so, i see all these aus where danny gets help from the justice league for the anti ecto acts, and they're great. but hear me out. ghost king danny. classic setup, acts need to be repealed or war.

so danny goes to the league, of course.

the league of assassins.

Ra's is already familiar with death, and ghosts, and the realms. ya man's had the lazarus pits for centuries, he knows a little bit of what's what. maybe there's already some trade relations going on. more importantly, he has a massive group of hyper competent people who can pull strings in the government very stealthily, and have no outside affiliation or loyalty to that government.

but why not the JL? most of them are based in the USA. they work with the government (danny assumes). surely they are aware of the Acts. surely they would conform to them, enforce them.

so ghost king danny meets with ra's, who gives rancid vibes, but is able to, and wants to, do a smear campaign against the JL. against the USA. to gain favor with the guy who is the king of his most sacred resource, and knowledge about how to use the Pits to gain some basic liminal powers.

danny doesn't like the solution, exactly. but he's king. and this is what will protect his people. this is what will get expedient results. this is what his advisors who will still permit peace will allow.

so danny takes the deal with Ra's.

the initial outrage begins online, perhaps through MikMok. a mega famous influencer is cosplaying as superman, doing a twerking sort of dance to the most current haha funni meme song. the text overlay reads: when the superheroes condone genocide because they aren't human, ANTI-ECTO ACTS (whatever law/section code they were passed in).

it goes viral. and then someone finds the Acts (prodded along by the League) and it goes from a hit sensation online to every. single. news outlet flooding with information (puppeted by the League).

is this real? the Acts are real. but why? if these people(?) don't exist, why the Acts? the outrage. the mass confusion. the conspiracies. the new subgeddits and trending xitter tags. 4kun greentext be me: a ghost, becomes the new thing.

at this point, the GIW are scrambling to keep their involvment on the downlow. there are acts, sure, but they're not enforced :DDDD

vlad is in a similar situation. he cloned a guy. he def experimented on other ghosts to get to that level of knowledge. naturally, this is about when lex luthor gets involved. because, wouldn't you know it, but project CADMUS? yeah. that was a collab with DalvCo. they both wanted non-human clones from green stuff. they got it, and now luthor's sitting on some unpretty information.

he promptly shoves vlad under the bus, which is rapidly becoming less of a bus and more a trainwreck.

the league is surprised this happened, but goes with it.

the US governemnt is still trying to deny, deny, deny.

it's at this point that the JL gets themselves together. they don't know if the papers by Drs fenton are biased, or if ecto entities really are mindless creatures bent on destruction.

constantine says they're biased. green lantern concurs.

they decide to summon an ecto entity and find out what is going on.

danny is pretty stressed. it's a stressful situation. he's on break for the first time since they got a solution to this problem. he's not gonna answer a summoning. he has people to do that for him.

so they don't get the ghost king.

but they do get-

dani. and jazz. at the same time.

maximum possible psychic damage.

in the room at the watchtower is the big 3, green lantern, martian manhunter, flash, constantine, zatanna, raven, and black canary (legends of tomorrow experience? cool headed? there for arrow who is busy?).

dani doesn't like superman. he treats clones badly. jazz doesn't like batman, see Arkham.

dani doesn't know who c, z, raven, or bc are. jazz kinda knows of them, but not well.

so the actual negotiations go down with WW and MM.

they have a lot of questions. dani (abomination form) introduces jazz (basic looking human) as a princess of the realms. jazz says that the Acts are real, the realms want war, go suck a creamsickle (that was dani), they want restitution for the lives lost from the GIW.

then they leave the JL wondering who the GIW are.

someone (LoA) manages to hack the watchtower and post the meeting online as soon as it happens. or maybe they livestreamed it on Switch.

my spamblr, the result of my space buying tumblr in 1999, gains its first sexy women (jazz). jazz/WW fiction springs up on AOL3 overnight.

the GIW goes public. they try to push the envelop of ghosts being non-sentient. they try to use jazz being ambassador for that meeting to help their case. the JL is fighting accuations, but they are being pidgeon holed into siding with the GIW by the media.

it's at this point that things go from trainwreck to airplane runway crash.

dalvco and luthor are in a lawsuit. the usgov is under pressure from everyone. people are calling for impeachment of the president. the GIW is getting raided and having their evil posted online. the drs fentons are absent (in the ghost zone, either being evil or having mimosas with pandora). ra's is trying to use new knowledge of the Pits to reanimate tim's spleen. the JL is under constant fire. everyone who has ever had a malicious opinion about super or meta control is getting new platforms. danny can't use his intimate knowledge of what's going on to write his essays for school.

the world is galvanized. there are calls to action. liminals of Amity Prak come forward. you could be liminal too! the Acts get repealed. the GIW gets cleaned out, all prisoners rescued. the realms get restituition. the meta protection acts get expanded.

people will learn about phantom, the superhero. the dead boy who saved them all when the JL didn't answer amity's calls. the JL comes under more fire. they lose funding, defund the police style. for maximum chaos, this can be when the miraculous ladybug crossover starts.

phantom gets a bajillion features on true crime podcasts. tucker keeps sending links to the episodes to them. sam will never admit it, but she listens to them.

but things will never, ever be the same. arguably it's a bad end. but...

black canary restructures arkham from what jazz said to batman in that meeting. many of the rogues get actual help. the joker is transfered to a supermax. he never escapes again. nightwing takes the discowing costume back up in celebration.

vlad loses the lawsuit, and uses his powers to get one over on luthor, who has a mind control suggestion implanted to (amongst other things) never be able to work on these projects again.

there is greater transparancy in superhero work. this makes some people start social programs for villians who have a point. it works for a few of them. the JL is cleared up to handle more extraterrestriel threats, not leaving the burden on one person alone in the cities. the child sidekicks have less work.

amanda waller is fired. ironically, she had nothing to do with any of this, but people assume that she did. either way, everyone agrees it's deserved.

the league of assassins makes a lot of money. they get hired a lot in turbulent times.

disney, which is utterly unchanged in this dimension, makes a documentary about everything. they get dani in for an interview. it's in very bad taste. there is at least one death pun and CGI'd animal.

