: Friend…

Amy: Yeah, I kinda thought he was you.

Shadow: This pink hammer-wielder ran up and tried to attack me.

Amy: I wasn’t trying to attack you! A hug is not an attack!

Shadow: You wrapped your arms around me and pinned my arms to my sides. How is that not an attack?

Amy: Okay that is seriously sad.

Sonic: Don’t worry… Amy… once everyone else sees that Shadow survived and he gets welcomed into the Wachowski family he’s gonna get all the affection he deserves! *Gasps* Oh my gosh we could be twins!

Shadow: No. Not gonna happen.

Sonic: Yes yes yes we could get matching beds and… and oh my gosh you even reawakened on my B-earth day, so we basically share it! We’re twinsies!

Shadow: The more you say the word ‘twin’ the harder I want to hit you.

Sonic: Like a true twin would!

Shadow: You little—

Amy: Guys, guys! We can work this out AFTER we save the world, got it?

Sonic: Yeah, I guess you’re right. We gotta stop that cosplaying tin can and his noobs first.

Amy: You mean Metal Sonic?

Sonic: NOW THAT’S JUST PLAGIARISM!!

Shadow: Who would want to imitate this faker?

Amy: He was a cyborg created by Dr. Robotnik…

Sonic/Shadow: EGGMAN?!?

Sonic: He survived?

Shadow: No one could’ve survived that explosion!

Sonic: The guy’s like a cockroach!

Amy: At least in my timeline, yes. He was alive and well until Mephiles claimed the Flames of Disaster.

Sonic: Wait wait… the Flames of Disaster?

Amy: Yes…?

Sonic: *Looks like he’s gonna be sick* How did Mephiles get the Flames of Disaster?

Amy: Well, Iblis was once sealed inside a vessel, a living being strong enough to never cry. But when a tragedy finally broke the spirit of this vessel the flames were released and set the world into the apocalypse.

Sonic: Knuckles!! We have to go!

Shadow: The echidna?

Sonic: Yes! He’s in danger!

(End scene)

Aaaaand, there you have it! Please don’t mind my rambling, but if you made it to the end of this you’re probably a nerd like me and dont mind lol. Also I had the thought that maybe in the movies they’ll have Knuckles replace Elise in the events of 06, since it showed him getting the Flames of Disaster, and everyone knows that Knuckles is not one to cry. Buuuuuut…. What is Knuckle’s deepest passion? Ding-a-Ling! Honor and family. So if one of his brothers—say maybe Sonic for example—was brutally killed in front of his eyes while he was helpless to stop it, chances are he would finally break *sobs*. Also, maybe Amy and Metal could be from the same future as Silver, Blaze and Mephiles, since I’ve heard there will be multi-verse and time-travel elements in Sonic 4.

Also idk if Jim Carrey will come back as Eggman, but I really hope he does! I don’t really think Metal can carry an entire movie as the villain like Eggman can, or maybe they’ll have Stone take Robotnik’s place. We’ll see! The movies haven’t disappointed me yet, so I doubt they will with such an excellent cast and crew.

TEAM, WHAT ARE YOU DOING? AAAAAAAA. AAAAAAAAA.

Alright, I do have to wrap this review so I'll keep this quick. Without a doubt, we are entering into an arc starring Karen and Mario which can easily be connected to the "We Must Kill Mario" and "The Fight of All Time" episodes. As for the antagonist, we have a couple of choices:

The secret organization—they have been a big turning point in Karen's life and they keep bothering her with jobs she doesn't want to do

Marty—we do still have a hit on him and he still has a grudge against Mario

The father of Karen's kids—Karen mentioned it once in the last episode she starred in and may be associated with the organization itself

or an entirely new villain we don't know about

It can't be Mr Puzzles since (1) he's still in prison, (2) it's too early for that, (3) he doesn't have a personal grudge against Karen. And for those who say it's Shadow Man being part of the organization, I'm going to quote from Anaidon here:

Shadow Man is not canon in the SMG4 universe, and is merely an OC Anaidon puts it in the assigned scenes as an easter egg for fans to find. Ofc there is a chance that the Team could propose their OCs/AUs for future storylines (they are pretty cool). But at this time, after all the planning they've done, it just wouldn't be possible. Side note: if the Team's going to introduce a new villain, they plan several episodes for us to get to know the character before an arc actually happens.