Definitely keeps it to himself, doesn't let anyone else know he's feeling the way he's feeling.

The only one that would know he's feeling lovesick would probably be Isaac. Only because Isaac catches on to the small things really easily.

Isaac catches all Blake's little glances at you, he notices when his face goes red when you're mentioned.

As for how Blake feels when lovesick, he's super confined to his own brain and tries not to hang around you a whole lot, because he's scared he'll reveal himself and how he feels.

When he has to be around you though, he's always red in the face and trying to make small conversation with you.

Whether the conversation is awkward or not, he loves every time he talks to you, because he's getting somewhere.

He likes to buy you little gifts, just because. Y'know, he's in love with you. He takes note of stuff you like, because he wants to show he cares.

When he finally asks you out, or more so whenever Isaac told him to ask you out, and you say yes, he just pulls you in for the tightest hug ever.

TANNER ;

Oh my god he's such a fool when he's lovesick. He's the kind to feel physically sick when he's crushing on someone, because it hits him HARD.

Always feels giddy and happy around you, so he makes it a point to hang out with you when he can.

He's always cracking his best jokes around you to try and make you laugh, because when he hears you laugh it makes him so unbelievably happy.

Definitely the type to leave notes around you and label them as "-ur secret admirer <3" but he alters his handwriting so you don't actually know who it was.

The type to make jokes like "What if.. What if we held hands? Ahaha, only joking!" He is not joking.

He makes it so obvious, but you'd never tell him it was obvious, it'd break his heart.

After about a year of these shenanigans, he finally builds up the courage to ask you out. When you say yes, he has to stop himself from just jumping on you and kissing you.

ISAAC ;

He's subtle, but he's also not.. not subtle.

He likes to crack jokes like Tanner, "Hey, Y/n, how funny would it be if we dated?" "What?" "Nothing."

The only one to actively seek you out; he actually calls you and texts you daily. He isn't afraid of being straightforward!

He always texts you to see if you're down to hang out, and if you say yes, he feels physically sick all day.

Absolutely loves being around you, but it also makes him feel like he's gonna vomit.

That feeling doesn't stop until you guys are actually dating.

Him and Tanner are pretty similar, aside from the fact that Isaac actually makes moves.

He peppers in some pet names that could kind of be passed off as platonic, but his heart could burst when you smile at the fact of him calling you 'dear'.

When he finally asks you out, and you say yes, he could fall to his knees right then and there.

He’s a Little Confused but He's Got the Holiday Spirit

Hello! As the title implies, it's time for this to become a fic, for those that don't know, I wrote a prompt response that's basically a christmas au of confused spirit (curtosey of @divinit3a) and it was so good that I decided to make a full fic for it. this post contains the basic info of the fic, some lovely designs brought to life by Pom and will include links to each chapter as it posts ^_^

The Plot:

You're a blacksmith/animatronic technican in a small, mountain village, known far and wide across the kingdom for it's holiday decorations and delight. So much so that the royal family themselves visit yearly to partake in the festivities.

However, due to some recent threats and strange has happenings, there's much more security this year, and among that security is two royal guards who seem keenly interested in keeping you from investigating too far into the matter. And you, they're also interested in you.

The Characters:

Y/N - You! With the same personality, motivations, and goals as Y/N from Confused Spirit, and with a similar job as well. You run a shop in town with a small team of smithies, tinkerers, and inventors at your side. (I don't have a design currently but imagine a the most androgynous blacksmith/medival peasent outfit ever <33)

Sun & Moon - The two guards that have been meddling in your affairs. Though, given they've been a surprising help with your siblings, you can't say much. Also with the same personalities, and characteristics as Confused Spirit. However, they're motivations and goals are different and do not reflect their CS counterparts. Meaning, anything discovered about these two does not apply to or justify any actions taken by them in CS. Designs below are by Pom who brought my vision to life <3333

-I want to say you both met the day Remmick died. They say witch’s blood tastes the best to Twilight Vampires. I think Sammie’s singing is something otherworldly so different blood. Funny enough you both came for Sammie.

You say the way it all burns and you say past and future blend as one. Breathtaking. In the midst of it all was a man—a boy really—singing his heart out. You could smell everything, the smoke, the catfish, the sweat, but most of all, the boy’s blood. Sammie’s blood. 

You closed your eyes, relishing the sweet melody of his voice. Everything else went silent. Maybe after you sucked him dry, you’d turn him. Have him sing for you. His voice would be heavenly.

The crunch of three footsteps opened your eyes. Three others. Looks like you weren’t the only one drawn to the feast.   

-Now from this point, this could go a number of ways. All depending on whatever powers you have. There's too many powers to keep track of so I’m gonna stick to the main ones (AKA the most interesting ones so no super speed or super strength bc that's boring and Twilight Vampires already stronger than your average run of the mill vampire💔) + which one I think Remmick would find most interesting.

Telepathy

-I don’t think this one is all too interesting, basically what Remmick has except you can’t control anyone with it and it works on everyone. Sensory nightmare if you ask me. So I think if you had this power keeping Sammie would be a priority a singing that can numb out the other voices. If only for a little while, peace and quiet. 

You heard their thoughts, though oddly enough, all in one. Burgundy eyes looked towards the man with the lamp first.

‘Sammie.’ It was the only word on his mind. Your eyes shifted to the woman.

‘Sammie.’ Your brows furrowed at her thoughts. Finally your eyes shifted to the man in the middle. 

‘Sammie. Get in and get Sammie.’ Slowly your head tilted. You tried again seeing if you could read anything else. Nothing was given except for what was already had. 

It was too bad. You’d get Sammie first, deal with the others eventually or maybe the other way around, depending on how it all went.

‘Crackers. Damn. Gotta get Smoke and Stack.’ Your eyes locked onto the burly man who sat outside as guard. 

“Hey there!’” You watched from the shadows as the middle one spoke. Blank was the minds of the other two. 

“Good evening.” The guard greeted them and you breathed out a laugh. ‘Lord help me, please don’t let it be no Klan.’ Poor man, these weren’t Klan, least not with what you know of, no these were something worse. “How may I help you folks?”

“Oh we heard a tale of a party.” The man in the middle made gestures. He’s good. Human mimicry gets harder after a while. “Drink, food, blues music and the like.” 

‘Now who in the fuck told these white folks about this? Lord, don't let it be no Klan.’ The man begged within his head and you did nothing. You returned to what felt most comfortable. Staying still. Returning to what you were, a statue frozen in time. Your breath stopped, your eyes stopped blinking, everything about you stopped as you watched. 

“You did?” The man responded looking at the three vampires. (Though different from the ones you’re used to. Witches and their spells.)

“Oh we like to drink.” The man responded and you simply watched. Bet he does like to drink. “We happen to be musicians, and uh…we walked here so,” Your brow shifted upwards. Why not just enter? “We hungry as dogs.” You rolled your eyes. 

‘Bark.’ Your eyes shifted to the man with the lamp once more as he did bark. Your brows furrowed. Could he read minds too? A gift similar to yours? Do they know you’re here? You doubt it. 

‘Laugh.’ And both laughed. 

Mental manipulation then? Not bad.

“You wouldn’t mind us coming in now would you?” The man in the middle stepped forward.

A door opened and your ears solely focused on that. You smelt Sammie, smelled him and his most recent meal. He was covered in sweat and the rim of his collar had more than just sweat on it. 

-I think for the most part you stay still, not really doing anything and let everything play out, though I think you find their singing funny. I think their song of ‘Picked poor Robin Clean’ made you laugh, just a little.

I think where you finally intervened/took action was during ‘Rocky road to Dublin.’ or rather at the beginning. 

“Then off to reap the corn

And leave where I born

I cut a stout black thorn

Fore to banish ghosts and goblins” Singing came and your head turned to the little circle of dancing vampires. The lyrics ran through all the minds of the vampires.

Definitely mental manipulation. The mind of Remmick ran, everything was done perfectly, his gift and to manipulate everyone in such a way is worthy of praise. As your head bobbed to the beat you walked over to the door before the slight smile was wiped from your face and instead replaced with furrowed brows and small frowns as you knocked on the door.

“Hello? Please? Anyone? Please help me! Let me in! Please!” You begged knocking on the door. Smoke—if you remember correctly—answered with a gun pointed. Not like it would do anything, but your arms raised anyway. “Please…I-I was just…oh god, they” You breathed heavily, you smelled the smoke on…unironically Smoke, the fear in all of them, the rotting liver of Delta Slim, the herbs on Annie, but above all the sweet scent of Sammie. “They were singing, but they got…they had blood all over them.” You pleaded. “Please let me in.” 

“Why you ain’t just barge in?” Delta Slim asked? The others nodded.

“Because he has a gun pointed at me?” You spoke, keeping your hands raised. 

‘The fuck is up with her eyes?’ That thought or a variation of it ran through their minds.

Shit! Wasn’t it dark enough to cover them up? You hadn’t eaten in a while, they weren’t as red.

“Invitations have to be verbalized.” Annie spoke and your eyes looked towards her. 

“Hunt the hare and turn

Her down the rocky road to Dublin

And all the way to Dublin

Whack-follol-le-dah!” 

The song was loud in the background and Smoke stepped back. Slowly the rest followed by opening a path. Slowly you stepped in and the gun was put down as you walked inside your eyes focused on Sammie. 

You turned your eyes to the outside watching as the song continued, tapping your foot to the rhythm. Then your name was called and all of them stood in a circle. You stood up and joined. 

“We all gon’ eat this clove of garlic.” As Annie spoke you purse your lips to stop you from smiling. They had a vampire inside alright, but that little clove wasn’t gonna work on you. Human food taste disgusting. 

“I don’t much like the taste of it.” You looked forward to see…Pearline was it? Complaining about that taste. You sympathized with her.

 You stood next to Sammie. If you wanted to turn him and have him stick around, you’d need him to like you. “Ain’t no one saying you gotta like it.” Annie responded and you simply stayed silent remembering to blink thrice a minute and keeping your breathing steady. “We just gotta figure out if any of us left is one of them.” 

The jar of garlic was passed to you and you raised a brow “I just got here and you said they needed an invitation.” It has been a long time since you’ve eaten human food. You’d vomited the last time you did. “I didn’t get one, shouldn’t I be good.” 

“Just eat it.” The woman next to you spoke before eating one of her own. You looked down to the clove before putting it in your mouth. It tasted like ash and dirt and everything nasty. You'd throw this up anyways. You gagged as it was put in your mouth. Everyone looked on as you struggled to swallow it. 

-The rest of the night goes on and plays out as you try and talk to Sammie more, though he doesn't seem to be keen on you. Your eyes creep him out. Fair enough. The plan remained. Eating him. 

A frantic knock sounded and you walked over slowly to the door as you began thinking of new ways to try and get Sammie to stay once you turned him. 

“Or you let me back in there, and I’ll come in, and we can grab out things…” A man leaned outside. His mind was blank other than ‘Break Grace.’ You saw his eyes turn while and your brows lifted looking at the man. You’d never seen anything like it. “And head home?” 

You saw Grace begin to break. You gave a small nod of approval. Remmick…he was good.

“I am your way out. This world already left you for dead.” Your eyes flickered towards Remmick looking to his mind. His mind was a wonder. Everywhere but nowhere at once. Everything is perfectly in order according to his vision. Even as he spoke everyone moved the way they were supposed to move. 