What about Niles? We technically didn't meet him until the Revelations Arc. Or even Wren?

Niles wasn't entirely new, he stemmed from the Genesis arc so we as the audience can keep up with what we already knew. With Wren, we've seen him before WS, whenever Meggy retells it. And, knowing Meggy as a character, we knew Wren was a big influence on her. Now, the argument can be said with Mr Puzzles for him not appearing until the IGBP movie (episode-wise). But even then, he actually appeared until the end of WOTFI 2023 and was the mastermind working behind the scenes. His small appearances ARE his build-up to what his character was like.

When we're dealing with an arc, we have to have our main cast. Karen and Mario, obviously, and for the conflict to make sense, the antagonist has to be related to the two. But I never said there only had to be one antagonist. We could have more than one.

As for Mario, we might have to determine which side he's on. Mario accepted the mission given by whoever talked through the walkie-talkie. Accepted it, with a serious tone. It could be that he was threatened or offered a deal he can't refuse.

Well, here's my mini-theory (yes, cue the intro): when the sounds of the walkie-talkie were going off, it reminded me a lot of the static/standing-by noise Mr Puzzles done before, luring the Crew into the basement "No TV Make Mario Not Okie Dokie" and Mario in "Incredible Game Show Spectacular". Like it was hypnotic. If you really think about it, it's really symbolic at the end of the PV movie, Puzzles making the same noise at his defeat (representing the mind control over the Crew) and 4 smashing his head to stop said noise (representing their freedom). But AGAIN, not saying Puzzles is back for this arc. But I think the walkie-talkie noise was a tool to hypnotize whoever found it in the trash, which happened to be Mario of all people. That's why I'm leaning toward the organization or Marty being the ones behind it. Both of them keep a close eye on Karen and Mario that they have a chance to plant it there. And let's go back to the "We Must Kill Mario" episode, where the first thing we see Mario is when he charges toward the trash bin for a wizard outfit. This isn't the first time either when in "Trash Friends", Mario hides in the dump and is willing to eat trash-made spoiled spaghetti for his own purposes. If anyone would be able to catch on to this, it would be these two antagonists, to hypnotize Mario.

...sigh. Really, Ben? You really are a menace, my god. Well, too bad I'm bilingual. Anyway, this has been an amazing episode with Karen and the kids. Everything from the voice acting to the animation to the script, oh boy. Team, you really did it. It really hit close to home, such a good story touching a bit of reality there. Like I said time to time again, love is a powerful force that helped the Crew overcome numerous obstacles. Even if it came to a cost, these characters always prevailed.

People have been saying that Karen ended up having no actual consequences by the end of the episode, but honestly, I want this ending. Some people are at risk of losing their homes or who already did. Some parents who suffered a terrible childhood do not want to pass it on to their kids. Some don't get the happy ending Karen and her kids did, but it's one wished for. For Karen, a character who we see working at multiple jobs and caring for her kids, let her have this. This show isn't meant to be realistic in the first place, but it does bring in real topics, and having these characters triumph over their hardships, sparks hope for the people also struggling with it.

If they can, you can too.