Yes, you were very impressed with Remmick.

“You should listen to him, Grace. ‘Cause I know everything he knows now.” His eyes were red, still controlling everything. “And I want you to let us in there. Or we gon’ go to the grocery store and we gon’ pay little Lisa a visit.”

Very good. For the first time that night you grind. Around humans you never grinned. It was off putting to them. Your teeth were a little longer than what they should be. A little sharper than they should be. Humans were notoriously good at spotting something that wasn’t human pretending to be human. Wouldn’t be long till they caught onto you. 

As Remmick spoke Grace’s language, you saw the way his mind worked to translate the words from Bo. 

How provocative. You struggled to hide your little giggle. But Remmick heard it. Was just loud enough for him to hear. You simply nodded with a smile, your teeth covered once more. 

“S’good.” You murmured and he furrowed his brows hearing it before giving you a smile.

“This can’t be real.” Pearline breathed out and Remmick only gave a cocky look. 

“You the devil ain’t you?” Sammie spoke, but your eyes stayed glued to Remmick. 

“Sammie! You are the one I came for.” Figures. Your mind kept running trying to think as their little conversion carried on. Though you felt Sammie move and your hand immediately shot out holding him back. Hopefully this head and his clothes are enough to cover your cold grip.

-I think real interactions between you and Reemmick start when everything goes down.

“Come on in you motherfuckers!” Grace yelled and your grin mimicked Remmick’s. You saw him grin as the door was brought down. Grace threw the bottle and Remmick hit the door.  You watched Grace run to Bo, burning him and her together. Your brows raised. You watched them burn as everyone else fought. Vampires came for you. You paid them no mind as you tossed them aside with ease. Your eyes focused on Grace and Bo. 

You’d never seen anything like it. It was beautiful watching them burn. You stayed in your spot occasionally ripping off a limb from a vampire. 

Finally as they both burned you turned to see Annie on the floor bleeding out. All this blood and you hadn’t eaten in weeks. You felt the venom start pooling in your mouth. Smoke crawled over Annie, he’d be no good. Smokers, drunkards, tasted just as bad as human food.

Your eyes scanned the room before settling on Pearline. She’d do just fine. Just to take off the edge. 

Your eyes focused on Remmick who breathed out a sigh getting back up. Mental manipulation would work to keep Sammie around. But his blood, you wanted his blood. Just as they all retreated you grabbed a bottle of the Irish beer pouring it out. You shook it out as you ran behind the rest of them up the stairs. 

“Pearline!” You called after her and she turned. You gave her a smile as you pounced on her. She screamed. You heard Sammie’s scream of protest. You paid, you sucked on her draining her of life. You felt as the venom inside you feast on the blood of Pearline. Felt as the venom grew stronger in you. Felt the way your body became tougher, stronger, felt as your vision sharpened. You looked at Sammie and Smoke. They looked clear, you could see everything around them. The way a bulging vein pumped to the rhythm of their hearts. 

You went back to feeding as Smoke called Sammie. Just as you were about to finish the last of Pearline you heard Remmick call Sammie’s name.

“Sammie!” He called and Stack followed after to get his twin. You looked up and a growl rumbled in your chest. The animalistic tendencies that came with vampirism never really went away. Remmick went to bite Sammie, the guitar was the only thing that stood in his way.

Standing up and with blinding speed you pushed Remmick off of him, sending him flying out the house. Sammie only looked at you with horror-stuck eyes. You cleaned your mouth of Pearline’s blood before shrugging. 

“Sorry ‘bout Pearline. Lotta blood in the air. I got hungry.” You mumbled out though before he could respond three gunshots sounded. It all bounces off your body, though not before leaving holes in your dress. You looked towards Smoke who was on top of Stack. All three only looked at you. “Bullets don’t work on me. Can’t kill me. Sorry.” 

Sammie pushed you. You didn’t budge. “Sammie. I want you, but first, I need to make a deal.” You grabbed his hand pulling you with him. On your way you kicked off both Smoke and Stack down to the first floor. Pulling him tight against you, you jumped off the second floor looking for Remmick.

A clawed hand came to rest on your shoulder. You turned around and small scratches came on your face as Remmick bent over in cradling his hand cursing. You simply raised a brow shaking your head. “I want to propose a deal.”

Remmick looked towards you, then to his broken claws, then back to you. “What deal?” 

“Well I want Sammie, you want Sammie. See the conflict. Now I could just take him, but…” You looked toward Samme who was still struggling to get out of your grip. “Sammie here don’t like me much, but you…” You walked towards Remmick as he stood up to his full height looking at you with slightly furrowed brows. “You have a gift that makes them stay. So I propose. You turn him instead of me.”

“And if I just take him from you and leave you?” Remmick looked towards Sammie then to you. 

“Well you can try, but you’ll fail, miserably.” Your red eyes focused on Remmick as he stared on, from behind him his vampires crouched low. You read his thoughts and you shook your head. “Look, I know what you’re thinking, it’s not gonna work. I can hear what you’re thinking, every scenario you just ran will end with me ripping off your head.”

He furrowed his brows. “Yes, I can read the thoughts of everyone. That's how I know what it is that you want, that's how I know Sammie here never liked me, and that’s also how I know…” Remmick groaned in pain as a stake went through him. “That that was gonna happen.” You shook your head as his vampires all groaned in unison with him. 

For a second you let go of Sammie and grabbed Smoke by his neck. He pointed a gun to your eye and shot. Nothing happened. You threw him back and turned to Remmick. “What’s it gonna be? Suns coming, you’re running out of time.”  You walked around him standing on the east side of him shielding him from the first rays of light. You felt it warm your skin and you heard Sammie’s thoughts go blank. As if he couldn’t understand what was happening. 

“Cool right?” You turned to him, giving him a smile before he turned running away from you. You rolled your eyes. “Remmick?” The slightest nod from him as his skin began to burn and he started pulling the stake out. You grabbed him rushing him inside the Juke Joint and then running out to go get Sammie.