Absolutely you can

Starting off of course Knuckles is an absolute TOTAL momma’s boy. I imagine his biological mother died before he hatched from his egg so it was just him and his father. He loved his father very much but hearing the stories of his mother from him and other tribe members made him wonder about her a lot and long for a relationship with her. He longed for motherly love. Once with the Wachowski’s he bonds fastest (excluding his brothers) with Maddie. It’s second nature to her at this point to watch out for Sonic and that is quickly extended towards her new boys. I imagine she spends the most time with Knuckles out of her and Tom. She already has the habit of doing yoga on the deck early in the morning and Knuckles would be an early riser too and enjoy the fresh air. As days go by she asks if he’d like to learn something yoga stretches since it’d help his body stay flexible and is a great warm up exercise. That’d get him interested in it for sure. After that I think he’d hang around her a lot and be first to volunteer when she needs help doing anything whether it’s lifting furniture to vacuum or going grocery shopping he is right there. He absolutely preens when she tells him he’s doing a good job. Also love the headcanon of them having matching rings on their dreads so yes that too. I could go on about them even more but I must devote time to the others in this post 😂

For Tom I feel like he’d be weary of him but after watching him and Sonic interact that doesn’t last long, especially since he is no physical threat to a warrior like Knuckles. I feel like he’d really come to respect Tom as head of their family/tribe (not as much as Maddie but he’s biased). Tom and him would definitely have a good time fishing together. Love the idea of Tom teaching him how to fish with a fishing rod and Knuckles returning the favor by trying to teach him how to fish with his bare hands or a spear whittled from a stick. Them both enjoying whittling is another fun thing for them to bond over. Just them having fun in the out doors together and Knuckles so proud to bring home a meal to their family that they hunted themselves. I can see Tom taking each of the boys out on patrol with him from time to time and Knuckles having a blast even as he takes it very seriously despite the things they deal being like walking an old lady or a family of ducks across the street, getting a cat down from a tree, and silly stuff like that. It makes him feel good to help the town and it teaches him how to be more careful with his strength, plus it gets the town used to him too

He and tails get along super well. He loves tossing Tails around and Tails loves it too. I like to think that even if he doesn’t understand much of the technicalities of what he’s talking about he’s a very good listener and makes the perfect “rubber duck” for Tails to talk out his projects with. In return Tails absolutely hangs onto his every word when Knuckles tells stories of his adventures across the galaxy. Knuckles takes his responsibility towards his little brothers so seriously and especially so with Tails. He’s so protective of him but also determined to make sure Tails can defend himself as well. His gadgets do a good job with that but he must know how to fight without them too. He 100% makes sure to praise every single one of Tails’ victories (especially if it’s against Sonic so he can dunk on Sonic) and give him constructive criticism to get even better. I also imagine that Tails helps Knuckles with his reading, math, and science skills when they start doing home schooling

Lastly Sonic! Sonic and Knuckles for sure have a classic oldest vs middle sibling rivalry. They rib at each other all the time and tussle and fight. At the same time they definitely have the best understanding of each other with their shared pasts. I can imagine them having a lot of late night talks together and talking about their lives before being with the Wachowski’s, also them bittersweetly reminiscing on before the battle between Longclaw and the Echidnas. I feel like that would make them really connect to each other, seeing two sides of the same events and humanizing who was once there enemies

An Observant and Kind Movie Shadow

In a recent exclusive clip from Paramount, a scene from the Sonic Movie 3 featuring Shadow against Team Sonic shows that Shadow is not only intelligent, but also very observant and kind in his own way.

Already in the beginning of the clip, instead of wishing to fight Sonic, Tails and Knuckles immediately, he simply stood in front of them and tried to understand who they were by questioning back why Sonic looks like himself. This, along with Sonic, Tails and Knuckles' confusion on how Shadow looks like Sonic can tell us several things:

Sonic never met another hedgehog until Shadow

Knuckles could be implying that even though he traveled the universe, he never saw another hedgehog or a hedgehog that looks like Sonic

Shadow never saw creatures like himself since he called them a colorful bunch and was most likely expecting to see more humans come after him

Shadow questioning things shows that he is willing to learn or understand things, which is a sign of intelligence

Afterwards, when Sonic once again questions who Shadow is and asks why he looks like himself, Shadow saw this as Sonic being a child or someone who he can't get answers from, to which he states that continuing the conversation would be a waste of time. Already from that exchange, Shadow knew that talking to Sonic wouldn't amount to much since he didn't seem to be someone who would take things seriously. This already shows part of Shadow's observant abilities along with his knowledge of understanding individuals. This can also tell us that Shadow is not one to waste time and only wishes to do things that are necessary or needed. This can especially be seen later when Shadow only fights Sonic, Tails and Knuckles because it was necessary to defend himself.