-I think from then on, it’s you three. Sammie is turned and under the hive mind of Remmick and it goes on like that for a good while. I guess you could consider it to be your coven. I think Remmick is always most intimidated by your ability to read his thoughts, because for the longest time no one else was able to, just selective memories, but not with you. 

Sammie sang in the background with his guitar and you bobbed your head as Remmick and his people danced alongside yours. It felt good as the silence settled in. No thoughts of anyone. Just yourself. You closed your eyes feeling the sensations as the blend of future and past became one. 

‘Hunger.’ You opened your eyes before opening a cooler and throwing him a blood bag. He turned to you and you smiled. “I know better than you know yourself, remember?” 

Remmick said something, only gave a sigh and a small laugh drinking away continuing to dance. 

- I think just eventually due to the nature of your gift and his, a bond would naturally be established. Think Esme and Carlisle. That's how I imagine this. Maybe more intimate and just due to it, you never really talk to each other just because there is always an understanding. 

Remmick sat away from the window and where the rays of light reached as he watched you lay in the sunroom of your shared home. The sunlight reflecting off of you. Your skin shining like a thousand diamonds in the sun. He always liked seeing you like that. 

You were nothing like him. Bullets nor stakes pierced you, your skin shone in the sun, you could read his thoughts, you were stronger than him, faster than him. Everything about you, but yet there were still those things about you and him that were incontrovertible.

Your skin was as hard and impenetrable as diamonds, but yet it is soft and warm to him. Your telepathy allows you to read him perfectly. You give him everything he desires for nothing except for when you want to go on a hunt for some witch or anyone who you can smell. 

But what Remmick likes most, above all would your eyes. A deep blood red, he likes to mirror them with his own. His vision is sharpest in that form, giving him more to look at. Most days you’ll stand still just for him. Allowing him to look at you, examine you, figure you out. You don’t blink, don’t breathe, don’t do anything and it never fails to amaze him.

SO. i always like to keep track of how many fics i read throughout the year, and in 2024 i read about 28.3 million words of fanfic. i know. i don't have a life. most fics read were in july (4.4m words) and least fics read were in september (797k words). BUT throughout those 28.3m words i do think i found some incredible fics throughout the year, which i bookmark as recs to reread :) because of this, i thought i'd do a little ao3 wrapped sort of thing and share all of my bookmarked fics this year as recs!! i read pretty much all kinds of fics so please check tags/warnings/ratings if you choose to read them

Unfortunately for him, unclaimed kids tend to raise the most suspicion... but he might have found a loophole in the form of Aphrodite. okay yea this one just left me reeling for days. weeks even. this is a total rewrite of what pjo could have been and though i may have questioned it going into it, i should have never doubted any bit of this- this is just a masterpiece of writing, like, seriously. the way that all of the character arcs were written, the deaths meaningful, the plot insanely well-thought out?? i am in awe. i read this and the sequel within a 6 hour car drive bc i was just so insanely hooked on every detail of this universe- seriously, the worldbuilding was insane, the oc's so perfectly intertwined, and the lore perfectly incorporated. SERIOUSLY if you want a pjo fic to completely alter your brain chemistry, this is the one.

As Gabriel fears that the person in the peel was none other than Cat Noir himself, he also notices that Adrien seems to upset and hiding something. i have no idea what possessed me to read mlb fanfic in the year 2025. i haven't watched the show since quarantine. but god is this probably the funniest fucking fic i've read all year. i was in tears laughing at 3 am. PLEASE READ.

IM BEING SO FR RIGHT NOW. the way that this fic literally altered my brain chemistry and left me in shambles. the amount of detail that went into the plot and the lore. i could read another 400k words of this universe and it still wouldn't be enough. the author is literally so crazily talented they made me ship harry potter x gideon prewett (no weird age gap going on trust me, there's a lot of time travel stuff going on- they are around the same age biologically and mentally). like seriously if i had to recommend one fic from this year it would be this. which is insane to say. but i cannot understate how incredible this work of fanfiction is like genuinely, i hope that this author is out there writing incredible original works because they integrated oc's into the plot so seamlessly, made these incredible relationships and orchestrated the plot so perfectly that i was just completely immersed. i could go on for way longer but like. all i could think when finishing this was woah. holy fucking shit. idk if i'll ever read a fic as insane as that again.

Even worlds apart, they'll still always find each other. got to read this one as it updated and this was just a beautiful exploration of what could've happened if powder tried to recreate the anomaly (a question that im pretty sure everyone asked after the end of ep 7) - it was a wonderful fix-it while also staying true to all of the characters and exploring their relationships post-canon <3

Hello!!! I don't know if you're still interested in talking about your wip fics (if you aren't , then just ignore me), and I don't know if you have talked about it already, but I am humbly requesting to hear about the Xianle Quartet Fourway-Soulmate Marks AU one. I read that and my interest was INSTANTLY PIQUED, PLEASE 🛐🛐

Okay, this one is gonna be kinda tricky to explain because I originally was just writing this out as a prompt to post and it got away from me. It got to the point where I was just like "I'm already writing this much out, I should just actually write it." So, the first like, half of the fic is written tumblr prompt style and summary with some actual scenes sprinkled in and the second half of it is mostly actual fic with some tumblr prompt style summary in it. Once I get it all down, I'm definitely going to have to go back and work on the first half. Anyway, I'll do my best to explain without getting carried away. Also, since I'm getting busy, I'm just doing this from memory instead of rereading it.

So! As the working title says, it's a soulmate au where Xie Lian, Mu Qing, Feng Xin, and Hua Cheng are all soulmates. They all have four soulmarks on their bodies, each mark in the same spots and each one representing one of them. However...they take a long time to figure this out. Like, it follows canon really closely, the poly only happening after canon. Also, it's really heavy on the MuLian.