After stating it would be a waste of time, Shadow gives Sonic, Tails and Knuckles an opportunity to walk away before getting hurt. Unlike Knuckles who fights headstrong immediately, Shadow gave them a chance so that they wouldn't get hurt because he knows that he is capable and strong. This can be seen as a sort of compassion from Shadow and it shows that unlike Knuckles, he isn't looking to fight all the time, especially with those who look to be clueless or child-like.

Seeing that Shadow was willing to fight back if provoked, Sonic tries to calm the situation down and states that he doesn't want to fight. But the misstep he does is show that he is looking to be hostile towards Shadow by taking out a device that looks to be a restraining contraption. Sonic then goes on to state that he wants Shadow to come down and talk to them, but Shadow refuses to while saying that since they jumped out of a G.U.N. helicopter, there is nothing to talk about. At this point, Shadow turns away to walk away from them and decides not to fight them. This scene shows us that Shadow is not a blood-thirsty individual despite causing destruction because he only fights when provoked or when necessary. He shows this especially when Knuckles tries to fight him while his back is turned. Only when Knuckles went to fight him did Shadow fight back viciously. We can also get several things from this scene, such as:

Shadow was observant in watching Sonic, Tails and Knuckles, even before they went to talk to him. He did this by observing where they came from, which in this case, was a G.U.N. helicopter.

Shadow was intelligent and observant in not going to where Sonic was because he knew from Sonic's device and the helicopter they came from, that they were most likely there to re-capture him or similar for G.U.N. therefore, he decides to walk away without getting close or without talking to them casually

Shadow showed to have animosity towards G.U.N. by putting emphasis on their name when telling Sonic that there's nothing to talk about since they came from a G.U.N. helicopter. This also tells us that Shadow was trying to emphasize to Sonic that he doesn't trust G.U.N., which can also be seen as Shadow giving a hint to Sonic why he doesn't wish to talk or trust him, which can also be seen as him being compassionate in some manner by giving them a hint to understand why he is acting the way he is.

Shadow didn't see Sonic, Tails and Knuckles as a threat since he was willing to turn his back on them

Despite knowing where they came from, Shadow was still willing to let the team go if they didn't bother him. This shows that he was willing to leave people who don't attack him alone.

After Shadow kicks Knuckles to the ground, as Sonic and Tails goes to aid Knuckles, Shadow simply stood in front of them and stared/waited. This tells us that even after Knuckles attacked him and he fought back, he was still willing to give them a chance to walk away. At this point, he continued to observe them as they picked Knuckles up from the ground with effort. Them having a hard time picking Knuckles up and Shadow being able to easily kick Knuckles around also shows how strong and powerful he is compared to them. Though he breaths heavily after kicking Knuckles around, he stands firm to show no weaknesses as he displays his strength. This can also tell us that Shadow is good at putting up a front, much like how he is making himself look menacing despite him being kind in giving the team several chances to walk away. It was only when Sonic stated that he can't take them all on at once that Shadow attacked all of them. Shadow waited and listened to Sonic's words to see whether they will attack him again or not before attacking all of them. This shows that he was listening to Sonic and only attacked Sonic and Tails too when he stated that all of them would attack.

Even at the end when Shadow slammed Sonic into the ground and Sonic tried to get up, instead of attacking him again, Shadow again walked away from Sonic while he watched him fall back down and called him a "Weakling." While taking his other behaviors into account, Shadow could have been saying this to state that Sonic and the rest are no match for him so that they stop trying to attack him and finally leave him alone. So even after hurting them and showing his power, he still was giving them a chance to walk away with the least amount of injuries possible. This once again, shows Shadow being compassionate in his own way. Him watching Sonic fall back down also shows that he is keeping an eye on Sonic to make sure that he can't get up, bother him or follow him.

Wukong quickly went to find the potential threat in the woods they were in, but what he wasn't expecting was to see a very light purple monkey. When Wukong found you he had to fight a blush and demanded an explanation as to why you attacked them, until you told him that you were just singing. Making his jaw dropped on the floor, that just raised further questions!😲

(NR Wukong) Ohhhhhhhhhh he spotted a pretty Russian monkey at a underground block rave. Your big booming voice literally shaking the stadium as you sung on stage and what's shocking your microphone wasn't even on. After the concert rave Wukong wasted no time coming over to introduce and flirt a little with you and even got little Ole you to blush, and thus the beginning of your relationships with him.😘

(HIB Wukong) Your silence make him wonder what's going on in that little head of yours, you would just sit next to him and watch over the family. You do love him and his children, making it your business to keep an close eye on Luier and Silly girl. Until some demons bandits attack their village and aim to take Luier away, before Wukong and do anything you got infront of them, turned on your microphone and sang your heart out. Which would be weird until you sent a large group of demons flying with just your voice, not to mention Breaking the sound barrier. Hence why Wukong avoids Arguing or disagreeing with you in fear you would get upset and blow his ears out😬😬😬.

(Netflix Wukong) He didn't think too much of you, not in a bad way, but you were just very quiet. You would often just sit on the sidelines as you watched Wukong act like a fool and battle other demons. One day, you had been watching him train until a group of demons came to provoke and taunt him, which Wukong was rightfully pissed but then suddenly the group was practically sent to orbit by a sonic boom. It would be fairly easy for him to kidnap you to begin with, simply swooshing in, grabbing you, and leaving before you could even comprehend your feet leaving the ground.

Escape attempts are futile, you'll think you finally got away after running for so long, only for him to swoop in and take you back.

Nothing worked, and you were still trapped being kept safe by him

After some time you get tired, tired of this, tired of being there, and you just cant bring yourself to try and run away anymore, you just can't

Being alone with no physical contact is what drive most, if not all people, insane.

Most people in isolation tend to jump on any opportunity to have someone, anyone, be with them.

Bonds can form quite easily, especially when the mind is craving affection, attention, validation etc, etc.

And you already know sonic, hes a hero, i mean hes not that bad right? You loved hanging out woth sonic, why did it stop?

I mean, now that your talking more, he really just wants to protect you, thats sweet right? I mean now that you think, he is so caring to you, shiwing affection, buying your favorite foods, hell he didnt wven hit you or get seriously angry when you were trying to run away.

Soon you start warming up yo him more, laughing with him, seeking his comfort, even missing him when hes not there.

Sure this might not be love, but it feels close enough

Sonic is ecstatic when you finally stop shrinking away feom his touch, when you finally lean into it.

He loves you after all and to see you finally understand makes him so exited.

You start dreading when he leaves, start missing him, and becoming more clingy when hes around.

I need to talk about this moment from Shadow Generations because this broke me beyond comprehension in the best way possible.

(SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!)

Shadow smiling, like giving an actual genuine smile and not a cocky smirk, got to me. This mother fucker has been through hell, he was so down on himself on the ark because he was made to cure Maria yet he couldn't. G.U.N came in and killed someone he loved and it drove his creator mad, making him alter his memories so that they would wake up angry and bitter… and i bet it didn't even take that much manipulation to piss off Shadow either… just a few tweaks to his memory… Shadow then finally remembered Maria's true wish thanks to the help of a pink hedgehog. He had to face his prototype, a ghost from the past... Shadow briefly died after saving the world with the help of Sonic, he then contemplated if he was an android or not, finds out he is part alien, spends 06 trying to prove that's he's gotten over Maria and stop Satan himself, and then finally... he got to the chance to see his family one more time and....