It starts in Xianle era. As Xie Lian's servant that dresses and undresses him, Mu Qing sees the soulmarks on Xie Lian and instantly figures out the two of them are soulmates. He doesn't say anything, though, bc he's all self conscious and insecure, thinking he might be thrown out of the Holy Royal Temple and have people try to cover it up and say he was trying to seduce Xie Lian or smth. So, he keeps his mouth shut, just trying to be content with Xie Lian in this way. One day, while Mu Qing is dressing him when they're 16? Mu Qing's sleeve falls down just enough for Xie Lian to see the soulmark on his inner wrist. He grabs Mu Qing's wrist and is like "Mu Qing! You're my soulmate!? Why didn't you tell me? You had to have known. How many times have you seen me naked after all?"

Anyway, Mu Qing basically says that he's worried about people knowing and that's why he didn't say anything. Xie Lian agrees to keep it secret, not even telling Feng Xin, but they do start a little affair. It's all sweet, shy moments, chaste kisses, and blushing hand holding. They both still want to follow this cultivation path, so anything more is totally off the table, not even considered.

Soulmarks aren't actually talked about a whole lot. It's seen as being private and personal. Asking about it seen as rude, and soulmarks are usually covered unless they're in an area that's too hard to hide. Bc of this, while the four of them haven't heard of people having multiple soulmarks, they don't really think anything of it. And, since they also haven't heard of people having multiple soulmates, they just figure that some people just have more soulmarks and it doesn't really mean anything.

Honghonger-er absolutely hates his soulmarks. Fate was what gave him his red eye and his horrid luck, so why would he want the soulmate that fate also gave him? This becomes an even stronger conviction to reject his soulmate when he decides to dedicate himself to Xie Lian and even goes so far as to tattoo Xie Lian's name on his forearm over the soulmark there, covering the mark of his so-called fated with the name of his chosen. This is extra funny bc the soulmark there is the soulmark representing Xie Lian.

Feng Xin just doesn't give a damn about soulmates. He's seen couples who aren't soulmates have happy marriages together, and couples who are soulmates bicker and fight constantly. So, he doesn't let the idea of soulmates sway him one way or the other.

During Xie Lian's first banishment, Mu Qing still leaves like he does because he needs to take care of his mother. Mu Qing figures that this separation between him and Xie Lian is temporary and that fate will bring them together again in the future when they can really be together. For Xie Lian, though, he views it as his soulmate rejecting him, thinking him not good enough anymore and not wanting to be with him. All that rest still happens, but the feelings just run deeper.

When Xie Lian ascends the third time, he figures that Mu Qing still wants nothing to do with him, knowing how much Mu Qing values his godhood and reputation, thinking he'll only muddy it and drag Mu Qing down. Mu Qing doesn't bring it up bc feelings, and thinks that Xie Lian is the one that doesn't want him as a soulmate, and that Xie Lian continuing with his life and not bringing their soulmate status up is him rejecting Mu Qing. Because Xie Lian thinks Mu Qing doesn't want him, when Hua Cheng enters the picture, he doesn't exactly stop himself from catching feelings for him. Mu Qing is having a very angsty time watching his soulmate, love of his life, falling in love with someone else, and then the cave of ten thousand gods...and hualian being all...hualian... He is not doing well. But, they've both lived hundreds of years without each other and don't want to go back to that. So, they try to make it work. Think: divorced couple trying to still be able to interact and be civil and friendly but also move on from the love they still hold. Xie Lian is doing better since he found a new lover.

When Hua Cheng returns from being away for a year as they're stripping down and making out getting ready to have sex, Hua Cheng sees the soulmarks on Xie Lian, freaks out from happiness, and shows the same marks on himself. They figure out they're soulmates and are happy about it, but Xie Lian is also confused bc Mu Qing's his soulmate. When Hua Cheng finds out about Mu Qing, he barges into the Heavens and Mu Qing's palace while Xie Lian's asleep. He almost strips Mu Qing in his front hall in front of his junior officials to check that he really does have the same soulmarks and he wasn't faking it, but Mu Qing, knowing what he wants and that he can't stop him, convinces him to at least take it to a private room just the two of them, wanting to preserve at least some dignity. So, Xie Lian and Hua Cheng know that the three of them are soulmates, but don't tell Mu Qing about Hua Cheng bc Hua Cheng is refusing to admit it and it doesn't really change anything. Xie Lian and Hua Cheng are still choosing to be with each other, promising themselves to each other. Mu Qing...tries to deal.

post-canon, the Xianle trio get together once a month for tea and snacks, trying to work on becoming friends (f-f-friends). Mu Qing knows he's in love with Feng Xin, and he's pissed about it (he's known for centuries). Xie Lian knows he's still in love with Mu Qing even though he chose Hua Cheng. Feng Xin is fucking oblivious. To all of it. Feng Xin and Xie Lian think that their feelings for each other are Totally Platonic.

Eventually Mu Qing just Can't Do This anymore and blows up at Xie Lian that he's still in love with him and that Xie Lian is the one who rejected him and chose someone else. He says that he can't be friends with Xie Lian anymore, that it hurts too much, and that they need to just end this. Xie Lian doesn't go after him when he leaves because he did choose someone else and he's still committed to Hua Cheng. He does feel horrible though and curls up crying about how much he hurt Mu Qing without even realizing.

Hua Cheng had long clocked the fact that Mu Qing and Xie Lian still loved each other and knew this was coming. He didn't want it to, but knew it would eventually. He'd also never want to hold Xie Lian back, so he hugs Xie Lian and tells him it's okay, that he can love Mu Qing too. Xie Lian goes up to the Palace of Xuan Zhen the next day (after repeatedly checking with Hua Cheng that he's really okay with this) and is basically like "You told me yesterday you still love me and want me, so I'm not leaving until you agree to be my lover again. Yes, San Lang knows and is the one who told me to come; he won't kill you for this, I promise." So, Xie Lian and Mu Qing become lovers again.