I think this game fully cemented that Shadow is my favourite character in the entire Sonic series. He always allured me as a kid, with his black and red colour scheme, his demeanour, his voice, the way he skated around and the way his quills looked...

He smiles. He smiles because he gets to see Maria and tell directly to her face, "I'm gonna keep fighting for you. I'm gonna protect the world you love." And he finally got the closure that he needed BADLY!

In Shadow 05, he wanted to say goodbye to his past self because thinking about the past and Maria probably gave him so much grief and pain... But now? He changes his mind, he wants to fight for the good that Maria stood for, instead of saying "naw fuck her." While also acknowledging that he can be more than just Maria's wish and fulfil his endless potential as said by his creator/father Gerald. Plus, growth is not linear, seeing Maria and Gerald must have been seriously shocking to him and revert some of that growth from Shadow 05 and Sonic 06…

Shadow has always interested me and it wasn't until recently where I not only replayed Sonic Adventure 2 with a retranslated mod but also Heroes, 06 and Shadow Generations that I've come to truly love and respect this character.

Shadow is surprisingly so fucking well written and the way his story and arc were explored in Sonic Adventure 2 was insanely well done. Even the music was muffled and confusing, just like his memory and his anger. THE MUSIC REFLECTED WHAT HE WAS FEELING AND THINKING!!! THEY PUT IN THAT EXTRA EFFORT IN HIS FIRST APPEARANCE!!!

Not everything they've done with this character after Sonic Adventure 2 was perfect, but some of the stuff they did felt like they gave the character justice.

I am so proud of Sonic Team and what they've done for Shadow Generations. Good on you guys... you've made a game that has emotionally affected a lot of people. I'm proud of you...

Hi! I was the anon who sent you that message about the movie (idk why I put anon last night I goofed fr!) but THANK YOU AAAA you're absolutely reading my mind.

Sonic has almost always been the victim of weird critics. I think it's totally fine for people to enjoy the filmverse for what it is (I know I'm def hyped for Shadow, simply because he looks great!), but we can 100% enjoy what the franchise puts out while also being critical where it needs to be. ESPECIALLY in a movie that is inspired by the game that introduced us to concepts of propaganda, "authority as cruelty", etc. as children. So many younger people now could have gotten a taste of that from the movies, but... they just didn't do it. Maybe the third movie can fix some of that cracked foundation, but what came before is just... ugh. (The thing in the Knuckles show is a meme in my friend group because what the actual hell LMFAO)

Also the "enjoy the boys and stop complaining about the girls" is diabolical. Have we forgotten how much the women in Shadow's life have influenced him? Of course Maria is in the movie, as she will inspire him forever. But Amy? Who reminded him of Maria's wish? Rouge? Who has seen Shadow at his worst and will continue to be at his side no matter what? Like maybe I've just overanalyzed Shadow too much, but it's always felt so endearing to me how moved he's been by the positive lady-influences in his life. This isn't even going into what Rouge and Amy bring to the table on their own, like... gosh. It's not SA2 without them, and again I KNOW the movies are their own thing, but... what's the point? Ugh. UGH.

I got a few funny scenarios I just want you to read:

Omega comes home one day to Shadow standing on top of Rouge's shoulders, trying to change a lightbulb.

Rouge somehow manages to swipe Chip's ring from Sonic. The blue blur is pissed.

Shadow asking literally anyone and everyone to take him on a carnival ride because he's just slightly too short to go alone.

Omega gets stuck in the rafters. Nobody knows what happened.

It's Amy who says yes, and she does so immediately. Frankly he should have asked her first- she loves roller coasters!

Cue Commander Tower absolutely begging Omega not to just destroy the rafters because seriously, that's a vital structural support for the building, and this year's budget did not include a dumbass robot trying to win a bet.