...They still have major communication issues. They'll get better though! But, as of right now, Xie Lian still thinks Mu Qing doesn't want anyone knowing about them like he did back in Xianle, and Mu Qing doesn't exactly correct him, and he is a private person, just not worried like he was. Also...they don't really have a conversation about sex. They both know Xie Lian's doing it with Hua Cheng, but Xie Lian still thinks it's off the table with Mu Qing like when they were younger. Mu Qing takes a while, but does decide he wants to with Xie Lian.

I don't really know how to explain Hua Cheng and Mu Qing's dynamic without writing out paragraphs and paragraphs about it, but maybe like ex-husband and new boyfriend, but they're both still with Xie Lian, and Hua Cheng's a super supportive husband and Mu Qing is Resigned. Also they're falling in love. Just starting to, though. They're in the...friends?? stage at this point. Oh, yeah, when MuLian got together again, Xie Lian told Mu Qing about Hua Cheng being their soulmate also. They don't talk about it, but Xie Lian has made it clear he's okay with them getting together if they wanted (they're both repulsed by the idea).

Hua Cheng realizes how much his and Mu Qing's relationship has changed first when, while MuLian were spending the night together (also, Hua Cheng literally commissioned Mu Qing a wing in Paradise Manor for him and Xie Lian to sleep in together when Mu Qing spends the night. like I said, super supportive husband), and Mu Qing grabs hold of Hua Cheng's ashes. Hua Cheng feels it, knows that's not Xie Lian's hand holding them, knows there's only one other person it could be, and is...okay with it. It shocks him, but, he trusts Mu Qing. He knew he did because he trusted Mu Qing with Xie Lian, who he values more than his own life, but it's when Mu Qing holds his ashes that he realizes that he trusts Mu Qing with himself also.

Xie Lian doesn't know that Mu Qing did this, and there's even a scene earlier where Xie Lian instinctively bats Mu Qing's hand away when he reaches for the ring. It's only after that Xie Lian realizes what he did and apologizes saying "A gift from San Lang... I'm very protective of it." Mu Qing drops it, but does feel sour because Xie Lian literally never takes that thing off, even when they have sex, so it's kinda just...between them. Always. A constant reminder of Hua Cheng. That's why Mu Qing grabs it one night while Xie Lian's too out of it to notice, and just holds it in a tight grip. He doesn't take it off of Xie Lian, just holds it in his hand. It's kinda like "haha! You may be his husband and get to love him, but I'm the one with him tonight. Not you."

Anyway, Xie Lian is completely oblivious that Mu Qing touched the ring, and Mu Qing doesn't know that it was Hua Cheng's ashes, just that it was a gift from him. Hua Cheng doesn't say anything about it. He knows that Xie Lian, even if he trusts Mu Qing, wouldn't let him touch his ashes bc it should he Hua Cheng's choice on who should be allowed to do that. And he also knows Mu Qing has no idea what he did because he's acting way too normal for someone who knowingly grabbed his ashes. And, like I said, Hua Cheng's fine with it, with letting Mu Qing touch and hold his ashes.

This is to where I've written, and it's at 46,589 words. I'll keep going, telling you my plans:

Hua Cheng, by this point, has become a lot less hostile towards Mu Qing, and after realizing the ring thing, he doesn't even pretend any more, just going with it. They're relationship doesn't completely change, but there's no chance of a fight breaking out between them and Hua Cheng is more...indulgent to Mu Qing, not holding any ill-will towards him. They're both aware that Xie Lian really wants them to get along (and that's why they've been trying so hard up till this point), so when Hua Cheng starts being nicer to him, Mu Qing tries too, and they slowly get on even friendlier terms. Xie Lian is ecstatic, but they also know he'd really like them to get together. And watch. Or at least have them both at the same time even if they don't do anything with each other. That, though, is something that Mu Qing and Hua Cheng were clear that they are not comfortable with because they hate each other and they're barely getting along just sharing a lover separately.

But, that was before. This is now. So, one year when Xie Lian's birthday is coming up, Hua Cheng goes up to Mu Qing like "Hey...so...Gege would probably really like it if we took him to bed together... What do you think of that for a birthday present?" Mu Qing's gut reaction is NO WAY! but... He's comfortable with it when he really thinks about it. So, they come to an agreement, that they'll both be in bed with Xie Lian, but won't do anything with each other, just spoil Xie Lian for his birthday by having both his lovers at the same time.

It is, by far, one of the best nights of Xie Lian's life bc of how happy he is. He has both his husband and his lover with him. He can't think of anything he'd have liked more.

The next morning, Xie Lian is still asleep and Mu Qing wakes up, finding Hua Cheng already awake and still in bed, gazing at Xie Lian. They have a Soft Moment talking about why they agreed to do this for Xie Lian's birthday and feeling a deep understanding with each other. And, they can't help but just kiss, feeling like they're being drawn together and it's unavoidable. And it is. Because they are soulmates, and they both know it. They've felt the soulmate draw to each other all this time even if they pretend that they don't, and they've been softening to each other. And now...after last night, watching the other make love to and dote on Xie Lian, loving him, being completely open in front of one another for the first time, they can't feel any reason to not just kiss each other.

Xie Lian wakes up to that scene. Of Mu Qing and Hua Cheng kissing over him, and smiles widely at it, watching. It takes HuaQing a long moment to realize Xie Lian's awake.

Anyway, the three get together and it's all happy and they're all good! Yay!

Now, you're probably wondering where Feng Xin fits into all this. Well... I thought I knew. But, then I was writing this next part out and was like "Actually...maybe this would be better..." so I'm not exactly sure anymore. Uh oh. I'll figure it out when I get there. But, as for my ideas. 1) HuaQingLian are all happy together, and one day Xie Lian are leaving Mu Qing's palace and Feng Xin sees Xie Lian kiss Mu Qing goodbye. And, Feng Xin is shook. He goes up to Mu Qing like "What was that??! Why did His Highness just kiss you!?!? Hua Cheng is going to kill you!!!" and panicking and stuff. Mu Qing just rolls his eyes and is like "Relax. It's fine. Hua Cheng already knows. Has for decades." "Decades?" "Yeah." "You and His Highness are like actually together? For decades?" "Yeah. You didn't notice? Idiot🙄" "And Hua Cheng allows it?" "Yeah." Feng Xin is having a whole paradigm shift. "...So you two just...share Xie Lian?" "Basically. But we also--" "That's an option!?" Mu Qing snaps his mouth shut as he watches Feng Xin having a total internal crisis. He suddenly realizes that Xie Lian is an option and that he maybe kinda wants him actually. ...And maybe Mu Qing too. He's still reserved about Hua Cheng, but that'll come in time.

Now 2) which is the one I'm kinda leaning towards right now (but it could change in the future) is that HuaLian realize that Mu Qing has feelings for Feng Xin. Because they're already in a poly relationship, they have a talk about it, and HuaLian tell Mu Qing that they're okay if he wants to pursue Feng Xin. Mu Qing doesn't think he should because they've never really gotten along and he doesn't want to mess things up when their relationship is already so fragile. While they're talking, Xie Lian raises his hand and says, "Um...I think I might like Feng Xin like that too..." MuLian talk about it more and decide that they'll both try to court Feng Xin. Hua Cheng is just being #1 Supportive Husband/Lover and helping his two loves with whatever they need. Despite this, and Xie Lian being pretty obvious with Feng Xin about what he wants, it takes Feng Xin A While to figure out that the two of them like like him and want a relationship with him (himbo Feng Xin my beloved). And he's like "Wait, that's an option!?" bc that's the only way I can picture him reacting to it. And, then he realizes, huh, you know what? I can get with this. Me and Xie Lian have always had a good relationship and gotten along. And, I guess I do like Mu Qing like that too...

Anyway, it doesn't take long for MuLian to get Feng Xin to agree to get into their bed at Paradise manor. They strip him first, and he's more than happy to let the two of them take the lead--always the follower. But once they have him naked, they both pause, staring at his body. They turning this way and that, seeing his soulmarks. Feng Xin is thoroughly confused. Mu Qing screams, and punches something. When that proves to still not get his feelings out, he storms out of the room to go beat something up in the training hall that's built to withstand the three of them's powers. Xie Lian just breaks out laughing. Feng Xin still doesn't know what's going on and is confused about how things went from sexy time to this.

Hua Cheng, seeing his lover storm past him, goes to the bedroom to see what's going on. Xie Lian is still laughing hysterically, bent over and clutching his stomach. Feng Xin is still standing naked (or mostly naked) getting even more confused. He looks up at Hua Cheng when he enters, wondering if he might know what's going on. Hua Cheng sees the soulmarks, puts their reactions together, and just sighs, putting his head in his hand. It takes a long while for anyone to explain it all to Feng Xin.

So yeah. ...I don't know how HuaXin get together. I figured I'd figure it out when I got there. I still have a ways to go when I write to figure it out. But, yeah! That's that! Before the Feng Xin thing, HuaQingLian thought they had this soulmate thing in the bag, not knowing that four soulmarks means four people. They were so hitting themselves over the head feeling like idiots that they didn't realize it sooner. Especially Mu Qing.

I left a lot of little things out bc there's no way I could fit it all into a post like this. If I tried, it'd just be the og post that turned into a fic all over again 🤣

I'm getting busy, so I don't know when I'm gonna work on this. I just noticed that you both asked this a while ago and looked at what was coming up for me and decided I should just answer. XO Kitty Watch Notes: S1 Ep. 9 & 10

So. I liked this WAY more than I thought I would. Maybe it’s my lack of exposure to cute rom-com dramas exposing itself. Idk the script could def have been better, and the acting wasn’t always the strongest, but it wasn’t bad either. Kind of have enough thoughts for a full coherent analysis post, but I’m also thinking I wanna wait till I’ve watched season 2 and then do the whole show together. Honestly doing this has reminded me how much I love talking about media and it’s made me wanna start a reaction yt channel. (but I won’t bc I don’t rly have the time or the camera or the editing skills and no one would watch it anyways lol).

But yeah overall pleasantly surprised by this show and excited to watch season two!

Ep 9:

- Interesting emphasis on “reason, season, and a lifetime” is the show gonna follow that formula for Kitty w/ Dae, Minho, and Yuri? No clue who would be what yet. Unfortunately keep getting the feeling her and Dae aren’t endgame though. That’d be too drama fee. And as unfortunate as it is (and as much as I hate it being applied to real life) in shows like this the sweet, first love, “nice guy” is never the one that makes the final cut 😭

Ep. 10:

- They were also both weirdly calm? The acting so far has been pretty good even if I didn’t like the script, but that moment for sure could have been better

- DAE IS CRYING EVERYBODY STOP

- his absolute befuddlement over it being Yuri is sending me

- Him walking away is very fair because I wouldn’t be like “oh yeah lets keep dating” if my partner said they had a crush on someone else the whole time we were (back) together, but it is heartbreaking to see her sobbing alone

- Everyone else in the family on the verge of tears and Alex just smiling in the corner💀

- Not Kitty’s dad hearing “I’m crushing on someone else (a girl) while dating my longtime bf” and going “it’s great that you’re confused, it’s how we grow!” 😭

- Noooo now she’s fighting with Q and he took the night-night tea?? Pure evil

- Mrs Principal is redeemed and making her own choices!!

- I’m dying all the other rando guys realizing Kitty lives in the boys dorm

- And I get what Q is saying about him taking Dae’s spot but there’s no guarantee Dae would have been first? Unless he was second and then yeah I could understand that…although the difference btwn 1 and 2 shouldn’t matter w/ his scholarships?
